Five years ago, the very foundations of Orre had been rocked to their core.
Through science, Team Cipher had created an artificial process to close off the hearts of Pokémon, twisting them into vicious monsters known as Shadow Pokémon. With the assistance of Team Snagnem, these men and women scoured Orre, terrorizing its denizens and stealing their Pokémon through underhanded threats and violence. Nonetheless, help would come from unexpected places, as a former member of Team Snagem would crusade throughout Orre, snagging Shadow Pokémon and purifying their hearts. Through his efforts, Team Cipher would be defeated—their schemes brought to an end in a final battle watched over by Ho-oh itself.
Following Cipher's defeat, a professor by the name of Krane had begun to study Shadow Pokémon, taking a group of students under his wing. With his research, Krane would create the Purification Chamber—a project dedicated to purifying the hearts of Pokémon at a much faster rate than the hero had done so using the Relic Stone located near Agate Village. However, with the sudden disappearance of the S.S. Libra—a large cargo ship carrying Pokémon on its way to Orre—and mysterious rumors of nefarious masked individuals, the region finds itself once again shaken and stirred.
The day of reckoning is at hand, and only the brave heroes of Orre can stop it.

As suggested by the title, this roleplay will be taking place within the time frame of XD: Gale of Darkness, which follows the events of Colosseum that had happened roughly five years ago.
Contrary to most Pokémon roleplays, this roleplay will be have mature themes, echoing the darkness represented within the Orre games. As I've always found the gameplay to struggle representing the nature of Shadow Pokémon, in this roleplay they will be represented as they are made out to be—twisted monstrosities that have no issue with violently assaulting individuals, and perhaps even killing them due to their evil nature. These Pokémon are supposed to be vengeful, with the door to their hearts closed off by Team Cipher, and I want to represent that in this roleplay.
Similarly, Team Snagem and Cipher will be much more threatening than they are made out to be in the video games. Members of Team Snagem are supposed to be thuggish bandits who steal Pokémon from their trainers, whereas Team Cipher is supposed to be a group of nefarious masterminds behind the creation of Shadow Pokémon, but just like any Pokémon game, they usually just give up after losing a battle. These teams shouldn't be afraid to beat someone to a crisp or shank a guy, therefore members of Team Snagem and Cipher will be represented as such here.

Pacing: Typically, I expect at least a minimum of a post a week for any RP I GM. At the same time, however, it is understandable that someone might find themselves busy as everyone has some sort of obligation, whether it be school, work, and so on and so forth. If you do find yourself unable to post for some time, please make sure I and any CoGMs know so that your character can be moved temporarily into the background to avoid holding up the roleplay.
Posting: Whilst I don't expect everyone to be the greatest writer in the world, please try to write at a high casual to an advanced level. This doesn't mean that you should write a rambling novel, rather, it means to write something of considerable quality. Ensure your post is fluid and flows with the scene, check your grammar and spelling—that kind of stuff.
Etiquette: Put simply, don't be an ass to everyone. We're here to have fun roleplaying, so don't incite arguments and flame your fellow roleplayers. As long as you follow these rules and the guild rules, we should be fine and dandy.
