This might be the strangest idea I've come up with yet.
Well...maybe not THE strangest.
But its up there.
As always, questions, comments, concerns, bring them up. I'll work with you to make sure my character fit in your story.
"My true name, is unpronounceable in this language. This is but a close approximation."
• Name:
Mako
(Child-who-seeks-False-Truth-by-its-Tails is a more descriptive version.)
"I'm proud of what I am. Can you say the same?"
• Monster Type:
Kitsune
"I gave myself a much easier name for humans to remember."
• Human Name:
Akane Yurei
"Oh, just a few centuries. Or so. Who's counting?"
• Age:
Most often seen in a human form roughly in the thirties.
• Class: Tactical Agent
"Such fun toys humans make! They can be so clever with their hands."
• Weapons:
Kogitsune-maru - A short red and orange Vibro-Katana. Designated: Vulcan Conducting Oscillator (VCO)-16, she didn't think that name was cute enough so she re-christened it Kogitsune-maru. It is designed to utilize the heat already produced by the vibrations to overheat, able to reach extreme temperatures. Clever machinations make it capable of emitting blasts of fire with a swing. The handle is, of course, insulated. The sheath also functions as a firearm.
K.I.T.S.U.N.E (Knowledge Integrating Tactical Sight and Universal Navigation Equipment) Mask - Made with top-of-the-line tech, this incongruous-seeming red and white fox mask packs a lot of tech in a small package.
Its pimary functions are twofold: first it is able to project holograms of the wearer's choosing. They can render themselves invisible, be cloaked in shadow or mist, seem be in multiple places at once, or a different location entirely. It can produce flashes of light, loud noises, even produce or cover heat signatures and smells.
Secondly, the mask has build in sensory tech, enhancing or filtering the wearer’s sight, hearing, and smell. Able to provide modes to filter out bright light, see in the dark, provide heat vision, and scanning capabilities including radar. However, it provides no direct defensive or mobility abilities, and the mask itself is on the fragile side.
She had the mask made so that use of her own illusions would easily be put down to the mask's doing.
"Toys are fun, but a Kitsune's magic is in her blood. Such things are second nature."
• Special Abilities:
Powerful Illusions - Kitsune are capable of weaving illusions that fool every sense, even touch. Their only limitations are that they do not create anything that is solid or real. It would take superhuman senses to see through them. They can be projected into the mind, only visible to those affected, or cast into the physical world for anyone to see.
Psychic Abilities - Kitsune said to be able to look into the minds and hearts of those around them. This ability, normally used to communicate with each other, is especially effective on humans. It gives them a powerful passive insight. Individual thoughts are hard to discern at a distance, but emotions, especially strong ones, are laid bare before them. This makes it difficult to lie to one or hide one's intentions. This has a rough radius of ten meters or so. Deeper reading requires close proximity to physical contact. The highest level of this is to actually posses the target, also giving access to all their memories as if they were her own. But this takes both physical contact and time. Specifically, it will take a full minute of uninterrupted contact. Any loss of contact will interrupt it, forcing them to start over. Intimate contact works best, shortening the time required to thirty seconds. It lasts for roughly ten minutes, though can be as short as five, if the original soul is strong enough. Afterwards, one is unable to repossess that same individual for twenty-four hours.
Fox Fire - The mythical energy of Kitsune. Much like the nature of Kitsune, its a fickle power prone to seethes and surges. Contrary to its name, its not actually a type of fire, but many of its effects appear with fire. Its main use is to warp natural forces to the will of the Kitsune, be it fire, earth, weather, or even concepts like light or gravity. But they use it only as a last resort when trickery and deceit fail.
As a note: Among kaiju with enough intelligence to take a human form, Kitsune are especially adapt, able to shift at will into any nearly any form, gender, age, or appearance. They can perfectly copy someone else or create a completely unique look.
"Oh, the trinkets collected over a m--er few decades of life."
• Inventory: In human form, she always carries a kitsune mask on her person. She also has a beautiful jewel that she treasures. She has a full set of Tactical Agent gear; grappling hooks, a set of medium armor (nothing special), and a brace of firearms. However, she detests the armor and rarely wears it.
"Oh, very well. A trip down memory lane. Be sure not to get lost."
• Background:
Mako was always a curious one. From the time she could walk, she ran her mother around in circles trying to keep track of her. That never changed as she matured. But one day, there appeared a rift. A tear in space and time. She felt drawn to it. She drew close to it. Then, with a rush of wind, she fell through it.
It was the result of an Warp Quake, early in humanity's history.
Soon after, she came into contact with the creatures called 'humans'. She was immediately entranced, fascinated, captivated by them, obsessed with them. Their quirks and foibles. Their tendencies to accomplish great good and great evil. Their tendencies to fear what they do not know, to worship things greater then themselves. To love, lust, hate, enjoy, be happy, to be sad. To live such short lives yet do so much with them.
Humanity, she decided, was infinitely entertaining.
The young kitsune quickly learned to walk among them. She learned their ways, their languages. She spent centuries trying to understand them, sometimes through simple talk, but more often by manipulating them or circumstances around them, pushing them to the brink and back again. Every time she thought she had them figured out, some action or word would surprise her, and she'd remember why she loved them so much.
There was one man, however, who claimed her heart. And it was because of that love that many misfortunes befell them both.
Many years passed, and during them, she traveled the world. Warp Quakes were becoming more common, more kaiju appeared. She even saw fellow kitsune on rare occasions. She watched, always fascinated as humanity began to change, as it always does, to face this new threat. Adapt and overcome. She caught wind of the formation of an organization being made to fight these invaders. Deciding she wanted a front row seat to this great change, and realizing she could be in danger herself, she was able to gain membership in the guise of a young girl early in it's formation.
Twenty years passed quickly as she gradually rose in rank in the Monster Federation Force. She even pretended to age, as to not arouse suspicion. According to her nature, on occasion she help them achieve their goals, and other times, she secretly hindered them. She bore other monsters no ill will, even feeling a type of kinship with some of them, but humanity she loved with a fierce passion, and decided that it must be preserved. She, as always keeps an ear to the ground, and in recent times, she has noticed something strange was going on. Reports that didn't add up. Events that seemed just a little suspect. With her ability to gain intel from both sides, she has begun to catch a glimpse of a bigger picture...
"What else? My, you are full of curiosity."
• Other:
Hates Dogs.
Loves Sweets and Fried Food.
Loves Festivals.
Is exceptionally evasive about her age.
Is very wealthy.
Skilled marksman and swordsman.
Plays violin, something she picked up while traveling the world.
She collects bells.
Hobbies also include people-watching and messing with people.
Well...maybe not THE strangest.
But its up there.
