In her Lightning Bug persona, she has put together a coherent costume, which many vigilantes have been unable to do. She is commonly seen wearing a set of homemade goggles, as well as heavy combat boots.

For this reason, and her highly unpredictable nature, Jessica Beadle has been classified as a Red level threat.
Abilities |--
Electrokinesis: Lightning Bug's body constantly creates a high-powered static field. She is able to manipulate this power to manifest purple bolts of electrical energy from her hands, firing them at a range of about 15 feet or using them up close and personal. She is able to control the level of shock, from as small enough to simply charge a device such as an iPod up to being able to short out someone's heart. She is also able to manipulate electricity in the environment around her, though to a lesser degree of control.
--
Short Range Teleportation: Lightning Bug has manifested an ability to instantly transport herself and any inanimate object she can hold to any spot within her line of sight. She disappears in a bright spark of purple energy and reappears in a similar manner at her chosen destination. Currently she is able to teleport about a dozen times before needing to pause and rest for a few hours.
--
Technopathy: Lightning Bug is able to project her will onto computer systems and technology, making it simple for her to access things she shouldn't or bypass security systems.

Attire |--
Telescopic Goggles: The green goggles Lightning Bug wears have a built in telescoping system, allowing for her to more clearly see distant points she might be able to teleport to. These further jumps wear her out more quickly, but have provided a way out of a few tight situations. These goggles also have built in night vision and infrared sights, as well as the ability to tag and track targets.
--
Hoverboard: Utilizing proprietary technology, Jessie has built a working hoverboard that allows her to fly. It can carry her at upwards of 100 mph on the ground, with the upper limits of free-air flight as yet untested. The hoverboard contains a series of electromagnets that are tied to her boots, allowing for her to lock herself into place, as well as an emergency freefall failsafe, allowing the board to carry her safely to the ground in vase of dire emergencies.
Armament/Equipment |--
Drones: Jessie has created a small army of drones and robots, each programmed with a rudimentary AI and its own personality. They are detailed below.
-Leigh: A medium-sized purple drone with a single large eye-like sensor. She heads the delivery system for Jessie, and is responsible for mapping and leading the heavy labor drones. She is very businesslike and often has to reign in Phil and Rodriguez.
-Phil: A large red and orange drone with various grabbing attachments. Phil is responsible for the heavy lifting of delivery along with Rodriguez, and the two are often found bickering. Phil is certainly the 'dumbest' of the AIs, being the first programmed and put to use.
-Rodriguez: A large silver drone with various grabbing attachments. Rodriguez is responsible for the heavy lifting of delivery along with Phil, and the two are often found bickering. Rodriguez seems to have inherited Jessie's "I'm the most important" attitude, and believes himself to be her greatest invention.
-Farnsworth: A custom-built robot with thick telescopic lenses, Farnsworth is Jessie's mechanic, taking care of general maintenance and lab work. Farnsworth is often exasperated with the antics of the delivery team, but has an unbridled optimism which he exuberantly displays at any given chance.
-Hermes: Hermes is only tangentially related to the rest of the AIs, lacking a physical body himself. He runs the 'accouonting' side of Jessie's various businesses, cooking her books and coordinating money laundering and other schemes. Hermes is a no-nonsense type, a bureaucrat through and through.
-John: A multi-armed medical drone, John is responsible for all medical care and treatment in Jessie's line of work. He had very little in the way of bedside manner, and is often quite awkward.
-Amy: A modular drone with a flexible AI, Amy is responsible for any overflow work from any other drones. She is excitable and exuberant, especially when she is given a new task to perform.
-Stabby: An old Roomba with a simple AI, Stabby is the janitor. He deals with the plumbing and heating units mainly, and Jessie has taped a butterknife to him.
[Temperament & Lifestyle]
Affiliation | Wonderland Bar
Alignment |Narcissist
Personality/Habits |Lightning Bug delights in causing chaos. While she rarely wants to see any of her potential victims get hurt, she finds that causing panic and confusion is a fantastic tool to help her reach her goals. Lightning Bug is quick and efficient in her schemes, and attempts to plan ahead, often laying the groundwork for a job weeks in advance. In the moment however, she allows herself to cut loose, improving speeches, one-liners, displays of power, and the like; so long as it doesn't interfere with her plans as a whole. She has been called deranged due to the fact that she wears a big smirk during all of her jobs, but truth be told it's simply because that is when she feels in her element, and most like herself.
As Jessica Beadle, she is comfortable with her place in the world. She often spends every free moment in her workshop or computer lab, building and designing new technology. Whenever she unveils something new, or makes a big breakthough is when she is at her happiest.
Jessie also spends a lot of time and money on the Variant rights causes, campaigning to block registration acts and providing aid to needy Variants. Though this appears altruistic on the surface, the truth is that Jessie is simply trying to create a world in which she will not be persecuted, and this seems to be the easiest way.
Occupation/Trade |Black Market tech dealer, thief.
Skills/Talents |--Jessie is a master at computer technology, both hardware and software.
--Jessie is a master inventor, able to create nearly anything technological given enough time and resources.
--Jessie has built failsafes and blind spots into every piece of commissioned technology she has created, a series of countermeasure and failsafes designed to protect her in case those pieces were ever turned against them
Family |Girard Beadle (Alive), Lilly Beadle (Alive).
Background |Jessica Beadle was born to a family of old money living in the Vines. Her father had inherited his wealth from the family, and was determined to make even more money off of it. However, one bad investment after another sent the family into a spiral of throwing good money after bad, and by the time Jessie was 12 years old, the family was forced to sell their large house and many of their family heirlooms and move into a small neighborhood in Brigitte. Jessie never forgot living in the mansion she grew up in, the lavish parties her parents would throw, and the expensive lifestyle they once lived. Though even after the move she had a much better life than many other New Haven residents, Jessie quickly developed an attitude towards her parents and her new neighbors, believing all of this new life to be beneath her, and thinking that she deserved better.
Her chance came soon after her 13th birthday. After a traumatic event involving a home invasion, Jessie began to manifest Variant abilities. As her abilities grew, her parents became concerned at the wide variety of powers she showed, and took her to get registered. It was here that the sheltered rich girl first became aware of the idea of Variants operating outside the law. Immediately she knew what her path in life was. Vigilantism held no charm for her, she was interested only in helping herself. Being a supervillian, on the other hand...
Over the next several years, Jessie used her natural intelligence and her enhanced technological abilities to create a network of underground contacts. She began building her drones and technology in secret, always convincing her parents that it was 'school projects'. Finally, shortly before she turned 18, she found her chance. A N.O.V.A agent looking to get out, she needed a team to help her. Jessie volunteered, coordinating the technical side of things and shutting down security for the escape. While other members of the team did their part, Jessie ingrained herself with the refugee, Alice. Convincing the Variant operative that she needed to escape too, Jessie found herself whisked away from her parents home, now finding refuge in an apartment above the Wonderland Bar. She has retrofitted the apartment to include her workshop and computer lab, and now spends much of her day selling technology on the black market, or stealing from ATMs and planning bank heists.
