The ways of shinobi had always been founded in death and destruction. The musings of honor and love were landmarks in a journey that inevitably resulted in the slaughter of sons and daughters. So it was in the Warring States Period, before the rise of shinobi nations, and peace was a false pretense that would be used to hide the building of militaries and gathering of tailed beasts. Again a war would break out, a struggle for power, land, a chance to become gods, the desires of men all originated from a place of avarice. Peace again, and then war. The cycle was unending and would be perpetual, like the coming and going of a harsh winter.
A dense forest seemed like a place to hide away from the winters, and it was a great defense. A village grew, home to orphans, elderly and once-powerful figures that were weary of fighting and death. Peace found them in the natural fortress. For a time, they lived rather happily, even as the signs of war grew more frequent around them, and eventually their position seated between powerful foes brought swift destruction upon their happy lives.
The worst of the Second Shinobi World War was brought to an end through diplomacy between the largest hidden shinobi villages.
The grievances of the weak villages went unheard among the world leaders. Instead, civil unrest plagued the places between the powerful countries. In Kusagakure, a leader once praised for treading harmoniously between its seeds and flowers is lost and thus the balance tips as a new Kage rises, and a call for change sweeps the village into a new era.

Obviously this is set in the world created by Kishimoto and we have opted to loosely follow the cannon timeline mentioned in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. We will be exploring the shinobi world and all of its complexities through the perspective of up and coming shinobi from a war-ravaged village nestled between the Land of Earth and Land of Fire a couple of years after the end of the Second Shinobi World War.
There is an established endpoint for the first arc of the roleplay, but the journey is much more important than that destination. The emphasis of the roleplay will be placed on character interaction and development, and as such our admission process for characters/players will be "application-based" and understand we will review all characters and roleplayers with as much fairness as being human affords us, but ultimately have the right to reject anyone who we feel isn't fit for at least the first arc of the roleplay.

Follow rpg rules, duh. 18+, we'll be exploring mature themes. I don't really care how old you are, just don't be a little bitch. Quality over quantity, we're looking for depth here, not every single post is going to be epic and they aren't always going to be interesting, but they can 100% be meaningful in some type of way. There will not be a posting schedule, I want commitment above anything else. I don't want to encourage burnout by having a required weekly or bi-weekly deadline, and sometimes muse comes and goes so we're all going to be flexible with each other, if problems arise we'll deal with them. This sheet is a bit complicated, so if you need help please just ask me :). I can either help you understand or fix it if you have accidentally broken it. Please follow the sheet, though, as I worked really hard on it. For the most part, all you need to do is find and replace explanatory text.
⌈COLOR⌋
The red color ([color=4a634a]) is just a place holder for any color code you would like your ninja to have. Everywhere you see [color=4a634a], replace it with a color of your choosing. Other than those red codes, please leave the colors alone.
⌈HEADER⌋
The preview of the header will look bad until the kanji on both sides is filled in! On the left, you should place the "nindo" of your character written in kanji in descending order as to how kanji is actually written. Don't worry about the translation of it yet, that will come later in the sheet. On the right, in place of the words put the kanji for your character's name. The surname will go before the name. Each kanji will be placed on its own line - all you need to do is place the first one, hit enter, then the next kanji until its finished. To add a space between the kanji, please place [color=2e2c2c]-[/color] on its own line. Use the biggest picture you can, the sheet will size it down but it cannot size it up, which may cause the kanji to be off-center. In which case, I can still fix it if you tell me.
⌈ARSENAL⌋
This will probably be the most complicated part of the sheet. Where it says "jutsu 1/weapon 1, jutsu 2/weapon 2, jutsu 3/weapon 3" all you need to do is place the jutsu's or weapon's name. Then on the other side, write down the short description of what it is, use, and weakness. It doesn't have to be overly complicated. The complicated part is that the left doesn't automatically match up with the right; so for every additional line in the description, you will have to add a blank line after the name. On the filler lines, please place [color=2e2c2c]-[/color] just to keep it orderly.
Kage Bunshin no Jutsu is a Jonin level Ninjutsu technique. When Naruto stole the scroll of seals, he learned this technique as well. The normal Bunshin no Jutsu creates a copy of the ninja that lacks any substance. The Kage Bunshin distributes the ninja's chakra evenly among the clones and creates a real copy with form and substance. The clone itself can also utilize any Jutsu the original ninja knows. When the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. This makes Kage Bunshin an excellent training method if the ninja has the chakra capacity and stamina to maintain the Kage Bunshins for an extended period of time.

For the number of jutsu and weapons, you can add more than the three slots, I only started with three as an example. As you will play genin, you probably won't have most of the higher ranked tables filled up. Instead of leaving it as it is, once more replace empty slots with [color=2e2c2c]-[/color]. Canon jutsu will be added just as a custom jutsu would be, with explanation and all, but you may copy it from a wiki. This is so people will not have to keep looking up the entry in the wiki and to keep it nice and orderly. The weapons section is only for special weapons outside of kunai and shuriken.

This sheet is entirely optional and you do not have to do it if you do not want to. This is used for worldbuilding, but some of the parts do not come into the roleplay unless in passing. So if you want to put down useful things like clan members and kekkei genkai, but don't want to fill out the rest, then you do not have to.
Also, you will not be posting the clan sheet with your character in the character tab. Once it is finished, we will take the sheet and post it in an organized tab.
⌈HELP⌋
This sheet is even more complicated than the character sheet. Once again, if you need help, do not hesitate to ask me or any of my co-GMs. The entire sheet will look absolutely terrible until it is filled in, and even then there will need to be certain adjustments. If you are not comfortable making those adjustments, please just send it in. I would rather have to do it than fix it.
⌈COLOR⌋
The color is broken because I used question marks. Replace ([color=???]) as it is just a place holder for the color you would like to associate with your clan. This color does not necessarily need to match your character's. Everywhere you see [color=???], replace it with a color of your choosing. Other than those color codes, please leave the colors alone.
⌈HEADER⌋
The first image code will be the symbol of your clan. It should be at least 180x180 and transparent. If you cannot find something transparent, send what you want to me and I can make it transparent. Nothing else will need to be touched until you get to a place that asks for the clan motto. Fill in the clan motto, then underneath it fill in the clan name. Leave the ichizoku in, though. If there was to be a clan called Example, then it would say: "EXAMPLE ICHIZOKU"
⌈ORGANIZATION⌋
The organization of the tabs since they might get off-kilter.
ETYMOLOGY - Kanji of clan, motif, mon.
PEDIGREE - Distinction, prestige, genetics.
HEREDITY - Kekkei Genkai, hiden, speciality.
HERITAGE - Legacy, values, traditions, heirlooms.
LINEAGE - Organization, founder, current clan head.
ORIGIN - Creation, integration, presently.
⌈VAGUE QUESTIONS⌋
There are a couple of vague questions that you might not understand. Here are quick explanations, and if you have more to ask just ping me.
MOTIF - Motif stands for any conceptual themes you have for your clan, as that is very common in anime, but especially in Naruto. Themes can include colors, animals, food, or even more abstract things.
MON - Mon is the symbol of your clan. The question is just asking what the mon depicts, and the symbolization there.
DISTINCTION - Common physical appearances found in the clan. The Uchihas have dark hair, dark eyes, and pale skin. The Uzumakis have famous red hair, the Nara have brown hair and lazy eyes, etc etc.
PRESTIGE - The temperament of the clan, common personality traits shared. The Uzumakis have all been loud and determined, Uchihas somber and easily irritated, the Nara shrewd and lazy.
GENETICS - This will be traits often passed down in the clans that give their members a bit of an edge. Maybe they have a lot of sensors, or large chakra reserves, maybe very precise chakra control.

Add as many family members as you want, or give none. Here is a general template to follow based on what's already in the sheet:

Position in clan can be in relevance to a character (such as: EXAMPLO'S COUSIN), a position of power (such as: EXAMPLE COUNCIL MEMBER), or any important descriptor.

I'd like to run my clan concept by before I commit to writing everything down for it to make sure it's okay: The Surudo clan were nomad warriors from the land of steel who really didn't do ninjutsu and were caught in the cross-fire of the First Shinobi War. Soon after the war ended they became a clan in Kusagakure, but have become increasingly split down the middle in terms of supporting jitsu or hana. They'd mostly be bukijutsu (in particular use of senbon, wire strings and swords) practitioners and peacekeepers of some sort. Maybe internal police or auxiliary forces. Thoughts?

that idea sounds cool, go for it!
So for clans, there are noble clans and normal clans. Noble clans belong to the founders of Kusagakure while normal clans come about in normal ways lol. There are only 2 noble clans available to create. Your clan would fall under a normal one, since it is founded around the first shinobi war.
If you want to change that and make the founder be an orphan from the land of iron, you can totally be a noble clan if you want.
Also, our discord is set up, but we are going to wait to invite people until the final decision is made! feel free to chatter in the ooc though if you want to go over thoughts and stuff. ^-^
@fledermaus Thank you for the confirmation and such! I will be keeping Surudo a lower-class clan, it's important to my ideas of them. Could you help me with the hiragana however? I'm not sure how to translate 俊敏 and 敏 from kanji. (If they are even in kanji-- my Japanese is almost non-existent.)
Definitely interested! I really liked Naruto's earlier stuff, before it became about who could out-god-power one another, and I am a sucker for soft-canon fandom. Is it cool to drop WIP apps and tweak them or would you rather we fill out 100% before posting?
