My god would argue that, given the evidence of the human communities that have formed, and the discoveries that they have made, that a 'state of nature' in which humans must live like beasts and focus entirely on survival is not conducive to them making discoveries. Only an ordered society, one where tasks concerning survival are delegated, will allow a subset of the population the luxury of seeking knowledge. At least, this would be his proposal to Iva. My god wants to build good relations with the gods, and wants all or most of the gods to be in some sort of tentative non-aggression pact, and will gladly be the mediator between the gods and their worshipers (ie. middle management), since many of the more arrogant gods may feel that dealing directly with the mortals is beneath them. Basically, my god sees a pie and many hungry gods, so my god has offered to slice the pie. I may also relinquish making a mad dash-grab for Mathematics, since I agree as a player that that would fall under Iva's domain more.

Iva, would counter argue that stability and order are inherently enemies of invention and discovery. Plagues make it so people develop medicine. He is the type to create a disease, unleash it on people, and then see if they can make a cure for it, or will they succumb? War makes it so people develop better weaponry & tactics. Iva would argue this, is how people learn and best adapt & create new things. As well, There doesn't need to be a singular cast of people focused on research. As long as humans have desire to learn, anyone could make a discovery. From a lowly farmer to the wealthy merchant. The moment he starts restricting that to a certain caste or class, is when you start closing your ears to other ideas and avenues of thought.

If humans become stuck on one area of research, build their entire civilization on that without exploring other avenues (Using real world history here - Steam powered things being beaten by modern methods of power and the argument of our world being reliant on fossil fuels still with people being reluctant to change or explore other avenues), then its time for a chaotic and messy status quo change to see what humans can make if they must start over with nothing. Iva can and will destroy entire civilizations if he grows bored with them, hence why I wanted him to have that Archival ability. He's not evil or cruel. He just gets bored easily. As long as he's entertained by the current civilization, then he'll let it thrive and watch. Maybe offer help here and there. But the moment he gets bored...well, he'll start thinking about another experiment.

That's all humans are to him, one big experiment. And when one experiment ends, another must begin. He'll take a lesser known form of technology in a previously made civilization, and give it to another human and tout it as 'the most powerful force in the world'. In the previous real life example, he'd destroy our currently world and tech, and then give humans working steam technology and thus watch as a literal steampunk world unfolds.

But of course, this is all hypothetical situation and much better decided ICly. Your god could very well sway Iva to perhaps, entertain the idea of a world government of sorts. It would certainly be an entertaining idea for Iva for awhile...until it started to stagnate and become boring. If he did do this, he'd probably advocate free education and that no one be barred from attempting scholarly pursuits. But even so, at some point, he will grow bored if the civilization fails to produce anything significant after awhile, or becomes so entrenched in tradition that it refuses to consider and at least attempt to employ other avenues of thought.

If you want, as soon as the RP starts we can have these two get together and discuss such things, if you want.

Very good reasoning, I'll admit that - however, considering Akhuz eventually removes the ability to experience/display negative emotions, I feel like wickedness of a person eventually becomes a non-issue. Still, that was a very well-made point/argument.

And yes, the name is Hebrew - little known fact, I am Jewish.

Alright, I made a new bio. I will admit I used both @jetipster and @Legion02's characters within the bio, however I will be gladly able to change it if they find something wrong with it. I should've asked them first, but I was just too in the middle of making it that I seemed to have forgot until it was too late. To be fair, they only play a rather minor role and I think their actions can make them be friends to Drakairos.

What do you guys think?

Also is it ok if I make one more god/goddess? Would at least have one more that's more humanlike if you know what I mean. I'll probably stop with two and no more but yeah, can I?

@A Lowly Wretch - I was playing with the idea of Ragnagedon's first (and only, so far) tour of destruction being immortalized in early man's legends. Like vague stories are shared in many tribes about a beast of utter destruction. While between the tribes the stories might be slightly different, there is always a constant: fire, wings, death and destruction. Some tribes would believe that the return of this beast (as he suddenly vanished, some might even believe the gods sealed it away. Again, human stories definitely vary) heralds the end of the world. Maybe a certain tribe saw Ragnagedon fly into Verzak and started praying and sacrificing people/animals hoping to keep the destroyer at bay. And as Ragnagedon hasn't left his realm for many years now, they probably believe it works.

Elsewise, what did you have in mind?

@Lmpkio - I'm afraid you should've asked. Mostly to verify if it would be something Ragnagedon would do. In your case, I'm afraid it wouldn't. Your dragon, even though in pain, is not desperate. In fact, he is imbued with great power. There is no way Ragnagedon would've blessed him to control the power. Besides, there is no way Ragnagedon would've just blessed him and that be that. Receiving his benediction is more like a curse. With death at the very end. Always. It would've amplified the divine power maybe, but your god would be suffering every step along the way and might be destined to die. So there are two problems: Ragnagedon wouldn't have given him his benediction and wouldn't have just blessed him with a head to control his power.

I'm sorry if this is a bit annoying to you. But I would prefer my character to stay true to himself.

Yeah I was already thinking I shot myself in the foot with that portion. To be fair, in a PM, jetipster mentioned something regarding the possibility her character blessing Drakairos in someway, so that's where I got the inspiration. I should've just asked however.

Well then... I'm a little lost at how this can go down. I could have Drakairos somehow grow two additional heads to accomodate with the growing power, but this could be implied as him being able to grow more heads (which he shouldn't do). But I wouldn't mind some backstory to add in at least one/two gods/goddesses.

Never mind - I think I managed it on my own through another edit. Still if you have ideas I may be able to accommodate for them.

@Stern Algorithm@Noodles - After reviewing both your characters I am happy to say that they are confirmed for submission. You may feel free to post them up on the characters tab.

@Noodles - One thing I will note is that while having his creations be imbued with power to keep them from being destroyed by most beings is fine as time goes on such power will start to fade over the ages. Without upkeep there will come a day when his magical treasures will lose their power and return to simply being interesting trinkets. Naturally the more powerful an item is the slower it is to lose it's strength but it is also more difficult to create. Your god may find himself quite exhausted if he continually produces treasures of similar power to those listed in his current creations list without rest.

@Lmpkio - If the CS I read back on page four is still the correct one then from what I've read your character is confirmed for submission. You may feel free to post all three of him up on the characters tab. As for your request to make another god if you feel up to handling two then you are quite free to submit another CS for me to review.

In more general news I'm about halfway through the opening post. I may or may not get it done today but I can probably guarantee it will be done tomorrow at the latest. It'll involve human on human violence as well as a small slice of Oao's daily life.

Edit: Missed a couple posts between starting this one and submitting it. Whoops!

@Legion02 - My idea was that someone within a tribe of humans would have seen Ragnagedon once and, inspired by his sheer might, decided to mold the tribe around use of fire. He would go on to become leader of this tribe and use fire to subjugate neighboring tribes, destroying their homes and killing their people before setting it all ablaze to try and earn Ragnagedon's favor while using his example to strike fear into their enemy's hearts.

@Lmpkio - If you wanted an idea for what could have resulted in Drakarios splitting into three one such idea is that what he actually devoured back when he was a normal dragon was a newly born Divine Cord attuned to weather. He could of eaten it before it shaped a body around itself and just like any mortal being who absorbs a Divine Cord he'd of been subjected to radical changes which can include but are not limited to changes in personality and the development of new body features. Growing three heads that can separate into three separate bodies, two of which are divine constructs powered by the main body, is an entirely feasible change that Divine Cords can bring upon something.

@A Lowly Wretch Oh, I like it! I'm actually quite tempted to make Ragnagedon notice the tribe. If they destroy enough he might. Though it would lead to a very self-destructive blessing. Normally he blesses the desperate and the forsaken. But a whole tribe dedicated to wanton destruction, that would work too. Again, these kinds of tribes would never last very long but they would definitely go out in a blaze of glory and probably eternalized by their enemies.

I wish to acknowledge as well the largest threat to your gods Ideas; Ragnadon. The fire god destroys literally everything. Plus, my goddess cares only for the rules of nature and magic followed, and magical communities don't thrive on government. They may have leaders, but only in figuring out the best way to create something ritual wise. Although she wouldn't care if it only affected those outside her mountains and Rift, if it spread there, she'd cause Gam some major issues just as a warning. She is supposed to be one crazy b____ after all.

I'd just like to announce that the first post is officially up. The IC tab is officially open to our lovely roster of gods and goddesses. For tonight's entertainment we have human slaughter with a side of minor miracles!

It's currently nine in the morning and I haven't slept yet. I'll leave you all to read over what I've put so you can begin plotting your first posts now that this rp has officially begun.

For those still looking to submit new gods you are still welcome to. Early on it'll be no problem writing in old gods and later on I can provide opportunities for new ones to join.

For the time being though... Yaaay! And goodnight.

Man. I almost wish Iva wasn't such an uncaring fool so I could have him huggle Oao. I might have him do it anyways.

@A Lowly Wretch
One question.

Iva's gonna make shoggoths slime people. That cool?

I thinking Ferron is going to make dwarves and get them set up. It might not be the very first thing he is going to do, but that probably going to be one of the first things he is going to do.

Do gods actually hear or sense prayers? I was wondering in case Hayim would react in any way to what happened to one of his tribe of worshipers.

I can edit it to make it based around the divine cord thing. But that's the only change I'll do. After adding that, I'll add him in to the CS. Thanks! And sorry for my incompetence prior.

@A Lowly Wretch I hope you don't mind me taking the Leader figure for a ride. It felt only fitting.

@Kalas The soul of the first Verzakian Dragon is probably going to descend. Feel free to grab him if you so desire.

[@All] I'll be writing up a bit about the Verzakian Dragons in a bit. Basic premise: They're dragons in the worst possible way but other gods can change them if they so desire. However, the only way to do so is to remove Ragnagedon's essence. Which will make them considerably weaker and remove their ability to breathe fire. However it will relieve the constant pain, hate and rage they feel.

I was going to ask a similar question. What level of omniscience do the gods have?
