Vittorio

Having aqquired some clothes from a cetre where they gave free clothes to the homeless, some which had previously been owned, Vittorio ended up with some regular clothing. Such as a sun bleached white and blue hoodie, along a pair of pants, a brown jacket and some other clothing items. Such as a pair of sunglasses. Among the items were a black long raincoat reaching from top to toe.

He had his astral form don the raincoat, to give him a slightly less dubious look to avoid too many eyes his way. He first got up on the audience stands where he found a good seat for his physical form, he made sure that his physical form would remain in place, putting his feet together and placing his body so he wouldn't fall. This was his backup plan after all, would they somehow not reach the podium. He could easily move to his physical form and find Alto that way. One way or the other, there was no going back. There never were any way to go back to in any case as far as Vittorio saw it.

After having dumped his physical form at the audience stands he made his way down to his team which had gathered.

I am an angel of vengeance, come forth Alto and I will end your legend. This day you'll realize these wings on my back are not a dream. Bak... you cannot save everyone. I couldn't even save anyone at all...

He sat down on the Mephisto team bench in his black raincoat with hood, hiding as much as he could of his astral form. His wings tightly packed along the arms of the coat, and his arms being crossed hiding most of them. The ghostly young man threw glances to his teammates. He could see Celestine already preparing for the entire thing, telling them all to have fun.

Vittorio sighed, which echoed slightly out of his hood. "Fun.. yes.. It will be fun to get it overwith." Vittorio glanced over to what some might suspect to be the podium, but it wasn't that he was looking at. It was the sky in the background. He broke off his gaze of the sky and his gaze went through his fellow students until he got to Bak where he stopped at.

Bak. You who have struggled through life, who has that body causing you trouble. You are here fighting for everyone still. That makes you really beautiful. In another age, time and world. Maybe you would have been my... But it is useless to play such tricks on the mind. I am nothing but a spectre, I don't really have much of a future. I won't drag you down with me. I live in the real world, the real cruel world where there can be no happy ending for everyone.

This is what I've lived for. To end him. But even so I would have wanted to learn of your story Bak, to hear your tale before I leave this world. But I guess I won't be able to do that... what a shame.
Vittorio looked up at the sky again.

I hate this world... but at the same time this is where I met all dear to me. And it is my love for them that has gotten me this far. Watch over me everyone, I will avenge you soon and then be with you. One way or the other this is were my story's ending will be. At long last I will be able to let go...

"I hope you win Bak. Don't give up." He said out loud so all in the Mephisto team could hear it. It was unusual to hear Vittorio trying to cheer up anymore, but it would have appeared Bak had caught something in him.

Meredith, Ria & Diana

A team is made

Meredith tilted her head upon hearing the new voice. Ria. That was troublesome. Usually she would just try to avoid her, as her lashings were vicious and she had those eerie eyes. But she was tired of that kind of sentiment to be fair. This time, she would approach her. The fact she already picked up on the changes unnerved Meredith to a degree, and she couldn’t ignore the fact.

“You’re so silly, Ria. Been a while, isn’t it?” She added, putting her most fake smile to avoid triggering any kind of suspicion on the others as she leant closer. “If you must know, it was Blackgate’s special training. I am a bit different now… I guess.” She said in a hushed voice, almost meeting face to face with Ria, before withdrawing once again.

At least the illusion seems holding up. Good. She thought to herself. “I suppose… you’re not interested in joining your school? I am in dire need of teammates.” She said, cutting to the chase. If Ria had found out about the change, the best way to shut her up was putting her in a place where she could see her.

That smile was breathtaking in its deceptiveness. Ria glanced over her shoulder at the gathered Vigilantes. She was, after all, only a reserve member. Besides, she had to know what this was. For the sake of her own curiosity if not for Wolf himself. “Yeah, sure. I think I’d like to see how far this goes. Problem is, even if I join up we’re still one down and, lets be real here, you’re not doing yourself any favors having me on the team if you want to attract somebody else from St. Laurel’s.”

Meredith furrowed her brow as she raised her head, just like she would have done in the past. She used to not like thinking in complicated things, but these days, some devious thoughts alarmingly were easy to produce. “Let’s go and see. I am pretty sure the third member of the team doesn’t need to be a Saint Laurel…” She added, indicating Ria to come with her.

Outside, near the Saint Laurel’s gathering, a trio of oddly-dressed boys were talking back and forth with a girl. Their uniforms were all of the same school, one of the myriads of smaller fry that would flock to the tournament to get a one in a million chance.

For all the outrageous comments of the boys, it seemed that the girl hadn’t broken her composture. Yet. She was dressed in a dark dress and was fairly petite, with rather long silken hair, and a joyless expression. If she hadn’t seen move and talk, Mer could have easily confuse her for a life-sized doll.

“I gather you are serious about this.” She said, making minimal inflections.

It was the turn for one of the boys to reply. The most striking of them with a manly figure and a prominent chin, started addressing her in a deep voice.

“Grant Handsome has decided that YOLOman and Reapper are going to be his teammates.” He added, indicating first to an oddly dressed guy who moved his head around like an overexcited bird, and finally a hooded figure with a skull mask. “If you do not like it, you can always start your own, my little flatbread.”

Diana sighed. “You know that Rhean Technical does not have money for two teams, Grant. And YOLOman tried to fly by strapping himself to a lot of electrical fans and then jumped out of the window.”

“Bitches go whistle, yo.” said the unholy union between a rapper imitator and gothic wannabe called Reapper.

“...so be it.” Diana said to herself. She mentally noted herself to haunt Grant’s sleep with reanimated snakes.

Meredith, who had been witness to the scene, looked at the other girl, then Ria. “Perfect timing, don’t you agree, Riri?”

“I seen this before.” Ria said, covering her face with one hand and grinning. “The school doesn't think it can win, so the only people interested in trying are weirdos like that who just want to have fun with it. It’s endearingly self-aware. I dig it.” Her eye though, which peeked out from between her fingers, locked in on the girl in black. “Not that one though. I don’t know why she’s here, but she’s serious about this. Hey! Depressed girl! Come over here, we’ve got a proposition for you.”

“Depressed girl. Hm. Could have been a little more polite.” Diana added as she eyed the two figures, turning her back to their former team and eyeing the two girls. She remained calm and composed even though one of them seemed to be oozing in dark power and the other had an unnerving quality in her eyes. She eyed both of their uniforms, resting perhaps a bit too much in how those hugged certain parts of the female anatomy. Parts that she lacked.

“Hm, what is it, ma’am?” She said in her best business tone.

“Oh, look at it, our corpse-humper is now turning a bun bun hunter. Rejection doesn’t settle well with her. Eh? Eh?” Grant said, winking at Reapper while trying to nudge him with his elbow.

“YOLO!” said wisely Yoloman.

Diana didn’t even bother turning her gaze onto their jeerings.

Meredith’s eyes were on the new girl, just like Ria’s. That perception of hers is scary. She paused as she took a better look at the girl. She… gave her a dark, occult vibe. In other circumstances that would have been bad, but not this time.
Ria, for her part, didn’t get any vibes of the mythical persuasion. What she did get was that this person was actually taking this seriously. It was like she’d seen in Meredith, something in the way she held herself. “I’m gonna cut right to the chase here.” Ria said. “There’s an old provision in the rulebook that lets students fight in a team from a school that’s not theirs so long as they make up the “vast minority” of that team. In practice that means that if a school team is one woman short, they can pick up a free agent to round out the numbers. Me and Meredith here are in that position and you have just fallen into our laps, so what do you say? You want to be in our team?”

Diana folded her arms, she was obviously thinking the pros and cons, before setting her arms aside in a shrugging motion. “I am aware of said rule. It’s exceedingly rare because schools usually have their teams fairly set before the tournament proper and last minute entries are very few.” Her eyes rested on Meredith’s for a moment, as if about to say something.

“I usually ask for fees for my time, but this is tournament day, and your timing was impeccable. I shall waive any fee for my time and just share the prize and glory should they come to us instead.” She eyed Ria, offering a rather antiquated but elegant curtsy.

“Call me Diana. Diana Graeca. I am a specialist of the occult fare.” She added. “Just like Meredith.” Truth to be told Diana was ecstatic. Saint Laurel students had a lot of money usually, and being in their hub, even for a few hours, was bound to produce wealthy connections.

“Well look at that, easy peasey.” Ria said, slapping the both of them on the shoulder. “You guys even have something in common.” She extended her hand to Diana. “Thanks for the help, I’m Ria. Full disclosure, you’re probably going to hate me by the end of the night.”

How many people are going to pick up on the demonic magic today? Mer fumed internally, barely reacting at all at the shoulder clap.

Diana, however, seemed startled like a baby deer for a fraction of second, before her restraint kicked in. She was not used to being touched, or having her personal space invaded. She brushed the shoulder gently afterwards.

“Feelings are irrelevant. It is results that are relevant.” Diana just added, before lowering her voice. “In a sense. She has demonic energies… and I happen to be a necromancer.” Diana admitted in a low voice.

Meredith eyed Diana with mild surprise. She had never expected to get a catch this good. It seemed like the third member would be useful and not an add on in name only. “I’m half-demon” She said, pouting. “And I’m Meredith Blackgate… nice to meet you Dee.”

“Dee?” Diana raised an eyebrow.

“Oh you know, Diana. Dee.” Mer replied to Diana’s surprise. “Oh… just forget it. Let’s go inside.”

“Spooky team I ended up on.” Ria said, shaking her head. “So, a businesswoman, huh? I can respect that.” She said to Diana as they walked back inside, probing disguised as small talk. There was something this one as hiding too, she bet. Nothing to do but try and see.

Andras

Andras listened to the dump of information. She stayed quiet, absorbing it all. She remained quiet through Vera's disapproval of the plan... Which made Andras's heart sink. She was at odds between her friends. She wasn't as sure in this grand plan as she was earlier. Andras admitted to herself long ago that she was easily swept up by others with stronger forces of personality than her, but this was growing in scope considerably. Her power had made her a large target, even though nobody fully understood it. She vividly remembered being hounded by kidnapping dolls and putting Vera in danger...

Andras tightened her hands into fists in her lap. 'But I'm still fine, despite everything. It's been a headache, but William has a sense of justice that others can't match. I've got to try to help, at least...'

Andras spoke up at last. "I won't give up yet. Exploring the Root for the solution to these tragedies may be their only chance." She gave a nod to William.

She still had her doubts, but she had to try. 'That's even if the Root has the means to do so... Which nobody has been able to tell so far.' She tried to silence the voices of doubt in her head, even despite them growing louder since the newest change of plans.

William Ascot

William smiled and said, "Thank you, Andras. What you said...it means a lot."

I am humbled by the grace you showed me. I am humbled by the support you have given me. I promise, I will do my part, I will defeat the Greater Evil and save this city. Or, if there is no Greater Evil, then I will keep protecting you until the threats towards you end. Thank you. Resolution had returned, this time more concretely. Vera's hatred still ate at him, but he knew this, that as long as the city stood, then it will all be all right. Something I love more than myself. This City.

He then looked at Wolf, as if in challenge, then extended his hand, saying, "Vera may think me stupid and cruel and insane, but my promise is a city still standing after this is all over. That's a promise Andras still accepts as truth. So, are things still continuing?"

Tournament Day

William listened to Andreim's speech, having already accepted a place as a member of St. Laurel's teams. His first thought, an uncharitable one, was that Andreim was a rival for leadership. His second thought was that rivals can be co-opted, and that a man of Andriem's confidence can be sucesptible to a display of deference. Nevertheless, he walked towards the other boy, placing his left hand on his' with a wide, open smile. He then cleared his throat to give his own speech.

"For thousands of years, Rhea has been the greatest, most advanced, and most important of cities, the most exalted place on this planet. This is not just due to location, resources, or even government policy, but also because of its people, who are bound by bonds of citizenship that transcend class, gender, race and species. We of St. Laurel's represent merely one facet of Rhea, but what a splednid facet it is! Some accuse us of arrogance, part of that charge may be true, but we are above all motivated by a dedication to victory, victory within the bounds of the law, unmatched by most others!

"All hail Rhea! All hail Saint Laurel's!"

Michael Angie

Quite the audience here... Michael thought to himself as he looked around. It was quite the event he was participating in, tho he imagined that most came in hopes of getting to see the big three in action. Not that he could blame them, really; Michael was curious about that himself. Alto, Clara, and King were quite powerful people, in more ways than one.

But enough about them. This event didn't involve just the leaders; it involved all the groups. St. Laural's, Mephisto's, and the Vigilantes. Michael had a difficult time deciding which group to align with, as he had connections with both Mephisto's and the Vigilantes. Ultimately, though, he chose to go with the Vigilantes. His connection with Mephisto's was rather weak, really, and he possessed little loyalty to them. On the other hand, he found himself doing quite a bit more work with the Vigilantes, and he felt more of a bond with them. It was really no contest which side he took, actually.

Shutting out the events around into background noise, he focused his attention onto his assigned teammates, Wolf and Nasearph. He had already looked up their abilities and came up with theories on improving their game plans. Ultimately, though, victory was still uncertain, but he would make it as favorable as possible.

As for Wolf and Nasearph, well, they were busy with their own matters. Ria left the group and left them to their own devices. "To be fair, however, I did apply a defensive buff to myself that time, so I could take a bit more than usual," Michael responded to Nasearph. "Regardless, our goal is victory, and victory is what we shall achieve."

Samoth left the changing room dressed in more colorful clothing than he'd arrived in. He didn't exactly like his school uniform...but why not wear it? It helped reduce confusion for his teammates as well as the judges. Most of it was, however, covered by the trench coat he slipped on as he left the room. He'd adjusted the uniform with his own personal touches: elbow pads, knee pads, greaves. He pulled his gloves from his pocket, slipping them on as he walked down the halls towards the arena area.

He both liked and disliked these tournaments. Liked, because it gave him opportunity to learn about the nature of other student's powers, and help develop his own. He disliked them because there were so many people. Walking around in the back rooms under the stands eventually gave him headaches from all the mental energy congregating in the area. Now he headed to the field, fortunately not having acquired a headache yet.

He entered the field area and felt better already. The breeze blew past him softly, rustling Samoth's hair that wasn't covered by his camouflage ACU cap. He joined his St. Laurels companions, standing behind them. He scanned the area, observing the actions of allies and other schools alike. He'd been thinking about possible teams that they'd have to face, and who would be the most problematic for him and his teammates. He did so again now.

He didn't have too many students to worry about, but there was one in particular. Bak. She was an issue for him. Her flurry of rounds had always been an issue for him. She could shred through his shields in little time, and she was too heavy and armored for him to do much damage physically. Not to mention her weapons were physical- he couldn't negate them. He's have to rely on someone else to take her down.

Andreim started some kind of speech, turning to his fellow students with rallying words. He held out his hand. Samoth considered taking it.

He did so with a gloved hand. It would create tension between his teammates if he did not because it would seem rude, and they didn't need any more to worry about than they already did.

When Bak had stomped out onto the field she had done so with all the flare and pomp of a master heel. She snared and sneered and mugged to anyone close enough to see. She through her weight around as much as she was able, lending her weight to every footfall to leave deep gashes and cutting inhuman prints into the grass. When the cheer went up she screamed with it and fired a volley of missiles into the air, exploding like fireworks above the heads of the Mephisto's. They were the bad guys, she was their pet killing machine, and she made sure her every movement reinforced that. The only thing that cut into this image was that her arm was in some kind of sling.

If they could look inside her head the audience would find an even bigger crack in the facade. Although she was throwing her heart into being terrifying she was really worried, not about the tournament, but Vittorio. She'd been thinking about what he'd said to her, and the more she thought the more she'd been convinced that he was planning to do something...foolish during the tournament. The kind of foolish that you didn't intent to walk away from.

She'd confided as much in Rurik a few days after he had, shockingly, not only announced he planned to join with no prompting but had asked Bak of all people to be his partner. She'd described basically everything he'd said to her, every weird grim proclamation. She'd even gone as far to show Rurik the ring, just to hammer home the point that, no, this time he seemed like he really meant to end it. Then she'd told every member of the student council that cared to listen to her rambling. Except Clara. She didn't need to know what they'd been talking about.

She didn't enjoy doing it. She resented Vittorio a little for making her worry like this on what was, by far, one of her favorite days of the whole year. The tournaments, win or lose, were the most fun she'd ever had. She got to stomp around, be intimidating, shoot to her hearts content, and people cheered her on for it! It was the worlds greatest game! Not to mention it was really the only time she ever went out. If that sad little sheep thought he was going to get himself lost and ruin today for everyone he was going to have to go through her to do it!

The problem was she didn't know exactly what Vittorio was planning to do. She had a general idea seeing as that stupid Alto was in the building, but the way he would get from point A to point Cold-Blooded-Murder still eluded her. She didn't know when, had only a vague idea of where, and the hows were to numerous to count. She also hadn't planned what she would do when he tried something. She also couldn't let him know that she was going to do something since it would be childs play for him to evade her then. All she could do was have as many eyes on him as possible and try to react.

She glanced across the field over to where the St. Laural's were gathered. She caught Samoth looking in her direction and waved before remembering that other people were watching and changing it into a fist shake. Then she laid eyes on who she was actually looking for. The thought of asking him for help didn't sit well with her, but the William boy had name dropped Vittorio specifically. If she told him, what would he do? Maybe call the cops or something. She couldn't really trust what he'd do. Still, another pair of eyes that were close to Alto...

Bak's thoughts were cut off by, ironically, Vittorio. She looked him over, her mind doing that thing where she tried to sort through what she was feeling, before smiling and saying "You to. Do not give up!" She said in a loud stage whisper before raising her fist and firing her gun into the air. "Mephisto's will crush everyone! GAHAHAHAHA!"

@6slyboy6

Deep in the back of Katherine's head a voice chuckled passively as the two boys spoke. "What a pair of erudite young men. All hail St. Laural's indeed. Surly no one could possibly mistake this for a battle of dominion." She said smugly, before continuing seriously. "Master, take heed of that first year. I can practically taste the ambition behind his eyes. If it were any more naked I would be quite scandalized. I'd also advise caution about the scant few of my kind I can sense in this arena. If you are facing one I will inform you."

He'd dug his own grave in a way. Christine had talked him into this mess, and he'd assumed he'd be on the same team as her. So he'd gone and found Bak, thinking that would be his third and final teammate. Only to find that Yuuto and Vittorio, with Bak taken, had then gone to Christine who'd said yes, and so on and so forth and now he was on a team with motherfucking Thobias.

It was par for course really. Make any effort and life would without fail turn around in kick you in the mouth for daring to think anything would go your way. The validation was nice, he supposed...?

He winced as Bak fired off a volley of missiles, trying to make a big show of things. Well, she was succeeding. Bak might have been off-putting for a lot of people, but from the safety of their seats the masses loved a big, scary monster. He saw a few people glancing at him expectantly, wanting him to join the display. He indeed gave them something: his middle finger.

Play the role, right?

Speaking of Bak, she'd... confided in him about Vittorio. It had been surprising. He wasn't exactly friends with her, he just sort of knew her better than most. They'd been actual friends for maybe a week or two before she'd decided he was a disappointment. Not shocking. He was a lousy friend -- lazy and pessimistic. He was fine in a group, with other people to make up for his less than sparkling attitude, but one-on-one? Well, some days he wondered why Christine stuck around.

Regardless, what she'd told him was concerning, even for someone like him whose motto was: "I don't care." He could at least understand why Bak was worried. In the end, though, there wasn't much he could do. He'd promised, not that she'd left much room for choice, to keep an eye out and stop him if he saw him doing anything crazy. It wasn't like they could babysit him, but he'd try.

He wanted a nice, quiet night after this. If Vittorio went nuts, he'd probably be dealing with some variety of nonsense for at least a week.

Cassius just sort of smiled nervously as some of his classmates gave speeches. He had to hand it to Andreim, his speech was worthy of applause. Not many had the confidence to unprompted give a speech. Then William tried to follow suit and, in Cassius's opinion... well maybe it would have helped if he wasn't following in Andreim's wake.

It was certainly a speech that held meaning, but he couldn't say he felt super motivated by it. It was a bit awkward. Victory within the bounds of the law? Well, he supposed Mephisto's was known for cheating, not that it could usually be proven, so there was that. He guessed William wanted to take the high road.

He tried to clap for William too, but he just couldn't get into it and it turned into more of a pitying slow clap despite his best intentions. Still, just like Andreim, he'd gone and done it. He must have been motivated.

"Let's hope he's better at fighting than he is at speech giving, eh pal?" he whispered to Katherine with a whimsical smile. William was on their team after all. She looked a little distracted now that he looked at her. "By the way, you're not gonna totally lose it if we end up against that Mephisto's guy are you?" He thought he might have caught a glimpse of him earlier. Unfortunately for Kath, KOing the opponent wasn't the goal today. He wondered if maybe that's what had her preoccupied.

. . . The Meeting With William. . .

In the end, Wolf didn't shake William's hand.

"Like I said, nothing's changed. I'll do my best to keep Andras safe and if that ends up helping you, so be it," Wolf told him. Like it or not, Vera had put those thoughts of his mother in his head. Maybe, deep down, with that connection drawn... he really did resent William. He'd never thought too much about William's plan. He'd sat safely on his fence, able to protect Andras and do his job without having to form an opinion.

In a way, that was still the case, but now he'd been forced to think about it.

. . . At the Tournament. . .

"My what?" Wolf's face flushed as Ria ran off. Side piece!? Wait... MEREDITH!?! Dream message or not, she'd been MIA for over a week! And now his head was spinning. Not good. He just hoped he could calm down by the time the fighting started. Fortunately, Nas didn't seem to have any thoughts on Ria's comment and helped distract him from all that.

"Y-yeah... if they stand and fight, we should win," Wolf replied. There were lots of weird abilities that could complicate his life, but if he could get and keep his hands on anyone, he'd be fine. Then the flag could be taken at leisure.

He doubted it would be that easy.

In the end, she didn't get to be with Rurik after all.

Well, she didn't really mind that much. Originally, she had expected Rurik to not participate after all. And this just meant that she got to watch his fight from the bench.

As she and her team entered the tournament field under the cheers and stares from hundreds of people from the audience, she waved her hands around, smiling brightly as she did. Unlike Vittorio, who was all gloom and doom as usual, she was all light and bright. She wasn't exactly shy to the spotlight after all. Bak was somewhat similar to her although she expressed it in a more violent manner, to say the least.

Speaking of Bak, she had confided in her about the matter with Vittorio. She was concerned at first, but she knew that there wasn't really anything she could do. Vittorio was not someone who would be easily persuaded by just a few words, especially by someone who was never really close to him. She would keep an eye on him for sure, but she eventually decided that it wasn't really worth it for her to worry about something she could do nothing about.

After their entrance, she sat on the Mephisto's bench along with the others, waiting for her team's turn.

Liselotte

Lise had woken up early for the tournament. She had gone through many of her different clothing options for the tournament, but she eventually settled on the simple school uniform. "I can't afford to demoralize any of my teammates with my regal brilliance... I better pick something mundane." She nodded as her shadows dressed her.

Lise did a twirl. Her outfit was as close to pristine as something made to be worn by peons could be. She considered doing her hair differently, perhaps ringlets? But that would be too much of a stylistic change. No doubt the dimmer Laurels students may mistake her for someone else and attack her.

With a quick call, Lise had ordered her transportation to the event. She had wanted a carriage, but as the number that her parents said to call said, "We don't have horses, ma'am." Lise figured the disrespectful man would be out of a job even without her saying anything to her parents. Nobody would last that long if they treated her like that.

Sporting an ornate parasol, Lise arrived to the grounds of the tournament. Stepping elegantly from the stretch limo, her shadows opened and closed the doors for her as she strutted towards the Laurels area. She had arrived early enough, but there were others already there. Most likely overachievers who wanted to appear more able than they were. Lise waited patiently for something interesting to happen.

After waiting for what seemed to be a while, Andreim had taken the stage and given an inspiring speech. Lise couldn't help but smile, thinking of how all of these other students would have to fight and struggle so hard for greatness. Stepping forward, she daintily put her hand on top of Andreim's for the group cheer. "Victoire!" She said, giving a smile.

Andras

Black and white swirls into a gray at the middle of the world... But in the middle, a silhouette, and a flash of something... Sharp?

"Ah... My head hurts..." Andras was awoken by the sunlight creeping across her face, into her uncovered eye. "To a demon, this unfiltered light is truly..." She grasped within her vocabulary for a word.

Andras struggled for a few moments. '...Forget it. My brain is still asleep, I can't think of any fancy words...'

Feeling herself almost slip back into sleep, Andras yawned and stretched on the messy bed. Pillows were lumped all around her, and the layers of covers separated and folded from her tossing in her sleep. "I wonder what everyone's doing today..."

The word echoed in her head. Today... Today... Today...

Andras nearly bit her tongue as the realization dawned on her. "WHAT TIME IS IT?!" She grabbed her phone, but in her haste it slipped from her hands and landed across the room. Stumbling from the bed, Andras nearly dived for it and read the display with trembling hands.

"I'm gonna be late?! Crap crap crap!" Andras quickly grabbed her clothes. Quickly pulling her hoodie on, she grabbed her pair of shorts and quickly pulled them on as she left the guest room.

Speeding past the Blackgate house's kitchen, she grabbed a slice of toast that was seemingly abandoned at the table. Holding it in her mouth, she threw open the door and sped off. "Imh hmphinmg!" She mumbled through the toast as she left the house.

'This isn't good. It looks like I'll have to use... that.' Holding up her hand, she summoned her cards. The pinpoints of light were a signal to her angel familiar, but also so she could draw today's card.

"Gmph mph dnp mhph... Hem my cmhph! Amheckmshdrma!" The toast may have messed with the incantation, but Andras knew personally that as long as she could say something and move her arms, she could access the Root's daily draw.

With a feeling of a bright light being shone into her eyes, the card came forth. She almost had to stop running to make sure she didn't fall, but she managed to keep going. 'The Root sure has been bright recently...' she thought as she stumbled a little.

She didn't have to run that much farther. Her summoned angel arrived with the sound of beating wings, and Andras stopped, finally taking the bread from her mouth, panting. "Response time... Is getting better... But still could be faster..."

Andras had discussed the possibility of lended flight with the angel beforehand. She wasn't happy about it... But this was a dire situation. The angel held onto Andras tightly and lifted off. The flight was a little awkward, and it was clear that the angel's normal grace in the air was hampered severely. But it still beat walking.

The angel descended upon the grounds for the tournament. It had been a rather uncomfortable ride, but Andras figured showing up via angel would at least give her style points. "Set me down near the entrance!" Andras commanded. The sound of angel wings beating turned at least a few heads as Andras was let down, dropping to the ground to a crouching position before slowly rising to a standing position. Andras let out a low laugh as the angel flew away above her. "Mufufu. Beware, mortals... The Demon Lady of Despair has descended."

Galbrek

The half-demon was disguised as a wandering vendor in the audience, wearing some binoculars around his neck. Clad in a white and blue attire, with a white and blue cap closely to his eyes, making sure his enemies wouldn't spot his regal looks from a distance. With this he could easy make his way towards the vigilante team. Once that Wolf guy were on the field he could sneakily move up and hypnotize the pink haired girl to follow him.

The plan was so simple, but the simplicity of it made Galbrek fill with joy. How humiliating for them to fall to such a basic plan. But they were humans, and humans were beneath him. On his way to the vigilantes side of the audience he had almost bumped into someone wearing a sun bleached and worn out white hoodie.

These wretched humans. Filthy. Simply filthy.

Galbrek couldn't help but mutter under his breath and snarl when people kept ordering nuts and drinks from him.

I hope you choke on the nuts you conceited idiots. Intoxicated mongrels.

That's when he felt a tug at his shirt and he stared down at a young boy who pointed a finger at him. "Haha!" He said and made a facial expression, sticking his tongue at Galbrek. Galbrek's eyebrows furrowed before he leaned down and pointed to the Mephisto team. "Have you seen that fool over there?" The boy in curiousity, or simply as a reaction turned to look where the half-demon pointed.

Galbrek took one of the cold drink glasses and then grabbed hold of the boy's pants, pulling and leaving a big enough gap so he could pour the ice cold drink down his trousers before standing up. The boy squirmed, before he began to cry and move away, likely towards his parents located somewhere.

"Oh my bad. That fool was you." Galbrek said in a gloating tone and looked down towards the Vigilante's team.

Time to find that pink haired bitch... Galbrek also spotted Andras in his binoculars. There you are my brand new toy. I will have your power. Then when I do I shall dispose of both William and the idiotic snugglebitch half-traitor. Let see who else is here… Some idiots with William looking all cheery and as if they've won the entire thing. Bleh! Makes me sick just looking at them. Hm. That one actually dresses well for a human. He adjusted his zoom at Lise, whom shared a similar style of fashion as himself. But he didn't waste more time than necessary, he turned to look at the Mephisto team.

There's the entire group of useless minions, completely fucking useless every last one but Yuuto and Thobias. Vittorio and Celestine were about as useful as half of Adam. Where the fuck is Adam? I need him here right about now. Fegin better get him from where he is or I will have to do it myself. He turned the binoculars back to the Vigilantes. Andras, my little puppet. You will unleash all manner of evil into the world, and I shall make you pull the trigger...

"Hmm?" He changed his sights to the others present.

What a bunch of nobodies apart from her. No wonder my useless sister is with them. Fucking sad...

Aram closed the door to his apartment quietly behind him. After the incident that left him drained on the floor of his kitchen, his ward hadn't let him leave the apartment. That had been days ago. He made his way down the stairs at a furtive pace; today was tournament day, and he wasn't gonna let anything get in his way. He needed to prove himself.

He had a large cloth cover draped over his arm as he made his way down the street towards where the tournaments where held every year. In said cover was his "serious attire", as he called it. His usual, supply-filled satchel would be replaced by an array of padded pockets inside his suit-coat. The lag of the cumbersome bag would grant him more maneuverability for his sword-play. The set of clothes was a dull red, with pinstripes. Additionally, the back of the coat depicted a large transmutation circle, in a dark, emboldened maroon.

A shadow flew overhead as Aram walked drew close to the tournament area. Aram thought to pass it off as a bird, but it was much too large. Next he knew, a girl descended from the sky under the wing of an angel. Andras. She made an impressive show of landing, laughing as she wielded...a piece of bread, as she announced her arrival. She always did have a certain chutzpah.

Aram passed her without second thought, waltzing towards the changing rooms within the tournament grounds with a determined gait. "Get a move on chachka, they're probably waiting on us." he said.

Shortly after, he would come out of the dressing area in his tournament attire, stretching his arms above his head. It fit perfectly.

"Let's get this show on the road." he said to no-one in particular as he made his way to the grounds.

Louen de Bretonny

Louen de Bretonny watched the jerkass nut vendor look at the team with his binoculars; despite the guy's attempts to hide his looks, Louen can see that the nut vendor was handsomer than someone of his job can be expected to be. Must be new, he thought. And probably straight, meaning that I can only ogle at him. That, and perhaps mess around and tease a little. He smiled impishly from his seat just behind Galbrek, and said, "So... Ogling Galiere, it seems? Not everyone manages to pull off the crossdressing look, but she makes it work!" A slight smirk. "You know, you're rather cute yourself, what with those surpisingly smooth hands of yours'."

A chuckle. "Ha ha! Just teasing. Anyway, my name is Louen de Bretonny, military cadet and gentleman." And indeed, one can see that Louen was clad in the blue-and-red uniform of a Rhean Military Academy student. "Sorry if you're not really attracted to the same gender, just on leave from the Academy to watch the tournament, maybe even get some tips on using my own power."

There was a glint in his eyes as he spoke, "You know, someone observant can see that you don't like this job and that your skin is smooth enough to indicate that you don't actually need said job. Assuming that this is even a job in the first place - ha ha, just more teasing!"

A slight tightening of the face and arms, as though Louen was preparing to dodge. Should Galbrek throw something at him, or hit him, or even glare at him, Louen was prepared to try and avoid it, before leaning close to Galbrek's ear and saying, "You know, teenage contempt for everyone and everything is so last decade. And such a rich person habit as well. You also don't sound like you listen to warnings, but try and heed my advice; it'l help you in the long run."

Trolololol! Louen can already imagine the hatred on Galbrek's face as he prepared to dodge any move once more. Then he changed his mind at the last moment; he'll let Galbrek hit him with anything he had; Louen had a new plan.

The Tournament has me hyped up for a private duel. I'll go get offended by his next move, shout my outrage, and challenge him to a private duel. I'll beat him up then ask him to help me with my plan to get together with the man or woman of my choice. Then I can have a partner in tomfoolery for the day. Another thought, You know, with other superpowered teenagers around, this would be a nexus for planning and drama and a mixture of both. Getting involved can be fun. Might be.

Louen felt the gates of possibility open before him. All he had to do was allow himself to get hit or literally thrown a drink by Galbrek...

Brutus stared at the stadium as he walked out next to his teammates. He had only returned to the Vigilantes' HQ the previous day, having been spending most of his time training. While he'd managed to improve his skills, he hadn't really made much progress on a new technique he was working on. Still, progress was progress, and Brutus was never one to turn down any sort of improvements, no matter how minor. He glanced over at Aram and Andras. He quirked an eyebrow at the card-wielding girl as an indication that he had indeed seen her late arrival. "So, I can guess that someone woke up late this morning?" he asked. The question was asked in a humor-filled voice and with a smirk, something that few would ever see or hear from the serious teen. "Aram, nice to see you again." Brutus then directed toward his other teammate, his voice still sounding humorous. He then tucked his hair (braided into a ponytail) into the hoodie he wore, before stepping away from his comerades and letting electricty spark around him. Oh yeah, he was ready.

As for Yuuto, he sat stock-still on the bench until the cheer went up, as did Bak's missiles. He'd gotten a stern talking-to from his parents about how the honor of the Kūgekino clan was on the line. After all, if the next heir of the clan performed well, then perhaps some of the more criminally inclined that were watching would hire the family to do more jobs. More jobs meant more income and prestige in the underground. So, of course, Yuuto nodded and played the part of the perfect dedicated heir. Ninjas had no friends, no emotions. He was merely a tool for his employer. And yet, he had been asked to participate in the tournament. The only way for Yuuto to accept in due accordance with his teaching was to treat these "games" as a job. His goal: to win. Yuuto glanced a Bak, noticing her casting a couple of worried glances at Vittorio. However, Yuuto set his ponderings aside. It wouldn't do to get too entangled in drama. He was here for a job, nothing more. However, he would give her an appreciative nod and a smile if she were to catch his eye. Just before the official start, Yuuto raised up his face mask. It was showtime.

The Tournament!!!

@rawkhawk64@Letter Bee@Bartimaeus@Dezuel@Crowvette@Hammerman@KillamriX88@Scarifar

As the horn as sounded signalling the students assembled on the field to retreat to their locker rooms to await their respective matches the large black screen's built into the walls around the seats flared to life, displaying the neatly arrayed tournament brackets. "That's right folk, feast your eyes and make sure you don't forget. One of these teams will fight their way past their legion of competitors to be crowned the Kings of Capture The Flag, pushing their school into this years front runner."

The camera pulled away from the brackets and as it did the whole interior of the announcers box came into view. Two people sat behind a long table, and easygoing looking man that lounged with his head resting on his hand and a serene looking nun that sat stock straight with her gauntleted fists folded in front of her. The man gave a cheeky little smile and sat up. "And will be your MC's for today's festivities! As always I am the ever gregarious, ever gorgeous, ever oh so humble Adenium Alhazred and joining me today to provide her insight on battle strategy and tactics is the lovely fist of the God of War himself, Mother Superior Gloria Maximillia!"

Gloria gave her own sweet smile a bowed to the audience. "May the grace of Bishamonten be with all those brave souls who do battle today, and may he sup greedily upon the blood we are about to spill."

"Hehehehe," Adenium laughed nervously. "Remember friends, we're all here to have a good time. There are medical teams standing by, along with a few St. Laurel's alumni ready to step in in case someone decides they're not here for good time, so if you've got a vendetta check it at the door and it's bound to be there waiting for you when leave. Speaking of..."

What looked like a bubble was currently growing in the center of the arena. It expanded outward, occasionally sparking with energy as it encountered the obstacles laid out before pushing past to envelop them. It expanded to the walls of the arena and then began to blow up, like a huge oval shaped balloon, Until it looked like the whole area and a good amount of the air above it was enclosed in a giant, glossy soup bubble. Then the gloss faded, unto the bubble could only faintly be seen when the wind blew hard enough to jostle it.

"Looks like they have the bound field in place." Adenium continued. "You folks in the front row might be tempted to touch the Bound field because it's so bouncy, but I would advise against this."

"I remember when they added the electric component of the bound field." Gloria said wistfully. "We would dare one another to see who could go the longest jumping on it before the shocks rendered us unconscious. Of course, they were stronger back in the day."

"Yes, nowadays it's just enough to keep someone from trying to push their way through the field. Remember that it is protective measure, for both the audience and the competitors."

"Though you could still stick someone to it and hold them there until they pass out."

"Gloria, please..."

"Pardon? Are we not all here to have fun?"

Meanwhile, as these words blared from the screen that was also in the Mephisto locker room it was drowned out by a small crisis. Not only had Thobias never shown up, but it seemed like Celestine had gotten cold feet and pulled a runner. Clara had assured everyone that, as she trusted their judgement on the battlefield, she would be the one to go and search for the delinquent students. The problem was she wasn't back yet, the first match was about to start, and that left Bak and Rurik high and dry. They'd be disqualified without their third member.

So it was that Bak had gone begging.

"Please please please please please!" Bak said, hands clasp in front of her chest as she tilted anxiously in front of the trio of Yuuto, Vittorio, and Christine. "I am sure Clara will find someone before your match, but if Rurik and I do not have Christine right now we will lose before we even get to fight!"

Once she got their agreement she all but picked Christine up and carried her away to their match.

Luckily for Vittorio and Yuuto, however, Clara had indeed found someone. With a whiff of brimstone a noticeably frazzled and twitchier Gilliam was suddenly dumped out of thin air into the room. His hair was matted and unkempt, his clothing was mismatched, he smelled like a sewer, and he didn't seem to have full control of the configuration of his face. He looked around, his eyes frantically scanning the room he was in. Then, realization! "This was today?" He asked incredulously from two separate mouths before dragging himself to his feet. "How long have I been gone?"

And so the matches began and continued throughout the day, the weaker teams and fodder sent in by lesser schools falling like wheat before the farmers scythe. Henry Darge, Trevor Graybody, Goldilocks Evergreen, YOLOman, all strong fighters in their own right and yet all came up short until, at last, the tournament was within spitting distance of being decided.

The final eight teams stared at the brackets that decided their fate.

First was Rurik, Christine, and Bak VS. Andras, Brutus, and Aram. Bak scowled at the listing. Vigilantes! Traitors that they were she couldn't wait to put a missile in the faces, even it it meant facing Brutus's awful Zaps.

Next was Andreim, Lise, and Samoth VS. Reverie, Eulogy, and Misery, representing Bishamonten Seminary. Strange as their names were they had done really well for a bunch of nuns in training.

Third was Katherine, Cassius, and William VS. Vittorio, Yuuto, and Gilliam. Gilliam had managed to get calmed down and showered, but had still seemed filled with the nervous energy of a hunted animal. He spent the matches before this more concerned with scanning the crowd, refused to take his base form in public, and was even pretending that he only had super strength and reflexes, forgoing his monstrous powers entirely.

This, though, had nothing on the strangeness going on with Katherine, who had spent the first half of the day seemingly having hushed, mumbling arguments with herself that just seemed to get worse and worse as the day wore on. In contrast her performance in the arena just seemed to get stronger and stronger. Now, though? The arguments had stopped. Or maybe they'd reached some kind of stasis? Whatever the case there was an eerie glint in her eyes now.

The last was Wolf, Naseraph, and Michael VS. Meredith, Diana, and Ria. A match the Nasearph seemed strangely exited for. On the opposite side, however, something weird was happening with Ria. As they fought through their matches together Ria's expression became more and more foreign to her. Even the people who had never had the displeasure on knowing her would think it was strange that a girl whose team was doing so well had such a look of worry on her face. Those that did know her knew that Ria never worried about anything.

Finally the horn sounded, calling the first teams onto the field. Which one would stand atop the pinnacle, waving their flags proudly in victory? That was about to be decided!

FIRST MATCH! START!!!

Christine Abigail

Well, she didn't expect this to happen.

Some of the Mephisto participants never showed up, making some of the teams there without a full member. Naturally, without a full member, the team would be instantly disqualified. And so, Bak had to beg Christine to return back to their group, as their match was the first one and there wasn't any more time to seek out replacement members.

"Alright, alright, I'll join," Christine replied with a smile, putting her hands on Bak's shoulders. "I like it more with your group anyways."

The first couple of matches were a breeze, at least to her. They were all decent opponents, but they were still no match against her and her team. Some of them often got distracted by something, allowing her to land an easy finishing blow to them. Unbeknownst to her, it was thanks to her short coat blowing all over in the middle of combat, flashing her panties to the opponent. Today, she wore her blue-striped pair.

And now, it was finally time for the real match to begin. They versus a team from Vigilantes. Her heart beat with excitement. This should be really fun indeed.

"Alright, Rurik, Bak, let's do our very best," she said to her team mates before the match began. "It's fine if we lost, as long as we give it our all."

As they stepped out onto the field Bak's eyes were focused forward with the sort of intensity she usually only had when punishing students, her eyes fixed on a point in the far wall as if trying to stare through it.

As a matter of fact, she was staring through it thanks to her thermal vision. She could see the shape of them n the other side of the wall, blobby outlines of heat that morphed and fluctuated with their movements. She clenched her fists at the sight, one of them still hidden under the cast she'd hadn't had to take off yet thanks to the efforts of Rurik and Christine. She was happy for that. It was like she was getting to save it for this special occasion.

"They are all clustered up now." She said. "When they move I will tell you where they go." Bak wasn't fast enough to mount an effective offensive against the enemy flag, so it was advantageous for get to stay as far back as possible so she could relay enemy movement to her team. This meant that she was also the iron fortress that defended the flag if worst came to worst. That might not work this time, however. Brutus was over there, after all.

She narrowed her eyes. "Rurik, Christine, I would like very much to crush these vigilantes into the dirt."

Rurik gingerly touched his cheekbones. He'd taken a nasty hit. One of his last opponents had been particularly tough. He'd mostly, OK entirely, been on defense in every round so far. "Defense." Which was to say he'd stayed near Bak and let her do most of the work. Rurik's greatest achievements so far had been distracting their opponents until they forgot to pay attention to Bak, allowing her to shoot them. This generally left the enemy team reduced enough for Christine to easily handle stealing their flag.

He was sort of annoyed now, though. He supposed he shouldn't have expected to get out of this unscathed, but he'd nearly been KO'd in their last match, his team having to save him. He didn't want to be there to begin with, and he was being reminded why. Winning just meant he had to fight again. But losing on purpose was harder to justify when he was on a team... Especially when he didn't hate anyone on his team this time.

The point of all this was to say that stress and frustration were mounting and his motivation was starting its dive off a cliff.

And then Bak said something about really wanting to win this match in particular. Her timing was just oh so perfect...

Unfortunately for her, he just didn't really feel it in him to "give it his all" as Christine put it. A fact that may or may not have been clear on his face as he stood there, shoulders sagging and hands pocketed.

Galbrek

The half-demon gritted his teeth and narrowed his eyes, his eyebrows furrowed slightly to turn to whomever it was that dared to disturb him.

This fool keeps blabbering on. Why would I care what my deluded sister does or looks like? Cute? How ill-chosen words. I am beautiful, not cute you dim witted buffoon.

He paused in his thoughts before continuing to ponder. A military student. Why can't he go and be awfully gay somewhere else? Oh the trouble of being too beautiful. To think such would be a hinderance to me. Won't this fool ever shut up?

Galbrek changed his expression to a bored one.

Teenage contempt? Don't tempt me you moronic misfit or it will take a decade for them to gather your shredded body.

Galbrek's expression changed to a smirk at the idea and then set his eyes on the military student again.

"Oh you have quite the talent for seeing the obvious." Galbrek said in a soft manner and gazed into Louen's eyes as he began to use his hypnotic gaze, before uttering the command to him.

"You should go over to the Mephisto team and show your appreciation to the girl with the book. And be a good boy."

The half-demon smirked as he attempted to draw the military boy away. Or be a good idiot and fuck off, you wretched excuse of human excrement walking on two legs. I have more pressing matters to attend to. He didn't wait long until he began to move down the stands and towards the Vigilante team area, carefully moving to not draw unwanted attention and avoiding his sister who was semi-interested in watching, looking into a book of hers every now and then. Success was surely not far away, having waded down and sold some nuts to some loud individuals which had spilled some drink on him. He collected himself not to strangle the man on the spot, and carefully approached the pink haired girl. Vera.

"Nuts here, nuts and drinks." He said in a slightly distorted voice from his usual, walking past a few individuals before he got close to Vera.

Time to crack this nuthead open like a coconut. "Good day, would you like some of these nuts or a drink? Look here, this one is really good for the skin." He said and smiled, waiting for the moment Vera would look up. Seeking to affect her with his hypnotic gaze.

"You need a little walk. Some sightseeing would do you well. Follow me." He smiled, gradually he felt like smiling even more and sinister but he had to keep his mask and make sure she would submit to his command.
