So, in the interest of spurring OOC discussion (so we can get to the 2000th post and it can be used for something that isn't a GIF of Thanos dabbing), what is, all time, your favorite single piece of superhero media? It can be a movie, TV show, comic run, anything of your choosing. For me, it's sort of a tie between two things:

For one, Into The Spider-Verse. If you can't tell by my character choice for this game, I fucking love Spider-Man. Spider-Man 2 is the shit, but I was hurting for another capital G great Spider-Man flick after the Amazing films sucked so bad that I briefly deluded myself into thinking that Homecoming was the one, even though it kind of super wasn't. But then along comes Spiderverse. I've always been a sucker for great animation, but it's got at all, great acting, worldbuilding, writing, and a plot about what it means to be Spider-Man. Something about it really struck me, and I think it's going to stick with me for a very, very long time.

The more I think of it, I do think it's ultimately more of a runner-up to Spiderverse, but, honestly? UOU is my other pick. This will probably read as a very silly answer to some/most of you, and honestly, it super is. But I think UOU, for its run, hit a lot of the notes of all the greatest comics stories. We had a huge procession of spectacular writers slinging some of the best characters in the medium, and it all came together into a beautiful, climactic ending. It doesn't have the polish or necessarily style of a lot of the other possible candidates for a 'favorite', but I think UOU got started for me at a point in my life where I really needed something like it. I'd never done a Comic game before, and I figured I'd hate writing canons. But at the time, I was in something of a creative slump, and UOU was just what I needed to get the juices flowing again, and to remind me just why I like writing and superheroes so much.

Legit, my favourite Comic of all time. The book that cemented Superman as my single favourite superhero. Didn't particularly care for him before then, but after reading this, it all fell into place.

As far as shows / animation goes..
With the 3rd Season, Young Justice dethrones both Batman Beyond and JL/U on their shared throne where they've sat firmly since the end of their respective runs.

And Live action movies.
Captain America: Winter Soldier's also worth mentioning as being the best Superhero movie. Endgame ain't far behind though.

I wish to report two offenses against my sensibilities...

Really, though. Spectacular Spider-Man was great. Taken from us too soon.

Proper comic book wise, I've hilariously only ever read one issue of Spiderman and one issue of the Phantom. All I remember about the Phantom is he's a dude in purple who punches people. Mostly, I'd like to thank Wikipedia for saving me when I have no idea what's going on.

In other thoughts, clearly a dude in purple tights is the next character I'm bringing into this RP as a supporting cast member.

I'm not sure if graphic novels count, but I've always been partial to the Sandman series by Gainman. In particular, I absolutely love Death: The High Cost of Living...and really anything which focuses on Death as Gainman portrays her.

Matt Fraction's run on Hawkeye is probably my favorite longtime run of any comic book character. The whole "what if we made a Marvel comic into an indie comic" route working really well with Hawkeye's whole character.

In terms of other material? I mean, I kinda grew up with JL and JLU, so they will always have a soft spot in my heart. But the honor of my favorite probably goes to Brave & the Bold for the same reason that I love Adam West Batman, and that's because I'm just a sucker for camp.

Favorite comics run: The Winter Soldier storyline from Brubaker's Cap, or IDW's TMNT. Brubaker's Cap is just the best, and made me fall in love with the character before Chris Evans made him challenge Spidey as my favorite all-around comic character. Just so much about that run is pitch perfect. And the IDW TMNT has just so much fun stuff I've enjoyed. Its combined the best parts of all the old TMNT properties into the best possible combination.

Favorite comics movie: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE or AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Yes, I know they're both new, but both have just everything that makes me love superheroes. Crazy concepts, awesome characters, touching moments, great humor, and some terrific action to boot.

In other news, my post is getting close to being done. I'm combining two posts into one, so it should be up Sunday.
