"I'm not sure how things are going to go. But don't forget, we're not alone here. I'm sure my teacher is somewhere in here, also planning on helping us keep things contained inside this tomb. I simply want to get into that antechamber and see if I can get some answers there. After all, there was a boy there who wasn't being attacked by the other pokemon there. I also want to see if that Aegislash has anything to do with all of this." Amelia said to Dawkin, her expression concerned but also very thoughtful.

Regardless She would followed Gengar and Coffigrigus onwards. However, if they went after the army marching outside, she would deviate from them, instead heading into the chamber with the boy, the Aegislash, and a few other bodyguards. Once inside, she would look around a bit before speaking.
"Might I request an audience with whoever is in charge here?" She called out.

This might not be the smartest idea, but she knew brute force might not be the only way to solve this problem.

-------------

Joshua, meanwhile, watched the approaching army calmly. It was mostly grunts and nothing much else. Individually, they weren't really even a blip on his radar. But with the numbers they possessed, they might end up being something of a problem. Luckily, the hall limited the number that could engage his pokemon. Not only that, but an idea occurred to him and he smiled wickedly.
"This might be a good experiment. Greninja, upfront here for a second. Bisharp, Pangoro, move back a bit." He commanded. Once his pokemon were in position, he gave the command. "Greninja use Surf! Absol, use Blizzard!"

With that, Greninja summoned forth a giant wave, which it would proceed to ride down the entire hallway to the crosswalk, unless they were somehow interupted. Absol in the meantime, would gather an orb of cold air in front of his mouth and once Greninja was in the clear, fired it off, causing a strong gust of icy cold wind, snow, and ice to travel down the hallway, freezing any water on the ground and walls, and possibly an stragglers from the wave riding Greninja.

The fisherman was about to answer, closing his eyes and opening his mouth wide, but Eryn stopped him. He then looked at her quizzically, but as it turned out she had made her decision. Instead, he gave a light smirk and refocused on the water. Swampert was continuing to attempt resting while Vaporeon was gazing at Eryn and her little, now one Pokémon larger, gang.

Magikarp was caught!

Gender: ♀
Type: Water
Personality: (Up to player.)
Quirks/Talents/Aspirations/Other: (Up to player.)
Level: 5
Moves: Splash
Ability: Rattled. Boosts speed if hit by a Dark, Bug or Ghost-type move.
Held Item: None.

New Pokémon caught! Eryn earned 500 P!

Would you like to give a nickname to Magikarp?

And yes, she did.

A note on water-only Pokémon. In order to make them not extremely circumstantial to use, upon exiting their Pokéballs they’re surrounded a small bubble of water that floats in mid-air and allow them to swim about over solid ground. This bubble only interacts with the water-Pokémon itself, meaning it doesn’t protect them from physical harm and they can’t suffocate anyone in the bubble. They can only hover a reasonable height from the ground, preventing them from flying over ground-based Pokémon. This is all for the convenience to be able to use them in proper battles.

Eryn offered the rod back to the fisherman.

‘Huff. You’re free to have it if you want, we have lots of extra to give to possible fishing enthusiasts. But if you feel it’ll only take up space, I can take it back,’ he replied, and would take the rod if Eryn was still set on giving it back after that, otherwise he’d let her have it. He’d then raise an eyebrow at that she apparently wanted his contact info, somewhat surprised.

‘Huh. Alright. I’m Darryl, and I’m most commonly found… just about here and Pureplain, if you want to find me. Sometimes I go on trips to the oceans of Fairsea, but that’s about it,’ he told her, handing over his contact information. After that, they said their goodbyes, Darryl wishing her good luck on her journey, Swampert grunting something and Vaporeon giving a bit of a happy call that translated to “thanks for making the evening slightly interesting”. With that, Eryn moved on towards the Infested Woods.

The Infested Woods loomed ahead, the trees tight and between all the dark trees in the night she could see… light?

Erza started training Growlithe and luckily started out fighting two Bellsprouts, who only had Vine Whip to defend themselves against Growlithe… but then he tried against a Shroomish and got instantly paralyzed by a Stun Spore. After a tackling and biting contest Growlithe was still victorious, though he took some considerable damage and is paralyzed. However, he got something for the effort.

Growlithe grew to level 7! Growlithe learned Ember!

… Hm? There’s something on the ground here, that Erza just happened to walk past during the visit to the forest. It’s a…?

Erza obtained a Shiny Stone!

Curious thing to just find on the forest floor. Regardless. What’s his next action?

Growlithe was a tough boy! And a good one as well. With Erza's command, the fire-type could bring down two bellsprouts in a row without much damage. The trouble came when Erza decided to go against a Shroomish: The little grass type, although not nowhere tough as Growlithe and even being in the disadvantage, knew a status move that paralyzed Growlithe, slowing his movements considerably. Erza and Growlithe held their ground however, with Erza focused on victory against the wild pokémon. After many well-placed bites, the Shroomish finally fell and Growlithe howled in his victory. The boy considered briefly catching the Shroomish but decided against it. He already had some pokémon and had his mind on another grass type that he'd eventually find.

Picking the Growlithe in his arms and caressing the boy on his head, Erza whispered to him:

"You are so strong! I'm really impressed! I will call you back now, alright? We will battle again after we get to another city. I can tell you're really tired..." The pokémon understandably nodded even though it really wanted to keep on battling. It was ferocious like a wild beast. Nonetheless, Erza returned him to its pokéball and leaned down to tie his shoes... Some may call it luck and they were probably right, but to Erza, it was his prayer already coming into full effect. There was a strange, glowing yellow stone on the ground. Erza had previously read about evolutionary stones... Well, fire water and leaf stones. That one, he didn't know but it looked quite valuable, so Erza picked it up and moved his backpack from his back to his hands, gently opening it and finding a safe spot to store the Shiny Stone.

Erza obtained a Shiny Stone!

After that, the boy carefully picked a pokémon egg from his backpack, holding it up so he could look at it. He wondered how long it would take for that thing to hatch; from what he knew about breeding, which wasn't much, different pokémon had different hatching times. The boy exhaled softly before placing the egg back to his backpack, there was absolutely no signs that it would hatch anytime soon.

Now, it was time to keep moving, but Erza was missing someone's company...

In a flash of red light, the brown-furred little pokémon came out of it's pokéball with an excited "Vee!" And without second thought, the creature leaped from the ground into Erza's shoulder, who stood up immediatelly after with a light chuckle.

"Alright, Vee. We're kinda deep into this place, I think... so we should move quickly. But that doesn't mean we can't have some fun in the way, yeah?"

Eryn Montero

Route 2 || Night

While Eryn didn’t see herself actively reaching for a fishing rod in the future, she didn’t mind the extra tool in her backpack even if it stuck out at an awkward angle no matter how she strapped it to her bag. Nevertheless, she had a broad grin on her face as she thanked Darryl, promising to call him when she passed through Fairsee in the far—or near—future.

The outer Infested Woods were, much to Eryn’s surprise, a beacon much brighter than Dei’s in the darkness. Gold lit the leaves and elevated them to ethereal status, reflecting off the puddles off the ground and turning them into pools of molten light that failed to lose their luster even after Eryn was close enough to identify the source of the glows.

“Volbeats, right.” Eryn snapped her Pokedex close, tucking it away to return her hand to Tulu’s flank. “There’s so many… Wonder if there’s an Illumise nearby?” Eryn paused, spotting the strange, cluster-like shapes the Volbeat streams were outlining in the sky. “Huh, weird.”

A growl from Dei prompted Eryn out of her upwards stare, and she looked ahead to spot a few figures bathed in golden light. Trainers armed with nets and… couples and families. Here to enjoy the show, it seemed, and Erin couldn't blame them.

“Well, wasn’t expecting a mob of Volbeats when I headed here,” Eryn said, waving at a net-armed trainer as she approached, Dei and Kylie in tow. “Do you know what’s up with the formations? Why the shapes?” The bug-type enthusiast seemed as good a person as any to ask about the Volbeats’ strange behavior.

“Also, are any of you planning on heading deeper into the woods? I was hoping to see whether the rumors I heard about ghosts in the woods had any merit,” Eryn explained with a grin. No harm in trying to get some more manpower when heading into the dark, she figured, and there was no better group of people to tag along with in the literal Infested Woods.

If the Bug Catchers aren’t planning on heading deeper into the forest, Eryn will head in directly. If the Bug Catchers are planning on heading in, Eryn will tag along, waiting for them if required. Should she be made to wait, Eryn will look around for some bug-types other than Volbeats to train on, having Dei Ember them and Kylie support with Growls in the back. If either of her Pokemon fall below 50% in health, she’ll heal at the hut before heading deeper into the woods.

Celebrity wandered over, leaving Vivia and Venonat sleeping soundly on the forest floor…

In any case! Battle time! Paradise VS Budew!

‘Type-advantage, eh,’ Earl smirked a bit. ‘Okay, time for a test,’ Earl remarked, before taking out a potion and handing it to Budew, who drank it so happily…

Earl used Volt Tackle Potion!
Electric-type was added to Budew!
Budew’s Defense harshly fell!
Budew’s Special Defense fell!
Budew was Paralyzed!
Budew became Confused!
Budew learned Volt Tackle Imitation!

‘Budeeeeeeeew…!’ Budew spun a bit on the spot due to the horrific taste, not to mention all the other effects that happened from the yellow substance it had to experience. Regardless, it not spun to face Paradise, who just finished up the Growth she had charged. A bolt of electricity arced around the Budew that most assuredly shouldn’t be an electric-type.

‘That should equal it out… a little,’ Earl considered. ‘Hm, I still have some things to work on,’ he commented looking at his dizzy and paralyzed Pokémon. ‘Eh, regardless. Budew, Volt Tackle!’ Earl smirked as he commanded.

‘BuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUD!’ And Budew charged electricity to charge…! … Except due to Paralyzation, Paradise blew out her Gust first, causing Budew to stumble. But then Budew was away, storming forth as an electric bolt intent on doing a Volt Tackle Imitation! … And promptly ran headfirst into a tree! Budew hurt itself in its confusion! Then Paradise could do another Gust, and Budew promptly fainted. Budew lost the electric sparks upon fainting. It forgot Volt Tackle Imitation.

‘Hm. Well. Yeah,’ Earl remarked. ‘There are a few tweaks I need ironed out. Oh, well. Suppose I’m better off battling normally for now.’

With that, he does have a couple more Pokémon…

Qwerty was totally winning, but regardless Valen’s fears won over and he ran off. Growlithe, satisfied at having fought off the invader, let off a proud growl and let him get away. Got away successfully!

… And then he ran across the entire route, possibly making other trainers wonder what he was fleeing from with such terror on Route 1. He may have caused a rumor claiming the ferocious beast that was once known to wander the plains of Pureplain had returned, albeit nobody could confirm to have seen it… Regardless, nobody stopped him and eventually…

When Valen finally arrived to Highhill town, he took a moment to catch his breath (he had run quite the distance from the sheer adrenaline rush of the encounter) and admire the beauty.

Though it was nighttime and the shining sun couldn't complement the usual bustle of busy people and pokemon alike, the dark didn't mar the town's beauty in the least. Quaint paper lanters with friendly, orange glows peppered the surroundings of the town, the cheerful illumination not allowing it to get too dark. Bountiful fields rested all around, and though it was difficult to see details of the local flora from a distance, Valen was noticing plenty of blooming, aromatic wildflowers as he strolled through. To the east, the lake shown like a black glass mirror, reflecting silvery moonlight off its surface. The time was just around 8 PM according to the watch, and people weren't going to bed yet. Many were still out, lounging around with pokemon or fellow people alike, rewinding from the day's work. They seemed to be friendly he noted, receving at least a courtesy smile as his eyes met passerby. Valen sighed in content, feeling his heart slow down after taking in his non-flaming, fire pokemon free-zone, safe surroundings.

Pokemon needing to be tended to, Valen found the center first--and easily enough--by the tell-tale, red dome roof. Once they were healed and he had exited the premises, he decided to spruce up some conversation with someone about Highhill. True, he could have done an internet search or the like on the PC, and that would have been his usual style. But feeling relaxed in the pleasant atmosphere was encouraging him to go out of his comfort zone.

Heading up to some people hanging around a shop, Valen greeted them. "Hey there. How goes it? I'm a traveling trainer, Valen. This is probably kinda abrupt but I'm just trying to learn about Highhill and talk to people." He ducked his head sheepishly, kicking at the ground, feeling like a huge dork. He was so awkward about conversation. Why had he decided to do this again? Well it was much too late to change his mind.

"This sure is a pretty town, and I hope you wouldn't mind telling me more about it. I mean, I know a little but is there anything specifically about Highhill that I should check out? Like... the local pokemon or something? Do you know species show up around here or maybe in the fields?" His nerves made questions tumble out of him one after another, but hopefully the local folks would go easy on him.

After they answered that question, and they talked a bit more, he would inevitably ask something like, "Cool, thanks, any other rumors floating around that I should know about?"

"Whew," Claire, having just stepped into the valley took a moment to take in the large mountains on either side of her. "Man, I kinda wanna climb that mountain just to say that I did, heh!" She definitely didn't have the right tools to go mountain climbing though. Nor the right pokemon. Maybe if she had a little help from Zeal once he evolved, but that'd still probably be living right on the edge.

Quickly, Claire moved down the pathways, Ralia still sitting on her shoulder as she moved further down the mountain. Lets see...hmm, she wanted to be in a slight hurry, but at the same time not taking a moment to enjoy the views would be rather silly.

Well, a little training wouldn't hurt while doing a bit of exploration.

Budew fainted!

Alright! Skylar was one Pokemon up on Earl. Pretty good start for an early battle, he thought. He had to definitely think of how he was going to proceed though, since Earl didn't just have one Budew to fight Skylar with.

Herbalist Earl sent out Elgyem!

"A Psychic Type, eh?" Skylar pressed his sunglasses up to the bridge of his nose as he figured out his next strategy. He knew what he was going to do, but he just had to execute it well. Could he do it? Only time would tell.

Or maybe some overseeing lord. Arceus, maybe?

Amelia and Dawkin advances into the chamber. It’s a tomb, with all its looming walls and creepy beings. Most of the forces had left by now, leaving but a supplementary force of a three Goletts, two Honedges and one Bronzor behind. However, they quickly parted ways because there were two powerful Pokémon leading the charge, Cofagrigus and Gengar. On the other side of the two great Golurks standing on either side of the opening, the young man with the Aegislash floating above him had just been about to walk back through the opening to do who knows what, but stopped when all of a sudden a new crowd of guests were arriving. He threw a slow look backwards as Amelia spoke up, seeking an audience.

A young man, looking like a normal traveller in his own right. Yet, he stood with a purpose, now turning to face them with an expression devoid of emotion. Behind him floated the Aegislash, glaring over his head at them. The two Golurks stood ready for battle, the one on the left standing with fists closed lightly leaned forward like preparing to charge while the one to the right lightly scratched its chest before also preparing, just in case. The human of them spoke.

‘Your words are irrelevant,’ said the young man. ‘We only need to gather energy enough so it will suffice for a short while. After that, the game will be set to begin in earnest…’ … So he said.

That’s when a voice made itself known, inside both Amelia and Dawkin’s heads.

Do not be fooled! … It was the voice of the young eyepatched girl that had advanced first.

The one before you is a diversion! The master awaits far behind this room, if you exit to either to the left or right and head behind this room! That is, down the right on the map.

The sleeping minds of those behind the Aegislash powers something, but the source isn’t here! This is merely the fuel, the engine awaits further in! You can-

This is where the message suddenly cut, along with a wave of power from Aegislash. Amelia would recognize it. The message had been sent with “spectral power”, the same one Amelia’s able to sense from ghosts around her… and also the same one Aegislash was using to control the ghosts. In fact, she could feel Aegislash and his master was currently focusing on the two powerful ghosts that Amelia and Dawkin had brought with them, trying to spread their influence…

Pokédex Entry #681 – Aegislash, the Royal Sword Pokémon. Generations of kings were attended by these Pokémon, which used their spectral power to manipulate and control people and Pokémon. Apparently, it can detect the innate qualities of leadership. According to legend, whoever it recognizes is destined to become king.

‘Hmpf, how trivial. Why have you come?’ the young man before the Aegislash asked.

Cofagrigus and Gengar are totally prepared to make a move and bust some exes. Amelia just started talking first. They're ready to start moving at a moment's notice, or at anyone's direction.

… Meanwhile, Joshua sealed the opening with a combination of water and ice. It was extremely effective, keeping the ghosts at bay. Still, now that we’ve set up these circumstances, the ghosts were free to multiply their numbers as the next coming waves banded together, wishing to break through… eventually. There were walls of ice to break through, all of a sudden.

Holding up the egg into the air in Silent Forest caused a couple Flabébés to float close and inspect it, curious little fairies inspecting the yet-to-be-born Pokémon. Still, that time passed eventually and it was time to train.

Erza and Eevee trained. This time they could train against Flabébés, too. Seeing how the fairies had better special stats than physical ones, Adaptability did heavy damage to them and Eevee just had to watch for Fairy Winds in return. It went decently well! Eevee could dodge and then attack back numerous times for good measure.

Eevee grew to level 8!

He did get pretty damaged to get to level 8, however. Still, a good effort.

As they trained and advanced, they had an… extremely simple walk in the forest. It rained on them, and they continued walking through the somewhat lantern-lit forest, and nothing happened. Just accompanied by the ever-present silence of the Silent Forest… (You rolled terribly on the “something happening” roll, be it bad or good for you, hah.)

Eventually…

‘Huh?’ Eryn found a bug-catcher who turned and looked at her in surprise at being spoken to. However, when she asked her question he smiled, ready to tell her what he knew. ‘Oooh, that’s the Illumise! See, the Volbeats love the smell the Illumise scatters, so they guide the Volbeats into position with their scent to draw shapes in the sky! We don’t really know why they do it, but it seems to entertain them and it gives us a good show, too!’ the bug-catcher told, enthusiastic on the subject. Then, there was the matter of heading deeper into the woods…

‘Eh,’ The boy started by looking surprised at her. ‘Er, no, we’re not heading in there at night! It gets really dark, and waaay too scary… Ghosts? I-I haven’t heard anything about any ghosts in Infested Woods, there’s enough bug-Pokémon to go around! It’s dangerous in there at night! The warden always tells us not to go in there this late…!’ … He took a moment to consider. ‘… Though, she does. As far as I can tell, she lives in there, somewhere. Huh. … Well, guess she’s an experienced trainer, so she’d be safer than we kids would be…’

Still, no expeditions deeper into Infested Woods during the night. Seeing how she apparently wanted to find a Ghost-type, suppose that means she’s heading in on her own?

Eevee did pretty well. Some battles were tough, while others were quick work. It felt bad winning against the Flabébés - they were after all sort of.. delicate looking, to Erza at least. Shrugging the thought off, Erza felt that he was finally getting somewhere and Eevee seemed a little tired already - it was time to depart. He picked up his speed and, eventually, managed his way to Route 11.

The rain was finally gone and it was a relief to both Erza and Vee, his loyal Eevee. They looked up at the sky with a bright smile and Erza reached out to give the small pokémon a gentle pat on his head, the pokémon replying with a nod and a playful growl-like noise. They began making their way out of the woods and into one of the side roads, Erza curiously looking around. Unlike the forest, there were people here - nearly everywhere in fact. If he was challenged to a trainer battle, at this time, he would stand no chance but Erza would hate to turn down the offer. Rainrock wasn't far away, but climbing his way there with weakened pokémon would be a challenge. He couldn't guess what waited ahead.

In a hasty decision, Erza began sprinting back to Redcoast: Since he was following the route and not nearly lost in some difficult and terribly silent forest, the path there was a breeze. He didn't think twice before making his way to the pokémon center and once there, the boy quickly approached Nurse Joy with all his pokéballs - Vee relucted a little before finally allowing Erza to return him to his pokéball. Then, he asked her to heal them and even specified how Growlithe wasn't not too well because he was paralyzed.

Once his team was healed, Erza decided to rearrange his team. He had caught some cool pokémon but some types weren't clicking well: Meowth and Lilipup were both normal types, which Erza already had in Vee, his ace. He didn't feel any good leaving friends behind, but he promised them that he'd always get back to them here and there. Oh, before moving Meowth to the pokémon PC, Erza unequipped his quick claw and placed it on Eevee.

Then, Erza decided to ask around about a Saffari Zone. He read information about zones were you could not bring your own pokémon, but still could catch pokémon - he even read that some rare pokémon only live within these kind of places. Who knows what he could find out? He possibly might've got some comments about the state of his clothing, but that didn't matter.

Finally, it was time to get back into action. Erza wasn't going to waste time in forests or those kinda places anymore (no, he really would, just not right now) so, with determination placed into his mind, he went back to Route 11. It was time for professional work.

Dawkin Trustram

Dawkin followed warily, feeling perhaps that they were walking into a death trap, but continuing on all the same. The boy on the throne spoke cryptically in response. However the more confusing part, was the voice in his head that followed. The master awaits behind this room? This place was only getting more confusing. Just as quick as the voice appeared, it vanished, seemingly cut off mid sentence. "Maybe we should get these guys to start a fight and slip past to find this 'master'" Dawkin muttered to Amelia, as there was no more discreet method of communication available, simply hoping that it wouldn't anger the Aegislash and friends.

Amelia took the voice speaking in her head in stride, taking in what it said before glancing around the room. She then looked at Dawkin and shook her head.
"No need to instigate what might happen regardless." She said calmly before looking back, not at the boy, but the Aegislash. "I don't need to be talking to your puppet Aegislash. I know you're the one exerting influence over the boy and the other ghosts here. I want you to answer my questions. But just so you know, you're not going to get your way. My master will make sure that none of your army leaves this tomb..."

Up in the hallway, Joshua sneezed.
"Someone's talking about me. Hope it was a compliment." He muttered.

"So, instead of your people getting hurt needlessly, I want to negotiate some sort of peace. You've been in this tomb for a while now. Why are you suddenly attacking people? Humans and pokemon are supposed to work together, not be enemies. Surely you can accomplish whatever it is you're trying to without to need to hurt others. Of course, this is assuming you're goal is righteous and noble, as one who chooses kings, not tyrants, should be."

Meanwhile, Geninja, who had landed on the other side of the ice wall, quickly went to work on dealing with any enemies on the other side, using Double Teams, Water Shurikens, Water Pulses, and Dark Pulses to deal with large groups or enemies at once. Once the ninja frog got far enough to spot Amelia and Dawkin, it would move to their side, using it's exceptional speed stat to reach them in seconds. It would take a knee before Amelia, recognizing the girl as it's master's student before turning to face the Aegislash and it's guards, ready to do battle at a moment's notice to protect the young humans if need be.

Eryn Montero

Route 2: True Infested Woods || Night

The darkness was humid and murky, and Dei’s fire offered Eryn little solace as the bug-catcher’s words ran through her head again. ‘It’s dangerous in there at night,’ he’d said, and her experience moments earlier of almost walking into a nest of Spinarak remained unpleasantly close to her thoughts. By now, she’d revised her plan from training in the deep woods to just popping in and out to get a glimpse of the ghosts she’d heard about. From what she knew, most of the wilds in the woods were bug- and poison-types, neither of which were particularly effective against her Pokemon. That said, she loathed the thought of Dei getting poisoned when they were in the ‘dangerous’ part of the woods, so she figured she’d best save training for the daylight hours. Now, she’d have her Pokemon conserve their strength for emergencies—and cross her fingers that there won’t be any.

The fact that there were ghosts rumoured to haunt the insect-dominated Infested Woods confused her: why would any ghost-type choose to compete with bug-types, especially poison-types that, being nocturnal, often picked up some nasty defensive moves of their own? It didn’t make much sense unless, of course, the ‘ghosts’ she’d heard about weren’t ghosts at all. Maybe, just maybe, the rumours were more than what they seemed.

“Careful!” Eryn hissed, spotting another swath of webs precariously close to where she and her team were trying to traverse.

Hearing her warning, Kylie skirted the obstacle and dusted herself off with a displeased “Maw.” On her other side, Dei growled, his tail flaming brighter for a moment to warn the invisible Spinarak off.

“Awfully dark place. Wonder if the warden actually lives here?” Eryn smoothed her fingers over Tula’s scales as she walked, more to calm herself than anything. Though she’d never been one to be afraid of the dark, she’d have to admit that the woods wore darkness in their own way, and she was thoroughly unsettled. “Well, wherever she is, I hope we find her soon.”

The ‘path’ seemed to grow smaller as the four continued on, the forest eating away with shadows and shrubbery at the road she seemed to be following. Even the ponds seemed menancing, holding unknown promises of slippery mud and treacherous inhabitants. Eryn gave Tula another stroke as she continued on, now hoping she found the warden before she had to turn around and admit the fact that she might very well be lost.

After having fled the horrible beast, he went off to put his Pokémon in the Pokémon Center first.

Then he went off to bother a random villager about the place. Little did he know what was in store for him.

‘Uh-huh? New trainer, eh?’ the man Valen spoke to asked, turning around to face him, adjusting his hat and putting aside a staff he'd been holding. ‘Curious about out little town, huh? Okay, then you're in for the long haul,’ he smirked, grabbed Valen and then put him down on a chair next to him that he hadn't registered existed, and the man sat down there, too. For some reason Valen felt like he wouldn't be able to leave this seat for a long while.

… With that the man stood up and walked, looking exceedingly satisfied. Had Valen survived? He may not have learned what he intended on learning, entirely depends on him.

What's Valen doing now?

Route 14. To the east, the lake known as the Dragon Lake, potentially for crossing.

Claire started training in the Mountain Valley. After some battling, she’d find that the first birds she saw were not in fact the only things with wings that could be found in this area. Depending on how friendly she looked, one of these cotton-winged creatures might just try to sit on her head.

Pokédex Entry #333 – Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokémon. Swablu has light and fluffy wings that are like cottony clouds. This Pokémon is not frightened of people. It lands on the heads of people and sits there like a cotton-fluff hat. As it cannot relax in dirty places it will clean any dirt it finds with its wings and then clean them in a stream.

And then, from a cliffside of Mt. Strength, a creature yelled as it jumped from further up the mountain. Spreading its cape it flew quite a distance down the mountain before making an athletic summersault and landing on its feet in front of Claire in a battle stance, issuing its challenge towards her.

Pokédex Entry #701 – Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokémon. Although its body is small, its proficient fighting skills enable it to keep up with big bruisers like Machamp and Hariyama. With its wings, it controls its position in the air. It likes to attack from above, a maneuver that is difficult to defend against.

That all said.

So, unfortunately for Claire, 5/6 of her Pokémon are weak to Flying-types, hence she did have some trouble successfully training her Pokémon in this area. That said, 4/5 of those weak to birds fared EXCELLENTLY against the many Skiddos! … That left Pip, who’d lose the average encounter with a Skiddo. Still, suppose she could abuse Poisonpowder for at least one win.

Ralia grew to level 15!
Ritz grew to level 16!
Lure grew to level 15!
Del grew to level 15! Del learned Focus Energy!
Zeal grew to level 15!
Pip grew to level 11!

Otherwise, she didn’t find anything particularly interesting.

What would Claire do now?

Connected areas:
Stillwood Village. A village hidden inside a forest, connected by the Mountain Valley road.
Route 10. The farmlands feeding Worldedge City awaits to the east, giving a mystic feeling.

Now, something to realize here is that Budew was a test-Pokémon. Budew wasn’t part of Earl’s core fighting team. These two are.

After having fed Elgyem the Spec Herbs, Elgyem immediately took Paradise’s Razor Leaf. No critical hit, but Elgyem was damaged. However, from sheer experience afterwards Elgyem was faster, focusing in a fast high-powered Confusion in on Paradise, which took more health in return. They traded back and forth, but on account of being level 6 against a level 9, Paradise couldn’t out-damage Elgyem and unfortunately fainted. So out came Seabreeze. Seabreeze was WAY faster, and committed to a Fowl Flap against Elgyem.

Except, Fowl Flap is not a move that actually does damage. Double except, nobody in the entire world knows how you actually perform Fowl Flap correctly on account it shouldn’t actually be a proper move, so Seabreeze somehow improvised it into an attack-move and struck Elgyem in the face. Elgyem fainted! … Seabreeze took recoil damage!

Paradise grew to level 7!

Then came Cubone. Earl shrugged and pulled out a Volt Tackle Potion.

Earl used Volt Tackle Potion!
Electric-type was added to Cubone!
Cubone’s Defense severely fell!
Cubone’s Special Defense rose!

… And, uh, that was it! He did not learn Volt Tackle Imitation nor suffer any status problems.

‘Er,’ Earl made a noise of someone whose plan didn’t work out, and Cubone looked back at him questioningly. It didn’t seem like it had tasted particularly dreadfully either. Seabreeze was then free to just Water Gun a panicking Cubone to fainting while Earl stood scratching his head trying to figure out what went wrong. It took an extra Water Gun because Cubone’s Special Defense ROSE for some reason, but otherwise it wasn’t a challenge seeing how Bone Club was Cubone’s only attack-move. Cubone fainted.

Seabreeze grew to level 8! Seabreeze learned Wing Attack!

Skylar was victorious! Skylar gained 650 P for winning!

‘… Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh…’ Earl made a long noise, looking down at his fainted Cubone and raised a hand to his chin as he considered. ‘I could have sworn that I stabilized those effects… Well, give or take a few status effects…’

As he was debating this… another Pokémon suddenly emerged entirely on its own from one of Earl’s pockets. The herbalist blinked twice, suddenly alarmed, and spun around to another, bigger, skull-wearing Pokémon glaring at him.

Pokédex Entry #105 – Marowak, the Bone Keeper Pokémon. Having overcome the grief of losing its mother, it has grown tough. It seeks out special Marowak cemeteries, where it collects bones to serve as its weapons. It was once a weak creature, but skilled usage of these weapons has helped it grow ever stronger.

‘Marowak!’ the Pokémon announced, causing Earl to jump out of the way in part-panic.

‘GAH! WE TALKED ABOUT THIS! WE TALKED ABOUT THIS!’ Earl shouted as he rolled on the ground next to the area. Now, Marowak picked up the fainted Cubone, starting to cradle the smaller Pokémon while as Earl finally came to a stop. ‘You have to understand, he WANTS to fight. You have to let him do that. We already let you come along on the journey, you have to let him go a bit more than that…’

‘C-cu!?’ Being cradled suddenly caused the Cubone to awake from being fainted with a start, wide-eyed, when… ‘Cuboooooooooone…!’ … it leapt out of Marowak’s bosom to stand startled on his own, Marowak standing confused a bit away.

‘Oh, boy…’ Earl sighed.

‘Maro! Marowak!’ the Marowak called to the Cubone, sounding worried… Cubone! What’s the matter with you? I’m your mother!

‘Cu… cubone…’ Cubone replied. No… That’s not it…

Cubone, teary eyed, then raised his hand to touch the skull he was wearing… ‘Cu… cu… boooooooooooooone…!’ My mother’s… right… heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere…! Cubone said, starting to suddenly bawl loudly with an impressive amount of water coming from his eyes, most assuredly convinced the skull is that of its mother.‘Cubone, boooone…!’ My mother’s deeeaaad…!

‘Maro! Mawak!’ Marowak told, suddenly annoyed and putting her hands on her hips. Cubone! I am your mother!

‘Cu… cubone… cubone!’ No… that’s not true… That’s impossible! Cubone stated, in a state of total disbelief.

‘Marowak, maro-marowak!’ Search your feelings, you know it to be true! Marowak told back, giving her son a moment to collect himself.

‘Cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…!’ Noooooooooooooooo…! … Cubone shouted out as he spun 180 degrees and started fleeing into the forest. Marowak was startled for a moment, and then started shouting after her son and started to chase after…

‘And there they go…’ Earl sighed, standing up and walking over to Skylar again. ‘Sorry about that. It’s a mother that won’t leave her son ever and a son that believes he’s wearing the skull of his dead mother. Anyways, you won. Good job.’

Back to real world. What was Skylar doing now, again?

Erza managed to get to the lively resort town known as Redcoast City decently fine on his own while hurrying, and went to work healing his Pokémon.

After healing, he sent two of them back after relocating the Quick Claw. Don’t worry, Kalmia will take care of them. Then he asked about Safari Zone…

‘Er, there isn’t so much of a Safari Zone in Isson… though there is a Safari route. Route 6 to the south, south-east of Lakewatch Town is a large, open plain where many wild Pokémon often seen in the Safari Zone of other regions appear. But, if you’re talking about the aesthetics of the Safari Zone, then suppose Play Park? It’s just north-east of Worldedge City. You get balls and can try to catch the Pokémon that appear. The kinds vary greatly per month and day! Maybe that’s what you’re looking for?’

With that said, Erza could head on towards Route 11. Searching the route for rare Pokémon, eh.

So, he started searching the route, when he noticed that light rain started coming down again. It wasn’t a lot of rain, but then all of a sudden lightning struck, storm clouds showing up and being threatening. Trainers started moving on to potentially avoid… but here, let’s say Erza made a little discovery. The lightning which struck out of the storm clouds, they were always striking at the same place, at the same plains. If we say that he moved over to investigate…

Pokédex Entry #522 – Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon. Its mane shines when it discharges electricity. They use the frequency and rhythm of these flashes to communicate. They gather where storm-clouds go, catching the lightning strikes with their horns like lightning rods in order to charge themselves.

A flock of Blitzles had appeared, collecting the lightning as it struck down at them to their horns, and they jumped about newly charged with electricity and looking rather pleased with themselves. So, would Erza do anything here?

Connected areas:
Redcoast City. Right behind you.
Rainrock City. Requires crossing Route 11, but it’s a pretty well-travelled and safe road.
Route 12. Requires crossing Route 11 on the way north, also pretty well-travelled.
Pokéball Factory. A turn east on the path north should bring you there.

‘Aegi…!’ the golden sword and shield remarked, anger in the tone.

‘I don’t need a human to speak to me about working together!’ the young man shouted back, anger in his tone as well. ‘That woman. The one the spirits fear. She opened the seal we were locked in by so long ago, and then departed without a word. Her motives are a mystery, but I have to seize this chance. The prison that wretched god sealed us inside, for crimes we had not committed! For human superstition and misgivings! For so many years after that, humans visited the tomb… to look at us. Just look at us! Never to free us! Never lifting a finger to help, just inspecting, just researching us! And I should… negotiate peace… with them…!?’

‘Ae… Aegigigigigigigig…!’
‘Hah… hahahahahahaha…!’

The human and the Pokémon laughed in chorus, the sound of their voices echoing in an eerie fashion against the walls of the tomb, the sound of it spreading to surrounding Pokémon under Aegislash’s control, who were turning towards the tomb all around.

‘Fine… perhaps we will,’ the young man said, a touch of amusement in his voice. The Bronzor floated in to float in mid-air beside the young man and the Aegislash. Let us put you to sleep. Then, as you dream, you will get to speak to my master. Convince him, and all of this will end. But should you fail, you might just end up not waking up so the young man cautioned/threatened, his voice taking something of ghastly amusement into his tone, as Bronzor started to spin a bit, preparing to potentially use Hypnosis.

Cofagrigus and Gengar threw looks at Amelia and Dawkin, as well as the newly arrived Greninja who had no frickin’ problem blowing past a couple level 8-10 grunts. It was up to them, ultimately.

@Dusksong

Eryn hurried forward, getting deeper and deeper into the woods. There were sounds all about, living creatures crawling within the very aptly named Infested Woods. There were bugs, bugs and more bugs around. She couldn’t find any ghosts yet, but honestly this place was so spooky in the dark that it wouldn’t really seem that out-of-place. She headed onwards, dodging Spinaraks and Scatterbugs, hoping she wouldn’t have to dodge anything else as she followed Dei’s little flame…

And suddenly it felt like she had a thousand eyes upon her. Her Pokémon might notice it before she did. To her immediate left was a huge tree that was absolutely littered with black, white and red eyes, all focused on her. As she refocused to perhaps identify what they were… they were some of the most common bugs in the entire world. The whole family tree. The green little larva, the even greener cocoons and the debatably beautiful butterflies they one day grew to become.

Pokédex Entry #10 – Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon. It has a great appetite and eats green leaves larger than itself. Its feet has suction cups allowing it to climb on any surface. If attacked, it can release a stench from its antenna to ward off attackers. It is known to grow fast, and will create a cocoon out of silk for itself to evolve.

Pokédex Entry #11 – Metapod, the Cocoon Pokémon. Caterpie encloses itself in a shell as it prepares for its final evolution. The shell is normally soft and tender, but can quickly harden to the toughness of an iron slab. To avoid damage it doesn’t move, simply enduring hardships while awaiting evolution.

Pokédex Entry #12 – Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokémon. It loves honey and can locate flower patches that have even the tiniest amount of pollen. Its wings are covered in a toxic rain-repellant dust, which allows it to fly even through rain. Should it be endangered, it will flap its wings at the offender, scattering the toxic dust.

They didn’t look very threatening, only plentiful. They most certainly didn’t usually count among the bugs that one would normally classify as the most dangerous of the lot. … That is, before she saw the view and heard the sound of what probably felt like the wings of a hundred Butterfrees taking off simultaneously and scattering above her, releasing a thick fog of green, yellow and purple mist. An absolute wall of Poison, Stun and Sleep powder was descending at her and her Pokémon in an uneven mix, and the Butterfrees looked to be more than willing to spin about to shower her with a round two if the first didn’t do its job, the horde of butterflies engaging Eryn in the midst of this dark woods.

… Eryn’s actions?

"… Alright, it's a deal then." Amelia said calmly, walking forward. She excluded an aura of calmness and gentleness, not through her abilities but simply through her demeanor, though said powers might not hurt in this regard, however weak they still were in comparison to the woman before her. Her tone held not hostility towards the Aegislash who had just badmouthed her, simply sympathetic pity. She then held out a hand in a friendly manner and gave the Aegislash a kind smile. "I know what it's like to be trapped with no where to go. My parents would never let me leave the house because of my health. They feared something would trigger what I have and cause me to go to the hospital or worse. So they kept me in my room, my cage, unable to interact with anyone.

However, I was fontunate. I was able to break out and visit the one place I could make friends, the graveyard. I was able to play with those who couldn't make friends with human that easily, Ghost-Type pokemon like you. I don't want to be your enemy Aegislash. I want to be your friend. Your people no longer need to suffer and the people up top should have no reason to fear you. Yes, they didn't seem to acknowledge your plight, but it's likely none of us knew of it. It's probably been centuries since you were sealed away. But I admit they would be weary of release you and your friends if they heard of whatever crimes you were accused of.

Regardless I will meet with your leader and I will convince them to stop this foolishness. So put me to sleep. However, all I ask is that you call off the attack until I am finished talking to your leader. Once that is done, if I have convinced them to stand down, I want to speak to you myself. Do we have a deal?
"

Greninja let out sound of protest, but Amelia simply shook her head at it.
"Violence can't be the solution here. It's likely that were I'm about to go, you will be unable to help. I'm not afraid though. I intended to find the cause of this hate and put a stop to it. I intend to end this suffering before it gets any worse, for both sides. I will see this through. I do not fear the darkness. So trust in me, just like Joshua and I trust in you. All I ask is that you all take care of Dawkin."

With that, Greninja bowed it's head, giving into the young girls demands. Smiling, Amelia turned to face Aegislash and Bronzor, waiting to see what would happen once she fell asleep.

Skylar fist pumped as Seabreeze flew back over to his head, landing in it and letting out a loud "Gull!" He was quite proud. He wasn't in the best spot there, but Seabreeze knew how to bring the heat when it came to battling! Skylar couldn't help but reward Seabreeze with some light pats on his head, not enough to hurt him, since he was a little scratched up there still. "Good job Seabreeze!"

He looked over at Paradise, who had definitely done well in her debut battle, though she was still exhausted from that too. Poor girl. "Good job, Paradise. Have a good nap for a little." Skylar said as he prodded his way over to her before tapping her with her Pokeball, the Tropius returning.

Immediately after the chaos with Marowak and Cubone, Earl came over to apologize for the actions of the ground types. "Eh, don't worry about it. It's just what they do. Ho-oh knows my dad was super scared to have me leave Freecape and start this journey." Skylar gave a reassuring smile to Earl before he looked over at Celebrity, who happened to be standing in front of Vivia and her Venonat.

"Hey Vivia!" Skylar shouted as he walked over to them, using the blurry outlines of their forms as a guide. "Did you see that battle! Isn't Earl the..." He got a few feet away from them when he heard the faintest snore from Vivia. He then turned his gaze to Celebrity before giggling a little. "So that's what the Sing was for earlier!" He heard it, but just faint enough for it to have no effect. "Celebrity, if you could, wake them up as gently as you can?"

He looked at Earl again before shooting him a thumbs-up. "Heh, that was a fun battle. Unfortunately, Paradise isn't exactly in the best shape to continue, and my team really could use a nice rest," Skylar started as he stepped back over to Earl. "I think I've gotta go and get my team to a Pokemon Center, though I kind of want to check out Route 3 first. I don't suppose you'd happen to know which way I'd go to get back?"

Celebrity, all the while, went over to Vivia and furrowed her gaze. She was asleep, and not giving Celebrity pets! What kind of travesty is this?! As if she wasn't thinking, Celebrity decided that using Pound to wake her up wouldn't be a bad idea, so after raising her stubby arm up in the air above Vivia's leg...

Celebrity used Pound!

Route 6, eh? Erza couldn't quite shrugg the thought out of his mind. It was practically on the opposite side of where he was, if you thought about it - but Erza didn't really had such a great geographical ability, neither did he knew Isson all too well. For now, he focused on Route 11: He was searching. Looking. There had to be something interesting here after all, right?

Not exactly. Erza found rain - clouds gathering ahead; damn, had he not been bombarded with rain just moments before? Apparently this was a comical book of Erza and his wet adventure- not that Erza was complaining. At least it was not too much this time around, just an idle... actually, how come the lightning kept coming from the same place? Erza decided to investigate.

It took but a few minutes of walking to find the source and once Erza did, he couldn't help but smirk. His trainer instincts were on point! The little discovery led him to a flock of Blitzle, an electric type. His pokedex was quickly moved to his hand so he could analyze this pokémon:

Pokédex Entry #522 – Blitzle, the Electrified Pokémon. Its mane shines when it discharges electricity. They use the frequency and rhythm of these flashes to communicate. They gather where storm-clouds go, catching the lightning strikes with their horns like lightning rods in order to charge themselves.

It was a flock, but Erza wanted only one. So, it was time to thin the herd!

An arcing flash of red light erupted from the chosen pokéball, materializing immediately Erza's ace pokémon, Eevee. It was ready, as it always seemed to be, so Erza just smirked as he felt the same excitement he always felt with each new battle and possibility of catching a new pokémon. He had no idea of what to expect from this one in particular, but he'd begin with an easy command.

"Eevee, sand-attack the one in the front and draw its attention, then, we will begin!" As Erza commanded, he already readied an empty pokéball in his right hand.

So, Erza got closer, intending to catch one of the Blitzles among the rain and lightning strikes. Though, when he got closer to the heard, there was suddenly something that caught his eye. It was very faint... but wasn't there something... off... about one of the Blitzles?

So, apparently praying at the Silent Shrine wasn't a bad decision at all. Erza halted his decision of charging head on as soon as his eyes caught sight of something particularly off. There was one Blitzle that seemed different. It's colors - honestly, it felt special just from a glance. Naturally, that was the one Erza wanted - the bad thing? All the other Blitzle were around it. Erza wouldn't be able to just waltz around them and catch that one.

The boy took a deep breath. He concentrated... then, lowered the empty pokéball. In each of his hands, were Growlithe and Duskull. Pidgey wouldn't be a good choice against an electric type.

"Growlithe, Extraordinary! Out!" The boy called out, the two respective pokémon being released from their pokéball in front of him. With Eevee, Growlithe and Duskull, maybe Erza would have a much greater chance of catching his objective.

"Now, Eevee! Sand-attack them! Growlithe, Ember at the ground, around -that- Blitzle! Extraordinary, use Leer on the first one that makes an attack!"

Dawkin Trustram

Amelia was unquestionably crazy. Dawkin couldn't be convinced to say she had a plan so much as she was blundering forward hoping things would work out in the end. What a harebrained scheme. It seemed unlikely he could do anything to stop her, and he had no interest in being put to sleep amidst a horde of, at least partly, vengeful ghosts. However he certainly couldn't just leave either. Dawkin shook his head, "I'm not going to sleep. But I'm not leaving either, and I don't need Greninja's help. I'm just going to make sure you don't try anything sketchy while she's asleep." Dawkin said resolutely. He didn't like any of this. The Aegis-slash and its puppet, the cackling Pokemon, this mysterious master, the ghostly telepathic message, and Amelia's faith that she could simply work things out. But he'd do his best to make sure she didn't dig too deep of a hole to get out of if push came to shove. Greninja might be strong, but there were a lot of Pokemon here and all it would take is one unseen move to put either of them in critical danger. Dawkin however, had an escape rope ready to go.
