Biography:
A grandmother raising a grandchild alone was extremely challenging. You can only imagine how hard it was in a world filled with magic and extreme scientific advances. Charlize's grandmother was a tough parent both in personal strength and her strictness. She felt this new advanced technology use was not to be replaced by a good work ethic or a traditional use of magic. However, when Charlize turned eight years old she humored the young girl and got her, her very first gauntlet. Charlie had been begging for it for years after all, and grandma's were always known for spoiling their grandchildren.

Charlize discovered her favorite use of her gauntlet were during sessions of hide and go seek. Her petite frame didn't take up much space as it was but, when she discovered she could direct light in a way to make her practically invisible- well, the kids didn't really want to play with a 'cheater'.

Charlie ended up getting herself in a lot of the wrong groups when she became a preteen. One group of girls would encourage her to use her gauntlet knowledge to shoplift for them. Soon enough this became her outlet for a good time. That was until she realized that they had been using her and not really had been her friends all along. It gave the girl a bias view on magic, despite it running the world around her.

When the world got turned upside down, Charlize's grandmother went on lock-down mode, removing all signs of frivolous magic that the two had. Though, this definitely did not stop the girl, she began looking into and researching more into the traditional ways of magic. Though she was not prevailing very well in making anything come from it, she felt like she was learning something and that was important.

Rinh [+]

Rinh Fashonti

Age: Seventeen
Gender: Female
Race: Human

Magic: In the traditional sense, Rinh's talents lie within the field of Transmutation. Specifically in the breakdown and reapplication of chemicals and elements. Her magic is performed exclusively through a Gauntlet that has been slightly modified to work with her brand of magic. Her Gauntlet breaks down concoctions and items into their chemical components and through the Gauntlet being a catalyst a reaction, or spell, is produced. An example is having vials containing water, fertilizer, and the roots of certain plants would be broken down to their base and when the Gauntlet is used to cause a reaction, fire is produced. It's a bit more complicated as it goes, and she's not nearly at the level where she's truly getting all chemical, but her affinity lies more in line with science than out and out magic.

Given that her magic is based on science and preparation, she tends to carry around vials for chemical combinations that she's familiar with.

Personality: Rinh is rather studious given that so much of her day-to-day activities involve essentially scientific research. She isn't the type to get absorbed in her studies of chemistry and the elements of the world; as she puts it: 'I'm objective, not obsessive'. Rinh takes failure harshly and personally, seeing every failed bit of chemical magic as a mark against her and her eventual reputation. It isn't uncommon for Rinh to fall into a slump after a series of failures, which is when she knows to step away, get outside, and either wait for inspiration or to socialize - whichever happens first. She is friendly enough, though she can be quite long winded and exhausting to talk to once she starts controlling the flow - but to her credit she realizes when she's doing it for the most part.

Biography: The best thing that happened in Rinh's life was being told 'no'. When she asked her parents to teach her about magic, she was met with a firm no which in turn led to her picking up books. The books didn't really help her with any sort of practical application, but it still instilled her with a drive to do more. To become a magician of note. The problem was with her parents, who weren't the biggest fans of magic despite its numerous helpful applications. Rinh didn't question their reasons, nor did she let that stop her.

Her drive was recognized when, after being found reading magic theory books in the attic, her father relented and explained their opposition. Her family had ancestral ties to nonmagical sorts who were involved in the war long before Rinh's time. Those scars ran deep and the dislike of magic was instilled in the family across generations. Old biases. Old wounds. Rinh didn't believe she had to be bound to the scars of a family she would never know while her father explained his own biases, namely how the use of magic drove the decline of natural resources and that magic itself wasn't some infinite possibility. He feared that people relying overly on magic would be like a child in the event of a magical decline.

That conversation was integral to Rinh's development. She understood, mostly, her father's beliefs but promptly disagreed with them. Still undeterred, her parents pooled some resources and gifted Rinh a gauntlet, thinking it was a fair compromise since really what could a Gauntlet do with someone coming from a bloodline of nonmagic sorts? Rinh saw both opportunity and challenge and rather than immediately start casting rudimentary spells she wanted to see how the Gauntlet worked. And how she could make modifications.

Her goal was simple in idea but far from it in reality. She could likely never use 'real' or 'traditional' magic given the bloodline of her family, so she turned to the other great power of the world: science. What was science but magic of the mind and the world around them? Was it not technically magic when water turned to ice?

Rinh brought forth the idea to her parents or really anyone who would listen of challenging the ideas of magic power. Couldn't someone with a Gauntlet be just as powerful, magically, as someone using traditional magic? Everyone she spoke to told her the same thing. No.

And every time it just made Rinh more determined.

Extra: Just a little fun fact but Rinh, when she isn't trying to break things down into elements, is a fairly decent cook.

Another, less fun fact, is that she never travels without a little notebook which contains chemical formula and compounds and is basically her entire magical diary.

Mirabelle Kingston | 19 | Half-Elf

Transformation. Mira is loosely capable of shapeshifting parts of her body: her nails into claws, for example.

PERSONALITY

Mira comes off as rather quiet and serious. Once you get to know her...that doesn't really change. However, she is a woman of action rather than words. She prefers to express her loyalty or friendship physically or through material goods. As a result, she can be rather generous if she warms up to you. On the flip side, those she dislikes get none of the love. Instead, she can be surprisingly snarky and rude if you make a bad impression with her. Mira has a rather dry sense of humor--some would say she doesn't have one at all--and it's difficult to make her smile. Despite coming off as rather introverted, Mira generally craves stimulation from the world around her and falls easily into competitive activities, such as video games and martial arts. In addition, her snarkiness seems to be lost on elven family members, sometimes making her seem meek.

BIOGRAPHY

The Kingston family are renowned for their upholding of the status quo: peace, magical aptitude, philanthropy and charity, politeness, etc. However, Mira is a blight on a pureblood elven family's perfect record. She was born of an affair, her mother merely a human. The Kingstons are rather distasteful of the mixed bloodline, but luckily for Mira, they must maintain their reputation especially now as the world falls into chaos. Mira was raised between the two families, but often made to feel like a stranger among her elven half. Outright abuse is deplorable to the Kingstons, but emotional neglect is a lot more passive.

Among the Kingstons, she grew privileged enough to have access to education in magic. Forever a disappointment to her father and his family, however, she struggled to catch on. Transformation magic came easiest to her--and she still dawdles in it from time to time--but even that proved too difficult for her among the pressure and discontent she felt from her peers and teachers. She was slowly pushed away from formal training in magic.

Needless to say, Mira is happiest at home with her mother. Sometimes she stands out among her human family: she has long and slender limbs, perceptive eyes, and her ears are slightly pointed. But they care for her all the same. School has always been easy for her whether it was upper level physics or a rough PE teacher. Even then, though, she was always chalked up to being the shy kid and generally left alone by her classmates. It seemed to suit her, and she found quiet happiness in hand held video games and other simple distractions.

Since graduating, however, she has felt lost. She works simple jobs and still lives with her mother--occasionally visiting her father's side to maintain appearances. She has a tentative interest in beauty school due to her passion for fun colored hair, and has recently worked up the courage to finally apply.

Luther is a rather silent man who mostly keeps to himself while giving off a sort of irritated aurar that sometimes causes others to avoid him, but when he does interact with others people are quick to see his laid back demeanor. He can be rather lazy actually and has a few issues falling asleep in odd places. Luther is also quite the fighter and finds himself getting into a few scrapes here and there. It's sort of a natural talent when it comes to fighting and he has come to enjoy it a bit, but he never is the one to start a fight because of what his brother taught him. Luther is also a very determined person, if he sets his eyes on something then he will do all he can to obtain it. He can also be incredibly reckless. Finally Luther is honest person who practically cant tell a lie.

Biography:
Luther grew up with his older brother Ken since their parents had been arrested for suspected murder charges. He was never told anything else, but at this point he doesn't care enough to look into it. So he simply lived with his brother at the age 6 and left the few memories of his folks behind him. Him and his brother lived within a rather poor neighborhood, but they would always manage to get by. Sadly though Luther suffered from a group of bullies that mocked him about his parents. They laughed, spat and pushed him around while stating he'd end up just like them since they had the same blood. This made Luther resent his parents even more and caused him to fall into a state of depression for awhile. Finally though he was pushed to far by the bullies when they had become more violent then usual and drew blood by slamming him into the streets pavement. Dazed and angry Luther stumbled to his feet and finally felt his limit shatter. He threw himself into the bullies and nearly fought them off, but in the end his attempt to defend himself was met with an even worse beating.

He returned home that night, beaten, bloodied and defeated. When his brother saw his condition he was quick to help him get cleaned up while questioning what happened. With shameful teary eyes Luther told him what happened and expressed his frustration with his weakness. As Luther vented out his anger and frustration he finally begged his brother to teach him magic, any kind that would help him grow stronger. Ken was of course hesitant since Luther was only 10 at the time, but he ended up agreeing to teach him something. After a few days Ken decided to teach Luther electric based magic, just like him. He was given a metal staff that was retractable and a few rings to act as his vessels. Luther was taught the basics and Ken thought that it was good to leave it for now since Luther had shown to be a quick learner. When Luther finally learned of a way to defend himself he found it odd that his bullies were no where to be seen. Confused, but happy at the same time he shrugged it off and was just pleased to have some sort of strength now with him.

As the years went on Luther grew up with a bit more confidence, though he continued to avoid people thanks to the unkind experience he had with the bullies of his past. Though with such things happening to him he let it go as he found his laid back and lazy side. Luther has grown to be a decent, quiet person who continues to practice with his magic.

Magic: Earth-based summoning

The earth magic hailing from Tembrot village is a branch of traditional magic that bases its rituals off of positive aspects related to the earth. Austerity, endurance, hard work and a strong connection to your community are seen as the most ideal characteristics one can have as a magician.

A magic ritual from another branch might require rare ingredients or something similarly extravagant; Earth rituals are different in that they involve a similar amount of effort but are focused on the willpower of the individual above all else. Possible rituals include running around a rock several hundred times, digging a giant hole and filling it up, carving ridiculously large spirals in the earth, etcetera. Even with willpower as the main focus, kinship is almost as important. Male earth magicians are often required to build ornamental mud houses to channel a paternal energy for barrier magic, while their female counterparts might be tasked with sculpting humanoid and animalian figures to channel maternal summoning magic.

Cerrad’s femininity severely hampers his ability to achieve the power of a true Tembrot wizard. He is currently able to summon a warthog piglet and an adult warthog. Summoning the adult warthog is a difficult and time consuming process, and he is currently in a tumultuous relationship with both creatures.

Biography

Cerrad grew up in a small town of earth magicians where hard work and endurance were revered. Despite relentless training by his father, Cerrad was unsuccessful in casting magic and grew increasingly bitter and frustrated, eventually deciding to live away from his parents as an act of defeat. Most of his family was patient with his incompetence and frequently reminded him that he was welcome to return, but the overly self-critical Cerrad refused and opted to live a mundane life to avoid further disappointment.

Or so it seemed, until he accidentally summoned a warthog piglet after a particularly hard day of work. It took only a small amount of time to recover from the taboo act of performing women’s magic, as he realized that this meant he wasn’t completely hopeless. For the next couple of years he trained in secrecy, with the poor results expected from someone with no magical mentor and a suffocated schedule.

Personality

Since summoning is the feminine half of Tembrot magic, Cerrad views his limited abilities as shameful and will give false and vague answers on his magic and upbringing. He is an incredibly vain perfectionist who despises being dirty in any way, and puts a large amount of effort on his appearance.

He dislikes children and animals because of their helplessness and he considers anybody who isn’t self-sufficient to be below him and unworthy of being assisted. All of his mannerisms and personality traits are a direct contrast to the ideal Tembrot magician, a fact he is acutely aware of, although mentioning it would infuriate him to no end. Cerrad has a short temper and is normally annoyed or angry, which can be easily seen by the way he grits his teeth when going through either emotion. His voice will also shift from being soft and gentle to sounding like a bitter old man while ticked off, with his traditional tastes in clothing enhancing the effect.

When a being is trapped in one of his bubbles or when the bubble pops and showers someone, that someone will begin to feel the emotion that the bubble contained. However, Vince has no control nor does he have any idea what emotion each of his bubbles contain. However, this magic is not a form of water magic as Vincent has no control over bodies of water. The emotional bubbles are just his form of emotion magic.

Personality: He is very quiet at all times, not to mention he always wears an expressionless face and listless personality, leading to people thing of him as someone who can't feel any emotions at all. In truth, he's just a laid back, "enjoy the moment" kind of guy. The only times one can see him being extremely mobile and energetic is because of any food-related events.

Biography: Vincent Wolfram was once a very energetic little boy. His family would always adore Vincent on how enthusiastic and vibrant he is about anything and everything. His smile was radiant and his laugh was infectious. He always had an uncanny ability to turn a person's frown into a cheerful grin, something that made him quite special in his family as his parents got the hint that maybe their youngest son will be a skillful emotion magician in the future. Life was perfect back then.

Until that day happened, that is.

His father is a scientist while his mom was a gifted potion maker and Vincent was allowed to explore every bit of the house except her potion chamber, where she made and stored her concoctions. Of course, when someone tells you to not do something, you have the overwhelming urge to just do it.

One night while everyone was asleep, Vincent stole the key to her mother's chamber and marveled at her mother's work. It was raining heavily that night and he couldn't switch on the lights of the risk of being caught, but the bottles on the shelves glowed in different colors that illuminated the whole room. His attention was caught by one of the bottles that glowed a soft pink. He approached it and found a tag with a symbol of a rabbit drawn into it. Vince ignored the label and opened the bottle, the smell of sweet strawberries wafting through the whole room. He couldn't handle his excitement until finally, he drank it.

Little does he know that earlier that day, his mother was creating a potion that can transform the drinker into an animal, her first ever transmutation potion. Since it was her first time, she has no clue on whether if the drinker will completely turn into a rabbit or just grow rabbit parts. She also has no idea on how to create a "turn back into a human" potion, so she decided to just leave it until she has enough knowledge about the matter.

That same night, Vince's parents were awoken by the sound of glass breaking. The whole family, including his older brother and sister, ran to the source of the sound only to find out poor Vince on the ground of the chamber, gagging and coughing. They were frozen in place and looks of horror were in their face as they helplessly watch Vince's human ears shrink and disappear as he grew rabbit ears and a bushy tail. His once-brown hair turned into bright pink along with the fur on his tail and his eyes turned completely blood red.

Because of fear, they decided to fly into another country to start anew. His mother destroyed all her potions and completely turned her back against potion-making, horrified and worried that her talent has destroyed his son's life and future. His parents decided to not let him attend any school and have him taught at home by his father who's a professor instead. They became completely protective of him, not letting him go outside to play with the other children for risk of being bullied or being tormented by society.

As a result, his once outgoing and cheerful nature was beginning to fade as time passed by. While he grew up, he was accustomed to his new life as a half-rabbit. Vince was more sensitive to sound now, capable of hearing something even from far away, and became more lithe and quick on his feet. Still, he became the Vincent that he is right now, listless and seemingly emotionless.

He was finally enrolled into a school that trains teenagers to improve on their magic and doesn't distinguish on one's appearance, their race, etc. While he's in school, his father is secretly creating a serum that will turn his son back to completely turn him back into a human, back to the boy who once smiled like the sun.

Extra: Vincent is a skilled violinist and an avid reader. He writes fictional stories in his spare time and dreams of becoming a book-writer one day.

He's really a lazy individual but makes it up for his resourcefulness on how to quickly finish his task. He's always staring into space, daydreaming about things and ideas that he could add to his novel. Vince really likes snoozing, which is what he will do every time he has the opportunity to do it. He's actually really smart for someone his age, he just lacks the energy to do it, one would say. Despite this, he is a very friendly guy once you get to know him. The only times one can see him become energetic and vigorous are in life-and-death situations, and also in cases that involves food.

Biography: The Wolframs, being half-rabbits, are known to be the most energetic of their race. So much that in every event that has sports, marathons, or anything that requires running, a Wolfram would always be present. Not only that, the family has a continued lineage of practicing kinetic energy, so you can only imagine when little Vincent came into the picture.

Vince is the youngest of three siblings, the elder brother a world renowned triathlete while his sister, the second sibling, an Internet-famous traceuse. His mother is a coach for their country's female rugby team and his father is a gym and fitness instructor. Each of the jobs that his family has was their dream come true. In Vince's case, his only difference is that he dreams of becoming a novelist and a musician.

His parents were very shocked when they learned about his dream. At first, they really found it hard to believe that a Wolfram like him would dream of a relaxed and laid back life. Where his older siblings are full of energy and always on the run, he would be snoozing and watch movies on television. And on each of their 18th birthday, the eldest wished for a mountain bike and the second running shoes while he wished for a guitar. When they're both out in the field, vigorously training and working their asses off, Vince would just stay at home, strumming his guitar and writing ideas for his novel. His whole family comically feared about his future and society laughing at him because they'll think of him as a "defective Wolfram" which they disagree upon greatly as they really, really loved him despite his peculiar personality.

Then that day happened. Vince's powers manifested and the whole family was completely shocked to learn that he had emotion magic. Emotion magic. Instead of treating him indifferently, his family even cherished him more. It's because even though the Wolfram clan has a history of body-type magic (kinetic magic), they have a very dormant magic gene that only comes once in a blue moon and grants the user mind-type magic (emotion magic).

His parents decided to enroll him in this school as it is also where his two elder siblings came from. They hoped that he can improve on his magic more and become as successful as his brother and sister before him.

Extra: Vincent is a skilled user of the guitar and violin, and is also an avid reader. He wears an eye patch on his left eye not because he's blind but because having one eye closed eventually helps him to not snooze that easily on the spot. Eventually.

Ian Argonne Graham

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Magic: Necromancy. At most, Ian is able to resurrect something as large as a medium-sized dog. The longest time he has been able to keep a (small) resurrected servant so far has been three months; after that he must perform the ritual again. He knows of the spiritual world, but his attempts to contact it or interact with it have been unsuccessful. He is decent at potion-making, though his concoctions are relatively simple.

Personality: Ian is primarily an introvert, as he hasn’t many (pleasant) experiences with others, the exception being his caretaker River. Because of that, he tends to feel rather possessive of those few who are close to him. He doesn’t mind initiating conversations, but he is reluctant to reveal too much about his past – something people are naturally curious about. There are also additional aspects which make connecting with others challenging for him, such as his aloofness, cautiousness, independence and what most others consider a very strange stance on life – but what is normal for him as a necromancer. As is usual for magicians of his kind, he views life and death as intertwined and (to some degree) interchangeable; both are to be respected and even cherished.

He is oriented towards seeking knowledge and wisdom and his intelligence shows in the ease he has learning and understanding things. To his embarrassment, he is still somewhat uncomfortable with the most recent technological advancements, since he spent most of his time indoors and the place he lives in is a tad outdated in that regard. This may make him seem old-fashioned in the eyes of others, but Ian is curious enough to get updated, as it were, in his own free time. His main interest is still magic, which he sees as the symbol of beauty and strength. Though he may seem unambitious on the surface, content to live a simple life, he is dedicated to his interests and willing to put effort when pursuing them.

Biography: Ian hails from a powerful necromancer family, famous for producing healers, exorcists, psychics and fortune-tellers, spirit communicators, dark magicians and blood magi. The Argonnes and their relatives were aware of the mana decrease and saw Ian and his weakness as being the first sign of calamity in their line. His parents have put him through gruelling training, but it was obvious that although Ian was intelligent enough to comprehend the theory, his practical performance was much poorer compared to other children. When the standard tutoring failed, his relatives attempted several rituals which were supposed to open and strengthen his connection to magic and the spiritual, but those barely helped Ian.

After all their attempts to make Ian stronger failed, they practically abandoned and exiled him, though the deal was wrapped in pretty words, pitying glances and sentiments of regret. As for Ian’s feelings on the matter, he was devastated at first, disappointed later and mostly relieved after that – he came to be glad he didn't have to compete with all of his prodigious relatives any longer, content not to be bullied for supposedly being the one who would ruin their family’s magics. Now, Ian has mostly come to accept his abandonment (or so he prefers to believe) and knows to appreciate that the person – River Graham – whom his parents have left him with has been so competent when taking care of him, and all things considered, is a good person.

Besides being enrolled in a regular school, Ian practiced his necromancy on his own and became apprenticed to River, a witch. Out of her various spells, powers and abilities, Ian was most suited to learn potion-making, since the art mainly combines ingredients that can be classified as “dead” and requires patience, finesse and control rather than (magical) power. During his schooling, he was a bit of an oddity; he was apprenticed to a woman who was technologically challenged (being at least a decade behind the times), he was the only necromancer there, he was presumed to be a bastard child and all in all, he had trouble fitting in. This only strengthened Ian’s interest in pursuing knowledge – at least books were ever-present companions. The recent mana decrease panic hasn’t affected him much, because he had always practiced his magic in private or with River, and he had never been strong initially. He does think it a shame that his potions also seem to be losing some of their potency, however, and fears what would happen if magic ceased to exist at all – he may not be proficient, but he still considers it a vital part of his life and of the whole world.

Extra:
He enjoys photography and drawing.
His bone wand and some arcane tomes are the only keepsakes he has left from his family.
He keeps several indispensable tools and basic ingredients required for necromancy and/or potioneering well-taken care of, and has a travelling case for them.
His favourite resurrected servant so far has been a raven and he keeps one at home - it's more of a pet than anything else, especially since magic has been prohibited in public.

Druidism

Druidism is a concept of magic quite similar to animancy and shamanism, although the concept of druidism relates only to the essence of nature. Whilst this greatly limits how practitioners of druidism can use their magic, there are still many different ways for a druid to use their magic against evil and for good. For instance, an accomplished druid might be able to revitalize a drought-affected forest, or go as far as shapeshifting into large predators--like a lion or a bear--to assail their enemies.

As of right now, Maemi is only an apprentice, which limits her powers even further than the average druid. In her current state, Maemi can only revitalize small patches of vegetation like grass or flowers, with trees being entirely out of the question. Outside of revitalization, Maemi happens to be quite proud of her ability to cultivate taste in food. By using her magic, Maemi can effectively change the qualities of a vegetable or a fruit. For instance, depending on the taste of the individual, Maemi can turn a sweet apple sour and vice versa.

Focused and earthly, Maemi is as hardworking as she is playful. Maemi takes great care with her actions and magic akin to how a mother would treat their child, although she struggles to see the fun in being too serious and strict. She would much rather be the upbeat type of person that strives to be friends with everyone, and yet Maemi is often met with difficulty because of this--with one example being a root that hadn't taken to her magic kindly and strung Maemi upside down by her foot.

Nakana Maemi was born near the end of a wintry snowfall in a faraway rural village. While the village had some necessities of modern life, the sylvan nature of the village had led to a secretive group of druidic practitioners generations ago to keep the yearly harvest alive and bountiful. Thousands of years later, one of their descendants would happen to be Maemi, who had been born bright-eyed and cheerful, alongside harnessing the potential to become a druid herself.

And so, like many before Maemi, her parents sought to train their daughter in woodland arts. From her beginning of weather-beaten patches of brown grass and withered flowers desperate for water, Maemi showed her potential to the village, although it would still be years before she was an accomplished druid capable of powerful and enchanting feats dedicated towards healing nature alongside harnessing it for her own virtuous motives.

Recently, Maemi has bounded herself to an oath she made one warm summer evening. Upon hearing a news report about global warming on the only television inside her household, Maemi knew there was something she could do. Forests were being shredded, drought affected the land, and entire species were dying out. Without care, it seemed the earth was about to explode, just as the world was going to as tensions begun to heighten. Change was needed, and it would be Maemi who'd bring it.

Inside her hoodie's pockets, Maemi stores the ancient pagoda wand gifted to her by her parents. A small branch extends from the main shaft, presenting an ever-growing green leaf that is attached to the wand. Additionally, Maemi seems to be quite a fine cook, being capable of preparing many dishes using local and native ingredients.
