NPCs can be controlled by anyone, but I mostly would be controlling them just for the sake of the role play and giving out missions.
A calm and gentle woman, the head priestess Hikari is a well respected and loved woman. A powerful onmyouji of Yang Wood, Hikari can heal many diseases and injuries, considered a miracle worker. She is the only onmyouji in the shrine with enough magical power to be contracted to a Tier 4 shikigami.
The shikigami of Hikari, Inugami’s personality reflects his alignment in Yin Fire. He is a fiery spirit, though undoubtedly loyal to his Onmyouji. He is respectful, but easily embarrassed and angered. Like most Inugami, he does not get along well with Tanuki or Kitsune.
Name: Niko Kodomo Nicknames: The little one, sunshine girl, Cat/Neko Age: 15 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: A short child at 5’3”, Niko would be easily brushed over if not for her energy. She has long blue-black hair down her back with choppy bangs, it usually appearing a mess because she’s too preoccupied to fix it. Her hair is usually pulled forward to leave room for her staff strapped to her back. Niko has wide hazel eyes, thin black eyebrows and a cute button nose with cute round ears to match. Her lips are fairly thin, and her cheeks are always rosy. Niko is thin herself, as well flat chested (which she is embarrassed about.) Her miko garb is big on her, but she doesn’t seem to mind (except when she trips.)
Previous Onmyouji?: Yes, has been at the shrine for a year. Shikigami: Tsugu the Tanuki Sigil and Location: On the shoulder blade of her left shoulder, a gourd:
Alignment and Fighting Style: Niko is Yang Water, meaning she stays in the back of the group and enhances her other peers abilities. She can boost magical power, summoning ability, and mental stability as well as clear any visual or mental tricks a yokai has cast. Niko can also increase physical attributes, such as giving someone a sudden burst of speed or strength. Because of her alignment, she isn’t a fighter, but can wack yokai on the head if she is left alone. Catalyst: Her staff, nicknamed Accelerator. Team:
History: Niko was a pretty unsuspecting little girl. She had an average middle class family, attended school and got average grades, and basically just lived a normal life. Niko was always curious and fascinated with magic, pretending to be a wizard when she was younger and sneaking into shrines when she was older. She always sad when she didn’t see anything, and returned home empty handed. A little more than a year ago, Niko’s best friend died in a car accident. Heart broken and unable to keep up her usual happy character, Niko ran off into the woods to be alone. She stumbled upon a broken down shrine to some spirit, seemingly abandoned. As she sat down to weep on the cobblestone, she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was the spirit of the shrine with a concerned expression, who knelt down to comfort her. From then on, this shrine spirit became her friend. Niko would visit every night with treats, and even helped clean up the place. But being able to see the spirit of the shrine meant she could see others, and they knew she could see them. Niko was attacked by a wild spirit on the way to the shrine one night, her friend making it just in time to protect her. No longer safe on her own, the shrine spirit contracted themselves to her and they joined the nearby Obake shrine to protect Niko. Personality: Nicknamed the “sunshine girl” for a reason, Niko seems to bring light and joy wherever she goes. She can be a bit of a klutz and a pretty big airhead, but she’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Niko is easily frightened and childish in manner, but some say this just makes her that more precious. Niko gets along with most anyone, and will be personally offended if she cannot get to be someone’s friend. She is a very obedient and rule following person who gets anxious around those who like to stray from order. Niko is a very caring and emotional girl, but can almost always be seen with a big goofy grin on her face. She is curious against her own good, and often gets herself into trouble because of her drive for adventure.
”Ah, don’t worry my dear. All is under control. *Glug glug*”
Name: Tsugu (given to him by Niko) Nicknames: The drunkard, the tanuki, the thief Preferred Gender: Male Sexuality: Pansexual lolicon Appearance: A “gentleman” in his late thirties in Appearance, Tsugu just seems like your average drunken wanderer. Somewhat tall at 6’4”, Tsugu has messy blond hair haphazardly braided into a shorter amount with matching dot eyebrows. His purple eyes are a bit droopy in a sleepy look at all times, his lips often curled in a dopey grin. He wears common wanderer clothing in reds, greens, beiges, and black including black mesh fingerless sleeves. He has a straw hat tied around his neck loosely, and giant gourd of sake on his back with the symbol for “tanuki” on it. Most times he will allow his ears and tail to show, but can hide them if he pleased.
Though Tanuki can take on many forms, this is the only other consistant form he portrays. A fluffy little animal, with a white belly and a darker brown tip of his tail. His mask is also a dark brown. In this form he still has his straw hat. Usually he uses this form to be carried easily in Niko’s arms and to attract children to pet him. Shikigami?: Yes Onmyouji: Niko Kodomoppoi Tier: Originally Tier 2, recently raised to Tier Alignment: Yin Wood, Tsugu is a hard hitter. He is somewhat of a tank, with high defense (usually because his pain receptors are so shot due to him always being wasted) and real power behind his punches. Though he is a slow attacker, anything he does land is sure gonna hurt. Sigil:
Powers:
Shapeshifting is a common characteristic of Tanuki, in which they can copy any form they see. However, Tsugu can only copy. He cannot create his own unique appearances besides what his two different forms. He can also change other’s appearances by infusing a leaf with his powers and placing it atop their heads.
Drunken Fist is a martial arts that tanuki have mastered. The more drunk he is, the more invincible he seems to be. You can keep knocking him down but he won’t feel a thing. His attacks are so wobbly that most cannot predict the movements, making it hard to block.
Super strength is as it sounds, but also boosted by alcohol. The more he drinks, the more he can lift. On his normal consumption, Tsugu can move a boulder twice his size without thinking about it. A terrifying drunkard indeed.
History: Tsugu has been a wanderer for hundreds of years, stealing sake from humans and picking food off stands. He was caught one night and had to run off away from store owners he had “borrowed” goods from, finding an abandoned shrine to hide until they were gone. His plans were ruined when a little girl came running towards the shrine, causing the tanuki to squeak and hide. Tsugu won’t admit that he was worried for little Niko when he saw she was alone and crying, but he did go out to comfort her. He offered her a cup of stolen sake, to which she giggled and said she couldn’t drink. The little Niko kept coming back. Tsugu couldn’t bring himself to leave, knowing she would be heartbroken. So he sat every night and all day waiting for her and her treats. She even gave him the nickname “Tsugu” because he was always pouring himself more sake. Then, she was late. Really late. Tsugu went out into the woods and found her being attacked by a Black Dog spirit. With one swift swipe, the dog was smacked hard into a tree and ran off whimpering. Tsugu went with Niko to the Obake shrine after placing his sigil on the back of her shoulder, becoming her shikigami. Personality: A very calm and relaxed fellow, Tsugu is the kind of person to go with the flow. Very charming and amiable, he gets along with most, especially over a good few cups of sake (or in his case, a few bottles.) He’s very kind and gentle, but can be quite passive aggressive and snarky. Tsugu is a trickster and likes to play mental games with people, tending most to pester the dog spirit Inugami. He’s usually seem very relaxed and sometimes even sleeping with his gourd of sake on his belly. Like other tanuki, Tsugu is an entertainer and if you’re lucky, he may even play his belly drum for you. He can be a thief, and if you leave anything he wants out you can bet it won’t be there when you come back for it. Other: Has a... vague interest in little girls.
"Oh my, aren't you just a delicious looking morsel. Let me have a bite, hmm? Pleeease? Aww, don't give me that look. I'll be gentle~"
Name: Suzue Yamazaki
Nickname(s): N/A
Preferred Gender: Female, like most Jorogumo
Sexuality: Bisexual, though is attracted to femininity, even in males. Odd, for a Jorogumo, isn't it?
Appearance: If standing on her human legs, Suzue reaches a respectable height of five foot seven. She has light brown hair, amber colored eyes, and is typically seen as somewhat dainty and slight of frame. As most Jorogumo tend to be, most would likely consider her to be fairly attractive, appearing to be around a young adult age. In her hair she wears a simple hair ornament, and she is a fan of simple though yet elegant seeming dresses. Her usual casual attire may seem a little outdated, or at least a bit odd by today's standards.
Six yellow and black spider legs grow from her back, able to be used as well as her other limbs. If using her spider legs for support, she can reach nearly six foot five - quite an intimidating boost, especially since she has a tendency to sneak up on people for giggles. Six, pupiless eyes can be seen on her forehead above her two 'main' ones. She has spider like fangs that extend from her top two canines, that are difficult to hide. Of course, this is not a side of her that many see unless she directly wants them too. The legs, are mostly used for defensive and maneuverability.
Shikigami: Not currently. Onmyouji: N/A Tier: 3 Alignment: Yin Water
Sigil:
Powers: Suzue is not much of a fighter, especially when compared to other Yokai, and she's quite aware of her lackluster combative ability. Her skills are as one might expect of a Jorogumo, are geared more towards deception and misdirection, as most Jorogumo naturally are inclined to. Who knows, though? Perhaps she could learn alongside a cute Onmyouji one day. Her preferred method of fighting is that of sneak and non-direct attacks. She is fairly good at setting up traps to ensnare people and things using her threads. The fire-breathing spiders help too.
Shapeshifting: Jorogumo are born with an inherent ability to shapeshift. In effect, this allows them to change from their more monstrous form to one of a beautiful women. Typically, it's used to deceive people and lure handsome young men to an untimely death. Thankfully Suzue doesn't do that. Any more.
Spider Tongue: As with most Jorogumo, she can both speak to and control lesser spiders. As spiders can often go unnoticed by people, this is a fairly good way of both gathering information and simply knowing what's going on around her. She has an uncanny ability to know quite a bit about a lot of people because of this. The spiders vary in size, and carry an extremely potent venom typically. On the extreme end of this, the ability allows her to command large, fire breathing spiders that are the size of a large dog. She has a tendency to let spiders make a home in her clothes
Thread Control: The threads of a Jorogumo are strong enough to ensnare a fully grown human with ease. She can wave these with ease, from her hands, legs, and her spider appendages. She can manipulate them with a fair bit of ease, using them to ensnare and trap foes, even Yokai. The thread is strong, durable, and make for excellent protective wear. Her own clothes are made of her own silk, and as such offer quite a bit of protection from certain Yokai. Also good for, ahem, other things
Venom: A lesser used ability of hers. Jorogumo inherently have a very potent venom that can weaken a subject over the course of a few days in small doses, ensuring that they suffer or she can inject a large dose all at once to greatly weaken any foe or human. Yokai are not immune from the venom, but depending on the type they may be resistant to it. Difficult to bite a foe directly in combat though, but being swarmed by small spiders is a good way of getting a small dose of it. In small doss some people might find it enjoyable
Physical Abilities: As far as her physical strength goes, she's surprisingly strong and athletic compared to a human. While she's nothing on super-human levels, she's much stronger than her slight frame suggests and all of her legs hold the same ability. As one might expect of a spider, she's surprisingly agile on her feet, and can climb and cling to surfaces using her legs and webbings. As well, she is a master of stealth and moving fairly silently, and makes almost no noise when moving.
History: It is said when a Joro spider reaches 400 years of age, they gain magical abilities. Whether this is true or not, Suzue is rather mute about, but she makes no effort to hide her actual age from people. She's old. Really old. Old enough go be a great-grand mother and at times hints that she maybe even is. She never gives a clear response though, and constantly either brushes the question off or otherwise flirts her way out of it.
What she does tell people, is that she's just a bored Jorogumo who wants to 'play' with humans. Whatever that means.
The truth of the matter is a bit less friendly than she passes off, though. She's a jorogumo, after all, and they aren't known for being friendly. However, age, and perhaps meeting the right people, can even change their naturally cruel disposition.
Currently she lives in the rural area, just outside of town in an old, though well taken care of home with a friend she affectionately refers to as 'Chi-Chan'.
Personality: Upon first glance, Suzue, is very formal in her mannerisms and tends to treat everyone with a high amount of respect and proper decorum. Some might mistake this for her being overly serious and humorless, but they would find out quite quickly that she in fact, doesn't take most things seriously. Under that initial formality, is a very promiscuous and even slightly domineering person. While she no longer takes part in the cruelty that most Jorogumo are known for, she still finds humans a little on the...'curious' side. As in, she finds them funny to play with.
That's not saying she's uncaring, quite the opposite. While she likes teasing, messing with, and otherwise making humans uncomfortable, She cares greatly for her comrades and friends, and while she doesn't like conflict she will never let anyone hurt those she cares about, even at probable cost to herself. She tends to dote slightly on people she likes, and likes being doted on herself. Displays of affection a very easy way to get on her good side. but that might not be the wisest choice
Other: Is an excellent seamstress Can play a guitar and other string-based instruments fairly well. Can sometimes be found playing an acoustic guitar. 'Suzue Yamazaki' is the name she took upon deciding to live among humans, and isn't the name she was born with. Is a reasonably good cook.
Powers: Yukine wields the power of foxfire. By cloaking her body in the pale-blue flame, she can enhance her physicals, giving her great speed and strength. She can also use it to create double images of herself or minor illusions. By launching a blast of concentrated foxfire, she can scorch evil creatures with divine energy. Yukine can also alter her appearance, allowing her to appear as different people every time she mingles with humans.
History: Ever since she was a cub, Yukine has been fascinated by humans. She loved their festivals, the lights in their cities, and of course their food. Her parents warned her that it was dangerous to involve herself with their affairs, but she eventually found a home for herself in the outskirts of Kokona city. She regularly mingled with the humans there, drinking men under tables and partaking in wild nights of partying. However, it wasn’t long before she was found by the mediums of Obake shrine. As a three-tailed fox, she was far from harmless, but her friendly demeanor made her easy to work with. Now, she works with Obake shrine to defend her beloved city from malevolent forces. She has not yet contracted an Onmyouji, but she knows her powers are limited without one…
Personality: Cheerful and fun-loving, Yukine is the life of any party. She is insatiably curious and hates being left out of anything. She can be flirtatious and likes to tease people to get a reaction out of them. She can be a bit mischievous, but only in the sense of playful pranks. As a yokai herself, she urges mediums to seek peaceful resolutions to any spirit problems, but won’t hesitate to defend herself if she has to.
Other: The source of any kitsune’s power is their Hoshi no Tama, a small glass ball that sparkles like the night sky. If anyone steals it, they can render the kitsune powerless. As a show of good faith, Yukine has stored her Hoshi no Tama in Obake Shrine in a secret location known only to herself, and the priestess Hikari.
Appearance: Yuudai is, for a lack of a better word, unexceptional. He's neither tall nor short, nor particularly broad or thin. He's not androgynous or girly, but not notably masculine, either. Half of his face is obscured by his hair, making it hard to memorize. He doesn't show any expressions, but apparently his eyes are absolutely terrifying.
Previous Onmyouji?: No Shikigami: Sigil and Location:
Alignment and Fighting Style: Despite being Yin-aligned, Yuudai is surprisingly good at summoning weapons from his (disturbingly) large repertoire. However, he still fits into his fire alignment quite well; taking on a "rock-paper-shotgun" approach to fighting (sometimes literally), he can shuffle through his arsenal with rapid attacks, though only a small fraction of it is necessary.
Catalyst: His ring. Team:
History: ???
Personality: Yuudai rarely communicates with words, body language, or, really, anything aside from violence. Despite that, he doesn't seem particularly inclined towards it, often actually taking great care not to cause any (unintentional) harm. He seems to be somewhat simpleminded, labeling everything as either good, bad, or neither, then acting accordingly. Although a person's actions do factor into it, Yuudai seems to mainly focus on the motives behind them, such as altruism, selfishness, or necessity.
Although Yuudai is only ever exceptionally violent with people doing something notably bad, usually just using a paper fan or paper shurikens for everyone else, he fact that he has absolutely no ill intent behind any of his actions tends to unnerve people.
That, and he doesn't seem to react while you're talking to him. It takes a few moments for him to process information in the first place, but he doesn't move either way.
Other: - Occasionally greeted by big men in suits. - Rumor 1#: He comes from a dangerous family. - Rumor 2#: He is actually a robot designed by the government. - Rumor 3#: Reincarnated weapon otaku, now gang boss. - Rumor 4#: Was once seen smiling with a girl. - Rumor 5#: Magical chemical cooking. (DO NOT EAT) - Rumor 6#: Amazing at karaoke.
Name(if any): Kuharu Zakura Nickname(s): The Eternal Spring Blossoms Preferred Gender: … Male? Sexuality: Bisexual Appearance: Always wears this, even in the winter. Doesn't seem to mind, though.
Powers: Wild Growth - Kuharu can make plants grow rapidly, even in places where they would not normally be able to. While they are growing, he can shape them freely, and they become impressively sturdy once they reach full size. However, while the growth is extraordinarily fast relative to the plant's natural growth, it still takes several seconds to reach a useful size, making it better used for fortifications.
Photosynthesis - Kuharu restores his energy whenever he is in light. This energy can be used to fuel his powers and recover from damage by regrowing. If the light is too dim, he cannot photosynthesise.
Minor Miracle - Kuharu can use the energy he gets from photosynthesis or faith to produce minor miracles such as curing ailments or improving someone's luck slightly.
History: Inhabiting a lone cherry tree in an isolated corner of the local park, Kuharu made his tree bloom every spring for the confessions underneath his branches. However, for a young man who was moving away before then, Kuharu decided to blossom quite early, at the beginning of winter. Empowered by the thanks that the youth--and a few others--gave to him, Kuharu could stay in bloom through the spring and summer.
Because of this unusual occurrence, many different types of people began coming--mostly just the curious and the usual romantic hopefuls, but there were a few superstitious people that seemed to hold some kind of faith towards him. As the believers grew, Kuharu eventually gained his current powers.
He happily greeted the members from the Obake Shrine, who were investigating him; they deemed him harmless.
Personality: Kuharu’s tension levels swing wildly from fluffy and carefree to manic levels of excitement. He is wholly altruistic and refuses to do anything that will hurt others, but has a certain naivety when it comes to trusting people. Although he seems to enjoy close contact with others, he also seems to try and keep a certain distance from them.
Seems to have masochistic tendencies.
Other: - Likes it when people carve their love(initials) into his body. - People ask him for help with relationships, but he doesn't know anything about love, so he just gives them a little luck and hopes for the best. - Trees are hermaphroditic
Name(if any): Kyorinrin Nickname(s): (Scraps? Bookwyrm?) Preferred Gender: Male sounding Appearance: An eastern dragon made out of scrolls, at his full size he stands/floats at about the height of a human. He's still rather 'fresh' so he is not too fancy looking, but he has found some rather ornate scrolls as horns and has started to incorperate books as hands/feet. He has room to grow as he comes across more things to assimilate.
Mundane form: Can take the form of a large scroll. The contents of it can be whatever he desires it to be.
Shikigami?: No Onmyouji: Tier: 1 Alignment: Yang, Earth Sigil: A bound scroll Powers: Walking Library: He can eat scrolls and books and whatnot and slowly absorb their knowledge. He can also generate said consumsed books at the cost of his own health/magic. A normal sized book will last him about two weeks, and the older it is the tastier it is to him. Also creating books from his own form takes about half that time.
Book...nesis: Can telekinetically move books/scrolls/paper around
Paper generation: He can create paper and books using his magic.
History: Born of the scrolls of the Obake shrine and after giving some papery justice to the neglectant caretaker he's been meandering about the shrine ever since. He's sort of become a librarian of Onmyouji texts and it turns out that's actually pretty useful so there is a sort of unspoken agreement to not go after him as long as he doesn't cause any more harm. He has a tendency to occasionally eat some of the texts, but they'll inevitably reappear on the shelves after he's done with them in a better state than before.
Personality: As a yokai created from neglected scrolls, he's quite aggresssively protective when it comes to written knowledge. Don't go cutting up or burning any books or you'll find yourself smacked about by an blindly enraged living encyclopedia, it can be quite hard to calm him down when he gets like that. He values knowledge a lot, and likes to show off his own if people let him. He even tends to regurgitate whatever he knows about a topic he's thinking about when he's nervous or scared. He's a very peaceful yokai as long as you don't trigger him and treat books respectively, loving to help anyone learn as well as seek out new tasty knowledge to add to himself.
Name: Megumi Nijima Nickname(s): Age: 16 Gender: Male Sexuality: Bisexual Appearance: Megumi is short, and, to be frank, fairly cute. He stands at only 5'2, and has big, dark, doe-like eyes. His hair is black and usually on the longer end of average, making him look like a tomboyish girl. A couple of his hairs always stand up, no matter what he does. In terms of overall figure, he's fairly slender and lean. He has a soft voice, and is an excellent singer, though he's a bit embarrassed about it.
Previous Onmyouji?: Nope.
Shikigami: None yet.
Alignment and Fighting Style: Megumi's alingment is Yin Metal. can use his digits to lift and move objects using electromagnetism. He uses his digits to direct a maximum of 10 objects, with each finger able to lift up to 20 pounds. This means that with each hand he can lift 100 pounds total, up to 200 if he's using both hands. Objects being moved by his telekinesis are tangible even for spirits, and spiritually sensitive beings will be able to see a bright blue aura around them. He can not manipulate living things with this power, though dead organic matter works fine.
By levitating a small object between his hands and rapidly spinning it, he can store potential energy in it. This attack is called his "Magnet Gun." It's a little bit like a rubber band. It takes about five seconds for him to charge a shot, and upon releasing it, it fires with supersonic force. It's extremely powerful, but the recoil alone dislocates his shoulder, so he doesn't use it much and once he does he's not going to be doing much else.
Catalyst: A set of 10 rubber rings, one for each digit.
History: After a certain incident at his school, Megumi has gone to live with his aging grandma and help take care of her. In an attempt to fit in, and in spite of his better judgement, went to trespass in Obake Shrine, thus signing himself down to never return to his old life.
Personality: Good natured and easily frightened, Megumi is not really suited to battling all manner of spooky things. He does not want to be a hero. He wants to watch magical girl anime and play trading card games. But unfortunately, he has a strong sense of duty, and deep down, is very ambitious and lusts for power. After a certain incident at his school, he was made an outcast. Secretly, he wants to get revenge on everyone that ever wronged him. He dislikes when the strong pick on the weak, but he particularly dislikes it when he's the weak one. In terms of intersts, Megumi enjoys various anime, video games, cosplay, soccer, and trading card games. Though he is frightened by the idea of spirits of dead people, he nonetheless has an interest in the occult and scary stories. It's only recently that he started to believe in it, though. There is in fact a laundry list of things Megumi is creeped out by or scared of, including but not limited to: Bugs, ghosts, undead, bats, barbers, lightning...He doesn't like to admit it, but he's very easily frightened. Other: Pardon my Spirits
Name: Aika Hirabayashi Nickname(s): Highly inadvisable Age: 22 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: Aika is 170cm(5'8) tall and possesses a muscular build.
Previous Onmyouji?: Yes, for three years at the Obake shrine Shikigami: -blank for now- Sigil and Location: -blank for now-
Alignment and Fighting Style:
Yin – Fire
For Aika, it is all about the up close and personal. Aika likes nothing more than to use her speed and power to pummel an enemy yokai into nothing but spiritual dust. Her style may lack finesse, but it has plenty of force to back it up.
Catalyst:A bracelet. Aika hasn’t bothered to give it a name.
Team: -blank for now-
History: Aika comes from a mildly wealthy family, much to the contrary of her general image. As a teenager, she began to lose her way, and fell in with a rough crowd. She was the aimless type that couldn’t see any meaning in applying herself to studies or other causes, and so simply wasted time with her gathering of equally aimless friends. She caused her family no shortage of consternation back in the day, not only getting into trouble but raising serious questions over her ability to be a proper part of society in the future. They had hoped for a respectable daughter, and Aika was proving to be anything but.
About four years ago, her group came under attack by a rogue spirit, which was defeated by Onmyoji from the Obake shrine before it could kill her. After a while of soul searching, Aika made up her mind to volunteer herself at the shrine, having found the cause she had always been lacking. She eventually discovered a talent for Onmyodo herself, and since then has been an Onmyoji at the Obake shrine. Her parents were delighted to find her finally doing something respectable, but they might be less so if they ever found out why she was really there. For Aika, it is enough to dedicate herself to a cause she finds worthy.
Personality: Aika is a largely stoic person, preferring not to waste words on small talk and banter. She has little tolerance for people horsing around in the middle of important business, and is likely to lose her temper at anyone taking things less than seriously when it counts. She often appears to be uncaring, but her entire motivation for getting into this way of life was to help people, and that’s what she does, even if she does it without a smile.
It would be easy to think of Aika as joyless, but there are two great joys she partakes in at varying times. Aika loves to beat down rogue yokai, and is even partial to a good sparring bout, although she’ll make sure not to hit too hard against a friendly opponent. If she can’t find anything better to do, she’ll be found punching something, be it a training dummy or a hostile being. Her other great joy in life is alcohol, which is something of a bad habit she picked up in her wasteful days. Aika can knock them back like the best of them, and if she is joined in drinking, she will inevitably turn it into a competition. She tries not to drink before doing anything important.
Previous Onmyouji?: Yes, in a shrine in Kyoto linked to the Narumi Detective Agency. Shikigami: Sigil and Location: Alignment and Fighting Style: Yin - Earth Keito is a capable fighter, employing the use of a sword or even a wooden sword as a catalyst. His catalyst can be any sword-like weapon he can get his hands on, but he has a ceremonial sword he keeps separate and uses for especially troublesome exorcism. He is generally very well-rounded being that of Earth alignment, on top of being Yin, meaning he can fulfill any role in combat. Defense, offense, or finishing blow.
Uniquely he has the ability to use the other elements to a minor extent. Taking advantage of this, he generally combines them to create a more potent combination. On their own they don't seem to have much effect, but say he fortifies his weapon with Earth, and then overlaps Fire that fuels it, he creates a reaction that gives him a boost in power. He likes to announce "Best Match" whenever he does something like this.
Catalyst: Koudouken This is a katana given to him from his previous part time in Kyoto. The weapon was made specifically for his usage, but due to common sense he can't and shouldn't take it with him unless a dire incident occurs. This weapon also has tapped into it an affinity with the earth element. It's name means "underworld sword", the kanji for "underworld" in this case also meaning simply "ground".
Team:
History: Keito grew up in Kyoto surrounded by ancient Japanese history, but he never knew he would be encountering it so intimately. A decently high grading student with an affable amount of popularity for his quiet and cool type act which is only cool in highschool, he encountered yokai in Kyoto, awakening to his third eye there, allowing him to see yokai. He was subsequently saved by the Narumi Detective Agency. He trailed them after that out of interest, but soon became convinced and took on a new part time as a supernatural detective, learning all about the other world during his time here.
He worked with them unofficially after school, forgoing club activities until the end of Junior High. A lot had happened there as he watched the story of a great onmyouji and his shikigami army unfold, but soon it was time to part as his family moved to Kokona. With some help from the agency he was pointed to a particular shrine that could use some extra help.
Personality: Keito's good looks and cool attitude make him an easy person to admire, but in actuality he's thinking about some rather frivolous things like food and tv shows when he seems to be in deep thought. He has potential as far as detective work goes, and can line the dots when it's crunch time, as well as due to his very carefree train of thought, can summon courage quickly where others may falter. As a student he makes good scores, but never the top, he's fairly athletic besides that thanks to all the time in Kyoto running around after and against yokai.
At his worst he's moody and cranky and liable to ignore others, and at his best he's quite generous without much change in attitude. He's also a big fan of hero shows, Kamen Rider specifically, and always names his killing blows in such a manner. Though he can use a sword, the way he uses it is very different to how one would've learned it in kendo. If asked he would say he learned it from watching someone.
Combos Fueling Combos (Wood -> Fire) WILDFIRE - The weapon alights with intense and wild far-reaching flames for a few swings before burning away the weapon if it's made of wood. (Fire -> Earth) ASH - Usable only with a metal weapon, he can whip up a small ash storm to blind foes. (Earth -> Metal) SHRAPNEL - Upon applying, blasts the rock that make sup the blade and sprays shrapnel. (Metal -> Water) WASH WASH SLASHING - Cleans the weapon and gives it a shine. It's actually kind of useless. (Water -> Wood) OVERGROW - Allows him to increase the size of his weapon and grow it into various shapes.
Fading Combos (Water -> Earth) MUD - With a swing can fling mud at enemies to slow them down. (Wood -> Metal) CUTTER - Creates a wooden weapon with a steel blade out of the catalyst, making it a very light slashing weapon. (Fire -> Water) STEAM - This combo works the other way around too. Creates a steam cloud to hide with. (Earth -> Wood) FOREST - Tiny trees grow from the earthen blade, and maybe even flowers. It's a bit heavy and doesn't serve much of a purpose. (Metal -> Fire) TEMPERING - Creates a tempered and fine steel weapon. It's also dangerously hot.
Reverse Combos (Earth -> Fire) MOLTEN - Only lasts a single swing and destroys the catalyst if it's wooden or flammable. Flings hot earth at enemies that burns and hardens. (Metal -> Earth) DIAMOND - Earth is applied over the metal, creating a dense and heavy mineral-like quality for a heavy-hitting weapon. (Metal -> Water) FROST - Applying cold water and then by extension ice creates a freezing blade.
Name: Hashimoto, Takemi (橋元赳美) Nickname(s): None Age: 17 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: Takemi is around 165 cm tall and has a lean, wiry build. She has shoulder-length, black hair that’s almost always tied up into a ponytail.
Previous Onmyouji?: No Shikigami: None Sigil and Location: None Alignment and Fighting Style: Yin fire aligned, Takemi relies on her athletic speed in fights. Her physical strength is somewhat above average, although not exemplary. Using a baseball bat as a club serves her well enough, and she knows how to throw a good punch. Catalyst: a necklace with a simple pendant. Team:
History: Takemi’s been able to see spirits from a young age, or at least, she can sense them around. She’s sensitive to the energy they give off, whether it’s a soul lingering on the school roof, or the malaise that infests just about every subway station she’s been in. Figuring out what they all are is the main reason she took an interest in the occult. Collecting and searching out rumours about local occult phenomenon to see whether or not they’re true leads her to interesting information; she has contacts who like to do the same thing around the city and in nearby towns. According to Takemi, there’s not a single scrap of gossip or rumours within the school that doesn’t escape her knowledge: sooner or later, it all reaches her. Unfortunately, this includes the things that people say about her behind her back. She’s well aware of the people who think of her as a creepy idiot.
Personality: Bright and cheerful, Takemi is an optimistic person and is unashamedly enthusiastic about things that interest her. She loves the occult and will talk to anyone who’ll listen to her about the latest thing she’d been reading about. In terms of schooling, she’s fairly studious, even if she finds some subjects boring, and she maintains good grades.
When it comes to personal problems, she prefers to keep quiet about them, even to close friends. Mostly this is because she tends to downplay them or that the people she’s talking to have worse problems going on in their lives, so her complaining to them would make her sound whiny. Why would she complain about the small, petty things that annoy her to someone being bullied on the daily?
Other: A member of the girl’s baseball team at school, she is known for having good technical skill at bat and for her speed in the right field. She's somewhat claustrophobic and horribly afraid of needles. She's able to manage these fears in some capacity but is really embarrassed about both of them, especially the fear of needles. She tries her best to not let people find out about them because of that embarrassment.
Name: Kazumi Ōmiwa Nickname(s): Micchan (Nickname, given by his former master); Gluttonous Calamity (Former Title); White Snake of Mt. Miwa (Former Title) Preferred Gender: Male Sexuality: Heteroromantic Demisexual Appearance: Human - As a human, Kazumi assumes the appearance of a somehow delicate looking young man standing at around 1,74 m (5'8½") with a pale skin tone and lean build. He has bright red eyes with vertically slitted pupils - remniscent of his identity as an Uwabami - and his hair is, much like his scales, pure white and, due to his own lack of willingness to worry about It, usually wore in a lazy fashion, letting his bangs - that can easily reach his chin length in the sides and reach the upper part of his nose in the center - freely fall over his face. Youkai - As a youkai, Kazumi assumes the appearance of an abnormaly large white snake, reaching overwhelming 12.8 m (42 ft) in length and having enough width to easily swallow a horse without even fully stretching his mouth - size that he mentions as being "pretty small" when compared to his former size. Much like his human form, his youkai form has bright red eyes. Shikigami?: Yes Onmyouji: TBD Tier: 3 - Formerly 4, but largely weakened due to his unwillingness to devour other beings. Alignment: Yin Fire Sigil:
Powers: In his human form, Kazumi's fighting style largely relies on his overwhelming physical prowess - partially carried over even while retaining his considerably smaller human form - to deliever vicious quick blows in an abnormally fast speed to instantly cause great damage to less durable enemies, largely making use of the nimbleness of this form to overcome the large reduction of durability caused by lacking his scales. In his Youkai form, Kazumi either makes direct use of his overwhelming size and weight to directly crush smaller beings with his body, makes use of a similar tatic as constrictor snakes, latching into it's targets body through the use of his recurve rows of teeth and using his body to coil around the target and make use of it's abnormally strong body to "squeeze" the victim to death - though finding a target for such a technique is a challenge on itself, since the sheer size of Kazumi's body makes the whole process somehow redundand when fighting smaller beings - or directly swallows his target whole. On the opposite of his human form, though, his snake form is terribly slow on earth and terrifyingly troublesome to maneuver, being tremendously inconvenient when trying to fight in an urban environment.
Shapeshifting: Being a Uwabami, Kazumi naturally has the ability to change his form to suit his needs, being able to not only change between human and youkai form but also assume the form of a pletora of different animals or even objects, though doing so greatly reduces his natural advantages. He is also known to be able to change the size of his snake form, being able to freely assume smaler forms to avoid causing much environmental damage while moving around in his yokai form. Snake Charmer: Being a sovereign amongst snakes, Kazumi only has the ability to communicate with snakes and summon them to his aid whenever he wants but also seems to naturally attract those beings, to the point of randomly finding himself surrounded by snakes whenever he decides to visit the countryside. Apparently, this ability also affects snake-like youkai, making them naturally feel some goodwill or even attraction towards him. Water Affinity: Kazumi seems to naturally hold some power over water, not only being completely immune to pressure and easily breathing under water but also capable of controlling water to a certain extent. With that being said, while at his peak he could easily cause floods and control large volumes of water, it seems that his decision to avoid eating other sentient beings and the weakning brought by doing so for a few centuries made him unnable to make use of most of his influence over water, making it useless for anything other than small party tricks. Devouring: As expected of a being known for their unlimited gluttony, every Uwabami has the ability to not only consume an endless amount of pretty much anything - for the giant snakes have a diet that varies from animals to humans, other youkais or even the local vegetation as long as they feel like it - but also seen to be capable of converting all this matter into strength, using it to gradually grow bigger. With that being said, this trait is hardly advantageous for the species as not only the benefits they gain from eathing anything other than beings with vast spiritual energy such as talented humans, Omniyouji or other youkai, is mostly negligible, hardly worth the bother, but the after effects of failing to do so seen to be specially harmful, greatly weakening them after large periods of "abstinence" - something that is clearly seen by how Kazumi actually dropped a whole grade after deciding to stop eating sentient beings. Physical Prowess: Being a member of a species known for their remarkable strength, Kazumi naturally has an ungodly amount of strength, being able to content with an oni - a kind of Youkai known for their remarkable strength - even in his human form - quite the feat considering that he is currently greatly weakened compared to his former self.
History: TBR Personality: If asked to describe Kazumi in a single word, most of his acquaintances would certainly choose the word "misleading" as soon as possible. That being said, the why for this quick choice of wording isn't exactly mysterious even for anyone that manage to forcefully interact with Kazumi until the true self of the man appears, as the behaviour of the ancient youkai isn nowhere near what one would expect from his constantly emotionless face, being, in fact, the exact opposite of what his face constantly displays: Mischievous, easygoing and surprisingly fun-loving, Kazumi has a naturally pleasant character, treating pretty much anyone that isn't inherently hostile to him in a friendly manner in despite of their standing or species (though that's hardly noticeable since even them his tone stays neutral) and seens to be an inherently gentle and peace loving individual, to the point of refusing to devour other sentient beings in despite of the fact that doing so would make him considerably stronger. Other: - Kazumi seems to be extremely fond of using his inherently emotionless countenance to utter the most absurd things while maintaining a straight face, largely enjoying the shocked reactions of those who don't know his true self. - In despite of his identity as an Uwabami - a kind of Youkai known for their extreme gluttony and fondness of eating human beings - Kazumi seems to be strongly against eating sentient beings. - His current alias, Kazumi Omiwa, is naturally not the original name of the White Snake, being, in fact, the name given to him by a Shinto Priest who once befriended him. - Pardon my spirits
Name(if any): It Has No Name Nickname(s): Clamps, GONG, The-Lizard-With-The-Head-of-A-Bell-Shrine Preferred Gender: Feminine Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: This Waniguchi is four feet and five inches long, about two feet tall, and weighs at around sixty pounds. The bell-shrine that forms its head is fairly rusty and makes a distinctive metallic groan whenever it opens and closes.
Shikigami?: Yes Onmyouji: [Blank to be filled in] Tier: 2 Alignment: Yang Wood Sigil:
Powers: Bite - Being composed of an old Shinto bell, the nameless creature has a strong gripping power with its makeshift bell head and jaws and can keep a good and intense grip that requires quite a bit of shaking to remove. Ring Ring - This Waniguchi has a most peculiar feature, it can weaponize noise. By quickly moving its jaws up and down it makes an annoying sound that, while it doesn't physically harm on a grand scale it could eventually cause tinnitus if someone listens to it enough! Beyond that these jaw movements are used in a makeshift echolocation for navigation.
History: Long ago, around a hundred years ago, there used to be a shrine that was lost to history. However what wasn't quite lost was one of the shrine bells that was left behind to rust; for that bell would undergo the metamorphosis and become a Waniguchi. Emerging from the swampland below came the nameless creature that would ring in the night. It traveled Japan without any regards, simply making noise and awaking countless families in the middle of the night and early morning. After several complaints were being lodged around the vicinity of the Obake Shrine a few priests guided the creature to its domain in order to quell the noise violations.
Personality: This nameless, well apart from whatever nicknames she is given, creature is rather bestial in its ways. It haves few grand goals and only seems to wish to move around, chew on various substances. It is a clumsy creature that constantly bashes headfirst into things, what with a lack of eyes. While it is rather, "simple", it does seem to take joy in causing annoyance to those who are sleeping.
Name: Samuru Amakusa Nickname(s): The Exchange Student Age: 18 Gender: Male Sexuality: Bisexual Appearance: Picture already shown. Previous Onmyouji?: Yes and no; he's a Catholic Exorcist. Shikigami: The Angel Ramiel, responsible for Divine Visions and Hope. Sigil and Location: Two silvery-white marks on the back shaped like wings.
Alignment and Fighting Style:
Earth - Yang
Samuru, by holding out his cross, can create a barrier of any single element, whether it be Earth or Fire or even Wood. This barrier can reflect and deflect damage, and can be re-sized and re-shaped to protect a specific area or cover more ground (up to a small house) or stretch itself into a dome or sphere (also up to a small house). He can also use his barrier as a form of offense by 'pushing' it to attack a foe, whether human or Yokai; his favorite tactic is projecting the barrier as a sphere and rolling over the potential foe with it like a hamster in a ball.
Catalyst: A small cross, tiny enough to fit in the palm, that is made of Jade.
Team: Keito's, hopefully.
History: Samuru Amakusa was born in Nagasaki, to a family of Japanese Christians who were part of the Society of St. Jude, a group of Exoricists who were dedicated to keeping the peace between the Supernatural and the Mortal worlds. A secret branch of the Catholic Church formed from misfits, outcasts, and even heretics whose prowess in fighting Supernatural foes was too valuable to waste, the Society of St. Jude deviated from the official party line of the Cathollic Church by emphasizing a single Bible Verse: All things are lawful to me, but not all things are beneficial. To the Society, this meant that if something was both beneficial and contradicted the Church's official doctrine, then it was to be allowed.
Thus, Samuru was raised in an environment where casual association with 'Witches', 'Sorceresses', and Supernatural Creatures was permitted and encouraged even as he learned theology and the doctrines of the faith. And so he was happy, as he had both a faith that provided meaning and identity in an unfair and changing world, but was free from demands to hurt others and hurt himself at the same time. And it suited him well, for he was not only expected to work with other practitioners of Magic, but also live with them; he was going to be sent to the Obake Shrine when he turned 18, so that he can learn from, and teach, other people.
Personality: Samuru is a kind and happy person who likes helping people and loves new positive experiences. He likes reading, writing, and researching various subjects and wants to acquire an encyclopedic memory so that he can provide information to others who need it. Quick to fight and quick to make peace, Samuru's prime emotion in battle is compassion even for the opponent, as this is a world where most motivations are understandable or even forgivable.
Other: Pardon my spirits.
Name(if any): Ramiel Nickname(s): Angel of Hope, Angel of True Visions, The Revealer. Preferred Gender: Male Sexuality: Asexual, Panromantic Appearance:
Alternate Form
Shikigami?: Yes. Onmyouji: Samuru Amakusa Tier: 2; Ramiel was originally more powerful, but has a power limiter to 'sync' himself with Samuru's strength. Alignment: Yin Fire, believe it or not. Powers:
Analyze - Find out an enemy's Elemental Weakness. Precognition - Can see a brief vision of the future once per Story Arc. Illusion - Can take on the form of an ordinary high school student (See Alternate Form). Weapons Master - Instantly master any mortal weapon he holds; this does not apply to supernatural artifacts.
History: Ramiel was once one of the most powerful Angels of Heaven, but chose to bind himself to Samuru in order to follow a mysterious order from The Divine. Or at least, that's what he says. In truth, Ramiel has realized that the world he is part of is a light-hearted and non-crapsack one, so he is free to neglect his duties a little and pal around with mortals. That and enjoy mortal luxuries like video games and mortal fiction.
Personality: Ramiel is carefree, kind, and a bit of an 'ethical hedonist'; he wants to enjoy life without hurting people. He loves exploring the city at night, eating mortal delicacies, and again, video games and fiction. The Angel also gently ribs people about the fact that he cannot grow fat or old or ugly, which can get on people's nerves if done too frequently. Note however that in cases where Samuru and his friends are in genuine danger, this attitude is quickly shaken off, and Ramiel helps with maximum dedication. He also tends to act like he is older and wiser than the other Shikigami; it remains to be seen if that is the case.
Other: Ramiel, like all Shikigami, can grow as Samuru gets more powerful. But unlike other Shikigami, Ramiel is recovering powers he once had, not gaining new strength.
Name Has no name, so she simply goes by Obariyon. Will gladly accept a name if she ever becomes an shikigami.
Nickname(s): Obariyon, Yukiyon, The Piggyback Monster
Preferred Gender: Demigirl, due to the fact that she's neither, but holds more feminine qualities than masculine.
Sexuality: Demiromantic Demisexual
Appearance: Human Forme: In her human form, Obariyon takes the appearance of a little girl dressed in light blue pajamas. She has metallic blue eyes, bright skin, and silver colored hair that's styled in two low braids. Over top everything, Obariyon wears a white cat hoodie as well as similar colored leg warmers.
Yokai Forme: In her Yokai form, Obariyon takes a more impish appearance with pasty white skin. She's fairly small for an imp but maintains all the same features, like a slender tail, pointed ears, wings, and sharp talon-like claws. Shikigami?: Nope
Onmyouji: Nope Nope
Tier Tier 1
Alignment: Yang Water
Sigil:
Powers: Shapeshifting: Much like other yokai, Obariyon can shapeshift into a more human form, a little girl. This doesn't really grant anything to Obariyon, other than it's much more appealing that her yokai form. She only really changes back when she's forced to or has not choice.
Weighted Companion: Obariyon has the ability to alter the weight of her body. In doing such, she could be thrown towards enemies and latch onto them, thus increasing their weight with every step they take. Can be used in other situations as well, if one needs something heavy.
Coin Vomit: In her legend, Obariyon is known for turning into a bag of coins if she's successfully removed and taken to someone's home. Well, the same is seen here, as Obariyon can force herself to spit out gold coins whenever she enters the home of someone she's gotten a piggyback ride of. Take that as you will, whether it be useful in the future or not.
Piggyback Buff: Being a Yang Water, Obariyon specializes in support and buffing her friends. In this case, Obariyon can increase all the abilities of anyone she's riding on the back of as well as dispel any negative effects put on them. The only downside to this is that, when first utilize this move, she can't control her weight and will grow heavier for every step the person takes. However after the first time, this does not happen. History: Not much is really known about Obariyon. She's been trying very hard, for a while now, to find a home that she could live in and a place where she could receive a piggyback ride without having to forcefully latch herself onto a stranger to get. She believed that taking the appearance of a little girl would help her get a new home, but people just managed to be even more ruthless with her when she tried to climb onto them, despite most not being able to see her. Due to lack of conversation with other yokai, Obariyon can only say the name of her species and nothing more.
Personality: Unlike most Tier One yokai and obariyon if the same kind, Obariyon is not as mischievous as her legend lets on; unless provoked that is. She pretty lazy when it comes to walking around and doing anything really. She's the kind of girl that would sit in one spot, stare at a wall, and be completely pleased with doing that for the rest of her life. She has a hard time interacting with others, coming off as weird or rude, but once she gains more experience, Obariyon can be very nice and sweet, as well as gentle and a pretty good person to snuggle with if you just happen to find her sprawled on the floor with nothing else to do.
Name: Momo Mochizuki Nickname(s): The Oni of the Obake Shrine Age: 17 Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Previous Onmyouji?: Yes Shikigami: Akiko Sigil and Location:Back Alignment: Yang Metal Fighting Style: Due to her alignment she isn't suited for being the one at the frontline, instead Momo prepares the ritual to exorcise or banish the demon. She can summon and control black chains which she can use to restrain the target or as a way to defend herself, this chains can be broken with some effort so the target must be weakened before she attempts the exorcising ritual. Once the target is unable to escape, she puts on her black Oni mask, looks into the Yokai’s eyes (or just look at them if they have no eyes) and borrowing the power of the king of hell Enma she sends the evil spirit back to hell, or where it came from. This process may take a while depending on how powerful the Yokai is and how weakened it is, if the Yokai released himself during the process, the ritual is aborted and Momo would have to start from scratch. In case she needs to defend herself Momo carries a steel bat with her and despite her slender figure, she's quite strong. Catalyst: A black Oni mask Team: (Optional/Unneeded)
History: While Momo was born without any complications and was a healthy baby, both her family and the medical staff couldn't overlook a certain aspect of Momo; her crimson-red eyes. Since she didn't have any signs of vision problems, it was dismissed as just a weird mutation and life moved on. Unsurprisingly in school, she gained a lot of unwilling attention for those eyes, some thought they were cool, but the majority thought they looked like the eyes of a demon. Rumors about her being secretly a demon in disguise, that the student who got a terrible fever had looked her in the eyes, that she could lift objects with her mind, etc began to spread around school, causing many to distance away from her.
Still, Momo did not want to cause trouble for the teachers and her parents so she simply shut up and ignored any talks behind her back. Eventually, as the years passed rumors would stop and while she did not have many friends and was still considered a weirdo by some, it's not like she cared much. Things would get weirder for her when she started seeing strange things, orbs of light, animals that could pass through the wall like it was nothing and all another sort of weird stuff. Had she finally gone mad?
She needed someone to give her answers, and telling her parents or anyone at school would mean more problems to her, who was already considered a weirdo. As a last resort, she went to the Obake shrine in search for answers. Hearing that she was a medium wasn't as a big surprise as she would have thought, she was associated with the supernatural since she could remember so it wouldn't be much of a stretch that she had some supernatural abilities. Seeing as there were not many active Onmyouji, she offered her help to protect the city from malicious Yokai. Because she was already involved and it was impossible to ignore the strange occurrences and return to her normal life.
Personality: A no-nonsense, serious and a workaholic person, Momo doesn't like to bother people with her problems and has the bad habits of trying to do everything alone. She isn't very patient and gets frustrated if things don't go how she expected them to go. Momo doesn't have many hobbies, spending most of the time studying and helping in the shrine in what she can, but in her little free time she likes to watch horror movies, though when asked she will say that the purpose of this is for “Psychological training”. She is very obedient and loyal to orders from those she considers her superiors and it would take a lot for her to disobey an order.
Other: Pardon my spirits
Name(if any): Akiko Nickname(s): The wandering earthquake of Kantō, Preferred Gender: Female Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: In her human form Akiko stands at 6 feet tall and looks like she is in her late twenties, with long black hair and her horns taking the form of hair ornaments. She gives the impression of a noblewoman at first glance and usually has a small smile on her face. She is also never seen without her sword at her side, which may make some people who meet her uncomfortable. When she reveals her true form Akiko´s skin becomes reddish, her horns turn black and grow larger, her iris becomes crimson red, her hair turns white and gets messier, black marks appear all over her body, just like tiger stripes, she grows to the size of 7.5 feet tall and lastly her slender figure is replaced by a more muscular one.
Powers: Swordsmanship: A prodigy since little, she could easily beat her brothers at a young age and was a formidable warrior, though nothing on the level of Miyamoto Musashi and other genius swordsmen. Super Strength: One of the defining features of an Oni. Crushing boulders, bending steel and handling a 1.7m iron club with ease are things she can easily do in her human form. But she would need to shed that form to be able to be worthy of being called “The Wandering Earthquake of Kantō” Claws: Thought almost never used by Akiko, she possesses powerful claws in her hands and feet, capable of cutting flesh like it was butter. Shapeshift An ability she trained on after hearing how Ibaraki-doji had taken on another form to recover his arm. By concentrating Akiko can copy the appearance of any person she can remember for a short amount of time. Another variation on this ability is that she can hide her oni features and look entirely human, while she can maintain that form for a long time her power is weakened. Fear Inducement: Oni are tasked with tormenting humans, and this task is not accomplished just by using physical force. By locking eyes with the target she can induce a fight-or-flight response, making the target try to escape, freeze in fear or try to attack her. The reaction, if there is even one, varies depending on the person and their current emotional state. Alcohol Tolerance: A thousand years of drinking have given her a superhuman alcohol tolerance, capable of drinking enough alcohol to kill three men, not many youkai can keep up with Akiko and she is happy to challenge anyone that claims to be able to drink more than her.
History: Pending Personality: Akiko was plagued with hate for everything living and a mad desire for power in her human life, emotions so powerful that she was changed into an Oni while living. But in a thousand years her temper that made her gain the nickname of the “Wandering Earthquake” was replaced with a boundless calm. The relative peace of this era has made her easy going, lazy and gave her a love of booze and party. As a complete opposite of her younger self, Akiko doesn't feel any hate towards humans, while she doesn't understand their motives or actions sometimes and they are prone to repeat their mistakes, she finds them amusing and tries to help them in what she perceives as their problems in her own mischievous way, like her Onmyouji having no sense of fun.
