Hey Xalt, to confirm, did any of Artemisia's spells do anything to the skeleton?

Oh! I just had a fun idea! If i may run it by here to be sure, of course.

The idea is a 'Hero' class, which is a true 'jack of all trades' at its core with an incredible potential variety of martial and magical skills they can learn. If it is a class that exists, the Hero can probably learn stuff from it. They also have great stat growths all-around.

BUT on the downsides the class lacks any possible specialization in terms of combat skills. In other words, they lack any specialized skills, future paths, passives, or even abilities otherwise to enhance martial or magical prowess. The lesser amount of unique skills or abilities this class gains are basically just focused on increasing their own survivability individually and working with others in groups/teams.

This literally means any specialist will be doing better than a Hero in the same field. A Warrior will be better in warrior abilities than they are. An Archer will be better in all Archer skills than a Hero can be. A Necromancer or other Arcane Mage might have special skills or abilities they gain as part of their class...but which the Hero cannot acquire due to not being of the same job class.

That sorta deal! :P

'Hero' is such an evocative name though...I think a jack-of-all-trades class is basically fine, but just calling that class a 'Hero' makes it mega-sketchy.

Also added to the collab. Cecilia's working overtime wew.

@ERode
They did, but obviously not enough to destroy the skeleton, as it's still chasing after her awkwardly.

@Crusader Lord
There already exists a class for that. It's called a bard. They can do fighting, magic, archery and thievery, but not as well as any of the other classes who are more focused on their respective job.

Honestly, though, your description of the 'Hero' class makes it sound like they're rather skilled and good at anything. It has no weaknesses or shortcomings other than not having access to the more specialized capabilities of the classses it mimics. Which isn't really a drawback when you can do everything well, to be honest. If you can't beat a warrior in a straight up fight, then just fling a spell at them. If you can't out-magic a mage, just shoot them down with a sneaky arrow. If you can't beat a fleet-footed fencer, smack'em with your shield bash.

I generally do not like, on a personal level, jack-of-all-trades characters, because they simply reject the concept of working together and being a part of a team. Which, in a roleplay scenario, is rather counter-intuitive. You're free to play one, of course, if that's what you want.

To offer a contrary viewpoint, I think the Hero class would be rather balanced, so long as they didn't also have ridiculous stat growth. Being able to counter your enemy only works if you're powerful enough to be effective with it.

Like, for example, a mage blasting a warrior is fine. Mages do big magical damage and all. But a Hero with substandard magic stats trying to do the same will just be rushed down by that same warrior, who can tank that amount of damage and then ragdoll 'em.

Could reword the class as 'Journeyman' or something. They have the ability to learn all sorts of skills, as a sorta trial run to figuring out what they really want to focus on, but because they're trying out all these things, they won't be as good in the future when they do focus on one thing they like, compared to someone who always knew what they wanted to train.

Noted! Heading to work in an hour, but will put aside that jack of all trades idea for now. Enchantress (or something) is the next thing i shall work on, fufufu! ....I hope this goes well. @_@

going by dragon quest rules, where we're at, he'd be at most a town hero

which is really just a handful of buffs/debuffs like bounce, holy protection, insulate, kabuff, kaclang, kasap, magic barrier, and oomph and a couple of slashes like flame, kacrackle, lightning, metal, and miracle.

Dragon Quest has the dumbest spell-names of any franchise. I still love it, but so dumb.

Just remember to give all the "Seed of"-items to the MC, they're the only character who needs'em!

The mc tends to be the only constant team member...the others get traded in and out as story dictates, or you get to do it in certain ones.

Who are the closest people to Misia besides the skeleton now, anyway?

I wanna say...Locke/Krenna should be the closest? With Glum/Cecilia being next in closeness.

Depends on how far from the initial location she's trotted, and in which direction. If she's moved towards the palace and tower, Cecilia and Glum are closest. If she's moved back towards the buildings and alleys, Locke and Krenna. If she's stayed relatively close to the center of the plaza, Hawklen, Annabelle and Ciel.

Ciel repositioned himself away from the all the fighting, so he's probably away from the center depending on how much time he had to withdraw.

Enemy Group:
- Glum is "Uninjured"
- Hawklen is "Uninjured"
- Krenna is now "Injured"
- Norbert is "Injured"

Team rag-tag:
- Annabelle is "Barely Injured"
- Artemisia is "Uninjured"
- Cecilia is now "Injured" and suffering from "Burn (DoT)"
- Ciel is "Injured"
- Locke is "Badly Injured"

Let's try and get this thing up before Sunday people, so we can movv on with the story. :)

EDIT:

And in case there are objectiosn or questions:

- Glum was walking towards Cecilia and had ample time to both see her kick Norbert's face and then do her spell aginst Krenna, before coming charging at him. Thus he was prepared.
- Hawklen is trying to use some of his bardic charm to sway Annabelle to his side.
- Hawklen also used a healing-spell on par with something like "Cure Moderate Wounds" on Krenna - this didn't heal her injuries, it just got rid of the protrusions and eased their severity a bit though.
- It seems some of you have discovered the correct order in which to fight the enemy team. keep up the good work.
