Quirk Demonstrations, Start!

One by one, Spacenaut and the others welcomed each student into UA's fold. Spacenaut had been keeping a checklist to ensure every (and we mean every) single soul had made it safely within the walls before proceeding. Class 1-B had taken a separate entrance and would be seen by their own teachers, and the second years were already in classes. But normal classes were not what was in store for 1-A today. Once everybody had grouped up inside the walls, Spacenaut put down his list and approached the crowd that had formed just outside the gates. His presence demanding their attention on its own as the enigmatic vigilante finally piped up. His voice was slightly robotic sounding and amplified through his helmet to a volume easily heard by everybody present.

(^-^)/

"Welcome, class 1-A, to UA High School. My name is Captain Spacenaut, and you will address me as Spacenaut-sensei from here on out. With me are McCoy-sensei, Zhao-sensei, Mitsuhide-sensei, and Shigeki-san. Each of you are here for your own reasons, but it will be the duty of myself and my colleagues to mold you properly into Heroes. Over the course of the next few years, this place will be your home. And the people around you will be your family. As such, our first order of business will be an icebreaker. Throughout your lives, society has conditioned people like yourselves to avoid embracing your Quirks. Here we will be practicing the opposite. In certain areas of this campus we have provided a safe place to develop your strengths. We will be heading to one such space now, and you will each get the opportunity to show us your Quirks.”

The man in glasses, introduced as Mitsuhide, then stepped forward. His eyes scanned the gathered group of students, before he cleared his throat.
"Greetings. I am Mitsuhide Oyoshi, Government Employee and Teacher of Quirk Ethics and Hero Law at UA," he began in formal Japanese, before repeating himself in English, then Russian, without so much as missing a gramatical beat, "Aproximately sixty-three meters from the back exit of the main building, a large, open, paved area has been designated for today's task. Under the close observation of several of my collegues, your Quirks will be evaluated and measured for our records. This will also help you get to know each other better. So, you get to relax and, as they say, 'show your stuff'." Oyoshi then turned to Captain Spacenaut, speaking in a hushed tone.
"Too much?" he quizzed beneath his breath, not sure how much enthusiasm to show, or informating to give at once.
Truth be told, Mitsuhide Oyoshi was incredibly excited by the prospects of the Hero program in general, and this year's Class 1-A in specific.

(¬‿¬)

Spacenaut's hand closest to Oyoshi clicked to life and formed a thumbs up.

Oyoshi simply nodded respectfully.

When Zhao-sensei's turn came to speak, he stood up straight and approached the front calmly.

"Hello everyone, I am Zhao. Zhao Jun-Tao to be precise. Yes, I am Chinese. I served in the People's Liberation Army for several years, saw combat, and held the rank of Sergeant First Class. I teach physical education, with a primary focus on martial arts and close quarters combat. Perhaps some of you may question the merit of having a military man teach you where you intend to learn how to be a "Hero". However to that I say that such thinking is narrow minded. There is much to be learned from many sources, and my military experience is as valuable as any other." He left off by saying, "Wei Renmin Fuwu. It means "Serve the people". Remember that they are which you mean to serve as "Heroes"." After he was finished, he silently stepped back and took his place with the others.

Spacenaut raised a single hand with mechanical clicks and whirs to reclaim the attention of the class.
( ̄ー ̄)

“Now that everybody that wishes to speak has done so, if all of you would be so kind as to follow me to the Quirk use area we can get started.”

The teachers lead class 1-A to a rather large concrete area out behind the main campus building and within view of the outdoor track and field. Four pillars adorned the corners of the area, but it was otherwise a quite simple space that looked ready to be modified to individual needs upon request.

Spacenaut stood at the edge of the concrete area and faced the class.

“Okay. Now, who would li--”

“WAIT! Don’t start without me!” an excited woman’s voice called shortly before its owner appeared with an animal carrier in hand. It was foisted into the grasp of Yaseishi by a pair of gloved hands. “Here, this is for you. Wait to go last and you should be able to demonstrate. I can’t wait!” she whispered to the student before bouncing back to the teacher’s positions. “Hello everybody! I’m Mori-sensei, and I’m your Quirk development specialist here at UA! I will be watching carefully and speaking with each of you after your demonstration. So relax, have fun, introduce yourselves and your quirks, but most importantly, show me your stuff!"

Upon arrival, Katsuro had put earbuds in and started playing music on his phone. Not interested in any socialization with people arriving later than he did, he had simply taken to silently scoping out his competition. And for the most part, he was… unimpressed.
One student fell on his ass just trying to get into the gates. Immediately he was passed off as a non-threat.
The shrimp girl struck poses, at least she was enthusiastic. It was good that Katsuro couldn’t hear anything they were saying because being called Quirkless and the implication of being protected by some shrimpy little girl would have pissed him off.
Some students immediately got all touchy-feely with one another, he was just glad that he wasn’t included in it. That would have gone badly for all parties.
When one dark-skinned girl arrived on the scene sporting burned up clothes and a fiery attitude, he almost felt an instant comradery with them. Especially seeing as it seemed the girl was marching straight for the front gate looking ready for a fight. He liked that, and he almost would have joined along if she wasn’t stopped by a teacher.
He recognized one of them, it was hard to miss a sentient mass of gelatinous pink goop. They went to middle school together, or maybe he had just visited her school for a game at some point. He gave Nadeshiko a longer look over for this reason as if trying to place exactly where he knew her from.
The rest of the students seemed relatively normal, just entering the gates and minding their own business just the same as he did. In a way, he could respect that, but it didn’t give him very much to work off of. He liked to figure people out before he had to deal with them directly.

Spacenaut’s booming amplified voice alerted him over his music, signaling him to stop his music take his earbuds out to listen to what the teachers had to say. A rock-steady flat poker face was maintained throughout, but his eyes glinted with excitement upon hearing that he would get the opportunity to show off his quirk straight away. In fact after hearing that the rest of the teachers’ speeches may as well have gone unheard. He was growing impatient and wanted to get the show on the road already. He tapped his foot throughout Zhao-sensei’s little introduction.

“Finally,” he muttered when Spacenaut started leading them to the exalted Quirk use area. He kept pace with Spacenaut, all but overtaking him on the way there. He would have gone ahead if he knew where he was going. Then, they reached the quirk demo area. A square concrete platform. Simple, but perfect for him. Katsuro was about to step up to go first before Mori-sensei showed up.
“This woman is our Quirk Development specialist? She looks…” Katsuro mumbled, never finishing his sentence before she gave the go-ahead to start on the demonstrations.
“Alright, it’s about time! I’m going first!” Katsuro said loudly in a matter-of-fact tone, taking off his backpack and setting it to his side before going to stand in the center of the concrete platform. His phone was set to play music over a wireless speaker from the bag.

“My name is Ryuujin Katsuro,” he began in a proud tone, even going as far as to refer to himself with an ‘ore-sama’ personal pronoun. “My quirk is called ‘Fire Hazard’,” he seemed to growl his Quirk name and grow visibly angry. “I constantly emit a flammable, explosive gas from my skin which is metabolized from water, and I’m immune to high temperatures! All I need is a spark!”
He stuck out his tongue and touched his finger to it, at first glance it may have looked like he was calling himself hot with that gesture but he was really about to check the wind. It was blowing ever so slightly away from the formed crowd of his classmates. Perfect.
“Now stand back and watch the fireworks!"

Katsuro reached into his pocket and produced a zippo lighter, when he did so those standing close enough could hear the rattle of even more lighters stuffed in there. He flicked his wrist to expose the striking mechanism and placed his thumb on it.

flick

The spark from the lighter was the catalyst for the resulting explosion. A 20ft tall inferno that dimmed down until roaring flames in an approximate human shape replaced what was once a high school student. But he wasn’t done. Katsuro performed a series of high thrown kicks, each one propelling the constantly burning gas further away from him in a wave. A short distance but effective way of using the gas offensively. He started breakdancing to a similar end, resulting in a circle forming around him. He imagined this being useful for forcing distance between him and a surrounding group of hostiles.

When he was satisfied with his work, he stood up and visibly tensed until the fire surrounding him completely died out. His skin was steaming, his mouth sizzled every time he opened it. That residual heat would stay with him for a few minutes after his show. He stepped off of the platform and was greeted immediately by Mori-sensei.

“Well done, Katsuro-kun! Your quirk is very impressive! I bet with enough training and hard work it will be even more so! So you can extinguish yourself despite the gas being a constant? I’m going to work with you so that your emissions only happen when you want them to, and maybe you can even learn to focus where they’re released!”

This woman was clearly very excited to be here. Katsuro welcomed the praise with a cocky smile as he retrieved a water bottle from his backpack and stopped the music. He never verbally responded.

”Alright. Now let’s see what I’ll be up against this semester.”

Emiko and Jun-Tao Zhao

Emiko sat through the assembly, maintaining a dutiful silence. She had heard of some of these people on occasion from her daddy, but she didn't know all that much about them. She would have to make up her own mind as to what they were like in due time. Her opinions were not identical to her daddy, after all. Otherwise, she was excited to hear they would get to show off their own quirks in due time. She was already thinking of how to insert a cover anime reference into it somewhere. If anyone recognised it, she would have an instant friend, and if anyone hated it, she knew who to avoid. She saw any result as an absolute win.

Before they got started on the demonstrations, Mori-sensei finally showed up. She had heard more about her than about any of the others from daddy. She had a feeling she would like her, given what she had heard.

The first person to do their demonstration was some arrogant douchebag. His use of "ore-sama" immediately rubbed Emiko up the wrong way. He was like one of those cliche delinquent asshole types. At least his quirk was somewhat impressive, not that she would ever say that to him, for fear of fueling what was already a raging ego. For a minute she thought he was going to steal her bit with his gas-fueled kicks, but she was quite sure her attacks reached further than his. Zhao-sensei too looked on in disdain at the young man. He did not care about how good anyone's quirk was if they had an attitude problem, which he was quite convinced this Ryuujin boy had.

Eventually, Emiko took her place on the platform. She waved to the crowd. "Ni Hao, everyone, my name is Zhao Emiko!" She figured anyone that was paying attention would figure out or at consider that Zhao-sensei was her daddy. Although she wouldn't say it now, Emiko didn't care who knew. "My quirk is called "Concussive Force", and I use it by doing stuff like this." On cue, she threw a punch, and a kinetic blast erupted from her fist. She then made a kicking motion, and another blast erupted from her foot. She assumed the message was clear. Next came the fun part.

Emiko then launched into a full force volley with her quirk. With every flick of her wrist, a kinetic blast erupted forth, and traveled a fair distance before vanishing. As she went, she shouted "ATATATATATATATATA!" The more discerning eyes among the crowd might recognize she was doing a Fist of the North Star reference. Zhao-sensei was a mixture of proud of her display and embarrassed by the fact he could recognise she had chosen to do an anime reference.

When Emiko was done punching, kinetic blasting, and shouting, she turned to the crowd and flashed them a thumbs up. She then got down from the platform.

Zhao-sensei put a hand on Mori-sensei's shoulder and whispered to her, "Don't make anything out of her being my daughter."

So he said, but the woman looked like she almost couldn't help yourself. Still, she smiled nervously and tried to contain her excitement.

"Emiko-kun! Incredible work, and I loved the old reference! I can't wait to watch your progression here at UA!" she said, visibly straining to keep herself from saying more. Had Zhao-sensei not told her to keep quiet about it, she might have launched into how cool it was that she shared the same quirk with her father, and that it would be just like seeing Zhao-sensei himself in his early days. She leaned in and whispered to her. "I'll help you become even stronger than your dad, okay?"

"Ehehe, sure!" Emiko quietly replied. She wasn't so sure about becoming stronger than daddy, but she sure as heck would try. In any event, she would rejoin the others acting as spectators, eager to see what other surprises the class held.

Mitsuo stood quietly during the staff's introductions. He was expecting some oddballs among the faculty, given most of them were apparently former vigilantes, but he definitely wasn't expecting a foreign military official or an unsettling man in a space suit. Not that he found either of them unlikeable as of yet; Spacenaut-sensei was intimidating only in the air of mystery he carries with him, and paramilitary training was something he already expected from UA, given the rigor of what superpowered crime fighting must entail. Though, admittedly, he wasn't particularly looking forward to it.

That's exactly why the presence of the government intermediary didn't shock him too much; he had no doubt this entire hero program would be regulated extensively. However, Mitsuhide's immediate insistence on quirk evaluation and clinical tone made Mitsuo slightly resent the man. The way he spoke was like the students were just being reduced to whatever exploitable power they brought to the table. Quirks were tools, not identities, and classifying the students only by their quirk was overly pragmatic to the point of callousness. Mitsuo couldn't fault the staff too much, though. Their quirks were why they were here, and it would be silly to dance around the topic for very long, as much as Mitsuo would've liked to.

The boy continued on along with the class to the demonstration area in similar silence. A bit pathetic, he supposed, to be antisocial here of all places, but the antics that had already occurred while they were waiting for the teachers to begin weren't exactly acts he was keen on participating in. At least this was supposed to be an icebreaker, he could take interest in someone's quirk as a starting point for conversation. The mutants completely unsettled him, but one of the more normal-looking people must surely possess a power he'd find interesting.

He was tempted to ask right away about the pet carrier that Mori-sensei threw into the arms of one of the other students, but he figured he could wait after the girl's demonstration. Maybe she talked to dogs or something. The first volunteer seemed eager and sure of himself, so he probably had a powerful quirk. Mitsuo averted his eyes as the torrent of flame shot upward from Katsuro. Powerful quirk it is. Wait, did he say 'constantly emit'? Fire Hazard was aptly named, this guy was a ticking time bomb. How did he cook? Were there precautions in place or should Mitsuo just get used to the sound of fire alarms? It was an impressive display, sure, but not when he had to live near the guy.

The second girl's quirk was pretty impressive too, it looked kind of like his own but with less of a punch - pun not intended. At least, he assumed; none of her projectiles made contact with anything, but it seemed like they just transmitted the force she projected in her movements into an outward blast. And she was Zhao-sensei's daughter, judging by the last name. He could only assume she had a solid grasp on her quirk, or at the very least combat in general.

Feeling secure enough in his quirk now that he'd seen more people with vaguely similar abilities to himself, Mitsuo made his way to the forefront of the class, not quite making eye contact with any of them. Public speaking wasn't really his strong suit, especially when it had to do with his quirk. He wasn't eager to go back to being 'fireball boy', even if that would likely be overshadowed in its absurdity by the rest of the class. Seriously, there was a walking wad of bubblegum and a talking cactus.

"I'm, uh, Himaru Mitsuo," He toyed with his glasses nervously as he spoke, head tilted slightly downward, "My quirk's called Will-o-Wisp, 'cause that's what it looks like... i-it'll make more sense when I show you." Smooth.

Mitsuo turned around to overlook the concrete platform and held his arm outward in front of him. He positioned his palm vertically, generating a soft teal glow in the center. The light drifted forward to hover in front of Mitsuo's palm as it grew in size, now an incandescent orb about the size of a baseball. He looked around the scene in front of him, then tilted his head to look at the teachers with a lopsided frown forming at the edges of his mouth.

"Um... sorry, do you have a moving target or something? O-or a stationary one... I guess." Mitsuo timidly asked, still holding his wisp in place.

Spacenaut stepped onto the concrete platform with a representation of a smile on his visor. :) "I can help you with that, young man." his radio-like voice stated in a gentle tone, positioning himself behind Mitsuo and raising a forward facing fist outwards over his shoulder. "I'll fire a rocket. Don't worry, it's not live. Let me know when you are ready."

A panel on his forearm opened up, and the munition loaded itself into place. A hand grenade sized rocket ready to fire at Mitsuo's word.

Mitsuo shifted the fingers of his outstretched palm, forming an L-shape with his index finger and thumb. A rocket should fly more or less straight, he shouldn't need to work out any angles or do any complex movements. Easy shot. Hopefully. Don't miss. Don't miss.

"Ready. Diagonally upward is fine."

fwoosh!

The rocket shot forward from Spacenaut's arm and continued on a straight path towards the top of one of the pillars.

Mitsuo shifted his arm to follow the path of the missile, tilting the 'L' a bit for a better gauge on where he needed to shoot. Though, with a simple projectile like this, he was capable enough to wing it with relative ease. Mitsuo's posture visibly relaxed at this, and he shifted his arm forward in a subtle pushing motion to send the orb flying on a path that looked like it intersected with the rocket's trajectory. However, as the wisp got closer, it became clearly noticeable that Mitsuo had intentionally aimed too low.

The boy nonchalantly gave an upward flicking gesture with his hand, diverting the wisp's path into an upward curve that would allow it to impact with the rocket from below. Upon contact, the orb erupted outward in a fiery blue explosion, though only about a foot in diameter. The dented and scorched remains of the rocket recoiled uselessly into the arena below as Mitsuo turned back to face the class.

"I can generate explosive projectiles from my hands and... control them telekinetically, I guess? They're not very big, but they hit pretty hard and they're accurate, so..." His voice trailed off. He really didn't know how to make any more of a sales pitch for his ability than what he'd already demonstrated.

Mori-sensei loudly oohed at the show, the blue explosion glinting in her eyes as she stared up at Spacenaut and Mitsuo. "Bravo, Mitsuo-kun! Such an impressive degree of control over a beautiful looking quirk! I wonder how well you could do with multiple wisps, or maybe just one big one! Spirit bomb!" the woman's arms raised into the air as if she was calling on the energy of the world.

Spacenaut too gave him a congratulatory pat on the shoulder, feeling that his confidence wasn't really befitting of a student that capable. ೕ(•̀ᴗ•́) "Nice shot, son. Next time I'll make it harder for you." he returned to his place off of the platform.

Katsuro could be heard crushing his water bottle in his hands, though his expression was largely unchanged.

"Thank you, sensei." Mitsuo bowed his head sheepishly and went back to stand with the rest of the class. In his eyes, there was no need to get congratulatory over that. It wasn't like he did anything particularly challenging, that was just how his quirk works. Both teachers raised good points, though. Multiple wisps were a literal headache to try and control, and a hitting a less-predictably moving target would've been a far more impressive demonstration.

Seto Yuuki

Yuuki was calmly looking at the crowd when she felt something sneak up on her, immediately, she felt her tights and butt be squeezed, startling her, the girl letting out a soft eep sound. While she was still confused, the girl that had approached her moved up, starting to sniff her neck, this had been enough, and Yuuki answered by pushing against Emi, though with her powers activated, this caused her to move away from Emi instead.

”Thanks, but you city-folk need to respect personal space, okay? Seesh.” she answered in an indignant tone, hand brushing her hips slightly, a pout on her face.

Then the teachers started to speak, the one she thought was a city mascot turned out to be a teacher, Spacenaut, and then more followed him in introductions and instructions, Yuuki zoned out a bit midway, but she managed to follow the overall lead of what was being told. She followed them into the arena, where another teacher showed up, she had a punk look to her, Yuuki was a bit impressed such a person could be a teacher.

She waited her turn, gasping in amazement as she saw what others could do, she didn’t judge anyone’s personality, she was more interested in the shine things and the cool powers, and in that way she was not disappointed. Eventually she took the initiative and moved forward, into the stage.

”Heya, I am Seto Yuuki, I am from a small village in Ehime prefecture.” she said, raising her hand and waving. ”Uhhh. My power is doing this.” she focused for a moment and a layer of water covered her whole body, making her look as if she had just took a dip in water.

”I can coat my skin with water and this, uh, makes it so I can slide like this.” she moved foward and started ‘skating’ forward, moving increasingly faster as she gained momentum, she turned near the edges and continued, returning to the center.

”I can also recall it easily, and change the thickness to stop or change my direction, also uh, it works on all of my body, not just feet.” she allowed herself to lay on the floor, and indeed, this had no noticeable effect on her momentum, as her back, head and arms were all as slippery as any other part. With another turn, she stopped, splashing some water as she recalled the power. ”And this is it, I guess!” The small teen said.

Mori-sensei wowed at Yuuki's demonstration, taking to clapping when she came back to the center. "It's like you can skate around anywhere you go! Taking away friction could let you build up a lot of speed. Must be really fun to try downhill! I'm should take you to an ice rink and show you some moves to try out."

"Oh, I went downhill once, it was fun until the slop ended, then it was a bit of trouble." she said, walking towards the edge of the stage, until the teacher talked about the ice ring ”And I would love to, I tried to copy the movements of ice skaters but it's so hard doing it from video and my feet don't quite work like an ice skate's blade."

Suihara, Mizura

While the faculty made their spiels Mizura was mostly playing around with her phone. She wasn't really interested in some idealistic hogwash about how they would be embraced for their Quirks or how they would be serving the people. She had already made up her mind that the likely intention of this school was to provide some utility to the country. Their true purpose would be to act as some cold-hearted economic benefit, no more, no less. Any prattle about ideals and virtues was just dressing to make it seem more inviting. Mizura didn't really care in the end. She had come here to hopefully acquire a respectable career out of this. It was a new and developing field, and there was bound to be money to be made from it, and respect to be earned.

When they were all finally done, they were led out to some stage to show off their individual Quirks. Now they were getting to the meat of why they were here. Personally, Mizura was torn. Her usual strategy was to play the bimbo and let everyone underestimate her, but now she had a unique opportunity to start with a bang and try to impress everyone here. Who knew what these people expected from her? Or more importantly, who knew what they would actually want from her? She certainly knew nothing about what to expect from them.

As she thought on it, she decided to take notes on the people that went before her. The first was a boy called Ryuujin Katsuro. He seemed very sure of himself. Cocksure, somebody might say. He appeared to have some objection to the name of his own Quirk. She could only guess that somebody else had named it for him. Having used it in private, mostly concealed even from her own mother, Mizura had both named hers and spoken of it very little with others. Only Mizuro, who shared her Quirk, had been there to hear it named, and he couldn't have cared less at the time. Watching Katsuro's blazing display, Mizura noted down that she was going to call him 'Hot Stuff'.

The next one up was some Chinese girl called Zhao Emiko. She vaguely recalled hearing one of those staff types use the same name, but it didn't mean anything to her. She was more interested in what this Emiko girl could do. She seemed to have a sort of rapid fire energy blast Quirk. She had no idea why she was shouting while doing it. Maybe it helped her put more effort into the attacks? She seemed very flighty to Mizura, overall. Her nickname was going to be 'Fister'.

Then they had Himaru Mitsuo. He seemed to lack confidence. Watching him speak awkwardly on the stage was almost painful. At least his Quirk seemed alright. It wasn't flashy, but he could clearly control it well, and it had a certain oomph to it. Once he was done, he left the stage as meekly as he came onto it. She was going to call him 'Wisp'. Not just because of his Quirk, but because his personality sure made him seem like a wisp of a man.

Then there was Seto Yuuki. It turned out her Quirk involved water too. Was that something Mizura could exploit in the future? Time would have to tell. It seemed a whole lot more focused than her own Quirk. Rather than manipulating it freely, she just coated herself with it and could move around using it. Mizura wondered if she could do something similar if she tried. Her one big advantage seemed to be she could make water without need for an external source. That, or she was able to draw upon the water in her own body. Besides that, there wasn't much to say. Mizura decided to wait to give her any impromptu nicknames.

With Yuuki done, Mizura decided to take the initiative and take to the stage herself. Maybe people would get bored, seeing two water Quirks in a row, but they could just shut up and put up. Mizura just silently stepped up onto the stage and popped open the water bottles she kept within her clothes. As the water gathered in her right hand, she turned to speak to everyone present. "Hello darlings, my name is..." The characters for her name formed from her water as she spoke. "Suihara Mizura. The name of my Quirk is..." The characters reformed to form the name of the Quirk. "Waterpath. It lets me manipulate water by touching it. I bet you never would have guessed. Now let me give you a slightly longer demonstration..."

Mizura's water gathered at her feet. It then reformed into a mini-Mizura. Both Mizura and mini-Mizura started to dance. Both Mizura and mini-Mizura danced in perfect sync without missing a beat for a good minute before she stopped, melted mini-Mizura down and returned the water to her bottles and walked off the stage, blowing the crowd a kiss as she went.

Mori-sensei was very impressed with the show. She was laughing and having a great time watching her dance, and by the time it was over she was clapping for the performance. "Whoo! Thank you, Mizura-kun! That was a very fun way of showing what your Quirk can do. You must have practiced a lot for that! You'll have to show me a few moves while we develop your Quirk together."

"Thank you, Sensei, you're too kind." Mizura told her before joining the others. It was nice to see someone had enjoyed it, though she might have just been being polite. Mizura rejoined the crowd and prepared her phone to keep taking notes. There was a whole lot of people yet to go and she was going to tap something out for each and every one of them.

Itsuki Konomi

Konomi smiled as all of the teachers introduced themselves, though internally she was a bit worried about vigilantes teaching them to be heroes, she understood that there wasn't that much of a choice either way. There was little in the way of actual heroes right now and she doubted that any of them could afford the time to be both teachers and heroes at the same time. However, most of them seemed to be really nice anyway, Zhao-sensei seemed perhaps a bit too strict what with him being a military man, but she didn't mind that part about people at all really, strict people do often push people to do their best.

Then, however, came the quirk presentation she so dreaded. She didn't mind the fact that she had to present her quirk, it was obvious why she had to do that, what she was most scared off was everyone looking at her. Her quirk was nothing impressive in first place and everyone staring at her made her feel all the more nervous in the first place. So, she decided that it would be best to let other people first while she prepared herself mentally to eventually having to show off her quirk in front of a crowd of people.

The first person to present their quirk already slightly annoyed Konomi just by the sheer arrogance he displayed and at how he addressed even himself. She expected him to become the archetypal school bully considering he looked and talked like one. However, when his quirk was activated, she saw where the arrogance came from as a pillar of fire erupted from him. The flames constantly clung on to him, which would obviously make him extremely dangerous in any sort of close quarters engagement, however, she could not help but wonder how the boy would do his cooking if the gas did emit from him constantly.

The next person was a girl and from her introduction, it sounded like the girl was Zhao's daughter, which also meant that she was probably trained a lot in the use of her quirk. Emiko first launched a regular punch and a kick, throwing some sort of concussive force with each one, however when she started throwing them at a much faster pace, she could not help but smile widely. Not because of the quirk itself, that was impressive in it's own right, but because of the fact that she referenced when she launched them. She had watched Fist of the North Star a long time ago, but she could still remember it like she had watched it yesterday.

The next person was much more subdued than the last two, who both seemed to be confident about themselves and their quirks. His quirk however was not any less impressive, she looked in awe at the explosion caused by the Wisp itself and how it had turned what looked like a sturdy missile into scrap metal. As the boy left the stage, she smiled towards him and gave a thumbs up, a light boost to his confidence, she hoped.

The following student was yet another girl, this one however had a quirk that was not necessarily one who could be used in combat, though she did imagine that it would give the fire boy a bit of trouble. The girl could coat her skin in a layer of water and slide around as if she was ice skating. That in itself made it look like it would be extremely fun to have this quirk. If it were up to her, Konomi would do it absolutely the whole time, especially when she came to school.

Konomi took a deep breath afterwards and prepared herself to step forward to present her quirk and be done with it before any more people with even more impressive quirks did first. However, as she took a few steps towards the stage to present herself and her quirk, another girl had already been faster than her and got onto the stage first. Konomi awkwardly backed off from the stage itself, blushing all the while for the undue attention she had gotten for being too slow. She looked at the girl presenting her quirk, but barely, as she held her head down in shame, staring at the dance only with the corner of her eyes. Nevertheless, the water quirk itself looked really impressive, however, she was more hypnotized by the dance itself rather than the fact that she had used her quirk in tandem to dance with her.

She found herself staring towards Mizura perhaps a bit too long, even after she left the stage. However, after a few moments, Konomi shook her head, took a deep breath to help prepare herself for a bit and perhaps uncharacteristically, she moved rather abruptly onto the stage with a large pleasant smile on her face. "Hello everyone, my name is Itsuki Konomi and my quirk is called Demi-Cellular Divison." She said with the same light, confident looking smile. "Not the best sounding name, I know, but the person who came up with it is not very imaginative." She said, pointing to herself with a light chuckle. "Anyway, what my quirk does is it allows me to split my mass into two mini-me's!"

And with that, starting at her midriff, what was once Itsuki Konomi split into two little girl versions of herself, all with a wide childish smiles on their little faces.

"These clones are both controlled by me in a sort of ummm, hivemind if you will." The left clone said. "They can move apart as much as I really want them to and I can learn and can do things through them separately." The right clone said, the one speaking switching every time a sentence ended. "However, the clone only has a three day lifespan and if I don't recombine with it by the end of that lifespan, it dies and I am unable to absorb it and I am left in this form." She said. "That doesn't mean I'm stuck as a little girl, however. In order for me to regain my original form, I have to consume the mass I lost." She said, looking at all the students and teachers there through the two pairs of eyes she had now, looking for reactions in them.

"Wooooooow!" Mori-sensei cheered, this time actually running onto the platform. It seemed she couldn't wait until Konomi stepped off on her own. "What a unique Quirk! So you're Konomi-kun," she said while pointing at the one on the left, then moved her finger to the other clone. "and you're also Konomi-kun! Nice to meet you both! So your mass is divided equally among the copies, making you look much younger! It's cute! I wonder how far we could take that? Clones making clones making clones until we have a Konomi-swarm!"

"That is correct, sensei, though I'm afraid for now I can only split myself in two, I tried splitting before into more, but all I got from that was just a really strong headache!" The clone to the left said, with a frown before turning back into her usual child-like cheerful smile. She had to hold herself back from trying to hug Noriko, especially considering she was her teacher and the fact that everyone was watching them. So, she simply offered her the cutest smile she could muster before walking off stage, hand in hand, combining back into her regular self as she did so, feeling a bit more confident in herself now.

Quirk presentations quirk presentations! Hurrah and hurray! Haruki was so prepared for this. He'd been waiting for this moment all day! He'd practiced all yesterday, hopping in and out of his foster parents, much to their annoyance, but he had to be warmed up! He had to make a good first impression! He was about to volunteer himself before the suddenly appearing quirk development teacher, but then a lanky student did it first. Haruki pouted, but didn't complain outloud, instead watching the presentation intently. His quirk was a giant fireball thing, which was pretty cool for sure. Haruki's eyes widened at the explosion, and fisted hands pumped at his sides in excitement. Oh boy, this was going to be so cool, if this was what all the students were gonna be like then Haruki was going to be part of the best team ever!

He moved to volunteer again, only getting out "A-" before someone else did it for him. Okay, not angry. Just a bit pouty, and maybe frustrated, not angry though. He had taken his meds this morning so he was all fine. Okay, who was this white haired girl? Zhao Emiko huh? That's a Chinese last name! A real life Chinese person! Wow! He'd never seen one of those before! Her quirk was pretty cool too, concussive force blasts that she shot by punching?! Haruki kinda wished he had that quirk instead, but no matter, he'd trained enough with his own quirk to make something out of it, so he wasn't too jealous.

Especially because she was going to be jealous of him now that it was his turn- and someone else volunteered. Haruki yelled "Dawww!" and tore a bit of hair out of his chin in frustration. Ow. Okay, lightning round! Student, blond hair!~ Could shoot fireballs! Homing fireballs! Epic!

Cool, now that he was done it was Haruki's turn so he jumped to his feet and prepared to move andthensomebodyelsevolunteeredforFART'ssake.

He didn't even pay attention to her, he was so frustrated. Something about water, he was sure it was cool.

He came back to reality just to see another student volunteer.

Haruki felt like punching something. So he did. He punched his thigh really hard and fell over. Okay maybe he shouldn't punch himself.

Another water quirk! Huh... this student was dancing around to demonstrate. Haruki didn't know how to feel about that. Wait, maybe the villains would be so distracted that he'd be able to sneak inside them and bop them in the schnoz! He could see it now! Cool quirk water girl! He caught the kiss she threw and put it in his pocket for later, maybe his mom would like it.

He stepped forwards to volunteer, only to turn right back around as another student interrupted his attempts. This had to be a new record or something. Anyway, girl! Quirk that lets her split into smaller girls! Cool! Not a quirk he'd want but still cool!

Immediately after she left Haruki barged to the front, tired of waiting and sick of interruptions. He wanted a turn already! With a furrowed brow, he roared and charged up to the stage, holding his arms out to his sides to stop anyone from coming after him. He spun around and landed in a crouch, glowering at the lot of them. Good, nobody'd tried anything. He sighed, and rubbed at the patch of skin where he'd ripped the hair out of earlier.

Then he jumped up into the air. "HI! I'm Himura Haruki andI'msuperexcitedtobehereheyteacherscouldoneofyoustandrighttherekthanks!" he said, his mouth running like a motor and no breaths coming in as he turned to the teachers and pointed at a spot right in front of himself.

"Okay! Let me!" Almost immediately Mori-sensei dashed onto the concrete platform looking just as excited as the student was. She turned towards the crowd of students on the spot Haruki had requested, gloved hands on her hips. "Is right here okay?"

"Yep! Perfect!" Haruki replied with a hop onto one foot, holding up his hand excitedly. "Okay! My quirk lets me hop into somebody!... Okay it's easier if I demonstrate."

Which he did, jumping into Mori-sensei and disappearing with a slight wind-chime-like noise. A few moments later his hands appeared, fading into existence and floating just off of her shoulders. His right hand shook up and waved excitedly, before disappearing. Then Haruki jumped out of her back, flipping and landing on his right hand, which landed on her shoulder. He spread his limbs wide with a "Ta da!" then rolled off. He turned back around and bowed exaggeratedly. He had practiced this again and again, and it had gone exactly as he'd planned! This was fantastic!

Mori-sensei, despite knowing the gist of the student's quirks already, looked very bewildered when Haruki disappeared. When his arms manifested over her shoulders she let out a sort of surprised laughter. She almost lost her footing when Haruki preformed his headstand, not expecting the sudden weight, but stood steady for him to complete his show. Upon which she turned around and smiled at her student.
"Woah! That was so strange! Very well done, Haruki-kun. I don't think I've ever even seen something like that in comics! I can't even begin to think of all of the unique ways that could be used! But we'll find that out together!"

Haruki was very happy to hear that. So happy he almost started crying again. Instead he smiled widely with tightly closed eyes. Awesome! So frickin' awesome!

"I can't wait! I can't wait I can't wait!" he yelled over and over again, hopping from foot to foot as he moved off of the stage. He trotted his way back to where he was, a massive smile on his face.

Interactions: Mitsuhide Oyoshi (@tobiax)

Sure enough, one of the teachers had managed to spot Lacara, and stopped her before she could try to put her half-baked plan into action. She was surprised to hear that the man was capable of speaking English, but didn't care in the long run. She invested more of her concern to the fact that he was in her way, and talked in a manner that, although probably unintentionally, had still insulted her intelligence nonetheless.

"I'm aware of the 'obstructions', sir." Lacara made her anger known through gritted teeth, "The whole reason I want to go back to the front gate was so I could deal with said 'obstructions'...!"

But still Mitsuhide Oyoshi, the teacher that she was talking to, remained steadfast in impeding her way. Lacara already started to hate this man for having the audacity to try defending those sorry excuses for human beings. It was ironic, really; a program that was supposed to help quirk users with their quirks, and yet there was always some quirkless goon wanting a hand to keep them in line.

"Fine, then. You win this one," defeated, Lacara reluctantly give up on her crusade for now, and walked away.

...

Even as she returned to the other students, Lacara kept her distance from them all, and held a hand over her eyes as she brooded to herself. She barely even paid the slightest attention to the teachers' introductions, with most of what they had to say going straight through one of her ears and out the other. She wasn't in the mood to try and process much of anything right then and there. Sure enough, however, things moved on and it was now time for the students to showcase what exactly they were capable of...

Some of the quirks that were put on display were actually really cool, especially the first two. Others, not so much. But even the less interesting quirks received plenty of praise from one female teacher in particular. This in turn lead Lacara to believe that that specific teacher was easy to impress, which meant there was little to no reason why she should try and pull out of the stops. As it got closer to the middle of the demonstrations, Lacara breathed a sigh that indicated her desire to get this over with, and walked over to the same concrete area that everyone else had been showing off their quirks. She forced the biggest of beaming smiles that she could possibly make, knowing all too well that would be what it'd take to get any type of smile to actually hold.

"Hi, everyone!" she chimed, "My name is Hanzawa Lacara, although you can call me Rakara too if you find it easier; I don't mind. My quirk is something I like to call Volcanic Bod. I can erupt lava from my arms, shoulders, back, neck and even the head area. It's an emotion-based quirk though, and it already just went off of me before I got here, so it'll take a while before I can actually show it off. It typically activates whenever I feel a powerful surge of high-energy emotion... like when I get super excited, for example, or when I freak out over something, or get taken aback... or when I'm pissed off, obviously..."

It was obvious that Lacara had run out of things about her quirk to talk about. She didn't want to take up valuable stage time forever, so she had to steer the topic of discussion. Although what could get her quirk to trigger? Her life in Detroit? No, not much happened back then that would be of interest to everyone. Her feeling about UA? Yatsumi was the one to get excited over the discovery, not Lacara. The protesters outside? ...the protesters outside, perfect! Lacara had been meaning to get that off of her chest, and this was her chance.

"Y'know what grinds my gears?" Lacara asked rhetorically, "Everyone at the front gate that was booing at us for just being us. A part of me didn't want to show up at all today just because I knew this was going to happen. And yet here I am, at the side entrance with everyone else despite wanting to charge through the front gate so I could make a statement."

She could feel the skin on her left shoulder starting to bubble. It wasn't just there either; the underside of her right forearm, both sides of her neck and even her scalp could be seen with that same bubbling. This was the beginning of a huge chain reaction, as Lacara's anger soared straight through the roof of what she originally thought was possible.

Unable to stop her rant any more, she instinctively switched to her native language in English.

"Those assholes think they're so entitled to blocking our path and saying whatever they want, but that's not true at all. They're barely even entitled to the air they fucking breathe, yet they take it anyway. And besides that; who decided that they get to be so pissy anyway? Can't they just shut the hell up and let quirk users live their god-damned lives?! They have absolutely no right to be anywhere near as angry with us as I am with them! All the lies and slander they shit out on a daily basis! IT'S ALL TOO FUCKING SICKENING!!"

...

Spacenaut had leaped into action when he saw the beginnings of an eruption. He placed himself between the spectators and the visor went completely dark. Both armored hands raised out in front of him and produced a vibrant blue light from his palms which quickly expanded into a wide-spanning shield of ionized air. The particles in the shield were excited to such a degree that it knocked away anything that touched it. It was barely enough time to react but he contained the potential danger.

Lacara noticed the force field being formed just at the last second, but by the end of it, she fell to one knee, wheezing and gasping for air as almost her entire body was drenched in lava from all the eruptions that had been set off in between. Tears cascaded down from her eyes, only to sizzle and boil away before they roll any further down than the center of her cheeks. She tried to ignore the pain that had surged from where each eruption occurred, but it was all too much.

Mori-sensei was awestruck, shocked, worried, but mostly excited at the spectacle that had just taken place. Lacara's quirk was raw uncontrolled power and was triggered by emotion. She wanted to express her excitement to work with the student but found herself struggling to do so with her in such an emotional state. The wrong words just might set off another eruption. Maybe it was best to just be gentle with her for now.

"That was a very informative demonstration, Rakara-kun. I can't wait to see more from you," she stated in a false professional tone, she was shaking trying to contain herself. "Thank you."

Lacara simply nodded in acknowledgement. It would take a while to collect herself, but once she did, she stepped off the arena and allowed Spacenaut to cool down the lava that was still on it. But just as she was about to return to the other students, she turned to face Mori-sensei.

"Actually, if you're going to thank anyone, you should thank Spacenaut-sensei for protecting everyone," she told her.

With that, she sat back down and waited for Spacenaut to finish cooling the lava, which he had to do before any more demonstrations could continue.

Seo offered the other students that came in only the briefest of glances as he flipped through the well-worn pages of his book. He wasn't really reading it though, his eyes skimming over the words without really gathering their meaning. It was an old story detailing the life of a young boy searching for his lost family, all the while avoiding the wiles of monstrous demon's looking to feast on his bones. Nothing more than a silly old folk tale, something that was read by children to teach them morals or impart lessons . . . and yet Seo probably would be lying if he hadn't felt a kinship with the young boy in the story when he was younger. Even now, as he glanced around, a slight swell of anxiety still coursed through him, though it was quickly pushed to the side as they were all called to gather with their new teachers.

The young orphan lagged behind the group as a whole, situated himself somewhere off to the side of the main group as he watched the former vigilantes introduce themselves. Seo held at least a passing familiarity with most of them, having even imitated their styles of heroism a few times himself. It had been a whim more than anything else, but apparently, it had been enough to get him noticed by this place or, at least, by Spacenaut. To say that Seo kind of idolized the man would not be incorrect, so having the recommendation to U.A. be from him was. . . strange to him. Not unpleasant, however. . .

Unless he's just trying to watch over any problematic freaks before they become a problem for him in the future. Seo couldn't help the creeping thoughts of cynical doubt that crept into his mind, souring his expression as his eyes fell back to his story, barely paying attention to the teachers after Spacenaut's first big speech. One guy was a military man, the other was a government guy, and there was some ditz of a woman that had come in late. Not really the vision of professionalism that most imagined from their teachers,

As the demonstrations started up, Seo kept inside of his bubble, glancing up every now and then while keeping most of his attention on his book. The fire guy seemed to be a blowhard, but nothing he couldn't deal with or ignore. . . at least, when he wasn't lighting up like an exposed gas line. The girl after seemed alright, if too cheery for him to want to deal with. He noted that she seemed to have better control of her quirk than most kids he'd met, however, tho he had no clue what the hell she was screaming or. He also caught that she ditzy teacher seemed to whisper to her afterward though. . . . curious.

After the punching girl, however, was a kid who Seo completely tuned out until one of the other teacher's firing a rocket. Lowering his book a bit to get a better look at the cause, he noted the wimpy-looking kid seemed to at least have good control of his quirk, which definitely seemed to be an ill-fit for such a pathetic individual. Two girls came after that didn't really do much personally to interest him aside from their quirks, one being a living slip and slide and the other a more classic manipulator type with a penchant for theatrics. And the last one was the girl who had checked in before him, seeming to have the ability to split herself in half. A neat power that would probably be more useful if she didn't seem to regress to half her size to use it.

When the next guy came up, all hyperactive and impatient, Seo couldn't help the small grimace that came over his face at the thought of dealing with them. However, when they suddenly hopped *into* the teacher, it took every ounce of his control not to jump out of sheer revulsion.

Note to self: Stay the fuck away from that kid. He shivered, closing the book for a moment as he tried to collect himself. By the time he got a hold of himself, the next person game up, a gyaru-lookin' girl who seemed content to just ramble on about something or other while she was on stage. To be honest, Seo was almost as tuned out with her as he was with the human firework show. . . until she nearly killed the lot of them by literally blowing her top mid-rant. Seo gave a sigh of relief, glad that Spacenaut was there to divert the lava spew, while also wondering what that girl was thinking. Did she have absolutely no control over her damn quirk?!?!

The armored man had been focusing on the demonstrations from the other students, but between two volunteers he had realized that Seo hadn't gone up yet and didn't look like he was going to. He had personally invited Seo to apply at UA, hoping that it would help him find his place in the world, but it wasn't going to work if he made no effort to involve himself in the program.
(ー_ー )
Spacenaut tapped his pointer finger against his wrist and out popped a spherical drone no bigger than a tennis ball. White around most of it's exterior but with a black lens similar to his helmet. It silently, subtly, weaved around the crowd to place itself in a hover in front of Seo. It spoke in a volume only audible to him.
"Hey, Yasuhide-kun. I think it's about time you went up there. You'll need to get acquainted with your classmates sooner or later, so give it a shot.

Seo didn't respond to the machine, but he didn't ignore it either as his book remained closed while it hovered in silence for a brief moment. He did refuse to look it in the eye(or lens in this case), keeping his faze low as he picked at some blades of grass. The drone gave a small nod towards the stage before zooming back to its master, the teacher probably hoping that this little nudge would help move the boy along.

As the drone flew away Seo gave a sigh of his own, glancing down at the worn book in his hand for a moment more before getting up with a muttered grumble under his breath.

"Might as well get it over with." He wrung his hands a bit as he got up, mind swirling as an idea sprung to mind of how to properly introduce himself.

After a few steps, he was on the stage wearing a mask of a grin as he took off his jacket and tossed it to the floor, rolling up the sleeves of his undershirt with a bit of a showy flair. Once that was done he turned to the crowd proper with an exaggerated bow. As he rose from it, however, a slight tug from his conscious made him wonder if he should really do this right now, but he shook the thought off as quickly as it came. There was no turning back now. Besides, what he had in mind was tame compared to what he would normally due to psych his classes out.

"Name's Yasuhide WhoTheFuckEvenCares, Quirk name is unimportant, and what it does is this." With a slight flourish, he flipped his hands over in a circular motion, wincing as lines of red sprung forth along his forearms. With another motion, he caused an array of flowing sanguine spikes to spill out from the cuts, following the pattern of wounds along his arms as they undulated and pulsed in rhythm to his beating heart. "Not as fancy as explosive orbs, water skates, or volcanic zits. . . but I make do. I'll tell ya tho, hurts like a bitch."

With a snap of his fingers the spikes crystallized into a translucent crimson crystal formation, and snapping them again turned them back into their normal liquid state the slowly retreated back into Seo's body. All that was left behind was a number of crisscrossing lines of red along his arms. Wringing the numbness out of his hands, Seo walked off the stage back to his spot, hissing a bit as the cuts started to sting a bit in the open air. Sneaking a glance towards the teachers, he was glad that his powers worked the way it did so the way he winced when he saw Spacenaut's digital expression likely was seen as a reaction to his cuts instead.

(꒪⌓꒪)

Welp, I definitely made an impression on him. Seo thought with a sigh, mentally cursing his inability to just go along with the program. Another curse soon followed(this one out loud) as the Ditzy teacher soon made her own displeasure known.

Noriko gasped at the demonstration, but it wasn't the blood that made her upset. Really, it was his indifferent attitude that upset her. She seemed a lot less excited about his quirk to this end, even frowning at the boy. "Seo-kun! Language, please! Your quirk is very interesting, but you should try to take this a little more seriously! No more of this attitude in class!" It was brief and felt more like scolding than the excited rant the others had gotten, but he had earned that for himself.

Just let it go. Seo told himself, even as his steps slowed to a stop halfway back to his previous spot. Don't snark back. It'll only dig the hole deeper. His voice of reason proved ineffective in stopping the gears in his head from churning out a quick response, the grin on his face as he turned back to Noriko made it quite clear that he was not at all ashamed of his actions.

"Oh come on , uh. . . Mori right? I'm pretty sure everyone here has heard much worse language than that just from our 'fan club' outside the front gates." The red along his arms filtered back into the air, coalescing into a construct of a hand flipping the teacher the bird as he turned away, the self-satisfied mask of a smile still firmly on his face as he made his way back. "I was just trying to keep things a bit light-hearted and besides, I'm not wrong. I doubt anyone here really cared that much about my little presentation."

With his piece said Seo recalled the construct back into his body while internally smashing his head against a wall. Did I have to also flip her off? No, no I didn't. Fucking hell. . . Again the boy mentally cursed himself as he fell back into his former seat, opening his book back to its previous page while also awaiting the punishment that would surely come after that brazen act of defiance and disrespect. Well. . . at least that should serve as enough of a deterrent to keep people from bugging me. . . silver linings and all that. . . ugh, what the hell is wrong with me.

L O C A T I O N
UA Highschool - Staging Grounds

T A G S
@Jojo

M U S I C
From her place in the back of the pack, Nadeshiko found her worry rising once more at the sudden announcement that they would be expected to demonstrate their abilities. It was to be expected, considering the description of the Heroics course, but to have to stand on a what turned out to be a massive stage and display her shame for near enough two dozen people? It was the type of thing she had hoped to have time to warm up to. To be expected march bravely before their peers not ten minutes after arrival and "show their stuff" without reservation was absurd. Thankfully, class 1-A was comprised of individuals bolder than she in its majority, and so while she toyed with the hem of her skirt, someone stepped up to plate.

Cowardly as she was, the mutant did manage the small kindness of leveling her eyes to watch the display. She recognized the boy who took the spotlight first, a student who had attended middle school with her. Ryūjin-san hadn't shared a homeroom with her, but he was not the type of person that was hard to notice in spite of distance. In the sea of her more normal peers, seeing the occasional flash of flame on campus served as a beacon of solidarity back then. That she was not alone in her hardship, though the blazing boy on stage never seemed to buckle under the weight his own abilities as she did. She would have admired that quality, when she was a more hopeful person, but now she could only see it as misguided. He fought a losing battle out of pride, or fear, or the hurt that surrender would bring on perhaps. Accepting reality was painful at first, but there was comfort in its finality.

It was not particularly comfortable watching the resulting fire show. She had a particular aversion to fire, and watching him loose wispy waves of blazing gas left her to ponder how she would fair against someone with such a Quirk if she were to become a "Hero". Demonstrations came and went, blasts of energy and explosives cracking in the sky, water that moved free of external control and a Quirk that nearly singed the audience with its violent nature. Could she truly compete with people whose abilities were so destructive? She did not have the ability to lift a truck with ease, or launch lightning from her palms, or any number of more useful abilities. She was just slime. Malleable, bereft of structure, weak. A melancholy fell upon her more strongly than before. How was she of all people going to keep up?

Pensiveness gave way to a sharp realization as Nadeshiko peered from beneath gooey bangs to her fellows, watching another boy descend from the stage after a scolding. There were not so many individuals left in line for demonstration. She would be expected to go soon, lest she have to endure the embarrassment of being last. Perhaps it did not matter, as all eyes would be on her anyway. A sigh broke free from between her lips. Part of her hoped that the others would be merciful in their judgement. Now was the time to grow a spine.

She pulled free the mask she had worn across her face and tucked it into the pocket of her jacket, which too was shed and placed in a neat bundle on the ground. Her blazer joined it as well, and the goo girl rolled up the sleeve of her blouse as she forced one leg to move after the other, making way for the arena. They all had Quirks too, she tried to remind herself, though it was of little comfort as she tangled with the reflexive anxiety of exposing the glossy pink "skin" of her arm to the world.

Had she the lungs to accomplish it, she would have likely taken several deep breaths to steady herself as she padded towards center stage. For all Nadeshiko was privy to, the other students could've been absorbed in their own worlds, for she found some badly needed comfort in directing her eyes to the smooth marble tiling below her feet. If nothing else it certainly helped in stepping around the smoldering remains of magma that lay scattered about the platform. Once she arrived, she did not do the crowd the honor of establishing the long denied eye contact expected of a presenter. Instead, she held up her exposed arm to draw attention to it. Now would be the time to test her earlier hypothesis.

"My name is Akizawa Nadeshiko," she managed, her voice somehow retaining an edge of unease despite its softness. Speaking truly wasn't her strength. "My Quirk is called Gelatinany. It is a Heteromorphic Quirk. My entire body is comprised of a smooth, pink goo rather than flesh or bone."

Flinching at the awkwardness of her own disjointed explanation, she decided to move onto the demonstration portion, in the hopes that the effort would distract her from the sinking sensation in her stomach. Knitting her brow, she willed her body to conform to the image in her head. The long, ropey bands of "hair" around her head began to shorten themselves as they retracted into her head. Where they once reached the top of her lower back, the tips just barely dangled about her temples as she styled them into a fairly simple bob-cut, a style she had practiced in the past. Unimpressive as hair styling was, though, it was not where her demonstration ended.

Those with particularly able eyes would see the mass lost from her hair traveling down her neck and across her shoulders in a small bulge. It slide down the bicep of her exposed arm, creeping downwards until it reached her wrist. The mass of goo then flooded forth, swelling the petite form of her right hand. Churning and stretching, it took a shape identical to that of a large foam finger.

"Since my body's composition is quite malleable, I can change its shape to fit my whims." As if to further illustrate the point and dispel any belief she was a sports fan, the mass of goo shifted once more. This time, it flooded back upwards into her arm, where the slender limb filled outwards and shaped itself into a muscular, powerful looking appendage distinctly out of place on such an averagely proportioned girl.

After a moment it once again shifted, the arm losing its bulk in favor of length as it transformed into a long, flexible tentacle of pink sludge that wiggled about for a moment before Nadeshiko willed it to return to shape, hesitant to strain herself further with such advanced manipulations. As it shrunk, the goo slowly made its way northwards once more until the hair that draped Nadeshiko's shoulders was once again full length.

"I... hope that was sufficient."

Mori-sensei looked absolutely fascinated with Nadeshiko's demonstration, it was almost as if she was barely stopping herself from running up onto the platform to get a literal feel for her body's properties. The woman instead watched carefully as Nadeshiko's body changed shape and wondered what that would feel like if she could do the same. She did a wave motion with her arms and imagined them instead as boneless goop.

"That's soooooooooo cool!" Mori-sensei cooed, clearly a new fan of Nadeshiko's. "I have so many questions for you, but they'll have to wait until everybody has gotten a turn! Your Quirk is certainly unique and I hope we learn a lot from each other!"

Nadeshiko gave a small bow in response to the cheer. The acknowledgment felt nice, though the complimentary nature of sensei's words was significantly dulled by the way she enthusiastically praised each and every student. It was her job, after all, to make them confident and bold. Just another part of her job. At least nobody in the crowd had recoiled... she hoped. Nadeshiko once more made a hasty retreat, eyes locked towards the ground, and went about fixing her uniform while the next student inevitably took her place.

Ebisugawa Hyouka

@liferusher

While Hyouka was still posing, someone suddenly came up to her and began poking her in the claws, belly, and cheeks, causing Hyouka to flail back in surprise and putting her claws up in a comical defensive posture. "Wha-wha-what are you doing? Y-your favorite? What?" Hyouka called out, embarrassed and flustered, but as Emi soon slinked off to ruffle someone's hair, Hyouka just pegged it as an overly-friendly demeanor. While slightly invasive, friendliness was a good attribute for a hero, and Hyouka silently approved.

But was this friendly girl a fellow classmate, or another of the quirkless, come to welcome her class? Hyouka suddenly straightened up and pounded her 'fist' into her 'palm' again, making a 'clack' sound, as she realized that there were many quirks that were not immediately, visibly obvious. Perhaps she had made a crucial mistake, though the people preceding her had not made an effort to correct her. Maybe they were just shy. Or maybe...they wanted to keep it a surprise! That's good showmanship, also a great attribute for a hero! But as if to answer Hyouka's desire to see more people with obvious quirks, soon there arrived a girl with orange eyes, but the whites of their eyes were black, a boy with dog ears(!), a girl who looked to be made of some pink, translucent semisolid, and a girl who was a walking cactus. MY FAMILY! Hyouka wanted to greet each and every one of them in turn, but a sudden onset of social timidity followed by indecision on who she wanted to greet first, caused her to gesture and mutter indecisively until the teachers called everyone to follow them to quirk demonstrations.

Hyouka followed excitedly, realizing that everyone who was standing around all followed the teachers. That means they all had quirks! Intrigued and curious, Hyouka's desire to see other quirks in action made her forget for a time that she was supposed to demonstrate as well. As it was, she threw her claws up and shouted "BANZAI!" whenever a particularly showy display occurred, but at least one banzai for every student that went, though for Mitsuo, she shouted, "TAMAYA!", the classic shout for viewing fireworks. So many fire quirks! Fire was the classic element of Red Rangers, so these were definitely heroes. And the Chinese girl could extend her punches and kicks with...Qi? Like a Kung Fu fighter? Knowing martial arts was a Super Sentai staple! And some water quirks! Classic Blue Ranger element! Then there was kage bunshin no jutsu! And bodily possession!

Then there came a bit of a lull in the mood during Lacara's demonstration. But it was another fire quirk! A bit explosive, but explosive passion was a heroic attribute! Hyouka could understand Lacara's rage, but it was a part of the hero's journey to struggle through it. Seo's demonstration also soured the mood a bit, resulting in a minor altercation with the one female teacher. While the attitudes shown were not very hero justice of them, Hyouka could empathize with their rage, or the walls they may have built to protect themselves. besides, the very fact that they were here trying to be heroes, instead of becoming villains, meant their heart was in the right place, and that was half the battle.

Finally, Nadeshiko went up, the first mutant to demonstrate her awesome physiology, but also breaking Hyouka out of her quirk-admiration daze. So when Nadeshiko left, Hyouka got up on the stage. "I'm Ebisugawa Hyouka!" she introduced herself, bowing, causing her antennae, like before, to flip around and slap the ground in front of her. "My quirk is called, 'Shrimp'." She lifted her mismatched claws and clicked her pincers to demonstrate, and turned around to wag her big shrimp tail. "I have very powerful grip strength..." She headed over to the concrete spike/pillar farthest from the audience, gripped it at the base where it was narrow with both claws and cracked the concrete, causing the pillar to fall over like a stone tree. She ran back to face the audience to continue her demonstration, and in her excitement and fluster, she hadn't at all considered that she was damaging school property. ...my shell is extremely durable..." Now, with her claws crossed in front of her, she clumsily ran towards the pillar nearest the audience, colliding with it and falling over from the force of the impact. Getting up she continued, ...See? I'm not hurt! And finally..." she looked at Zhao-sensei and Emiko, hoping to show off her understanding of Chinese from watching kung fu movies with her dad. She crouched down and lifted her tail up. Then she simultaneously straightened her legs while slamming her tail down, and launched herself ten feet into the air, shouting, "WAI FAI BAT PO!" However, she made the mistake of using the Cantonese dialect, which is commonly used in kung fu movies which started in the city of Hong Kong, and can sometimes be incomprehensible to those who spoke Mandarin, the common dialect of China. The statement means 'only speed is unbreakable', and was something Hyouka liked to say when performing a quick and audacious action. She landed, sending a shock into her ankles and knees, the pain bringing tears to her eyes. Soldiering on, Hyouka concluded with, "These are the things I can do on land. Underwater, I'm a great swimmer. I can even breathe underwater. Thank you!" She bowed again, and walked off stage. All in all, Hyouka's demonstration looked like a scene from the movie, Jackass, where drunk idiots try to hurt themselves on camera.

Mori-sensei was quite visibly and audibly impressed by the demonstration, despite Hyouka's childlike demeanor she displayed very impressive strength. When one of the pillars fell simply from the crushing strength of she yeeped in surprise, it was a good thing that the quirk use areas were quite literally built with the knowledge that it would be destroyed and rebuilt countless times. The vertical leap renewed her cheers, and being reminded that she could breathe underwater made her regret not having a water feature for the arena itself. When the student stepped off of the arena, Mori-sensei was waiting for her to give comments and praise.

"Hyouka-kun, that was fantastic! I read up on your quirk details but seeing it in person is such a treat! I will advise you though to be more careful with yourself. I know your shell is tough, but we don't want to see you get hurt here. We'll have to work all that energy off together during my classes, okay?"

"Ah! U-understood, sensei!" Hyouka replied, awkwardly giving a salute. She walked back into the crowd, beaming with joy and anticipation.

Hattori Himōri

• Present Day, Quirk Demonstrations •

Students stepped forward, and Quirks were displayed. Some Quirks were eye-catching, others were subtle. There were those who were confident, those who were timid, and all displayable emotions in-between.

No matter what, however, Himōri watched each and every demonstration with a wide, awe-filled gaze.

She understood the concept behind Quirks, that there were as many as there were stars under the sky, and that each person that had one was likely to have a Quirk different from others. She had come here understanding that, admiring it even, but she hadn't understood how varied the Quirks could be.

Within the span of a few minutes of each other, she's seen pyrotechnics, energy blasts, hydrokinesis, body-related manipulations, and mutant physiques. All different in their own ways, even though a few overlapped in some aspects. And with each one, the brunette couldn't help but feel a bit inferior in a sense, her hands balled into fists as they clutched the sleeves of her sweater. Everyone at the demonstration was there to become more than a freak, to make something of the curses and gifts they've been given, to become heroes.

How was she going to be able to compete with them?

It wasn't a competition, at least not in a conventional sense, but Himōri couldn't help but compare herself to them. If one were to go by looks alone, she was clearly the least qualified to become a hero. Even those who're mostly human on the surface held themselves in ways that she found herself lacking. Many of the quirks that had come before were powerful, and those of a less flashy variety were useful in their own rights.

Yet despite her inner woes, the bundled up girl moved to present her quirk next after the young shrimp girl who seemed to have a flair for theatrics. She slapped her cheeks with a loud "smack" in a vain attempt to settle herself, and as she turned around to look out towards her potential classmates, it was obvious to any keen-eyed observer that she was trying her very best to keep herself calm.

"H-Hello." Himōri quickly cleared her throat when she caught herself stuttering, placing her hands to her chest to still her heart before continuing her introduction.

"I'm Hattori Himōri, and my Quirk is named 'Silk Weave', a transformative Quirk that makes my body turn into silk that I can control at will."

Her head turned to look at the woman everyone seemed to be asking to help them with their Quirk demonstrations, though she seemed to struggle for a bit with indecision before she called out to the Quirk Development Specialist. "Mori-sensei, could I ask you to stand next to me? I... can't really show what my Quirk can do very well without something or someone to manipulate"

”Oh? I’d love to help you demonstrate, Himōri-kun!” Mori-sensei swiftly and eagerly returned to the platform to stand next to her as instructed. With her arms on her hips she faced her body toward the audience, eyes locked onto Himōri to witness the Quirk demo, participant or not.

With the strangely excitable teacher by her side, Himōri closed her eyes and began to breathe in and out in a even manner, calming herself as each breath became longer and longer. After a few breaths, the skin on her cheeks seemed to peel away, tiny tendrils of what was once human flesh morphing into beige silk as the rest of her body followed suit. Within moments, there was only thousands of silk strands in a shape that was once Himōri before it surged out of her clothing like a deluge, leaving her heavy coverings behind.

The silk strands moved together in unison as it wove itself into a shape before the class' very eyes, no longer individual lengths of silk, morphed into a singular, long strip of cloth save for a small, circular bundle near one end. Anyone well-versed with textiles would notice how finely knit the silk was woven, so close together it was almost like it was never apart in the first place. The cloth that Himōri had transformed into quickly moved to wrap around Mori-sensei and lock her tightly, slithering up and around the woman's body in a similar manner as a boa constrictor until only her shoulders and head were visible, the spiral shape created by the binding seamlessly weaving together into a single, air-tight piece.

Mori-sensei’s smile grew ever wider as Himōri’s transformation occurred. The brunette’s Quirk was a very interesting one, and she was particularly interested in seeing it in action. Being up close and personal was an added treat for her, so much so that she remained calm and respectful during the demonstration, even as she was enveloped and wound tightly by the silk mass that was once her new student. As soon as the capture was complete, she made an effort to struggle and writhe within the silk’s embrace, finding it impossible to work out of with strength alone.

”My my, you’re so strong in this form! You’re like a super blanket!”

The cloth seemed to wave a bit in response to Mori-sensei’s remark before it unraveled to allow the teacher to move around a bit, only to configure herself into a different shape, binding the woman's wrists and ankles and pulling them back. A few pieces of cloth extended from the main bit to ease her fall to the ground on her chest, but by the time she touched the arena's floor the teacher was lightly hogtied, the bindings tightened and loosened experimentally with Mori-sensei's reactions as to not hurt the woman in the uncomfortable position. The rest of the cloth had extended to wrap around one of the pillars standing in the arena to demonstrate just how much cloth she had at her disposal. Throughout the demonstration, Mori-sensei didn’t look at all displeased with being handled like so, despite being tied up and face down on the arena.

Suddenly, as if the cloth that was once a student realized about what placing a teacher in such a situation would look like, the cloth unbound Mori-sensei and surged back into the clothing left behind, filling in all the space between as Himōri reconstructed herself. First her feet, her legs, then her hips, torso, neck, and finally her head, flushed with embarrassment.

"I-I'm sorry, Mori-sensei," Himōri quickly apologized to the fallen teacher as she hastily moved to the woman's side, helping her up while simultaneously bowing repeatedly as if it could wipe away what she'd just done.

"I wasn't thinking. I only meant to show how strong I could bind my silk together. Please forgive me!"

Mori-sensei grabbed hold of one of Himōri’s hands with both of her own and stood up with the offered assistance, but didn’t allow the student to withdraw her hand. Instead, the teacher shook her hand up and down as if to congratulate the brunette and assure her that she wasn’t upset.

”No no no, it’s okay! Your Quirk is super cool! I had a lot of fun! Besides, do you know what my Quirk is? I’ve put people into similar sticky situations, so it was fun to see what it’s like on the other end of a capture Quirk! I can’t wait to work with you!”

Immediately, Himōri’s cheeks flushed red, though if it was from embarrassment caused by the praise or pride in the fact that a teacher recognized her Quirk, one couldn’t say for sure. Not even herself. "Th-Thank you, Mori-sensei. I look forward to working with you too!”

The young woman bowed at the waist toward her future teacher before she moved to step down from the arena, her hands clutched firmly in the middle of her chest as she breathed heavily to keep her excitement from exploding for everyone to see. For a teacher to actually acknowledge her as someone they’d want to teach was more than she hoped for.

Despite the fears and unease that clouded her future, Himōri couldn’t wait to start her year at UA. If things kept going as well as they have, maybe things would be better in this school than the last.

Nyoko immediately became attentive when the staff for the school stepped out to speak. Her parents would approve of a military and government presence within the school. A structured and rigid program was something that she might be able to utilize to her advantage in selling her parents on the idea of letting her stay at the school, and might prevent them from entertaining the notion of trying to interfere with her attendance at UA.

As Zhao-sensei introduced himself and spoke, Nyoko felt a sense of anticipation, but also felt intimidated by him. She got the impression that his military expertise would be unpleasant when it came to helping her hone her abilities, but would also help mold her into a better hero. Perhaps she was wrong, but she assumed those with military backgrounds were disciplined and provided training regiments that seemed harsh and pointless.

After the staff began to lead them towards the arena, Nyoko followed and kept to the back of the group in order to observe as everyone began to debut their Quirks. A part of her was eager to get her demonstration out of the way, but she also knew the repercussions that her demonstration might have. She wasn’t looking forward to dealing with the backlash of her Quirk just yet. She also didn’t mind waiting since she was curious to see what her classmates were capable of.

Ryuujin’s introduction caused her mouth to twitch out of annoyance. His arrogance was something else, but his Quirk was equally as impressive as his ego. The Quirk demonstration that followed his had the opposite effect on her. Nyoko’s admiration towards Zhao was more genuine, perhaps because she felt a sense of camaraderie because of the girl’s ability. However, Nyoko didn’t think they were on the same level. While Nyoko could manipulate energy with her Quirk, she wasn’t able to expel it from her body. There also didn’t seem to be a noticeable backlash.

The way Himaru seemed to lack confidence bothered her. Maybe it was because he had to follow two people with powerful Quirks. She didn’t know whether he had little self esteem in general or if he wasn’t confident in his Quirk, but Nyoko was of the mindset that people should own their Quirk. She could forgive the former, but the latter was a bit harder for her to accept. His Quirk was just as impressive of the previous two. If things kept up then it would become difficult for her to make a good impression.

Nyoko felt a similar kinship with Seto as she did with Zhao. Her ability had a certain familiarity with the use of momentum. With that similarity, she began to feel a bit envious towards the other students. It seemed that her classmates have a better handle on their Quirks, or at least there was no obvious setbacks from the use of them. Seto looked so effortless in the use of her Quirk, and the students before her hadn't seemed to have any limitations. Although perhaps they weren't obvious.

Seeing two water Quirks, especially so close together came as a bit of a surprise. The manipulation of water would have been more impressive to Nyoko if it wasn't for the dance. It cheapened the demonstration with the way that it came across more as a talent show act. It was a display of talent, but not that kind of talent. In a different setting, she may have enjoyed Suihara's act. Even with Mori-san's praise of the effort that went into it, Nyoko couldn't bring herself to properly acknowledge it as a proper Quirk demonstration.
Itsuki’s Quirk wasn’t a particularly flashy display, but Nyoko found the Quirk useful. The fact that she could split herself into two copies of herself wasn’t remarkable on it’s own, but the way that she was the two could act independent of one another and also be connected telepathically was awe inspiring.

Anxiety rattled her when she realized what Himura's Quirk was. The idea of someone being inside of her creeped her out. It also made her worry about him being able to control her, or possibly be able to read her mind. She didn't look forward to the possibility that she might have to fight against him for a training exercise or something.

Nyoko shared Hanazawa's disdain for the protestors out front. However, she was of the impression that punishing the protestors instead of trying to get them to understand those with Quirks wasn't the right answer. Not because she didn't want to punish them, but that she was worried negativity would only cause them to double down rather than become more accepting. If punishing them did cause them to be accepting of Quirks then it would be for the wrong reasons. They would accept out of fear, and not because they were genuinely able to see the positive aspects of Quirk use. Nyoko didn't want to continue to foster negative connotations with Quirk users by letting her anger get the better of her, but she couldn't exactly change Hanazawa's mind on the matter at the moment.

Regardless of her opinion on the protests, Nyoko had a similar feeling about Hanazawa's remarks to Suihara's Quirk demonstration. Such views didn't have a place during a Quirk demonstration. The focus should be on the Quirks themselves. However, she finds Lacara's Quirk impressive. However, she also thought that Hanazawa would be one of the more difficult opponents for her. The lava seemed pretty dangerous.

Yasuhide's Quirk seemed a bit gruesome. It was almost difficult for her to watch due to the sight of the blood. She could probably fight against him, but she wouldn't be happy about it. The manipulation of blood almost made her sick to her stomach. The first impression she had of Yasuhide was made more negative when he talked back to the teacher. The disrespectful attitude bothered her more than the Quirk did.

The lack of confidence that Akizawa had was easy for Nyoko to forget. She didn't see many mutation Quirks and so she was more focused on watching the girl than paying any actual attention to any indicators of personality or what may have been said. It would be interesting to see the ways that the Quirk was used.

Something about the way Ebisugawa presented herself made it difficult for Nyoko to take her seriously. She expected something with little impact in the way of a Quirk demonstration, but was surprised when Ebisugawa was able to topple the pillar. Hattori's Quirk wasn't immediately impressive like the others, but even her Quirk seemed to be useful in its own way.

Each demonstration caused Nyoko's confidence to gradually ebb away more and more. Each Quirk was powerful in its own way and she wasn't certain that she would be able to create the same level of impact. Maybe it was because she knew the inner workings of her own Quirk and the limitations that were in place, but there didn't seem to be any limitations based on what she had seen. The initial plan had been to stand back and wait until it seemed like everyone had demonstrated their Quirk. With her limitations in mind, she knew the repercussions that followed using her Quirk would make it difficult for her to watch the demonstrations that came after hers. She wasn't looking forward to the unavoidable effect of her Quirk either. It was in part why she hadn't used it more, even as proud as she was of it.

In spite of her reasonings for holding off on her Quirk demonstration, Nyoko wanted to show her Quirk before her classmates before she lost the resolve to do so. She took the stage after Hattori’s demonstration had ended. Once she stood in the center of the arena, she felt more nervous than she had expected. She shook away her nerves, summoning false bravado.
“My name is Genki Nyoko. My Quirk doesn’t have a name. It has two uses. I can touch people to take energy from them or give it to them. It’s a bit hard to show you that part of my Quirk.”

“I can also use my energy to be faster by doing something like punching.”

Nyoko stepped towards a pillar. That is the one that was furthest from the other students that Ebisugawa hadn’t previously knocked down. She drew her arm back as she braced herself to punch the cement. She imparted some of her energy at the moment that her fist moved to strike the pillar. A yellow ring formed around her iris for a moment as she utilized her Quirk. Her knuckles clipped the side and created a hairline fracture. She shook out her hand as though shaking away the pain of the punch.

“Or I can use my ability to run.”

Nyoko took to the edge of the arena and assumed the stance of a triathlete before she began to sprint towards the other side. However, she was forced to push her front foot down against the ground as though to brace herself after only moving a few feet and skidded towards the other edge of the arena. Her shoe made a sound of protest much like a car coming to an emergency stop. Through the use of her ability the second time the ring around her iris took on a red color instead, indicating that her energy levels were on the lower end.

Nyoko already knew this was likely to be the case after expending so much energy with punching the pillar. It was why she was only able to run a few feet. Although it may have looked more purposeful as she skidded to a halt and managed to come to a stop at the other edge of the concrete square. It was a mere coincidence.

She moved her hand to her stomach, feeling the hunger pangs begin to make themselves known after expending so much of her energy. In that moment, Nyoko wasn’t particularly interested in how others perceived her presentation. There were only two things she cared about. Food, and a nice nap.

Location: Quirk Demonstration site | Mentions: Everyone within 5 feet

Standing amidst the crowd of other students, smiling but with anxiety threatening to pop his heart in his chest, Daizo was trying to calm his frayed nerves by singing a song in his head and watch the demonstrations. The plan was not a huge success as his foot began to tap with increasing speed to match his mounting anxiety, knowing he would have to go up there and stand around like a clown while the other kids saw the absolute nothingness he brought to the table here. Lots of them had interesting powers, quirks as they were called, but his lacked any kind of flare or interesting traits.

Think. Think think think! How do you demonstrate something that doesn't exist physically? Think! STUBBS, HELP ME!

Glancing down at the Cactus he had lovingly been referring to as 'Stubbs' for many years, no answer came to mind. No solution to the predicament he was in. No excuse so he could run away. There was only the here and now.. A shove from behind, what felt like one but could have been nothing, broke his concentration. The arena was clear and it was his turn! (Or so he thought)

Just say something! ANYTHING! The little voice in his mind was screaming now.

It came not with a whisper, but a shout. "A FOOL THINKS HIMSELF A WISE MAN, TO THIS THE WISE MAN KNOWS BEYOND DOUBT THEY ARE A FOOL!" At the top of his lungs, stuck in a crowd of other students, Daizos disastrous quoting of a poetic verse he had taken from his leather bound book had triggered his Quirk 'Oblivion' on every student and maybe a few of the teachers.
His own anxiety faded to nothingness against the wave of sheer buzzkill his quirk had emitted. Self doubt, shame, apathy, your mind rebelled against your own good nature and forced you to down the dark spiral of depression in an unrelenting wave of invisible force. Holding Stubbs to his chest, Daizo desperately wanted to sink into the ground and fade away into the nothingness holding his soul. Unlike others that had protection from their Quirk, like the fire quirk people, there was no saving himself from the darkness.
"Chujiro Daizo.. quirk.. depression.." Was all he managed to mumble as reality simply became too heavy. Slumping to his knees and laying face down on the pavement, Stubbs laying nearby, Daizo waited for death to take him. It seemed only fitting..

Bow to your elders, show respect. Put on your brightest smile and set your best foot forward.

Dimitri carried with him three books. A translation book from Greek to Japanese, an etiquette book on how to act, and a notebook filled with careful, yet sloppy kanji.

He clutched his books as he approached what could only be considered a picket line. His arm was wrapped around the books, his right held a suitcase of his belongings, and a backpack was slung over his shoulders carrying whatever couldn't fit in the suitcase. Getting closer to the crowd of people, Dimitri gulped and lowered his head.

"Freak!"

"Monster!"

"Villain!"

Dimitri didn't understand all of the words that the people shouted at him as he got closer, but he could understand the rage in their tone. He held the books tighter. Had it not been for the sound and feeling of them bending in his grip, he surely would have held them tight enough for them to break in his arm.

It was then where he stopped.

Why was he going through the main entrance to UA when he was told that there was a side entrance that would allow for easy access without being harassed by protesters?

"Huh..." He sighed to himself and spun himself around to walk away from the crowd and over to the other entrance. A trio waited for him. Dimitri had almost forgotten his ID! While taking in the dry scent of what seemed to have been a fire in the area, he continued along, watching other students ahead of him present their IDs to the three people waiting at the gate. Soon enough, it was his turn.

"I am here... For the hero course." He had to think out his words carefully. His voice, slow, low and distant, uttered only a few words. The suitcase was set down so he could rummage through his pockets for his ID. His name, student number, and his class were presented on it. He expected nothing less from the ID, but this was still all so strange to him. "I promise not to let you down."

It seemed he was a little later arriving than he wanted, but he was certainly not the last one to have come inside. Everyone was brushing shoulders and talking up one another, but every little detail seemed to make Dimitri more and more nervous. His tail swayed anxiously. They were speaking so well to one another. Maybe they were all friends? Or perhaps they grew up in similar areas? He couldn't be sure, but he was not going to let his fears stop him from being kind to his new peers!

Everyone was dressed in their new uniforms, even Dimitri. He wouldn't lie. Wearing something like this made him feel rather spiffy, but it was a far cry from his normal attire.

It was revealed that the trio of men waiting at the gate was actually their teachers, aiming to see that everyone safely arrived at the school. Spacenaught-Sensei led them all to an area where they would demonstrate their quirks to one another and the teachers themselves. They had been joined at the last minute by a rather bouncy woman who announced herself as the Quirk Development Specialist. Dimitri still had to acclimate himself to the term.

One student was certainly eager to show his Gifts to the class. He made... methane? Lots of it? A highly explosive gas that was easily charged and could be set fire too. Before he could blink, the air turned dry, and Dimitri was forced to look away from the inferno that was created before him. It was certainly a powerful quirk with aid, and a flashy one at that.

The second one was a girl who emitted concussive force, like she created a small sonic boom wherever she moved. Dimitri grew nervous. His quirk wasn't exactly one that he could show off like the others. He'd need something heavy to lift, or something to break. Fortunately, as the next students went to show off their quirks, it seemed like the teachers could in fact assist to help everyone show off what they could do.

Everyone's powers were incredible! They truly did have gifts from the gods. Clones, water manipulation, even possession of a body! Lava! Even if she was a little.... much.

Eventually, it was his turn to show everyone what he could do. He eyed the pillars. That would do, but he didn't want to make them mad. Perhaps there was someone who could mold stone to fix the damage Dimitri would no doubt cause for his demonstration? He certainly hoped so.

His journey to the demonstration area was a slow one. Finally turning to face everyone, he bowed politely and looked to his teachers. Maybe it was because of Daizo that he was even more sluggish than normal. He willed himself to carry one, despite everything telling him to stop.

"Hello." He said quietly. "My name is Dimitri Megalos. I named my Quirk Minotaur, after the mighty beast of legend. Would it be okay if I demonstrated on one of these pillars?"

Mori-sensei looked at the state of the arena from the demonstrations before him. It was already singed and littered with rocket bits and volcanic rock, and one pillar had been shockingly knocked down by Hyouka-kun. She stifled a laugh behind her gloved hand and mentally noted how polite he was despite the already existing damage to the structure.

"Yes of course, go ahead Dimitri-kun!"

From his position in the center of the arena, he could absolutely take a head start at it. While his combat skills were next to nothing, Dimitri knew that he could shoulder charge it and do some substantial damage to it. His focus turned to one of the pillars in the corners of the arena, one of the two furthest away from everyone.

With a start, Dimitri dashed towards it with all the energy he could muster. He was quite fast for someone of his size, but not inhumanly so. Speed was not his Quirk.

When he was about half way to the pillar, Dimitri lowered his body and readied himself. With a mighty crash, Dimitri launched his body into the pillar and bashed it with his shoulder. The sound of the impact was loud, even from the other side of the arena, but the show wasn't over yet.

The Pillar had been attacked, and it could not hold itself against Dimitri. He hit it with all his might, and continued to push against it even after he knew he had made impact. The pillar toppled over slowly, assisted by gravity to crash into the ground with a mighty quake. dust and rubble flew, but Dimitri stood his ground until it cleared.

He took a slow walk back to his teachers and bowed once more. "In addition to the horns and the tail, I am also incredibly strong. Maybe even stronger than the Minotaur itself." He couldn't help but smile at his own feat, and looked to his teachers and fellow students for approval.

Mori-sensei again was absolutely star struck with the pure strength a mutant class quirk could boast. Her eyes were wide open until she got some dusty debris blown into her face by the wind. While attempting to rub her eyes clear, she struggled to give him much commentary.
"Ah-- hold on. That was super impressive! A fitting name for a very powerful quirk! Like a charging Greek myth! Very well done, Dimitri-kun."
cough cough
Mori-sensei pulled a bottle of water out of a bag nearby the platform and flushed her eyes out, while her eyes were red and pained she was no less excited to see Dimitri in action.

While Marius was busy embracing the ground, an unexpected visitor began scratching the base of his ear causing it to twitch a bit as it startled the pup. "Huh? What are y-" His tail began to wag from left to right as it actually felt pretty good, who knew how good it felt for someone to scratch your ear for you! Too bad all good things come to an end as he felt a very sharp pain in his ear unexpectedly. The boy jumped back and let out a few whimpers as he held his both ears and stared at the culprit with misty eyes full of distrust. Marius began to backpedal away from the humanoid cactus with extreme caution.

Soon enough the school day had began to start and with that the teachers introduced themselves one by one, the man in the spacesuit was called Captain Spacenaut, he seemed pretty nice and the emotes that his visor could make were rather soothing and comforting. After Spacenaut-sensei introduced himself, the rest of the teachers followed suit but they all didn't give off the same appeal as spacenaut did, they all meant strictly business. Hopefully I wont upset anyone the boys tail went limp as his anxiety began to kick in, knowing that his quirk will be under close observation and evaluation by his peers always made him anxious. The reason being that whenever his quirk was a catalyst in a situation it never went well. As they arrived at the large concrete arena Mori-sensei joined the fray rather late and introduced herself as the quirk development specialist, the person in charge of guiding class 1-A with developing their quirks. She was rather joyful and excited which made Marius even more anxious, Once she sees my quirk i doubt she'll want anything to do with me. his ears began to droop to the side as introductions began.

The first person to take the stage was Ryuujin Katsuro, who seemed to be somewhat of a pyromaniac. His fire gave Marius chills and reminded him of probably some of the darkest times of his life, as the fire rose to 20 stories the boy resorted to covering his eyes as he quaked in fear. I don't want anything to do with that guy.

Marius opened his eyes when it was time for the next person to take the stage, Zhao Emiko was here name and she has to be related to Zhao-sensei. Her quirk had caught him by surprised as she threw a punch in the air making the boy leap a few feet back, not only that but she was shouting as she did so which was totally unexpected. She's also pretty scary, I'll avoid her as well

After her was Himaru Mitsuo, another pyromaniac which received another big nope from Marius as he pretty much could make homing missiles. Once again the boy covered his eyes as he saw the boy blow up the rocket produced by spacenaut. I'll add him to that list too.

Seto Yuuki was up next and she the first person to not intimidate Marius today, her quirk was actually really cool. As he watched her slip and slide around the stage the boys eyes widened as he became captivated. Once she finished he clapped rather happily. Woooww

After her was Suihara Mizura who was also a water quirk user, she seemed a bit strange but her quirk was amazing as she and her water clone put on a choreography for the class. Marius also clapped after her demonstration as he was impressed by not only her quirk but her skills. That was also really cool.

Itsuki Konomi was up next and she seemed like the nicest out the bunch, her quirk allowed her to split in two which seemed extremely handy as they were full functional, the catch was that she also split her mass while she used her quirk meaning that the clones were also half her original size. Must be nice to never be alone

Himura Haruki stepped up next, he was extremely energetic. Even more so than Mori-Sensei, his quirk was probably the strangest as he was able to phase in and out of Mori-sensei as he pleased. Marius clapped again for his quirk as it was definitely the most unique quirk he had seen so far.

Once Haruki was done, the most terrifying demonstration was up next as not only was her quirk explosive but her personality, her name was Hanzawa Lacara and she was able to emit lava, yes L-a-v-a. Though it is tied to her emotions, this was someone Marius didn't want to take a chance on. He was definitely going to avoid her. During her demonstration she began to get worked up, Hanazawa-san even began to speak in English which Marius picked up on as he was also knew how to speak in English. The tone she was using the amount of weight her words carried along with the lava spurting violently from her body was enough to intimidate the boy. Marius covered his eyes once more.

Some guy named with the surname Yasuhide took up the stage next as he wasn't very willing to reveal his first name, his quirk was rather graphic as he was able to manipulate the blood in his body to create spikes and the like. His attitude was rather scary as he seemed like he could care less about anything, he even cursed in front of the teachers and flipped off Mori-sensei. Yet another person Marius would have to avoid, that made him No.5.

After him, Akizawa Nadeshiko tooked the stage and was the first mutant to do so which may not have been something many others took much interest in but to Marius it was pretty awesome. Her quirk was pretty self explanatory as her body was composed of slime, not only that but she could also change the shape of her body to fit her needs. It seemed like something that could be really useful, once her demonstration was over he clapped happily for her as well. For some reason her introduction made him happy, despite not being a mutant like her, the fact that she had the courage to go up there was inspiring.

It seemed like he wasn't the only one inspired as another mutant girl went up and she was a shrimp! Physically a shrimp! Not just in height, she had a pincer and everything. The pups eyes grew wide as he saw her take the stage, her pincers were super strong as well as her shell. It was quite amazing actually to see her crunch the pillar in between her claw. The whole demonstration put a smile on his face as he saw her...a mutant having genuine fun being themselves. When her demonstration was over he clapped.

A girl named Hattori Himōri went next and she was able to transform her body into silk that she had complete control over. Not only was she able to produce a abundant amount of silk it was actually super strong as she used to bind Mori-Sensei. Hattori also seemed to be pretty genuine as she apologized to Mori-sensei for making her fall over during the demonstration leaving a smile on the boys face.

Genki Nyoko assumed the stage after Hattori and her quirk caught the boys interest, The ability to sap energy and transfer it to others, maybe she can keep my werewolf form contained incase I ever get out of control and a teacher isn't around. Her quirk was actually pretty strong, it surely could catch someone off guard if they weren't careful.

After him was the boy he saw from earlier, his shaggy hair and pale skin was something of note. Marius stood their quietly looking at him as he awaited for the boy to emit his quirk but it was easy to see he had nerves as well. The pup noticed the cactus he was holding in his head and was a little confused as to why he had a plant up their with him, as he pondered the thought the boy tilted his , his large flopping to the side following his head.

Soon the silence was broken startling him as he shouted a phrase that he had never heard of, but once he was down a wave of sadness swept over Marius crippling him. Immediately the boy grabbed his head and fell to his knees as tears flooded down his cheeks with no end in sight. All the anxiety and fears he had been feeling rushed to the front of his head and he suddenly was overwhelmed, nothing else mattered and he didn't even get the chance to pick up the boys name. He truly did feel he was going to die in this moment.

It wasn't until the next person to assume the stage came up that Marius felt the effects begin to wear-off, his name was Dimitri Megalos and he was a mutant as well. His quirk was called Minotaur and he named it after a mighty beast of legend just like Marius, a smile spawned on the pups face as out of all the mutants he easily had the most charisma. The guy was incredibly strong, Marius surely didn't want to be caught on the other side of those horns. Surely once his demonstrations was over he clapped for him!

Marius clapped his hands against his cheeks to psyche himself up enough to go next, You can do this, just like Nadeshiko, Ebisugawa, and Megalos did, it isn't that hard. The boy began to move and assumed his place at the center of the stage. As he all the eyes on him his heart began to beat incredibly fast as his anxiety kicked in, All these eyes on me, their staring right through me...Judging me. His eyes darted from Nadeshiko to the cactus girl, his heart beat slowed a bit. they're all just like me, they've been through similar experiences like I have. It won't be that bad." While Marius was in his head about 11 seconds has gone by with him staring aimlessly into the class and the class staring right back at him, the pup then took a deep breath and began to speak. "H-He-Hello e-everyone, m-m-m-my name is Anderson M-M-Marius. M-My quirk is...is..." He had almost forgot about his quirk, he forgot that he was going to show everyone how much of a monster he was. How he couldn't control his quirk not one bit, and if he was to somehow get lose...

"My quirk...my quirk is called lycanthropy, I-I have ears and a t-tail like a canine." he was quaking violently in front of everyone. "I can also t-t-transform into a werewolf where I receive a boost to my sensory skills on par with that of a wolf as w-well as super strength" the boy gulped and took off his outer jacket and shoes, tossing them to side before continuing. "Everyone, please take a few steps back.

The boy then fell on all fours and began to grunt as his eyes turned from a caramel brown to a golden yellow color, initiating the transformation. His skin began to darken hastily, and hair began to grow everywhere rapidly except for his face, palms, and feet. The boys nose transformed into a snout and his ears began to sharpen along with his teeth into that much more like a canine. Along with this his body began to accrue a large amount of mass causing Marius's body to grow exponentially till he towered everyone currently present.

Once the transformation was done the wolf stared menacingly at everyone present before standing on his hind legs where the size of his body could really be gauged as he was easily 8ft while on two feet. Marius then let out an earsplitting howl as he got acclimated to his transformation.

"AWHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

His eyes darted back and forth among the class and faculty as he was seeking the alpha among the group. First bouncing onto Katsuro before snorting, quickly denouncing him as who he was looking for. His eyes then fell upon Seo as he was attracted to the sent of blood, the Lycan flashed his teeth and licked his lips before catching glimpse of the one he was looking for, McCoy.

Not the smartest of folks, the big man didn't notice the way the transformed wolf boy was staring at the other students until those eyes were staring at him. McCoy was quick to bare his chest in defiance to the roaming eyes of the predatory student and took a menacing step forward.

"Yus got da looks like ya wunts ta foight! Dat right, pooch?"

Marius barked at the man as he paced around the arena before walking to the other side creating space for the man to enter the ring. The boy bared his fangs and growled violently as he waited for McCoy who leapt up to the arena with a short hop, taking up his position on the side with a fierce grin of his own.

"C'mon den, pup. Ya gutsta show us wut yas ken do!" He sneered, the thick accent making it difficult to understand him.

As McCoy stepped into the ring the pup barked ferociously at the man before charging at him wasting no time. The wolf took a few steps in order to gain momentum before going airborne, closing the distance between himself and McCoy effortlessly. The boy cocked his right arm before bringing it across McCoy’s chest, claws and all as he tried to ravage his core with his opening strike which McCoy took full on without so much as a flinch. If anything the big oaf stuck his chest out and let the attack score directly across his chest, the claws raking deep furrows across his suit.

His chest didn't have a mark.

McCoy just laughed, head arched back to bellow his joy. "Haaha! Das da spirit. C'mon ya mutt dats all yu got?!" Taunting the wolf boy with another great heaving laugh.

Marius eyes widened, surprised that the only thing that he felt his claws dig into was his suit. Even as he looked at the area he attacked there wasn’t even a scratch. “GRRRRR”, the wolf then bared its fangs as he decided to go for a chomp right at the jugular. As much as he likes to play with his food, this wasn’t much fun at all.

Teeth wrapped around his burly neck, the laugh was cut off but the sharp fangs refused to find purchase and dig in. Balling a fist, McCoy was about to strike back out of habit but remember this was a student.

Clamping both hands on the lycanthrope's muzzle, fingers brushing the sharp fangs without injury, he began pulling the jaws away from his neck and detached himself from the otherwise deadly teeth.

"Das a funny quirk yus got. Dis all ya can do?" McCoy looked almost bored now.

The pup reached out and grabbed the man's wrist as he tried to pry himself free but it was to no avail, his arms barely budged and on top of that he had a vice grip on his muzzle. The wolf slide his hands up on McCoys arm as he attempted to dig his claws into the man's arms as an attempt to free himself of his grapple.

"Dats it. Fight wiff all ya got!" McCoy lurched forward, shoving the werewolf off and across the arena grounds. Free of the clawing hands, he took a firm hold of his shirt and promptly ripped it off. Bare Chested, McCoy flexed his arms and took a running start at Marius with a grin across his mustached face.

He was much much stronger than what was anticipated as he even managed to throw the lycan to the other side of the arena grounds. Before hitting the ground Marius managed to slow his fall by digging his claws into the arena, creating sizable claw marks on the tile like flooring. After regaining his balance Marius barked once more, McCoy was the real deal no doubt. It irked the canine that he was simply toying with him.

The mustached man was now sprinting at him, signaling the start of the real battle. Without wasting a second, Marius kicked off the floor with his hind legs and took flight once again to collide with the massive teacher serving as the practice dummy, McCoys thick arms grappled and pushed in an effort not to hurt the boy but still establish strength and eventually settled into a submission hold across the wolf's throat to restrict movement. It had taken a fair deal longer than anticipated to pin the spirited beast and even now they fought with ferocity and vigor to match the teachers own.

"Das enuff, ya fink?" McCoys words were strained, focused primarily on maintaining the hold.

The canine banged and scrambled wildly as McCoy had him pinned on the floor, clawing and attempting to nip at the mans face and arms but finding no success. Slowly but surely Marius began to run out of steam, releasing a bitter growl before submitting defeat. With his fighting spirit gone, the yellow in his eyes began to revert back to its original caramel brown color and the rest of his natural physical appearance following shortly. As the boy’s transformation wore off he could feel the strain on his neck loosen until eventually breaking once Marius was completely back to normal.

Marius clenched his head as he checked himself, first looking down and noticing that his clothes were still on his body. “Wow they actually do work” he said before noticing McCoys shadow being casted upon him. The boy looked up and felt his intimidating glare, not only was he staring at him but he was bare chested as well, and he was the reason for it. “S-Sorry about your shirt McCoy-Sensei” he said sheepishly as he quickly stood up and bowed apologetically before reaching for his shoes.

"Ahh das ok. I's gunna rip it offs soonur or latuh. Good foightin wiff ya boy. Opefully we's gunna do dis fer reals latur." The demonstration done, McCoy gave Marius a pat on the back and exited the demo area with him. A few minutes later, McCoy had a beige colored t-shirt covering his chest while he waited on the sidelines.

The pup nodded, embarrassed by the fact he didn't have much control. He didn't even get a chance to show off his sensory skills, the boys ears flopped once again.

S**t. The green haired individual cursed inwardly. The reason for all the fanfare during travel was to distract from their Quirky nature, and honestly, the Quirk in question was rather hard to explain, and situational at best. So, when the eclectically dressed woman with pink hair appeared with a kennel on wheels, the individual was surprised, and honestly confused.
A pale hand was slid into the kennel’s barred door, as the green haired Quirk bearer looked out over the arena, and grabbed the animal inside. There was the sound of a struggle.
Oh, come on, stay still you,” the lilting voice fussed.
Despite what appeared to be kicking on the animal’s part, the crouching figure held firm, though looked on to the pseudo-arena for Quirk demonstrations. And what was seen at first was not liked. Eyes were rolled at the use of ‘ore-sama’. The torrent of flame caused a momentary look of worry, but the orange-yellow eyes were steeled soon after, expression hardening.
Next, the girl of Chinese descent, Zhao Emiko. Obviously, this silver-haired girl was related in some way to the Chinese militant Zhao-sensei. Not that that was important. What she performed, however, was rather interesting. Her Quirk allowed her to, quite literally, throw her punches and kicks a distance from her body. The screaming in high pitch, however, seemed rather needless.
Then, there was this kid who, despite being in school-uniform, seemed to be dressed like a hobo. He could shoot a glowy ball out of his hand, called it some trashy English phrase. Disinterest spread across the green-hair’s face, as the pale arm was removed from the kennel, which was temporarily used as a seat despite the rattling from within. From this position, the student looked on as two water based Quirks were exhibited in a row. Both were interesting, and rather impressive in their own right, Emision type Quirks, most likely. Although, the stupid dance that that Suihara girl did was sort of a detractor, giving the friction-reducing Seto an edge in the observer’s mind.
Then there was the girl who could become… two smaller girls. How bizarre. Furthermore, this Itsuki was somehow able to transmit information between the brains of each of the smaller girls. Quirks were weird, but this felt like cheating to the disinterested looking observer. After that, some vampire looking kid with the ability to vanish around another as their locus appeared. That was neat, the black scleraed student supposed. Though this Himura boy also seemed to have black sclera. How odd.
The next girl, who seemed to be dressed in ganguro-fashion, introduced herself as Hanazawa Lacara. Her name was odd, but there was little time to be distracted by that. This girl exploded. After speaking for a time, then rambling in a language that could only be assumed to be English, the blond girl began emitting tremendous, horrific torrents of molten stone. The sound alone almost bowled the seated student over, a look of sheer terror locked on the pale face. What was left to the outside was a stark-still sixteen year old, seeming to be accepting a flaming demise, as if it were fitting somehow. It was almost hard to tell, especially in the stressful situation, how mortified this individual was. The spectacular, technological save by Captain Spacenaut, as well as the student’s own screams, were wholly ignored in abject horror.
The screams stopped during the impromptu intermission that was created by the smoldering, lethal debris being completely removed from the premises, but true attention wasn’t regained until a loud, obnoxious voice was shouting about having a shell, being able to swim, and being strong. The green haired student scoffed, thinking, ‘I can do that stuff too’ in a most sour way.
The next demonstration was from a chubby looking girl, who was able to transform herself into motile silk, either in the form of strands or fabric sheets. This seemed to hold the orange-eyed student’s attention rather well. The Quirk to be shown after that was arguably more interesting. This Genki Nyoko character seemed able to transmit energy in various forms, showing impressive strength, and boosted speed. This would be a useful person with which to have positive relations, at least in rough situations.
“Wow! Nyoko-kun, I’m almost jealous! So you not only have the capability of this kind of strength, but can grant it to others as well? That’s soooo cool! You’ll have to try it on me sometime!” Mori-sensei commented after, almost sounding like a kid.
Next, there was a pale boy with black hair- probably the most normal looking one out of the lot of them. So normal, in fact, that he had almost melded into the background. That was, however, until he blurted some type of poetic verse of nonsensical proportions. The Quirky student’s jaw clenched, a hand clutching against the necklace of bone. Eyes glazing over, and face becoming clammy, the hand suddenly ripped the tooth-like bone from the necklace, jamming it into the selfsame student’s own left arm. A scream of pain rang out, but was reigned in swiftly, as blood began to pool on the pale forearm and drip on the ground.
Eventually, having not been moving much, and resorting to crouching in front of the animal carrier, which earned some indignant jabs at the student, causing a swift turn and glare in reply.
Hey.
The next student, obviously foreign, based on his hair color and face shape, caught the reluctant animal’s ward’s attention as well. His Quirk was obvious, sporting a familiar looking set of horns and tail. It was much like a bull, and he demonstrated rather bullish strength.
I can do that too,” the observer grumbled, sounding rather bitter.
And the Quirk after that- that was a disaster. While boasting increased strength (yet again) due to a transformation, and even enhanced senses, which resulted in folded arms, this foreigner named Anderson Marius showed no ability to control his Quirk, enough to actually attack one of the teachers unprovoked. The good news was that the teacher seemed to have an invulnerability related Quirk, and what unfolded was a rather sad display.
S--t. At least I can control myself when using my Quirk,” the individual grumbled bitterly.

And so, with all the other students’ demonstrations done, and a good hour at least spent sitting by the kennel, the individual who had been crouching much like a hoodlum stood, stretching for a moment, with a pop coming from the left elbow. With hands in pockets and measured steps, the stage was stepped upon.
Turning to face the crowd, the individual spoke, “Kemonohito Yaseishi,” was mumbled out, with a tone of begrudging relent, “My Quirk’s hard to talk about, so… I’ll just show you,” the student informed, using the archaic, and genderless, ‘Warewa’ as a personal pronoun.
Yes, dressed in a loose fitting version of the male uniform, it was hard to tell if this student was actually male or female. The facial structure and posture could be seen as either-or, and no amount of specific bodily curvature or musculature was obvious to indicate either way.
Regardless, Yaseishi’s head tossed, revealing short, pointed brown horns, lips twisting into a grin, showing off pointed, sharp looking teeth. The amber irises flashed or a moment, taking on a slightly more green hue as the horns began to alter, shifting and branching upwards. The teen’s body trembled, stance widening. A tail seemed to snake from behind the wide belt, thin and whip-like, and the necklace of bone swayed as if caught in an updraft. Yaseishi’s jaw clenched tightly, as the horns that had been masked by thick hair branched into a rack of three point antlers. Slowly, with a strained look, the transformation was completed, the tail sporting a white puff at the end as it swayed, and the student’s back straightened.
See, I can do stuff like this. It’s… versatile, but it has… a lengthy start-phase, let’s say. And-” the youth began.
With a great step, the demonstrator began running. With unexpected, almost supernatural speed, Yaseishi dashed to the kennel, placing a hand on it with a loud thump. While it was very possible to keep track of this movement visually, it was likely surprising to those viewing it. Yaseishi gave a wide grin showing off long, tusk like fangs that weren’t there before.
-this one makes me fast. Observe,” the Mutant bade.
With a rush of wind, and clearly faster than any of the most athletic students in the class, Yaseishi ran full-tilt away from the stage, crossing it with grace and heading out, before stopping, and turning back, returning to center-stage with equal speed. The fresh wound was now pooling blood on the student’s arm once again, but seemed unnoticed.
I call it… my Stag Form. And I honestly wasn’t sure how it was going to work until now. So… I guess thanks are in order, Mori-sensei,” the student explained without actually thanking the teacher.
And, with that, the green hue died from Yaseishi’s eyes. The student’s mouth closed, shuddering slightly as the horns slunk back to small nubs from antlers, and the tail squirmed back into obscurity behind the belt. Eyes closed tight, the green-haired individual seemed to shake off some odd feeling, before rejoining the group, hair tossed to yet again hide the demon-like horns.
Mori-sensei looked just as star struck with Yaseishi’s Quirk as she was with everybody else, perhaps even more so considering she went through a lot of trouble to be able to witness it and let them participate with the rest of the class. The speed boost granted by the stag transformation put her on par, perhaps even faster than the fastest non-Quirky run speed records and she had a blast watching her zoom about the arena. Yaseishi not showing much gratitude didn’t seem to bother her at all, she might not have even noticed.
“You don’t have to thank me, Yaseishi-kun. I’m just so glad I could make it work for you! Your Quirk looked very interesting to me on paper and I was excited to see it in action! Thank you!”

Spacenaut, on the other hand, was even more expressionless than usual. The static simplified expression usually displayed on his visor had vanished and he seemed to be mumbling to himself incoherently under the visor.
He had noticed her bleeding, and from Spacenaut’s view his visor had locked on, zoomed in, and began to visually analyze the wound from afar. A warped woman’s voice only audible to him was speaking.
Wrist laceration wound. Superficially deep. Not life threatening. Negligible risk of infection. Angle of entry implies an intentionally self-inflicted wound. Injury occurred recently, within the last several minutes.

“To think that I allowed this to happen--”
Spacenaut would not bring it up then as to not bring any negative attention from the rest of the class, but he would act later. For now, he simply brought back a smile.

:)

“Yes, that was valuable indeed,” Mitsuhide-sensei remarked, glancing between Mori-sensei and Spacenaut, “Would you not agree?”
“Valuable? Amazing! They’re all so incredible!”

Spacenaut nodded. “They have much to learn, but we have the finest clay to mold. I share in your enthusiasm.”
(•̀o•́)ง
“Quirks are quite amazing, aren’t they?” Mitsuhide added airily.

With the last student having wrapped up her presentation, Mori-sensei looked as if she was about to take the stage herself and give a demonstration of her own. She turned to face the class and cleared her throat, as if to stall for time.
“So--, uhm.” but a new man had arrived on the scene just on cue.
Mori-sensei sighed in relief, she wasn’t that great at wrapping up and her voice was already tired from talking so much with the students. She looked quite embarrassed for a second, perhaps for taking the stage and not saying a word to the class, but the way she looked at the man approaching may have suggested otherwise.
“Oh, just on time!” Mori-sensei coughed and quickly ducked off of the stage as the man took her place. She bowed her head respectfully at his arrival.
And with the students having been gathered again into a group-at-attention by the teachers, someone new entered the scene. A man with, of all things, red hair approached the stage, and stepped up onto the stone slab, all the while, quietly clapping.
He wore a black buttoned shirt, and over it, a black tailored suit coat. It was thin and open, and seemed at least a size or two too long, or it would have, if the sleeves didn’t stop in his middle forearms. Completing this state of dress were airy looking black slacks. The man was handsome, and, despite his slicked back bright red hair, and equally red eyes, this man was obviously Japanese. The other teachers, Zhao-sensei especially, seemed to stand at attention as this man approached.
First and foremost, I’d like to congratulate all of you on your bravery. I know stepping out in public and proclaiming yourself to have a Quirk can be very difficult, and for this, you should be commended.
Now that all the formalities are out of the way, and your spectacular Quirks have been evaluated by our expert staff,” the man continued, pausing to gesture with his gaze towards Mori Noriko and Mitsuhide Oyoshi specifically, and the teaching staff in general, “Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Todoroki Ishin. I am the Principal here at UA, as well as the year-one mathematics teacher. It is truly an honor to be involved with such a unique school in a program with goals as lofty as this. Now,” the papers he had been holding were lowered, as if no longer needed, “I realize I’ve asked a lot of you, to exhibit your Quirks in the open like this. I truly wish that Quirks could be celebrated by all. But, in the meantime; as I’m not one who would take without giving, I shall show you something in return.
The air around the Principal began to slowly vibrate, as those standing closest to the stage could feel the air around it beginning to heat up. However, taking one step back revealed a distinct end to the heat, as if it were being adjusted in a radius with Ishin Todoroki at its origin. The temperature quickly rose ten, twenty, thirty degrees. Higher and higher it climbed. The clothing on Todoroki-sensei’s body began to billow in an unseen current, as the air around him distorted, causing a shimmer in the air. To those simply looking, it would appear as though his legs were stretching down into a dark circle around him on the stone below. This, however, was merely an optical illusion. What wasn’t however, was that the hairspray he had used to tame his russet locks was rapidly deteriorating, and gave up with a soft sizzle.
Hotter and hotter the area became, motes of ash and dust left from the previous demonstrations began to rise, and drift into an ever-rising spiral column in the air. Despite the extreme temperatures, Ishin seemed mostly unphased, even as the papers he held burst into flame, and sent motes of cinder drifting about the area, some of which still lit as they lazed towards the crowd, easily avoided.

I know what it means to be Quirky, and proud! For this,” he loudly declared, “is my Quirk! Heat Shimmer! It affords me quite the edge in combat,” he stated, his voice quieting as his Quirk deactivated, leaving only smokey motes drifting in the natural spring breeze, “And by combat, I mean I operated as a vigilante under the code ‘Heat Flash’. So, with that out of the way; Captain Spacenaut-Sensei, would you please distribute the students’ dorm assignments? After which, we will supply you with a tour of the campus, and allow you to acclimate to your new situations for the rest of the day. Thank you, sincerely, for your time.
And with that, the man who was once Heat Flash folded his arms behind himself, and held silent. It was only in the absence of sound that one would realize how noisy Heat Shimmer was when active.
Those who had put an ear to vigilante business may have heard of the man called Heat Flash, who arrived on the scene when it seemed that public services were about to be permanently disrupted by Quirks, and worked hand-in-hand with police to subdue and apprehend Quirk-bearing criminals. He was never as flashy, violent, high-profile, or, as the cynic would say, ‘effective’ as someone like Spacenaut, but he was proud of the work he did.

“Of course, sir. If everybody would please line up single file in front of me, I will now pass out your dorm keys. On the key ring you will find emergency evacuation plans, please study them well and follow all safety precautions.”

The dorm numbers were as follows.
1. Ryuujin Katsuro and Himura Haruki
2. Anderson Marius, Yasuhide Seo, and Megalos Dimitri
3. Himaru Mitsuo and Chujiro Daizo
4. Suihara Mizura and Itsuki Konomi
5. Hanazawa Lacara and Ebisugawa Hyouka
6. Kemonohito Yaseishi, Seto Yuuki, and Hattori Himōri
7. Akizawa Nadeshiko and Hanakotoba Sayuri
8. Zhao Emiko and Genki Nyoko

While it wasn’t immediately clear to everybody who got what room number, by comparing keys they could easily find out. Or, they could simply wait until they reached their dorms.

“Safety precautions? You trying to take my job, Spacenaut?” said the reedy but authoritative voice of old school vigilante hero, Death Glare. His Quirk was active as he made his way towards the group of students with his hands on his hips, but as none of them were in a heightened negative emotional state at the moment all they would feel was a mild chill, and if they were to look at Death Glare, they’d notice his eyes slightly glowing, not that obvious in the light.

He adjusted his glasses with both hands, and the glare from them hid his eyes as his Quirk deactivated, causing the chill to leave the bodies of the students.

“Hello, everyone, I’m Death Glare. Well… if I’m going to be aiding in your teaching, I guess I should go by my actual name. Call me Shigeki-sensei, alright? I’m UA’s security head, and I’m also available as a private tutor if you need some extra help. For now, I guess I’ll just go over some safety rules. There will be a nine PM curfew in effect indefinitely, I’m sure you’re all aware why. As a connected idea, no leaving Musutafu unless accompanied by a teacher or with permission from a parent, we’ll require this parent’s signature. If you leave the city without a parental signature we will be reporting you missing and you will be in deep shit. Dorms are accessible only to students, guests will require approval, and overnight guests are strictly forbidden. Related to overnight guests, we strongly discourage sexual activities within the dorms. We ask that you please take it to a love hotel if it cannot be avoided. This isn’t in my script, but I think it’s important to let you know that birth control is available from either the nurse or guidance counsellor. When you go off campus, do not go alone, and hide your Quirk if that’s possible. If you require immediate assistance, you will be provided with panic buttons that you can press to immediately alert the security staff of your location. Do not use these unless you are in danger, we will fine you or your parents if they are used pointlessly. Please do not use your Quirks outside designated testing or training areas. We’ll allow some leniency on this is it’s for a use such as picking up a remote control or other stupid crap. The security office is our panic room, if the school goes into lockdown, either remain in your classroom or travel to the security office as swiftly as possible. Should there be an existential threat to the school as a whole, the security office will be your rally point. Do not remain outside when instructed to immediately travel to the security office. That’s all I have for you right now. Oh right, please visit me if you lose your key, I promise I won’t get mad.”

During these speeches, Principal Todoroki looked on. For the most part, he was still, aside from a sharp glare towards Shigeki-sensei as he cleared his throat, when the security officer uttered some of the more rough language, about which they had spoken specifically. He then moved to the group, using one hand to gesture for a space in the lineup.
Now, if you would please follow me, I would like to give you a brief tour to allow you to be acclimated to the school grounds,” the principal spoke up.
Ishin then lead the students to a secondary building which, at first glance, appeared to be a class-room building. However, as they were lead inside, it was apparent that there had been extensive remodeling, which turned it into a rather large dorm hall. The rooms were numbered in clusters, with a large amount of space between the first and second group.
Boys’ dorms will be here, at the east end of the building, and girls’ dorms will be at the west end. The classrooms are in the adjacent building, and layouts are repeated in each building for easy memorization. Should you need any emotional support or academic review that you don’t feel is suited for teachers or members of your own class, the Second Year Heroics Course has their own dorms upstairs. Also, please be courteous with the amount of noise you make. Central courtyards are safe-zones for Quirk use, as long as nothing gets damaged. Now, any questions?

As far as Katsuro was concerned, the demonstration was an absolute disaster. So many of his classmates had already displayed far greater mastery of themselves than he had. In particular, Mitsuo and Mizura had him sweating as a spectator. Mitsuo, with an explosive Quirk that he could not only ignite on his own but control it with such accuracy from an impressive range. Mizura, who was not only skilled but confident enough to use her Quirk for a fucking dance routine. She could smother him, drown him, make him useless, all from a distance he couldn't reach. Besides that, mutant and transformation class Quirks were all so awe-inspiring. Such raw physical power, if they had the strength of spirit to they could put him out like a candle wick. Lacara was an exception, her Quirk was amazing just like his but she seemed to have even less control over how it worked. In that sense, he thought they could get along.

He had never imagined he would have to play catch-up with his classmates on day 1. Katsuro had a lot of work to do if he was to earn that number one spot. If only he hadn't hidden his Quirk for so long, he would already have that degree of control, he would already be ahead of the pack. It was already over now, he had all year to worry about that. As the demonstrations were wrapped up, a man Katsuro recognized took the stage to address them, announcing himself as their principal. He couldn't quite place him until his Quirk was activated.

"No fucking way... that's Heat Flash! He's our principal?!" Katsuro questioned with both shock and excitement. While some might have found it odd that he knew about Heat Flash, but none of the other Vigilantes, Katsuro had kept a close eye on news following him specifically because his Quirk was so similar to his own. If there was an example for Katsuro to strive for, Todoroki-sensei was it.

Quirky and proud. This guy knew what he was talking about.

More eager than ever before to start his life at UA, Katsuro was first to push his way to Spacenaut-sensei to receive his dorm key. Dorm room number 1. Katsuro smirked at his placement, even if it was just a room number, it was his number. The number he wore on his jerseys in middle school, the number on his student ID, now the number of his dorm room. Becoming number one was his destiny.
But, as more people came to claim their keys, Katsuro spotted that some people had been given keys to the same room. Instantly his grin twisted upside down when he came to realize that he would have to share his space with another student, but who was it?

Before Katsuro could get the chance to scope out who got which room number, they were all being instructed on campus rules safety. It was a speech he largely tuned out until he heard this teacher bringing up sex in the dorms. Hah! This guy had a wild sense of humor. As if any of these losers would get laid. It was unprofessional, he supposed, but Katsuro appreciated that in an authority figure. There was need to be so stiff, and a school like UA would be progressive enough to include the offer of birth control, uncomfortable as the mention was. It was immature of him, even Katsuro would agree with that, but he couldn't help but laugh.

Todoroki-sensei reclaimed their attention, dispelling any awkward vibes that may have come up during that little fiasco. Finally, their living quarters. Katsuro was eager to see them after that less-than-cozy night at the cheap motel he stayed at, and all of his stuff was waiting there for him. Unpacking and decorating a new room wasn't something he got to do very often, and he would have to meet whoever he had the misfortune of rooming with eventually. As soon as Todoroki-sensei said all he wanted to say, Katsuro walked off to find door number 1 and test his key in the lock.

As the door swung open, he found a surprisingly spacious room with two beds with nothing but white sheets and pillow cases, two desk/dresser combos, a single but large window looking out to the courtyard with white curtains. There was another door leading to a small bathroom. The walls were plain and painted a beige color. Boring. Katsuro got to work. His things were left beside one of the beds for him, a large suitcase packed to the brim with his belongings.

His side of the room was quickly decorated with band posters, a black comforter laid across his otherwise neatly made bed haphazardly. His desk became stacked with lighters. Dozens of lighters and matches kept in ziploc bags laid across in a chaotic manner. A stack of notebooks and stationary was placed in the center. Katsuro's next step was to pry open the window and let the cool spring air in, and his explosive gasses out. Framed documents of his achievements from academics to sports were also placed along the walls, pictures of him and his old teams, him holding trophies. Katsuro really was full of himself. There were a few photo frames that he had packed but decided against hanging on the wall, instead he tossed them into his top drawer before loading clothes on top.

It still didn't seem enough like home. He'd have to ask for more things to be posted to him later on. But for now, all he had to do today was wait and see which of those boys he would be forced to room with for the next year.

Location: Quirk Demonstration site --> Campus Dormitory

No impact at all.. Daizos self worth plummeted another few inches at the realization that barely anybody had even reacted to his quirk. That said, he had been face down in the pavement when it activated and hadn't bothered to actually see if anyone had responded to it.
Nobody stepped on him though so that was as clear a sign as any he could hope for. If they could resist his awful quirk then all the better.

Not bothering to lift himself from the ground, his limbs felt like they weighed several tons, Daizo just laid where he was and listened to the announcements without enthusiasm or interest. Trapped in his own quirks incredible negativity he just wanted to fade away to nothingness, to find true oblivion and be free of the guilt bombarding his psyche.

Finally dragging himself up, the tour starting, Daizo held stubbs in both hands close to his chest and shuffled along with the group through the area before retiring to his dorm room with whatever haste he could, talking to nobody as the quiet march ended in a brightly lit room.
There on the floor was everything his mother had sent.
Having taken precious little, his parents had been quick to send off something extra besides clothes. Blackout curtains!

Daizo put stunns down on the right side desk and got to work. Standing on the chair, he plucked the lightbulb from the ceiling and promptly tossed it out the window, then set to work screwing in a hook on either side of the window before laying the thick curtain across the entire length to turn the entire room into a pitch black abyss. Not a shred of light got through the heavy black sheets, in time there would be another such curtain walling off his side of the room for now but until then it would have to be open space.
Sliding open the curtain just long enough to plug in the lamp he had brought, one for his desk and another stronger one for his roommate, the curtain was pulled back and the lamps turned on.

Not particularly powerful, they illuminated the desks with a sombre stream of concentrated light but left the rest of the room in near pitch black, throwing shadows high into the ceiling that had seemes to vanish.
It was just like home!

Putting stubbs, his beautiful and only friend, behind the thick curtains and im the sunlight, Daizo proceeded to kick off his shoes below the bed and lay facedown in the pillow surrounded by comforting nothingness.
