Nathan was wondering if he should figure out if he floated in water by trying to cross the puddle when the Bird Pokémon came into view. He didn't notice Jerri's brief stare at him but if he did he wouldn't have bothered making her worry even more. "Crap, for those of you who don't know Flying-type moves are twice as effective against me. I'm gonna be even less helpful then during the last fight, if they're also Ghost-types."

Nathan hoped that this world was different enough from the games he was somewhat familiar with that improvising worked as otherwise he was gonna stay helpless for a long time thanks to the impossible Ghost-typing he had seen before. He did have something in mind that seemed relatively simple to pull if and was super effective if it worked but he had no evidence that it would. "Now I do have one idea, but I have no idea if it'll work ."

Celina

When Celina saw the pelican, she frown.. this was really bad. That innocent pokemon was being attacked by probably more of those ghosts in this case. She though about it a bit. Was it better for the group to hide, or instead try to save that bird. She felt like she needed to help here, because considering it was another bird, she could maybe learn something from her or him. She though about it a bit. How to help though.. how to go and help that pokemon. One though came to her mind. Sing... she felt like she needed to try to sing. She did remember that swablu could learn that... she needed to try.

She tried to mvoe quickly to get closer and then tried to sing, going closer to a lullaby tune as she sings, trying to tire out the flock and get them to stop attacking. She was not close enough to just get attacked, but she was close enough to try to get them to hear the tune. If they turned around and tried to attack her, she would be able to fly quickly to get away. At least she hoped so. The group probably could help and if they would get in the cave, those birds would not be able to fly up much in that cave and would probably be able to get hit by the others of the group. So she kept trying to sing, trying to make those birds tired and trying to save that Pelipper right now. Maybe one of those berries would help him if they were able to defeat that flock.

Ravi

Since they all needed to prepare for high stake situations, he put his thoughts on the backburner to let them simmer. They’ve been vulnerable to attack once already and it was fortunate enough for them that it was only a single foe. But what if that was just the beginning? Ravi turned his head around towards the others as Jeri exclaimed they worked together, showing off his sly grin and speaking the same energetic tone. His inadvertently sinister vibes slipped in with his excitement. “Yesss! Nobody needs to fight alone and sssuccumb to an early demise.”

Seemingly not to be undone in awkwardness, Ravi watched Trevor eating charred sticks from the smoldering remains of the fire. Ravi shook his head a bit in disapproval. Disregarding what that might do to their digestive system, it didn’t seem to lead to an effective result. Having a grasp of what he wanted to do, he slithered over and offered up a friendly suggestion. “If you’re trying to breathe fire, maybe you just need to trick yourself in feeling a sense of danger. If pokemon are anything like humans and animals, our survival instincts could potentially make us more proficient. Of course, that’sss simple ssspeculation.” As Ravi circled Trevor, but he kept out of his personal space, albeit just barely. ”Might I recommend that we train through mock battles between usss? It would be the safest and most effective method. We could even have others observing to step in if it goes too far.”

But tensions put his advice on hold once others started expressing their concerns of what had been going on outside. Something up in the sky? Ravi quickly went toward the entrance and peered up through the rain. He wasn’t even able to see the other pokemon being swarmed by a murder of crows. But they still appeared hostile as Ravi frowned and only grew more nervous at the sight of Celina flying towards them. Unconsciously calling out for her. “Come back! There’s too many of them!”

There was too many elements that could go wrong. They didn’t know the strength or level differences between them. The wind would be louder the higher she climbed and strong enough that it could impede her ability to retreat. Not knowing her moveset or what she intended to do, but he figured it had to be something other than merely fighting. Regardless of what she intended to do, it was not an ideal situation to charge in alone. If they faced them at ground level inside the cave, they’d have better numbers and odds to fight them off. Now it seemed less likely that she’d be able to rush back in, so the group could lay low and stay hidden until they left.

Well, there was nothing she could say that could discredit her theory. The ghost type laughed in a decidedly creepy fashion, unable to contain a bit of amusement from scaring the Swablu. She indeed, fed off peoples emotions. Fear, it seemed and it was even sweet tasting. Hm. Maybe she should keep that to herself for now, huhu. No sense in informing other people about it. Might make it harder to actually get food if they knew that's what she was doing.

Hm.

"Well," Floating over to Jeri, Vi latched herself onto the dunsparce's back briefly to anchor herself. "I seem to have a ranged psychic attack of some sort. I used it last night on that one that tried to get into the cave. Worked well enough." Everyone seemed fairly eager to head off out of the cave. A fine idea, but one Vi wasn't particularly too keen on for now...but she also wasn't particularly keen on being alone in the cave, either. She was confident she could handle herself, but on the off chance she couldn't, well...

"I'm going to see if I can work on not being so...light and maybe flex my psychic muscles a bit. Being blown around by a gust of wind is more dangerous than anything else for me right now." She released the Dunsparce's back, floating over the water and attempting to test her range of motion whilst trying to get a better feel for her little psychic type attack. Maybe once she got a better feel for it, she could try doing something else with it.

Jeri

Jeri felt a little bit of a chill as the ghost latched onto her, like a single shiver running up her... spine? She probably had a spine... The Dunsparce watched a few of her teammates approach the giant, certainly cold puddle and sighed. Camping is fun when you expect it, but it sucks to be suddenly dropped into a dangerous wilderness. Jeri took in a breath to brace herself before testing out the water.

But before she could do that, Ravi yelled out. Jeri looked up to see Celina rushing toward a swarm of black birds. Zombiemon, maybe?

"Don't be stupid!" Jeri called out, though Celina was probably too high up to even hear her sage advice. Dangit! They hadn't even been awake for ONE hour, and now there might be even more random things trying to kill them? The Dunsparce's drill tail twitched as an indignant rage began to build up inside her.

Jeri looked around her and then back up to the cave.

"The rest of us'll hafta not be morons and stick close together," Jeri huffed. "Try to find cover so you can see them but they can't see you. If they come too close, run back to the cave. Bein' alive is more important than bein' frickin heroes."

The warmth in Trevor’s guts grew a bit as he ate the ash and wood from the fire place. And while the embers didn’t hurt too much, it still tasted like disgusting wood and ash. It wasn’t tasty at all. Still it did feel like he was getting somewhere, with some more fuel he might actually get some sparks to come out. Vi’s test was also revealing some results as she would spot small splashes in the puddle where she focuses her attacks; just like before she didn’t feel anything in particular but would see something g happen in her eyes. Sometimes she could even feel a tinge if a feeling in her head when she tried to use her powers to more finely manipulate something.

In the meantime others were trying to find their way around the large puddle, either by going around or over. Those going around would find the spot where the puddle eventually turns into mud, and while it was a slog to go through it at least wouldn’t run the risk of drowning anyone. Going further than that and they would end up heading downward following the mountain side. But there was little time to find a way across the pond when Celina’s actions took immediate affect.

As she flew closer she’s be able to count at least eight crows attacking the wounded pelican. Her shrill song echoed over the squawking and the rain, and of the eight five started to slow down and eventually landed upon the ground or the trees, struggling to get up as they fell asleep. The remaining three immediately noticed something amiss, and in that moment the pelican lashed out and wounded them. Confused but determined the crows cawwed as two continued their attack on the pelican while one broke off to chase Celina. It came at her fast; even if she turned to run, the Black bird would easily overtake her and attack her exposed back as he gave her a relentless Pursuit.

In the same skirmish the crows managed to force the larger pelican into a crash landing near the cave entrance, grounding it with enough force to make a loud thud. The crows wasted no time immediately pouncing in the body to finish the job themselves, but in this brief moment the Pokémon hidden near the cave had a choice: they could continue to hide seeing that these crows intended to deal with the pelican first and foremost. Or they could try and launch their own sneak attack on the birds, who were low enough for most of them to try and get an attack on.

Unlike the unusual beaver from yesterday, these crows did not seem to be greyscale or monochromatic. While they had mainly black feathers and red eyes, they had yellow beaks and legs. They were, as far as Pokémon could go, “normal” looking. The pelican itself was a big white bird with an equally huge yellow beak, though it’s feathers were not stained with red blood. It seemed to be trying to struggle against the crows with feeble kicks that couldn’t land a single blow.

Nathan mentally facepalmed when Celina started to sing, best case scenario all the Murkrow fell asleep worst case they were out of hearing range and all the former humans were the ones who ended up asleep leaving her to fight on her own.

At least it quickly turned out that the worst case wasn't gonna happen as he didn't feel sleepy and apparently neither did any of the others. Still three of them remained conscious and ended up fighting both Celina and the Peliper on the ground. Finally remembering that Murkrow are Dark type and realizing his plan wouldn't work even if he could somehow use an attack Seedot don't learn Nathan no longer had any clue what to do.

It was probably too late to follow the Dunsparce's plan and hide and while he wanted to help in the fight he had no idea how. In the end he did the only thing he could think and brazed himself for a possible attack from one of the Flying-type Pokémon.

Celina

Now this... may have been a mistake. She may have acted too fast there. She did take out 5 of them right there, but 3 of them were left... and the pelican pokemon fell down near the cave. If those 2 birds were to finish that guy, then she might end up having issues. She though about it a bit, seeing the other bird going straight for her before she tried again to sing and try to make that one fall down like the rest. It was probably stronger then her, so she needed to try to take it out in another way... Maybe it was a mistake doing this... but she felt like that pelican could help them. She just hoped that he would be nice and wont cause the group even more issues or anything right now. Last thing they needed was saving someone that was causing issues. And anyway, those crows didnt seem to be the nice type of pokemons. And god knows also that she may have taken a huge risk doing this, but if the group were to survive here, they needed to train up, and if we could beat up those jerks, then it would probably help the group. She just hoped that this sign move would work. If not she would need to fight as best as she could, that is for sure.

Lance

Though Lance had no intention of rushing into this conflict, it seemed that Celina did. To her credit, though, she did manage to incapacitate all but three. The pelican, along with two of its pursuers, landed near the entrance to the cave. Lance let out a sigh. At this point, there was no avoiding a fight. "Let's get back to the cave, Trevor. Try not to let them see you." With that, he began making his way back, ducking behind rocks and trying to stay hidden. As the birds were close to the ground, it should be easy enough to hit them before they flew out of his reach, as long as they weren't ghosts like that beaver from before. All he had to do was catch them off guard.

Ravi

Ravi assessed the unfolding situation, laying low and still as tension tingled from tongue to tail. “Okay, only one's coming. And it's getting closer. What should I do? What should I say? If we can get that bird off our backs and flee, that would be the least risky to our team's safety...I think...”

While primarily focusing on the skies at the edge of the entrance, he was still listening to his surroundings. Everyone else seemed prepared for the initial fight, but the rest remained ambiguous between what each member considered moral and safe. Realizing that Celina had charged in to save the other pokemon. It was alive, but helpless by itself. Should they willfully let it perish? Would that be something he could stomach? Speaking up in calculated tone to clarify that this needed to be a unified decision. “When it nears the ground, I should be fast enough to attack first. I’ll wrap around its body and make it unable to escape. Then you all can follow up with attacks wherever its exposed. But we need to unanimously decide if we’re going to try to help defeat the other hostiles. It will be our best chance if we swarm them now. But if even one of us stays behind, we’ll all be in grave danger.”

It was a definite risk either way and he didn’t possess the coldness, nor courage to sway his members one way or another. Believing whatever choice they made would be correct and executed by Ravi without hesitation.

As Trevor was trying to go around the puddle, he heard some sort of commotion coming from behind him. Seems like his friends were getting into a fight, and, of course, Trevor wanted to help them out as much as he could. He ran as fast he could back to the cave entrance, where Celina, Lance, Ravi, and Nathan already were... of course, there were also a few OTHER birds, three murkrow, and a pelliper, specifically, though it seemed like the pelliper was non-hostile, and was beat up. Lance seemed to suggest we head back to the cave, but he couldn't just leave anyone behind like that. "Sorry Lance, but I think we should fight. It'll give us a chance to use our new moves... speaking of which, where's Jeri? I just remembered something about her species that might come in handy," Trevor said as he prepared to fight them alongside... well... hopefully everyone else. If Trevor was right, Jeri was probably on the verge of learning a rock-type move called 'Rollout', one that won't start too powerful, unfortunately. However, at this 'level', any super-effective move would be appreciated. Trevor focused, and thought about using Ember on the enemy as soon as he could, though, since some were apparently still airborne, that wasn't really going to happen.

Well this was a predicament. Seems some of the others went off and tried to play hero. Something Vi herself, was not going to be having any part of until she was more confident in her abilities. Abilities of which seemed to be fairly annoyingly elusive. Her small tests didn't seem to be very enlightening. A few twinges of feeling if she tried to finely manipulate something, but otherwise once again, no sensory feedback. Made it rather difficult to tell how something was going if she couldn't actually feel anything.

Still...hm. If they needed to ambush one of them...hm, she could at least draw those birds attention.

"If its a sneak attack we need - leave it to this little ghost. I'll distract them for ya so you can ambush 'em." Vi said, before swiftly moving along the ground, her natural ability to levitate above the ground made it extremely easy to stay silent. She really should see if she could just phase through walls and stuff soon, but for now she focused on circling around the Murkrow. Once on the opposite side that Trevor and Ravi were approaching, she approached.

"SKREEEEE!~" With a loud, shrill screech directed towards one of the birds, she attempted to get their attention on her, and at least off of the larger pelican.

Jeri

Jeri's heart raced as everyone began to call for battle against the black birds. Whether it was from anxiety or excitement, she did not know, but either way she did her best to maintain a focused expression. After all, these were just a few stupid birds. They couldn't be that tough, right?

The Dunsparce noticed some of her allies going for stealth and followed suit, flattening her pancake body as low to the ground as possible while she slithered toward the enemies. She nodded in acknowledgement as Ravi said something about holding the birds down with his snake form. It seemed like a decent strategy to Jeri, and she silently prepared to pounce on the other one, hoping she'd be able to do the same at least for a few seconds.

...That is, until the ghost wailed a screech that might've traveled all the way to Earth and woken up their families there.

"GUH-- jeez-- huAAAAUUUUGHHH!!"

The time for hesitation had passed, and with a battle cry the rattled Dunsparce rushed headlong toward one of the black birds that was attacking the white bird. All pretense of holding it down flew out the window as Jeri thrashed at the crow in a blind rage. She lashed out with her tail, trying to bludgeon the creature's wings. Or skull. Wherever it happened to land.

"Listen 'ere, ya varmint! This is NOT the day to be screwin' with me! We're gonna beat ya so hard, your ANCESTORS WON'T BE ABLE TO WALK STRAIGHT FOR WEEKS!"

Certainly, the poke crew would be hesitant to engage in a battle again so soon, against multiple enemies who seem more fearsome than the previous opponent. Yet despite that they still moved into optimal positions, some taking the initiative to attack first. Celina flew away from the Murkrow, not quite disengaging but simply moving away from his allies. Sure enough his pursuit struck her first as he dashed towards the smaller cotton bird and slashed her wings with his claws. It was certainly painful; while not lethal the pain would let her know quite well that this world was no dream as blood stained her white wings. Still that didn't stop her song and the murkrow, now close enough to hear it even pass the storm, grew drowsy. He tried to attack Celina again but his eyes grew heavy as he fell to the ground asleep.

Everyone else moved closer, either hidden or immediately launching their attacks. As the murkrows were about to finish off the pelliper, Vi came out of no where and startled one of the murkrows. The other didn't seen to have noticed as he was being bludgeoned by Jeri. They both squawked in surprised, though the one fighting Jeri at least tried to fight back by aggressively slashing at the dunsparce, hoping that she might try to flee so that it could rake her back. Otherwise it simply was flailing at her in between getting struck by her raging blows as well. When Jeri was struck, she would feel her rage build as her own strikes hit harder the more she got hurt, perhaps a simple survival instinct of her kind to become more ferocious in danger. Or something.

As for the others, they could at least observe some things they could take advantage of: first and foremost was that now that the murkrows were being attacked by their allies, they actually have the high ground should they try and attack the dark birds from the entrance of the cave. Secondly, the pelliper didn't seem to be conscious and was in the process of bleeding out from it's wounds. While not dead it was in no condition to offer any aid in fighting back even after distracting the two murkrows. Finally for Trevor himself, the sheer danger of this situation was far greater than the fight that had happened yesterday. Not only were there more enemies but these creatures were surely stronger than the bidoof, and if they didn't hurry the rest of the sleeping swarm may awaken. It was thanks to this atmosphere of violence that made his body uncomfortably hot even as it was being soaked by the constant rain. A new fire had awaken in his body and almost instinctively, he could feel it wanting to come out.

Despite Nathan bracing himself the attack he was waiting for didn't come. Looking around he quickly realized why, both the non-sleeping Murkrow were occupied fighting his allies. In that case he couldn't just stand idly and when he saw Celina's wound his mind was made up. Despite his own fear of getting attacked. Since he didn't exactly have an attack of his own he would have to improvise.

Copying Jeri he rushed at his chosen opponent, but unlike the Dunsparce he didn't try try to bludgeon it with a specific body part. Instead he simply ran into it as fast as his tiny legs could carry him, hoping that the element of surprise would be enough to keep the Bird Pokemon from countering his tackle.

Trevor felt the fire build up inside him despite the rain, and, again, despite the rain, he tried to unleash it on one of the murkrow that was already being damaged. He noticed that the pelliper was pretty badly damaged, to the point where the team would have to use that revive on them. Trevor had hoped he could save it up, but if the group were to save this pelliper, they would need the rare revitalizing diamond-shaped item. Since Trevor was aiming for one of the weaker murkrow, he hoped that his ember attack would finish it off... or, at least, leave it with a nasty burn, and weakened stats until we faint it. I hope we can put more of them to sleep. I mean, Sing's accuracy is kind of garbage, so I'm impressed we managed to hit THIS many with that move, already, but still... Trevor thought as he tried to position himself closer to the cave's entrance.

Ravi displayed a wide smile of confidence as his team began carrying out their attacks. Since they appeared to be normal pokemon, maybe they’d feel just as uncomfortable to get near such a unwittingly eerie presence. He wanted to provide more than moral support, but hesitated in deeper consideration. How could he best assist his team? If his allies were going to lob countless distance attacks before they could approach, which was the most advantageous, it wouldn’t be smart to get in the fray and be caught in the chaos. For now they had the numbers advantage, but none of them feasibly had the experience of group brawling multiple enemies at once, so it increased their chances of friendly fire. Though he wouldn’t dare be pessimistic and assume they were far from a well snake-oiled machine. But he couldn’t help but instinctively feel that going on the offensive was counterproductive. Instead he carefully slithered on the sidelines beside what he deemed the most vulnerable team members and watched carefully to play defense. If one of his teammates stumbled and was in danger of getting attacked, he would be the fastest and have the best range to lunge at the opponent for a counterattack.

It was fantastic that most of the Murkrow had fallen asleep, but who knew how short-lived that would last? In the worst case scenario of them waking up simultaneously, he had a feeling that he’d be able to do something about that to stir mass confusion. Then they’d be safe to escape and live another day!

...Not that he was the least bit worried about that.

Celina guessed that the gods smiled at her rgiht now.. or something like that. With her opponent going to sleep, that gave her some time to help the others. Although she felt the blood on her wings, she knew she had to keep fighting, adrenaline rushing through her. She needed to help that peliper. She breath deeply and tried to quickly move to land while going to sing on those other murkrow, hoping to make them sleep also. God she probably was abusing that move right now, but she didn't care. The group needed to get that pokemon to safety... and with the way she was taking care of those murkrow, it probably will help a lot and make it that the group could deal with a lot of them. And geez, she didn't like the feeling of blood on her wings, feeling where that murkrow hit on her wing. Not for nothing that she had to land. She just hoped that she would still be able to fly quickly to evade any attack coming at her and that the group would help her and protect her if those jerks go to attack her while she lands. One thing for sure, she really didn't like those murkrow.

As Lance crept closer to the cave, the others had already launched their attacks. They appeared to be hitting their targets, at least. This time, their enemies were more than likely not ghosts. Lance had tried to stay hidden up until this point, but now he was close enough to attack, and a few of the birds were likely distracted by the others. He quickly lunged out of hiding and swiped his blade at the bird nearest to him. He hoped that he'd managed to catch it off guard.

Woho, success! Whatever she just did seems to have startled at least one of the birds into inaction. It seemed...somewhat injured, too? Curious. So was this a form of an attack in this world? She'd need to try again. No matter - the bird being startled allowed another pokemon to engage the other without them getting double teamed for now. Now, if she could redo what she did earlier to that beaver thing, this would be easy! As the bird type flinched from her attack, she focused her mind and blasted it with her previously used attack.
