Casper is a small boy in a big city, swept off his feet by the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles; the sheer magnitude and landscape of it all. For lack of a better term, he is absolutely starstruck, though that may not be a good thing. His awe for America and the star-studded people within it don't mean he's well-versed in the mentality or attitude of the people there - in short, he's naïve, and wholly unaware of it. Even in Ireland he could've been considered a sheltered child, and it definitely shows in the way he acts and talks. There is never such a thing as too many second chances to him, maybe only to criminals and the pure evil of the world, both of which he's not yet encountered. There is good in everyone, even if it shines deep beneath the surface. That's Casper's philosophy. Compassion, kindness and being a helping hand is what gets someone popular, in his eyes. Place bets on how long it will take for him to realise otherwise.

▪ There is an obvious "quirk" about Casper when one first meets him - his Irish accent. While it's run-of-the-mill back home, maybe even with a few hints of an American accent interwoven thanks to his parents, in the shining jewel of America it's quite noticeable.
▪ His hands always have to be preoccupied with something. No exceptions. If he's not picking at his shirt sleeve he's pulling at his eyelashes. If he's not pulling at his eyelashes he's pushing at his lips. If he's not pushing at his lips then he'll use whatever small objects are around him to entertain himself. Someone give this kid a fidget spinner.

Popularity.
No matter how many times his father vehemently shuns the popular cliques, insisting that anyone associated with them is an indictment of the American education system, it will always be something that Casper craves. Popularity means fame. Power. Success. In an age dominated by social media, popularity means you don't even have to put effort in to get rich. Play videogames, show off your life for all to see; however you choose to do it, popularity is still one of the easiest ways to have a successful career. At least, in Casper's eyes.

▪ Nail polish and a little touch of eyeshadow. Fuck your gender boundaries
▪ David Bowie, who incidentally taught Casper to fuck your gender boundaries
▪ The popular cliques. Though it would probably be more accurate to say he idolises them
▪ The s t a r s (both celebrities and actual stars in the sky made of gas)

▪ Solid ice cream. He's got to mix it into some kind of saucy syrupy stuff before it's even remotely edible to him
▪ People who make fun of his accent
▪ Awkward situations and confrontations

▪ Clowns, thanks to a late-night watching of Stephen King's IT with his dad.
▪ Failure. It seems like such a general fear to have, but failing at even getting the name of someone right is enough to make him start shaking. Casper almost has an obsession with getting everything on-point, all the time.
▪ Death is still something that Casper hasn't come to terms with. Knowing that no matter what he does in life he'll still die and be eventually forgotten is terrifying. He tries not to think about it too much. Focus on the now.

Casper Alexander Bryant entered this world to an immense joy; on a night of celebration, where fireworks lit up the United States of America. Of course, the fireworks were hard to see from where he was - a tiny mass of land 4,147 miles away, surrounded by two people that had left the sprawling states some time ago; Samantha and Alexander Bryant. To this day, he still doesn't understand their decision to ever leave.
He was raised in Celbridge, 23km west of his birthplace of Dublin. It was a small, quaint town, with a homely school and a trouble-free atmosphere. The perfect place to raise a child. However, Casper found himself wanting more as the years passed by - perfect was boring, and boring was not for him. As he grew older, he grew more infatuated with the stories his parents told (mainly told by his dad, the "infamous Ghost") of Beverly Hills and life growing up there. How the palm trees lined the roads, leading people to wherever they might want to go in a sun-soaked paradise. How the rich and famous lived on every corner, making appearances to swarms of paparazzi and fans. How it all sounded so much better than where he was, in a town where everybody knew everybody but no one was actually famous to anyone.
Maybe it was the years of begging. Maybe it was the nagging nostalgia at the back of their minds. Or maybe it was just the want for their son to get the best in life. Whatever it was, it was good - on his 14th birthday, any kind of expensive presents be damned, Casper was greeted with the news that the family would be moving to Beverly Hills, and he would be attending Beverly Hills High. He wondered if anyone heard the screeching from America, because the whole damn town and the surrounding areas certainly did.
The following month, bags were packed, pit stops were made, and the Bryants were passengers on a boat to America, because planes were overrated. Every day of the journey was a day of celebration to Casper, just like the celebratory day he was brought into this world on. When they arrived, Cas found all those days to have been absolutely worth it. Their new house was a marvel for the eyes, a result of over a decade's worth of joint saving between his mom and dad. The whole thing was a complete dream for him - hell, it still is - and he's practically vibrating with excitement, to see what the famed Beverly Hills High has in store for him.

His name is Casper as in Casper the Friendly Ghost, because Ghost thinks he's hilarious. Casper does not.
