So far I'm looking to tie together the "business world" and tech sides of one of these games, just as other people in the past have looked to establish the "magic/magick/magik" side of these universes.

I've always liked how each of the most brilliant minds of the Marvel and DC Universes have kind of had their own corners of expertise and their own differences which have made them their own people. From Pym's instability, to Reed Richards insatiable need for knowledge and discovery.

Ted Kord's genius has seldom really defined him in most works and he's often a Batman-Lite business head/gimmick inventor who has amazing potential and has had issues of focus which have been his biggest obstacle when discovering that potential. He's almost "too human" to be the person he could really be. So I wanted to explore why that's the case, and wanted to give Ted something that other geniuses don't tend to have in order to better differentiate his mind from other Marvel/DC geniuses... hence the perfect eidetic/photographic memory thing.

In terms of influences, I've probably poached and pinched a bit from a lot of the previous similar games in the past. The L-Pad reference in the first post quite blatantly came from one (or many) of @AndyC's runs on Superman in the past, which I expanded out with naming it's video chat software as LLL. A lot of this will be reflecting back other events in the business side of this combined universe as we saw with how @Sep's Iron Man stuff has directly impacted K.O.R.D. The character of Mike Ross from Suits will impact a lot of what's come with Ted's perfect memory and using a brilliant but raw mind to dominate a new profession as well as my own class clown experiences in my own schooling, which probably impacted my decisions far more than I'm even willing to admit.

I'm stealing from everywhere! Even obscure places you wouldn't think about! I'm taking it! It's like an homage only more blatant and hacky!

Honestly, you, me, @Inkarnate, and @Sep could probably afford to have a chat at some point about the nature of the competition between our tech moguls -- Osborn vs. Kord vs. Luthor vs. Stark, and that.

Sorry about disappearing, life got crazy. Essentially my schedule has drastically changed and I don't feel like I have the time for a roleplay as in depth as this. My apologies but I must withdraw from this roleplay as such. Whoever wants to use any of my characters can now do so.

Does anyone have any designs on Sportsmaster? I've got an idea or two for him, but I figured I'd give someone else the chance to snap him up first.

Damn there goes my plan for my evil multiverse destroying mastermind

Should have a post up tomorrow as long as I finish my CAH post as well.

Also if any of the cosmic heroes want to have a run in with the Guardians at some point let me know. Lots of craziness coming from this story

Well we're almost a week into the IC and already on our third page so out of curiosity, what are the driving factors and influences in your story?

Well, Kingdom Come is the most obvious influence-- despite my utter loathing of present-day Mark Waid and everything he stands for, his book is still one of my absolute favorite stories. Apart from that, I've wanted to do an "Old Man Logan" sort of take on Clark for a while now, and frankly over the last couple of years I've become pretty bitter and disillusioned toward the state of the cape-and-tights industry and fandom, so I figured I'd take a shot at it while I'm in this particular state of mind. Some of the grumpy-old-man Clint Eastwood movies definitely have some influence on what I've got in mind, especially Gran Torino. And probably the biggest influence once the arc actually gets moving is Grant Morrison's Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery.

The parallel-universe angle also means I can do that without overriding what Gowi wants to do with Kara, so I can tell this sort of self-contained story, an ending while everyone else's stories are beginning. I have ideas for if I want Old Clark to stick around past one season, but I'm going into it with the mentality that this'll be a one-shot.

Since the Shazam mythos wasn't available, I'm taking elements of Mar-Vell and Carol along with thematic aspects of both BattleStar Galactica and Guardians of the Galaxy to create my Billy Batson space opera.

My main inspiration is the Arrowverse, obviously, leaning more to the light-hearted tone of Legends while having overarching baddies who will be a little more personal then how Legends tend to pick a random big bad who tends to be easily defeated right at the end only causing issues which bring about the next season. The stories in and of themselves are more or less what I feel like doing at whatever time I start writing but the majority of the main baddies I have plans for that, as I don't read many comics more or less going off of shows movies and games, so I have no idea if they resemble any actual storylines. There are random ideas for heist hijinks and the occasional idea pops into my head that would be akin to being Macguyver or Scorpion-esque sort of things. Really any inspiration I take is all over the place depending on what I want for a particular side A plotline during an episode. side B plots will always tend to be the overarching seasons story and those are stuff I came up with and probably have some inspiration from somewhere but I have no idea where it'd be coming from as my mind tends to be a mess as can be seen by my rambling paragraph where I said a lot of things yet nothing at the same time. It comes and goes in phases but I definitely will not let myself write out a post in this fashion as it would be so weird and out there even for my normal levels of weird. Anyway, I'm gonna stop while my mind is on the idea of stopping. Sorry for the weird post.

After my first intro post, I’ll summarise what my main inspirations are for Static. I’m using the Static cartoon , the original Milestone comics and the Infamous series for my main source of inspiration.

Well we're almost a week into the IC and already on our third page so out of curiosity, what are the driving factors and influences in your story?

The biggest crux of the foreground of my story with Kara comes from the miniseries Being Super from Mariko Tamaki and Joelle Jones. Other influences are undoubtedly present – some of which from past ideas I’ve had with the character (Kara in college with the niece of Lex Luthor, a coming of age conceptualization of Supergirl, and my Battlestar Galactica influences in the Kryptonian corner are just a few examples of this). Other [non-original] concepts are drawn from other comics including Spider-Gwen and pretty much all of the parts of Supergirl I’ve enjoyed reading from 1997 to 2018. Also American Alien because that comic just fucking ruled in general.

The only thing I can safely say that is not an influence is me is the godawful CW/CBS show.

As for driving factors? I want to paint a more “nerd chic” version of Kara while keeping her definitive personality traits. I want her characterization to fall somewhere between Kara Zor-El on Justice League: The Animated Series and the ideas planted by modern interpretations of the Gwen Stacy character in Spider-Man. I want to tell stories that cover an interesting angle on the kryptonian end, develop Metropolis in a different but interesting way, and write my favorite comic book character with due diligence and passion. I guess I really just want to tell a story that everyone finds fun to read.

A lot of my personal influences on the Captain America story aren't necessarily as rooted in the comics, as I just never really followed his solo outings. That being said, the influences on the character that I've been working on have been a cross between the initial idea behind his run in Ultimates and the current MCU depiction by Chris Evans. I want to toy with the idea of a Captain America that is much more a proper "soldier" who uses lethal force against threats and follows orders, but for the character to start coming into his own in the way MCU's Cap does. While I don't believe I'll be telling these sorts of stories, I love the complications and development of Steve Rogers in Englehart's Secret Empire storyline, Gruenwald's "No More!" run, and of course Brubaker's "Winter Soldier" run.

In the larger, grand-scheme of things, a lot of my non-comic inspiration from the character comes from war films from the 1940s to the present, while also tossing in the flavor of spy dramas for good fun. I find placing Cap in a world where he just punches Nazis isn't as fun as placing him in a world filled with mysteries, conspiracies, and moral grayness. I don't want to list off some of the films I'm using as inspiration, as they may give away the plans for this first arc and subsequent arcs.

Ya boi Uni's back after a long (see: not at all long) absence.

Oh and since I don't wanna double post I'll just edit this in here...

If you read my sheet then you already know that I'm inspired by Devil May Cry (more specifically the third game), though of course I'm taking some things from the Blade movies and a few from suggestions I got from people (see: Frank Drake being introduced in this post thanks to Ink suggesting I use him as a supporting character). I'm also tapping into my Punisher run in UOU for all that action and shit.

Anyway, think of it this way: if everyone else's posts are TV dramas that you tune in every week to see what happens to the characters, then my posts are that goofy action anime you tune into when you wanna turn your brain off. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel or whatever, I'm just looking to give you all entertaining posts.
