|Fighting Style |
» The make up of his style is a mix of brawler and power house, with a few top rope moves thrown in. He likes to employ heavy blows, slams, suplexes and bombs and isn't afraid to put his body on the line. More often than not he'll work the head and body and often throws brutal looking shots. He'll take a shot off the top of a ladder or use his body as a weapon over the top rope, doing what it takes to put on a good match and leave the audience with their jaws dropped.

While he incorporates brawling blows and punishing power moves, he is also capable to wrestle techinically. While not how he chooses to fight, should he come up against someone who prefers that approach, he has enough skill to pull of a few moves of his own to best give the audience a show.

He has a resilience that not many wrestlers have and is able to bounce back from moves and hits that would finish off most others, occassionally finding a second wind at just the right time. During his days in his native UK it was his no-nonsense, give everything approach that sold him to his fans. Even during times of defeat he leaves it all in the ring.

» The Hooligan is very much born from the idea of football hooliganism, whether it is his appearance, style of fighting or even his entrance. His promo's are usually expletive laden and often mocking of his opponents, particularly against heels but less so against faces. He is often seen running to the aid of other wrestlers if they are attacked inside or outside the ring, believing that the only good fight is a fair fight. This has helped him get over with fans previously when factored in with his verbally abusive nature towards heels.

While his fair fight approach would often make a person a face, he has a distinct lack of appreciation for authority. While he does show respect to decent and honest owners, he has had run in's with those who intefere too much or overstep the mark. In the BWF (British Wrestling Federation) he had a long running feud with the owner after he tried to screw him out of a British Title match in favour of his well known favourite. This feud lasted for the majority of his remaining time with the BWF before signing with the AWE. Some key events of the feud were:

» He was arrested at the start of a PPV after the owner made false claims against him so he could not participate in a title match. When the match was due to start the owner said that he had thirty seconds to enter the arena or he would lose the match by default. After a few seconds Hughes emerged from the back driving a police car right up to the ring. He went on to win the match and the title but not before dropping the owner with the Hooligans Kiss.

» The owner eventually gathered a fairly large stable and decided that Hughes would need to defend his title in a gauntlet match at the BWF's flagship PPV. The Hooligan defeated all one after the other over an hour before the owner announced a handicap match. Hughes was left unconscious in the ring with one of the owners stable taking the title due to pinfall.

» After the handicap match title loss, Hughes disappeared for a few months listed as apparently injured. Three months later with the owner at ringside with his heel champion, the Hooligan reappeared. The lights in the arena dropped and from the entrance ramp was the sight of two flares being lit. As the light from them grew it became clear Hughes had returned and he proceeded to charge the ring, with the arena lights coming back on. At ringside Hughes laid into the owner heavily which was enough to distract his champion, resulting in him being rolled up and losing the match.

» The feud culminated in a TLC contract match, the boss and The Hooligan to go against each other. As expected Hughes ended up having to fight off the bosses stable before miraculously pulling off the win. As fans celebrated the boss stood up with microphone in hand and announced that the contract that was signed between them had fine print saying that no matter the outcome, The Hooligan was to be fired. The Hooligan was escorted from the arena by security while the boss cut a mocking promo in the ring, drowned out by a chorus of boos. The camera on the big screen cut to Hughes outside holding a bottle with a rag in its neck, he raised his hand in the air saying thank you to all his fans. He pulled a flare from his pocket and ignited the rag in the bottle. The camera zoomed out to reveal the owners expensive super car, which was soon engulfed in flames as Hughes threw the bottle at it. The crowd cheered loud enough to be heard a couple of miles from the arena, but it was the last time they were to see The Hooligan in the BWF.

The Hooligan wears a black hooded shirt with a plain black face mask over the lower half of his face. He isn't precious with regards to his mask and sometimes resorts to removing it mid match, usually to sell exhaustion and when 'juicing'. He wears jean shorts with a pair of tan work boots. He has also been known to tape up his fingers.

His entrance begins with his themes intro starting, the lights dimming to near darkness and smoke covering the stage. As the music kicks in fully, flares light up across the front of the stage and he walks out with flares in hand. What he does from this point to the ring changes depending on his opponent or if he is first in the ring. When he does reach the ring he ditches the flares and jumps up to the apron. He faces with back to the ring and punches his hand with his fist, causing flames to shoot up from the ring posts and the lights to return. He climbs through the ropes and aggressively crosses the ring, climbing the turnbuckle. He raises one hand which his fans imitate, before crossing to the opposite turnbuckle and repeating the same action. Should his opponent already be in the ring he stares them down as he passes them to climb the turnbuckles.

» Sully is far from being like his in ring persona, the boistrous, screw authority approach of The Hooligan replaced by the friendly, saying nothing bad about anyone Gary Sullivan. He is a true member of the team and happily helps out those around him, whether it is fellow wrestlers or even the guys setting up the ring. He knows that he is earning the money he is not just because of his own talent, but the joint effort of everyone involved with the production. He isn't one to go out of his way to play practical jokes on others but should someone play one on him, he has no qualms about returning the favour.

While he lives a relatively clean and healthy life, Sully does know that there are those in the locker room who can create a toxic atmosphere. When he knows who these people are he often keeps his distance to avoid any major confrontations. He also knows that sometimes you cannot avoid backstage conflict and has been involved in a couple of back stage brawls with fellow wrestlers previously. Sully is a genuinely tough person and has walked away from each instance in a better state than the other person. This sort of reputation follows a wrestler and the circuit knows him as someone that you shouldn't pick a fight with.

With regards to his background, Sully started his career in the backyard wrestling scene. There was a solid set up with several large groups dotted around the country, Sully's being called No Limits Wrestling (NLW). They had a reputation for being a more hardcore style of operation which helped him build his toughness. At the age of sixteen he left the backyard scene and opted to begin training for the professional ranks. After his eighteenth birthday he made his debut in the BWF and made a name for himself relatively quickly. He stayed with the BWF until recently, deciding to make a go of it in the AWE. He appreciated all that the BWF had done for him but no matter how big the BWF had become in Britain, the real gold of wrestling lay across the pond. He accepted an offer from the AWE and is looking forward to making a start to his career.
