@KawaiiKyouko

There is one way to alleviate issues, however, if you wish to do so. Instead of focusing this as a 1x1, we could option Discipline out as a group role-play and see what kind of people may be interested in doing a casual academy story set in the early twentieth century. This would make us focus on the group with no need to make additional characters (barring NPCs), and redact our concern on worrying about Seyrun and Nadalena as main characters and instead let us breathe as we focus on an ensemble cast.

What do you think?

If we thought this approach wise, it wouldn’t take me long to add some quick information and a loose ruleset.

@Inkarnate

That sounds good with me. As long as we set down the foot on this being actually a early-20 century style RP. In that case, I'm perfectly fine with that idea.

Assuming we get the group proper, it may be a good idea. Are you sure it’s something you want to try.

Oh, I was doing a deeper analysis and I definitely like the feel this has. Simple and clean.

That image for the academy is certainly charming, but what I found interesting above all was actually that line right under Character name on the CS code. I never thought that we could do something like that with the limited options we have to work with the Guild's bbcode.

My CS will be done yet today, as long as nothing out of ordinary happens.

Yeah! I never knew we could indent a horizontal rule until my friend, @Aewin showed me with one of their posts in one of our role-plays. It’s pretty snazzy.

This needs a little modification, but I've adapted the current map of Europe Europa. Considering KoL's joining I've decided to incorporate Sabrie (it's better than what I had before, anyway) and I've threw up Nordland as well; though any adjustments to speculative borders can be made pretty easy. I'm still not sure if Eire should be part of Ilbion or not. Feel free to shoot me any thoughts at any point regarding this.

With that current political scenario, I imagine that any war that will ensue will have a drastically different outcome than its real world equivalents. Whatever happens will be interesting to see.

I know I based Espenova off the Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but I keep looking at it wondering why they would ever be scared of Xargon at all, lol. I feel like I made it a bit too big, so maybe I need to fracture a nation or three into smaller ones.

Well, size don't really matter. Amount o troops, wealth to actually pay troops, armament, that kind. Just like Germany almost beat the Soviets in WWII. Don't worry 'bout sizes

Well, they may be an unified nation in name only. Europe was and is still full of those.

PS:

Let us not forget that Espenova has a stockpile of coal that Xargon would really want to put their hands on, to fuel their war machine, just like what happened on WWII. They would have reasons to be on their guard regardless of their size simply because the enemy would have really good reasons to try to take them down.

Anyway, I always found it fun how everyone tries to invade Russia during the winter, or fails totally to prepare for the Russian winter during their efforts. I don't know what the Xargon leadership thinks, but if they are 10% more pragmatic than real world forces, this war may really have a pretty different outcome.

Well, as y’all know I do have some fantasy-oriented influences, too. I used to have a picture for a RP I never did in this setting of a girl holding a giant blue crystal in their hands, so that may be a resource I have to iron out for the setting proper. I’m influenced by Valkyria Chronicles and Izetta after all, though I don’t intend magic to really be a thing outright either. Maybe the crystals serve a similar utility to Ragnite in Valkyria Chronicles or are a resource entirely different from the petroleum/coal stand-in that it serves as in the games. Might need to be discussed or workshopped.

That could be interesting. Actually, that could be very interesting, especially if the history of the continent follows the path that seem to be common to these fantasies of having the Nordic influence over Europa be greater than the Roman one.

PS: Plus it allows opens the doors for some anachronisms/very light fantasy that may be interesting.

I haven’t thought much about the religious development beyond the idea that Nordic Paganism might’ve been reformed at some point. Our equivalents of Greece and Italy might be still following a version of Greek Hellenism rather than Christian doctrines. I’ve always been fascinated by that idea. But yeah, I’m cool with Nordic (and German by proxy) Paganism being pretty prominent in Nordland and neighboring countries. I don’t see any reason to make this super rigid in a Christian clubhouse where a “no pagans allowed” sign hangs over the ladder, haha.

Lol.

But that's a really interesting idea. In fact, I think that those nations would eventually drift to a place similar to Japan if it wasn't for Christianity. Religion would still exist, but the people wouldn't be as held back by it as they were. Mainly because old practices, like constant sacrifices, are very boring to keep up with.

Then again, if a sacrifice was an excuse for free barbecue like on Ancient Greece, I don't see why not do it every now and then.

Okay, I reworked and expanded Seyrun. I hope this helps develop the story forward at least a bit:

Seyrun Riviathan

Name
Seyrun Riviathan

Age
16

Class Year
4ᵀᴴ

Nationality
Grand Duchy Nordland.
Continental Europa's northernmost nation, widely known for its progressive ideology — including a transition to a hybrid parliamentary system sponsored by the Royal Family — and vast, nearly untapped reserves of resources.

Appearance
Seyrun is an exotic looking girl. At almost five and a half feet, she's slightly taller than most girls of her same age group, sporting a slim and well-built physique that makes her height even more apparent. Seyrun actually enjoys having a mature figure, but she can grow self-conscious if people stare at her too much. Her pale skin is typical of those who were born and raised in the North, which has a downside of making her extremely susceptible to sunburns. However, Seyrun's most distinctive characteristics are her pale blue hair and eyes, a rare hereditary trait of Nordland's people most commonly seen in the Royal family.

Background
Seyrun is the crown princess of the rapidly-advancing Grand Duchy of Nordland, a nation that's trying to leave the pre-industrial era in a better way than most of its neighbors. Such attempts include reforms in all areas of their society and a controlled exploitation of their vast stockpiles of resources. Perhaps the most jarring discrepancy is was a bloodless revolution that led to their current parliamentary regime with the royalty willingly giving up a large part of their power in order to secure a stable future to the nation.

Despite her position, however, Seyrun doesn't hold very big expectations of — or wants to — taking the throne in her life. Her parents are healthy and young. It's much more likely that the Crown will skip right into the hands of Seyrun's future heir, or heiress; something that she actually finds very reassuring to say the truth. Because she doesn't have to bother with the throne, Seyrun could live as a "tomboyish princess" that can take care of other issues rather than diplomacy and protocol. One of these pursuits is Seyrun's interest for education which she decided to make one of her life's objectives. After all, even if she doesn't get the crown, she can use whatever she learns to help her people, her family and herself grow much better in the future.

Affinities & Talents
Mathematics (Especially Geometry, Linear Algebra and Trigonometry)
Fencing
Swiming
Literature (Especially mystery and science fiction)

Additional Information
Nothing to add at the moment.
