Here's another idea I am dabbling...
Name: Grace Copperfield
Epic Identity: Penitent
Age: 19
Faction: Kryptonites (!)
Ability: Psychic juggernaut. Grace's powers are firmly set in the mind over matter kind of setting. Theoretically she can read anyone's thoughts within a several mile radius, but she usually reads ALL of them at once, so if her focus wavers she might fail to ascertain information. Likewise she can project her thoughts easily, but discriminating the targets is tricky. If she focuses on a single target, she can likewise assault the psyche of the target by force(although for the vast majority of cases "trampling" is a better term), but that usually leaves her wide open. Telekinesis is the other branch of her powers. If she cares not about the strain she can cause great collateral damage by simply ripping up chunks of buildings, cars or people and flinging them. This also allows her to create a force shield for incoming attacks (however, she needs to be aware that she is being attacked).
Weakness: Aluminium, when worn in contact with skin completely nullifies her powers. In addition, her raw power is so enormous her body can't withstand it for long periods of time, requiring hospitalization after 30 minutes of continuous use and could cause her death. She cannot suppress them on her own and requires aluminium to do so.
Personality: Bitter and faithless, Penitent has no small amount of self-loathing about her flawed existence and that of those epics who carelessly flaunt their powers. Formerly a gentle girl who wished to become a veterinarian and help animals and people, her view of the world has been mercilessly torn apart from her life experience. She wishes for annihilation of the current world order, that gave rise to existences such as her, and she believes it is the right of Khan and the kryptonites to restore mankind in its place, even if it means that along the way, she must give her life to the cause.
Appearance: Grace is average heighted, with a slim and somewhat curvy frame, and cascading blonde hair. She has blue eyes which are often muddled and clouded by sadness. She also possesses a mole under her left eye. She usually wears an aluminium choker, and dresses in jeans and clear-coloured shirts. Whenever she is in action, she dons paramilitar garbs, and armor, plus a white mask with stylized eye crying tears of blood.
Background: Grace was born to a humble family in the middle of nowhere of the Midwest. She was dilligent and studious, and one day hoped to be a veterinarian to help the animals in her farm. However all changed one morning. Her nose was bleeding, and she felt sore. That's when the voices started. At first they were pretty small, only whispers. But the voices kept growing and growing. Eventually, she realized that those voices were other people's thoughts. Her scores plummetted, her constant freakouts and twitches led her to become the class weirdo. And she could hear their ugly thoughts, as she begun to be bullied, put in a hell that her parents could not understand.
The fact they had trapped her in a toilet after kicking her for a while was the only reason why she was spared of the attack of the rogue epic. She could still hear his smug thoughts, and the cries of suffering of her bullies. She didn't take any pleasure. Everything was wrong. She had been born wrong. Tears turned into clenched teeth, cries into a bellowing rage. Her powers fully awakened, as she tore a wall through the building with her telekinesis, and faced the epic. He was holding the half-dead figure of her mother. He was reveling on it.
She felt disgusted. She eyed the epic, a pyrokinetic, and stretched her hand. He seemed to smirk in amusement as he tossed aside the figure of her mother, and wanted another morsel. But he stopped on his tracks as the psychic forces lifted him up.
Just like plucking a spider's legs. Just like plucking a fly's wings. He was quartered and dismembered in midair. She felt vindicated with his death throes. That's when she realized she was bleeding through every orifice of her head. Her legs waned, as she felt numb and collapsed, her powers still active and raging out of control. She tried to rein them in, but it was to no avail.
When the Kryptonites arrived, she could barely move, even talk. She watched her mother breathe her last. She felt relief when the gun pressed against her forehead. She wanted this to end, after all. But they didn't shoot. They took pity on her last words. They considered her a victim of her own bad luck rather than an accursed epic. They managed on a fluke, stop the powers and the voices from ravaging her any further. She was taken in. She was given, shelter, food, education and training in combat and firearms. Her powers became somewhat of a secret among the Kryptonite higher ranks, a trumph card to be deployed in the most dire of circumstances.
She did not mind it. At all. The Epics should have never existed.
