Faye listened quietly to Denise, ignoring the burgers in the skillet until her roommate brought them up. She turned and flipped them without any haste, knowing that they weren't burnt just yet. They were perfectly ready, so Faye quickly plated them on the buns she had laid out for the two of them. She nudged one towards Denise, a signal that her roommate should dig in.

Faye grabbed the ketchup and mustard from the fridge and stayed quiet while she prepared her burger the way she wanted. Her mind went to the shitty situation that Denise was in. Faye had dealt with douchebags before, but that was before. Before, when people didn't have powers. If this guy Denise was dealing with was like her, then her roommate had a lot more on her proverbial plate than the poor girl might be able to deal with.

On a level, Faye didn't want any part of this. She wanted to hide away in her room with her cigarettes and alcohol and ignore that it was happening. But it was happening, and it was happening to somebody in her life. If she didn't kick this in the bucket before it escalated, it could become more of a shit-show in the future. It gave her the onset of a headache just thinking about what could happen.

The fey around her, both Seelie and Unseelie, sensed their proclaimed Queen's internal turmoil and knew what she was going to do before she had fully decided upon it. The Unseelie cackled maliciously, ready for a confrontation. In contrast, the Seelie were almost ceremonial in the way that they prepared themselves; they all grew serious and began fabricating their own personal weaponry and armor from thin air.

Faye sat down at one of the stools next to Denise, the prepared burger in hand. She spoke inbetween taking bites. "We can go fuck this guy up tonight if you want. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve, and I don't mind teaching this ass-hat a lesson or two in how to treat a lady." She stopped eating her burger to pour herself another shot. She downed it like it was nothing, and held the bottle out for Denise. "Or we could just go talk sternly at him, if that's what you'd prefer. It's better to deal with twats like this before they think they have power over you."

Denise gave her roommate an appreciative half-smile before grabbing the burger and taking a bite. It was good. Even better than she was expecting. The poor girl was so used to satisfying her late-night cravings with shitty junk food that she'd almost forgotten how simple it was to cook up something fulfilling. Not that it was healthy by any means, but it was better than she was used to.

"Hm, this is good," she replied with a nod of approval as she covered her mouth with the back of her hand. Swallowing her first bite, she entertained Faye's idea about taking on Max.

"Honestly, I don't want to drag you into this. I mean, you have nothing to do with it and bringing you into my mess would be extremely selfish of me. He's a dangerous guy, Faye. I mean, Max is extremely unpredictable, and he would kill you in an instant if it meant he could prove a point against me. Not that I have any idea on how we'd get to that point, but nonetheless it's in his nature, that's just the way he is."

Denise took another bite, contemplating her own words.

"I mean, I'm not dissuading you in any way, but I haven't seen him in quite some time. I don't know how powerful he could be," she shrugged, looking at her half-eaten burger.

Teleportation was never a pleasant feeling. It was convenient for traveling across the rather expansive city, but it felt wrong. Olivia landed on the rooftop, feeling sick to her stomach. Luckily, that issue was resolved for her fairly quickly, thanks to Guardian's helping hand. Olivia took a deep breath and entered the building, her skin and clothing fading away into nothingness.

Inside the building was a large apartment complex, whose structure could clearly be seen as money-saving and efficient. Wooden doors lined the narrow corridor. On the cheap carpeting (perhaps from the Patron Saints warehouse?) were several bodies, charred, and one that looked peppered with shotgun shells. Olivia faded back into view, kneeling down next to one of the corpses and inspecting it.

"Somebody was here and dealt with this problem themselves. Probably not one of us." She stood. "Judging by the fact that we aren't being devoured whole by a swarm of gangsters, either this entire place is evacuated or they've holed themselves into one room. We cleaning up this problem?"

Deep underneath the sidewalks of Red Harbor, Lance stood in a frigid room, a room that was many times colder than the frigid outdoors. The icy white room was lined with air conditioners of varying quality. Lance stood in the center of the room, wearing a comfortable two-piece suit, black, and holding a pair of bloody pliers. Lance was joined by a heavily-tattooed man, tied to a chair, in the cell. Lance placed the pliers down on a nearby table that also contained several models of acid and a half-finished cup of rum. Lance looked back at his captive. "I'll give you a few moments to think about what you said. I'll be back for you, don't you worry."

Lance exited the room and walked up the metal stairs that led to the warehouse. Swinging open the metal door, he was very surprised to find two others individuals joining him in the secret base. Regaining his composure suddenly and quickly, he reached down to his belt and pulled out a small black Glock, levering it at the intruders.

“You have 10 fucking seconds to tell me who you are and what you’re doing here before I use your blood to dye these carpets,” the half-drunk man growled, his gun hand vibrating gently.”

Neaera followed Acheri into the warehouse (or factory, or whatever this place used to be) and looked around in awe. It was unassuming and nothing really screamed THIS IS THE SECRET BASE OF A SUPERHERO VIGILANTE GROUP yet until... That. Nee almost gasped in shock. That was a giant glowing map. A solemn red dot glowed faintly on the screen that represented the whole of the city. It was starkly beautiful. She wondered (nearly aloud) if the red dot stood for a crime or a person or a place or or or... So many questions. Were there super villains that needed fighting? Did the Saints work with the Police? Was this the only hideout? Nee held her tongue. Not... Not now. Acheri looked stressed enough. She remembered something her mother had told her once. Vaguely. Something about patience. Patience being a good thing. Nee took a breath.

Acheri politely requested Nee to stick close and avoid wandering off. Right. Excitement and exploring later.

"Of course. I shall not wander off! Not yet anyway." Neaera flashed a coy smile at Acheri to try and brighten the mood. She was sure it was stressful trying to recruit people into a group like this. Nee guessed plenty of people wanted these guys gone, so their mistrust (or was it just caution?) was probably well deserved. The girl felt a pang of guilt for placing Acheri in this awkward situation. If Nee messed anything up, it was likely going to be blamed on Acheri. However, instead of making Neaera hesitant, she felt her resolve strengthen. She WILL join the Saints and she WILL do Acheri proud. This stranger's gambit on a lost would-be hero in the middle of the night was going to pay off.

Unfortunately Nee's train of thought was cut off by an angry middle-aged man holding a gun. On Nee and Acheri. And shouting.

“You have 10 fucking seconds to tell me who you are and what you’re doing here before I use your blood to dye these carpets.” The angry man shouted.

Nee thought fast. She recognised this man. His tone of voice, his face. It dawned on her.

"We met a week or so ago! You were after some serial bank robbers or something. I asked you if I could join the Saints and you told me to uh- 'Get lost' in less polite terms, but I was insistent and you eventually told me to find you guys in Red Harbour. So I did! Acheri is one of you!"

Neaera spit the sentence out as fast as she could, in her most disarming tone of voice. She hoped it was enough.

Acheri Solomon

Interacting with: @Amaranth @Agent 47

Nothing grabbed your attention quite like seeing someone go for a gun.

Whatever Acheri might have been about to say to Nee went right out the window. The ASA rocketed out of her chair as though shot from a bullet, planting her lead foot and pivoting so that her body was interposed between the gunman and her potential recruit. Her right hand went for her belt, flicking open her baton so it extended to its full length. Her left was held in front of her, palm facing out, as though instructing the man to stop.

That wasn't far from the truth. But unseen to anyone but Acheri, a barrier sprang up in front of her hand along the line made by the tiles in the floor. The hand wasn't strictly necessary, but the focusing aid was helpful for a quick and dirty ward like this.

"Warden," She began, keeping her expression neutral despite the exasperation that crept into her voice. Not fear; it was far from the first time she had been held at gunpoint, and there was no way the bullet would reach her. But having to guard Nee complicated things a little. "I'm here almost every night, you drunkard. Put the gun down, old man, if you want to keep that wrist."

Justin Harken

"We were supposed to be showing up at a major gang shootout. Something isn't right here." Justin said. Frowning as he crouched down next to the dead bodies. His eyes swept over the corpses and then the surrounding walls, his frown deepening as he did so. "Only a couple bullet holes in the walls. And judging from the angles I would guess they traveled through these two first. Their burns are odd too. Little to no scorching of the surroundings but still hot enough to ignite their clothes."

The large man stood back up and started scanning the corridor like it was an active combat zone. His gaze flowing across the corridor like a set of high powered targeting radar. "This was done by a single highly skilled combatant with either a very small and accurate flamethrower or some sort of heat power. Whatever the case is, judging from the general lack of gunshots echoing through the building, they aren't here anymore."

He sighed and glanced at Olivia. "Let's leave this to the police when they finally get here. I want to ask around the neighborhood however. See if anyone caught sight of whoever was responsible for this."
