So I saw The Incredibles 2 yesterday and was honestly a little bit disappointed.

I thought it was fine. Like, it wasn't actively bad by any means and there were certainly some nice character moments, but it wasn't quite as fun as the first one. I think The Incredibles is essentially the closest thing to a faithful Fantastic Four film we've ever seen (in tone, if in nothing else) and this time around it didn't quite do it for me.

I saw it has some good stuff it gets into in regards to how we interact with the world, our addiction to screens specifically.

Agreed completely. It just was not a fun movie for large stretches

It's difficult to talk about it too much without spoiling anything but I feel like it definitely felt obliged to fall into a similar formula as in the first film. To the point that it almost felt by the numbers.

Given the time that's passed since the first film, that seems like the one thing it shouldn't feel.

Do you think that's a side effect of the Big D? If you look at Pixar, before Disney bought them Toy Story 2 was the only sequel they did. After Disney, they've done six sequels and another one on the way.

I liked Incredibles 2 fine but it felt much more like a popcorn film than the first. The first one actually explored complex emotions and had its characters change in interesting ways, but this was one was just... Bleh.

So about a hundred pages back we'd been discussing the whole 2nd and 3rd characters thing, but here's an idea. Since we were going to say that we're definitely not doing second characters until season two, what if we had a rule that you don't unlock your second character until you've been with the game from the previous season (or perhaps played for the entirety of a previous season)?

Another idea I had was that we might be able to "check out" temporary characters for a month at a time or something like that. I figured that we might set it up that way for villain characters given how we've discussed that it can be difficult for a playa' to maintain an ongoing storyline for a bad dude without oversaturating or watering him down.

I think the problem with villain POVs is they tend to hold up or throw off the parent hero's storyline. It can work, sure, but I think we've had a lot of blunders which is why a no-villains-allowed policy was enacted in the first place.

What if villians have to be applied for at the start of the season before the ic drops so they can work out a plan with the parent hero. Rather than force an agenda mid season.

I'd love to play a legacy character that isn't a sidekick or villain, to be honest. I was considering playing GCPD or Vicki Vale for this game but I didn't want to step on Bruce's toes and make things a hassle. I'm having fun writing Bekka though, so it's a fun time. Still would like to visit Gotham in Season 2 as a secondary character. But we'll see what the boss says.

That's not a bad idea. I think people can be villains or bad guys if they show they can be creative enough to not be completely dependent upon the hero. Some of my favorite books/movies/comics/etc. are ones that feature a villain protagonist.

I also kind wanted to play a young Grayson still in the circus prior to becoming Robin and work up to becoming Robin. But, I'm having fun writing my X-Force team.

I gotta say I think it's far too early for people to be thinking about Legacies. I can get behind people introducing characters who could become sidekicks at the end of Season 2 but Season 1 and early season 2 is far too early I'd think.
