Yuuki's a rather small girl: below average height and weight, a petite build, small facial features. A pair of dark eyes peer out from beneath a curtain of light brown, almost auburn hair. Her soft, pale skin is mostly unblemished, save for a smattering of freckles kissing her cheeks and nose...and the scars.

Zig-zagging across the girl’s body are a number of jagged scars, most somewhat shallow and well healed by now. However, a significantly deeper one marks the girl's face, drawn from above her right eye (two centimeters above the outer end of her brow) carving out diagonally and vertically about seven centimeters across her forehead/scalp. Unless she absolutely has to wear her hair completely up, Yuuki’s bangs typically hide the worst of it.

Her largest scars, however, are on her legs. Or rather, what remains of them. Along the bottom of her stumps are the telltale signs of surgery — long scar tissue with short, symmetrical offshoots running along the length as if her legs were held closed by invisible centipedes.

Rather obviously, Yuuki is an amputee. A bilateral above-knee amputee to be exact. Everything from about her mid-thigh down had to be removed. As such, she gets around on a pair of computer-assisted prosthetic legs, which allow her to walk about as well as a non-amputee, although more complex, agile movements are beyond her. Her gait, while significantly improved after years of adjusting to her new legs, is still somewhat...off.

Outside of her school uniform, Yuuki doesn't exactly have a set style of clothing she likes to wear. If it's not too small and doesn't smell too bad, she'll wear it. Which makes her a nightmare to actually shop with. The girl has zero sane fashion sense. She tends to gravitate towards more...unique items. Basically the weirder the better.

Yuuki lives with her father, Itou Hiroshi, in a small one bedroom apartment (1DK) in a multi-unit block not too far from Fujioka Senior High: her getting the bedroom with western style bed, him sticking with a tatami mat in the living space. They live rather frugally, due in part to Hiroshi’s frequent job-hopping. Never much of a traditional guy, Hiroshi spent most of his youth aspiring to make it successful as a musician. Despite actually being rather talented, Hiroshi’s career never actually took off and with no real education or tradeskill to fall back on, the Itou family had to mainly rely on Yuuki’s mother as the main breadwinner.

She passed in the same accident that claimed the Itou’s eldest daughter and Yuuki’s legs.

The tragedy brought the two much closer together than they might have otherwise been. Yuuki adores her father, but worries that he’s pushing himself too hard or that he’s going without so that she can have more. He worries that he’s not doing enough.

They may not have much, but at least they have each other.

LIVE!! That’s Yuuki’s plan. That’s her motive. Having already had a couple brushes with the whole death thing, the idea of working in some office day in and day out or sitting at home being a housewife makes her nauseous. She wants to see the world. Catch a boat or plane after graduation and just see what’s out there. Go to some foreign city in Australia, Europe, or even the States and be a street musician.

As far as school is concerned...well, Yuuki doesn’t really care too much. As long as she doesn’t fail, she’ll be fine. And even if she does...oh well. Minimum effort! She’s much more interested in just meeting some new people.

Ishikawa Kaede

Makeup/“Cosplay” - Judging by how he handles a brush, Kaede was born to be a makeup artist. It’s his passion. It’s also a pretty safe way of getting mocked relentlessly at school. As such, Kaede has gotten into cosplay as a cover. Still likely to be teased for it, but maybe not as bad. To really sell it, Kaede got into sewing as well. If you’re going to do something, might as well do it right!

Were Kaede a woman, one could call him petite and that would pretty much describe him perfectly. His build is small and dainty, not helped by his rather short stature (roughly 156cm). And even among other small guys, Kaede sticks out for being so thin. He seems little more than skin wrapped around bone.

To make matters worse, he has what one might typically call feminine features. Small, round face. Tiny nose. Clear, fair skin. Somewhat longer hair (he should probably get it cut). Why, the only things that stop him from getting weird looks when walking into public restrooms are his lack of bust and hips.

Now when it comes to clothes, Kaede is rather particular. He’s really into Korean fashion, which reflects in most of the boy’s outfits That being said, he has no trouble dressing up or down to suit the occasion. As a rule of thumb, he keeps his clothes neat and tidy, free of any pesky wrinkles or stains.

Kaede currently lives with his maternal grandparents in their apartment (3LDK) a few blocks from the school he’ll be attending. It’s within walking distance of the school and he’d be able to keep his grandparents from getting too lonely in their retirement. That’s what Kaede would say if you asked him. Truth be told, however, the real reason is that Kaede just wanted to get away. He and his father aren’t exactly close, with tensions being particularly high as of late. His mother knows that, but she prefers to act as if nothing is wrong.

They agreed with no protest.

Kaede’s grandparents didn’t need any convincing. They were more than happy to put up their grandson for the school year. Honestly, they just appreciate the company. It helped that Kaede always was super close to them. More so than any of the other grandchildren.

Given his own room and a key to the apartment, Kaede pretty much has free reign to come and go as he pleases. All-in-all, it’s a much better situation as far as Kaede sees it.

DO NOT FAIL! Kaede, as bright as he is about most things, is absolutely clueless when it comes to schoolwork. He’s the absolute worst at it. Especially when it comes to tests. He cracks under scholastic pressure. So why does he care so much if he’s so hopeless? Well...Kaede wants to be a Hollywood director and to make that happen, he wants to study abroad at a good film school. To get into said good film school, he’ll probably need good grades. Thus here we are.

He’s also playing around with the idea of joining a club...though he can’t exactly decide on which one to choose.

Himawari Shiori

Fighting - Shiori has a bad rep as a delinquent, stemming from a combination of a short temper and general inability to cooperate with most people.

Juggles a cashier's job on weekdays and works in a cafe on the weekends.

Standing at one hundred and sixty four centimeters, Shiori is more on the leaner side of things. Her body type could be considered willowy, though she sees herself mostly as a stick with arms and legs. Her brightly colored hair is usually wild and untamed, swept into a side ponytail because that's the only way she really knows how to control it, only letting it down when she's at home. Her round face and eyes are usually accompanied by a permanent frown, only contorting into an annoyed expression when the situation calls for it. She doesn't pay much mind to fashion or really cares how she looks.

Shiori's family has a lot of tension, coming mostly from her high-class mother marrying a low-class man and never getting used to the life. The passive-aggressiveness between the pair ended up getting directed at the kid keeping them together, resulting in a somewhat bitter upbringing. Shiori took out her frustration on her classmates, complicating the family life somewhat. During the summer, her aunt contacted them, explaining that she wanted her daughter to go to a normal high school rather than a private academy so that she would be a little more appreciative of what she had. At first Shiori's mother outright refused, not wanting the rest of her family to know her marriage was nearly in shambles, but Shiori herself ended up going over her mother's head and agreeing to it, seeing it as an opportunity to leave her parents' house. And so her aunt rented out a small house just for the two girls, boosting up Shiori's living situation and saddling her with her somewhat dim-witted cousin. For the most part, Shiori found Ichika's lack of common knowledge to be greatly entertaining, less so when she nearly burned down the place trying to cook one day, though.

She doesn't really care about school that much, only going because she can't find a good paying job unless she graduates. If she can, she'd like to become a nurse. Once she gets said job she plans on becoming completely independent, never wanting to rely on anyone for anything.

Her aunt bought her a cellphone as thanks for taking care of Ichika. She usually carries a very small notepad that has a small pocket, usually filled with coupons. The notepad itself has her weekly budget and schedule.
