WARCRAFT
War of the Ancients

Premise

It's been years since the Second Great War with the Legion. As time passed the fragile peace that the Alliance and the Horde had reached is slowly crumbling away. Then a new threat emerged on the Horizon, the Lich King. As the wheels of fate are turning and everyone's preparing for the battle to the North, a subtle fracture forms within the very fabric of the world. Something has went incredibly wrong outside of everyone's notice. A whirlwind within time and space had formed, pulling forth heroes across Azeroth into it. As both factions finally noticed the disturbance in the world, be it from the guidance of dragons, Elune or the Ancestral Spirits, each sending people in attempt to study the situation and possibly contian it in the worst case scenario at least until they manage to deal with the Lich King.

What no body expected was for all those people send and drawn to the whirlwind of time and space to grow chaotic and suddenly expand, swallowing all who were send to explore the area and attempt to contian it. Some were thorn to shreds by the torrents of time and space, some aged within moments and turn to dust or some simply grown younger until they vanish into nothingness. Finally there are those who are thrown out on the other end of the error in reality. Alone and stranded at unknown location they have to explore and survive their new situation, all the while learn why this all happened.

So greetings fellow Warcraft fans. I assume if you've read so far into the Rp that some degree of interest sparks in your mind. This is going to be a RP set into the setting of Warcraft. I assume most are relatively familiar to some degree with World of Warcraft. Some basic knowledge for the setting of the world would be well met, but I will not require complete intimate knowledge with all aspects of the setting and hte world and all quests in the MMO. Hell I myself do not know all the WoW stuff. As you could read from the intro brief earlier, the RP will begin during the Warth of the Lich King expansion. Now, that mentioned the RP itself will actually take place 10,000 years earlier during the First Great War with the Burning Legion! We are returning back to the time of the Empire of the Night Elves, under the ruling of Queen Azshara! To the time before the Sundering that split the world into the continents known to all! Now with people the fates of whom shouldn't intertwine with the events of the past, the fate of the future is uncertain. But most important of all The Burning Crusade is about to arrive and this time around the only future possible might be oblivion!

With this explained so far and from the title of the RP, some of you might notice the fact that it's more or less the premise of the books who carry the same name Warcraft: War of the Ancients. Yes I'm drawing heavy inspiration and basing the RP on that, but this could be sort of considered a close AU RP. Many events from the books might repeat, some might not and will not happen at all.

Overview

Setting: Old Kalimdor
Time Frame: Think standard Warcraft but in a world dominated by Night Elves.( roughly 10,000 years prior the events of Warcraft 3)
Technology Level: Alright most people should know warcraft drill of technology level, but No gunpowder or great steam machinery. Unless it's brought by the character with them of course.
Starting Season: Spring
Magic Availability: Yes( holy, druidic, shamanistic, fel/demonic, runic)

Rules

  • No godmodding
  • No arguments within the OOC. Sort this out through PMs.
  • All decisions will pass by me and while I will be opened to discussion, I have the final say.
  • If you need to vanish for a while that is fine, just leave a message and tag me in it so I don't miss it by any chance. We will discuss it from there.
  • Also no tags from the players within the IC posts. Tags will be used only by me in story updates posts and so forth. I’ve noticed people tend to not read the posts they aren’t tagged in if tags are being in use. I need everyone to read all the posts that happen. Tags with the story update posts are mostly to inform you that the story update is up.
  • The Char section is only for accepted characters, do not post chars there without first them being approved.
  • Do not submit WIP's - Final CS's only.
  • Change color code to one not in use.
  • Remove the "." in the [hr.] code before submitting.
  • NO collabds unless I allow it.
  • Under Extras in the CS write your favorite Warcraft character.
  • All actions using skills must be a called action and will require a GM check to see what the outcome is.
  • You must wait for at least 2 people to post before you can post again.
  • This is not going to be a Romance focused RP, but just in case it happens...
  • Keep Any Romance Pg-13, then fade to black.
  • Do not copy paste pieces of other people's posts, even be it dialoge.
  • Minimal 2 paragraphs per post.
  • I will provide a Header for Posting. Use it, do not post whatever.
  • In order to keep the RP going, this RP will be with posting requirement once per 7 days. After that, on day 8 I will kick you, be warned.
  • Editing to IC posts or CS is not allowed without the GM permission.
  • People will die, be warned. They might be great heroes, but even great heroes die.
  • Results from actions will be rolled by me, but the dice's the one deciding the future in the end.

Available Races

Alrighty below are the major races that would come to mind when thinking of Warcraft with some bonus ones added as the Dryads, Harpies and etc. Point being is if you want something else, run it by me and I will say you if it's possible.
  • All game Races from Wow Wotlk ( except classic forsaken; Only a deathknight as possible undead)
  • Dryads
  • Half-elves( both night and blood variety)
  • Goblins
  • Harpy( Possible, but depends on the character.)
  • Naga
  • Vrykul
  • Etc.

Available Classes

Below are some classes examples that can serve as a guide. There are more besides those, some might be a variation of the ones below or advanced version like how infiltrator and rogues sort of overlap. People's set of skills can be varied and diverse even between similar classes. Other examples of similar classes are knights and blade masters. Both are melee warriors, but yet difference comes from the way they fight and the types of weapons they use. There are other classes aside the WoW ones after all. Dig around the lore or ask me for something you thought up, I will tell you if it's okey.
  • Warrior
  • Archer/Marksman( depending if they use a bow or a gun)
  • Mages( Arcane, fire, frost, other elements etc.)
  • Tinkerer( think inventors who can create mechanical tools and or even puppets)
  • Warlock( Mages who also use demonic magic and can summon demons to serve them)
  • Priest( For example priests of hte Holy Light or priests of Elune)
  • Paladin( always the holy light)
  • Rogue( all manner of sneaky thieves, scouts, spies and assassins.)
  • Hunter
  • Ranger( Usually well versed in archery, stealth, nature and fighting in the wild.)
  • Shaman
  • Death Knight( Doubles also as a race the only undead type I'm going to be allowing.)
  • Alchemist
  • Warden( Only Night Elves.)
  • Druid
  • Demon Hunter( Mostly Night Elves and Blood Elves at this point)
  • Runemaster( Only Dwarves, Vrykul and Tauren)
  • Have something else in mind? Run it by me and we shall see if it can be done.

Character Sheet

Remove the dots from the [hr.] and replace the ???? with the color code you wish to use. Standard white is for the NPCs I will be controlling whenever the need arises so it’s not for use by players.

@rivaan My idea was for a Paladin, but that said I only played Cata for a year and a hunter; all my Warcraft knowledge comes from voraciously playing through the first three Warcraft RTS games bi-annually and reading whatever short stories and comics are free on the WoW website. Thus for spells, is it fine if I just kit him out with the WC3 Paladin set of spells?

Beyond that, my char idea was for a guy who's family is from Gilneas but a Kul'Tiran father, he would have experienced the WC3 events fighting with the Kul'Tirans Marines for the Silver Hand in general until the point in time Admiral Daelin (who did nothing wrong) was killed. Then he would have returned to Gilneas where he would presumably become a Worgen.

@rivaan So, I was thinking about my death knight. I just have two simple questions:

1.Would you prefer a classical male deathknight, or would it be possible to make a female?

2.I saw some deathknights who are other "races", like an Orc one or a wood elf one. Would you want me to be a standard "human" deathknight, or would it be possible to be a sub-one where one of the other races became said deathknight? Just, to make sure i'm not breaching the realm of the roleplay parameters.

@Andreyich Works I like hte wc3 kit it's epic. paladins in wc3 to me are the most horrifying thing to see lol.

@Jaredthefox92 It's fine with female or male deathknight all good on either way. My main problem was with let's say gnomes who let's be super honest just do not rock the deathknight feel. Personally I feel a gnome deathknight is like a gimick joke thing lol. Some people might disagree, that's their right. I just odn't like that.

@rivaan

I see, so you would like a "human" deathknight? I could work with that, I was honestly thinking a former elf, but hey human(ish) can work too. It's all the same in the end with class archetype anyways.

Alright, I was thinking a former female night elf, but with the complete makeover of being a Deathknight. So basically, she would only be elf with the ears and all.

@Jaredthefox92 Perfect!
On that note my own character would be posted tomorrow at some point so that could also serve as a guide when it's up. ^^

@rivaan Alright, I'll more than likely post my CS once I see how the others go.

Oh, and I may 86 an elf, mostly because the name I have would be human. I was thinking the name Scylla, but if it's too real life and Greek I can just come up with another name.

@Jaredthefox92 I won't be too nitpicky about the names unless they are too wtf and this sounds good. Given other types of names floating about the warcraft universe.

I see no mention of Arcane magic as available. Are normal Arcane wielding magic users allowed?
Edit: also do we -have- to allocate the whole 85 points for stats?
Also What in the character sheet under psychological traits does the "Trait *" mean?

@Rockerman403 to answer those questions in sequence: For the purpose of this RP pure arcane magic falls under the Mage field of study. This also include the elemental spells such as firebolt, blizzard and so on or something non elemental like let's say polymorph and so on. So yeah normal Arcane magic users are okey.
Well you do not have to allocate all 85 points, but they represent a really trained character and stuff. you can put less if you wish but you might find yourself weaker than some others.
For the psychological traits think: Venguful, kind, friendnly, patient, sarcastic, etc etc etc... personality traits lol.
And no necromancers allowed for a really simple reason. There are no necromancers outside of the forces of the lich king. You could be negative mean or even 'evil' character, but at the end of the day, a necromancer serves only the lich king.

So i notice it states no magically enhanced items. Would you count a Polearm that has been enchanted simply to act as a magical focus as magical? it has no inherent properties other than acting as a staff or wand might. @rivaan

@Rockerman403 Fine, I will allow this. No magical properties aside that however. Also just to be on the same page, a staff is not obligatory for a spell user. You can still cast normally without a staff. It will just be a slight bonus thing to have a focus.

And no its nothing special or amazing. Its just that a point for this character is his use of a Mirthril Polearm the he had enchanted as a focus for his magic because his skill level is lower. So its realistically a crutch as opposed to a bonus. Its an important part of the character and plays into his history and training in magic. Thats the only reason im adamant about it.

@Rockerman403k you can weave that into the CS with the strenghts and weaknesses section at the initial part of the CS. ^^
