Jeri

The growing adrenaline and anger numbed Jeri to some of the pain, and she kept thrashing through minor cuts and wing-slaps like they were nothing. However, her target managed to land one solid gash on her side, too sharp of a pain to ignore.

"GAH!--ohhh, birdbrain, YER REALLY IN FOR IT NOW!"

With a raging growl, Jeri faced the Murkow head-on and lunged to jab it with her chin spikes.

The pokemon swarmed the two murkrows before they knew what was happening. They had known about Celina and figured one murkrow would be enough to deal with her, but the rest of the pokemon was a surprise. The only fighting Jeri kept on fighting her, throwing claws and pecks in her general direction, but with Lance's and Trevor's sudden attack, the murkrow was just weak enough for Jeri's angry tackle to knock it on it's back. It tried to get back up but struggled to do so, and then simply laid in the mud, too tired and hurt to fight back. It was knocked out. The other murkrow recovered from Vi's surprise attack, however her follow up psychic attack didn't seem to do anything notable to harm him. He seemed more annoyed and was about to attack her when Nathan dropped in and smashed his body into the Murkrow. This didn't really do a lot of damage to the bird either, but in the process of getting struck he saw his last ally go down. While no coward, the Murkrow knew a losing battle when he saw one and instead opted to flee. Focusing entirely on evasion he flew off and away from the other pokemon, cursing them in some strange murkrow language.

Just as quickly as it started the combat was over, but not all was peaceful just yet. Before them laid at least seven murkrows, one who was knocked out and the other six who were merely asleep. There was no telling when they might wake up; a few even seem to be stirring. Not only that but there was also the pelipper who laid battered and wounded in front of them. It would be unresponsive to any of their attempts to wake or communicate with it; it too seemed to be knocked out. However anyone investigating the big bird itself would notice something in it's mouth; quite a small bounty of berries and other assorted items, including oddly enough letters and a few rocks.

Whatever the pokemon choose to do they were once more pressed for time. They could leave now and try to head towards that light in the distance, or perhaps take some time looting the fallen pelipper. Perhaps they could even try to heal it; it may help them in their journey in some way. Perhaps they could use this opportunity to finish off or at least secure the other murkrows still asleep, unless someone wanted to fight them while they were awake and ready to battle. Whatever their choice it was up to the little ones to determine.

The two murkrow who were awake either got knocked out, or were flying away, giving Trevor some time to notice that the bird they were protecting was ALSO knocked out. Well, he didn't want to use it too quickly, but they DID literally have the medicine for that, a single revive, back in the cave. "Uh... I'll be back, guys!" Trevor said to his friends who were still probably going to fight the sleeping murkrow before heading into the cave to search for the revive Celina found yesterday. It took a bit of searching, but, eventually, he found it. The small, yellow rhombus-shaped medicine, and he kinda knew how it might work. Trevor rushed out of the cave, revive in hand, and he tried his best to use it on the pelliper, who was knocked out, and wasn't going to be much help, otherwise. From what Trevor saw in its beak, specifically the letters, Trevor figured out that he was on a delivery when the group of murkrow bandits tried to ambush and overwhelm him. One could try to argue that the pelliper was the bandit, but... not many people would have a reason to just steal personal letters... that isn't to say there IS no reason, but Trevor could only guess that actual addresses weren't really a thing in this world, thus, not much could be gained from stealing a letter.

While Trevor went to get the revive Nathan walked over to the sleeping Murkrow. "Alright I can understand being reluctant about attacking sleeping Pokemon, but I really think we should do something about these guys. Not only can they wake up at any second but since they can fly outrunning them won't be an option." Despite what he said he wasn't attacking them, having decided to see if anyone had any other ideas before doing something he couldn't undo.

Ravi

To use a precious resource for a stranger that may have no interest in repaying their generosity wasn’t the smartest method for their survival, but Ravi agreed that Trevor had left to do the noble thing. They spent their energy to save the poor pelipper, so it paid to look on the bright side of things. But sides of morality were a grey perspective for creatures that didn’t perceive color. So while they waited for Trevor’s return, Ravi’s narrowed gaze focused on the unconscious Murkrow. From where he slithered, an enemy that refused to be friendly was a prize won after the hunt, handed to him on a silver platter. His tongue wiggled close to its visible injuries, smelling an intoxicating aroma unique from its sleeping brethren. He was in favor of enhancing the flavor by throwing salt in the wounds. His words were hushed to keep the slumbering murkrow from stirring, but he spoke with passion dripping from his palate, making his intentions loud and clear.

“I agree with Nathan, leaving them alone will only open us up for future attacks. I’d sssuggest we strike them down all at once...my teeth might be sharp enough to chomp down and break their necks. Then I can handle thisss one ssswiftly.” Unaware of how cold and sinister that might’ve come across, Ravi had almost began to unconsciously wrap around the injured bird, but he stopped to hear second opinions from his team. And it was wiser to wait and eliminate the underlying threats.

Jeri

"And stay down!" Jeri panted as her foe fell still. For a few seconds, she felt gleeful, fueled by the pride of knocking out an enemy even in this weird new form. Then, the adrenaline subsided, and the pain and soreness began to rise to the surface.

"Augh... craaaap…"

Jeri backed off a few feet to assess her wounds. She was fortunate to get away with just one significant gash, though she sported a few more cuts and bruises. The Dunsparce felt a little dizzy at the thought of not even being able to look at her side and see how much she was bleeding. But she shook it off; there was more work to do.

Jeri gave Ravi a quizzical stare as he spoke. It was... strange, off-putting to hear this "positive attitude!" guy talk coldly about literally killing these things. The other Pokémon in this world... did they think similarly to humans? Maybe they once were humans, like Jeri? Were these, like, evil people? Or perhaps other Pokémon are more like animals or monsters? Jeri figured she'd leave those judgements to those more knowledgeable about Pokémon.

"If we're gonna try to kill these things or somethin', I think we should all surround and hit one at a time. A coop-de-grace. Even if the others wake up before we get there, if they got any smarts, they'll turn tail when they see what we did to their friends."

As she spoke, Jeri maintained her position further away from the sleeping Murkrow. She didn't exactly want to be on the front line for a while.

Celina

At least the fight was done for now.. that what Celina though right now. She sighed as she goes to move near the group and look at her wing, frowning as she saw the blood. "Ugh... going to need to get this washed... still hurt a bit..." she says, a bit worried right now. Talk about lot of things happening. She looked at the peliper and look at the group. "Not sure if we coul possibly move him to the cave if he dosent wake up cause of that revive. One thing for sure, he really was hurt..." she then says calmly as she relax right now and look at the other murkrow, staying on her guard. She though about it as she look at the group. "I guess if we all attack at once we can finish those murkrow... and that peliper could help also once he wakes up. I am guessing he would want a little vengance on these guys. " she says, looking towards the murkrow, preparing a sing move in case one of them wake up. Might as well try to be the support here and try to keep them down possibly.

"...woho?" Vi had to suppress a nervous chuckle as her psychic attack didn't work on the Murkrow. Why hadn't it? It worked on other things? What was different? She couldn't think about it, but that other thing she learned seemed to work. Maybe if she could get it off - but before she could panic any further, the seedling came and slammed its body into the bird pokemon. Once recovered the strange bird fled, leaving them behind with its comrades.

Which just left them with the ones that were now sleeping and some, who seemed to be stirring.

"...Hm." Vi frowned lightly. "My attacks seem mostly ineffective on these...Murkrow, was it?" The ghost glanced over to Trevor and the Pellipper. "Oi, bladie lizard. Lemme handle the pelican thing. Go help the others with the Murkrow." Vi floated over to the Pelliper, nudging lightly into Trevor with her body.

Lance

The injured bird had berries stashed in its beak, but what interested Lance more was the envelopes. It was likely some kind of courier, which meant that not all of the Pokemon in this world were feral beasts. This only pushed Lance's desire to investigate the light even further. At this point, he was almost certain that they'd find civilization there.

For now, there were much bigger problems at hand. The sleeping crows could wake up at any moment, and on top of that it seemed that Vi couldn't harm them. The others began suggesting that they should finish them off before they woke up, and it didn't seem as though anyone disagreed with them. "It seems that this is the best option." Standing over one of the comatose birds, he readied his blade. "If nobody else will land the first blow, I will." With that, he thrust his blade towards the bird lying in front of him.

With the battle quickly over, everyone moved to carry out their tasks. Trevor and Vi worked on reviving the wounded Pelliper. It was awkward to try and fit the review into the mouth of the bird especially as much of it was carrying an assortment of berries and letters, but whether by accident or perhaps intentionally, the revive ended up shattering into a golden dust in Trevor's hand. The dust was quickly blown away by the wind only for it to suddenly turn back towards the pelliper, causing some of it's wounds to heal with unnatural speed. A few seconds later the pelliper coughed and gagged, but it came back to life.

Meanwhile the others went to finish off the murkrows. It was a quick but dirty thing. Lance's blade, as small as it was, struck true into the murkrow. Perhaps thanks to the Celina's song, his death was easy. The pain immediately awoke the murkrow but all he could do was release a shocked gasp, struggle for a few seconds, and then bled out. His body twitched afterwards but soon the murkrow was killed. The same occurred to the murkrow Ravi was in position to slay; all he needed to do was tighten his grip around the murkrow's neck, bite it's throat, or any combination of the two and the bird would die shortly after. Even in his juvenile body, it wasn't hard to kill a sleeping bird. It was then that one of the murkrow began to awaken just in time to see his allies slain. He squawked in fear and fled as fast as he could, seemingly more interested in getting away than fighting. He didn't even go back the same way be came and let the wind carry him as far away as possible. The others were still asleep if only for a few more seconds.

As the slaughter continued the pelliper came to. A few berries had fallen out of it's mouth as it was gagging ad with it's feathered wing it picked them back up into it's mouth. The Pelliper looked to the others with a mix of confusion, concern, and hostility, but it could tell that it was saved. The pokemon was cautious but bowed it's head. "T-Thank you. I didn't expect to be saved, especially by such younglings." The Pelliper's voice was surprisingly feminine. "My name is Wendy, a courier. I knew the weather here was going to be bad, but I didn't think there'd be murkrow's here! Honestly surprised they'd risk flying in this weather." Wendy looked around at the gathered pokemon and seemed concerned, especially with the ones killing the sleeping Murkrow. She didn't seem particularly disgusted at the act so much as concerned about the ones doing it.

"Where's your parents? Guardians? Did you all get stuck here before the flood started?"

Ravi

In a blink of an eye...well-

Ravi quickly took notice of Jeri’s stare, pausing to digest their thoughts before getting to the main course. Wondering if his enthusiasm for eating crow for lunch was a mistake. Or did he just make another scary face? Maybe it was instinct, but he didn’t perceive his actions as outlandish. What could be more optimistic than accepting the role you’ve been given? He grinned as the rest of the team members agreed to end the opponents swiftly. Following their lead with a strike from his newly sharper fangs, biting into his prey’s neck and sinking them in smoothly like a knife through butter. Completely ignoring the fleeing Murkrow, as he salivated and unhinged his jaw.

Hoping the others would chime in soon, as he didn’t want to appear rude to their new friend. Listening to her thanking them for the help and then asking them where they came from. But it wasn’t an easy query to answer. Who knows if she’d even understand the truth, let alone know about humans' existence, and if it would be believable to her that they had somehow transformed into pokemon. But he had faith someone else would respond with something clever, since his mouth was a little stuffed at the moment.

Lance

The crow's eyes shot open as Lance's blade was driven into its throat, though there wasn't much that it could do by that point. Its death was quick, and it likely only felt pain for a moment before the blood loss made it lose consciousness. Right at that moment, Lance saw movement out of the corner of his eye. One of the crows had woken up, though by the time he turned his head it was already in the air, flying in the opposite direction. Clearly, it wasn't willing to fight.

All of the ones that remained were either dead, or at the very least close to it. He couldn't help but notice Ravi, who had killed one of the other birds and stuffed it in his mouth, feathers and all. He was more than a little put off by this sight. "I do hope you realize how disgusting that is. You're not even bothering to cook it first?" Oddly enough, the snake didn't even seem remotely repulsed by the idea of eating raw meat. This only served to disturb Lance even more.

The pelican, apparently named 'Wendy', had woken up by this point. Seeing juvenile Pokemon out in the wilderness must have been a strange sight, but not nearly as strange as the story of how they got there. "That's a long story, and one that I don't feel like telling. One of you can explain it to her." He then headed down to the newly-formed pond. His blade was covered in the Murkrow's blood, and he was hoping to wash it off. Kneeling next to the shore, he dipped his blood-soaked blade into the water, using the other one to scrape off whatever didn't simply wash away.

The victim of the bandit attack came to, and asked about their parents and where they came from... the others didn't seem to be coming up with anything, and as much as Trevor hated having to do it, he had to lie. "Hello Wendy, I'm Trevor, and me and my friends here are orphans. We were all abandoned here, and told to wait, but I don't think anyone's coming back," while it was true that they were technically without parents in this world, they did have a bit more knowledge than the average child did. Trevor even answered the other question with some honesty, simply stating "We've been here since yesterday morning," even if he knew that the pelliper wouldn't buy the truth, and would call them crazy, Trevor still felt absolutely HORRIBLE about telling that lie. He then waited to see what Wendy would say in return, and, despite having to lie, Trevor still felt reassured by the fact that they saved the correct pokemon in this situation.

"My attacks seem mostly ineffective on these...Murkrow, was it?" That was something he did know about and he was happy to explain it to the Misdreavus. "Murkrow are part Dark-Type and thus immune to Physic-type attacks." While he was happy to hear the others agree to his plan to take the sleeping Pokemon out, he couldn't look at what Lance and Ravi did to them.

Instead feeling guilty about not being able to do the dirty deed himself he wandered over to Trevor and the Pellipper just in time to hear the Charmander's explanation for why they were left alone even though they were babies. Deciding to try and learn something more about this new world he wanted to talk to Wendy. "Yesterday we were attacked by a Bidoof with red eyes and while we defeated it, bide had no effect. Any idea what that was about?"

Celina

When she saw the group go to finish off the murkrows, Celina just felt a bit off about this. From being innocent.... to killing those jerks. If only there was something like a jail or something in this world. She shook her head as she went to Wendy and heard what Trevor said. Yes.. that was a lie about them being orphans, but how would that peliper react if they told her the truth. Would it end up attacking them suddenly cause of humans being a bad omen here, or would she just be surprised? She just didnt know how she would react. She just shivered a bit and tried to make sure her wings were clean right now, making sure she would be ok and be able to fly after the hit she took to the wing. Last thing she needed was being stuck on the ground and having to try to hop and possibly glide slightly to move. She looked towards Ravi just fro a bit, seeing what he was doing and shivered a bit, just an image of one of her kind having that happen just popping in her head. One thing for sure, she sure was glad he was on their side.

"A... any towns or any safe place near that we could go to?" she then finally ask Wendy, hoping that she could help.

Oh. 'Types' huh? So that meant she was likely some sort of 'ghost' type...and Dark was immune to Psychic, which seemed to be what her current main method of attack was. Good to know. She'd need to figure out how to deal with them, then.

"Woho, thanks for the information, seedling." Vi replied, turning to the Pelliper that was jsut now waking up. A courier? Hum, well, that explained what it was doing out here with the letters. It did ask a rather obvious but difficult question. How to explain? Lance was one of the first to chime in as the snake...ate a bird? Huh, how delightfully messy. The bald red lizard was the next to chime in with an obvious lie to the question. The fact he felt horrible about it, if she was correct if her little emotional feelers were accurate, was quite hilarious.

"The bald lizard speaks truthfully...mostly, wohoho~" She couldn't help but to add that last little bit into her statement. "Abandoned here with nowhere to go and no idea what's going on. Barely managed to survive the night! I almost got blown away, woho~" Floating over to the Pelliper, Vi gave her a mischevious grin. "I am Vi. Charmed. Perhaps you could help us out in return for the timely rescue? I shall echo the Fluff Bird's question if there is someplace not here we could stay at."

Jeri

Jeri huffed as a couple of her comrades each dispatched their own foe. Just one Murkrow surviving the first hit could wake up the rest of the flock, and then they'd be screwed. Although... their strategy did seem to be working well, with two already dead and one flying away without so much as a thought of alerting its group.

The Dunsparce began to inch toward another snoozing bird, then grunted as the action pulled her gash open a little wider. She gave the Murkrow a determined glare... and then slithered away, toward the main group of her allies. She could, she would totally take care of one of the Murkrow. But this wasn't a game, and she had to take care of herself first.

"Trevor," Jeri said. She attempted to use a hushed voice, though her pain and still simmering anger made her tone a little louder than she intended. "Ya got any of those healing berries? I could use one... or ten. Fluff bird, ya need any, too?"

Ravi

For once Ravi may not have looked so intimidating on the face of it with his elated expression expelling a blissful belch from his bloated belly. But that wasn’t his only gut feeling, now more concerned about how his friends were faring. Keeping his senses as sharp as his fangs, holding everyone’s concerns and questions on a silver platter. After all, laying about was no excuse to be a layabout and serving others over oneself should satisfy him like an after-dinner mint.

“Lance seems to be judging my cooking abilities. Or more accurately, my inability to rub two sticks together. But I’ve never had a problem with raw food, since I share a fondness for cheap sushi which was the staple food for my friends in college, keeping their cashless wallets in check. Maybe he just has a sensitive stomach, but I shouldn’t speculate...next time we have a meal I’ll be sure to give him some recipes!” Having similar thoughts stirring up, wanting to console Trevor with his doubt about lying. Giving him a pep-talk about him doing what’s best for the team. Nathan would receive one too regarding whatever was bugging him. Then he'd give some reassurance to Celina that he was friendly and wouldn’t bite...her. Wait. Jeri needed a berry? Was he hurt?! The berries were all stored back at the cave, if he recalled correctly, and he’d be the fastest retriever.

“Fret not, I ssshall fetch one — or ten — for you lickety-sssplit!” Ravi proclaimed like he was saving someone from a burning building. He lunged forth and flopped like a wet danger noodle. His stomach like an anchor that held him in place as he let out a soft, “bleh.” Quickly past his initial embarrassment, he started dragging himself towards the cave at a snail’s pace. Clearly he wasn't used to speedily slithering when stuffed, but he remained positive and determined. “Erm...just sit tight...I’m — eh! on — eh! — my way.”

"...would it be selfish to hope someone carried a spare?"

Wendy nodded at Trevor’s words, seemingly believing him. The truth would surely be stranger anyways. ”Orphans? In this weather?! Oh that’s so sad. I mean... Hgn, I can’t just leave you kids alone, especially after you saved me...” Wendy seemed stuck for what to do. She had a job and she prides herself fir her timely deliveries, but was her job more important than the well-being if these children? As she pondered what to do the other Pokémon spoke to her.

The seedot described a strange looking bidoof attacking them, makin Wendy curious. ”A bidoof attacked you? Alone? That’s unusual. I’ve never heard of them being so aggressive, especially when they’re outnumbered. They’re plant eaters too, so maybe it just wanted to eat you?” A red eyed bidoof who seemed immune to the seedot’s attack was indeed unusual and Wendy didn’t have an sender for it. Maybe Nathan was just too weak to do any meaningful damage. ”I can’t say I know what else would be going on. I imagine there’s lots of bidoofs around here though, especially with these torrential rains. It’ll be the perfect time for them to come and make dams for any Pokémon who can afford it.”

Next was Celina and Vi who wanted to know if there were any towns nearby. “Closest place I remember is the Stardust Village, pass the river and to the north. Doesn’t seem to have been caught up in this heavy rain though. Not sure how you’ll get there since it seems like the wind and rain is worse over there, so much that the bridge is flooded! But I do think I saw somewhere safe.” We day hopped around and pointed a wing towards the forest, in the direction of the glowing light. ”I think there’s a berry farm in that direction. I remembered seeing it right before the murkrows attacked. A big barn with a farm house nearby, saw the lights inside on too. I’m sure there’s someone there willing to help ya. I... I wish I could do more, but I can’t stay. I need to deliver my letters.”

When Jeri asked about some berries to heal her injuries, Wendy lit up. There was a way she could help. ”Hold on a moment!” Carefully tilting herself forward, Wendy pulled out an assortment of items. A small bundle, a wooden flask, and a few colorful rocks. ”It’s not much, but I figured you should all have this. That bundle has some Lava Cookies, delicious snacks that’ll help you heal up if you’re hurt from poison or some such. This is my water bottle, but I filled it up with berry juice! One gulp and it’ll perk you right up! And these are my lucky rocks. I think it’s onlu appropriate that thanks to these stones, I was lucky enough for you all to save me, so you should have them yourself. I have a hard rock, a green shard, and an oval stone. I hope you’ll find some use for them like I have.”

Wendy starts flapping her wings, healthy enough to be able to fly under her own power. ”I think I ought to be able to at least take you guys over to the farm house if you ride in my bill. Just tell me when you’re ready to go and I’ll get us there Lickilicky split!”

Seeing Wendy generously giving them some of her belongings caused Nathan to feel bad about Trevor lying to her about their circumstances, though the Charmander's reasons were obvious. He also wished she would have been able to tell them more about the red eyed Bidoof but she was a great help regardless and they would be able to ask around at the berry farm later.

"I think that would be a great idea, but we'd have to discus it first to if everyone agrees." With any luck during their discussion the others could be filled in on their "backstory" without Wendy hearing.
