Name: Veal of the Right Eye
Race: Aryuk
Sex: Female
Appearance:She is about 5'5" in height, and weighs about 160 lbs. She has no favorites when it comes to clothing, and her face is a lot more expressive than one would think.
Backstory: "Veal" is not her true name. Her real name can only be spoken by those with the ability to speak with avians. She is a part of the race that resides in the ancient remains of a Roc. Remains that are so ancient, in fact, that they have become an inhabitable mountain near the Vespa Valley. Veal in particular hails from the Roc’s right Eye, where she grew up learning from her culture. She placed cooking, dancing, and witchcraft above hunting and martial arts, resulting in a somewhat weaker build in comparison to others of her kind.
There was but a single day that inspired her to travel away from her home. She was invited to help with an attack on a large traveling group, consisting mostly of Chitonians. They made the mistake of being seen. She was to assist with summoning magic to bring chaos upon them as the stronger summoners prepared their own spell. She had them distracted with Squirrel shades moving about and onto and whatnot, but what had followed had amazed her, the combined power of the summoners had brought forth an entire claw which picked up the ground they were on and dropped it from the sky. It was beautiful.
After the survivors had been finished off by their warriors, Veal’s curiosity led her to search their belongings. Within them she had found books covering various areas of study. She spent days reading those books, only separating from them to perform her duties and chores. There was so much that made sense to her, so much that she didn’t know...and she loved it! She grew a hunger for knowledge beyond her people’s...so she decided to find it on her own.
As one would expect, her people were not fond of that. It wasn’t unheard of for some to aleave to travel the world, but it was highly discouraged. Aside from that, those who wanted to do so had to earn the right. They had to pass a trial that could even end in death. Veal was to leap off a cliff from one of the highest points in the mountain, and return to the ground without being harmed. Sounds easy for birds? There’s a catch, in order to see if one truly had the skill to survive beyond their land, they were not allowed to use their wings. So it was that Veal’s wings were bound when they reached the cliff. With great faith and jubilation, Veal leapt.
Trials usually had many reasons for being suffered. The initial reason was known to all, but there were often secondary effects. As Veal plummeted to the ground, she could feel the rush filling her body. The power...she almost passed out as the colors began to fill her vision. She found herself being brought to the ground by a manifestation of the Roc’s claw. It was huge. It was gentle as it brought her back...It was calming...
She was allowed to pursue whatever she wished within or outside of her home. For knowledge, adventure, or even personal pleasure. She was free to seek out anything she desired...
Personality: Veal is playful to a concerning extent. Though she takes certain situations seriously, she would be the kind of person that would talk and laugh when being physically harmed. Despite being an adult, she can be very immature, and tends to make attempts to weird or creep others out. She also loves to cook all kinds of stews, soups, and cooked meat, and often dances to a song in her thoughts as she makes a meal.
She, like many of her people, treats the even the sight of the ancient Roc with enough respect to offer a prayer out loud. Unlike her people, she doesn’t have a strong hunger or animosity for Chitonians. She wouldn’t hesitate killing any of them, but she just can’t seem to find s way to make them taste good.
Some would say that she’s just another hyperactive or easily-excitable child in the form of an adult, only waiting for the next entertaining thing to come to pass...But every now and then, she looks up at the sky, at her surroundings, and listens to that calming breeze. And she feels everything she needs to. Everything that the world will give...
Skills: -
Cooking: A lover of food, especially meat, Veal has learned to cook in various ways, and is quick to learn other ways of preparing and cooking.
-
Researching: Infinitely Curious about the history and culture of others,
-
Flying: Despite her size, Veal can fly as easily as any other bird, as long as her wings are intact.
-
Natural Weapons: Being a large, anthropomorphic bird has its advantages. Such as natural weapons in their talons and claws and even beaks.
-
Carry: She may not be the strongest, but she is able to perform one of her kinds' traditional tactics - Carrying another creature dropping them from a height. It helps to carry others across this and that, but its original purpose was to carry prey up into the sky, and drop them from a height that would only end with the prey's death. She can't do that with beings bigger than her or even around her height, but most smaller beings are light enough for her to carry.
Abilities:-
Summon Roc's Talon: All magic-users of her kind attempt to materialize the visage of their home when it was once young and very much alive. She is able to summon a physical copy of a single talon from the Roc to strike and claw at her enemies within a moment. It may not sound that bad, but as a whole the Roc was the size of a small mountain in its youthful days. A talon is much larger than any individual of Veal’s own size.
-
Healing Breeze: Using her wings and magic, Veal can manipulate a small breeze to prolong the lives of herself or others, allowing the power of the wind to brush away some injuries/wounds.
-
Witch Shot: Using the strange witch gun, a spiritual shot is released at a target. Though its original form is lethal, this version is meant to hinder, rather than kill. It gives similar effects of making the target feel weak in the joints and feverish, but this is only temporary, and will not result in death.
-
Summon Squirrel Squad: Perhaps squirrels seem too harmless to the normal person, but they truly are dangerous. These 8 shades of the little rodents go and attack targets with hit and run tactics, biting off small chunks of flesh or armor wherever they can. Focusing on one target may even result in a violent, bloody, and quick death. They can also be used as distraction.
-
Summon Lesser Lightning Elemental: A floating bunch of sentient electricity. This one is a lesser version, but effective enough. It cannot let out its own electricity without releasing its own existence, so it must charge and latch onto targets to shock and fry them.
Inventory: Witch Gun, traveler cooking kit, pack of Home-made Beef Jerky, Personal Diary, writing item.
Theme song: Misc: Veal picked her name based off her favorite kind of food.
