A thread basically to just... ask the people of RPG anything.

Need help solving a math problem? Ask. Don't know what to do in a stick situation? Ask.

Please keep it within the regulations of the site rules. This thread is not to be used for bashing, name calling, or any other thing of the sort. Light hearted topics are preferred.

I apologize if this actually belongs in spam. Idk.

RPG, why do people get super excited for an RP and then never post in them?

Because nobody has the dedication or interest to keep going an archaic and outdated mode of announcements and community outreach on a message board.

I mean, what would you rather do? Focus on your roleplays or do research on the community and write a newsletter about it every week?

I tried adopting it, but alas, I was too late.

Honestly? I would probably go for the latter at this point. I focus on my roleplays elsewhere and keep my presence on the guild as a sort of nostalgic life support, so why not. Though I would not make it a weekly thing. Still, I doubt any of my theories on it would get anywhere, so carry on.

sorry, most recent death was my fault. i think rpgn just... doesnt work anymore. there isnt anything to report on except the contests, and they were on hiatus by the time it came around to writing the second issue. not to mention, despite several pushes, community interaction was a little on the thin side. it was a generally bad time for me motivation-wise, then i drifted away from the site altogether... all in all it was a bad decision on my part, so i take full responsibility for this one. especially for just ghosting out like that. have you tried applying for it again? i think me just completely leaving rpg was a good enough sign that there needed to be someone else to take the reins.

I've never been particularly good at applying for things. Truth be told, I'd only do it now if poked, as I more or less passed up when I asked about it and heard that control was already given. That was at a time when my schedule was much more open, although if someone wanted me to, I could try to cut the appropriate time now. But, in any case.

I think a key problem is that RPGN keeps trying to become what it was, rather than evolving from the issues of its past iterations. It has been attempting the same things again and again, rather than shifting to the appropriate gear for the new steep hills. For example, I think it would be considerably more sustainable if it was set up on a monthly basis, something where the obligation would be more widely distributed while still occurring at a faster rate than once or twice per year. I'd also say that perhaps it is less a matter of waiting for people to apply, and more a matter of approaching people who have a will to contribute. Sometimes I find even inviting new members of the community - carefully, of course - can help a community engagement keep afloat. There is more to the guild and roleplay than simply contests. Simply a matter of looking. But, of course, that takes someone who wishes to look.

Dunno if such a person will come around. Really, it's the sort of thing that requires a unique directive, and clearly, that directive hasn't been around for a long while.

I don't really have a preference, however, but I do prefer European chocolate over American varieties.

European you say? I've never tried any of those to my knowledge.

Primarily chocolate produced in German-speaking countries. I imagine most supermarkets like Walmart carry a few different variations of Ritter Sport or Lindt/Lindor, but that tends to be the expensive kind, and some kinds you can only find at select places. For instance, only one store around here carries dark chocolate with hazelnut Ritter Sport bars, while other places carry a mini sample bag of various kinds or Marzipan.

if you have an Aldis (or a Trader Joes, which is basically rebranded Aldis), you can find quite a few different chocolate brands imported from Germany and neighboring countries. It's not quite Ritter Sport, but its still good chocolate and tends to be cheaper than the more expensive brands.

Milk chocolate for chocolate fixes and ice cream, white for non-ice cream desserts, and dark if I'm making my milkshakes that truly do bring all the boys to the yard.

I don't really have a preference (seems to be common with me, I guess).

Since we're still on the topic of sugary sweets, how many of you like mint? I've had about mint everything, from tea to gum to ice cream. I've had friends look at me weird for enjoying mint, but oh well.
