That's a fine Snidely Whiplash moustache you're working on there...

Sometimes I leave them on the rails but the trains take so long that they usually manage to free themselves.

The most fun I’ve had in RDR2 is trying to get my character to turn like a normal human being (the controls and UI in this game are hot garbage)

I really only find combat clunky, walking, running are all fine with me.

Combat is clunky but at least it puts some fun in. I find the way the character/horse control annoying. The story and characters are incredible, but I wish the game was more fun to actually play.

I keep ridding into people or places accidentally then they get all pissed with me. I'm no longer welcome at the lumber yard and that was a good little money maker

I was escorting someone back to town, my horse lightly tapped them going at the slowest speed, and I then had to run away from the law who wanted to kill me.

Meanwhile, I've had no problems aiming (with and without deadeye), riding, or moving.

When going from Spider-Man and God of War, both of which had tight controls and fluid movement, my character handling like he’s drunk on absinthe the entire time has taken a while to get used to.

Only game I've played since Spider-Man was Dead by Daylight and that's not all that frequent. So maybe that's part of the reason. Hard not to think its clunky after how smooth Spider-Man played.

Sounds like it really has that "Old West" flavour. You just need to go into the settings and adjust from "absinthe" to "bourbon" and it should be perfect.

Actually, now that I think about it I did have one issue with a barfight where I accidentally punched the piano player behind me due to the lack of locked melee targetting. I was pretty annoyed at the money I had to pay to clear my name there.

That seems accurate in and of itself...

...assuming a third party followed in suit and broke a bottle over the head of someone else who had nothing to do with the fight.

Again, I refer you to the sage advice:

Just kill all the witnesses guys.

The cop in the bar with a rifle didn't really appreciate it. Safe to say that fight ended fast.

I am having fun with RDR2 so far. But, it is time that I finally work on my post. Speaking of which, does someone have advice on how to write combat?

I try not to get too caught up in writing combat as it's a very visual thing and there's only so much time I want to spend describing two people punch each other. I'd just keep it simple and make sure the plot flows with the punches so you don't come to a stand still for two characters to slap each other.
