Short Bio: Kanna's life wasn't that much different from that of most children of her age. The most unusual trait that could be noticed by others is that she inherited her great-grandfather's ingenuity. However, unlike the original founder of the Kirishima Heavy Industries, who lived during the time of the Great War, Kanna's creativity was focused mostly on the realm of computers and other electronic devices. However, this doesn't mean that her craftiness doesn't extend beyond that, she just likes to mess with computers more than other kinds of machines.
For this reason, it's no wonder that she has been deeply in synch with the online world and plays a number of video games, the most prominent of them being Gun Burst Online which she plays both for the thrills of it... many kinds of thrills.

Name: Saori Nishihara; usually uses "dokuro24" as a username for forums and the like
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Short Bio: Saori grew up in Akihabara, Tokyo, the only daughter of two parents who were both very big fans of video games of all kinds. Together, the family frequented various arcades in the region whenever they weren't too busy with their jobs or school work. Eventually, when she was much older, Saori applied for a job of her own in the area and ended up working in a maid cafe because she had "the right equipment for the job", as her employer put it. As much as she wasn't keen on the idea of having her cursed body essentially being used as eye candy, the job payed well enough for her to get away with spending the rest of the day at home. Considering how absorbed she was into GBO, she really needed a well-paying job if she was to play it just about every day of the week and still be able to pay her bills.
Gun Burst Online Character
Name: Dokurohime
Gender: Female
Level: 90
Skills: -SMG Skill MAX -Shotgun Skill MAX -3000 Points left over
Signature Weapon/Combat Style: Saori specializes in speed and raw damage output, her weapons of choice being the Heckler & Koch MP5A3 for peppering foes with rapid fire SMG bullets and the Franchi SPAS-12 for pump-action shotgun mayhem. While running around like a blur on the battlefield, she catches her targets off-guard with a barrage of SMG fire and finishes them off with her shotgun when they're at their most vulnerable. Saori has said on 2channel and various forums in the past that the strategy more or less came from an old class-based team FPS she used to play, with a few minor differences here and there.
Inventory: -8000 Credits -600 Photonic Crystals -A scope attachment for her MP5A3

Saori gave a sigh as she clicked through the various tabs she had open in her browser. She figured she had enough GBO for one night, and needed something to distract her in the meanwhile. Thankfully, 2channel and some of the forums she frequented were good places to visit for a quick laugh. One particular 2ch thread, however, left a bad taste in Saori's mouth.
"are any of the gbo players here with female characters actually girls irl? i cant go 2 matches without finding an insanely stacked chick with an ak47 or other such assault rifle"
"OP, I hope you realize how the internet works"
"i do. girls are guys in real life" Saori couldn't help but chuckle, but it still left a bad taste in her mouth. This kind of problem needed immediate attention.
"Girls have means of escapism, too, y'know. Some of us just share them with guys. There's a reason the character I play as doesn't have big boobs like I do." Immediately after posting that, Saori realized she had made a big mistake.
"big boobs? hot"
"haha, funny joke, tell us about the one with the running refrigerator next"
"And here I thought the thread wouldn't get any more degenerate once someone spoke up. I'm out" Saori felt the same way, and decided to back off of 2channel for the night. Instead, she figured it'd be wise if she checked for any news on the upcoming Bullet Break tournament. A better use of her time, for sure.
Misc: English Voice Actress: Sarah Blandy Japanese Voice Actress: Rie Murakawa
Appearance: Somewhat tall at 6' even, and a rather thin build due to high metabolism and lack of physical exercise, as well as being quite pale.
Short Bio:
For Cheryl, life was always about a fight. Sadly, she never was really good at fighting like how it usually would be in the streets, which led her to sequester herself in her room most days. A small gig doing gunsmithing on the black market with an old combat vet showing her how it's done helped pay her bills in the American mega city, but she always needed an escape. Books, movies, music, and eventually video games. Making friends with some of the bootleggers peddling video games like moonshine came to in her favor when she got a hold of Gun Burst Online, and she soon found herself extremely sick and tired of the North American server, as it was half the time dead and the other half saw the same roving band of players running around and wiping the floor with anyone they saw.
Cheryl was able to get her version and console spoofed and allowed her to connect and log in to the Japanese server while also giving her a translator for audio that would show up as subtitles on her HUD. This finally let Cheryl begin to hone her skills, and start leveling up her character. While still at the lower levels, there were some things you didn't need to level up to get skilled in. Cheryl learned how to tune her senses, wait for the right moments, and be aware of her surroundings. Eventually she broke down and bought the "Hell in the Jungle" pack that was chock full of old Vietnam style gear. She always had a soft spot for history and a respect for the classics, and she got as much in-game currency to do it as she could manage before paying the rest of it out of pocket.
With more room to practice and more people to fight, it wasn't long before Cheryl had begun to make a name for herself as a solo operator. It helped that she had a personal library chock full of old war stories and even some old US Army handbooks on things like Counter-Insurgency and Small Unit Tactics. Her usage of hand signals is well-known by those who have fought with her on occasion, along with her usage of quick text orders.

Branches whipped by at an alarming pace as Leadslinger beat feet in a dead sprint. Behind her was a a three-man team out for blood. Her blood. She had popped one of their friends who she suspected had been stalking her and now she was finding out that she really hated fighting alone, even if she was good at it. Well, she had to be good at it. No one could really communicate effectively with her to pick up on a team fight so she had to make due on her own. A lone wolf. Well, the wolf was on the run now. But the wolf had a few tricks up her sleeve...
After a few minutes, she stopped and hunkered down behind a tree. She worked on calming her heart rate and catching her breath as she looked all around her. It was night. Good. She could operate well in the night, and the forest she had run into served to really hide her shadow. She just had to focus. It wasn't long before she heard the crunch and snap of leaves and twigs. The team was closing in, and she saw the subtitles of their talking on her HUD.
"Spread out and find her! I want her dead for what she did to Tanaka!"
"Yes sir!"
What she "did" was self-defense, but these didn't sound like the kind of guys that could be reasoned with. She sighed as she drank from her canteen and then put it back in its pouch. She then took the M7 bayonet out from its scabbard on her belt and affixed onto the end of the lug on the A-frame of her M16A1. With the sounds of footfalls getting louder, she knew they were getting close. But they were at least somewhat smart. The middle man was letting his teammates on the flanks push ahead of him in a sort of V formation. That was going to make it difficult, even more so if these guys had NVGs. She didn't see it, but no one could be sure.
Leadslinger listened as she planned her engagement. She could...no, she would take these guys out in one fell swoop. She had to. One twenty round magazine would be fine on semi-auto, but she was going to have to fire bursts and that would run the thing dry damn quick. She took a deep breath as she heard the footsteps now directly on either side of her. Do or die time.
The woman who looked like she stepped right out of the late 60's stood up and sighted on where she heard one of the crunches of leaves to her right and sprayed a long burst. In the light of her muzzle flashes, she saw the man go down. Not enough time to confirm the kill; She swung to the left while keeping the stock tucked into her shoulder and sprayed another long burst behind her. She walked the bullets across the way and cut down the second man. Now that just left one last guy. She popped out from the tree and emptied the rest of the magazine in his general direction. Sadly, with her position, she couldn't gauge exactly where he was like the others. So the fire was meant to suppress more than kill.
But, in the same manner, she saw the night light up and watched the guy duck behind another tree. There was no time to reload or else she'd be caught up in a prolonged gun fight, and she didn't want to deal with that at night. Too much could go wrong. So she put her rifle down at her hip, grabbed the handguard and stock firmly, and rushed out from behind the tree. The last man stepped out from behind his position to sight her in but he was too late on the draw. She had already closed the gap, and he had presented himself as a target for her. The bayonet sunk into his gut as she rammed into him with enough force to knock him to the ground. He didn't have time to try to get back up before she took the rifle up and used the butt-end of the stock to bash his face. A quick stab into the heart and it was over.
The scene was a bit grizzly as Leadslinger went to each individual and made sure the were no longer a threat and then left them there. It was done, and she was heading to the nearest populated settlement to bed down for the night. Hopefully without anymore trouble, as she nonchalantly slapped a new magazine into her rifle and smacked the bolt release. She activated her music module and listened to a song as she walked with the map.
Name: Katagiri Shō (片桐翔) / username is typically 'HawkStar' or 'HkS45'
Age: 22 (09/5/2003)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Sho, for the most part, looks the role of a young Japanese introvert- messy hair, glasses, and a slim frame. However, he inherits some traits from his American mother, such as green eyes, and a taller stature at 5"11.
Short Bio: Katagiri Sho is the son of a Japanese businessman and a former American Navy secretary. With his father on trips away from home most days, he spent lots of his time with his mother. Through this, she introduced him to many customs from the other side of the ocean, one being a military interest (she worked in the Navy base at Yokosuka, and Sho's uncle was a Navy SEAL). Thus, Sho grew up with appreciation for both Japanese and American ways of life.
Graduating college with a marketing degree, Sho now had to balance his favorite hobby, GBO, with a professional life. He found a quite effective middle-ground by working from home- making a living by selling products online. He spends his days mixing playing rounds with making calls and entering data.
Name: HawkStar (ホークスター in Japanese)
Gender: Male
Appearance: Definitely more athletic and rugged than its player, HawkStar is an imposing figure at 185cm and 80 kg. It bears some resemblance to its user, with messy hair and sharp, slate-blue/grey eyes. Typical color palette for clothes/armor is black and dark grey.
Level: 77
Skills:
Assault Rifle Proficiency 1000
Handgun Proficiency 1000
SMG Proficiency 750
First Aid 500
Knife Proficiency 500
Throwing 250
Other 1000
Specs:
Improved Reflexes x2
Improved Speed
Guts x2
Fast Aim
Signature Weapon/Combat Style: Sho has a preference towards German weapons such as the H&K HK416 and HK45, which he typically uses in combat. However, his main strength lies in his strategic ability to take advantage of the situation. While planning, Sho draws influence from by-the-book tactics used by the US Armed Forces. When working in a team, he tends to plan beforehand, analyze, and give out orders, working with his comrades. Despite this analytical and strategic modus operandi, he does enjoy taking risky and dangerous attempts, often failing but capitalizing on every success.

Sho held his fist up, signalling to hold. As the fireteam leader, it was his responsibility to lead the way and give out orders. The mission was simple- infiltrate the cell, secure the package, and exit safely. Intel gave warning of about 20 gruntbots, and 2 minor bosses. The grunts were standard-issue: mid-level, AK-47-wielding baddies. Nothing out of the ordinary, at least in contrast to the minor bosses. They could have anything up their sleeve, from a combat shotgun to a Gauss rifle. Fortunately for Sho and his crew, killing these minor bosses allowed them to take the drops: the harder the fight, the greater the reward. As a result, the team was ready for anything: active members were expected to effectively use 2 primaries and 2 secondaries. To Sho, that meant an HK416 assault rifle, a UMP submachine gun, an HK45 pistol, and his personal favorite: an old-school Tantō dagger.
Making a quick peek into the entrance, Sho spotted two grunts making their rounds, in the standard 2-man patrol. If his timing was right, the next patrol would cross his line of sight in exactly 30 seconds. Patient enough to wait, he quietly relayed this information on to the 3 others on the mission, asking them to confirm their status. Sho, the fireteam leader, went by the handle HawkStar, with a more masculine appearance. On this indoors and close-quarters mission, he brought his UMP45 subgun and HK45 pistol with him- and his dagger, in case things got juicy.
Sho took one more glance, paused, then flicked his finger forward at hip height, signalling to go. Capricorn, the soldier behind him and the designated point man, turned the corner. The patrol grunts turned their head, and raised their AKs. For all Sho and Capricorn cared, they were like deer caught in headlights. At the same, practiced moment, they both fired at their respective men. Sho's UMP let its signature tat-tat-tat loose, ripping into the grunt on the right and knocking him down within two seconds. Simultaneously, Capricorn fired his Mossberg 590 shotgun, its fire briefly illuminating the dark room before striking the grunt on the left, sending him crumpling into the wall. Sure, the other enemies had been alerted to their presence, but Sho's team would not hold back.
• Appearance:Fresh out of high school and with nothing better to do, Ryuko’s style of wear is casual at the best and lazy at the worst. With moderate to low income thanks to her hobby turned occupation, she’s usually found in whatever outfit she finds lying around. It’s not like she goes out much anyway. When all else fails, she still has her various school uniforms over the years, though they’ve seen better days thanks frequent to “fan requests”.
• Biography:For as long as she could remember, Ryuko found herself obsessed with the Internet. From its earlier pioneer days to the business it would eventually become in the year 2025, Ryuko’s fascination with the ephemeral entity almost outdoes her laziness. Almost. Slugging through school was a chore. Couldn’t she just get a job being a star on the web? Youtube was always an addictive past time for her so by the end of high school’s graduation, she had decided to devote herself fully to the pastime.
She had hoped to one day surpass her favorite Youtube celebrity, the infamous gamer in Gun Burst Online known as Black Bullet. Ryuko swore one day she’d make gaming videos of that kind of caliber and that the world would come to recognize her greatness. Only…making engaging content is harder than she thought. Especially for the low-minded Ryuko. Nowadays she wastes away in her own place, occasionally crashing many a night with her childhood friend, Koga Ooe.
Together the two strive to make quality content on Youtube. This usually ranges from fan request videos, “commentary” of relevant topics happening in Japan and of course, streams of Gun Burst Online. Though frankly, Ryuko’s garnered a bit of a…quirky fanbase be it by her desire to be cool and stylish in GBO or her abrupt personality. Still, anything is to be sacrificed when wanting to be the best. And Ryuko only strives to be number one.
• Appearance:Gudako sports an outfit similar to her IRL self, though with specific modifications and choices to be battle-ready. Rumor has it she originally wore an orange jumpsuit and happily showed it off before her fanbase deemed it too tacky and not befitting of GBO’s gritty nature. It took some time to buy a new attire of course, but supposedly she still has the jumpsuit on hand. Maybe she’ll use it for the 100th episode giveaway of whatever show she’s trying to do next.
• Style:There’s only one way to gain people’s attention; by pulling off crazy sick stunts and stylish moves! Following in the footsteps of infamous gamer Black Bullet, Gudako has devoted her skill set to be the flashiest action ever filmed on screen. That’s what the people want and she’s more than happy to oblige for her videos. As such, her fighting style consists of a lot of maneuverability with her evasion, sick Gunkata skills, and fancy gun motions too fast for her fingers.
• Sherbet, her personal hoverboard. • In-Game camera able to record via livestream or for later editing. • In-Game clip-on microphone for better audio quality. • Her old jumpsuit outfit. Supposedly. • 5,405 Credits
In the virtual world, only the roar of bullets served function as answers to questions. Marked by their crack against the air, disputes were settled with battle and blood. Thus, it was natural to drown the swift shouts with more blasphemous shots in the dark, their chortled denials suddenly ending in meaty thuds. And standing among the dust and scattered red was the flowing coat of their perpetrator. A smile most sinister curved their players and the dance of death began.
Fingers pulled triggers at impossible speeds while a symphony of charged metal gave light to the darkness. In those brief spurts of light was illuminated the grinning figure in the dusk, red in sight even in this lowlight. Like a demon possessed their arms fired off impossible shots, ending the lives of any who approached them from all angles. When one got through their endless defense, it was not because of their own lack of skill. Rather, the GBO player allowed them passage into their sights.
The ground seemed to crack from their leap to the sky, slamming back down to Earth with a hard crunch of their boots. The unlucky victim beneath them lay twitching for a few moments more before bullets silenced all their protests. More were pinned down in this manner, more gave feckless pleas to the end of their suffering, to try and reason with the red beast. All ended up much the same, spurting out entrails of a graphic origin.
Red pixels burst like confetti under the pressure each shot gave, while others found themselves in a sort of half-way transition towards death. After all, no shot was guaranteed, and some were messy enough to have the in-game graphics mesh with the crystalized particles of the deceased, further marring their helpless corpses.
Broken and lifeless, each one fell like ragdolls, gunfire polluting the air while a noise akin to shattered glass rang in the night. The ever confident and moving bloodstain sifted like a shadow, aimless in their massacre without rhyme or reason-
“Geez this is kind of brutal,” Ryuko said aloud, temporarily taken out of the gameplay footage scrolling on her screen. Darkness had also enveloped the real world with only the artificial glare of her phone to light the way. Tossing and turning for a better position, Ryuko decided to lay on her stomach before drawing her attention back to the digitalized gore. “I know it’s a game but you could have gone easy on them Black Bullet,” she said into her phone, not even blinking as she hit the replay button. Again. For the tenth time already Once again the curtains were drawn and the night began with the lone figure standing in dust and solitude. It was horrific, a little bit shameful, maybe even cheating, and-
“A hell yeah assurance to my fame,” said Ryuko. Her eyes never widened from their original stance but a manic grin matching Black Bullet’s was sported. “Look at those moves and that badass flare. I bet they’ve got millions of people watching their videos,” she said, unliking the video before liking again seconds after.
“I bet they’ve got lots of people watching her. And that’s gonna be me. It will be me,” she mumbled in mantra, suddenly exiting the app from her phone to actually use it. A few dials and soft seconds later, Ryuko was left laying on her back with the same smile aimed at the ceiling. “Roach you up? Good. I’m coming over to make me famous!”
“Roach” was rudely awakened by a call from two in the morning.
A generally stolid and down to earth young woman, lacking in lofty ambition as she carries on through life. She tended to be very reserved and rarely interacted on a personal level with others, her exterior hiding a discomfort with getting close to others. Koga never adopted any strong beliefs and presented herself as put together, but unremarkable. It's a small miracle she was latched onto by a mooching red head in kindergarten or she'd be bereft of any contact she actively wanted.
Koga graduated high school intending to enter college but found she had no drive for any particular degree and instead found herself swept along as the straight woman to her air headed best friend's dreams of internet fame. It seemed as good a path as any and it saved her the expense of college debt, so she went along with it while maintaining a low commitment job to get by on her own.
With a resting expression that is naturally severe she doesn't have many close acquaintances outside, leaving her ample time to try her hand at nurturing the fan base of the up-and-coming Gudako. It can be tiring work given the girl's tendency to make claims she can never hope to achieve but it's at least enjoyable. Her hope is to remain behind the scenes and manage things, usually finding herself up late into the wee hours of the morning editing videos and managing social media accounts.
In short, she's management, and to her eternal bemusement behind closed doors, she enjoys it.
Name: Roche | Level: 90
Specs:
Far Shot - The maximum range of your ranged attacks is improved. Arsonist - Fires started with explosives and exotic weapons persist twice as long. Phosphorus - Fire damage reduces enemy damage resistance and does increased damage to vehicles. Environmental Resistance - Reduces damage from gas, acid, and fire by half. Traverse Fire - Can fire one handed weapons while moving without penalty. Rapid Reload - The reload / cooldown time of Weapons is reduced. Pack Master - Can draw out inventory items while firing a one-handed weapon.
Combat Style:
Roche isn't much for being fancy. She wants the job done and she doesn't care if anyone gives her a D in Style Points. Incendiary weapons are her main tool of choice, an overwhelming tide of fire and chemicals to burn her enemies out while concealing herself amidst smoke and flame. Wielding an exotic Gauntlet-mounted flamethrower, she needs only one hand to fire and thus utilizes a great deal of explosives and utility grenades to flush out enemies or protect herself and allies.
That a roaring inferno makes an excellent backdrop for others to fight is an added bonus.

Her name was not Roach, but that didn’t stop the phone from belching it out into her at a god forsaken hour of the morning.
Koga Ooe, or more commonly known by her universal online Nome De Guerre of Roche, awoke with her cheek pressed to the cool surface of a desk with her arms splayed over a keyboard and the dimmed light of her monitor seeming as baleful as the sun to her gaze. Flinching away from the offending illumination she reared up against the padding of her swivel chair and grimaced at the crack of cartilage and bone.
”Ugh.” Koga groaned as she reached out for a glass of tepid water she’d thoughtfully pushed far from her sleeping position, finding the relief of moisture on her throat helped to rouse the senses. It brought with it a chill passing beneath the hem of an over-sized T-shirt draped over her and providing none of the warmth the alluring mattress over yonder tempted her with.
She wanted it badly, but the incessant ringing of her phone forced her hand and answered the device with a grim swiftness. Delaying would only make it worse, of that she was certain when this particular ring tone sounded.
It didn’t last a minute yet her explosive sigh spoke of the strain it put upon her. A lesser person would have hid beneath their bed covers and waited the approaching horror out, but the more experienced Koga knew full well the bane of her sleep schedule had a key and would drag her from bed without a second thought.
Better instead to prepare for the inevitable and get a pot of coffee brewing. So she resigned herself to her fate and pushed the chair away from her desk, only to pause as the jostling re-ignited the screens brightness and compelled the monitor to reveal it's secrets. There before her was the upload of their latest video, a dungeon guide if the title was to be believed.
It had finished some hours ago and already the view count was in the dozens. Nothing to brag about but it brought a serene smile to her haggard lips regardless. The memory of absolute desolation in the views department was not so old she couldn't appreciate every last one that came her way. Koga nodded to herself and left the computer behind, resigned to be carried along on the whirlwind of Ryuko's obsession. Resigned, but content.
Short Bio: Star of her highschool basketball team, Rei 'Kiss Shot' Otto was famed for her ability to swish 3-pointers consistently. Often taunting out towards the camera with a wink and a kiss after a shot to show she knew just how perfect she was. Though, she only did this in fun and was always respectful towards her peers and opponents. She ended up not doing anything with her natural talent, refusing to pursue anything that could ruin the fun of the game. Eventually, she moved on with a more comfortable job as a fitness instructor. Not in her top pick of jobs, but she's able to remain in shape and she has enough income to cover her small expenses. Rei keeps an active routine staying in shape from sunrise to sunset. But after being introduced to the joys comfort of the virtual world; she took it on as her guilty pleasure for when just didn't have anything better to do. Signing in under her old highschool moniker, Kiss Shot, and even going as far as creating an @channel name to keep in touch with any of her new in game friends. Although she has currently made zero acquaintances from her previous careers in other games, she hopes GBO would let her expand her social view some. Never mind the fact that she's already level 85 without any progress.
Name: Kiss❤Shot
Gender: Female
Level: 85
Specs: 01 - Standing Shot: You can shoot heavy weaponry (anti-materiel rifles, rocket launchers, etc.) while standing without any penalties to your accuracy.
15 - Improved Speed: Improves your character's movement speed. Can be taken multiple times.
30 - Improved Strength: Improves your character's strength, allowing them to carry heavier loads, deal more damage with melee attacks and bows, etc. Can be taken multiple times.
45 - One Handed Wonder: Can freely wield and manipulate weapons and items using only one hand without any penalty (regardless of any other operation requirements).
60 - Tactical Volley: Greatly improved accuracy and range when throwing or firing explosives in an arc.
75 - Hardened: Take reduced damage from all explosions.
90 - N/A
Style: Kiss❤Shot prefers switching between two distinct play styles as she sees fit. Firstly, she dreams to make the 3-point shot by lobbing her nukes as far as possible and hitting her target dead on. If she can send a volley of explosives at her target and the explosion be covered by her outstretched thumb, another kiss at the camera is in demand as she just proved once again her skills are unmatched. Alternatively, she likes to swing her sword with great authority. Slipping in close to slice down her opponent where they don't have any room to outmaneuver. But her general love of explosives is especially apparent in her close quarter fights. Often ducking in and out of combat while leaving randomly placed explosives in her wake.

Sample Post: A sip of cocoa celebrated the smoldering field that stretched out in front of her. NightBlade sheathed into the ground at her side and FLASH sprawled across the ground, spent after discharging its massive payload time and time again. It was a fine way to start the morning, although her time was about up. Her alarm notification grabbed her attention as she dismissed it and packed away her weapons. Logging out to meet another alarm on her bedside table. 5:01 am flashed in annoyance until being silenced by her gentle touch.
Rei usually started her day at 4am; though since her introduction to Gun Burst Online, she's shortened her morning workout to only the trip to and from her gym. These few hours were as monotonous as could be compared to the thrill of the virtual world. She almost wondered how she enjoyed working as much as she did before the video game craze. But there was a certain peacefulness to her time offline as well. It gave her time to think, strategize, and prepare for future GBO outings; but it also let her reflect on her life. Her @channel still remained dormant and she didn't have anyone she knew with any shared interests. She was the only one of her friends who actually enjoyed physical activity; and, although the last of them to sign on to the virtual world, the only one not knee deep in, well, waifus. Most of the people she knew were boys, or 'perverts' as she constantly reminded them.
Regardless of her daily thoughts, early afternoon came once again and she found herself already gearing up for another dive into the warzone.

Short Bio: Kasumi grew up in a pretty average house on remote Oki Islands. Life hasn't changed much on the islands with towns pretty much the same and traditions are still alive. She has two younger sisters age fourteen and eight and well as a three year old brother. Her mother works with both her parents at there traditional family diner and Kasumi's father has followed his family's tradition of being fishermen. Kasumi loved her childhood being able to the play in some of the most beautiful and untouched places in the world. Of course when the tourist season started Kasumi always had to give her mother and grandparents a hand in the diner.
Unfortunately Kasumi was unable to stay on the Oki Islands as she needed to go to the mainland in order to study for her dream job. Her dream as to make games for a living. Kasumi is one of the top students in her class and just seems to have knack for it much to the annoyance of her fellow students. She says it's just easy to soak up the information when asked by her fellow students. During school breaks she has sadly been unable to visit home very often as she has been busy doing internships at various game companies. She goes to university to Tokyo and shares a cramped apartment with three other girls who are on the same course.
Specs: -Eagle eyes: (1 max) This spec allows the player to see in far better detail. It also allows the user to see much farther and is the same as using a 4 times scope. Can only be taken one time. -Hyper Hearing: (1 max) Improves characters max hearing range but also allows them to pick up on sounds they otherwise wouldn't hear. Can only be taken once. -Night sight: (1 max) Allows user to see in much lower light levels than you could normally see. Almost making you able to see like a cat or owl. -Fast Aim: (2) You can aim your attacks faster. -Improved Reflex's: (2) Improves your character's reaction time. Can be taken multiple times.
Signature Weapon/Combat Style: Ideally Kasumi likes to soften up or kill her opponents with various traps. Afterwards she then lays an ambush usually launching a few RPG rounds in their direction before switching to her energy pistol. If they get close she uses her special wrist mounted weapon to surprise them while still using her energy pistol. If needed she will go close combat and kill the opponent with the phrase death by a thousand cuts being apt. Further more she likes fighting in darkened areas or at night in game.
Wrist Launcher: This very uncommon item is very versatile having several different types of dart that can be loaded into it. For example there are poison and sleep darts, however she doesn't use any of these preferring to use explosive darts. Though these darts have very short effective range of only 20 meters with a max range dart can travel is 30 meters. Also they explosive yield is much less than any grenade. Launcher only holds five darts in total. Equipped to her left arm.
RPG: Has an RPG which is carried on her back with one in the chamber and along with a warhead backpack with three reloads. Doesn't carry any more as she doesn't want to loose mobility.
Tanto: Usually attached to her belt behind her back the item is nearly all black except for some gold inlays on handle that continue up the blade.
Plasma Blaster Pistol: This is Kasumi's most treasured and rare piece of equipment. It is one of the few energy weapons she has ever seen. It fires a plasma shot which has a fairly short maximum range. This is due to the plasma shot dissipating after 100 meters. The only way we can shoot it out to it's max range is due to her maxed out skill and eagle eyes. It does a medium amount of damage inflicted on impact however it will cause heat damage over time. It needs a reload after fifty shots. A new energy cell is loaded into the back of the gun after you remove the old cell.
Inventory: -110,000 Credits -2700 Photonics Crystals -Assortment of grenades both smoke and normal -Booby trap wires -Plastic explosive and detonators -Swiss army knife with tools -Lock pick set -Motion scanner is a wrist mounted display that can sense motion within 200 meters and give you general direction and estimated distance. However it can not distinguish numbers so it could be a group of people or just one. Keeps this on her right arm. -Exoskeleton legs. These are not made to increase strength but they do give a minor boost to that stat. Instead they are built to increase her speed state. -Shadow Stealth Camo increases users stealth stat in all environments. In dark places there is an extra Bonus to stealth. It also has a minor armour value but can't take much light arms fire and it doesn't do really anything against heavy weapons. -Headphones for when she is just beating on npcs.
Sample Post: Kasumi was heading to her room when her roommate Yuki came bouncing around the corner. In her hand was a sheet of paper which Kasumi knew was the girls grades as she had just picked up her own. Practically slamming into her Yuki and Kasumi gave each over a warm hug. Yuki tearfully chocked out, "thank you Kasumi for helping me pass I couldn't have done it without you. I can't even pay you for all the time you spent with me." Kasumi rubbed the back of her friends head whispering into her ear, "don't be silly remember I knew you couldn't pay plus I love you as a roommate and friend."
After a two hour bing on cake and sweats Kasumi was sprawled out on the bed. The door was firmly locked as Kasumi liked privacy while gaming. Also she didn't want them to see the cold face that belonged to her alter ego Hex. It always took Kasumi a few minutes to get into character in real life. Suppressing her usual bubbly self wasn't easy and bringing out her dark side was hard. As she slipped on the headset she wondered who her victims were going to be today.
One hour later Hex had been waiting around behind some rocks just below a cliff waiting for players to show up. She had booby trapped a well known area which had elite level enemies with good item drops. Sometimes a boss level enemy would spawn in this location instead of one of its other spawn sites. Today was Hex's lucky day as the boss level enemy had spawned in this area. However she wasn't going to fight it just yet as she had been watching a fairly large group clear the area in preparation to fight it. In total there were ten members in the team with 7 assault rifles, 2 machine guns and one 1 sniper. Pretty standard load out for an average group.
Hex had to wait a further thirty minutes for them to start fighting the boss and for it to get low enough on health for her to make a move. The sniper had taken up a usual sniper spot just in front of Hex's hiding spot. Sometimes snipers would go to the location she was hiding in but usually they would use the closer spot. Hex always got a rush of excitement wondering if she would be found and have to make a run for it. However today like most days it all went to plan and she jumped over the rocks slamming her tanto into the snipers skull.
Wondering why their sniper hadn't fired the leader turned his head to see. Hex loved this part the shock and realisation that came over her victims faces. They knew what was going to happen as the detonator rested in her hand with her other she gave them a cutesy wave good bye. Tipping her head back letting out a mad cackle as some fought the monster and some tried to raise their guns at her. However before a shot could even leave the camber an almighty boom went off. Finally she got the loot from the boss level monster and got to ruin an entire groups efforts. Licking her lips Hex fought to herself that's what makes this game worth playing.
Misc: In real life Kasumi is the sweetest person you could meet. In game however it like her dark side takes over with her being cold mean and cruel. She just loves roll playing someone who is the complete opposite.
Was a member of the Midnight Gun Knights guild when she was just beginning the game. It was a nice guild that would defend knew players and logged on mostly during the late hours of the day. Kasumi was removed from the guild when she thought it would be fun to betray them all during a mission. It was during a boss battle and her team had just beaten it and were low on health. So Kasumi just chucked her grenades unexpectedly into the midst of her celebrating teammates.
In game she is known as one the most well known and feared solo player killers. She has even received the several nicknames such as the Laser Witch due to her energy weapon and manic laugh.
Occasionally she will work for people as mercenary having to pay her with a rare item. She will also work with people if they have managed to kill her as a form of respect even hanging out with them from time to time.
The three girls she lives with are Yuki, Sara and Niko.
Name: Wanjiku Wong Age: 23 Gender: Female Appearance:
Bio: As the school's resident introvert, Wanjiku grew up with a very tiny group of friends that over time went their own seprate ways via transfers. She still likes to behave as though she's still with those people, and more than a few times will make an inside-joke to an event the people in front of her were never privy to.
Later in life, the heavy studying had put a strain on her eyesight, and a nasty fall down the stairwell had shattered her skull so severely that she'd lost a good chunk of her hearing. As shuch she tends to play online either with headphones on and the volume up, or a direct nueral interface to completely bypass her damaged ears and try and pretend to have the normal life of a "popular-girl" in GBO, although her reclusive habits still shine through, keeping her in a feeling of isolation.
To remedy this, she enrolled as a contestant in the latest "Bullet Break", hoping to find a team that would not only find a way to work well with her playstyle, but also accept her quirky behavior.

Signature Combat-style: She's generally an oprotunist flanker. Despite seemingly having overwhelming firepower on her side, she knows two people with guns out-points one any day (unless they're scrubs) and will generally avoid direct confrontation. That said, her skillset does make her a viable "pointman" at lower difficulties, she is often loathe to perform such tasks in a party, which has ostricized her from many other groups wishing for either a speedier "rabbit-flanker" or a steadier pointman.
Clementine had found a prime perch or her to work from. The player-community had put out a bounty on a pack of griefers that would choose to torment newer players and take their starting gear, then have a follow-on group "assist" them by making them perform humiliating tasks to get their equipment back. Although they'd likely get banned after another day or two of such antics, many of the victims wanted justice served at the end of a digital gun.
And so she sat in a shattered room, her grenade-launchers sitting on the roof, firmly propped-up on the ledges to aim upon two likely intersections, not firing only because she had the triggers tied forwards against the pressure of several rubber-bands looped around a stick placed behind their buttstocks. All it would take is a good tug to untie the knot preventing either corrisponding trigger from being pulled... a poor woman's claymore-mine.
In her lap, sat one of her RPDs, a full 100 round belt-drum linked to a spare 50 round belt hung-out and looped over her arm; giving her 150 rounds at her disposal, 15 seconds of uninteruptable destruction. Upon her back was the second RPD, slung, and loaded with another 100 rounds.
And here, she waited. Watching newer players walk right past her tiny fortified position, blissfully unaware she was watching them form their first teams under her watchful eyes, listening to them converse amongst themselves in the distance with her perfect hearing. She smiled to herself as she even listened to the ambient wildlife frighten one group.
Then an explosion rang out. Several, in fact.
Explosives and exotic weapons generally weren't used at low levels, due to them being more expensive to keep fed, and their limited utility... let alone a whole squad specializing in explosives and flame-weapons... She had found her targets. Now all she had to do was troll them into her trap. She fired a burst of wild shots from her RPD, fiegning undisciplined panic. It wouldn't be long now.
A few moments later she saw a head peek out from around a corner, which she promptly sprayed accurate suppressive fire upon, probably giving them a face-full of hedged-off reinforced-concrete. She then counted to 3, time enough for a rocket-launcher to stack-up at that corner and get instructions to fire upon her location with an RPG-7... Which she pre-empted by pulling her string, firing a grenade from the rooftop out to the intersection, it was a white-phosphor smoke-round; it wasn't long before she could hear screaming coming from the thick creamy white mist. She fired a long burst, raking the pavement with bullets, and the screaming soon stopped.
She then retreated from her position, pulling the string to the second grenade-launcher, aimed upon another intersection; more smoke, but no screams. She could hear cussing on the floors beneath her. Now was her time to move to higher ground. She threw a smoke down the nearest stairwell, forcing them to take the long way up while she made her way up towards the roof to retireve her M79s... it was slow going, and she wasn't entirely sure that nobody had already reached her floor. Her ammo-belts clinked much too loudly, but there wasn't much she could do about that now.
It was on the fifth floor when some of them had managed to catch-up to her, announcing their presence with a bunch of withering automatic weapons-fire, albeit poorly aimed. They'd been running too, and weren't spec'd to use small-arms as their main, and Cementine had ammunition to burn on suppression... the end resault was a comically short-ranged firefight straight out of the stormtrooper-academy. She'd already burned-up two of her three belts of fifty on her first DPM, so she quickly swapped it out for a fresh one in a lul between floors. The sixth floor went much like the fifth aside from a few of them trying to rush her before being driven-back to their stairwell, with the engagement being broken-off by her pursuers when they had to stop and reload... another fifty rounds spent... it was time to draw both guns...
It was obvious that the group was still seeing themselves as the hunters, and she was their prey. They were actively trying to herd her up to the roof for the final showdown, whittle-down her ammunition and force a reload at a critical moment. But not only had she ammunition still to spare, she'd also built up just enough energy for a final sprint towards their position...
She let loose with the RPD on her right, running for her nearst M79, discarding it in favor of the launcher as it bled empty, opening fire with her remaining RPD as she popped the action open on her grenade-launcher, and dove for cover. From here, she set down her other machine-gun to send a fourty-mike-mike HEDP home into the chamber, pop cover, and end the top of the stairwell in an inferno of high explosive shrapnel. She then pulled a pair of frag-grenades, popped both spoons, dropped one as she let the other cook for a second, dropping that one along with it. The resault was a duplex explosion, the blast of the upper grenade tampering the blast of the first, directing the greater part of the shrapnel and blast downwards.
She then casually retireved her weapons, loaded a fresh belt, and proceeded to scour the remains of the griefers in the stairwell for any useable loot.
Appearance: Handsome and in good shape, Jason does attract the occasional unintentional second look from the ladies. He has gray eyes and dark blonde hair with a pale complexion softened by a subtle tan. He stands at 5’9” and weighs in at 168 lbs. He usually wears button down shirts in a variety of solid colors and is neither pierced nor tattooed. He does wear glasses, but only when he is tired and his eyes need the extra help.
Short Bio: Jason Cockren was born in one developed country and then raised in six others, moving 23 times in 18 years due to his father’s… occupation. Craving stability, he focused on his education and accumulated the skills that he needed to live independently. He stayed behind when his family moved for the 24th time. He was 19, employed, single, and decided two things very quickly. First, his family was likely to try to keep in touch and use him as a contact for their moves. Second, he didn’t want any part of that… ever.
He moved one more time, to Japan.
Since then he has remained a productive member of society but has been wary of becoming too entangled with other people. As a result, he played many different games during his free time. A few of them were MMO games, Gun Burst Online among them. However, he has never been very aggressive and has consistently struggled in PvP combat. His PvE skills are unquestioned as he is able to accurately predict the behavior patterns and skill effects of most AI or simple program driven enemies. This allowed him to hunt solo in very dangerous dungeons and unlock some incredibly rare drops.
Yet, he is beginning to lose interest in GBO. While there are new dungeons being designed and implemented, most are raid dungeons that require a team to enter, the overall focus of the game seems to have become more narrowly centered on PvP play and tournaments. He was going to quit quietly but he felt that he hadn’t really given the game a fair chance just yet. So, he signed up for a PvP event. If it succeeds in rousing his interest, he may even change his mind about quitting.

Signature Weapon/Combat Style:
Primary: "Graham's Longinus" 7.62 Cal crafted custom semi-automatic rifle with low profile scope, round accelerator attachment, and armored frame. Round accelerator increases impact force of rounds fired. Dual under barrel fixed bayonets and single under stock fixed blade (curved). 60 round drum magazine.
Side-arm: 14mm long barrel hand cannon with collapsible stock. 4 Round magazine.
Exotic: “P-Bolter M-1” Plasma bolt LMG. Minimal linear recoil and very tight shot group. Random chance that a given bolt will skip off or burst in a small explosion on contact with a non-target object. This weapon cannot be carried in inventory outside safe zones. 120 shots per capacitor charge.
The “P-Bolter M-1” has a firing capacitor and a main power cell. The power cell must be charged from a city power grid. It cannot be recharged in the field. It holds enough power to empty five firing capacitors. However, the weapon requires the gas charge from the capacitor as well as the energy from the power cell to fire. Each capacitor holds enough reactive gas for 120 shots. 8 shots per second = 480 BPM.
The Charge Compressor can be equipped on the thigh, or low back, preventing other gear from being carried there. It replaces the reactive gasses used in making the plasma lance by drawing in and filtering surrounding atmosphere. It takes 30 minutes to recharge one firing cell and the charger only fits one. This charging rate is unaffected by specs or stats but is dependent on the wearer being in an air atmosphere. Charging ceases underwater or in areas with pervasive atmospheric contamination.
Preferred combat style: Mid-Range rifle engagement interspersed with intense and fluid melee combat, often without switching weapons. Heavy weapon reserved for situational use and chokepoint defense.

The wind cast ripples across the tall grass that covered the deck of the aircraft carrier. It was tilted at about 30 degrees but Grave Trench didn’t mind. He was crouching just upslope from the bridge tower and the evening sun kept him in shade. The large spiders that had turned this area into their colony had a solid habit of dropping valuable materials used in Med Injectors. Most players preferred to buy their meds, but Grave Trench had been hunting this area for the past several hours. Staying uninjured in this kind of area was almost impossible. Only the most specialized characters could pull that off.
It wasn’t that the spiders were all that powerful. The actual challenge was that when the nest was disturbed, the dominant spider would order the whole nest to swarm the area. That meant that hunting parties couldn’t use explosives without getting overwhelmed. Then again, the zone did a mob behavior reset every five hours. The last one finished 2 minutes ago.
He shifted his weight and pulled his P-Bolter M-1 from his back and settled it on his shoulder. This wasn’t his first time hunting this spot and he knew that the Master of the nest dungeon spawned in one of three chambers. He knew the coordinates of those chambers. It took a moment to line up the shot. The tunnel that opened at his feet led deep inside the nest. It was the straightest shot between his location and the Master’s room. If this worked and he attracted the attention of the whole nest, he could handle them all as they funneled through this one tunnel.
He depressed the first trigger and felt the weapon’s vibration as a hum in his bones while the indicator in his peripheral vision transitioned from uncharged to ready to fire. Then he took a breath, checked his line of fire, and pulled the second trigger. The shot was a little anti-climactic. There was less vibration than an LMG class weapon usually delivers and almost no recoil. The smell of ozone was strong, the muzzle was hidden by a continuously oscillating blue flash, and a bright stream of plasma bolts flew down the tunnel to skip off the walls and explode with just enough force to shake the dust from the tunnel ceiling. Drifting red damage sparks glittered in the dark where a couple lucky hits had brought down patrol spiders. He took a moment to pop out the capacitor and swap it with the one in the charge compressor on his left thigh. He had learned not to start this kind of event before having both charged and the Master and his swarm should be coming soon.
His caution paid off. The spiders on the surface raised their forelegs to the sky and shrieked before jumping off the ship to rampage over the surrounding field zone. He lined up his sights along the same line as the first burst as the deck under his feet began to tremble with the movements of an entire nest of giant spiders. Unlike the gardener spiders outside who immediately try to swarm the surrounding field zone, the spider types inside would follow the shortest possible route straight to him. With most attacks that would mean all the nearest entrances to the dungeon zone would be active exit points and the spiders would be coming from many directions. However, this was both the most direct tunnel and the furthest one from the center of the nest. It was an expressway that connected every level of the nest straight to Grave’s location. They all used it.
He waited as the glowing green eyes of the leading spiders came closer and closer. The indicator read ‘ready-to-fire’. The first spider came within ten feet. He fired. The tunnel was suddenly transformed from a dark hole dotted with the glowing eyes of an unstoppable swarm of charging spiders into a narrow kill box where one spider after another was cut to pieces by tightly controlled pulses of plasma bolts. It would be another 8 minutes before the charger would finish recharging the cell he used in his first burst. By that time, he’d be done with these monsters, but the Master would be another story. He knew the tunnel was clear when the last few shots lit the walls all the way to the bottom before harmlessly bursting on the tunnel floor.
He secured the P-Bolter on his back and readied his rifle, sighting down the tunnel. He needed to be able to move and the heavy weapon wouldn’t allow that. He waited ten seconds. Then he started firing. His first shot disappeared into the dark. The second struck sparks from something partway down. The third hit something closer. The fourth made the distinctive sound of a critical hit and something in the tunnel popped up a “Dead” indicator before dissolving into damage sparks. The body had been destroyed by something passing through and smashing it.
The Master was coming. He kept shooting, watching the damage sparks as they marked the Master’s progress.
Bam! 80 meters. Bam! 76 meters. Bam! 72 meters. Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! 40 meters. His rate of fire was four shots per second. The Master was advancing four meters per shot. Contact in three seconds. He kept shooting until one second to contact. Then he lunged forward, dashing and jumping across the tunnel mouth and another ten feet past it before the crashing sound behind him indicated that the Master had arrived.
“Master on deck!” Grave announced with a distracted smirk as he spun around and brought his rifle to bear. The Master had the same movement profile as its minions. It could run quickly in a straight line and would jump if its target was farther away than 50 feet but its turning rate was comparable to an underpowered tank.
Grave stayed just out of reach, firing only when he could hit a critical zone. The fight was fairly one sided. Grave only had to reload once before the master finally trembled and collapsed, yielding to digital oblivion until its next resurrection. Grave Trench collected the loot and then made for the road that led back to the city. He would be busy making Med Injectors later. But, for now, the hunt was over. It was time to get back to reality, there were bills to pay.
Short Bio: An only child born into a music loving family he found a niche in the online community making original music to footage from his GBO exploits. Being more concerned with making interesting videos over killing players or enemies Ichiban worked on building his character with survivability and terrain traversal in mind. Focussing on jumping and vehicle use, he soon started taking pictures and video of him getting to unique vantage points and looking at the scenery that others were simply not specced in the right way to view.
Specs: - Improved Jumping x2 - Improved Reflexes - Remote Control - Quick Reload – reduces reload time - Tuck and Roll – reduces fall damage - Vehicular Homicide – increases damage dealt by vehicles piloted by the user
Signature Weapon/Combat Style: Two independent assault drones are the primary method of attack, often sent away from Jukebox and hidden while he uses a machine pistol as his weapon. Alternatively, Jukebox will use the drones as stepping stones using a combination of Improved Jumping, Improved Reflexes and Parkour to effectively ‘triple jump’ to reach terrain not normally accessible and using it as a vantage point. Alternatively crashing vehicles into the enemy tends to work.
Inventory: MAC-11 MAC-11 ammunition x3 Flashbang Grenades Two Assault Class “Guardian” drones – each drone equipped with the equivalent of a high calibre pistol and a smoke grenade Armor transmogged to look like casual wear of blue jeans, t-shirt and jacket Yellow tinted anti-flash hunting glasses. Ichiban, sorry “Lemon Soda”, was looking up at a half-ruined building and specifically a particularly sturdy looking piece of rebar sticking out of a wall ten stories above his head. As was fitting for a war zone map, the stairs were half destroyed and instead of a north east corner roof there was a hole. Tying his digital shoelaces out of habit more than any in game effect it would bring Lemon summoned his two Guardian Assault Drones and had them enter the building ahead of him. No shout of shock or surprise at the drones entering the first floor seemed like a good sign so MAC-11 loose in his hand, he wandered the bottom floor.
The first floor itself was where all the debris and crap from the upper floors naturally settled. However, the way the boxes were arranged under a hole leading to the second floor raised an eyebrow, activating his tracking Skill the scrape marks made by the box moving that had been hidden under concrete dust glowed with a pinkish red light. Not just level design. Someone went up. Going back outside Lemon looked at the second-floor window and clambered up a busted streetlight nearby, not feeling confident enough to just follow a potential player’s path. His two levels of Improved Jumping making it so that he easily stepped through the outside window and landed on the floor. Accidentally kicking some rubble as he landed Lemon froze as he waited for a player to react to the sound and wasn’t disappointed. Around near where he thought the player made path to this floor was he heard the distinctive sound of a rifle being raised and boots creeping towards him.
Calling one of his drones to his back right shoulder, Lemon had the other slowly float up from the hole the player turned their back on to inspect the noise. Banking a flashbang of a door frame and into the room the sound of a player yelling “Fu-!” could be heard before his started ringing and the drone at the player’s back opened fire. Stepping out into the room, Lemon emptied an entire clip from his MAC-11 into the player and watched them pass into the digital afterlife as an timer went off in his ear.
“Shit, I won’t make it in time for the Golden Hour… I suppose I better come back tomorrow…”
