Dawkin Trustram

... Aw shit. Dawkin moved out of the way of the Moonblast, not seeking to test the limits of his powers in such dangerous fashion. Thoughts raced through his mind as to what his next action should be, and they all clicked together on seeing Hydregion swoop behind Cresslia. Upon Hydregion attacking Dawkin instantly activated Cresslia's Pokeball in an attempt to force her to return to the Pokeball. At the very worst it should stall things out. At the very best it should resolve the situation. Sometimes you just had to shoot your shot right?

Kalmia watched with a smile on her face as Eryn bonded with her new Pokémon. The trio of Pokémon happily accepted the Occa Berry, Pumpkaboo doing some form of half-bow to Eryn and then Kyllene for it. Finally, when Eryn took her goodbyes with Kalmia, she raised a hand to wish her the same.

'No problem! Good luck out there!' Kalmia wished her. Slowpoke did the same, a full twenty minutes after she had left.

Eryn escorted the Pokémon back to Infested Woods, where they said their goodbyes and then Eryn and her Pokémon headed on. And, so, eventually, after a meal, she headed for Trainers’ School because money.

It’s a school. Kids around Pureplain City flock here eventually to learn the basics of Pokémon battling, or there are trainers that come here only to attend the odd lesson before they embark on their big journey. There’s a patch of grass on the side where wild Pokémon can be found, and every week the teachers are known to have found a new specie to release into it in order to keep the students interested. And, of course, there’s plenty of Pokémon battling among the students as they do their best to learn. In fact…

To the right immediately after Eryn enters the school, there’s a list of students in a ranking-list on a wall. A huge list of the 50 top students, ranked in Pokémon battling ability, and there’s a thing that anyone who visits can challenge the list to get onto it temporarily. Leaving for too long obviously means falling off the list, but those who rank high gain some benefits and bragging rights.

So, here Eryn went to battle against the most common of the trainers down here. That’d be a fair amount of them here, despite the late hour, and Eryn could get into a fair bit of battles!

School Kids wants to fight!

So, with a varying amount of confidence fighting in battle, most of the kids had pretty local Pokémon. Pidgeys, Rattatas, the occasional Meowth, Lillipup. Found on Route 1, there were a few Growlithes and Ekans, as well. Then, produced from the school park, there was Shinx, Purrloin and Sunkern. Finally, there was this strange kid with only a Remoraid.

Eryn would not take any particular damage. Her team’s doing fine.

Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 460 P for winning!
Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 212 P for winning!
Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 331 P for winning!
Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 7 P for winning!
Eryn was victorious! Eryn gained 673 P for winning!

Tula grew to level 10!
Erebi grew to level 10!

Next target!

'Huh? You want to battle?' a tiny preschooler that looked like an easy target asked, looking up at Eryn. He looked a little confused. 'Um. Sure. If you’d like to,' he told, giving her a little smile.

Elite Four Loke would like to battle!

Loke threw a Pokéball onto the ground, and a decently large floating metal construct with two giant clawed arms floated up into the air between her and the little kid.

'Metang!'

Pokédex Entry #375 – Metang, the Iron Claw Pokémon. When two Beldum fuse together, Metang is formed. The brains of the Beldum are joined by a magnetic nervous system. By linking its brains magnetically, this Pokémon generates strong psychokinetic power. Its body is tough, one famously survived a crash with a jet plane without a scratch.

'I am Loke. “The Knight” of the Trainers’ School Elite Four…' the tiny kid said in a tiny, child’s voice. 'Shall we… not?' Loke asked, giving this super-friendly smile towards her.

If she took him on, she’d be destroyed. Seems like preying on those that look weak in the Pokémon World does not always work out. So, that lesson learned, moving on.

Instead…!

'Hey, you!'

A girl with a fierce ponytail and red jacket approached with a determined smirk from the school building.

'I saw you through the window. You’re targeting those you think are easy marks, ain’t ya? Well, I’m taking slight offense to that! Only slight, so you’ll get off easy, but you WILL have to face me in a Pokémon battle! I’m rank #23, Leanne, of Trainers’ School! Take me on!'

Wannabe Cooltrainer Leanne wants to battle!

That’s a more equal battle. Eryn’s actions?

Princess came out, and flew high while also throwing down Gust-based Sand Attacks. Stefan jumped back a bit and took it carefully, as this most recent challenger was stirring up the battlefield for him, making it hard to see and most assuredly making it hard to hit her as Princess was flying way overhead.

‘Hooo… Okay, that’s a trick… but…’ Yvonne said, as Erza commanded Princess to dive down at the now a bit more blinded Absol. Thooouuugh… ‘Stefan! Quick Attack!’

With that command, Stefan vanished from in front of Princess, ran around in a circle and hit her from the side, the deprived accuracy not making itself known as Stefan ran about and hit pretty well regardless. Princess fought pretty well, but with Stefan knowing Quick Attack, which was just Tackle but bloody superior, there wasn’t much Princess could do in this battle. Another two Quick Attacks, and Stefan would have knocked Princess out.

‘… Yeah, with that, I think I can announce myself the victor. Sorry about that, but I really needed to vent a little, hahahaha…’ Yvonne told, unable to keep herself from smiling.

If Erza can come up with some crazy plan to win here, he can go ahead and try it.

Otherwise, he can continue the post-battle talk if that appeals to him.

Or just head back to the Pokémon Center, because assumingly, that’s what he’d be doing next.

Anyways. What does Erza want to do?

If he still wants to Route 15…

Frans looked on with interest as Claire brought out her Pokédex and called Kalmia. A couple of seconds later…

'Hi, Claire! What’s up?' Kalmia asked from the other side. She then listened to the problem, going a bit ‘Hi, Ralia~’ to Ralia when she called, and then spent a couple of seconds in silence as she considered. 'Yeah, I see it, it says here you caught a Bronzor. I also got Del here, currently on the PC. But he caught the Bronzor and it registered as yours, and you can’t trade to him? Okay.' There was some noise on the other side.

'I assume the guy has a Trainer Card? It’s a bit hard without one…' Kalmia asked, and Frans quickly reached into his pocket and retrieved his card, showing his name and registration and such, along with the fact he has all 18 of Isson’s badges.

'… Then that’s honestly really weird. It should work as normal. The only thing I could think of would be if someone actually programmed a block on that the Pokéballs can’t connect to that particular trainer, but that’s conspiracy-level weirdness. Why would someone even do that? More like, who could even do that? Yeah, no, I’m a bit out of ideas…'

… In front of her, however, Frans has gone a bit pale.

‘… Uh. Um. Th-thank you for your help. That’ll… that’ll be enough,’ Frans said, turning around a bit. ‘… Er, I guess this one is still officially yours, so, uh, look after him for now?’ Frans said, handing over Bronzor’s Pokéball. On account of the Pokémon not belonging to Frans, the nickname didn’t register. ‘You can keep the rewards. You brought something interesting to light, after all. I’m going to go have a talk with my father…’ Frans said, giving Claire a bit of a pained smile.

‘… See, he’s the owner of the Pokéball Factory…’

That said, Frans intends to wander off towards Route 13 with Parvati gently drifting above him. Route 13 was the route on which the Private Palace, Frans’ home, was located.

What would Claire do?

In case she wants to go do something else.

Paradise, while unable to battle, had recovered enough to commit to this little task. Ralts stared at her in a bit of awe when she offered her head for Ralts to ride on. It took a moment's consideration, but Ralts got on and looked amazed as he was transported down to the ground. Finally down there, he turned towards Skylar and considered a bit. But, Skylar's good intentions were crystal clear to the empathic Pokémon, and… yeah, he had already decided. With a little smile, Ralts called out to Skylar.

‘Ralts!’

Meanwhile, Celebrity moved on to stare at Rotom. Rotom turned and curiously stared back. Rotom chuckled at her, and was totally ready to threaten with a couple sparks… when Celebrity went and pulled out the microphone. Rotom blinked at her a little in surprise. Then it was time to start singing.

'ROTO-!' Rotom spun and tried to fly away, but the Sing (which is a single-target move) soundwaves caught up to the ghost and the electric possessed washing machine promptly fell asleep. Vivia stepped up then and pulled Rotom’s Pokéball, calling back the sleeping Pokémon somewhere he could take a nice, long nap.

'… Thanks,' Vivia said, breathing out a bit, looking to Celebrity, and then reaching down to pat her a bit more, because perhaps she liked that.

Anyways. Skylar’s action now? And perhaps Valen’s, as well?

They’re currently at the Silent Shrine, primarily for praying or heading back to Highhill Town. Or Northern Silent Forest to the north and Southern Silent Forest to the south. Lorette’s still around close enough, too, frankly. Shrine Maiden of this place, and all.

@Joshua Tamashii @Eklispe

‘I said that at worst I'd be interpreted as an extremist, I didn't say I was one,’ Roderick corrected, sounding a mite bit frustrated. ‘You're naive if you think the forces of the world are balanced. It does not concern me, I'll simply deal with the problems as they come. Yveltal being a problem? I'll deal with it. Xerneas becoming a problem as a result? I’ll deal with that. Arceus having a problem with me messing with his balance? Then by my title as the Boss of Team Virtue, I'll deal with him, too!’

‘Deal with him!’ Chatot repeated.

Then, however, there was Hydreigon sneaking up on Cresselia as she was charging her moonblast. However, Cresselia was not so unaware as to not notice. Her objective might be Darkrai, but she was still a Psychic-type on a battlefield. Noting Hydreigon approaching, Cresselia spun about in mid-air and sent her beam hurling back towards Hydreigon. However, this was a hurried move with a beam that typically needed to be calm, Hydreigon was experienced enough to see the signs and dodge a direct hit… but the sheer power of the beam meant even a near miss still showered Hydreigon in fairy-type offensive energy, dealing Super Effective damage x4. Hydreigon was certainly on his last legs after that.

This meant, though, that if Bisharp was still thrown he was free to make an attack on Cresselia, as there was no moonblast to deflect.

Pangoro did his Earthquake, and- ‘Oh, darn-’ Roderick was quickly grabbed by Archeops as the ground beneath him gave way. Being that the Earthquake wasn't aimed directly at any Pokémon it didn't damage anyone, but it literally levelled the playing field as the walls of the crypt came tumbling down, Luxray stylishly jumping down from a large rock, Roderick carried down by Archeops and Chatot while Oscar came rolling down with his arms around his Smeargle protecting the Pokémon from the ordeal.

By this point the room was covered in a cloud of dust from the falling debris, the girl behind Amelia had given a slight noise of distress thinking the whole tomb was going to come crashing down on them. However, everyone seemed unharmed, save the archeologists that just woke up in a cold sweat.

Now Joshua and Amelia started talking ceasefire.

‘I'd be hesitant to let you be his trainer. After all your drivel I wouldn't be surprised if you let Darkrai freely put people into eternal nightmares because “it's in his nature”,’ Roderick told, ‘and I'd hardly call this situation “for no reason”...’ Roderick said… but then sighed. ‘... However, I can tell both our sides are battling for some sort of justice, and champions of justice should not fight. That said, Cresselia may not see it that way…’

Meanwhile up above, Cresselia may or may not have been attacked by Bisharp, but for the sake of this continued scene she was able to keep the critter from climbing on her. That was, however, when Dawkin activated the Pokéball, attempting to return Cresselia to it… and while energy shimmered around the legendary, it was as if she simply refused the Pokéball's call. Cresselia spun towards Dawkin, glaring something akin to cold murder, and headed to fly towards him…!

Now, Cresselia’s only intention was to nab away the staff from Dawkin, though it was likely he’d mistake her intentions. Not that they’d ever be clarified.

… Because that's when Darkrai appeared, blocking the way between Dawkin and Cresselia. To Joshua and Amelia, Darkrai had just suddenly taken off at high speed when Dawkin had attempted to call Cresselia back. Cresselia wavered, faced with her rival, whose gaze squarely told he didn't like the way she had looked at Dawkin. Cresselia backed off, but quickly started charging another Moonblast…!

Darkrai snapped his fingers, and a small light emitted from his hand.

Cresselia recoiled, stunned, as a small light show of energy danced around her before vanishing.

That, was Disable.

Cresselia's Moonblast was Disabled!

Unable to suddenly perform her only effective attack, Cresselia panicked, looking down into the tomb as if for help. As soon as she realized that she wouldn’t be getting any, the Psychic legendary suddenly blasted away at far too quick a speed for any normal being to catch up to. The once again wild Cresselia soared off into the heavens.

‘… Let me get this straight,’ Roderick spoke, looking up at where that exchange just happened. ‘In the great natural balance of things Arceus preordained, Cresselia and Darkrai battle for our dreams…’ He looked at Joshua. ‘… and Cresselia finds herself a Psychic-type meant to balance out in a fight against a Dark-type?’ … He shook his head a bit, regardless of the answer to that.

‘Regardless. I am willing to overlook Darkrai's departure from this tomb if he does so as someone's partner. However, let me make clear. If I hear that Darkrai's been putting people into those never-ending nightmares of his… I'll find you, and I'll do what I do best.’

So Roderick said, his Chatot landing on his shoulder and nodding, while behind him Oscar was picking himself up and giving his Smeargle a hand. Didn’t look like he’d been able to draw much.

Darkrai descended down into the crypt again, placing himself in the center of the room, his might obvious as the legendary Pokémon set himself down after Cresselia had been driven off. He was facing Joshua now. Well, then.

One thing, first, however. The likes of Darkrai couldn’t just join anyone. They’d have to prove themselves worthy of him. Honestly, it’s Pokémon tradition, so please don’t consider it unnecessary violence and try to negotiate as to why he should join without a fight. Darkrai floated in the middle of the room, looking towards the one who would want to call himself “the Trainer of Darkrai”.

Would he like a go?

Still, that does not concern Dawkin and Amelia!

What would they like to do?

Dawkin will have his power-up for at least a bit longer.

‘…’ The girl from earlier is still standing here, Abra on her shoulder, camera in hand, snapping a picture of Darkrai. She probably got one of Cresselia earlier, too. Yupp.

As Paradise lowered the Ralts down to the ground, Skylar patted her head affectionately before pulling out her Pokeball. "Good job, Paradise. Get some more good rest." As he tapped the ball to her head, she smiled very slightly as she returned into her ball in a nice splash of crimson, vanishing from the world once again. She'll come back out after Skylar can finally get to a Pokemon Center, that's for sure.

The Ralts, meanwhile, was standing on the ground and looking at Skylar with a smile. It called out to him with a happy "Ralts!" and Skylar immediately knew what to do. He grabbed one of his spare Pokeballs from his bag, crouched down, and poked the little guy in the head with it. After a few seconds, the ball clicked, and it was official.

Skylar caught the Ralts!

Would you like to give a nickname to the Ralts?

Skylar let the smol boi back out of his Pokeball, looking at the Ralts with a finger to his chin before he decided on an official name for the new friend. "Jonathan, or JoJo for simplicity. You okay with that nickname, bud?"

"Raall!"

"JoJo it is! Welcome aboard!" Skylar lowered his hands to grab the little dude, carrying him up to his shoulder and placing him gently onto it. JoJo was a bit hesitant and scared at first, but he quickly adjusted as he held onto Skylar's shoulder with one hand and his neck with the other.

"Hey, Breeze? Mind doing the thing again?" Skylar asked his starter as he held up another 1500P, the same for the reward he got from catching the Ralts. Seabreeze let out a nice "Gull!" before grabbing the money up with his beak and flapping over to the donation box once again once again.

Tipping another 1500P! Oh jeez...

Seabreeze settled back into Skylar's hair as Skylar looked at the blurry outline of the Shrine proper, looking at it with a smile and looking down at it's base. Just then, he closed his eyes, and wished for a safe journey. That's what you do at this shrine, right? New trainers pray for a good journey?

Skylar reopened his eyes (not that anyone could tell behind his shades), and he looked back at Vivia, who was petting a Celebrity who was relishing in it. She was loving every gosh darn second of pets, and was stretching into them as well. Skylar let it happen a few more seconds before he stepped over and had to interrupt the fun.

"Sorry I have to interrupt the pats, girls, but we should try to get to Highhill before nightfall. If you wanted to pray at the shrine, I'd say now's a good time before we need to go... oh! This is JoJo by the way!" Skylar motioned to his shoulder to point out JoJo, who was waving shyly at Vivia and Celebrity.

"Rrall..."

Skylar looked at the exit towards Highhill town, then back to Valen once more. "The offer still stands, Valen. Wanna come to Highhill with us?"

Joshua's expression only soured more as Roderic began ranting. Forget being an extremist, this man was completely touched in the head. Taking down legendary pokemon, even Arceus, just because they were judged to be a problem. Such a person was a threat not only to the pokemon in his sights but also to the people around him. Keeping these thoughts to himself though, he calmly watched things play out around him. Seeing Hydreigon getting brushed by the Moonblast caused him no small amount of concern but luckily his pokemon managed to stay afloat, if just barely.

Thankfully, Darkrai seemed to have recovered enough to actually begin doing something and something it did. It drove off Cresselia by disabling it's only decent attack in this scenario, forcing it's rival to flee. Joshua motioned Bisharp to come back down, which the pokemon did, landing next to Oscar and his Smeargle. The Dark/Steel-types glanced at the two as it passed but it gave off no signs of hostility, but rather pity if anything. Joshua moved over to Hydreigon and applied a Hyper Potion to his injured pokemon before doing the same to Bisharp. He listened to Roderic's generally hostile words before standing up and looking at the man.
"Since I know my student well, would you mind calling off your forced upstairs. She'll go and negotiate with the Ghost-types to get them to calm down. We've already caused enough destruction to this tomb and we don't need anymore to happed and threaten it's stability more. Let the children go and we can debate the rights and wrongs of the world as you wish." He said, his tone calm. "As for you taking me or Darkrai down, I've fought Teams Magma, Aqua, Galactic, and Rocket. The first two were a lot like you, but in the end, their forms of thinking were flawed. I'm sure you and Amethyst are not much different in that regard. I was in Hoenn when Kyorge and Groudon were released. You should have seen the chaos that erupted from that. I wonder what you would've done in that scenario? Try to make sure they couldn't cause trouble... permanently?

As for Darkrai, it does not always cause eternal nightmares. I mean, it's prescience doesn't always cause nightmares in general. I know a town in Unova that a Darkrai resides in. I happened to catch a glimpse of it. Yet no one suffered from anything more then the occasional nightmare there, like normal people. Why do you think that is?

And as for Cresselia having a disadvantage over Darkrai, you can put that down to nightmares being stronger then dreams, at least for a little while. We never remember the dreams we had the night before but we can remember nightmares we had several nights ago. However, dreams slowly but surely wipe the nightmares away. Doesn't the dynamic between Darkrai and Cresselia not resemble this. Darkrai is stronger, thus it can travel safely, causing nightmares if it chooses to do so. Cresselia follows close behind, bringing with it good dreams to everyone indiscriminately.

Regardless though, I'm not a terrorist or the kind of person you think I am. I don't go out of my way to cause others to suffer, be they pokemon or people. I do, however, go out of my way to interfere with people like you and Team Amethyst. You folk just typically cause pain and suffer for people, pokemon, or both
."

His speech to Roderic done, he finished healing his pokemon before returning all but Absol to their pokeballs and turning to Darkrai.
"Now, my friend, shall we see wether or not I'm worthy of catching you?"

Meanwhile, Amelia made her way over to Dawkin, gently touching his arm.
"Are you okay?" She asked him gently while also watching Oscar and his Smeargle. Once Dawkin gave her a response, she made her way over to Oscar. "Are you two okay as well? If so, do you think there is anyway we could go up and stop the fighting between your group and the pokemon who live here? There's no more reason for anymore poekmon to get injured."

Before it got to the point of Princess fainting, Erza quickly took her pokeball and called her back. It was unnecessary keeping this fight for any longer than it needed to be, the girl had proved her point: Her Absol was an amazing pokémon and it was very, very experienced from what Erza could tell.

Sighing softly, the boy whispered to Princess pokéball and then looked over at Yvonne with a bright smile, nodding to her.

"Wow, you've done a great work with your Absol. It's really tough!" Although this girl's attitude rubbed Erza in the wrong way, he had no qualms against admitting defeat and even complimenting her pokémon. Maybe he was slowly starting to understand that he couldn't win everytime, especially after two rather humiliating losses in a row - one with the shiny Blitzle and the second in a trainer battle, against this apparently much more experienced trainer.

There was absolutely no reason to remain here with his entire team weakened, so Erza moved along hurriedly to the pokémon center in Redcoast to get his pokémon healed...

..

Once done, Erza switched routes. Instead of returning to Route 15, the boy walked back to Route 11 - he was just hurrying along, trying to avoid trainers and pokémon unless something extraordinary (and not a Duskull!) caught his attention. If he managed to do such, he'd move over to Route 12 this time around.

Woah woah, hold up. Frans had that many badges? That was like, all of them. She almost said something about it, but Kalmia interrupted her before she could express anything other than visible surprise.

"Eh?" Claire frowned, furrowing her brow as she listened to Frans. That sounded...pretty shady. Why would anyone do that? She kind of wanted to punch the guy that did that in the face...but well, that wasn't her business. So for now, she'd let Frans go. She had other stuff to do anyways. She needed to head on off to World Edge anyways. She had super secret stuff to do. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of him for ya!" Oh, right, one more thing. "And remember your training! Pose! Intimidation! Works in everything, not just pokemon battles!" She shouted after him, though whether he'd actually do it or not was entirely up to him.

"Aaaah, it's nice seeing pupils grow up so fast." She sighed, shaking her head, reminiscing about their entire training session as though it had been some long, arduous, but fulfilling journey. Ralia simply giggled, rolling her eyes a bit and patting Claire on the head and tugging on the pokedex.

Uh...oh right, she hadn't hung up yet.

"Ahaha, sorry about that professor, but thanks! Talk to ya later! I got a date with World Edge city!" He'd probably call when all of this was sorted out, so for now Claire made her way towards Worldedge, doing a bit of training along the way, focusing mostly on getting Pip's level up to par with her others.

Eryn Montero

Pureplain City: Trainer’s School || Day 2: Night

“Whew, thank Arceus he’s nice, but he’s still pretty scary,” Eryn said, walking quickly away from Loke, the tiny boy who’d accepted her battle challenge with a smile and proceeded to whip out a Metang and introduce himself as one of the school ranking’s Elite Four. As she’d suspected, she was definitely not equipped to fight the top tiers of the rankings.

A little put off by the fact that a boy around a third of her age had a Pokemon so strong, Eryn was all too happy when another girl appeared, this time challenging her. At rank twenty-three, Leanne seemed around Eryn’s level, since rank thirties and below had been relatively manageable targets, but the girl’s attitude had Eryn wondering whether that was really true. Who’s to say the rankings weren’t increasing exponentially instead of linearly? Loke, for instance, was much stronger than she’d expected, and losing before bed wasn’t on her to-do list.

“Oops, sorry, you got me. Just wanted some quick cash before I left the city, and hey, those trainers accepted my challenge, right? And, speaking of,” Eryn said, glancing at Dei, “I don’t accept yours. Dei, Smokescreen!”

With Dei belching his smoke, Eryn grabbed him and made a run for it, returning her other Pokemon as she did. She hadn’t broken any laws, hadn’t violated any rules, and frankly didn’t want to deal with consequences she didn’t have to. So, away she went, dashing out the courtyard and weaving around the city to get to the Pokemon Center.

Pureplain City: Pokemon Center || Day 2: Night

“Ah, I’m so tired,” Eryn groaned, collapsing face-first onto the mattress. Turning, she looked at her Pokemon, who were clambering either onto the bed or onto the various pieces of furniture around the room, looking equally ready to crash despite being fully healed. She was equally pooped, after that run, and she wanted to pass right out.

“Ugh, need to check my messages before bed though. Phebes will kill me if I don’t respond soon.”

Pulling out her Pokedex, Eryn swiped open the messaging function, eagerly devouring the essay-like walls of text she’d received. Phoebe, a friend from high school who’d graduated to university with aspirations to become a Pokemon researcher, had been Eryn’s friend ever since the fateful day they’d sat next to each other at lunch in grade school. Currently under the tutelage of some fancy professor in Witchpeak City, Phoebe had promised to write often, and write she did. Her most recent messages meticulously detailed the unfavorable conditions around Mt. Allmass, featuring many complaints about the weather, her lack of access due to not having a flying Pokemon available to her, and the plight of trying to study the area without becoming too involved with Team Virtue. Steel-types were the highlight of their study, it seemed, and such types were difficult to find without heading into the mountain itself, which Phoebe was specifically barred from doing.

Her message amused Eryn, as her messages often did. Their interests were so different, yet they’d become such good friends. Yes they both loved Pokemon, and yes they both worked with them, but their interest and work with Pokemon were completely different: Eryn sought to train, travel, and battle with her own Pokemon, while Phoebe aspired to discover, write, and publish papers on Pokemon not necessarily her own. However, while their interests divided them physically, their shared appreciation for Pokemon united them mentally, which was why Eryn was able to summon up enough energy to write her own not-as-lengthy reply back. Along with sympathizing and wishing Phoebe well, she mentioned her own resident steel-type, Kylie, and teased that she might visit Phoebe in the not-so-distant future. Then, message sent, she rolled to the side of the bed, poised to turn off the lights.

Another glance over the room told her none of her Pokemon had moved much from where they’d landed after arriving. On the bed were Dei and Tula, the former curled up at the edge of the bed with one eye cracked open to watch Eryn move and the latter where Eryn had plopped her earlier, eyes open even in sleep due to a lack of eyelids. Kylie, on the other hand, was on the table, limbs splayed and stomach skywards on a surface that could only be comfortable for a steel-type, and Eri was curled on the armchair in the corner, ears angled towards Eryn even though his eyes were closed.

“Long day, ya’ll, but good job. Let’s work just as hard tomorrow.”

With that and a hearty yawn, Eryn flicked off the lights, mentally marking the end to another fruitful day.

Route 2 || Day 3: Morning

Okay, Eryn had been a little paranoid, but she’d slighted a trainer more than once yesterday and she hadn't exactly been up to dealing with it this morning. So, after leaving at an absolutely unpredictable time—with all three digits on the clock different—Eryn had sneaked her way onto Route 2, where she promptly relaxed, bouncing Tula in her arms as she trekked the rest of the way.

Having become rather familiar with the path’s landscape after travelling it so many times, she was almost in her element now, walking down the route. Last night had been offered a restful sleep, as was expected after a long day of training, and, if all went according to plan, she was finally moving on to the next town on the map: Lakewatch Town.

Thoughts of dragons and watery expanses filled Eryn’s mind, but soon enough she found herself in front of the opening of the Wet Caverns, and she peered into the semi-darkness with trace amounts of trepidation. She’d heard many a story of the frightful horrors that awaited travelers inside the caverns, and though she was sure most were just exaggerations, she didn’t like the chance that one might be true. Wet mazes and sudden cliffs as well as the rare beast in the murks and darks—tales of the cavern didn’t inspire a kind image.

Still, instead of fear, Eryn felt a bit excited about the entire ordeal. Here was her first cave journey, where she’d have to be careful about her resources and choices, where she had real concerns about getting lost and not making it through to the other side. Sure the Infested Woods had been creepy, but the Wet Caverns were challenging, almost like an unofficial rite of passage for trainers. Inside, she’d be able to prove her aptitude for adventuring, for exploration and discovery. Inside lay possibilities she would have to use everything at her disposal to take advantage of because hey, here be dragons.

“Well, hopefully we find something interesting inside,” Eryn said, looking down at Tula, then at her other Pokemon. “You all ready?”

Dei grinned, as did Kylie, and Eri nodded. Tula, well, Tula wriggled.

Dawkin Trustram

Well he couldn't really expect anythin- oh shit. Dawkin's disappointment at his failure was interrupted by Cresslia swiftly moving towards him with nothing short of murderous intent. He barely had time to take two steps back before Darkrai intercepted his opposite, negating her attack with seeming ease as Dawkin watched, in a bit of awe at the two legendaries right before him. Cresslia looked around with something akin to panic and her face and soared away, at a speed that was simply impossible to react to. Darkrai had drifted back down to his original position.

Dawkin simply stood still, fully processing what had just happened. He had just participated, albeit lightly, in a battle between two legendary Pokemon along with the leader of Team Virtue. It was only when Amelia tapped him that he realized he was staring where Cressalia had vanished into the clouds. "Y-yes, I'm fine." Dawkin said haltingly. Oh, he was still holding onto the staff as well. A souvenir perhaps? Maybe, much much later, he could use it again successfully? Ah, a silly hope, for now at least. For now.

Amelia stepped away and Dawkin staggered a bit as the power imparted to him suddenly left, making him feel as though a tremendous weight had just descended upon him. After a few moments on one knee, he felt like he could move again, though there he still felt weighty. Hopefully the feeling would pass soon enough. "I have an escape rope, I can take us back to the entrance if that will help." Dawkin added onto Amelia's statement. He glanced at Joshua and Darkrai. Was Joshua really going to catch Darkrai? Dawkin wasn't perhaps overly found of Joshua but he couldn't say he wasn't curious as to the result of this encounter.

'Oh, right. Yeah, I should probably do that,' Vivia stated to Skylar’s thing about praying if she should. 'Oooh. Hello, Jojo. I’m Vivia. Hope you’ll have fun with your new trainer,' Vivia said, nodding to the little Ralts before heading off to pray. Meanwhile, we’ll assume Valen gave some form of reply to Skylar that meant he’ll be staying here for now, and then Skylar was on the way again, still with Vivia along.

On the way, the path between the two halves of Silent Forest had its own look.

Erza called back Princess, confirming Yvonne’s victory. Then he praised her efforts-

Yvonne wavered a bit, maintaining her smile but bringing one hand up to her chest and lowered her gaze a little to the ground.

‘Y-yeah, he is…’ Yvonne stated, suddenly a lot more demure than previously. Her smily waned away slowly, and then, when Erza was about to leave…

‘… Wait,’ Yvonne said, calling back Stefan and then walking up to Erza, though without making eye-contact. ‘… Sorry. I lashed out at you when you came to comfort me. It’s, er, it was good of you, don’t reconsider it,’ she said, looking sideways. ‘So, like, take these. Thanks.’ So she said before thrusting something into Erza’s chest and then hurrying off. He found himself holding a bunch of scales. Most of them useless, but-

Erza obtained Heart Scale!
Erza obtained Deep Sea Scale!
Erza obtained Prism Scale!

… And that was about it.

With that, Erza headed by the Redcoast City Pokémon Center-

-and then it was off for new lands. He headed through Route 11, no biggie, he was done exploring this place now. Instead, he took his sights north, upon the great plains that awaited there. A bit further north, and it became clear that the mountain-side had done a number on these plains. Yet… wasn’t it an amazing spectacle to behold?

Frans nodded to her taking care of Bronzor for now. Then, there was the call about remembering the poses, which made Frans laugh a bit again, striking one of the poses that Claire had drilled into him before departing on further. Then she addressed Kalmia.

'To the big city, huh? Well, good luck!' Kalmia simply wished her, and then she was off.

Approaching Worldedge City gave rise to something of a spectacle. Mt. Edge towered above all, yet the city itself gave it no quarter. It was as if the city itself followed the mountain far above where a regular city would end, and it should be noted that the entrance to Worldedge City is pretty high up, above a cliff down to the water, yet Worldedge City stretched DOWN as well as up. There were buildings on top of buildings, and it really looked like the whole thing should collapse… yet it did not. Supported by some form of mystic energy of Mt. Edge, the largest city of Isson was a spectacle to behold… and, well. Nothing else to it than to enter, is there?

Leanne was smirking confidently at Eryn… until suddenly Eryn was like “nah”.

'WHATTHE-' Leanne made a noise of distress as Dei smokescreened and Eryn made a run for it. Shortly after Eryn found one or two embers from a Flareon flying through the smoke, Leanne completely forgetting she wasn’t supposed to aim for trainers who didn’t accept the battle because she felt immeasurably snubbed. 'COWARD! COME FIGHT ME, YOU-!' … Was the last thing Eryn heard before she managed to dash out the area.

Eryn spent a while resting at the Pokémon Center, texting her friend, and then the day after she was up and it was time to head out again.

Managing to avoid any sort of fuzz in the morning in Pureplain City, Eryn successfully made her way across Route 2. Now, there’s trainers on the bridges of Route 2’s rivers, but Eryn could avoid those and arrive to the incline leading up to Wet Caverns in peace. There, she was confronted with a dark hole in the wall, leading into the mountainside which presented the caves that she sought to traverse. Reaffirming with herself and all of the stories around it, Eryn gathered up her Pokémon and entered.

‘Alright, we’ll leave it to her,’ Roderick agreed on the Amelia stopping the ghosts. ‘Hmpf. Team Amethyst are common criminals who do what they do for the sake of profit. I do what I do for the sake of the people. In the event of Kyogre and Groudon, I would do what I could to stop them. Field all my forces and attempt to subdue the beasts, perhaps trying to convince another legendary to assist if we can find one. Rayquaza, preferably. After they’re subdued, I start seeking a way to ensure it will never happen again. Permanently, as you so mention,’ Roderick told, simple, with no doubt believing each word he said.

‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it. We have detailed records of the horrors that Darkrai once caused, and as to why the seal was needed. It would make us fools to not act on them. … And I don’t know about you, but I like my dreams without these two beasts contending for if we have nice dreams, regardless of how it’s balanced.’ He then shook his head at the mention of thinking Joshua might be a terrorist or making people suffer.

‘I recognize you for what you are. It may have been my annoyance talking when I said you’d have Darkrai inflict nightmares on people. You are a protector of Pokémon, your justice maintained in your own way, whereas I am a protector of people. The two are not mutually exclusive. Team Virtue has fought Team Amethyst in defense of the Pokémon they’ve tried to poach, after all. One must sometimes take priority over the other. For what you do, however, I respect you,’ Roderick said.

Then Amelia went over first to Dawkin, and then over to Oscar.

‘Oh, yes, I’m fine, I’m grateful for your concern,’ Oscar said, standing up to take a mystic pose, despite being totally dusted by the fall. ‘The fates move in mysterious ways. Very well, I shall assist thee in quelling the conflict that has been stained the tapestry of today,’ Oscar stated.

‘Chatot,’ Roderick told, and held his arm in front of him. Chatot eagerly jumped onto his arm. ‘To Ivory. The mission is over. Return!’

‘The mission is over. Return!’ Chatot replied, perfectly using Roderick’s voice.

‘Oscar, take Chatot with you. That should make things work smoothly,’ Roderick said, Chatot flying over to land on Oscar’s shoulder. Oscar bowed to him.

‘Chatot’s assistance will be invaluable. Thank you, your excellency,’ Oscar said… and then turned to Dawkin. ‘Now, if you would. I’m the chosen wielder of the staff of righteousness. It is my pride and joy to be permitted to lay my lowly hands on such a wondrous artifact… so… may I request to have it back?’ Oscar asked, holding his hand out to Dawkin.

Dawkin mentioned Escape Rope.

‘You desire to reach the entrance. If so, then it would appear that you have use of my Abra? He can teleport us there at once,’ the girl over there asked, looking over here. ‘So… It would appear that you are a medium, too?’ she asked, looking at Amelia. An analyzing gaze, it is.

REGARDLESS, ASSUMING THEY EVENTUALLY ACTUALLY USE ONE OR THE OTHER TO GET BACK.

Erza was a magnet of getting free items, apparently. Without knowing what to do, he shyly thanks the trainer that just handed his ass to him and then proceeds to organize his backpack, putting the newly gained scales inside... It was starting to feel heavy, heh. Oh, now that he opened the backpack, he carefully picks up the egg that was given to him a while ago, holding it over in front of his eyes with a puzzled expression.

"What are you gonna be, hmm? I'm so curious, damn." With a sigh followed by a lowly laughter, he returns it to the backpack, closing it and returning it to his back. Right, NOW he went and what he did in the previous post: Pokémon Center. Heal. Route 12.

...

And once arriving there, what a tremendous sight this place was. Erza couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear as he looked over at the scenery, delving deeper into the route and immediately desiring to move up across the biggest stone cliff and look over the entirety of the route. Pokémon seemed abundant here with many varying types clearly visible right off the bat. Erza took his five pokéballs and tossed them all up, releasing his entire team.

"Vee!"

"Priiii!"

"GROOOOOOWWWW, LITHE!"

"Skull..."

"... Form?"

"Heh, I wanted you guys to see this place, beautiful, right?"

Vee and Hunter seemed to agree immediately. "Eevee!" The evolution pokémon quickly climbed over Erza's shoulder, standing there. Meanwhile, Growlithe began sniffing the ground ahead of Erza. "Growlitheee... Grow." It was probably picking the scent of the many pokémon that could be found in this area. Extraordinary, Castform and Princess were interacting for the first time, talking amongst themselves.

Eventually, Growlithe stopped and began growling in a certain direction. As Erza turned, a small trio of Poochyena hastily hurried out, possibly not looking for a fight against a squad of pokémon. Erza hummed softly and decidedly returned Duskull, Castform and Pidgey to their pokéball, nodding. "Don't worry, you'll be here in a few... now, let's go, Vee! Hunter!"

With that, Erza breaks off into a sprint with his two loyal pokémon. Hunter running alongside him, keeping up with ease, and Vee on his shoulder. He'll be searching with Hunter's help (and his acute scent) for some pokémon to catch and will target these five:

Poochyena.

A Dark-type which evolves into a mighty... Mightyena. Hunter will do the battle for Erza, utilizing embers and returning bite-for-bite until the Poochyena is weakened sufficiently. Not a very bright strategy or anything.

Vulpix.

Castform will be brought out here. A non-stab Water Gun (as he has no means of using forecast to change into rain form without, you know, rain) is still super effective. Same drill, weaken and then Erza will do the spinning-backflip-into throwing pokéball straight at the Vulpix.

Mareep.

Now it's Duskull's turn. The only pokémon that is able to damage the Mareep without the risk of being caught in a Static-paralyze. Night Shade, disable it's Thundershock (it's probably his only damaging move alongside tackle, right?) and weaken it sufficiently for Erza. A-ye, captain.

Budew.

A grass-type! Especially one that looks very cute and evolves into something quite amazing. Princess will be the choice here. Gust should be able to handle this little bud easily - and then, voilá. The pokéball goes;

Eevee.

Eventually, Erza's Vee will warn him of the scent of a nearby Eevee. Eevees are very rare and even though Erza already got one, he has no clue of what Vee wants to evolve into - a second Eevee means an abundance of possibilities, so he'll go for another one. For this one, Vee will be his go-to choice, as he believes that Vee is capable of taking care of one of it's own... Be it by weakening it for Erza to catch, or convincing that coming with Erza is a very good option. We'll see how this plays out.

"Ah, you got one thing wrong about me. I protect both people and pokemon and strike a balance between the two. I believe we have no business deciding the fates of pokemon. Likewise, I believe that we humans are on this planet for a reason. I just act for the betterment and protection of either side when one threatens the other while I'm around." Joshua said to Roderick calmly.

Amelia turned to Dawkin as he spoke of using his escape rope to get them to the entrance of the tombs. She was about to agree when the girl from earlier spoke up, saying her Abra could take them there instead. She figured this would be the better alternative and it would spare Dawkin the use of his item.
"We'll use your Abra then Miss.... um... We've never asked you for your name have we?! I'm so sorry!" Amelia said, sounding rather apologetic at the last part. the girl had been helping them but they hadn't even bothered to learn her name despite all of that.

Regardless, once they were teleported to the entrance of the tombs where the battle was taking place, she glanced around at the two armies. She spotted one trainer in particular among the Team Virtue members, the one who had attacked the Driffloon that was now hers. She had other things to take care of though and pushed that aside. Once all, or at least most, of the Team Virtue army retreated, Amelia moved forward, putting herself between them and the army of Ghost-Types. Most would be scared but Amelia simply stood there calmly, aware of the danger but not scared.
"Aegislash, Grengar, Cofagrigus, that's enough! You're enemy is retreated and the threat to your master is no more!" She called out to them, still staying calm. Assuming they even slightly hesitated instead of moving to run her over, She would continue to speak. "Darkrai is safe, at least for the moment. You need to fall back so that your wounded can be taken care of. I will explain more once you calm down but please, let your enemies leave for now. It's your win and there's no reason to pursue them further!"

The city was absolutely massive.

Her feet carried her swiftly, the grass beneath her feet crunching softly as she moved. She could see it from a good distance away, the sight of it only serving to make her move faster. The sprawl not only climbed high into Mt. Edge, but down. Buildings on top of buildings, almost entirely nonsensical and physics breaking. Claire stood at the entrance, eyes wide with mild wonder as she arrived at the city.

"Huuuuuge!" The redhead turned her eyes upwards towards the sprawling cityscape. She heard rumors and talk about this place, but none of those did this massive city justice. In fact, it was so big she didn't entirely know where to start. She currently found herself in the information district - but who had time for books when in this amazing city? Even if the place looked like something right out of a video game, she kept walking. A brief stop at the guide booth showed her exactly where she wanted to go.

The commercial district.

Her wallet trembled in fear.

Running through the streets, Claire quickly found a free Abra to teleport her to the northern District - which dropped her, quite literally into the Commercial District.

"Gah!" Stumbling slightly as she hit the ground, Claire quickly looked around. Ralia was still on her head. "So many!" Claire was in shoppers heaven. So many stores! So many places to go! She could probably use a change of clothes by now. A style change for a new city was always fun, heh. Couldn't wear the same thing all the time. "To the department stoooore!"

Skylar smiled as he arrived to Highhill town, looking out at the town with excitement. Of course, he couldn't really take in any natural beauty of the town as everything was incredibly blurry. Still, his dad and Xatu taught him enough about what he needed to do in any new town before he had set off on his journey. A red roof was likely a Pokemon Center, a Blue Roof was a Pokemart, and... well, there's a Gym in Highhill he thought. At first, Skylar was unsure about tackling the Pokemon League, but the more and more he pressed on his journey, he kinda wanted to try it. At least the Minor League, if anything.

He looked towards Vivia once again. "So, I'm thinking I have a plan here. First, I wanna go heal my team up, since they could all use a decent round of Pokemon Centering before we press forward at all. After the Pokemon Center, I wanted to go and buy some Pokeballs to catch with. Once those two are done, I'mma go lookin' for some new buddies to carry on this journey with." Skylar explained his plan to Vivia after pulling his sunglasses off for a moment, cleaning them off slightly, and placing them back onto the top of his head. He was blind, sure, but his sunglasses didn't exactly help with things like that. Interestingly, JoJo took a little bit of interest in the sunglasses.

"That's my plan. You're welcome to come with me on it, but if you wanted to go and do your own thing, that's cool. We could meet up at the Gym later once all that's over with." Whether or not Vivia was going to tag along, Skylar would start his little adventure (though, if she did leave for a little, Skylar would tell her goodbye for sure.)

(From here, I'mma divide everything in my post with lines so it can be more easily read. If something interesting happens at any of the locations, feel free to have that interrupt Skylar's plans before he continues on.)

~-~ OFF TO THE POKEMON CENTER! ~-~

Skylar stepped into the Pokemon Center for the first time as a trainer, and he was just as enchanted with it as he figured. He wasn't sure, but he was fairly certain that the ever-so familiar tune he heard when he visited with his dad back in Freecape was even better as a trainer. (Yes, I know it's the XY one and this is based on ORAS, but the XY one is better in my eyes.)

Skylar stepped up to the counter after returning each one of his team members (save JoJo, who hadn't been hurt yet) to their respective Pokeballs. In his standard cheery voice, he looked at Nurse Joy and pleasantly asked her for the first, but definitely not last, time. "Hey Nurse Joy! Could I have my team healed, please?"

Of course, she would oblige, unless the machine wasn't working.

Afterwards, Skylar would once again release all of his team members back out into the open Pokemon Center. He hated them being cooped up in their Pokeballs.

"Wingull!" Seabreeze was first, and immediately returned from the ground back onto Skylar's head. He was certainly a little annoyed, though, since he couldn't find his normal spot easily. It took him a little shuffling, but he got back into his groove quickly.

"Jiggly." Celebrity was next. Just as she had done before, she looked up at Skylar and stared at him, most likely wanting some headpats from him. Chuckling, the boy would happily give in and ruffle the curl on her head a little bit.

"Tropius?" Paradise was the last to be sent back out, and she looked at Skylar with an inquisitive expression. Carefully, the mama Tropius inspected the young trainer for any injuries before nodding and offering him some fruit from her neck. Skylar pleasantly declined, but he did scratch her chin. "I'm glad to see you're doing better."

This also served as the first time JoJo got to see the party in full! He waved happily to the Tropius that helped him once again, cowered a little behind Skylar at the sight of the sassy 'Puff, and bopped Seabreeze on the beak affectionately. He'd fit in comfortably with this merry band.

As Skylar and Co. made their way to the door, Skylar looked back to Nurse Joy once more to ask a question.

"Hey Nurse Joy, are there any rare Pokemon around Highhill?"

~-~ NEXT UP, THE POKEMART! ~-~

Skylar wasn't going to be in here long, and Celebrity and Paradise would stay outside for a small little bit while he went in and bought the convenience pack of ten Pokeballs. He grabbed the package of normal Pokeballs (after a small bit of difficulty, since he struggled to read the packaging because it was so blurry), priced at 2000P, and carried them up to the Sales Clerk before he noticed JoJo poking at his Sunglasses. With a smile, Skylar pulled them off and gave them to the Ralts, who was confused about how to wear them with hair in their eyes. Skylar eventually settled on placing the glasses on the Ralts' head, resting them on his horn, before smiling to himself.

He didn't need them as much as he let on. He had Seabreeze and the gang now, so he didn't think they were as important to wear as much now.

God, one could REALLY tell Skylar had horrible vision now, though. His eyes were incredibly cloudy, almost like a thunderstorm.

Still, he looked at the Sales Clerk after the transaction was over, and asked the same question as he did to Nurse Joy. "Do you know if there are any rare Pokemon around here in Highhill?"

~-~ TRAINING TIME! ~-~

"Alright team, it's time to get some training done!" Skylar announced to his company as the team got to an area with a noticeable amount of wild Pokemon (though, mainly Machops). "If we're gonna take on the league and continue this journey, we could stand to bolster our strength a bit more. Thankfully, we should be able to both find some new friends and decent sparring partners here at the same time!"

Skylar lifted JoJo and Seabreeze off his head, placing them onto the ground beside Celebrity and Paradise so he could address the whole team. "If any of you guys aren't feeling good enough to train after a little ways through this, it's okay to take a break and sit on the sidelines." Skylar smiled. "After all, I'd hate to see any of you guys get burnt out."

Skylar stood back up once more, a wide grin appearing on his face. "You guys ready?!"

"Gull!" "Jigglypuff!" "Tropi." "Rall!"

... and with the team in agreement, Skylar began to train. He'd also start searching for any of the rare or uncommon Pokemon Nurse Joy and the Clerk told him about, as well as any that he might not've heard about from them.

Eryn Montero

Wet Caverns || Day 3: Morning

The inside of the Wet Caverns was pretty much exactly what Eryn had been expecting. That is, it was cool, dark, wet, and had an abundance of—

“Dei, Ember that!” Eryn said, ducking as a Zubat narrowly missed her head.

Dei spat his Ember, singeing no less than two Zubat that were crowding in, and as soon as they fluttered off they were replaced by another three Zubat. Drawn to the Charmander like moths to a flame, the Zubat horde was illuminated by Dei’s fire, and Eryn was no short of horrified by their number. Would she find anything in this breeding ground of flying-type nuisances?

“Alright. Kylie, Eri, I’m going to return you two for now, since I can’t carry you all and I need Dei for light,” Eryn said, bending down to look into the water. “Tutu, you think you can manage some swimming?”

Tula wriggled.

“Right-o. In you go.”

Sliding Tula into the water, Eryn watched as the Magikarp disappeared under the surface briefly before resurfacing, staring up at Eryn.

“Awesome. C’mon back Kylie, Eri, upsy-daisy Dei, and—lemme get my shoes off—here we go!”

With her team safely in their Pokeballs and Dei in her arms, snorting smoke and flames to warn off any more adventurous Zubat, Eryn waded into the water, her backpack resting on her head and Dei perched on her shoulder. Balancing Dei’s weight between her arm and shoulder, she was happy to see that the Zubats seemed to be keeping somewhat of a distance, keeping Dei’s Embers in mind as they swerved the light he gave off. However, while most were smart enough to stay away, some still pushed closer, flapping obnoxiously close before veering away, their furs newly blackened.

Seeing a few drifting near the water, Eryn grinned. “Hey Tutu, wanna try taking down a Zubat or two?”

Tula, for her credit, seemed to be trying to be as communicative as she could, opening and closing her mouth as she submerged herself into the water. Zubat fluttered by, wings skimming the water to no more than some light disturbances under the surface as Tula performed some warm-up Splashes, but soon enough, Tula managed to land a hit on an unlucky Zubat taking too big of a risk for its own good.

“Good job, Tutu! Keep it up!” Eryn cheered, not caring that Tula probably wouldn’t hear her underwater. Now that Tula was taken care of, Eryn could continue heading into the watery cavern. The water had to flow somewhere, after all, and Eryn figured she might as well see where. Besides, she was near a lake, right?

Dawkin withheld a sigh with some effort. He'd liked the idea of hanging onto it but couldn't bring himself to deny Oscar's request. "Of course." He said, forcing a polite smile as he handed the staff over. "Abra would be the better choice, let's get going." Once again Dawkin saw fit to let Amelia handle the ghosts and merely watched in case his help was needed. This whole event had been really crazy and Amelia's ghost prowess had been undeniably impressive, it made Dawkin a little jealous really.

Picking out the egg, Erza’d notice something. Didn’t it seem just a bit closer to hatching? He wouldn’t be sure what were the signs that told him so, but it sure felt like it.

So, Erza moved on to combat opposing Pokémon. However, there was something he quickly discovered.

Pokémon on this route is somewhat higher level than he is.

Poochyena VS Hunter. Poochyena started with a Sand-Attack, but Hunter had no trouble blasting the beast with an Ember through the sand. Poochyena ran in to bite, though Hunter could get in another Ember before then… but yikes, Poochyena’s Bite hurt! Another exchange of Ember and Bite left both Pokémon pretty beaten up. Hunter has about 18% health left. That’s when Erza lobbed a Pokéball, which hit the Poochyena and it rolled on the ground.

The ball rolled once. Then it rolled twice. And it rolled thriiiiice…!

Second battle! So, Erza threw out Castform to battle Vulpix. Vulpix realized she was being drawn into battle… and called out into the air, suddenly summoning a powerful sunlight to the battlefield! … Which meant Castform suddenly transformed into his Fire-type form!

Noticeable Ability: Drought. Summons a harsh sunlight into battle.

This harsh sunlight decreased the power of Castform’s Water Guns… but it also meant that when Vulpix attempted to Ember him, it was Not Very Effective and Castform could just absorb the flames. Two Water Guns later, and Vulpix was in a bad shape while Castform was still lively in the flames. A Pokéball was thrown, hitting Vulpix and absorbing the Pokémon into it. Castorm has about 45% health left.

The ball rolled once. It rolled twice. It rolled thri-

Thirdly. Mareep VS Extraordinary. Erza guessed correct, his Duskull took a single- very painful -Thundershock that could then be Disabled. After that, Extraordinary Night Shaded over and over while Mareep panicked. The Mareep did shoot a Thunder Wave, paralyzing Extraordinary, but the Duskull showed no signs of that keeping her from Night Shading. Mareep used Cotton Spore and Growl to reduce Extraordinary’s speed and attack, neither influenced her Night Shade. Finally, upon the turn where Disable would be undone, Erza threw a Pokéball at the sheep. Extraordinary is at about 57% health.

It rolled on-

Now, Princess VS a Budew! … It wasn’t much of a match, especially since Budew rolled a 1 on the “what level are you” roll. Suffice to say, Budew attempted to Absorb on Princess, didn’t work, Princess made short work of the little plant and Erza could easily catch the Pokémon with a quick throw of a Pokéball. Princess is at 91% health.

The ball ro-

Now, then. Finally, Vee and this female Eevee Vee managed to track down. The attempt to convince the other Pokémon ended in failure, albeit Eevee did seem pretty curious about Vee. So, a battle it was. The Wild Eevee started by Baby-Doll Eyeing, reducing Vee’s attack, but the opposing Eevee lacked Vee’s Adaptability, and so in the ensuing battle of tackles Vee held the advantage. However, the wild Eevee had more experience, turning things into a decently evenly match. But, his time with a trainer pulled through, and Vee turned to be the more skilled Pokémon in the end, the wild Eevee looking more tired than him when Erza threw the Pokéball.

The Eevee was absorbed into the ball, which then fell to the ground. Vee has about 27% health left.

It rolled once. It rolled twice. It rolled thri-

Connected areas:
Route 11. To the south is the somewhat rainy route that connects to Rainrock and Redcoast City.
Pokéball Factory. A robust building that probably produced the balls in your bag right now.
Travel Outpost. A dock and a meeting place for those who wish to travel over Fairsea waters.
Bigfjord City. At the end of Route 12, seaside, rises a grand, corporate city with large, black buildings…
Route 13. A somewhat electrically charged route by the Power Plant, leading on to Worldedge City.

Claire dashed forth in the streets of Worldedge City, with quite a population wandering about that she needed to mind. She quickly opted to head for the more bustling Commercial District rather than the quieter Information District, and so (I’ll assume) paid the necessary 350P for teleportation to the other side. There, she found herself surrounded by so many shops and places with customers flocking towards the various places, but there was one place that stood out above all else. It was also where Claire was heading next.

Here was the Worldedge Department Store.

There’s clothing stores around, too, of course, but the GM is frankly not very good at clothes, as such, feel free to decide what kinds of clothes Claire could find for herself yourself for 2,000P, if so desired.

So. What’s Claire interested in, now?

Connected areas:
Route 10. South of Worldedge. A farmland employing multiple psychic Pokémon from Mt. Edge to help with the crops.
Route 13. West of Worldedge. A slightly disturbed route, which attracts electric Pokémon due to the proximity of the power plant.
Mt. Edge. The mystical mountain at the heart of Worldedge’s unnatural existence. Few people actually cross its fabled tunnels, most just teleport past.
Route 18. East of Worldedge. A calm stretch of land going from Worldedge to Witchpeak, part of the Allmass Cycling Circuit.

Currently in the Commercial District.

'Hm. I think I’d like to check out Route 3 a bit. I have a bunch of Pokéballs already, and I think I need to get a bigger team. Rotom’s not exactly helping, after all. After that, maybe I’ll take on the Gym. Maybe. In any case, sure. We’ll meet by the Gym,' Vivia said, nodding to Skylar as they momentarily parted ways.

First he headed to the Pokémon Center, which had its own small crowd of people hanging out. Skylar headed to Nurse Joy, who-

However, after that, Skylar asked about rare Pokémon around here.

‘Around Highhill? There’s more outside Highhill than inside, but if you look into the trees and bushes you could find some Karrablasts and Shelmets that other trainers might have missed!’

‘You can find the occasional Bulbasaur on Route 1, if you look reeeaaal closely,’ another trainer close by inserted, just because he overheard. He then moved on.

After that, Skylar went to the Pokémart, and bought himself 10 Pokéballs. He gets a Premiere Ball as a bonus. The clerk looked at him a bit in surprise at the question…

‘Um. Well, occasionally, you can fish up young dragons by the water-side… But we’re talking VERY rarely, and you probably need a Super Rod…’ the clerk replied to Skylar, looking a bit hesitant.

The only birds found in Highhill Town are Pidgeys, unfortunately. They’re commonly seen hunting whatever Caterpies are found nearby.

Pokédex Entry #16 – Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. They are docile Pokémon that avoid fighting, kicking up sand in an enemy’s face or using Whirlwind to avoid battles. They have sharp senses of direction, capable of finding their nest or destination from very large distances. They inhabit tall grass where they search and prey on small bugs.

Pokédex Entry #10 – Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon. It has a great appetite and eats green leaves larger than itself. Its feet has suction cups allowing it to climb on any surface. If attacked, it can release a stench from its antenna to ward off attackers. It is known to grow fast, and will create a cocoon out of silk for itself to evolve.

The reason for the local Machop and Timburr population is that Highhill Town requires plenty of work with the crops surrounding the town, and these strong though low-leveled wild Fighting-types are more than happy to help, be it with plowing or carrying the results! The effort is its own reward! Now all are wild, but quite a few are, and willing to take on a trainer!

Pokédex Entry #66 – Machop, the Superpower Pokémon. A Machop is built up by a special muscle, which despite its size makes it stronger than 100 humans and will never tire no matter how much it strains itself. This combined with their general availability makes them a common choice for helping humans with manual labours.

Pokédex Entry #532 – Timburr, the Muscular Pokémon. They make habits of training themselves by carrying square logs and wielding them as weapons. They’re know to appear at construction sites and helping with the carrying. They pick bigger logs as they get stronger, and when they can handle any log without problem, they’re close to evolving.

Other than that, if Skylar followed the instructions of Nurse Joy and the Pokémart clerk, he could find Karrablasts and Shelmets in the trees or under rocks or in pools of water near the edge of Route 3 or by the shoreline of Dragon Lake.

Pokédex Entry #588 – Karrablast, the Clamping Pokémon. They live in fields and forests, hiding in tall grass or trees. When threatened, they’re known to spit acidic liquid to drive attackers away. If bathed in electricity together with a Shelmet, both will evolve.

Pokédex Entry #616 – Shelmet, the Snail Pokémon. Commonly found in bogs or similarly wet areas. It closes its shell to protect itself from attacks. It also produces and spits out a poisonous, sticky liquid. If bathed in electricity together with a Karrablast, both will evolve.

And that’s about what he’d find here. He wouldn’t find any dragons searching like this, so yes.

Now. Training.

Seabreeze has no trouble against any present Pokémon. He’s more than capable of handling all the bugs and all the fighting-types. He got stronger.

Seabreeze grew to Level 10!

Paradise would have some trouble with the two latter bugs, due to Grass-typing. Not because of bug-moves, though, but because Karrablast knows Peck and Shelmet knows Acid. That said, Paradise was more than capable of Gusting the fighting-types present. It went well.

Paradise grew to Level 10! Paradise learned Stomp!

JoJo didn’t have much trouble either, at least against Fighting-types. Fairy-type prevented any bugs trying to prey on the Psychic-type, as well, so that went well.

Jonathan grew to Level 11! Jonathan learned Disarming Voice!

Finally, Celebrity, also Fairy-type. What are you, an anti-Fighting-type team? That said, Celebrity is part normal-type, hence takes neutral damage from Fighting-type moves. She’d have the greatest difficulty training here, but honestly, with Sing at her side that was pretty easy, too.

Celebrity grew to Level 10!

There, some training done. What now?

Connected areas:
Route 1. To the south, is the common route of first journeys. Green and straight.
Route 3. To the north, the route to Rainrock or the Silent Shrine. A wet woodland.
Route 14. To the east, the lake known as the Dragon Lake, potentially for crossing.
Path to Silent Shrine. To the west, the Silent Forest and the path to the shrine within.

“Wriggled” is my new favorite word.

The Zubats continued to circle Eryn as she headed into the waters and became the typical traveller that one imagines heading through Wet Caverns, wading through water while fending off Zubats. Eryn in particular did this through the Embers of Dei and, when they came too close, the Struggles of Tula. It should however be noted that Tula was taking a considerable amount of damage from her own Struggles like this, but perhaps that was needed in order to keep the Zubats away.

Under the waters, some other fish were swimming. They were white, red, moderately large and with not insignificantly sized horns.

Pokédex Entry #118 – Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokémon. With its fins flowing elegantly in the water like an underwater dress, it has been called the Water Queen. However, take heed, as it’s known to ram its powerful horn into things in its way. It swims up rivers in schools when the weather grows warm.

Also drifting about or sleeping on the bottom of the waters was a couple blue spherical heads belonging to some other form of Pokémon that feels at home in the fresh-water of Wet Caverns. Eryn might step on one if she wasn’t careful.

Pokédex Entry #194 – Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. It lives in cold water, sleeping on the bottom and seeking food by the shore when it's cold. When walking above water, wild Woopers cover their bodies with a slimy, poisonous film that keeps them from dehydrating. It's slightly dull-witted.

Moving ahead, the path split into multiple paths. From what she could see, she had two immediate choices, though up ahead one of those choices almost immediately split into three others.

The river itself continued to the left. If she just followed it, she could see where the river went. She seemed to be able to hear voices in that direction? Chances were, if she went that way she wouldn’t be alone.

To the right was a shore which she could wander up upon and then wander onwards to where the path split into three paths again. To the left there was a slight descent into a rocky tunnel, with plenty of sounds. Sounds of rocks rolling about and knocking into each other…?

Straight ahead in that split led to a shallow stretch of water which was populated mostly by a crowd of small water-insects, dashing over the surface in search for algae to feed on. It wasn’t clear where the tunnel went, for there was a steep descent in the end of the tunnel.

Pokédex Entry #283 – Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokémon. Found on lakes or in puddles after evening downpours, feeding on microorganisms. It secretes an oil from its feet that enable it to move on water as if skating. When endangered, it secretes a sweet fluid from its head.

To the right there was another descent down to more water, a lake of unmoving water presenting itself, and… what appeared to be light from some form of light-source? Really looked like sunlight, but as far as Eryn knew, she shouldn’t be out just yet.

Zubats are still hounding her. Some Zubats definitely tried to swoop in to Leech Life at Dei as she held him on her shoulders, as he was the most obvious target. What would Eryn do?

‘… Yeah, sure, I said something alike to that,’ Roderick figures that sounds good enough.

Oscar looked happy enough as dawkin handed back the staff to him.

‘Thank you. Your compassion shall not go unrewarded,’ Oscar plainly said, before handing something back to Dawkin.

Dawkin obtained Team Virtue Emergency Code!

‘Call the Team Virtue Emergency Code, and you will be taken seriously by the whole organization of Team Virtue, once. You can count on our assistance,’ Oscar told. ‘Oh, and here,’

Dawkin obtained Lunar Wing!

‘In case you run into her again. She tends to be more benevolent against those holding one of these feathers. They also guarantee pleasant dreams,’ Oscar explained.

Meanwhile.

‘I am Darcie, of Worldedge City. My father investigates haunted areas, and I scan them. If you commonly examine places like this, we may meet again,’ the girl replied to Amelia, giving her a bow that almost made her Abra fall off her shoulder.

Then, teleported over to the entrance.

Oscar did his thing with the Team Virtue members, while Amelia addressed the ghosts.

‘Hm. This seems to be the case. Anton, Jonas, grunts! Retreat, back to base!’ Ivory commanded, making a wave with her hand to the rest of the forces.

‘Rrgh! I was sent out all the way here, just for this!?’ asked an obviously frustrated Anton, who nonetheless complied.

‘Now, now, don’t be like that! If things had gone badly, your presence might have saved us!’ Jonas tried to encourage his fellow elite, who wasn’t really having it. Now, Virtue was mostly stopping, while Amelia said her piece to the ghosts of Old Tombs.

‘Aegislash…’ the Aegislash commented, as the Goletts and the rest of his forces halted their advances. The boy which he’d been using to talk walked to stand at his side.

‘I sense a change in the winds. You succeeded with something, did you not? Impressive…’ Aegislash’s boy commented… before the boy suddenly blinked and fell, dazed but suddenly aware. ‘Huh? I was…’

‘AEGISLASH!’ Aegislash commanded out, and the ghost-army turned on the spot, advancing back into the tomb. This left the boy lying there on the ground, considerably confused. Then, as they wandered in, more and more ghosts started stumbling to a bit, as Aegislash revoked his control over them, the ghosts regaining their normal wild status as soon as they were back within the tomb.

‘… Cofa.’ ‘… Gengar.’ Meanwhile, Cofagrigus, Gengar and their more wild forces were standing watching by the side, mostly just disappointed they weren’t allowed to fight more. However, it would seem that the current quest was over.

… That’s when a couple Yamasks flew over to Amelia and Dawkin. They were exceedingly grateful. Something terrible had been going on, and it was now resolved. The Yamasks were carrying something between them, which they now offered to Amelia and Dawkin. One to each of them. A treasure from deep within the Old Tombs…

Amelia obtained Relic Gold!
Dawkin obtained Relic Gold!

… Then a big Golurk came walking towards Amelia. It stopped right in front of her, behind which Aegislash hovered after having gotten the ghost-army back into the tombs. And, due to the need to communicate, he’s going to temporarily take over the poor boy over there again.

‘We and our master was not the only things that were freed when that woman damaged the seal. This, which we do not know what it is, had been sealed down there with us. We do not know its purpose. We’re handing it to you, as thanks for your services this day.’

With that, Golurk handed something over to Amelia…

Amelia obtained Mysterious Orb!

… That’s about it. What will Amelia and Dawkin do no-

‘DRIFLOON GIRL!’ suddenly a voice called out. Amelia would find that Jonas dashed towards her, Vanillite following frenetically behind before Jonas basically crashed at her feet with head into the ground. ‘I’m so happy you’re safe and not kidnapped into a faraway land never to be seen again! I work every day to ensure incidents like the one we went through before can be avoided! I apologize for any and all discomfort I caused you, but I really, REALLY was just trying to save you from that Drifloon…!’ … So the kneeling man was saying to Amelia.

Anyways. He can be totally ignored. What will Dawkin and Amelia do?

"Alright, we're making some solid progress!" Skylar cheerily said as he looked at all of his team, with Celebrity just finishing a battle with a Timburr. The Timburr was a bit saddened by the battle, but with Skylar giving him a thumbs up, the Timburr ran off happily. A lot of the Pokemon around here were really good sports about losing, which was a relief. The last thing Skylar needed was some Timburr running up and trying to hurt him for having a solid few friends. "Everyone doing okay?"

"Wingull!" Seabreeze cawed out in response, leaping off Skylar's head and flapping around for a moment before returning to the blind kid's hair. He was feeling fine indeed!

Celebrity was next, and was busy laughing off a victory. "Puff puff puff!" Of course, Skylar patted her hard on the head, more or less scolding her for being kinda rude to the Timburr that just lost. Being a sore winner was just as bad as being a sore loser!

Paradise was calm, like always. Though, it might've been conclusive that she was watching out for any ambushing Timburr or Machop. Though, she did nod to respond to Skylar, returning quickly after to watch for any ambushers.

Lastly, JoJo was just happy. He giggled a tiny bit at Celebrity getting scolded, and teleported over to Skylar's shoulder and sat back down on it, looking out for the next battles that'd come Skylar's way.

"Well, since we're all at some pretty respectable levels, we're probably ready to go and see the Gym and try to take it on." Skylar noted, though he did look towards the docks. He could barely make out the murky reds against the blue water backdrop. He thought back to what the Store Clerk told him when he asked about rare Pokemon, and remembered the thing about the young dragons by the waterside. Of course, Skylar had no rod, but maybe someone down there would be willing to loan him one? He wouldn't know unless he asked.

Skylar pressed his fist in his hand and started walking towards the docks. "C'mon team. Let's go see if we can find some new friends."

As Skylar walked, he would certainly keep looking for any rare Pokemon that he hadn't seen yet in Highhill, or the vague outlines of them anyway. He was still on the hunt for them. If any Pokemon challenged him on his path, as well, he'd gladly stop to fight them and get some more experience for the team.

Once at the docks, Skylar would start asking around, seeing if he could borrow a fishing rod from anyone so he could attempt to catch the rare young dragon that he was rumored about. If not, it would be alright, and he'd probably just go back to training his team up some more, as well as continuing his hunt for any rare Pokemon.

Skylar didn’t find any more rare Pokémon on the way. He did find more of what he had already found, however, so some more training it was.

Seabreeze grew to level 11!
Paradise grew to level 11!
Celebrity grew to level 11! Celebrity learned Disarming Voice!

Just to balance things out.

So, Skylar headed down to the docks of Highhill Town. Doing so, he really left the town proper. Here, he could look out over the lake, and grasp an area that’s counted as a separate route entirely.

Ahhh, where should she start? There were so many floors! So many things! Aaaargh, she almost wanted to call her parents to buy out the whole store but ow her pride. Okay, she had plenty of pokeballs, and she was pretty certain she was stocked up on potions and stuff for now. Wasn't like she was gonna be needing any anytime soon, except for emergencies or doing some hardcore training. Proteins? TMs? Waaaay out of her price range. In fact, she was quickly realizing one, painful, reality shattering truth.

She was basically broke.

"Ahhh, man, not having money sucks..." Ralia patted her head as Claire walked through the various isles and shops of the department store. She'd have to agree with that conversation she overheard. Everything was expensive. But then, she still technically was a noob trainer so it was to be expected. Didn't mean she was happy about it though. She'd hold off on the stones and more expensive stuff for now, then, until she had more money to her name. "Well we got 10,000P and a dream, girl. What ya think we should get?"

Ralia held a hand to her chin, thinking quietly to herself for a second before grabbing the top of Claire's head and turning her attention towards a clothing store.

"...you just want me to buy you something don't you?"

"Rrrall~"

Claire started with the clothing stores, trying on a variety of clothes, doing an impromptu fashion show with Ralia, Ritz, and Pip being the judges of the new clothes. A an hour or so later, she walked out with a handful of new outfits, and a bow tied around Ralia's horn. After that, she headed to the Trainers Market. Escape Rope, five super potions, and one more revive. A fresh water from the vending machine, and then finally back down on the first floor and headed out.

Were those Lottery tickets?

She bought three lottery tickets.
