I may be interested in this. Seeing as how I have the appropriate name and avatar, Tony Stark seems to be the logical choice. His story from the MCU could pretty much be the same - kidnapped, built a suit to escape, and now spends time refining the design. (Obviously would not confirm being Iron Man to the press for some time. Early stages.)

Thoughts?

Go as far as you want to and don't be afraid to play around with the concept, is what I'd suggest. But everything is completely and entirely up to the player. I'm doing things with Batman that I think will be different enough to make him a unique animal, but I'd be lying if I said he wouldn't still be recognizably Batman.

Also, I counted at least 9 interested not including myself, and that's only within a few hours. I think this is safely a-go for launch.

OOC thread'll be up Friday or Saturday, so you all have time to work up some apps.

I think my mind is leaning towards Wonder Woman (Bekka version), so I'll work on that throughout the week.

What's the acceptable extent when it comes to crossover stuff? F'rinstance, if I were to incorporate the Inhumans into the backstory of Krypton, or say that Asgard was bottled up by Brainiac or something like that, which might preclude other people's ability to use a character or a major mythos in a way they want. Essentially, where do we draw the line between 'mixing it up' and 'stepping on toes?'

@AndyC kind of curious about your plans with Supes because I'm slightly leaning towards a Thor who is bored and wandering the nine realms in search of a worthy foe.

Right now I'm leaning towards his early adventures basically being a modernized version of the old Fleischer Bros cartoons (minus the WW2 propaganda). Power-wise he's probably just learned to fly, cutting loose with Heat Vision drains him, and he's roughly on par with his strength and speed in the DCAU Animated Series-- strong enough to catch a crashing plane, not able to bench-press the planet just yet. Like in the Fleischer cartoons, in costume he's a no-nonsense man of action, and hasn't really learned to calm down and approach situations carefully yet. I'm picturing him fighting like a heavyweight boxer, and a lot of the early villains cooked up by Lex Luthor will feed into that image of Superman as sort of a bull-headed brawler.

So yeah, this version of Supes would definitely be down for a tussle with Thor.

I would say be cautious. That stuff vaguely sounds fine, but I'd also say keep it vague and don't make it a huge thing that impacts bigger mythologies. As I said in the first post, consult the player characters. Maybe try and limit the crossover stuff in the backstories themselves. My Batman has no overlap, honestly, just because it felt too cheap to have Bruce have trained in Wakanda or whatever.

This definitely sounds interesting to play my bored and world weary Thor off of.

I'll see whether I can scramble together some ideas for Doctor Strange over the next couple of days. Had some time free up.

Probably not. One of the things we wanted to do for this game is at least attempt to have a more active OOC than in previous games. Seems like that keeps interest going in the game.

Are we avoiding collab pads too? I've been finding they kill/hurt a lot of RPs as well lately.

MB can have final say but it's a good idea. No collabs. "Fuck it. We'll do it live!"

I was only literally just informed of what they were, and no. That doesn't sound like something nessescary for this game.

Personal opinion time, Spider-Man would be more beneficial to the game.

Second personal opinion, having seen and can confirm you play a good Question, I'd be very interested in seeing you play Spider-Man.

I did a pretty decent Spider-Man sheet for a Marvel RP a while ago that unfortunately died before I could actually write him, so I've been itching to try him out. Other ideas include Luke Cage with a powerset more in line with Colossus of the X-Men, the Punisher done in a style that's basically a love letter to John Woo, and of course the Question (though he's mostly a back up in case I find that I literally cannot write any of the other mentioned characters).

Am kinda interested, although a bit unsure given my rocky history with these sorts of games and rustiness in general.

Thinking Iron Fist (Duh and might avoid because how many times have I done it but year one might be interesting) Moon Knight, or maybe like, Shazam? I have a couple others I'm debating too...

I'm thinking either The Incredible Hulk or Wolverine.

Damnit.

Double Damnit.

@Sep

What made you tag me, did you miss me? My list of people who I feel I can reliably play is exceptionally short so I'd need to see what other people came up with, and potentially even fight for a place. I do like the Year One thing, as it means you can really do a lot with the hero and villain in terms of origins.
