Name:
Erwin Schröder
Age:
16
Gender:
Male
Race:
Human, much to his annoyance.
Nationality:
Vale/Valian; Second generation Mantle immigrant family.
Weapon:
Gould's Edge
Gould's Edge is a Dust-powered shortsword with a wide, 20" single straight edge, with a 30 degree diagonal cut from the straight tip of the blade towards the dull back edge. Along the back of the blade is an undecorated cylinder coated in small copper-colored boxes with fuses mounted to the backs, each wired into a Dust chamber built into the crossguard. Under the front side of the crossguard is a shorter and fatter cylinder hanging in front of the trigger assembly, also coated in small copper-colored boxes wired into the Dust chamber. The long and narrow cylinder has a single port open at the top with a lens fitted to it, and the short and fat cylinder has two of such lenses facing upwards along the sword's cutting edge.
The grip sits beneath the Dust chamber and is capable of being wielded with both hands, but is balanced for a single handed grip. The front side of the grip is protected by a smooth steel brace sweeping down from the wide emitter cylinder to the pommel, and a trigger rests between the top of the grip and the emitter cylinder. A safety switch sits on the side of the Dust chamber and crossguard, accessible by thumb, and a second trigger in the form of a red button sits on the rear edge of the grip where one might place their thumb.
The forward trigger fires a single burst of energy through the long cylinder along the top edge of the blade, ejecting a transparent blue forcefield of variable shape and velocity as a projectile, though always with the total volume of one cubic meter. The default shape and velocity are that of a large bullet traveling at 100 meters per second and comparable damage potential to a large pistol round, and channeling one's aura through the weapon will change the projectile's characteristics. The rear trigger disables forcefield ejection and instead engages the fat cylinder's emitters, producing two blue-white beams of extreme heat 20" long in front of the blade's cutting edge, adjusted so that the frontal and rear emitters' focal point is resting right in front of the weapon's tip.
Gould's Edge only accepts solid box-cut cyan Dust crystals, or powdered cyan Dust. Total energy capacity is worth either fifty forcefield projections or one minute of beam edge time.
Specialty:
Scout
Schröder moves erratically between close and medium range, using his clone as a distraction. Grimm may be confused momentarily by Schröder's Semblance, though in the absence of emotion, they will not target the clone for more than a couple seconds at best. When not engaged in direct combat, Schröder uses his Semblance for information gathering purposes. Schröder is not particularly durable though, and will do anything to avoid being hit himself, including using others as meat shields and abandoning the battlefield until he's certain he can get in a solid strike safely.
Semblance:
Phantasm
A second Schröder appears at his position, and this 'clone' acts and speaks independently of the real body, but cannot interact with the environment or with others in any way. Schröder and his clone share knowledge, and the only ways to reliably tell them apart are to check whether or not they can properly collide with the world, identify whether their footsteps leave prints or make noise, or to use Grimm-esque empathic senses. This clone wears and carries identical equipment to Schröder and can fire harmless illusory projectiles with its own Gould's Edge.
The Clone stays active until it dismisses itself of its own free will, or is disrupted. Schröder may keep his Clone active when it is struck in exchange for aura it would take to survive the strike himself. The Clone unfortunately inherits the real Erwin's personality and may not reliably follow orders.
Personality:
Catlike in the worst ways, Schröder is an asshole, and regularly commits acts of vandalism, pushes shiny and small objects off of tables for the hell of it, and takes advantage of others. While he's 'friendly' to most, Schröder treats his friends with a combination of intense affection and intense spite, knowing full well that he can get away with saying the most insensitive things to them and causing absolute mayhem for them, so long as he apologizes later. Schröder will regularly attempt to butter people up in exchange for free things - usually food and services - and very intentionally relies on the Ben Franklin effect.
Erwin likes most people and is extremely outgoing (except for when he's not), and it'd be easier to list those he would despise than the other way around. The only people he doesn't willingly get attached to are people like himself, cat Faunus (there's some jealousy there), and people who hate animals.
He's been coasting along on others' willingness to forgive and tolerate him, and won't likely know how to handle it if someone genuinely gets upset with him.
Color:
7bcdc8 - Seafoam Green
Emblem:
A white cat with black spots sitting upon a blue-green background, in a black-bordered square.
Appearance:
Erwin Schröder is small. Very small. And he loves it. Schröder stands at an incredible 5'2" and weighs a mere 120lbs., and almost looks like a doll in some ways. He keeps his straight, heavily styled platinum blonde hair cut at roughly jaw length, giving him a slightly 'fluffy' appearance, and huge ice blue eyes shine outwards in search of trouble to cause. If Schröder doesn't look like he's planning on causing trouble at any given moment, then something is probably wrong.
In terms of outfit, Schröder typically wears black shorts, black combat boots, and an unzipped hoodie over a graphic tee shirt. His personal aesthetic preferences lead him to wear either a pair of false cat ears or cat ear headphones at almost all times.
