I realise there might be some issues with the powerset I chose for him, but figured I'd give it a try.

@KoL Way ahead of you, but either way when I get home I’ll add Mephilius in.

Will also try to write for Lucifus’ sample post as well.

I'm certainly interested but I'd like to pitch my character idea before I write out a CS. For my character I'm imagining A Grey Knight from 40k. A Kaldor Drogo level badass. He's no angel, but a man blessed with such divine wrath that his mere presence on the field of battle causes lesser demons to flee lest they be slain.

Funny you should pitch that. The Machina already have a 40K Gray Knight named Inquisitor Wolf. Having one on the Angels side could be interesting.

Oh, and Silvan already has quasi space marines in the Heaven, now that I think about it. Might do you credit to look towards other sections of the 40K universe. The Machina could do with a good Tau battlesuit, or Hell could have some corrupted Machina tech as the Necron. or go Fantasy and bring out Chaos worhsipping Vikings in Hell.

Personally I think a different chapter would suit the Machina better. Like the Iron Hands (or is it Iron warriors I'm thinking of?) I didn't see this character anywhere so I must have overlooked.

Oh hey we got someone on heaven's side. Neato.

Now I can make anyone without feeling like one side has too many.

For reference from the past thread;

And yeah, a different chapter would have suited more aptly, but who can pass up those awesome Power Swords?

*exasperated sighs and inaudible mumbles* Well my hopes are shattered. My runner up chapter is the Space Wolves and they don't exactly convey an image of holiness.

Hey, I'm sure the holy people can appreciate having a clawed berserker tearing apart all the people with pointy sticks and guns so they can keep their flowing robes free of blood and guts.

Btw, Windel is a bit iffy on Heaven getting more tech-centric people. It's just a bit counter intuitive when there's the Machina who are supposed to specialize in it.

The way I had my character imagined, there would be nothing tech centric about him. There would be no wrist mounted bolter and his armor was going to just be divine-infused armor as opposed to power armor.

You don't need to change your ideas because of other characters in the RP. If you really want to do something go forward, especially if it's more straight forward member of a factions instead of some subversion.

We really would appreciate more characters that play to the spirit of the game.

Anyway, welcome.

1. Could you give a rough estimate of how many times he can possess something before being booted off the battlefield?

2. Could you make CSs for your Anima Spirit followers?

3. Could you specify what does and doesn't count as physical attacks to you? I think lasers and such should be able to affect an energy body, while conventional weapons such as swords and axes would not affect you. Keep in mind though that Machina technology is advanced enough to attack ghosts.

4. Finally, keep in mind that possessing any Machina is a very bad idea due to the fact that the Machina Leader is connected to every Machina.

Also a sidenote for everyone, you are not limited to making obly one character as demonstrated by Lmpkio. You may make as many characters as you please as long as it doesn't make any side in particular unbalanced.

1)
If he leaves a body of his own free will, he can keep going pretty much as long as he pleases. If a body he occupies is destroyed twice in rapid succession that's enough to boot him off. This means he'll usually retreat after he loses a body, depending on how badly he wants to win the fight he's in. If he takes a full post or so to rest between destructions and nobody interrupts him he should be able to keep going. No damage to his mental state is permanent, so it's important to strike while the iron is hot. Other attacks that contribute to the mental strain would of course also be a factor, such as destroying his deployed spirits or performing mental attacks.

2)
will do.

3)
To me, any attack whom's target is the physical body would be a physical attack. A laser beam's goal is to disrupt materials by flash-heating them, the damaging factor is heating physical matter rapidly. As such it's a physical attack. Nonphysical attacks would be things like soul-destroying spells, psychic assaults, stuff like that. A Machina with dedicated ghostbusters technology could certainly affect his incorporeal form, and something like the Reality Breaker would definitely work. But something like a standard Machina laser beam is going to go straight through him.

4)
I was planning on putting that in there, but forgot. Most Machina technology would be shielded in some way. He could use machina scrap to create a scrap golem, but not possess an active mech suit or something similar. Especially sentient ones.

Regarding your character's backstory. We have some ideas that may apply to it.

I can elaborate if it if you want, but it suffices to say that Animus could have a connection to Iona by the very nature of his being as an amalgamation of souls.

Due to how long these battles can be drawn out to be, I'm going to give you the max limit of two bodies per battle. Furthermore, I want you to tone down his healing-rate to something more manageable.

So long as you keep in mind that the Machina have more than just lasers; I see no problem with this.

Ok, so here's a short primer on Machina technology and weaponry, since this issue came up recently and I feel that the efforts of the past failed communicate what their standard should be. This information will likely be pined to the first page of the OOC later, along with any other glossary-like entries that come up later.
Older weapons, vehicles, etc. would be pretty much like WH40K/Halo stuff in general. Far more reliant on brute force, and more dakka to bring down the enemy. Probably the kind of stuff that the "Machina" used before, or slightly after Eos took control. Any of it left behind is literal zombie tech that is still operational and doesn't need to be scrapped because the Machina have little to no problem with long term upkeep. Of course, most of it would be retrofitted with more modern hardware as long as it remained operational and viable. Regardless, are really walking museums as far as technology goes; no one gives them credibility.

The current machina tech is indeed far more EVE Online (with all the irony this name carries) and Star Wars than the most seen examples. Most weaponry deal with some form of energy, or other arcane means of causing damage, instead of relying on blunt force impact. Phase rifles, electromagnetic grenades, pulse armaments of all forms, proton torpedoes, etc. Are more in line with what the Machina of today use as primary armaments. Force fields and teleportation/telecommunications jamming are their principal means of defense, along with highly advanced armor of all kinds and forms. Eos' preferred aesthetics are very lean and slick, with a definite refinement to their features. Of course this varies from machine to machine but, plain gunmetal, boxy-shaped weapons platforms are rare to see because not only are they non-functional, but also hell of unsightly.

Lastly but not least, almost all of the modern Machina weaponry is tuned to fight against foes invulnerable to physical damage just as much as it's tuned to fight anyone else. This is a logical extension to the fact that the modern Machina are based on Eos' systems. Fighting supernatural foes is what she was built for, thus her tech is certainly effective against anything from ghosts, to youkai, to the gods themselves. The sole exception to this is that they still haven't found a proper way to safeguard all of their systems against the corrupting power of Demonic energy.

Maybe you should use a different example than Grafdakka if you have one handy. There's not a whole lot of us left that were around for his glory days. And for the sake of new players and all.
