"I-I guess that was a lesson right there?" Kara inquired, not sure what any of that meant. Not a single one of the gestures or words were familiar to her, apart from the few times Smith's name had been uttered. Something told her that her lover was stronger now in some small, almost imperceptible way. But he had gained knowledge from the ritual, and with it, a little bit of power.

"Do either of you want to explain what that was about?" She knew that asking precisely how it worked was probably a fool's errand, but she could at least learn what Smith had been taught.

"That was just a starting lesson on what kind of magic i will be teaching Smith" She said to Kara not mentioning the conversation she was having with Smith in her language, The two bowed again as Smith slowly moved to sit down. "Later today i will come back for your next lesson" She said softly to Smith who nodded.

"I will leave you two for a moment" She said leaving the room as Smith looked a bit tired.

Kara sat down cross-legged next to Smith. "So, all that was just an introduction. What kinds of things will your mother be teaching you, my love? Do you need to rest? You look tired, if you don't mind my saying it."

"No i'm fine thank you" He said softly just wanting to think for a moment of what was going to happen next concerning his mother and himself.

Kutur wandered the streets of Xigyll in a half daze, looking around in confusion and curiosity. The city had been under constant expansion since it was founded, but he never expected it to be this quick. Multiple buildings were raised in a matter of hours, and huts stretched all the way to the city walls, and perhaps have flooded over as well. For the first time, he found himself slightly lost, as he went down new street after new street, unable to find where the road meets the gate and he can escape all this activity and bustle.

He nearly stumbled when he felt two arms wrap around him, and a pour of words with a familiar voice filled his ears. He didn't catch a thing she said, but it was . . . nice, he supposed, to receive a warm welcome home. It felt strange, though, to level his head to see another. He spent his stay in Constantsea much the way he spent his years of study, craning his head upwards at everybody he encountered for so long he became used to it. Now his neck hurt, and he wanted to go back to his books.

"I . . . uhh . . . I hope so too," he said, nervously. Kali had stopped talking, and it looked like she expected a response from him. He had become so wrapped up in his own thoughts, as he tended to do, that he completely missed whatever it was she said.

"So understanding how the shapes are supposed to be is enough to create them correctly?" Yssil reaffirmed. "And 'thrall' seems a proper name for the weakest of elementals," he commented, then watched Aerta summon a simple water elemental. "Basically, with ritual we can draw on a kind of magic that we are not naturally attuned to. This can then increase the variety of what a sorcerer like us can do. Is that correct?" he questioned. Yssil's experience with rituals truly was minimal and he wanted to know if he had the gist of it. "I'd like and try conjuring one of these too, and then see what they're capable of. May I?" he asked, wondering if Aerta's demonstration was complete already.

"We have some time before she'll be back. Did you want to do anything while she's gone? Get some food or something?" Kara suggested. "Or anything else, really. Whatever you want, my love."

@bloonewb

Kali let him go and waited for a response. When one wasn't forthcoming, she paused, blushing slightly as she grew self-conscious about her very enthusiastic and public display of affection for Kutur. She looked away for a moment, scratching the back of her head with her right claw.

"So... er... wanna get something to eat, handsome? Maybe you can tell me all about your trip. I'd like to know what Constantsea is like. I hear it's at least as big as anything in the Dracon Realms."

@SilverPaw

"Understanding the shapes is part of it. Summoning shapes aren't always a necessity, but they help to focus one's mana in a conjuring spell" Aerta clarified. "It's not as simple as 'this shape summons Earth Elementals' or 'archons can only be summoned by trapezoids' or something like that." She stood aside as she let Yssil give it a shot.

"But in a broad sense, you are correct. If you understand the shape and attempt to conjure a creature, you will be able to do it, provided you have the mana for it. If you need a more specific guide as to what shapes go with what creatures, there's a book on that stand over there" she told him, pointing it out. "All it explains are the shapes and patterns. Actually casting the spell is up to you. Remember, we're sorcerers. We don't know how our magic works, and if you're like most sorcerers, you don't care. Take up the tome and make it happen."

Thinking for a moment of what he wanted, "Ummm well I am quite hungry, Do we have any fruits or meats?" He said softly looking over at her. "How do you feel about all of this? You know the whole fay thing?" He then asked her.

"We can get some food indoors, no problem" she replied, heading towards the house. "As for you being a fey, I'm actually rather excited about it. Magic has run strong in my family, and now it runs strong in yours, as it turns out." She gave him a smile. "Plus, I'd be eager to have a part-fey for a child one day. I expect you to breed me one now."

"Oh, not this instant" Kara clarified, not embarrassed about mentioning it. "Not until you're ready to do that sort of thing again. In a couple of days, maybe. Don't worry about actually breeding yet; I don't think you can actually get me gravid without magic... or can you? When you were more human, you definitely couldn't have a child with me without magic, but now that your fey powers have mani- mane- er... manifested, you might actually be able to do it without extra spells or alchemy."

"Well I think I could with my..fey magic although I don't even now how to..garvid or anything like that" Smith said still looking quite embarrassed. " I was never taught about that sort of thing" Smith added feeling both sadden by this fact and helpless.

Kara simply chuckled at Smith's comments. "Oh, the word 'gravid' is simply a way of describing an egg-laying female when she is with child. Dracons don't use the word 'pregnant' to describe it. Don't worry about it. No matter what, we'll be able to have children, with or without fey magic. We might have to use the same magic which was used on Avera. You might not have been told, but she's a human whose mother is an archmage sorceress, a bit like my mother. My brother Caex had children with her using magic: a dracon named Auryn and a human named Anyon. I wonder what happened to them..." she explained, trailing off a bit.

(The story with Caex and Avera is actually in earlier parts of this RP.)

Kutur didn't answer for a few seconds. His head swam with questions. What did she mean by 'handsome'? How did she know he had been to Constantsea? Were there even restaurants in the city yet? He remembered with a hint of embarrassment that he was quite visibly wearing a bag slung over his shoulder of Constantsea make. It would be silly for anyone to think he hadn't been there recently. "Sure, something to eat sounds nice . . . " he said, though not enthusiastically. The bag was full of texts granted to him by his masters. Some of them were even his own essays and research, although under his human name, Alexius. All, however, his masters expected him to illuminate and provide counterarguments for. It'll be a task worthy of a titan, and Kutur would have preferred to begin work immediately. Still, he should enjoy his last day out before secluding himself with his work, and this might provide just the right sort of escape. "Do you know a place? Is there even a place?"

Having not meet her brother made him curious on what he would be like, Relaxing in his chair not having the heart to tell her he knows nothing about mating or any of the magic that comes with "Gravid". His father had not taught him about this particular subject so he was a novice with this sort of thing, His stomach rumbled loudly as he lurched forwards feeling a empty pain in his stomach.

"I believe I understand," Yssil murmured. He turned to the triangle, which still held Aerta's water thrall inside, waiting to be given a command or dismissed. Yssil supposed he'd have to get rid of it first if he wanted to summon one of his own. Or perhaps he could simply summon an additional one...He decided to give this last idea a try. He focused on the perfectly triangular summoning shape, felt Aerta's magic outside and his own magic inside and focused his power, will, and intent in order to summon an additional water-elemental thrall. He did as he saw Aerta had done and worked the energy he could feel flowing in his veins, staying focused and staring with determination at the triangle until another thrall would manifest inside of it.

"Well, it's not really a big place to eat. More like an outdoor kitchen with some chairs around it. We don't really have much in the way of dracon-style places to eat. Can't waste our resources on frivolities" Kali explained. "Come on, I'll show you where it is" she took his right hand and walked along the still-unfinished roads of Xigyll.

@Eviledd1984

Kara heard the sound of his growling stomach. "Come on, let's get something to eat." She went into the kitchen and retrieved some ham which Adykon had recently cut up. "Hope that your new fey look hasn't changed your diet, my love."

@SilverPaw

As Yssil worked, Aerta could see another figure taking shape. It formed slowly at first, but it sped up as he concentrated his mana.

"Good, good... almost there." A moment later, the figure coalesced into being, looking very much like a smaller version of the water thrall.

"Hmm. It looks like a water pawn. That's the smallest kind of elemental. There's a hierarchy there, you know. Goes something like pawn, thrall, minor, lesser, regular, greater, major, lord, prince, king, and emperor. Anything above major is extremely hard to conjure, and there's only one emperor of each of the four elements" Aerta explained. "Plus, if you somehow did manage to bind an elemental emperor, you'd be the first one who ever did."

Kutur didn't remember offering his hand to Kali, but the next thing he knew, he was being dragged through the winding streets, through alleys and backroads he had never seen before. No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn't shake his worrying about the contents of his pack. It felt wrong to be contemplating work when he should be anticipating leisure, but that was just the way he was. Illumination was a time-consuming process. Imbuing the paper with magic took strong focus and long hours of thinking, but he had nobody to assist him. Who on the whole city knew the Red Discipline of Bythesea like he did? Who in the whole city even knew magic like he did?

Still, he allowed himself to marvel at the little surprise Kali showed him. True, it was unlike a glamorous restaurant like those that littered the street corners in all the Bythesea cities. True, it was also unlike the more humble eating shacks that seemed so popular with the commoner dracons. However, Xigyll finally had one of . . . whatever it is . . . of its very own. "Erm . . . I don't have any coin on me," Kutur said, sheepishly remembering. He had dropped everything when his master came to retrieve him, and hadn't had a chance to go back for his gold. The Constantsea bag wasn't even his, it being a gift from Exarch Rokkar to all of the magisters. What was he supposed to do for this . . . place?

Yssil frowned as he watched the much smaller and rather shabby water-elemental appear next to Aerta. He turned more fully towards Aerta as he listened to her list the possible ranks of summoned or conjured elementals. "That...is honestly very disappointing that I've managed to produce only the weakest one," he sighed forlornly. "I thought I was much better in magic. Is it because I'm not suited to the ritualistic kind or because I lack training in it?" he queried.
