So if I've got this right, in the present we'd be playing, Haven has been operating for 4 years?
Also, is there a certain number of abilities we're encouraged to have or a limit to how many we should? I'm interested to know the number of spells available for each wisdom level - if you have a specific number or an estimate - as well.
Right, here's my CS. Tell me if something's wrong with it.
Sean Green
AGE: 17
APPEARANCE: Sean’s hair is messy, and he has no plans on fixing it. He goes to get it cut whenever it gets too long but otherwise it stays where it is. Maybe he’ll put a comb through it a few times if he’s feeling fancy, but that’s about it. His brown eyes have a clear, calm light to them, like a perfectly still lake. His build is thin, almost worryingly so. Wears a variety of novelty shirts and hoodies, usually with either jeans or cargo pants.
PERSONALITY: What would an unlucky person do about their fate? Perhaps they would be angry, frustrated that the world seemed to dash their efforts at every turn. Perhaps they would be bitter, quietly cursing their circumstances. Or, they could be Sean, who would be laughing. For someone of his circumstances he is strangely optimistic and active. He considers himself a rather fortunate person, and does what he can to give back to those who’ve helped him. He’s cheerful in an understated way, holding on to hope no matter how bad it gets. That’s not to say he’s always happy; there are certainly things that make him sad, but he never dwells on it. It feels as if he hardly takes anything seriously, but that’s not really the case. He puts his all in anything he does, but his light and cheery personality makes it look effortless. He puts a lot of work in the background to achieve those results. Likes to explore unknown things, which is difficult given his condition.
BACKGROUND: Some would say that Sean was a pretty unfortunate person, which was true enough. He was born with a series of birth defects, fixed reasonably well through modern medicine, but they left lasting complications leading to a poor constitution, making aggravated physical activity difficult for him. These complications would persist for life, and even modern medicine could only alleviate the effects. The symptoms would lighten over time but they would never fully disappear. He would never be able to play sports properly, go hiking, climb, or travel too long. Most would consider that very unfortunate indeed, but really, was it so bad? He had a loving family, which was something rare nowadays. He had food, shelter, a bed to sleep in and friends. Besides, this was a cyber age. His disabilities had never stopped him from experiencing life. Even when he was young he’d developed a deep love of stories and games, which helped him visualize a life without his disabilities. He would never be an Olympic athlete, or a weightlifter, or a world-famous explorer, but he could be a knight in shining armour, a wizard with an array of powerful spells, or perhaps a cyborg enforcer, more steel than man. In a story, he could be anything. In a story, he was happy. That was why, when Haven Online first appeared, he felt he had no choice but to enter that world. In it, he could finally break free of the chains he’d held his entire life, and he would eventually find himself spending quite a lot of his time inside that wondrous world.
TALENTS AND SKILLS: Creativity and time, and that’s all he needs.
Juggernaut
Description: The matchless steel knight, the immovable object, an unbreakable wall. The iron train, the unstoppable force, the mighty Juggernaut. Or Juggs, for short, though he mostly goes by Sean. An imposing avatar by any standard, standing 7 feet tall, clad in the heaviest armour Sean could possibly find. To create Juggernaut In Haven Online he copied one of the most intimidating figures from a video game created long ago. He has what many would consider a troll build, but it can be very effective given the right scenario. And more importantly, it’s quite fun. A large humanoid race combined with heavy armour that confers the best stamina, a towering shield with the absolute defence, and a massive steel lance to sweep and shatter the enemy throng makes Juggernaut a memorable figure, and a relatively famous member of the community, though its fearsome appearance belies Sean’s indominable cheer and chivalrous demeanour.
Unstoppable Steel Charge Cooldown: 10 minutes A skill which, on activation, slowly increases the user’s speed and removes the ability to attack. As the charge begins, the user builds [momentum], the combined force of the user’s weight and speed. The user’s speed increases during the charge. At 10 seconds the user goes at 1.5 times the normal speed. At 20 seconds, 3 times, and the user is no longer able to be stopped by movement impairing status effects. At 40 seconds the user's speed increases 4 times, and so on, up to a cap of 5 times the user’s normal speed at 60 seconds. When encountering an obstacle, [momentum] is directed into the object as damage. Should the damage be sufficient to move or destroy the object, some [momentum] is lost and the user loses speed to compensate. If the object is destroyed, the user is refunded for 50% of momentum spent. The charge stops when the skill is cancelled or [momentum] becomes 0.
Indominable Steel Heart Cooldown: 3 minutes An active skill with a passive component that grants a 35% increase in resistance to mental debuffs. When activated, it provides complete immunity to mind affecting spells for 10 seconds.
Thundering Stride Cooldown: 5 minutes An active skill which lasts for 5 minutes. While the skill is active, moving or taking blows generates [Energy], up to a maximum cap based on wisdom. [Energy] gained depends on the distance traveled and the power of the blow taken. When the user attacks, all [Energy] is discharged into the object struck as lightning damage. The user can also reactivate the skill to discharge all [Energy] in an area of effect burst, but doing so ends the skill early. At max stacks the user gains the [Galvanised] buff which deals lightning damage to those attacking the user equal to the [Energy] that attack would have generated. Lightning damage has minor damage scaling based on intelligence.
Tower knight armour Armour that increases its user’s stamina. Very heavy, thus drains DEX by a significant amount. A set of armour that belonged to a boss, its appearance was modified by Sean. As a set bonus it increases its user’s resistance to magic, but Sean hasn’t collected the whole set, so that effect is not active.
The towering shield A massive great shield clearly never meant for human hands. Has great defence and, as part of a set with the tower knight armour, increases the user's overall armour rating by a small amount. Very heavy.
Gray lance Boosts the user’s strength by a small amount. Big and a bit heavy.
Notable Features: Sean has only been part of a few raids on account of not being part of a guild. He seems like everyone’s friend but in reality he doesn’t have a lot of them.
Not all of the players will know the identity. The player profile is more for me than it is for you all, because there will be things going on outside of the game as well.

@Anders Looks like an interesting concept for an RP. Here's my concept for a character.
Sura, Artisan of Calamity. "It is human nature to be attracted to destructive spectacle."
A player who specializes in finding areas of the game all the players have forgotten about and started ignoring as new stuff comes along. Places abandoned by their content creators as well as those who once explored. Then he schemes elaborate doomsday scenarios that threaten those areas, to try and revitalize interest in the area. And if no one comes to stop him? Well, he'll turn the place into a cataclysmic work of art.
@Anders I'm thinking of a character that is very much themed around the concept of the Rare-Item Hunter, someone who likes to find things that are rare, unknown, or just plain strange, whether they are items, people, places, events or whatever. very much an investigative mindset, with a large helping of greed on the side. I'm busy with homework for a bit yet, but I will hopefully have a CS up later tonight.
@Anders is it possible to make my own guild and have my character lead the group. I'm thinking a group that was a haven for white mages mainly though other mages joined after a griefing incident that had several lost characters due to some Pvp pLayers hunting down mages in particular due to the fact at low level without parties they would be weak targets
@AndersFantastic. Asuka should be up then when I get home. Currently on the phone and autocorrect is going to make me go insane. It turned lost characters into list characters. I'm like -.-'
Hmm, so I've got two tentative concepts. Would either of these fly? If so, which one'd be more welcome?
1) IRL, they person feels like they've no control of their life. Maybe they're just a cog in the machine of corporate life, maybe they're a teen whose parents are going through a breakup, maybe they're a very sickly person bound to bed most of the time (would explain why they have a lot of free time to play). Either way, they have no control of their life. So, online, they play that asshole who preys on the newbs and the non-combatants of the game. Shows up, beats them up, steals their gear. Well-experienced in the game, since it's been their outlet for a while. With the release of Headhunt, though, they're at a loss - if they keep doing what they do, they will be flagged and hunted down. This idea could be either a girl or a guy, depends.
2) Undercover cop/private detective/etc. who is investigating the disappearances. Not trusting the usual players with such a grave matter, he decided to try and pose as a singer girl in Haven to see if he could gather any clues or lure out the kidnappers. Trouble is, he isn't really well-versed with technology like this, so he makes stupid mistakes while trying to blend in. Messes up a lot. Especially when he now has to pretend to be an early-twenties singer girl. As... a dude in his early thirties.
