Mary wasn't too surprised by what Allison had said towards Jakobsen, it made perfect sense in her mind, to try and get Jakobsen to stand down, however, just telling him and yelling at him likely wasn't going to do the job, that much was obvious. Future Carolina had tried that tactic back at his office, and it hadn't worked at all. It made her start to think of something, before she noticed someone else who was with them, she must have been locked up in the facility. Jakobsen glanced over at Dean, and rolled his eyes slightly, finding the kid a bit annoying, and a bit of an idiot.
After a moment's hesitation, once everyone had gone outside, Mary went over to the silver haired girl and looked right at her.
"Thalia? I know you aren't feeling the best from the looks of those wings, but maybe... Just maybe... Do you think you can show images of the future? Just so we can show Jakobsen what's going to happen..." "...Maybe, though do you have a specific time era in mind? Like a year maybe? I need at least a ballpark number for stuff like that, and not to mention we all will see what is going on..." She thought for a moment, thinking. Jade was pregnant now, with the kid that was going to basically be tortured or something, so a few years down the road then?
"...Shoot for 2026..." Thalia nodded, before she took a deep breath and looked right at Jakobsen. Suddenly there was a large clock that appeared above everyone who was outside, as the clock hands raced forward, images appeared in front of them, showing everything. Starting with Alcie, Jakobsen's daughter in the future. The little girl was cute, but that was besides the point. What happened in front of them was showing images of what was going to happen to the little girl in the future, what was going to happen.
Jakobsen stumbled backwards, seeing everything like that, however, that was going to be the least of his problems in a few seconds. The car door opened with a bang, and Jade stormed out of it, for she had seen everything too, and she threw her ring at him.
"You bloody promised you arsehole, no kids!" "I-I-I didn't know anything about that Jade, I swear. I told you about dealing with them, but damn..." he said, running a hand through his hair, he was looking like he might actually cry seeing that. A few of them had mentioned him having a kid in the future who was a mutant, but he never thought that if that was true he'd ever sink that low. He never wanted kids to get hurt, that was always his policy, especially since he knew that Jade was against it.
"It was your bloody robots that attacked that school, Alex! Ya promised me ya wouldn't let any kids get hurt!" "You're right okay? That's on me! I never wanted any kids to get hurt! I can't control what everyone else does, I may be at the top of the organization, but you know I can't keep track of everyone!" Jade shook her head, rubbing her hair as she tugged on it.
"I can't even look at you, Alex! Your agents hurt kids and even if ya didn't know about it, that's on you! I....I can't do this, Al." "You're right damn it! I told you I wasn't going to hurt kids, and it happened because of me!" he said, before he pulled out his phone and started dialing a number.
"I'm going to call a cab," Jade said.
"Wait Jade..." he said, before he put the phone to his ear, after a moment he started talking.
"Hey, Ricky, put out a notice for everyone, news reports, I don't care what you do, but make sure to let every OMEN facility know this too, the organization is done, gone. Disbanded and hopefully will never make a comeback." Jade looked at Alex and then she looked at the kids. She hoped her daughter was like the blonde girl - Allison. She had a strength to her she had to admire.
"Ya said your name was Allison, right?" Jade confirmed. Alcie now had a middle name. She then looked back at her ex-fiancé.
"Al..." "Just leave it be Jade, I don't care anymore," he said, heading back to the car after he hung up the phone.
"....Alright." "...Do you want to come with? Or would you still rather call a cab?" "...I want to get these kids somewhere safe, Al." "I get it Jade..." he said as he finally picked the ring up that she had thrown at him, slipped it into his pocket and got into the car.
Jade bit her lip slightly. He was the love of her life.
"Uh... Ms. Cornish?" Mary spoke up, walking over to her,
"You don't need to worry, we can get everyone out of here pretty easily, we also have the help of Tony Stark in getting a place to stay for everyone while the mansion is rebuilt. So don't worry, everything will be fine, especially because of what Jakobsen just did. Never thought I'd speak in favor of the guy but sure, the problem will never be completely gone, but... Because of him, there was a big step in the right direction to stop things like this from ever happening again." "I'm going to stay until someone else gets here to take you all in - you kids shouldn't be alone here." "Well, Richard technically shouldn't count, but he's kind of the chaperone, not to mention we've got a SHIELD agent with us too. And a lot more of us are adults than you think, though just barely qualifying for that one... We'll be okay..." "....Alright," Jade said, figuring she'd have to call a cab
The car that they had come in was still there, Jakobsen seemed to be on the phone with someone at the moment. The driver was waiting for instructions, and Jakobsen got off the phone finally, putting it away. He glanced out the window at Jade, before looking away and leaning forward to tell the driver where to go.
Jade hesitated, before she wordlessly got into the car. Alex glanced over at her, looking away quickly before he leaned back, the car started and they started moving. Jade was quiet in the back seat, looking outside the window at all of the destruction and chaos that had occurred at the OMEN facility.
"...Are you okay?" "I'm fine, Al." "...Okay..." he responded, before he went to staring out the window.
Jade wasn't about to open up and talk to him. They had just broken up and her own father had sexually abused her as a child, and her mother abandoned her. When it came to kids, Jade was fierce and wanted to protect them from the dangers of the world. The vision of the future that Thalia and Allison had described...
"...I'm sorry... I screwed up big time, and I know it..." "You did," Jade acknowledged. She didn't know if she could forgive him - it wasn't something he had done to her, but to these children and in the future, her child...
"...I also know the odds of you forgiving me isn't very likely. So I get it if you want nothing to do with me... Was a little surprised you actually got in the car..." "....It's a free car ride. Financial sense." "Right... I remember that was the reason you told me for moving into my apartment at first," he said, smiling slightly at the memory.
Jade nodded slightly.
"I was after your money, Al." "Of course you were..." he said, chuckling slightly now.
Jade was still looking out the window, her hands clenched and her knuckles were white, as if she was on guard for an attack.
"I don't want credit card debt." "...I never lied to you Jade... I never wanted to hurt any kids... Before we got out of the car, I had told you that I wanted to make a difference... For the better... Guess I went about it in a completely wrong way..." "....We aren't good people, Al. We're damaged. Only shit can come from that." "...Maybe we still can make a difference... Prove that we can do good... Being damaged is what makes us who we are... And honestly I don't care if you call yourself damaged Jade... You aren't to me..." "What am I to you, Al?" Jade asked, still looking out the window.
"...Someone I love and care about... And hope that maybe eventually I can earn your forgiveness... I don't want to lose you..." Jade still didn't look at him, but she inched her hand towards his.
"...I love you Jade, and I always will, no matter what..." She then held his hand, and Alex glanced over at her, giving her a slight smile, but he fell silent.
Back at the Facility After the Craziness
Mary turned to look over at the group who were all still there. Hearing Future Carolina's words, she just shook her head.
"...He's gone, died protecting the three of us..." she said, motioning towards herself, Wanda and Sara, before she fell silent again, not really liking the memory of what had happened in her mind.
Pietro finally set Guin down, once he started getting a bit too dizzy. Wanda rolled her eyes at her brother, before a box of Twinkies appeared in his hand, and a few seconds later the box was completely empty and Pietro had regained some color in his skin.
"...Thanks Wanda..." "...Your welcome Pietro... And I have a small gift for you, if you are willing, call it an early birthday present of sorts..." "...What is it? And should I be worried? This is a bit concerning not going to lie..." She chuckled slightly, before she waved her hand,
a small turtle appeared in his hands. He was a bit surprised, they never had had any sort of pets growing up, and he always had liked turtles, the irony being that the animal tended to be one of the slowest on the planet.
"...For me?" "Of course, you always have liked turtles..." she said with a smile.
Pietro instantly hugged the small reptile.
"His name is Mr. Dibbles and is mine, no one else's," he said instantly, before he held the turtle up to Guin.
"Look Guina, I got a turtle!" Demetria had been paying more attention to what was going on, so she was almost startled by Annie's question.
"Who, me? I've got to get back to DC, back to the underground, report in to Veil... Though you, well... I'd recommend you stick with these guys... The X-Men, and if anyone can help you feel at home, or get your life back together, I'd place my money on help from Charles Xavier. He's the one you should go see, go get help from. Stick with them, most kids we get from the underground we tend to send to the Institute anyway, so I think you're better off here."
