Introducing Miles and Nero
Short interaction with Dahlia @Silent Observer
Location: Library before homeroom

"Ms. Quinn? MS. QUINN?" an interviewer waved his notepad in front of the woman caught in a daze in a room blaring white. A woman who is most known for being the face of DREAD, a well known horror investigative documentary series. A show she started with her friends, after their G.R.I.M. adventures when they were meddling teens curious about subjects beyond them. Years and years after their G.R.I.M. adventures, when subjects like paranormal activity, supernatural, the cosmic world... everything and anything... were simply a game of make believe. G.R.I.M. was their squad when they were innocent, before they decided to start a new project that would change their lives forever. A project where they would find out all these stories rooted from actual truths. Their exploration didn't stop there. They opened their series to subject matters like unsolved mysteries, cold cases, following the murders of famous psychopaths, in hopes they'd find their own answers and see what truly went down.

"Huh?" Ms. Quinn, as the interviewer put it, was what the audience would consider 'off'. She wasn't even wearing her signature prescription glasses. She was dressed to impress, having returned from her recent escapade for her show, but something wasn't right. Something seemed to be bothering her. She couldn't focus on the present. On the interviewer. On anything he was saying.

"Your sister, Brie, did you guys find her?"

"Brie, she's..." Hearing a clatter to her side, she swiftly turned her head to look to the left of her.

"Gracie! Gracie!" She was no longer in the white room. Her mind was stuck on the top floor, above a night club. She stood in front of a large commercial-grade steel door, complete with rust marks and a door lever. There was a deteriorating sign that read: Warning: Authorized personnel only. Sólo el personal autorizado, no hay entrada.

Not too far behind her was her team, one man holding a camera and keeping it on her. Clearing his throat, he asked, "Are we going in?"

"Knowing my sister, she would go somewhere she shouldn't... we're positive this is the last place people saw her?" Before she reached for the door handle, she adjusted her glasses. Her expression read that she doubted her sister was still here, but she needed to have some faith their search would be short.

"Her friends said she disappeared from the dance floor. We're not positive if she exited or not, all we know is she got separated from her group."

There were stories about this floor. People called it The Beast's Maw. Of course, it was only logical to kill two birds with one stone, search for her sister and get b-roll footage for the show. Next week they were scheduled to explore this floor, but due to circumstances, they're exploring it earlier. The door was surprisingly unlocked, so after she swung it open, she and her friends entered with the usual caution they did with every unknown territory they explored. Not even seconds later, they stopped in their tracks.

"What the hell..." They had entered hell itself. The flickering lights revealed torture instruments everywhere. It was like they were on the set of Saw. Chains, vertical beds with straps, knife sets, and other torture, medieval-esque tools.

"Maybe someone has a kink? One of her friends joked. This wasn't the time or place for jokes.

Before Gracie could respond to her, only giving the girl an eye roll, the door...

SLAM! The entrance door abruptly closed and the sound of it being locked from the outside could be heard. Soon followed the other doors in the attic they had yet to discover. They weren’t alone, that’s for sure. The warmth was sucked out and left a slicing chill. Off in the distance, there was heavy wolf’s breathing. An actual wild beast was somewhere hidden in this godforsaken place.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

There was no sight of the beast and its drool dropping onto the cement floor of the chamber resonated in the creeping silence. Faint, very faint, steps could be heard around the squad, as if they were surrounded by at least five others, but still… there was no sign of human existence. Only eerie noises to keep their lovely guests company.

To their discovery, above the Judas Chair (a chair layered with 1,500 spikes on every surface with tight straps to restrain its victim. Made of iron and containing spaces for heating elements beneath the seat), there was a two-wire broadcast intercom that switched on and rewarded them with a music box melody. The song replaced the emptiness of the Maw and all other noises dissipated. Perhaps, they did enter a horror film… or someone not all mentally there was toying with them.

The flickering light seemed to be dying out. The only source of light in that room was fading. If their senses weren’t heightened before, they would surely be now. The stench of the room was grotesque. Rotton. Rancid. Like death.

Do you feel something in the pit of your stomach? If the light goes out… what would you do?

"B-brie? Are you here?" Gracie turned her head to the videographer and quickly demanded, "Don't stop recording."

Tap! Tap! Tap! A blonde boy sitting at a table in the school's library, having just finished gently sketching a frightened face on his heroine, Gracie Morgan Quinn, of his visual novel series, glanced up to see a drumstick clapping against the table. "What-what-whatttt? I literally got to the intense part. Do you know how long it took me to really test Gracie's sanity? A LONG TIME, MY DUDE!" (Artwork for panel pages are like this example. Artwork for cover pages, concept sheets, and 'special' shorts are like this example)

"Miles." The librarian growled. "No yelling in the library."

"Sorry Miss, ah, whatever. Anyways. Now her sister's missing and it WILL interfere with her work." Did he sound insane? He probably sounded insane. "She's always been super driven and honestly at times I think she'd choose the show over her friends, but still, now her SISTER has gone missing. What's so important, Junior?" A little squeak came out of the boy's shirt pocket and the blonde smiled at his cute rat, "You want cheese, Gracie? I got you cheese." While he waited for his friend's response, putting his pencil down on his draft (of one of the later volumes in his series), which rolled to the panel of the Judas Chair, the artist took cheese out of a small dragon born dice pouch beside his pencil case and fed his adorable pet.

"Did you forget why we came to school early in the first place?" Nero knew how caught up his boy got when he was in the zone, but they had planned this date for a week. The copier machine had stopped FIVE MINUTES ago. "Miles, I get it. Mercy gets it too." While he twirled the other drumstick in his left hand, the one that wasn't tapping a drumstick on the table to annoy his friend, a black labrador gave Miles wide eyes. "But, people are going to start showing up and there is no advertisement yet. Man, this is important to me. You know that. I want to make my dad proud and you also know I can't cover school grounds as fast as you." Because, well, he was blind.

"Blahhhhhhh." Miles dramatically sighed, as he pushed his seat back. "Fine, fine. I got you." After throwing his book bag over his shoulder, he got up rather lazily, went to the copier machine, slowly, very slowly, grabbed ALL the printed papers for auditions tomorrow afternoon for Nero's future band, flyers HE made, and glided back, yes glided because he had heelys on, to the drummer boy, "You owe me."

"I know." The light made Miles' blonde hair glow, so Nero could vaguely distinguish where his friend was and reached to teasingly ruffle his friend's hair, "You're the best." Nero cheesed at the artist, knowing Miles was probably the most loyal and lovable friend he had.

"I know I am." With that, Miles rolled off, having forgotten his draft, dice pouch, and pencil case on the table, ready to staple and tape flyers EVERYWHERE in this biznatch. Do note that his initials were handwritten on all his belongings and artwork. MJM. Sure, not many people would be able to know right off the back that those letters stood for 'Miles Jericho Michaelson' but it was his way of claiming ownership over the things that belonged to him. Too bad he was rather forgetful...

And so was his friend.

Nero would've remembered that his friend was drawing moments ago, but a girl tapped on his shoulder, "Junior?" He turned his head towards the voice and recognized it as Veronica from math class, "Can I pet Mercy? I want to start my morning right... since, well, I wasn't allowed to go to the party last night and it makes me a little sad."

"Oh yeah, that's fine. Uh, if it makes you feel better, I didn't go either." Nero used one of the drumsticks to scratch his head, before adding, "Let's go to the lounge area, so we're not disturbing people." The drummer boy shrugged at his acquaintance and led the way, away from the librarian. Mercy was so popular at this school.

The school library in the early morning before classes started was home to very few individuals. The nerds, the geeks, the dorks, the misfits… whatever name you decided to give them, you could probably find them in the library at any given time. Taxpayer dollars went to good work when it came to the BHHS library, their collection of books was vast and expansive. On this Wednesday morning, curled up in a cushioned reading chair in the northeast corner of the library, was one of the aforementioned misfits. Dahlia Rothstein, or Gia, if you were one of the very few to actually know her.

Gia thumbed through a book on a botany that categorized all of the plants and herbs used medicinally around the world. She sat cross legged in this chair, reading about plants for the majority of the morning. Her phone buzzed in her lap with an alarm indicating that she had ten minutes left before she needed to make it to her homeroom, lest she be mistakenly marked absent again. Dahlia slid the botanical book into her patchwork cloth hobo bag and stood up to head to the fiction section of the library.

Aside from reading about witchcraft, astrology, and nature, Gia quite enjoyed reading works of fiction as well. Particularly mystery books, supernatural, fantasy, and horror genres. She briefly noticed that there were some belongings left unattended on a table, but paid them little mind. She figured that some student likely had run to the bathroom, or gone to check out a book, and would be back for them soon enough. Dahlia thumbed through some titles on the shelf — some of which she had already read, some with rather uninteresting blurbs, and even some brand new titles.

After about five minutes of deliberation, Gia decided on a book about a brewing bar between faerie kingdoms. With her novel of choice selected, she stood up and once again passed by the table with the unattended belongings. Odd… surely whoever they belonged to should be back by now? Being a girl with very little regard for “acceptable” social norms, Dahlia stepped over to the table and nosely took a peek at what was left behind. There was a leathery pouch that looked like something she might store spell components in, a roll of pencils — perhaps those of an artist — and a collection of papers. Gia picked up a few of the sheets of paper and skimmed the contents. This mystery artist had a unique style, it was surprisingly well done for a high schooler. The really exciting part for Gia, however, was the storyline. The fear and mystery in the pages was so palpable! She wanted to read more about this Gracie Quinn and her G.R.I.M. adventures!

All of the items left on the table bore a set of initials — MJM. Dahlia carefully gathered them and slid them into her hobo bag alongside her botany book and school supplies. She brought up her fiction novel to check the book out at the librarian’s desk. “Excuse me, Mrs. Reese, but could you describe what the person who sat at that table over there earlier today looked like?” Dahlia asked, pointing to the table she took the comic in progress from.

Scrunching her nose, Mrs. Reese tried to recall who was there. Kids came and went in her library all the time, it was hard to remember faces. What she could recall was a steady drumming and a plaid shirt boy with a fluffy dog, “Dark brown hair, plaid red shirt, blue jeans, has a black dog with him all the time.” Unfortunately her age was showing and she didn’t mention anything about the blonde hair boy she scolded only moments ago. “I don’t think he was alone though, but he’s the one I can remember the most.” Gia only asked for a description, not a name. Most people knew the kid with the dog was the blind boy of the school, though no one actually believed he was blind.

Dahlia was excited to get a description. With a physical description, a set of initials, and the belongings in her bag, Gia would have a bonafide mystery to solve. The brunette nodded along with Mrs. Reese as she spoke, repeating the descriptors aloud so that she could commit them to memory. “Brown hair… red plaid… blue jeans… black dog. Got it! Thanks, Mrs. Reese!” Gia grinned at the librarian and rushed off towards homeroom. “Brown hair… red plaid… blue jeans…” Dahlia recited the descriptors to herself as she navigated the halls. “... black dog. Wait… Black dog?!” Nero? The blind boy? There was no way that he was the mystery artist that she was looking for on account of, well, obvious reasons… “Oh NO!” Now her mystery was back to square one, all she had was the draft of a comic, and a set of initials.

Near the cafeteria, rolling down the halls, Miles went to the student board and slapped a flyer on it, over the Valentine's dance flyer, because it was in the most ideal spot to place a flyer.

A Collaboration Between: @Bee and @Universorum
Featuring: Allison Bentley and A Double

”Hey… ‘their’ is spelled ‘they’re’. One’s ‘they are’ and one isn’t.” Allison pointed randomly on A Double’s essay. Truth be told, there was absolutely no reason their ‘“there” should be a “they’re”. A Double’s current spelling was just fine. Allison was distracted thinking about the nice drummer boy she’d thought about earlier. Boy, he was cute. Allison had never seen someone so cute, let alone someone cute enough to distract her just enough to throw her off her game.

Allison then snapped back to reality, and looked down at the paper once again. There were a lot of grammatical and spelling errors that needed to be ironed out, but Allison was more than willing to help him out. The only problem was that she wasn’t in the right mindset to do so, but A Double didn’t know that.

During an average study hall period, A Double worked with Allison Bentley. This typically consisted of A Double just sitting there while she did the heavy lifting. He wrote the papers, but she refined them. She really knew what she was doing! All the grammar and apostrophes and commas in the world were beneath her. She knew how to fix any paper so it read more smoothly! She even knew what the winky-face punctuation mark was for.

Today though? Today, A Double was having to think. He didn’t like that. He didn’t come here to think, he came here because she made everything easier for him. He had trouble with words, and letters, and struggled even harder when it was things like this, where there were multiples of the same word! He couldn’t even remember what the phrase was, but it didn’t matter.

What mattered was right now was A Double was completely confused. First off… “But Allie… there are three there’s. ‘There,’ ‘their,’ and ‘they’re.’ And I wrote ‘they’re coming to a store near you,’ like ‘they are coming to a store near you.’ And like I think that’s right but now you’re questioning it and like you’re one of the smartest people I know and if you’re wrong then I don’t know what to think. And if you’re right, then I still don’t know what to think because it goes against everything I’ve ever thought I was learning.” A Double made a defeated noise, something somewhere between a grunt and a groan, and looked down at the huge dictionary in front of him.

This contained the answer to his problems.

Mulling over what A Double had just said, Allison quickly realized how foolish she was to make such a basic mistake. The differences between the word were something that Allison had understood almost immediately, but yet she tripped up. Damn, she was really off her game today. ”Oh yeah, you’re right. Haha, I was just testing you. See? You can absolutely do this.” Allison bullshitted, before sitting down to look at A Double’s paper a bit closer.

Pointing on the page, she found something that tickled her in a weird way. ”Gatsby’s name isn’t Jay.”

It absolutely was.

“Are you okay?” A Double decided to broach the subject, taking it carefully at first. He considered himself something of an expert on talking to women, now that he had a girlfriend and everything. This would be pretty much the same! “I mean I read some of the book, and he was definitely named Jay…” A Double put his pencil down, and decided that he would take the time to help Allison, rather than to help himself.

“Cuz like, you can talk about stuff, if you want. I’m a pretty good listener?”

Allison was flummoxed. Of course she’d be okay, why wouldn’t she be?! ”What are you talking about, dude? You’re tripping big time.” Allison laughed nervously, ”I think we have more pressing issues here.” How could A Double not know the differences between their, they’re, and there, but know what was on Allison’s mind? Not like that was any of his business, though.

“I’m actually sober, which is different for me.” He scratched his nose for a brief second and squinted at Allison, leaning forward to analyze her more closely. “Nah… definitely something wrong there, man…” A Double blew a raspberry and shoved his paperwork away from himself, like a child who didn’t want to eat what was on their plate.

“You’re no help today! We can either talk about what’s on your mind, or we can do nothing today, because you’re just confusing me.”

”It’s nothing! I swear!” The daughter of the world famous wrestler known as Tsunami wasn’t going to go down that easily! ”What you need to focus on is your work in front of you.” Allison tsked, pushing the petulant man-child’s work back on front of him. ”Why worry about me when we have more to worry about there?” Allison was very clearly trying to dodge A Double, but she didn’t want the mighty Allison Bentley to know that she had fallen into the trap of catching feelings.

“Because I only even go to school cuz my mama wants me to and I don’t care about my grades that much, but you’re my friend, y’know? And like, friends look out for each other, so I’m just trying to look out for you…” A Double protested, shaking his head. He just wanted his friend to talk about whatever had her twisted, but damn. He didn’t need to be roasted like that. “You don’t have to burn on me like that, I don’t deserve that kind of thing.”

He had a point. Allison might as well have spilled the beans. He deserved that much. ”Okay… I met a cute boy today. To make a long story short, he defended me from a bully so he's my prince charming right now. Did I mention he was cute? He's cute.”

Allison was blushing a bit, but she didn't notice.

“Oh man, that’s cool. You should ask him to the Valentine’s Dance, man. I bet he thinks you’re cute too, and like you can go together and maybe you can kiss. Kissing is great, I do it all the time with my love.” A Double gave a warm smile, and held up his hand for a high five.

”I don’t know. Kissing just sounds nasty. All that slurping.” Allison shuddered. But hey, she’d have to give A Double a high five. ”Don’t boys usually ask people out anyway?”

“Yeah, usually, but this is… the flyer said it was named after someone named Sadie. And like, uhm, Sadie said… that uhm… girls should get to ask sometimes? So Sadie made it happen, and uhm… they named a dance after her. It’s a big thing across the country, I, uh… guess?” A Double’s explanation made sense, or at least it made sense to him, but… it was questionable if history would carry the same weight as if someone else had explained it to her. Luckily, the point was still there. “Hey, wait. What do you mean kissing sounds nasty? It’s the best! You should go find this boy and kiss him.”

”It sounds nasty! Sometimes I hear my moms kiss and it sounds all mushy and nasty like they’re squeezing fruit or something.” Allison shuddered. The prospect of her having to do everything was frightening her, ”Besides… I don’t even know how to do that. All I know how to do... is this. My moms haven’t told me shit!” Allison complained, before shrugging. ”Teach me your ways.”

“I’ve only ever kissed one girl, though. I just know that I really liked it. She just put her lips on mine. And we kissed. It was nice. I thought you should put your hands around his neck, that’s what Q does. I like that. And, uh… maybe you should… I dunno. But as for asking him, you just sort of do it. Cuz it’s like when I do a new ramp, or a new trick… you just have to close your eyes, tell yourself you’re a superstar… and go for it. Stick the landing, and if you don’t? Try again.” A Double didn’t have exact instructions for kissing, but doing things that might seem scary? Oh yeah, that was the boy’s specialty. “Trust me. Sometimes you just have to go for it, and remember: the best is yet to come. You’re still young. I’m still young! Just go for it. Go find your cute boy Prince Charming and kiss him on the mouth and ask him to the dance. Ask him to the thingy that’s happening Friday night at Captain Cuddles.”

”Wait… why are there so many things happen now? Wasn’t there a party yesterday? And last week? And now we have a dance this Friday? Allison asked curiously, ”Do you need posters or something like that? I don’t know. I don’t know what to do, man.”

“No they’re watching Star Wars at the pizza place. It’s twelve dollars for two people. You get a blanket to sit on on top of the roof, a pizza buffet, and two orders of appetizers.” A Double explained, frowning. “What… what would I need posters for? Geeze, Allie, now you’re the dumb one.” The tables had turned. It seemed the child genius, when it came to anything that wasn’t book related, was no longer the smartest one in the room, and now it fell on him, Alan Alexander, to help her out. And, truth be told? He didn’t really like it.

“You could have your very own boyfriend, Allie.”

”Then what was I thinking of? I’m so confused.” Allison waved it off, ”I don’t know, dude! People like posters.” Allison had a concentrated look on her face as she devised a plan to get this guy to go to a movie watching thing with her. It was definitely uncharted territory for the rather naive girl. ”Don’t call me dumb! You’re the one that needs help with an English paper.”

“Letters confuse me!” A Double protested. He was in remedial English! He didn’t need to be reminded he was bad at it. Seconds after his defensive shout, the bell to signal the end of the class rang, and sighed, looking at Allie. “I’m sorry I yelled. Just go find him. Don’t not ask him out, you’ll regret it all your life. It’s better to be told no or to fail than to wonder if you could have succeeded, trust me. Here, take this.” A Double reached inside of his jacket, feeling around in the inner pocket.

And he kept feeling for long enough that it became awkward. “Wait. Other pocket.” He moved his hand over to the other pocket, and withdrew his trusty loaner dab pen. “This is my trusty loaner dab pen. As you can see, it has a label on it that says ‘trusty loaner dab pen. please return to a double or wyatt if found.’ Take it, and use it to give yourself confidence!” He said, before he thrust the device in Allie’s direction.

“You’re my friend! Sure, we’re not bestest friends, but I still like you, and you helped me out a bunch. So now, I’m doing my best to help you! Good luck.”

Receiving the pen, Allison took a close look at it. Just from the look if it, it looked like something that Allison shouldn’t really be messing with. That was ironic, considering Allison had quite the adderall habit. Taking the pen, she weighed it on her hand before handing it back to the nice man that gave it to her. ”No thanks.” Allison said, ”My parents would kill me if they found out I was into stuff like that.” The freshman sighed. The boy in remedial english did have a point. There was much less to be lost than there was to gain from asking the boy out. Worst case scenario? He said no and crushed her confidence when it came to boys. No biggie. Best case scenario? This boy becomes her one true love and they get married and live in a nice house with a kid and some cats.

”Do you know where he hangs out?”

A Double accepted the return of his trusty loaner dab pen, and shook his head. “No, I don’t know where he hangs out, because I don’t know his name. I just know you think he’s cute and that you want to kiss him. ...did he tell you anything about himself? Maybe there were some hints in there.” A Double offered the best tip he could, and placed the T.L.D.P. (Trusty Loaner Dab Pen) back into his coat pocket.

”Well… he knows Lillian. That one bitchy girl? She tried bullying me earlier today and he saved the day for me. That’s all I know.” Allison thought for just a second, ”Oh yeah! He plays the drums. The devil incarnate called her a drummer boy. At least, I think he does. I think he mentioned it. I dunno, that moment was a blur.”

“Then I bet you could try the music room. Run along now. I’m gonna go find Wyatt and Q.”

A @smarty0114 & @Universorum collab

Featuring: A Double, Wyatt Durand & Quincy Hart
Location: Burntown

Wyatt was, per usual, high as a kite. This particular afternoon, he was laying on the concrete ground of Burntown looking up at the serene, blue sky, his mind calmly at ease. Xanax will do that to you. His eyes drooping slightly, he was currently avoiding any thoughts of his secret (or not so secret, if you asked A Double), admirer. That’s where the Xanax had come in. Things were easier on drugs. A lazy smile crept across his face as his head lolled over to the side, to see one A Double Bishop, strolling towards him, Quincy Hart in tow. “Friends!” Wyatt called out lazily.

A Double had his arm around Q (he was learning!) as he walked toward Wyatt. A Double had gotten a text from Henry, that regarded… something about a secret admirer that Wyatt had? To be honest, as soon as A Double had gotten a chance, he’d gotten himself stoned as fuck, and he hadn’t come down since. “Heyyyyy, buddy. I have something that I’m supposed to tell you.” He said in a bright tone, squeezing Q closer to his shoulder. “Henry says it’s important.”

Wyatt’s mouth morphed into an O at A Double’s statement. “Okayyyyy,” Wyatt said, his eyes trained on the couple.

Quincy rolled her eyes, the whites tinged red from the weed she’d smoked earlier, and looked down at her curly haired friend. “Don’t you wanna know what it is?” Quincy asked.

Wyatt pondered that question for a moment. Did he want to know? Probably. “Okay. Shoot.”

“Henry sent me a text to let you know that your secret admirer — whoever that is — is gonna be meeting you at the Star Wars under the Stars thing, which, uhm… is a thing? So you like. Have a date, I guess?” Mission accomplished, A Double turned his attentions to Q, suddenly wondering if they were going to the Star Wars under the Stars. “Hey, Q… are we going to the thing? Because like, we should.”

It took a moment for Wyatt to process the information, but when he did, his face immediately sprouted a grin, toothy as ever and clear evidence that he was on some sort of drug. “Dope!” Wyatt shouted, pumping his fist into the air, still laying on the ground.

Quincy chuckled, then turned her head to her boyfriend (yes that was still a weird thought for her) and grinned. “Duh du jour, babe,” she said, planting a light kiss on A Double’s lips, before turning back to Wyatt. “Are you good, man?”

Wyatt looked up at Quincy, the euphoria from his newly discovered date still flooding his nervous system. “Never better Qster. Heyyy, A Dubs, tell H-Dog that I owe him one.”

A Double was uncomfortable. Wyatt was clearly high out of his mind; and it was not the same kind of high that A Double and Q had. He was high on something else, and A Double didn’t like it. He didn’t really approve of pill abuse, or cocaine abuse, or… well, really anything other than weed. Weed was like baby stuff compared to that stuff. Unfortunately? He wasn’t exactly able to confront Wyatt about it, it wasn’t really his style.

Nonetheless, he was worried about his best friend very worried about his friend, and he had a plan to deal with it: tell Q after they walked away. Then, she would surely either do it for him, or have some kind of suggestion to make it easier for him to talk to Wyatt about it. “Uh… yeah, I’ll tell him that when I see see him…” He said, giving Q a look that he hoped said ‘please abort mission.’

Q glanced over at A Double, catching something in his eye. Why was he looking at her like that? She glanced from him to Wyatt. “Babe, wanna go over to Captain Cuddles?” she asked, hoping to get A Double alone so she could talk about whatever he was trying to communicate with those stares.

“Yes that would be nice please.” A Double said, nodding to Q, before he looked at Wyatt. “Hey, Q and I will be back in a bit and we’ll bring you, uh… some soda. You look like you could use a soda. Dr. Pepper work? It does? Great.” A Double was talking much faster than he normally did, and after he finished, he started pulling at Q’s hand to lead her away and back to his car. Once they were out of earshot, he blurted:

“Wyatt looks like he’s torched on crack and I don’t like it but I’m his best friend and I don’t want him to think I don’t like him because he’s torched on crack but I don’t think I’d like him if he was torched on crack and I love him and I’d really like it if he wasn’t torched on crack.”

Quincy nodded along as A Double blurted out his concerns, chewing on her lip as she pondered how to respond. She was well aware that she was probably the least equipped person to give advice on the subject of drug abuse, but there weren’t exactly any other options. So, she tried her best. “Well, if it makes you feel any better, he’s not torched on crack. He’s probably on Xanax,” Q said, having been around Burntown enough to know the signs of some of the more common pills that Beverly Hills kids liked to take.

This was tricky. Quincy wasn’t as adverse to pills as A Double was, hell she’d dabbled a little herself, but she worried about Wyatt. “He seems fine for now, why don’t we go get some food, bring him back some, and I can talk to him once he’s a little bit more...present. Okay?”

“Uhm, okay.” He sighed and clicked open the car door, before he looked at Q. The truth was, A Double didn’t even really want Captain Cuddles! “Why don’t we go get something else? Wyatt looked high enough that he’ll forget we were here soon enough, since he’s already focused on the secret admirer and stuff. We can just go get Chinese Food. I don’t really want Captain Cuddles tonight. It is a happy food, I don’t wanna drag it down with my mood right now.”

Quincy nodded. “Works for me.”

Featuring: Jamie Callaghan
Location: The Newspaper Room, After School

Jamie had found himself alone in the newspaper room, as he so often did. School had ended a while ago, though to be honest he couldn’t tell you when. He hadn’t looked at a clock since he’d sat down to write this story. When he was in the zone, he wouldn’t let anything disturb him. He covered up clocks, turned off his phone, and focused completely and utterly on his story.

This particular story was a bombshell. In fact, the only reason he hadn’t written it up last night was because he’d been drunk, and he refused to soil his journalism with the ramblings of his drunken self. Jamie had far too much respect for the art, despite his position as a glorified gossip columnist. That didn’t matter though. This story was going to change things though. He was sure of it.

Now this brings us to what his story was about. Well, that should be obvious. Hailey Green and Ophelia Brycen, of course. Trixie had told him the story last night, and despite his inebriation, it’s pretty hard to forget your boss trying to kill herself because her best friend took pictures of her boyfriend and his cousin and framed him as a cheater, on the orders of her other best friend. Jesus, Beverly Hills really was messy.

As Jamie’s fingers hit the period key with a final clack he leaned back in his chair and admired what he’d written. Jamie normally didn’t like to brag about his work, but for gossip column stuff, this was groundbreaking. It was going to tear the school in two.

So, here we are again. My dark little corner of everyone’s favorite school newspaper. Well fellow student, today I have quite the tale for you. I think we all remember that fateful day when Trixie Kingsley was so viciously mistreated by one Owen Lyon, or as many of you know him now, The Cowardly Lyon. What if I told you, Owen Lyon never did a damn thing. Let me weave you a tale, one that starts with a long forgotten name. Jennifer Hart, or as I’m told she goes by now, Quincy.

See, you may remember that Jennifer got on Hailey’s bad side. She said some things, did some things, and made an enemy of our most righteous Queen Green. What you may not know, is that Owen Lyon stepped in, told Hailey off, and as a result, made a very powerful enemy in the form of a little brunette Hailstorm.

Now, by now, I’m sure you’re saying, “Jamie, how does this relate to Owen cheating on Trixie?” Well, hold on, I’m getting there.

Hailey, upset at Owen and sensing unrest in her kingdom, employs her favorite little Sweet Tart. Emphasis on the ‘tart.’ Ophelia Brycen. Hailey wanted Owen gone, and she used Ophelia to do it. Hailey may have planted the seeds, but Ophelia watered them. She made Trixie believe that Owen was wavering, that he had some Oedipus complex, that he was unhappy with her body! That wasn’t enough though. Ophelia needed more. So, she got it. We all saw the pictures, right? Well, I hate to break it to you all, but that spicy blonde is none other than Rose Powers, Owen’s cousin. Now, folks, Owen is many things, but incestuous? Come on, that’s too much even for this school.

So what does this all mean? It means that Hailey Green did what we all knew she was capable of, and Ophelia Brycen did what she and her Candies have sworn to never do. They worked against love. Now, I leave you all with this question; if Hailey and Ophelia could do that to their best friend, why wouldn’t they do it to each and every one of us?

It was an intense piece, and built entirely on the testimony of Trixie, but luckily, gossip wasn’t exactly an evidence based science. Well, it really wasn’t a science at all. Looking over his work one last time, Jamie printed the piece, and grinned as the whirring of gears and ink cartridges filled the room. This was going to be big. He knew he was taking a risk with this story, but with great risk came great reward. Besides, he could never just sit on this. Sooner or later, people would find out, and Jamie knew he’d never forgive himself if he wasn’t the one to break it. Tomorrow, everyone would read about what Hailey had done. This was going to make him enemies, but that was alright. The pen was always mightier than the sword.

Laurel Evanson's morning practice.
Location: Excel Gymnastics
Mentions: Mason Aspen @Universorum

As most mornings went, Laurel’s feet treaded lightly and nimbly across the cushioned ground as she practiced her floor routine. Competition season was every season, and thus it was important to maintain peak physical and mental shape to compete. This meant coming into the Excel Gym at the ass crack of dawn every morning. The alcohol that Laurel had drank the evening previous seeped out of her perspiring pores; the dizziness overtaking her head due to her activities on the yacht and not the activities in the gym. Last night was an adventure to say the least- from losing her clothes to gaining a new male friend, it was definitely one for the books. As much as Laur loathed the Helmsley’s, they definitely knew how to stock a liquor cabinet.

Refocusing her mind from the booze, she let her attention shift to the floor. She was at the end of her morning workout, and it was important for her to make this last pass count. Prepping in the corner of the pad, Laurel took a deep breath before breaking into a sprint, propelling herself from the ground into her tumbling. It was a complicated pass, but one she had learned so well that she could do it in her sleep. Round off one and a half step out, Back handspring, Arabian, Punch layout.

Exhaling deeply as all of her weight hit the floor once more, she swiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. Laur was good, quite good, but needed to clean up her act in order to pull away from her rivals. Gymnastics was everything to her, and she couldn’t let anything or anyone get in the way of that. That was her main fear in letting herself have a good time, and she was worried that things would get carried away with the drinking, partying, and fraternizing. With a quick glance to the clock, the blonde knew it was time to get going for school. The late start meant she got a little bit of extra sleep, but she had taken it more as extra time in the gym. There were no days off. Ever. Meandering over to the locker room, Laur grabbed her things and headed to one of the showers, desperately needing to cleanse herself of the workout.

As the hot water hit her face, she couldn’t help but let her mind drift to Mason. He truly was the highlight of her evening, from being kind and lending her his jacket to taking her breath away in the front seat of his car. She still had the jacket; it was sitting in her locker and ready to be returned. But did she really want to give it back? Laurel knew this was another excuse to see him, but would he vanish for good after she returned what was his? Only time would tell. Scrubbing her roots with shampoo, she continued to bathe and prepare herself for the day ahead.

Climbing out of the shower, the blonde dried herself off and let her terry cloth towel drop to the ground, bundling around her ankles. Laur felt comfortable in her skin, hence why she had joined that horrid game of Strip Poker, but something about running into Mason during homeroom made her hairs stand up on end. Slipping on a pair of leggings and a flannel shirt and donning the brunette’s jacket as a trophy, she gathered her things and began the journey towards BHHS. It was another day, and another opportunity to refocus, but she knew in the back of her mind that her focus was definitely gone and on vacation.

Stupid cars. Why did they have to be such a bother to fix? Today Ellie had the opportunity to drive a classic car, which just so happened to be a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. The car geek didn’t know what she was expecting with a car that was over seventy years old, but there she was on the side of the street trying everything she could to get it running.

It was running just fine when Ellie had met up with Brianna for breakfast, but afterwards was an entirely different story. As soon as she left the parking lot, the car started having its obligatory problems. Obviously, there were going to be problems with a car nearly as old as her grandfather, but none of this magnitude was expected, but yet there it was.

Stopping at a stoplight, the big ol’ V8 was rumbling the car. That was also normal, but what wasn’t normal was the smell that started to come out of the car shortly afterwards. Uh oh. That wasn’t a good smell either. The light turned green and Ellie pushed the clutch in to shift into the first gear to get herself moving. Upon moving the gear lever, she could feel the gears crunching and grinding. Was the clutch also gone?

Once the car geek pushed on the gas pedal, a plume of white-ish smoke had come from the exhaust. Already, Ellie could tell what was happening to the car. She had been lead to believe that the car was in tip-top shape. She had been deceived! Whoever was responsible for maintaining this car had done an incredibly poor job. Ellie was going to have to give them an earful about the principles of basic car maintenance. The car was shitting itself in front of her eyes! She had to pull over immediately. People already weren’t happy that the car was spitting some flames, even though it was doing a better job at doing so than Yung Steve.

Being careful, Ellie pulled over to the side. This was Los Angeles, so it was more treacherous than it had any right to be. Once she got settled to the side, Ellie shut the car off and opened the hood to see what in Sam Hill had caused the car to start behaving this way. Opening the hood, the engine bay was exposed and so was another cloud of ominous smoke. Coughing and waving it from her face, Ellie soon was met with a rather unsightly image.

”You’ve got to be fucking kidding…”

There was oil all over the place, which explained the other funky smell that Ellie had smelled earlier. It was just burning oil. Taking a closer look, it was clear that Ellie couldn’t identify the issue without compromising her safety. There was so much oil that the most vital parts were covered in it. Sighing, she put her hands on her hips. There wasn’t much she could do right now.

Ellie had too much pride in the world to even consider calling for a tow truck. The last thing she needed was some fuck lecturing her on how women shouldn’t be driving cars like these, even though she more than likely knew more than him. She was tutting around, pacing to think up of solutions she could fashion by herself with the materials that she had.

The hapa couldn’t think of a solution. Nobody could. No tools that could fit in the trunk of the Chevelle could fix what Ellie was dealing with. There was the oil all over the place, what smelled like a burnt head gasket, as well as the clutch that had decided to go full Kurt Cobain at the worst of times. Ellie was frustrated, not so much at the original owner for being so shit at maintenance, but at herself for being so stupid with it and not making sure the car was okay.

But then again, maybe she just had some shitty luck today. What else could happen today? Maybe someone she didn’t want to see would pull up. That would’ve just been the icing on top of the shit sundae that was her day. It started fairly okay, but from there on it’d gone downhill extremely quickly.

Suddenly, a certain world famous rapper had pulled up in his little convertible. ”Ay… aren’t you that one girl from the diner?”

”Yeah… aren’t you that one rapper?”

”Yep.”

”Oh. Hey, can you give me a lift to the nearest auto parts store? I’ll pay you for gas money, I promise!”

Yung Steve thought for a second, well at least it looked like he did. He was looking up in the corner like he was JD from Scrubs.

”Nah. You dissed my shit earlier, now imma diss you. Peace!”

With that, Yung Steve floored it and squeezed out all 134 horsepower of his Mini Cooper, peeling off and leaving Ellie in his dust. Yung Steve didn't fuck with people who dissed him. As fucked up as it was, ignoring the haters was how you persevered in this business. No time for the haters!

So much for having a good rapport with people. Guess Ellie was going to have to call a tow truck after all. She was loathing the inevitable lecture she was going to be getting from the tow truck man.

Still on the boat...
Mentions of Bailee & Jamie

@Melissa@smarty0114

Late starts are supposed to be when you sleep in, right? Usually, AJ would utilize the shit out of this opportunity to miss school, even if it was simply for a couple of hours. Sleep until there was only ten minutes to get to homeroom and make it with one minute to spare. But nah man. Not this time. For some reason he could not sleep. Was it because he felt guilty about sending Cece a fake? A picture showing that he fucked Bailee when he did not fuck Bailee. The world was cruel and constantly presented challenges that involved girls fucking with him or Jamie, well, existing.

Such was life for AJ Tyler.

Still in a bedroom on the boat, lying on the floor, shirtless, having taken one pillow away from Bails for his own use, AJ's face stood planted in the cushion, attempting to suffocate himself to sleep. Was it even night anymore? Squinting his eyes closed, his consciousness focused on the rhythm of his breathing. He tossed from one side to the other. Twice around. One more time. Subsequently, this rewarded the floor with a boy rolling on it until he was away from the pillow, closer to the edge of the bed, and doing sit ups.

One. Two. Three.
On one hand, Cece thinks you got game.

Four. Five. Six.
On the other hand, this could blow up in your face. Yeah, sure, just another point in the game, but like... I got a bad feeling about this.

Seven. Eight. Nine.
I don't like when I have bad feelings. Bad feelings is like when Jamie dumped your ass. Fuck man, why am I thinking about that?

Ten. Eleven. Twelve.
Because you still love him, you stupid fucker. Another one.

Thirteen. Fourteen. Fifth...
Do you, though? Or do you just miss the idea of being with him?

AJ stopped in mid sit up when he asked himself those questions, completely dumbfounded at how to answer. Why did his mind always take a detour to the same dead end? First, he was thinking about how terrible he's been towards a childhood friend whose got a stick so far up her ass — it drives him insane. That somehow led to him contemplating the cobwebs that he's entangled in which are woven by Miss Cecily H-L. That devious bitch. But time and time again, he always ends up at the same dead end. Thinking about his ex.

Fucking Jamie.

As if this night or morning, whatever fucking time it was, wasn't forgiving enough, AJ's phone began to vibrate, the light blaring and the sound of it moving on the nightstand being unnecessarily loud. Hurriedly, AJ flew up and swiped his phone off the stand, silencing it. Glancing over to the bed, he surveyed Bailee. Her breathing was subtle and there was no visible rustling, which hopefully meant she was still sleeping. Deeply sighing in relief, he peered down to the blinding light that was his phone. First he noticed the time. Ah, it was 8am. Second, he noticed who was calling. He grumbled to himself, "What does she want?"

Shuffling outside, he unlocked the door and then propped it open. The chill of the morning slipped into the bedroom. After mentally prepping himself, he flipped his phone open, placed it on his ear, and walked down the hall, "You must miss me because this is the most we've talked in days."

"Why wouldn't I? You're one of my best friends, sugar."

"Ew, don't call me that. You know I hate that." Sluggishly, AJ made his way to the end of the boat where he could see the shoreline, the city, and the morning light. She wanted something. Cece never called him without getting something out of it. "I did what you said. What more do you want?"

"Oh baby, such a bark. You need breakfast and then after breakfast you need second breakfast!"

"Cut the shit." He did not get enough sleep for this bull. What did she want? SAY YOUR PEACE, WOMAN.

"First thank me and then I'll tell you what I've done." Oh no, she's done something. What did she do? Is this going to ruin your life? It's probably going to ruin your life. "You better not be thinking this is going to ruin you, it's not."

"Okay... I guess... thank you for...?"

"Setting you up with my cousin!" AJ's reaction was almost instantaneously.

"WHAT THE FUCK?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?? IS THIS A SICK JOKE?! For real, stop playing."

"Oh stop being a damn child. You're looking at this completely wrong. You see, my dear, dear AJ. I know you. I know you better than nearly anyone in your life, maybe besides Scott, your gay lover. Anyways, what I did for you was a favor. Because I know you want Jamie back. Correct?"

"And how does me—"

"Correct." This bitch was cutting him off. "So, I simply told Auntie that you and BB were a thing. Do you know what that does for you?" Why was she his friend again? AJ was seriously questioning his life right now.

"Get me trapped?"

"No, stupid. It makes you desirable. You're no longer on the market, sweet cheeks. And neither is Jamie—"

"WHAT?!"

"Jesus, just look at your snaps. ANYWAYS, like I was saying, you're no longer 'sleeping around' which means Jamie won't be use to you not following him like a puppy. What makes this even more realistic is you and Bailee grew up with each other, so it's only natural romance could stem from that. I doubt Jamie is over you. If he was, he wouldn't have tongued you back in the hallway, so take this as a gift. Bailee will probably be hearing from her mother sooner or later. Tell her to call me when she gets the chance."

"Wait... isn't this wrong?"

"Only if you think it is." Click.

Dumbfounded. AJ was completely shocked at this new turn of events. Cece was no longer playing a childish game of who can have the longest fuck list. No, she was meddling in his love life and he kind of... liked it? Was that wrong? His left hand, which held his phone, dropped to the side, as he stared into space for a good minute or two, before deciding it was time to wake up his friend... girlfriend... friend.... girl.

Two collabs with @Lovely Complex
Stella & Lee, at night, after boat party
Jasmine & Hyde, the morning after, at school

The magic moment had extended far beyond that of their first meeting. A purple hue hung over them like a John Hughes movie from 1984: the princess and the hustler. They write fairy tales about this shit. Lee held her close, it felt natural like he had been doing it all his life. The opposite was true of course, the Wall Street baby had kept the world at an arm's length since before he could remember. Stella; she said her name was Stella. The lightness of her touch on his body sent electricity through his veins like a bolt of lightning, something new to replace the venom that had always been there.

There was a pain in his gut, akin to a stomach cramp. Most would put it down to some dodgy shrimp but the dog eyed ex football star knew better. The pain was reality check, a reminder of a simple fact of life; Lee McCarthy was not like most boys his age. He wasn’t like most boys at all. He wasn’t longed for this world, her world. He couldn’t let that stop him. Not this time. Now was the time to be greedy, just like daddy always said. Greed is good. Greed for love.

“Do you ever think about, like, if something changed in your story, how life would be?” Stella’s buzz had mellowed out, as both her and her newfound love interest walked to the exit of the boat. Maybe they could spend a little more time walking on the beach and listening to the gentle current… that would be wonderful, wouldn’t you think?

"All the time. There are a few things that have happened in my life that I’d probably wish were different” His response was pretty standard by all means, however Lee of course swelled on the thought for a little bit longer. He thought on about how his life would be different if he didn’t have Huntington’s. He thought on how different his life would be if he had kept his focus on football or even if he hadn’t had bothered with athletics and stuck with academics.

Luna had texted her earlier saying arrangements were made for a family servant to pick her up, since Lu would be going home separately (that honestly came to Stella as a surprise). Stella, however, cancelled those arrangements so she could spend more time with Leighton. Truthfully, she was thankful and relieved for this sudden, unexpected freedom. True, blissful freedom, where she was in the seventh heaven with this mysterious boy she hardly knew that swooped her off her feet. This was her chance! To finally get a boyfriend without her twin scaring them away!

Did Stella think about anything passed this? Like how she was actually getting home? Nope! Daddy knew she and Lu were okay, and enjoying themselves, and that was all that mattered. Honestly, her parents were probably happy that the twins were expanding from their beauty school friend group. “I don’t know how I’d feel if I didn’t have my twin. Or my parents. Or my other family. I’m so very fortunate, but I do wonder if I listened to daddy and went to your school, instead of Beauty, how things would be. Would I like something that isn’t making people feel beautiful?” Taking a moment to acknowledge the person by the door, Stel waved goodbye and brightly gleamed at the stranger, “Tell Brian and his sisters they did an amazing job! Best party of the year.” At least for her. Grabbing onto Lee’s arm, she let him lead the way.

"Let me tell you a little bit on how I personally see the world…” Leighton covered her warm hand with his own as they descended into the moonlit beach. "Life is pretty much a game of chance. We can’t predict what hand we’re going to be dealt. We can never know what the future holds and we shouldn’t regret the past. What’s done is done, all we can do is react and adapt. Right now, I would much prefer if you went to my school, that way I could see your beautiful face every damn day.”

His words caused a rewarding blush from his princess. For a moment, she looked away, embarrassed of the blooming colour on her cheeks. He made her feel tingly on the inside. This feeling was new, different, and unpredictable. It made her feel awkward and coy, yet she wanted him to say more pleasant things about her. She liked being this embarrassed. It felt like he could talk for hours and she’d never grow tired of him. One thing that would replay in her head for the rest of the night was him saying he wanted to see her beautiful face everyday. He said she was beautiful... he wanted her everyday…

He walked her towards the water, it was a warm, wonderful night and he really didn’t want it to end any time soon. "Life is a game, like I said. You just have to know how to play it and luckily for you, I’m very good at winning” Leighton’s eyes never really left Stella’s face much at all, the Hollywood hustler was completely and utterly enamoured. "Chance is the best thing in the world, it’s unbiased, it’s fair and it led me to you tonight”

“Chance?” Stella raised an eyebrow, intrigued by how he perceived life. It was different from how she saw it. Games came and went. They were fleeting to her. Honestly, if she saw life as game, she’d look at it in a different lense. She’d focus on the time spent with loved ones, not something to play to win. No one could predict tomorrow, so it was about making the most of today.

Her attention went from his eyes to the sea. Her blonde strands gently moving with the wind. “I see life more like the… ocean. Sometimes it’s like this. Calm, still, peaceful. Other times, it can be rough. Hard to bare. Both memorable though, because it’s our life! But in the end?” She turned herself towards him, gliding her hands up his chest and around his neck, interlocking her fingers and holding onto him with dear love, “Always beautiful.” Because of people like you, Lee.

"None of that beauty compares to you” That magic moment had come again as her hands gently caressed his chest and neck. He wrapped one arm around her petite frame and the other became entangled in her silky blonde hair as he pulled the beauty school knockout into his embrace. As Stella’s lips met his, Lee felt a surge of electricity course through his body. Had he just been struck by a bolt of lightning? He pulled away slowly, noses grazing and a lingering gaze into those heartbreaking eyes.

"You have to know, Stella. I’m the prince of nothing charming”

“Shuush.” Lovingly and playfully, she rubbed her nose against his. Her gentle stare never wavering from his warm, light brown eyes, “Who says I want anything more?” Stella couldn’t explain this feeling. She didn’t need him to sell her reasons to be with him, she didn’t need him to convince her his worth, she didn’t need him to be afraid to… be with her. She wanted him, he wanted her. Wasn’t that enough?

To comfort him and remind him from this day onward, she was his, she went back for a kiss, held him tightly, possessively, so he wouldn’t pull away. Letting the kiss last longer than the one before, Stella allowed him to feel the warmth against his body, intentionally breaking all barriers. The kiss was intimate, nearly sexual, her mouth slightly ajared. His scent flooded her senses. They were like two puzzle pieces connecting.

Love at first sight was real, at least for them.

After what seemed like forever, this time, she pulled away and whispered, “I want to spend the night with you.”

"That can be arranged”

She was intoxicating. Lee wasn’t the biggest drug user in the world but kissing Stella was like a hit from the most addictive substance of them all, he wanted more, more than he could probably handle. He kissed her again, pulling her close as the light breeze blew around them, like nature’s whisper telling them what they were doing was right.

One cab ride later and Lee had brought his new love to the McCarthy house of wealth and horror. Best described in one word, Leightons home was sterile. Pristine white and perfectly polished metal stainless steel surfaces. It was more like a hospital than a home. Of course this was by design, Simon McCarthy hated mess, untidiness and general slobbishness like a dog hates a bath. Honestly, in a house like this, it made sense why people refer to Lee as the American Psycho.

"This way” Interlocking their fingers together, he lead her up the stairs quietly and into his bedroom. Lee’s room was as perfectly formed as the rest of the house, there was very little mess anywhere. Work out equipment in one corner, the dogs bed in the other. A desk and mirror with his grooming routine. Conspicuous by its presence however was a windowsill of medications. Lee placed himself as a door between Stella and that view, she didn’t need to see those just yet. He traced his finger down her arm, her skin shining like crystalline. His fingers moved to her toned stomach and his lips moved closer to hers. "Are you sure?

Focused on him and nothing but him, not once considering exploring his bedroom (yet) or his house (yet), she turned her body around and placed her blonde hair over her shoulders so that her dress zipper was visible to him. She didn’t say anything back. From this point on she’d let her body do the talking. If only Lee knew who she was the daughter of, who she was connected to. After this night, he would surely find out. It was only a matter of time. To claim a daughter of Bartimaeus Locke’s, a man of two families, especially one of his pure ones... was binding.

Fortunately for Lee, Stella had more lenient parents than her half siblings, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is still one of the virgins. The other being Cyndi Green. Stella was a true maiden and princess. A bright, unfading star. Someone whose white has not been tainted.

She was in love, for better or for worse. With a hustler.

Not too different from her father, if you ask me.

He did not say another word as he slipped her zipper down and gently dropped her crimson red dress from her shoulders. Lee ran his hands down her soft to fingertip arms as he lovingly kissed her necks. It would be at this point normally that he would take what he wanted but with Stella it was different, she was giving herself to him. He turned her and their lips met electric once again as she stripped him of his Versace armour.

The lovers made their way to the bed. The time for talking was done. The night was dark but full of love.

Tell me why we’re talking when we dance so good

The fire in his head was slowly dying. The night had been long and eventful. Hyde raised his hand up to touch the crusty dried blood on his face and he scratched some of the surface stain away. He had to get off that boat, being around all those filthy damn rich kids was making his damn blood boil. Fortunately for Hyde, as he departed the boat, he crossed paths with a few undesirables that he could vent some of his frustrations on.

The dull ache in his torn up hands was fading with the rising sun that peered like a voyeur into his dimly lit life and home. Who needed sleep? Cameron Hyde certainly didn’t. Monster and violence was all he needed to keep him going. In the dark corner of the room where Hyde had situated himself, the only light to penetrate the darkness was the phone switching on to notify the dark passenger of an incoming message. He reached over to pick it up and read it. The night was dark and full of terrors, in this case so was the morning.

While the entirety of her school was on a boat for the majority of the night, the outspoken activist named after a flower spent her evening away working the snack stand at the local theater. The next morning she helped her mama make food for the army that was her Cheaper by the Dozen family. Once she finished her morning chores, she dismissed herself earlier than usual, heading to school before everyone else would get there. They had a late start, after all. So really, she was going to school ‘on time’.

Spending her night behind a stand gave her plenty of time to follow everyone’s snapchat stories, twitter pages, and Facebook statuses. After a night like that, she decided the school’s monthly charity bake sale was scheduled at a perfect time.

What a coincidence.

This was a time when everyone could use something sweet and delightful. Whether it was a celebration for new kindled romances, the biggest one going down the grapevine was Jamie and Marshall’s, or feel better sweets for heartbreak and crashing friendships.

Did you see how Ophelia and Trixie were acting?

What happened in the bathroom?! I saw Trixie leave before Ophelia... and then she almost threw herself off board!

Nothing good comes from being Hailey's friend.

Jamie is #thesavior and as a reward he got laid.

GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Riley can get behind that. Ha.

Yo, Riley went fucking nuts. Whatever he was on, give me some of that.

He just needs the D.

Joy gets the D. The Damian D.

But the tag that gained the most likes and shares:

HOTisDead.

Here Jasmine Fulton was making sure she and those in Home Ec had prepared enough goodies yesterday. She who always ornamented her natural attributes with colors, in this case black, white, and pink, to emphasize the shading of her flesh. Jasmine was an understated beauty and her classmates labeled her since year one as a ‘bad girl’ because of the style she preferred. She was that stereotype, a rebel without a cause, like that boy Lucky was, but in this case, she was a slut too! Funny how that works, right?

Sure, she showed skin, but that didn’t mean she screwed every guy she saw and even if she did, it was no one’s business but her own. She was proud of her body and she’d own it. Jasmine was not afraid to display the form that she worked hard to keep. The form that her mama gave her. No, she wasn’t a slut. No, she did not kick doors down like some anger ridden kid. And no, she was not a girl that would play dumb to get in someone’s pants. She was just a sweet, little unforgettable thing and even if men specifically praised parts of her endlessly. Her legs, her ass, her neck, her breasts… that didn’t determine her worth. If anything, she was part of the movement of women empowerment.

As she did inventory of the sweets in and out the fridge, she smiled to herself. She loved this. And she would love seeing the satisfaction of her fellow colleagues’ faces when they tried any of these delectables. This was a visual representation of hard work and human emotions. Jolie had a crush for god who knows how long, so her cupcakes probably had a hint of desire, Nolan’s been having a hard time at home, so his cookies had a little escapism in them, and her cake… a loud gasp escaped the girl’s lips. Tugging at the ends of her pink highlighted hair, she looked at the giant hand mark in her CAKE. Sure, she made a bunch of other stuff too, but still! This cake was the one she was most proud about. She’d have to get to the bottom of this. They could’ve cut it at least… like a decent human being.

Cameron arrived at Beverly Hills High School shortly before the first class of the day. He certainly wasn’t a student there, so sitting in the parking lot that was nicer than his house was really his only option. His grip on the steering wheel tightened as his cold baby blues methodically scanned the influx of students entering the hallowed BHHS halls. He had a very specific job in mind and a very specific way to do it. Hyde glanced slightly over to his passenger seat and the hammer that sat there. He reached down and took hold of the tool. There, outside the Home EC window, Dylan Watson, he owed the wrong people a lot of money for drugs. It was time to collect. Cam hung the hammer from his belt and climbed out of his car. "WATSON! We need to have a confab my friend”

After her moment of panic, Jasmine glanced up from the table and watched a scene unfold. She saw a boy cower in front of her as she squinted to see the angry figure coming closer, and closer, to the building. Before she got involved in something that may not be as bad as it seems, she decided to grab two eggs out the fridge, leave the room, and exit the side door. Making sure her steps were quiet, she went to the corner of the building and poked her head to get a better view of the boys. She wasn’t too sure what was going on… her mama told her to not be impulsive and intervene, unless she was 100 percent sure something bad was going to happen.

Oh it was Dylan from woodshop.

Hyde pinned the young man against the wall with one hand. He knew he was strong, very strong. The redness quickly forming around Dylan’s neck was an obvious tell. “I’m glad we finally ran into each other. You owe me for all that weed. You’ve owed me for about a month now. Do you have the money?” the lack of sound coming from the kids mouth was enough to warrant a tighter squeeze from Hyde’s hand around his neck and a stronger grip on the hammer in his other hand. "Well then, guess I better take something as collateral. How about that nice Rolex you have on? And maybe...a few teeth” Cameron raises his hammer up and as he prepared to bring it down, the unmistakable sound of a smashing egg punctured the red mist that had descended. He glanced at his arm which was now drenched in egg yolk. "What the fuck?

“Hey dumbass, look.” She pointed to one of the few surveillance cameras planted around the school. “You picked the perfect place to do business!” She sarcastically cracked a smile, all the while bouncing the second egg in her hand. She took a step forward and gave him a challenging stare, “You don’t go here, do you? If you did, you would know our zero tolerance policy. Doesn’t matter if it’s intentional or not, you get violent, you get punished.”

Glancing over to the victim then back to the dark passenger, she shrugged, “That’s a nice car you have, with a very distinct license plate. Your looks are quite definable too. I’m sure the police would have no trouble at all finding you.” Unlike the general populace of her school, Jasmine was not rich and her looks gave off the vibe that she should be a kindred spirit to someone like Hyde, but she wasn’t. She chose to be better than the cards dealt to her. Fortunately for the victim in this situation, she had her brother’s number on speed dial. Her brother who was a cop. BUT, she didn’t think she needed to resort to that.

Was she scared of him? No. A man to fear was someone who didn’t need a hammer and senseless threats. In her eyes, she was dealing with a child that rarely gets his way unless he screams for it. Jasmine had no time to deal with blood on her window, while she fixed her cake. She may be intruding but she wasn’t siding with the ‘victim’ either. She wasn’t dumb and knew he got involved in something he shouldn’t have, but she’d go against everything she stood for if she let this happen right here, right now, on school grounds.

Sex on legs was right. Hyde had to be smart here. He wasn’t a student, he wasn’t even meant to be anywhere near the premises and he was on candid camera. He knew her in passing, Jasmine Fulton. He didn’t know a lot, other than she liked to dress like a biker but from first glance he knew there was something more to her, what, he wasn’t yet sure but time would tell.

Hyde lunged forward and head butted Dylan straight in the nose and the blood began to pour. He reached into the boy’s jacket and pulled out his wallet, taking what little money was in there before turning to Jasmine. "This little prick owes me a lot of money. I’ll get it one way or another” He took the money he had taken from Dylan’s wallet and shoved it down the front of her top. "For the damages” He smiles and almost angelic smile as he pointed to his own temple. "We ain’t done” He said looking at Dylan before returning his attention to the dark skinned beauty before him. "And me and you are just getting started”

Her eyes said it all. She was extremely disinterested in him. Bored and thought what she was looking at was a complete joke. Jasmine didn’t have to say anything to give off the vibe that she could care less about this idiot. He simply needed to get off school grounds, because this school had enough going on. They didn’t need a thug like him to add to the already bad reputation of BHHS. “You’re talking to me like I actually care about your business. I don’t.” She took the money out of her cleavage and threw it on the ground in front of him, “Treat yourself, you need it more.” Before he could respond, the school bell went off.

By pure dumb luck a car did park close to them with that DJ kid and his little sister, which was a good incentive to diffuse the situation, knowing Jax would foolishly intervene. “I just wanted to thank you, though.” She teasingly smiled and casually backed away, “For really giving my boobs the attention they deserved.”

Unexpectedly, Dylan, bloody face and all, tossed Jasmine a wallet, Hyde’s wallet, which he had pickpocketed the moment Hyde turned his attention to the dangerous babe. She caught it with her free hand (the right one). “I think this is a fair trade. A wallet for a wallet, hey? You shouldn’t underestimate the people you do business with. Isn’t that right, Dyl?” The kid who was cowering moments before was already gone.

With an impish smirk, she tossed the last egg for the bad boy to catch, mocking his words, but adding her own spin to it, “For your ego.”

Before dismissing herself, “I’ll see you later—” She peered into his wallet and read outloud, “—Cameron Hyde.” and then turned on her heel, prancing off towards Jax and Honey, who were walking from their car to the side door she came out of, “Hey guys, wait up!” When the siblings turned their attention to the warm, melting chocolate voice, Honey cheesing and waving wildly, Jasmine tossed Hyde’s wallet into the trash and hooked her arms on both their arms.

Not once did she have to get violent or even call her older brother.

“Who’s that?” Jax inquired, with concern written on his face.

“...a neighbor.” Jasmine lied, knowing Jax would not be okay to hear she was involved with something violent.

“Jasmineeeeeeee. Today is the bake sale, right? I have a big, fat headache and think cake will help make it better!” Honey whined, not liking how sick she felt.

“I’ll make sure there’s plenty of cake just for you.” Jasmine sweetly answered, forgetting Hyde just as fast as she met him.

Really, though, only she would’ve known Dylan knew how to pickpocket. Why you ask? Because she taught him. She sucked at woodshop. It was only a fair trade.

A @smarty0114 & @Universorum collab
Featuring: Katie Callaghan & Scott Lyon
Location: The Hallway, Wednesday Morning

Katie and Noah went their separate ways once inside the high school, Noah mentioning something about an art project he had to go attend to. In all honesty, she wasn’t paying that much attention. Her life it seemed, had been turned on its head.

Last night had been weird. Her entire interaction with Scott had been weird, and then, as if the universe was taunting her, she’d had that even weirder dream. No. Nightmare. As she made her way upstream through the constant flow of her fellow students, her mind wandered, far too distracted by a certain Gearhead to focus on anything else. No. Not a certain Gearhead. Math. She was thinking about math, and that was her final answer.

Unfortunately for Katie, she wasn’t going to be able to think about Math for much longer, because her locker was blocked by a certain Gearhead. “Katie, we need to talk.” Scott Lyon. The last person that she wanted to see, on the planet, was parked in front of her locker. With none of his friends flanking him, Scott had came alone — and hopefully had come in peace. “Can we talk? Like, privately.”

Katie stood there, stunned into silence. Holy shit. This was happening, just like her dream. Talk privately? No. No, no, no. She would be doing no such thing. Her mouth opening and closing a few times while she struggled to find her voice, she finally managed to shout a response. “Nope! I am super, super busy! Sorry!” she said, much louder than she’d been expecting, drawing a few confused looks from her classmates. She turned on her heel, fast walking away from her locker, praying to whatever deity was taunting her that she had beaten out fate, that she wasn’t psychic and destined to make out with Scott Fucking Lyon.

Wait, no. This was important, why was he acting like this? Scott was quick to move after her, even putting a hand on her shoulder. “Katie, hold up. It’s important.” Scott called out before adding. “Look, I promise it won’t be weird. Nothing like…” his words trailed off as he followed her into the crowd; hoping she’d catch the reference to the night before without making him say it aloud. In public.

Katie flinched at his touch, not because she didn’t like it, but because she was afraid that she might. Taking a deep breath, she turned around to face him, looking into his eyes for half a second and nodding. She glanced around the hall, saw an empty classroom, remembered her dream, and picked the janitor’s closet instead, opening the door and pulling Scott into the dimly lit room behind her. “Okay. What is it?” she demanded, folding her arms across her chest and looking up at him.

Man this shit wasn’t fair. Scott thought as he caught himself staring at Katie for a few seconds too long. When did she get pretty? Even in dim light, she was pretty. In fact, Scott had to exercise self control, to keep himself from blurting it out. Instead, he took a deep breath, and tried to let her down gently. “I think we should…” There was a pause here, as he tried to think about how best to word what it was that he wanted to say.

“Stop? You know, like…. stop. Just stop. Never talk to each other again, no arguing, no screaming. No looking. No awkward. Just… stop.” There. That got what he wanted out, and did so smoothly; at least he thought so. “I think we’re wasting too much of our life screaming at each other. Is it even… I dunno, worth it?”

Holy shit. She wasn’t psychic. Thank God! He didn’t want to talk to her! Ever! This was great! She could just snip all the confusing feelings before they even had the chance to bloom. This was amazing. “I agree. Totally,” she said, nodding enthusiastically. They stood there, staring awkwardly around the closet, neither sure of how to go about this, until finally, Katie reached for the door. “I’ll...see you around,” she said awkwardly, before heading out of the small room, and back into the flow of students, off to class.

Fantastic. Wonderful. It was done. Scott could quit the chess club, cut off all ties to anyone that could possibly lead him into awkward situations involving her, and move on with his life. As he watched her walk out of the closet, Scott was left wondering one thing: why the fuck did he feel so empty now? After giving her a few moments to get to where she was going, Scott stepped out as well. The deed was done, and now he could go about his day.

He should have went with Plan B: Kiss her.

Location: Captain Cuddles
Featuring: Kit “I’m Not Depressed” Thomas and Ty “I’m Not Johnny” Locke
Time: Wednesday Evening

Kathryn was depressed. In fact, she had hit a valley so low that she was thinking of herself in her head as ‘Kathryn’ instead of ‘Kit.’ She didn’t know what happened, but she had a feeling this was a combination of the feelings overload she’d had at the party, and the puberty her mother had always warned her about. She was getting to be that age, unfortunately.

She honestly had no real idea why she was feeling all sad! She’d had a good day. She spent time with Min-seo, she gave a girl her number, she arranged a playdate with the one and only Vanilla Sunrise, talked to Hailey Green — who seemed to like her, joined a new club with Min-seo, and she’d even met Min’s boyfriend! What was the big deal!?

She couldn’t think of any solution to her problem; not really, so she’d done really the only natural thing. After the Doc had picked her up after school, Kit wanted pizza. She’d made him drop her off at Captain Cuddles (she’d only ever had takeout from there, but she’d heard it had a SWEET arcade!), where she would spend a couple of hours until she got bored, sick, or full. Whichever came first.

“Get me another root beer float, Johnny. And make it a tall one,” Kit called out down the bar toward the person behind it. The man looked down at the young girl, and shook his head as he walked over to her — no root beer in hand. With a wide sweeping gesture at the four mugs in front of her, frosted glasses that were empty, save for some frothy ice cream and root beer at the bottom, the barkeep spoke.

“I think you’ve had enough. You’re gonna get sick and, like throw up all over my counters, yo. And for the last time — my name ain’t Johnny. It’s Ty.” Kit scowled at this, but she had to admit; he had a point. If she wanted room for pizza and stuff, she should probably cool it with the tall root beer floats. The adult behind the counter shook his head, as he reached underneath the counter. “Here, kid. It’s on the house. You look like you’ve had a rough day.” He said, holding out a $10 roll of 40 quarters. Kit stared at him, and slowly reached out and took the quarters, before Ty added. “Actually, you look like you might have had a bad week.”

“Shaddappp. I look just fine, thank you very much. My hair is purple! And it’s beautiful!” Kit protested, but she accepted the offered coins and slid back away from the countertop. With one sad look at the root beer tap, and one that lasted longer as she gazed at the soft serve machine, Kit stepped away from the bar, “are you cutting me off from pizza? Cuz, like, I paid for the buffet…” Ty shook his head ‘no,’ but sighed as he did so.

Kit seemed to accept this without much complaint, headed over to the pizza buffet and eyed the selection. “Man, you guys suck on Wednesdays. Ya wanna know why I look upset?! Two regular ass cheese pizzas in the buffet is why I look upset!” Kit grumbled, but she ultimately grabbed two thick, heavy, greasy slices of cheesy goodness from the pan, and threw them onto a plate. Briefly, Kit considered a salad to go along with her pizza. They had a whole salad bar! After a few moments of careful contemplation, she did grab a salad bowl.

A salad bowl which she quickly filled with a few more slices of pizza.

Who the heck went to a pizza buffet to eat salad?

Kit then turned her attention to the plan for the rest of the night: the row of arcade machines. Okay, it was a small row. She thought it would be better than this! This place touted itself as an arcade, for fuck’s sake! She saw… what? A Ms. Pac-Man machine, a Street Fighter: Third Strike (okay, she’d yield there. Third Strike was solid) machine, and… Tron? Was that Tron? Whatever.

Grumbling as she carried her pizza over to the machines on display in the room, and sat her pizza containers down on a nearby table. Carrying one piece with her, she took a bite and stepped in front of the Third Strike machine. She smacked the coin roll on the edge of the machine to pop it open, and pulled out two quarters, putting them into the slot. She hit the player one button, and the machine informed her that she didn’t have enough quarters in. Taken aback, Kit squinted.

“Dude, why does your Third Strike cabinet take three quarters? That’s highway robbery! It’s friggin’ Street Fighter, you butthole! I swear, if the Pac-Man one takes more than two, we are gonna have words. Kit lifted up the pizza to her mouth for another bite with one hand, tearing off the delicious cheese before she reluctantly dropped another quarter into the waiting machine, and hit the button again.

Kit shook her head, “seventy-five cents… I can’t have another root beer float, but he can make me pay seventy-five cents to play Third Strike. Sigh.” Yes, rather than sigh, Kit said the word sigh aloud as she flicked the stick around, getting a feel for it. She should have done a button test first, but whatever. She wasn’t playing tourney rules or anything, in fact… she was the only person here. She didn’t need to do a button check to play arcade mode, and the stick felt… okay. It wasn’t FocusAttack approved, by any means, but it wasn’t like she expected some cheesy ass pizza parlor that touted itself as an arcade with three cabinets to have Sanwa buttons, or a high quality bat stick or anything that was ideal.

Selecting Makoto, Kit crammed the last few bites of pizza into her mouth, chewing with her mouthful. It was too much pizza at once to be honest, but she had no choice! The game was going to start soon, and that was more important than her comfort. Her playthrough of Third Strike lasted ten minutes, and by the end of it, Kit’s mind was made up. Playing fighting games alone was trashy. She was going to start her own team, a group of people who played fighting games together, or something. At least video games of some kind. Locals were great!

She had eaten almost all of the pizza she’d grabbed, and Kit had to admit one thing at least. She was surprisingly full, and the pizza was pretty good. Not good enough to make up for the complete lack of games that were in here. In this paltry excuse for an arcade. Kit grabbed the final of two pieces, and stepped in front of the Ms. Pac-Man machine, dropping two quarters into it — and she was happy to see that the game allowed her to play at that point. She stood there on her one quarter for almost half an hour, and when she finished the game prompted her to put her score in.

Scoffing as she realized that she was at the top of the leaderboard, Kit grumbled. “Amateurs.” She’d put a sizeable gap between the #2 score (RAF, whoever that was) and her own. She punched in ‘KIT’ at first, and stared at it for a few seconds, not hitting the ‘enter’ at first. She glanced over at the guy behind the bar and stuck her tongue out, before she punched in different initials. Then, she moved to the next machine: the Tron one.

She slipped in her quarters, and got into her zone again. She wrapped her hand around the blue joystick and began to play. Never very good at Tron, she had the hardest time with the tank level… But, even so, she was apparently better than whoever it was that had the #1 spot on this game too, as she climbed the ladder and made herself famous, knocking whoever AA was off the list too. She punched in her initials for that one too, editing them to match her plan.

“Oh, that’s realllll mature, dude!”

Kit jumped as she heard the voice behind her, and whipped her body around to face the bartender from behind and stuck her tongue out. “It’s about you, since you only have three machines in your 'arcade'! Kit said, looking down at her phone that had informed her she’d gotten a text message from her mother, which she checked.

Behind her, the Ms. Pac-Man screen showed a new hi-score under under the screen. Held by someone with the initials ‘DUM’ to its right, was the Tron machine, touting a new hi-score owned by ‘ASS.’ As Kit stuck her tongue out in Ty’s direction, Ty frowned, and stepped past her, and toward an unmarked door that was placed between the two classic machines and the Third Strike machine. He put his hand on the knob, and pulled it open, revealing a sprawling arcade with pinball machines, normal machines, and even a few different ticket games. There was a ticket counter, and a prize booth.

“W-why wasn’t that door open!?” Kit pouted, staring longingly at the rows of machines.

“I just thought you’d open it! Next time, I guess.”

Kit was ready to cry as she headed toward the door with her phone exploding with text messages from her mother, demanding to know what was taking so long. On her way out, Kit grabbed another slice of pizza to drown her sorrows in.

Locations: Late Tuesday Night/Early Wednesday Morning at Xio's place of work | Wednesday Morning Rodriguez Resident

Lights flashed. Music pounded. Bodies moved to the beat as onlookers watched on, money in hand ready to be given to the dancers. But most of their ones were saved in anticipation of the Snake Charmer. A double innuendo that seemed to work wonders on the audiences excitement.

Xiomara sat in the back awaiting her cue, an albino python draped over her shoulders content with resting with its body wrapped around Xio’s arms. The girl before her walked off stage and grinned at Xiomara. “All yours X. We got some dude giving out a lot of big bills so really play the crowd tonight.” she walked off, followed by the lower rank dancer that collected the money for her at the end of her solo dance. Each solo dancer had someone to collect money off the stage for them, said person would receive a bit of the cut for their help. It was company policy.

Xiomara went to the curtain leading to the stage and glanced in the mirror kept right there and pushed her bra up a bit, smirking to herself in the mirror.

“Showtime.”

~~~~~~~~~~
That night Xio made enough money to cover the rest of that month’s necessary expenses like rent and her mother’s medicine, plus it made her some extra for anything she may want to spend it on. By the time she got home she had just enough time to take a relaxing bath before getting ready and making breakfast.
Placing the food on a tray with some water, Xiomara carried the tray through the small apartment to her mom’s room. Pushing the door open with her hip she set the tray on the dresser before going to her mother’s bedside and sitting down on the edge of the bed gently.
“Despierta mamá. Hora del desayuno y su medicina. Xio gently whispered in her mother’s ear with a soft shake. Her mother stirred and slowly opened her eyes. A soft smile fell onto Martina’s lips as she sat up while her daughter went and got the tray with food and her medicine.
Xiomara sat with her making sure she took all her pills and got enough food in her. She then made sure her mother would be fine while she was gone at school, placing everything she could possibly need, minus food, that was all prepared in the kitchen. Martina glancing at the clock noticed her daughter needed to go and grabbed Xio’s hand pulling her down onto the bed. Xiomara looked to her mother as she placed a hand on Xiomara’s cheek.
“Mi cielito. What did I do to deserve such an amazing daughter.” A soft smile, one only seen by her mother, graced Xiomara’s lips as she placed a hand over her mother’s then moved her mother’s hand to her mouth and kissed her mother’s knuckles softly. “You raised me mamá, it is all thanks to you. You are the amazing one. You’ve done so much for me, the least I can do is return the favor.”
Martina smiled at her daughter, “It is the same conversation every morning isn’t it.” She was right, the conversation they just had was basically the same one every morning between the two. There was no doubt the two were close and cared for each other, it showed with how they interacted. “As much as I love talking to you, you need to go to school. I love you mi cielito. Now get out of here.”
Xiomara kissed her mother’s forehead and got up, leaving for the day at school. Her actual first day at school this semester, but her mother didn’t need to know about her short suspension. Xio could care less about the suspension, what she cared about was everything she’d missed during the time she was absent. She had some catching up to do if she wanted to be in on all the drama of BHHS.
A Collaboration Between: @Bee and @Lovely Complex
Featuring: Olivia Lee and a sneak peek at Benjamin Webb
For such a flimsy object, paper sure had an unproportional amount of deadliness to it. Who let paper cut people? In any case, Olivia Lee was the latest to fall victim to the bane upon society known as paper. For whatever reason, the class she was in currently didn’t have any band-aids, so off she went to the Nurse’s office to snag a band-aid. This would also work as an excuse to not be in class, as Olivia really wasn’t feeling it.
Letting herself into the office, she saw something that she wasn’t expecting to see. Was that someone on the bed? Why was someone sleeping here out of all the places on campus? Walking to the bandaid box, Olivia’s eyes couldn’t help but to be magnetized to the sleeping boy. Man, he was cute, and boy was he huge. And were those… deadpool socks? Olivia liked this guy already, even if it he wasn’t conscious.
Olivia was going to leave to leave the boy alone. The look on his face made him look so serene and quiet. As much as she wanted to stay she didn’t want to disturb the boy, thus she was just about to leave.
The flashes of anger and shouting, sirens, loud sirens, and fans panicking, trying to find their quickest escape. The soundless boy, wearing a loose grey shirt, wrapped in profound sleep, recalled the events of the previous night. He went out of his way to have a good time that night, only to get nothing out of it but a joke of a fight to watch. He was supposed to be the grand finale! No blood, no rage, no heroism. Instead, he watched the people run away from the ring on the church balcony by the organ. His employer, a dark haired siren of a woman, ran off one way, while a fellow… friend… ran off the other way with his new freckled face plaything. The boy drifted back into consciousness when he saw someone he didn’t recognize in his mother’s office retrieving band aids, and back out. Random images seemed to float around his mind aimlessly.
What time was it?
Was it lunch yet?
Begrudgingly, the mysterious and large boy groggily lifted himself up. Sleepily, he turned his head to the girl, still not processing who she was, but assuming she could only be one person, “Ma…. did you… get... Korean barbeque... like you said you would?” His words came out slow, as if he was still trying to come into present time. He had no idea he was talking to an actual Asian, so if he offended, it wasn’t his intention. When he didn’t get any response, he turned his head, his stomach growling, “Maaaaaaa, I’m hungry.” Only to realize who he was talking to was not his mom. Rubbing his eyes, he made sure that he was indeed looking at a stranger.
Mortified. The unknown creature before the beauty was frozen in spot, embarrassed, with a tint of blush on his cheek. No one ever came to the nurse’s office around this time. What made today different? What should he say? Should he say anything? Stoic and with a blank stare, the boy cleared his throat and tried to fix his hiccup, “...” Say something! “Hi.” Well, that’s a start.
Olivia raised an eyebrow. Ma? Who was ma? Was this dude a mama’s boy? Olivia had a smile on her face. ”Hi.” The girl was rather amused as she heard him go on about korean barbecue. “Who’s ma?” Olivia hoped this so-called “ma” was his actual mother and not just something she would rather not think about.
Scratching his head, he stood up and shuffled, socks and all, to the nurse’s desk grabbing a picture frame. He wasn’t one for words, nor the most sociable with people he wasn’t familiar with. In the picture was him, resting his arm on his step brother’s shoulder, Zachary Webb, and their parents, his dad Raymond, and Zach’s mom, the school nurse, Mimi. He extended his arm to her, the one that held the frame. Still, he didn’t say anything. He didn’t know what to say. Not even the simplest ‘my mom’ was entering his brain.
Now that they were standing close to one another, their height difference was glaringly apparent, but the boy got that a lot with anyone since he was freakishly large for his age. He was sixteen, going on seventeen this summer. Where was Zach when he needed him the most? He was better at talking to people… better at talking to girls. Even for this boy’s size, he has learned to avoid the limelight. Not many people know he exist, and if they do, they think he’s just a visitor, someone’s college brother.
”Mimi’s your mom?!” Olivia took a look at a picture. Well golly day. Mimi was one of Olivia’s most talked to people in terms of school staff. Since she was in the nurse’s office fairly often, she’d gotten to know the school nurse pretty well. ”Dude… I love your mom!” Olivia exclaimed, placing hands on her cheeks.
”I’m Olivia, by the way.” She remembered that Mimi had mentioned that she had a son or two a couple times, but she never bothered to ask about them.
“Step mom… but more mom to me than my actual mom.” He didn't mean to say that. Why would she care about his damage with his actual mom? Okay, time to change the subject. This Olivia girl who loved his true mom, being all cute and touching her cheeks, knew too much already. She would ruin his strategic plan to coast through high school, barely getting noticed, if she wanted to get to know him more. He could not afford close friendships with the opposite sex. His mom would worry that he was sleeping with them. And yet, you hang out with girls like Meg. He awkwardly smiled, not scared, but not relaxed enough for it to be a genuine, confidant smile either. He was too shy for this. “Benjamin...Ben… Benji… whatever you prefer.” After putting the picture down, he went back and forth on his heels, anxiously waiting. Should he offer his hand? Or hug her? What was appropriate when you introduced yourself? Instead of doing any of that, he put his hands behind his back and clasped them together, “Nice to meet you.”
”Benji? That’s a cool name.” The fighter smiled. She’d honest to god had never seen this guy around at all. Olivia had been here for a while, yet this face was a foreign one. Olivia was good with faces, but for whatever reason this was evading her as if it were slathered in butter. With a guy as cute as he was, there was no way she was going to forget it if she’d seen him before. ”So what do you do around here? Do you just hang out in here all day?”
“No… yes… sometimes.” He diverted his stare. She wanted to know all his secrets. This girl was like a detective and she was onto him. He wasn’t going to make it out alive. “I take the longest routes possible to get to my classes, to avoid traffic, then I convince my teachers to sit me in the back to avoid talking to people. In my locker, I have a maroon hoodie, which helps me cover my face, so if people do see me, they just think I’m a creepy loner, and they won’t want to talk me. I’ve learned the way you hold yourself can really determine how people feel about you. It also helps I’m kind of, uh, dumb.” He wasn’t as dumb as the system labeled him to be, He simply had social anxiety which made him shy and not speak up when he thought he knew an answer, ultimately making him doubt himself and come across as a giant idiot, “So I, err, take special courses.” Ah, shit. He was spilling the beans. “The nurse is just my cheatcode when I want to get a nap in before a test or something.”
”Oh so you’re one of those people?” Olivia leaned against the wall nearest to her. Honestly, she didn’t understand why people acted like this. You were going to be spending four years with these people anyway, so why bother hiding from them? It did more harm than good. ”Really? I- uh wow. Why do you want to keep yourself hidden? Of course people are gonna think that if you act like that, but if you don’t I guarantee people would take more kindly to you.” Olivia shrugged. He was a cute guy. She was sure that he was definitely going to attract people if he just presented himself better. ”I wish I had a cheat code, though…”
One of ‘those’ people. Did she have something against the learning impaired or in simple terms, the retarded? Benjamin narrowed his eyes, taking a step back in defense, but stopped when he felt the wall behind him, which was around the same time she stumbled over her next words. Hmpf. “These people —” He paused for a moment, pointing his right thumb towards the open door, which meant their school, “— suck.” The simplest way to put it. His eyes locked with her’s, expecting to be taken seriously. Why waste his time with people who wouldn’t stay in his life forever?
Honestly, though? Teenagers scared the shit out of him. The things they did to each other. How their words were weapons and they destroyed each other’s ego, pride, and self worth. It was a damn war zone. And now he was peeved. Thanks to this stranger.
“What would you know? How would you know? You’re not me, or my brother, or anyone considered ‘less than’ here. You thrive in the spotlight.” Even on the ring, he had his face covered. He did like the praise he got when people thought he was a great reckoning, but they didn’t know who he was and that made his act a modest one with little to no reward. They praised a faceless fighter, not someone with a name. Not a celebrity. Clenching his fists, his arms now dangling at his side, he sidestepped so he could walk around her to leave. “Some of us, don’t want that.” He walked past her, bent over to pick his shoes up, and dismissed himself, “You’re one of those people, I’m sure you can figure out your own cheat codes. Good day, Olivia.” And with that, the Beast was gone.
What just happened? Did Benji think that Olivia thought that he was retarded? Oh no. Oh nooo. That wasn’t the case at all. It was a very unfortunate understanding that Olivia wish that didn’t occur. She was talking about the fact that he isolated himself. With either case, it didn’t go too well. It was definitely one of those moments that kept you up at night because of how awkward it was. Great. Olivia sighed, biting her lip before exiting the office.
That couldn’t have gone any worse.
Last night was… Fawn didn’t even know how to begin putting it into words. True let her crush slip, Lucky took her on a date. It wasn’t any normal date by society standards and she was still processing it for the most part. The biggest thing on her mind though was what happened during the date between the two.
Her face turned bright red and she covered her face with the sleeves of her oversized, knit dress. She was trying not to think about how close he got, how close their faces were. Every time Fawn let her mind wander to the previous night, her face turned bright red and her heart would begin to thump wildly in her chest. It didn’t help that her mind seemed to be wandering easily, so her face felt as if it were constantly on fire.
Fawn wasn’t sure if he was even going to kiss her like her mind was making it seem, a big part of her doubted it but another part held onto the sliver of hope that maybe he did like her. He did take her on a date, an odd one but a date at the very least.
The sight of two people fighting for fun was different, she only knew punching when it was a punishment but there were people getting excited over two guys beating the crap out of eachother. The little deer had simply stared on, first in fear then with mild curiosity as it went down. The only thing that bothered her about it was when her mind imagined her parents being the ones beaten up. She was the opposite of violent, she feared violence for the most part, but by Lucky’s side she had felt a feeling of safety she’d never experienced and her mind somehow felt safe enough to express a thought she had always felt even if she didn’t know it. She wanted her parents to receive a taste of their own medicine, feel the same thing she felt due to them. It scared her yet somewhat excited her at the same time. Maybe it meant she would be escaping the nightmare soon.
Maybe Lucky would be her saving grace.
Tamami Saori sat in the library staring blankly at the English classwork in front of her. It was on smiles? No similes. Something she didn’t understand at all. She’d been at this for a good thirty minutes with no luck. All Saori could do was stare at the paper and reread the instructions over and over. A few minutes later a bang echoed through the library as her head slammed onto the table in front of her, waking her back up from the short doze she had just taken.
“Itai…” The green haired girl softly exclaimed rubbing her now red forehead. After nursing her wound for a minute she refocused on the homework in front of her. Saori was hopeless, she needed help. More specifically she needed to find herself a tutor. Standing up, she put her things away and marched out of the library to go find her English teacher in order to ask for help finding a tutor.
4:17 Erika was late… again. Josie had given this girl four warnings, she typically did the three strike system but she had given this girl some slack. But now she was going to have to ultimately make the best decision for the team and that meant kicking her off. Which also meant finding a replacement.
A groan escaped the dancer’s lips as she pinched the bridge of her nose. She had enough going on in her mind, she didn't need to worry about a new dancer. She refocused on her team running through one of their dances in front of her, watching for places they needed to go over and work on more. They had just finished learning the choreography the previous day and they were doing good for how long they had known it. Upon the music ending Josie smiled and clapped her hands together. “Amazing job! All of you are as talented as always, having the choreography down so well only a day after learning it. Honestly amazing. Before we take a short break I have a quick announcement. As you all have probably noticed, Erika has once again decided to not show up to practice so she will no longer be apart of the team. That means if you have any suggestions for someone to take her spot please let me know. Now go ahead and take a quick break then when you get back we will run over a few parts of the routine before doing it all again.”
The dancers walked off to get some water, from what Josie could hear none of them were surprised nor upset by the loss of Erika. She had been a bit of a toxic teammate but she was a talented dancer and her scores from tryouts automatically placed her on the team. It was a system set up before Josie, although Josie did let some people on that may have had low scores but she could see the dedication and motivation in them.
While she waited for the team to get back from their break Josie’s mind wandered to the night before. The DJ, her first kiss… she never had gotten Jax’s number. Everytime she got the courage to go talk to him again she couldn’t find him, just her luck it seemed. Josie didn’t know if that was fate trying to tell her to give up but she simply couldn’t give up, not when he was all she could think about all day. Mainly not when his lips on hers were all she could think about all day. There was something about Jax that just kept her from getting rid of the thought of him. She’d already gotten in trouble multiple times that day for her mind wandering to the boy. Mainly her mind thinking of all the things that went wrong, mainly the fact she just left him hanging when she was a flustered mess. It was embarrassing. Josie was confident in everything she did and in who she was but then Jax comes along and turns her into an absolute mess.
She needed to know more about him but she needed help if she was going to find him in this school. Josie knew only one person with the type of connections she needed to help find this boy. That person was the one and only Marshall, her dancing partner-in-crime. Pulling out her phone she texted him,
To: 💖👯Marsh👯💖
I need your help with a boy.
The text was short and to the point. It was known Josie wasn’t the biggest fan of texting, she would always prefer conversing with a normal phone call or in person. Especially for something like this. She needed to talk to Marshall in person about this.
Hearing footsteps approaching Josie looked up from her phone to see one of the dancer’s approach her. “Josie, I have an idea for who could take Erika’s place.” The dancer informed her. Josie simply raised an eyebrow, curious as to who it was. “Cyndi Green. She is coming back to BHHS.” This got Josie’s full attention. She knew who Cyndi was and knew she had quite the talent for dancing. That may just work perfectly, now she just needed to get in contact and ask her. That would have to wait for later, it was time to get back to practice.
”It was a very messy night my little harlots let me tell you. A hustler fell for a princess, Candy’s we’re eaten alive and yours truly, hella favourite harlot, even got to taste some damn fine jock wine. And let me tell you, she did taste damn fine. I’m sure the repercussions of last night will be felt all across Beverly Hell High for a long time to come and it is my duty as a messenger of truth to deliver it to you. I’m coming for the truth BHHS. My demons demand it. You are all nothing but a bunch of emotional vampires, feeding on each other’s weaknesses. I am guilty of this as well but honestly, I’ve never hidden who I am away. I promise the truth will not set you free, it will devour you. Until next time my pets, remember darkness is the perfect emergency exit. Rock on creatures, rock on”
Aces finished up her latest podcast just in time for her Classic motor to pull into the Beverly Hills High parking lot. Parking in her usual place, Gwen lit up a cigarette, turned up her stereo and blasted some Fleetwood Mac. Her pale blue eyes lingered upon the ether as the school around her got busier and busier. Her mind wandered to her series and what she could do to make it better but this thought was soon replaced by a recollection of the previous evening. As much as she slated her place of education, the heavy metal queen had to give something to BHHS, it knew how to create love for its students. The previous nights festivities were a prime example of the school working its magic. Inevitably, Gwen’s mind drifted to her own love life. A series of blow jobs, pussy eating and meaningless fucking. She enjoyed it of course but she couldn’t help but wonder. Was there more out there that she was missing? What’s it all about? This love thing. A mystery to her to say the least.
A familiar yell pulled the gypsy queen from her haze of thought. As she looked up, her heavily shadowed eyes widened with a feeling akin to fear, something she wasn’t all too familiar with. Cameron Hyde was on the warpath once again and Aces could feel her stomach filling with dread. Dropping her cigarette and turning her music off, Gwen quickly rolled up the windows and slumped into her seat. She clutched at her wrist which was heavy bruised from Hyde’s attack the night before. Immediately she was taken back to that moment, pinned against the wall by his massive hands, his hulking frame consuming her tiny body and those eyes, those fucking pools of ice cold nothingness, glaring through her porcelain skin and into her black soul. Aces Morgan may be a bit wrong in the head but Cameron Hyde was pure evil.
She couldn’t quite tell what happened next, only that Hyde rushed from the parking lot with a scowl on his face. She breathed a sigh of relief as she returned to her regular position. Normally, Gwen wasn’t scared of anything but that boy, he scared the hell out of her. Grabbing her mock Iron Tribe cut from the passenger seat, Aces climbed out of her car and slung it over her shoulder. It was time to greet the adoring public. Time to screw with LA’s elite.
God she loved her job.
Featuring: Charity Spencer and Jamie Callaghan
Location: Newspaper Room
Time: Wednesday, After school
By the time Charity Spencer arrived at the newspaper room, she heard the printers whirring, and working hard. It was too early to print the whole paper, and Trixie would not have gotten Charity’s coverage of the party to the printers this fast. That meant somebody else was printing something, and by the time she entered the room, she knew it was Jamie before she saw him. She was glad to see him, and equally nervous about asking for his help.
”Hi, Jamie. Working hard as usual?” she greeted as she strolled over to the printers and read what he had printed, turning her back to him as she read because despite what Jamie might have thought about Charity’s reaction to such a gossip-bait piece, she was actually smiling as she read it. I mean, the content of the story was bad, but the only part Charity did not already either know or suspect was the good news; Owen didn’t cheat on Trixie, and they had a chance at getting back together. Charity didn’t really know Owen, and from his reputation, didn’t want to know, but Charity had seen firsthand the effect this drama has had on Trixie.
Charity was smiling for another reason, however. These skills, and this ability to stir the pot with a mere article could rival the Weekend Warrior’s, and those were exactly the skills she would need from Jamie. Here goes nothing...
”Hey, Jamie? Could I ask you a favour? Well, it’s more of a proposition for a story, but it’s for a friend of mine.”
Jamie grinned at Charity. He liked the girl, he did. Sure, she was a bit of a Bible thumper, but she was a good writer, and she was dedicated. As someone working under him, that’s the best thing she could be. Well, someone soon to be working under him, if all went well. “Ask away,” he said, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms, his blue eyes trained on the sophomore.
Charity took a deep breath to steel herself, and made sure the door was closed, before turning back to Jamie. ”Trent from the football team is blackmailing Miriam Archer into dating him. I don’t know what he’s blackmailing her with but I’d like to find out before anybody besides us hears about this. I also need help gathering any dirt on him that exists...Not what you were expecting me to ask, I know, but Miriam’s my best friend”
Jamie nodded, chewing his lip as he mulled over the request. Trent was an asshole, for sure. Trent was also an asshole who played football, so that meant he packed heat, though, that hadn’t stopped Jamie before. Miriam Archer was a nice girl, and while she might not be an obvious ally, Jamie knew there was a benefit to helping everyone. Sooner or later, he’d be grateful he came to her aid. Jamie leaned forward, his posture gone from casual and laid back, to all business.
“Alright, I’m in. Find out what Trent has on Miriam, and then find a way to get him to drop it. This isn’t gonna be easy. I’m sure he knows that you and Miriam are close, so it’ll be too difficult for you to earn his trust. Nobody tells me anything unless they want it in the paper, so I can’t go either. Our best bet is someone on the football team, someone who can talk to him without it seeming suspicious,” Jamie said, looking up at Charity, awaiting her response.
”I don’t want to risk getting a football team member involved unless I’m a hundred percent sure they won’t choose team loyalty over us,” Charity answered, shaking her head. ”I haven’t lost Trent’s trust yet. I think I could get him to at least divulge the information. I’m pretty sure it’s just information because if it was an object like a picture or something, Miriam would have told me he has a picture. I’ll look into who we could trust from the football team too, in case there is actually somebody.”
“If you say so. Just keep in mind, if he catches on to you, he’s gonna have his guard up. He might even take it out on Miriam.” Jamie paused for a moment, then a grin broke out across his face. “Trevor Wells. If you need someone from the team, it’s him. He’s well liked by just about everyone, and he can’t help but do the right thing. I wouldn’t tell him the whole story, but I’m confident you can figure something out. I’ll keep my ears open for anything that could help. I’m sure Trent has something we can use against him.”
”Thank you for helping. I mean it. I’m really out my comfort zone this, and I wouldn’t have known where to start.” Spoke Charity, bowing her head, before looking back at the printer. ”Nice story too, though it perhaps should have focused more on Owen and Trixie than on Ophelia and Hailey. This school could use more positive stories.”
Jamie nodded as Charity thanked him, and smirked as she shared her opinions on his piece. “You’re probably right,” he said, pausing for a moment before continuing. “The school could use more positive stories, except I don’t care what the school thinks of Owen and Trixie. Gossip is a weapon, not just here, but everywhere. The student body rooting for Owen and Trixie? Who cares. The student body seeing their HOT Girls tearing each other apart? Well, that’s useful.” Jamie said, shrugging.
Charity frowned as she looked into the middle distance, before looking back to Jamie and smiling. ”I suppose why Trixie needs the both of us, and I suppose it’s also why I asked you for help. But, what do you mean, it’s useful?”
“Hailey has power because the rest of this school gives it to her. They see her and her lieutenants fighting though, and maybe they reconsider who they want to give their power to,” Jamie said slyly. He wasn’t under any impression that he’d be next in line for the throne. If it was gonna be anyone who took Hailey’s place it would be Selena or Becca Helmsley, but either one was better than the Green Queen.
Charity nodded, and thought to herself for several seconds, contemplating Jamie’s words. While she didn’t really agree that any good would come out of the student body seeing HOT girl infighting, after all, Hailey didn’t have her position because people thought she was a wise and benevolent queen after all, she appreciated how much power the newspaper had, and why they played the ‘gossip girl’ angle so much. It was the same reason the Weekend Warrior had become such an important part of the BHHS infrastructure, possibly as much as the paper. Words can change the way people think. Charity would use this power to try to make people get along a little better, and to keep people happy, with her articles. But she could see that there was a game in progress, in which Trixie and Jamie were players but she was not. She wasn’t even a piece. And that filled her partly with pride, but for a brief moment, that revelation annoyed her.
”Alright, well,” she finally said. “I’ll find a way to chase up Trevor, but until then I’ll try to get close to Trent Thank you for your help, Jamie!”
“Any time.”
Sometime during the morning, in a hallway...
“Ellie, just go talk to him already!”
Elliott was pulled out of what was definitely not a daydream about Miles Michaelson by his sisters voice in his ear, a stage whisper that damn near gave him a heart attack. He turned to face his twin, his usual look of annoyance plain as day. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Elliott said, glancing down to the book he held in his hand, and focusing on the pages rather than his sister.
Ivy let out a guttural groan, one that drew the attention of other students for a moment, before they realized it was Ivy and continued about their day, plenty used to her theatrics by now. Shaking her head, she kept talking, despite Elliott’s obvious attempts to ignore her. “You are insufferable. He is a boy! Not a monster! Boys are easy! Just go talk to him!” Ivy exclaimed, her arms flailing about, expressive as ever.
Elliott looked up from his book and over at Miles, feeling his stomach clench as he pictured himself walking over to him. He looked back at Ivy, her expression having morphed into one that he knew all too well, the classic ‘You know I’m right’ face. Shutting his book with a harumph, Elliott walked over to where Miles was standing, putting up some flyer. “Heyyyyy! Miles! Nice...flyer. Really cool, uh, bear.” Holy shit this was a disaster.
Turning his head, his mess of blonde hair following along with him, the artist gave that cheesy, adorable smile he was known for, “Really, man? Thanks!” After stapling the flyer on the board, he smoothly turned on his heel to face his junior, who gave him some good pointers in his writing and sophomore Shakespeare essays, “It’s cute, not one of my best stuff, but hey. I’m a boy that helps his friends. Nero needed me, so how could I decline? Plus, doesn’t he remind you of a teddy?! Or is that just me…” That was probably just him. Thanks, mom. His mom compared people to stuffed animals all the time, so in return, he does it too. “Anyways!” He took a step closer to the boy he was chatting with, his eyes finally meeting with Elliott’s. “What’s poppin’?”
Elliott’s breathing hitched. What’s poppin? What was poppin? Nothing, that’s what. Elliott had gone into this conversation with absolutely nothing prepared. “Oh, you know...stuff.” Down the hall a few feet, Ivy’s face fell into the palm of her hand. How was her brother this hopeless? As Ivy resisted the urge to barge in, Elliott’s face flushed crimson, and he did something he hated doing. He looked to Ivy for help. It was a quick glance, but enough for his sister to understand, their unspoken communication practically impeccable by this point. ASK TO HANG OUT Ivy mouthed to her brother, about as conspicuously as could be.
Elliott looked back to Miles, an awkward grin now plastered across his face. “So, y’know, I was thinking, we could like hang out sometime? I don’t know, there’s that movie night at Captain Cuddles on Friday, could be fun?” Elliott said, praying that Miles was oblivious to the fact that he was the most awkward person on the planet.
“Star Wars!” Excitably, and loudly, Miles shouted. “Dude, I’d be so down. CC’s got the best pizza out there, AND I can bring my pillow.” He loved his pillow. He needed to retrieve it from his locker. He’s been away from her for far too long.
Why did Elliott like this child? “Yo, what if I see if some of my boys want to come along and then we can totally hit the arcade after the movie. From what I hear it’s open late and milkshakes are being served alllll night.” ‘His boys’ were a bunch of geeks.
How did he respond? Say no? That seemed rude. He didn’t want to seem rude. Elliott, in his best impression of someone who has their life together, smiled awkwardly. “Uh yeah, totally. Ivy and Victoria are probably gonna come too, so like, it’ll be a big thing,” Elliott said. “So, uh, yeah. It’s a date. I mean, like, it’s a plan. An event. A rendezvous if you will.”
“Radical!” Miles grabbed Elliott’s shoulder and gave it a gentle shake, “Star Wars, pizza, milkshakes, and chill vibes. Can’t get any better than that. Oh! One last thing.” Miles, after what seemed to feel like forever, took his hand off of Elliott’s shoulder and ran it through his unruly hair, cooly, too cooly, “Sometime soon let’s share our work, yeah? Maybe go to The Secret Tea Garden. My mom just added to the menu, but she hasn’t told me what’s new so I got to go and find out.”
Two dates in one, do you say yes?
Elliott very nearly fainted. The hand on his shoulder, and then the way Miles ran his hand through his hair, it should’ve been illegal it was so hot. Breathe, Elliott. Breathe. Collecting his thoughts, Elliott smiled one last time at MIles, this one genuine, the awkwardness cleared away by the invitation to tea. “That sounds like fun,” he said simply.
Off to the side, Ivy shot him a thumbs up. Maybe she had been right.
Ah, man. Suddenly, and unexpectedly, Miles hit his own head with the stack of flyers. He would’ve face palmed, but his hand held a bunch of paper. “Speaking of my work, I totally forgot it…” He had to go to the library and make sure no one stole his pencils. And yes, his work. BUT. Those pencils were EXPENSIVE. His mom would kill him. Okay, she wouldn’t. She’d give him a pouty face and whine a lot, but even so! Those were his favorite pencils and he didn’t have back up sketches for that volume! “I will see you later, Elliott. You, me, a few other people, Friday. Fun times to be had!” Before Miles started to wheely away, he gave that charming, goofy smile of his and an adoring, playful wink, “See ya!”
As Miles rolled off, Ivy sauntered over to where a very smitten Elliott was still standing.
“So was I right, or was I right?”
Kit felt like her feelings of aggression toward the pizza shop owner were totally validated. First, the guy only brought out plain ass cheese pizza, not a topping in sight! Then, to top it off, he’d given her quarters to play games, but hadn’t mentioned even once that there was an entire collection of them behind a door! How was she supposed to know!? There wasn’t a sign! There wasn’t a window! Was she supposed to just assume!? To open doors with no reason or invitation?! She had been raised better than that!
Kit tore open the door to her mother’s car with her free hand. One hand was busy shoveling the last piece of pizza into her mouth as she lifted herself up into the passenger’s seat. “Professor, do we know who’s in charge of this eatery!? Because they. Are. EVIL!” She declared, glancing at her mother. For all intents and purposes, Kit had forgot about her mother’s mood the night before.
Rather than answer her daughter’s question, the older woman tsked as she glared at the cheesy pizza, “You know how I feel about you eating in the car.” There was A LOT of things Molly let her daughter get away with, eating messy ass pizza in the car was not one of them. “Stains on my clean leather is pure evil.” To avoid from getting bitter about the hair change, Molly simply decided to not look her daughter in the eyes, turning her head to glance into her rearview mirror.
“This pizza isn’t goin’ anywhere but down my throat where it can drown out my horrible, no good, very bad day.” Kit muttered, as she shoveled a huge bite of the food into her mouth. To her credit, she’d gone so far as to bring napkins along with her. Blowing a raspberry, she glanced at her mother, “so, the Doc says you’re still in a pretty bad mood…” Kit said, before turning her attention to outside the car, staring at the road before them. “I can only assume that I’m at the heart of the issue.”
Starting the car up, Molly bluntly responded, no sugar-coating in this household, “You are.” For the most part, Molly raised Kit to be stronger than most girls, strong than she was when she was that age, but that didn’t change that her daughter was still young and felt. “But.” With her right hand, she gently tapped her daughter’s leg, “I’ll get over it. Hair can grow back. As for the guy that owns the place, he’s a very rich, very powerful man. Bartimaeus Locke. Ty, for short. You know him as Hailey and Henry’s dad.”
“He doesn’t look like a very powerful man! He looks like a real douchebag to me. Hailey and Henry’s dad huh? That gives me an idea… Did you know that my new best friend is sucking Henry’s dick? I shall use this my advantage, and get infinite game tokens…” Kit was scheming now, getting ahead of herself. She could abuse Min’s relationship with Henry, probably! “OH. That reminds me! I invited a friend over for tomorrow night. The Doc suggested that I ask you. So, here I am.”
“That’s fine if—” Here was the ultimatum. “You babysit Summer’s demon duo so she can come to date night with me and Oliver, and obviously, her hubby. Her eldest won’t be in town this weekend, so I need you to take the hit. I want to be spoiled by your father.” Plus, she wouldn’t trust anyone she wasn’t close with to watch those two little shits that reminded her of Mini Alex and Mini Oliver. It was horrible. They were walking disasters.
“Yeah, I can do that Sunday, whatever. But I’m closing the door.” The gauntlet was laid down by Kit back at her mother, and she had a feeling that she had the power in this particular situation. Babysitting Summer’s wild children? That was a big thing to offer, and Kit knew her mom wouldn’t turn down the offer, despite her having some added weight to her response. It was bargaining.
“... any particular reason why you’re closing the door?” Molly narrowed her eyes, but kept her attention on the road. They were bargaining and it was a matter of wits and wagers. Terms and conditions. “You do know you will need to take them out for a little bit, if they’re cooped inside the house they’ll break something.” They always broke something.
“I’m closing the door because me and my friend are gonna play video games and I don’t want dad complaining we’re too loud. Look, if I’m takin’ them out, on top of babysitting, then I’m closing the door.” Kit folded her arms over her chest. The final offer was made. “It’s ridiculous to expect that much of me, I’m just a baby.” She blew a raspberry, and shoved the last bit of pizza in her mouth, chewing with her mouthful. “It’s not like it’s a big deal. I close my door all the time. Different reason though. You know why.
“... okay.” Molly smiled. “But those rascals need to be in bed by 8. Don’t let them eat all the stuff I let you eat, or you get no gaming done.” Her fingers tapped on the steering wheel, before she glanced over at Kit, “It better be just gaming tomorrow.”
Haha, score. Kit had made a deal with her mother, and she’d came out on top. Now, there wasn’t a thing in the world that could ruin her day. New hair, new friends, new Kit! Vastly upgraded Kit. “I mean, it should be. She has a… Collar thingy she wears and she belongs to Hailey Green. She's real pretty though so I might swoop in for a kiss. No fear, no fucks given. I can handle the kids, that's not a biggie. Kids like me because I am small.” Made sense to her. Kit shrugged her shoulders, but was ultimately happy she'd secured a private night with her new friend, with the door closed to keep the parentals out of their hair! How exciting.
What was up with the collar trend? She blamed Alex’s brother, Jericho. He made it go viral with her forever idol, Amity. “... would Hailey be okay with you kissing what is her’s?” Molly raised an eyebrow, her daughter was audacious.
“I dunno. But like, you can’t own somebody. I like to kiss people. I kissed Sam. Owen’s friend. And I kissed Selena. I don’t like her anymore.” Kit shrugged her shoulders, before presenting her new life philosophy to her mother. “If I see someone and I like ‘em then I kiss ‘em. It’s how I show my appreciation for the human body now, Mom. It’s not a phase! I hope it’s not a phase. Why didn’t you tell me kissing was this great?!”
How does a mother respond to that? Why was her daughter kissing everyone she liked?! After trying hard to think of how she should respond, Molly simply answered, “...don’t get mono.” Really, Molly couldn’t tell Kit how she should express affection. Everyone expresses differently. Oliver was the only man she’s kissed! Key word. Man. There was ONE time, she and Summer tried it, but Oliver doesn’t need to know that. That was before they were a thing, anyways.
“Wanna see the video of me kissing Sam? It’s totally on YouTube, dude. Isn’t that rad?! I’m like a star! I wonder what I’d be if I like, kissed with less clothes on! Like, like I dunno. Some kind of outfit! Like, like my cheerleading outfit! Do you think I’d get a lot of views?! Dude, I bet I would. I COULD BE A STAR, MOTHER. What the fuck is Mono?” Kit suddenly zero’d in on the word she didn’t understand. Mono? Like… monotype team? In Pokémon. That had to be it! But what did that have to do with kissing?
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” Okay, Molly couldn’t handle this. She needed to talk to her husband, ASAP. Where was she learning this from? Or more importantly, WHO was she learning this from? “You got your new hair and a closed door tomorrow, I don’t want to hear anymore about this new… you.” Not right now. Kit needed to stay her innocent baby. The car started to speed.
“Gotcha, If it makes you feel any better, the Doc says all kids grow up eventually, and that it’s unhealthy and unreasonable for parents to assume that their kids will be perfect innocent angels for ever. He says, and I quote ‘you’re not raising kids, you’re raising adults.’ You’re raising someone that will eventually contribute to society! What kind of contribution do you want to make?” Kit’s words were meant to soothe, but she knew her mother well enough to know that sense often couldn’t be spoken into her. “I’m just sayin’, y’know? Hey, you know what else?!”
“What.” Molly’s voice grew cold. Yeah, they were raising a girl who would be an adult, but that didn’t mean she had to become a slut. As the mother, it was her job to make sure her daughter’s ‘contribution’ was a positive one and that she knew, yes she was growing up, but she was still a teen. If Kit was trying to convince her to be okay with this newfound news about how the person that came out of her vagina will live her life from this day onward, Kit was strongly mistaken.
I qualified for the qualifiers for Evo! THAT means that I might be going to the biggest fighting game convention in the world! AS A COMPETITOR, mom! Do you understand how big of a deal this is for me!? I’m out of redbull, we have to solve this travesty so that I can keep training. I gotta practice. Gotta always be practicing. Practice, practice, practice, professor.” Kit was done with talking about her ‘personality change,’ and was instead focusing on the positive. She was going to the big time! Sure she’d played in a local game here and there, but nothing as important as EVO, it was Evo for fuck’s sake! Couple that with her possibly starting a stream team with the Vanilla Sunrise… Kit was on rise like a fucking sputnik! “I’m so excited! I can’t believe I did it. I didn’t think I’d ever do it.”
At least with this, Molly could approve. “Get some pointers from JJ, I’m sure he’ll help you be the best.” Molly unfortunately could not get gaming around her head. She did play when she was younger, but never to the level of her husband and his best friend and his best friend’s family. “and for your redbull, is there not an alternative? Too much of something is never a good thing.”
“I mean, tea is okay. I guess. But it’s also gay. But I think I’m gay. Oh, uh, by the way mom. I’m… gay. I hope that’s okay.” Kit gave her mother a thumbs up. As far as coming out parties went? It could have been better, but hey. Kit knew what she was now, she was just thinking it before. Now, it was a definite fact. Kit was gay as helllll. But that Damian dude was something… oh man, being a teen was tough. “But I think I still like guys. So I guess I’m only half gay. Is that okay?”
“I’m no homophobe, Kathryn. Yes, it’s okay that you are interested in both genders, but please, for the love of god, do not kiss EVERY person you like. That’s like giving them a treat before they even deserve it.” For now it was just kissing, but what if tomorrow it was her flower?!
“I only kiss the people I like that are cute. You don’t see me kissing like… A Double, do you? I like him. He’s the hookup! Alright, take me to the grocery store. We shall browse the teas and also buy me a twelve packer.”
Molly gave up. She couldn’t right now. “...fine.” Oliver was going to hear it when she got home.
Mentions: @Silent Observer @Lovely Complex {Marshall and Trixie, respectively}
Time: Noonish? on Wednesday
Featuring: Ophelia “I guess I’ll do it Live” Brycen Lyon and, however briefly, Belle “Was I bad?” Lyon
Location: Ophelia’s room!
Ophelia had chosen to take the day off from school, hide in her room, and nurse her wounds. She didn’t want to deal with the fallout she was sure to have. She’d betrayed her morals, betrayed her friend, put the blame of a touchy subject on the shoulders of Hailey, and gotten punched in the face. All in all? Not bad as far as Tuesdays go! If it didn’t hurt to move her face, she might have even laughed. Her mom hadn’t asked much about whether or not she could stay home, and for that, Ophelia was very grateful. She didn’t want to deal with the fallout, of all her good intentions.
What happened next was truly her own fault. Who else could she blame at this point? She’d lied about Owen cheating on Trixie, she’d lied to Trixie for a couple of months about it now… She’d seen Owen at the Lyon family dinners, and the fact Ophelia had made it through those scenes alive was nothing if not a testimony to her bravery! Telling Trixie the truth was hard though, harder than she liked to admit.
It was all dumb though, really. From the top to the bottom, the social ladder was dumb. They all bled the same blood (orange and black! haha, just kidding — half the school didn’t care about sports), they were all the same on the inside, and really? They were all heading to the same place. In the end, none of this would matter. And that? That was really what drove her to do what she did the night before.
#hotisdead
At least she’d made something trend (locally, not worldwide. sigh) before she dropped out of the game, right? She’d always have that to fall back on! It’d just taken a haymaker to the eye. Could she have reacted more confidently to it? Could she have deflected or gotten out the way? Honestly, probably. Trixie had been sloshed when she threw the hand, but Ophelia had decided she deserved it. So, she took it to the face. Even so, the punch was nothing compared to something like facing Marshall after this. Geeze, Marshall was gonna end her life. Or at least their friendship… fug, just kill her.
And then there was Hailey, but… Ophelia felt like Hailey had given up. Like she’d grown bored of the game she’d played, and that she was instead interested in the new game she played privately with Hana. Probably for the best, since Hailey was… something when she truly dedicated herself to a cause. Without her at the apex, maybe the whole ladder would suffer a collapse, and everything could revert back to the before time.
These, and more, were the thoughts flowing through Ophelia’s head as she laid on her bed and gazed up at the ceiling. Thinking things through, with a clear, less party-addled brain helped her make sense of all this. She could handle it; there was pain left to go through, but… she was strong enough. She could handle it. Besides, she had only herself to blame.
If it was different, and she could pass the blame off onto someone else, then… maybe. Maybe then, it would make sense for her to pout and hide and be afraid, but… it was all on her. If it meant most people in her life wound up happy, then Ophelia could handle being the martyr and the catalyst. She only had… what, two years left? Not even that, more like one and a half! She could handle people hating her for one and a half years. After that, she didn’t have to see them ever again so, fuck it, dude.
Knock, knock.
The sudden sound of someone at the door caused Ophelia to sit up. Okay, self. This is like the fourth time Mom’s come a knockin’. You gots a plan now. Tell her you got this one! This is easy. Just a couple of ruined lifelong friendships. You're still breathing! You can do this. You’re tough. You’re strong. Besides, you already decided you’re the fuck up anyway. Fuck it. Do it live.
“Yeah, come in! It’s not locked.” They didn’t really lock doors in her house; as far as she knew, none of the Lyon family really locked doors, a habit picked up from Sebastian himself. In his opinion, a closed door was a good enough deterrent for people, and if they needed to talk so badly that they’d open a door without confirmation from the occupants? Then they deserved to see whatever it was they saw.
Fortunately, there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary in Ophelia’s room when her mother, Belle, walked in. It was just Ophelia, laying on the bed. There was a book on the floor, opened face down. As her mother walked over to her, Belle bent down and picked the book up, “Isn’t this like, your first edition or something? You should be more careful with it.”
“Okay three things. First off, I honestly feel attacked right now. I don’t need that comin’ from you too. Secondly, it’s a trade paperback, mom. They don’t really have editions, And… thirdly, my signed copy of the Long Halloween trade is in a glass case in my showroom, surrounded by first editions of the single issues — all rated 9s and 10s of course. That’s just the one I read. Leave me alone, I like the Long Halloween. It’s a good story. More… detective-y, and I like when Bats has that feel about him. Why are we talking about comics? This isn’t about comics, is it?” Ophelia immediately found herself assuming that Belle had one that on purpose. Why wouldn’t she? Get her daughter rolling on stuff she cared about, and then swing in hit her with the one two to bring up Ophelia’s social problems. Oh, Belle was good. But Ophelia was better.
“Nah, kiddo. I guess it isn’t about that. How are you feeling? I heard that last night was an adventure. And, before you ask, no it wasn’t Kylie. But, I pay attention, and I know things. Do you wanna talk about it?” Gentle prying. Honest? Belle was still learning how to deal with a teenager. She couldn’t exactly learn from her parents. Her dad was great, but her mom had been a little… not there when she was growing up. She was around now, though, and Belle was grateful for that.
“Ya know, typically? I do! But this time? I honestly think I got this one. Stay on deck though, yeah? Just in case things go… poorly, which like they probably will. Trixie can be a bit, uh… short fused?”
“That makes sense. She’s always been more like her mother than her father. Izzy? Izzy gets incredibly furious about all kinds of things. Wolfe’s… as cold as ice, though. Never understood how they wound up together, but hey. Can’t complain. If you got this, you got this. Ace it.” Belle smiled and waved, considering her job as a mother done; and it was. If she couldn’t leave her child to clean up her own messes, then she sure as hell couldn’t let Ophelia out to the wild. She turned and walked out, while Ophelia grabbed her phone and pulled up Snapchat.
Flipping the camera to face her, Ophelia flipped through the filters, before deciding there was nothing that suited her needs. “Man, I look super… anti-put together. Better fix that, or she’ll think I’m going for the pity points.” Finally, while the clocks around her struck noon, Ophelia pulled herself out of bed, and to the bathroom.
After she’d showered, washed the runny makeup (it was for the best she didn’t take the picture before the shower, she looked like a bad episode of Casting Couch) off her face, and fixed the matted hair on her face… Ophelia was as ready as ever. With a towel wrapped tightly around her, covering her chest and other bits she was pretty sure Trixie didn’t wanna see, well, at least not right that second… Oof, did Ophelia just catch herself winking in the mirror?
As good a sign as any that she felt better.
With a single index finger, she reached out and drew a heart around her face in the steamy mirror. With that done, she held her phone up (mirror selfie… maybe she should drop the towel? ...nah, Trix would just be pissy. next time, baby), she puffed her cheeks out like a squirrel, and made her eyes as big as he could, then snapped the photo.
Should have used a filter, whatever.
She scrolled for a moment ofind Trixie’s custom name, and tapped it...
To: Trixalicious
can we talk? ur call, i get it if u dont wanna
Boom.
Ophelia hit the button, and sent off a Snap that she assumed would never be opened.
And, one more… This time, Ophelia covered the fucked up spot on her face from Trixie’s fist, and sent another snap; this time with a neutral face.
To: Gumdrop
sorry
There.
Now, may God have mercy on her soul.
A Collaboration Between: @Bee and @Silver Carrot
Featuring: Camille Winters and Panda
After the cocaine fueled debauchery that took place on the boat, Camille really didn’t remember most of her night after that point. There was something about more drinks and hooking up with some other stranger, but other than that she couldn’t tell you even if you pointed a gun to her head. Today, though, much like the others, Camille was a walking shell of herself. At least, for the first couple of hours. When she woke up at the crack of dawn, a headache with the might and strength of a thousand Hulks was bearing down on her like her brain was Loki or something.
However, it soon went away after Camille got herself familiar with the toilet. What happened there wasn’t beautiful, but at least it banished her headache back to the shadow realm, where it belonged. Figuring she had the strength to actually show up to school for once, she actually made her way to school. As expected, her fellow party-goers from last night were easily identifiable with their attire. Whether it’d be the obligatory hoodie with the hood draped over their heads, or the sunglasses on even in areas darker than Pan’s Labyrinth.
Camille felt totally fine. As bad as she felt for her peers, she was more focused on herself, and the amazing feat of not having to suffer the consequences of not knowing her limits for a long time. Granted, even she didn’t know her limits, but she knew the right tricks to make it so that she didn’t have to suffer the next day. With her earphones in her ears. her music was playing as she made her way to her free period.
As much as Camille should’ve done something productive with her free time, her procrastinative, complacently lazy self just didn’t want to. Looks like senioritis hit her like a big rig, and came earlier than a horny teenaged boy during his first time. Stepping into the library, she didn’t want to be directly in front of the door where people could actually see her and bother her. Nuh-uh. Camille wanted her peace for once. She really didn’t feel like being disturbed, and those who were unwise to do so were going to feel the wrath of ten thousand fists.
Falling into the chair, Camille let out a sigh as she let her belongings drop to the floor next to her. She had no worries about someone stealing her shit. This was Beverly Hills. If anything, they had better shit than she did. Being the teenaged girl she was, it didn’t take long for her to be absorbed into a world full of self-absorbed superficial egomaniacsm, dumbasses who filmed dead bodies and tazed dead rats, and possibly insane psuedofamous “entertainers” looking to make a name for themselves in a dying medium as she boarded the social media train, her phone being her ticket to said world.
She would eventually snapped out of this internet-induced stupor by Panda approaching her desk, leaning against it, and waving a hand in front of Camille’s face. ”Hello? Come back to us, Camille. I’ve been looking for you for ages. Didn’t think to look in the library.”
”Huh.. wha-” Camille was taken by surprise as a random Panda showed up out of nowhere. Pulling her headphones out of her ears, Camille’s stoic face quickly turned into a smile as she realized that the famed Panda was in front of her face. ”Oh hey, Panda! How’s it going sweetie? I haven’t seen you since… last night!”
”I’m surprised you even remember, given how shitfaced we were. I can barely remember anything myself,” replied Panda quietly, as they were in the library., before leaning in and getting even quieter, and looking kinda serious. ”I actually wanted to try and fill in the blanks with you, because, uh, I can’t remember if we used protection.”
Camille blinked twice. What did Panda mean? ”Wait… we did things last night? She remembered sourcing cocaine from Marina, but that was about as far as she remembered regarding that encounter. ”...you know my secret?!”
Panda looked around them again, then grabbed an office chair from nearby and pulled it up to Camille’s desk so that she could have a discreet conversation. After sitting down, she sighed. ”Clearly I remember more than you do, then. But that’s okay. Maybe if we work together we can both get complete recall. So yes, we did things, and yes, hard not to notice your secret when doing those things. How far can you actually remember?”
”I remember we snorted some cocaine… and then…” Camille put a hand up to her head, rubbing her temples, ”Yeah that’s all I remember.” Whatever Camille had snorted last night must’ve been some seriously good shit, because she couldn’t remember jack fucking shit.
”I remember a lot more than that, but it’s just bits a pieces. To be honest, I don’t even remember actually doing the cocaine. Just shouting out loud later on that I did some off...one of your body parts. Let’s just say that. You, me and Marina got pretty wild. Is any of this ringing any bells?” Panda asked hopefully.
Suddenly the image of naked people popped in her mind. It definitely rung a bell. ”O-oh. Oh yeah!” Camille definitely remembered that now. Uh oh. That meant Panda knew her secret. Her face turned a deep shade of red. ”Wait… that means you…”
”Yeah, that also means we...” Panda trailed off, blushing equally as much. ”I don’t mind. About your secret, I mean. Like I said earlier, my main concern is whether or not we used protection. That’s a rather more pressing concern to me and it’s probably high up on your list now too. If we really can’t remember between us, then we’re going to have to hope we did and assume we didn’t.”
”I didn’t come prepared… so I don’t think we used protection…” Camille rubbed her face, realizing the severity of her mistake rather quickly. ”I think I pulled out though… yeah?” Camille hoped to GOD that she didn’t just accidentally knock up Panda. The last thing she wanted to do was to have that happen.
”Blind drunk and coked up enough that you threw secrecy out the window and spent all night with me and Marina, but yes, I bet you suddenly gained a well-timed moment of clarity and pulled out,” Panda drawled, her face a mask of dread. ”I should probably get a test after school today. Anyway, on a less sober note, I doubt we can just go back to being platonic besties now, and I have no problem with that.”
”I mean… I don’t know, Panda… I don’t know what you’re trying to get at, Panda..” Camille shrugged once again, tapping her nails on the desk as she awaited Panda’s response. She had a feeling about where this convo was headed, but she wasn’t sure just yet.
”There’s no way to make this any more awkward, so I’ll just come out and say it. Wanna become a thing?”
”I…” Camille’s heart did a dive to her feet. Even though she was lowkey expecting this, it still hit her harder than Mike Tyson. ”I…” As much as Camille wanted to say something, she couldn’t find the words. Did she want to go to the next level with Panda. She didn’t know.
Panda almost immediately regretted blurting it out. She didn’t think she could make it any more awkward. She wanted to interrupt but could think of nothing to say. She didn’t want to take it back. But before either of them could say anything to address or alleviate the situation, the bell rang. Panda signed, and looked at Camille apologetically, as if the bell was her fault.
Camille was trying to make words come out of her mouth, but yet she was failing to do so. When she finally mustered up the bravado, the bell had rung, signaling the end of Camille and Panda’s open period.
Damn.
