I'll have a CS up between tonight and tomorrow morning. at some point before the week's end.

Just have too much concepts rolling in my head, right now, to settle on one, and zero drive to start settling. I'm just exhausted, right now.

There's no rush to make characters yet, guys. :P
On the topic though, I'd like to clarify something about the stats.

Vitality directly correlates to how much HP you have. The higher your VIT rank, the higher your overall HP.
Likewise, Intellect determines how much MP you have. The more INT, the more MP. All spells, or special abilities/moves/skills that aren't just a variant of a basic attack, cost MP.
I'm not going to set any rules or restrictions on how HP and MP works provided everyone plays fairly. I don't wanna hafta slap numbers and things like in-story post-cooldowns on skills just because someone with E-rank INt decided it'd be perfectly feasible to throw fireballs that blow up ina 30 ft radius one after another without pause...
In addition, the stats are not the same as in the 'Fate'-series. Ergo, there are no +/- modifiers to stats. You either have 'B' or 'A' in a stat, not 'B+' or 'A-'.
Finally, I know I mentioned somewhere that your characters' stats can change, but please keep in mind that for the most part, they won't. Most likely, you'll be able to raise you dominant stat in some way or another, but overall, you're not going to end up with 'A'-ranks in all of your stats, even if you hit level 100+.

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, just wanted to clear this up for the sake of avoiding making a fuss about it later.

@Xaltwind I was actually wondering about skills :)

For purely combat oriented characters. Will their "skills" be more in line with basically any attack that has a particular effect when performed?

So what I am wondering is if my character has an understanding of pressure points, and they can strike those areas; would that be considered a skill? Like "pressure point strike" or something?

That would depend on what striking the pressure points achieve mechanically.
If it's just "does [some %] extra damage", then it would be a passive.
However, if it's something like outright paralyzing, stunning or disabling someone, causing them to suffer diarrahea or vomit or go completely numb, then that would be considered an active skill.

Bascailly, any combat skill with a particular effect, or that has a notable impact on the target/area it is used on/in, is an active skill. All active skills cost MP.

For example, in the case of a pure fight.

Something likethis would all be considered 'active skills':

Explosive Punch: Infuses your fist with fiery fury and, upon striking someone or something, unleashes a blast of explosive flames that both knocks the target back and deals physical and fire damage.

Stunning Palm: You strike an enemy with a well-placed, high-precision palm-strike that makes them flinch and become momentarily defenselss for a short time. Doesn't do a lot of damage but leaves the opponent open for successive, undefended beatings.

Sleeper Chop: With a carefully aimed chop, you strike a vital area of your enemy, causing them to collapse into a heap on the ground, fainted and useless. This skill only works against opponents' with exposed vitals though and is useless against heavily armored targets.

Jewelbuster: An inelegant attack where you punt a male enemy's crotch. Despite the outrageously low and dirty feeling you're left with afterwards, none can deny the efficacy of this attack, as it leaves the target writhing and helpless on the ground. Only works against male humanoids with no, or very weak, lower-body armor.

I hope this helps. Otherwise, I'll try to explain it ... Better, I guess? xD

@Xaltwind Hey there! Saw this Int. Check and decided to drop by and ask some questions as least! If you don't mind, of course. :D

1. Is there an age preference on characters? For example: Should all characters be 16-20 year old at minimum, or would an 8-10 year old with a special class or useful ability like clairvoyance be usable as the token/adorable "daughter" character?

2. While things like devils/demons and angels aren't playable, what about humans or proper playable humanoids descended from such bloodlines? They wouldn't likely be like a half angel or half demon, unless you noted such being feasible, though the idea is that people bred with other beings to acquire special abilities or traits in their particular Human (Mixed-Blood) bloodline.

3. Stat-wise, can characters be somewhat or highly specialized? Not as a power gaming move, since they aren't from the game. I mean more something like a character who is very weak in most areas, but has inherited powerful wisdom or high INT due to a special trait or highly focused/strange upbringing sorta deal.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to hear back from you soon! And whether I join or not, I hope this fun-sounding concept goes far as an RP! :)

Like those before me, I too shall steal the setup of someone who already made a really cool sheet template!

Is Thievery (lockpicking, pickpocketing) an acceptable profession? Or would you rather it be something else? (If something else, I would probably go with 'Cobbling.')

And I apologize if the sheet got a little long. I was actually going to make her a priestess at first (I had a great picture for it), but then I thought of Frog from Chrono Trigger and decided to put my own spin on the trope.

I was also unsure what sort of stats to give the character. I hope it all seems okay!

Hello and welcome. I don't mind answering questions at all, that's why this Int.Chk exists after all.

1. There is no age-restriction. If you wanna be a 4 year old toddler who can barely walk and talk, or a 95 year old, senile dementia-case granny, that's fine by me. Just keep in mind that if you play character who is obviously going to be inferior in terms of physique and mental-faculties, your stats will need to reflect that. No way in pepperoni-hell am I going to accept a 10 year old with A-rank STR, VIT and WIS... xD

2. This question has already been answered earlier. Things like Aasimar (humans with celestial blood), Tiefelings (humans with demonic/devil-blood) or other similar distant relatives of other-worlders are fine. Things like outright Half-Devas or Half-Fiends are no allowed though. But yes, people with the bloodline of angels, dmeons, planars or elementals are fine, as long as they're not half-or-quarter-breeds.

3. You can spec your stats however you want, I'm not forcing anyone to spread them out. If you wanna go all in and have S-rank in WIS, but F in everything else, that's up to you. There're no stat points or regulations on a set 'average', all I ask is that people think about their character and set stats that are appropriate. If you're a bookworm who just sits at a desk and reads all day, maybe you shouldn't have -Srank VIT or A-rank DEX... If you're a barbarian who was born into a nomadic tribe that lives by foraging and hunting, maybe you shouldn't have A-rank INT or B-rank CHA... But, it's all up to each one of you in the end.

... Unless I think you're being unreasonable, in which case I'll give you the nope-card.

@Reia, @EROde
I'll have a look later, but I likely won't say too much. As I've said, the OOC willb e up tomorrow or this weekend, and I'd recommend you read through all the details and specifics in that before you finalize your characters. Who knows? There might be somehting unexpected or contradictory that you didn't see coming? I doubt it very much, but you never know!

EDIT:

Oh, and regarding Thievery as a profession. It's infe. Though it does beg the question what point there is in making a Thief or Rogue if their primary function and skills can be used by any other class as a sub-vocation... But I'm not gonna sit here and nit-pick about things like that. If you want to be a Warrior-Bard with Sticky Fingers, then go for it. :P

Nah, that's a good point. I'll change the character's Profession to Cobbling and say she gave up a life of thievery already (class change).

Oh, hey @Xaltwind - I only have one big question myself.

While I'd prefer my character be permanently stuck looking like a small mouse person (as currently described), I'm not sure if that counts for the 'no monsters' rule. So, if necessary, I can adjust her story and sheet such that she can turn back and forth from looking like a Littleling to looking like a Weremouse.

Would you rather she switch back and forth, or does it seem kosher if she stays trapped in cheese-craving form?

@Reia
When I say "no monsters", I generally mean larger or more powerful beings. Things like shapeshifting dragons, arachnee/driders, lamia/gorgons, ancient vampires, etc. While something like a werewolf might be bordering on the very edge of what I'd allow, a weremouse is - I assume - a rather 'weak' type of lycanthrope, generally speaking of course. So I don't mind.
Just expect people to treat her rather poorly though - even if she is a chubby, adorable mouse-looking thing, jerks are still racist jerks. :P

EDIT:

Oh, and I also read through both Cecilia and Branwen's sheets. They look just fine to me. :)

And with THIS now finished, I do believe that this Interest Check has served its purpose and come to an end.

I hope to see anyone who's still interested in the official roleplay. :)
