Biography: Runa's family emigrated from Japan to Norway in the late eighteenth century. Her grandparents were the last in the family to be fluent in Japanese. Her family had intermarried with Norwegian ones, causing the family name to change to Johansson from Suzuki. Her mother never learned more than quick, conversational Japanese phrases - and Runa subsequently was not exposed to that portion of her heritage. The largest source of exposure she had was being enrolled in karate classes - though that was mainly as it was important to her mother that she be able to defend herself.

Anja-Yui Johansson was a florist and a free spirit. She met a handsome and kind man one winter - with a wave of his hand, all of her flowers returned to a full bloom, some of them in vivid colors she had never seen before. He never told her who he was and he didn't stay longer than that winter, though he had fathered a baby girl. Anja-Yui named her daughter Runa, an Old Norse name meaning mighty strength, as she suspected that her mysterious suitor must have been a god. A few years later, Anja-Yui married a baker.

Runa grew up with two caring and doting parents. Her step-father, much like her mother, was something of a hippie spiritualist. Her mother never told her who her father was and whenever Runa would ask, Anja-Yui would give her a sunflower. She eventually learned to just stop asking. While her home life was good, public school was a nightmare. The students hated Runa. They would tease her and steal her things, eventually escalating to hitting her and trying to rip her hair out. The teachers could never do anything to stop it. Runa ended up internalizing the bullying, falling into a severe depression in middle school that has hovered over her like a dark, gloomy cloud ever since.

In high school, her parents managed to begin home schooling her. She was curious about Wicca, wanting to learn more about the beliefs, and her step-father taught her. Her mother taught her science and genetics through botany. She would spend the summer evenings outside on a blanket, gazing up at the stars and trying to identify the constellations. Yet while her life had improved, the depression didn't just go away. It continued to eat away at her, a dark voice whispering in the night that she wasn't good enough, that no one could love her, that her father had abandoned her out of disgust, and things would be better if she didn't exist at all.

How Did You Get To Hotel Valhalla: It was a hot July day in Norway, with the beach more crowded than Runa would have cared for. People liked to stay out late to see the Midnight Sun. She had gotten a blanket and spread it out, enforcing her own little bit of territory, and letting herself read a book, listen to music, and enjoy the sunshine. People began to panic as a Vatnavaettir (water horse) attacked, drowning those who touched it. Runa saw the commotion and without thinking, she leapt up and grabbed the nearest weapon she could find - some kid's plastic toy lightsaber. She tried to attack the Vatnavaettir and save the beachgoers, but as she touched it, she became stuck. She drowned, plastic toy weapon in hand.

Biography

Dalisy was the oldest child in her sweet family. She was close to her sister, Niah, who was two years younger than her. The pair were the best of friends. Their father never explained who Dalisy's mother was, which made sense when Dalisy found out she didn't actually have a mother. Her childhood made it clear though that there was something special about her, and her sister. Their younger brother seemed to be completely normal. The child of their stepmother. Since Niah liked their new stepmother Dalisy accepted her into the family.

Even though Dalisy was seven years older than Niah they were close like best friends. However, there was always some tension between Dalisy and her father. Even though Niah trusted him, there was something that made Dalisy nervous. It might have been that he had somehow gathered the attention of two gods enough to have children with both, and Dalisy was aware of that since she had less control over her super-sense at the time.

The power grew as she did, but so did her control over it. She and Niah bonded over their strange abilities at a young age. Telling each other secrets. As the time approached for Dalisy to consider college she got frustrated. She didn't want to move so far away that Niah felt like she was being abandoned, but Dalisy was ready to set out for her own future. She had applied to dozens of great Geography schools and was accepted into Clark University. It was while on a trip to the school that she was killed.

There was some heavy confusion about two nearly identical bodies, but neither were identified and so her family was never notified in the Philipines, which is why to this day Niah still hopes her sister is alive.

How Did You Get To Hotel Valhalla:

Dalisy died fighting to protect herself, from...herself? As Dalisy tells it someone who looked like an older version of her showed up and asked if she wanted to join forces. She didn't particularly want to leave her sister and told this copy of herself just that. A fight ensued and Dalisy defended herself with an iron pipe she found. It was not enough. Dalisy was able to kill that version of herself, which she figures is what earned her into the Hotel.

Dalisy knows Niah believes she disappeared, but the truth would be much harder for her sister to process so she hadn't reached out to her, even though Niah has joined the Roman Camp Jupiter. Dalisy out of curiosity searched for herself across all the universes and was horrified at the carnage. She, while thankful she didn't join the other Dalisy's, is terrified of what that means about her future. Something invisible even to her.

Biography Growing up in the 12th century, life was pretty much all work and no play, especially out near the Baltic Sea. Not having much in the way of infrastructure, Elizabeth was, from a young age, taught how to take care of her home. There was always something to be done, either hunting to help help feed everyone, or helping to take care of the younger, or much older, members of their family. One thing that did bring a but of light into her life, however, was the ritual and worship of their gods. Though it varied who they prayed to, depending on what they needs, Elizabeth never felt more at peace when she was doing it. Communing with something bigger than herself provided a constant inner peace she needed.

As she reached her teenage years, she proved herself as an apt protector. From fending off larger predators that threatened to wreck them, to defending their home from those who would pillage and destroy them, Elizabeth was well suited as a warrior. Favoring the bow, she was a natural born archer, and many a bandit would find themselves dead before they even saw her. More than her aim, she knew how to become one with the environment, and track and kill like no other. Something about her just understood how to get inside the head of other creatures, which proved to be a boon as a huntress.

Reaching adulthood, Elizabeth was well respected in her community, and seen as the best of the next generation's leaders. Her ideas and thoughts mattered, and she learned how to take charge and direct other people to act in the best interests of everyone. Though she didn't have much time in this position before she died, it very much formed how she'd act in her afterlife. She learned that warriors may be able to make a difference in the moment, but there was something to be said for those who could affect more long term change.

How Did You Get To Hotel Valhalla: It came in the dead of night, her people were not ones to keep up on worldly matters, so they knew not the devastation that was coming their way. The people, acting as a ambassador of God's eternal love, had called for the eradication of her people. Accept the light of Jesus Christ, or meet Satan in Hell, was the offer giving to her people. They acted as all would, and tried to defend themselves, but were helpless compared to the overwhelming forces of the church. Elizabeth was on guard that night, and had fired the first shot after being given their ultimatum. In response, she was held down, and had her eyes gouged out in front of her people. With her last breaths, she tried to take down whatever monster stole her sight, swinging madly with the knife at her side, but she was quickly put down, and sent off to Valhalla.

Biography: Lara was born in the village of Giethoorn, a small canal based village, and she lived there for the first six years of her life. However, she had been left at a hospital, abandoned by her birth mother. She was adopted by a lovely couple, the Alderliestens, who had been unable to have children, and never treated Lara as anything other than their true daughter. Shortly after her sixth birthday, her parents moved them and herself to Amsterdam, as they were looking for better work opportunities in the big city. However at this time, the world was changing and not in a good way. A huge economic depression following on the heels of The Great War was leaving parts of Europe and other parts of the world in desperation.

During the 1930’s Lara attended school, trained to be a nurse, and watched as the world changed around her. An angry man rose to power in Germany, while another angry man rose to power in Italy. Thankfully, in Amsterdam she was safe, even as people came to the country to try to leave.

Then in 1939 War broke out. Her home country tried to adopt a policy of Neutrality, but Lara was outraged at how the world was treating some people. Thankfully her parents agreed with her and they decided to turn part of their house into a hiding spot. The Alderliestens quickly turned their house into a place where those that were hiding from the Nazi regeim could seek refuge. At this time, this is when Lara’s life would change. A family moved into their attic/ hiding part of their house with a son just a few years older than Lara. His name was Levi, and he was a scholar that had once studied at the nearby university.

The two would talk most days for a little bit, sharing their thoughts on the war, on books they both enjoyed, and snippets of the news that she would bring to his family when she brought them their food. Little by little the two fell in love, until one day in 1943, after a few years of hiding there, Levi proposed to Lara, and promised they would get married after the war was over.

Tragedy struck at the end of 1943, and while Lara and her parents were out attending church, their house was raised and Levi and his family were captured and sent to concentration camps. That is when Lara’s life changed, and she took up as part of the resistance, and started to try to find her lost love.

How Did You Get To Hotel Valhalla: Lara had finally gotten a tip that Levi had ended up at Westerbork, which was infamous for being the last stop for many people. Once they left, they were usually gassed or killed. Lara couldn’t let that happen, so she as well as a small group of resistance fighters went there on November 13th to liberate as many prisoners as they could.

Armed with a gun and a sword, they managed to get a few prisoners free before they were noticed. Lara held out her gun and knew that she would probably die either way… so better to let others live. She encouraged them to flee while she started taking shots at the guards coming their way. After running out of bullets she turned to her sword and was about to take out another soldier when the fateful bullet entered her chest, ending her life.

Biography
Nova Duchannes was just your average college student. During her third year in college, she decided to spend her semester abroad. While studying in Ireland she met a man by the name of Thomas McClaren, a rugged traveler exploring the area. Unbeknownst to Nova, however, Thomas was none other than the Nordic God Odin in his human form. Though they had not known each other long, their relationship was a passionate one. It wasn't until she returned home that Nova realized she was pregnant. Atlas was born on August 16th, 1994 in Florence Oregon. His maternal grandparents had adopted him after Nova passed away due to complications at birth. A rarity in modern times. They never did figure out who Atlas's father was. Since Nova never knew where to find her estranged lover, the secret of his identity had not been made known.

With his biological father absent, Atlas always saw his grandfather Abraham as his father figure. During their time together, Abe taught his grandson many life lessons such as; chivalry, honesty, confidence, resilience, etc. All important ideologies for any decent human being to attain. Abe also thought it important for Atlas to have a well-rounded sense of self-defense. Every year the two would take a camping trip into the mountains where Abe taught him how to survive in the wilderness. In addition to that, Atlas signed up for Aikido classes and accompanied his grandfather to the shooting range from time to time. His grandmother Fae, on the other hand, was more eclectic in her tastes. It was through her that Atlas inherited his more mystical side. She had shown him how to express himself through music and the arts. Fae had also believed in teachings outside of the societal norm. As a child Atlas had been obsessed with topics such as astrology and divination. It didn't take long for him to receive his own tarot cards.

In highschool, Atlas had been included in some of the more "popular" circles. With his charmingly charismatic demeanor, it was easy for him to win people over with only a few well-spoken phrases. Even so, he only entrusted his friendship to a handful of people. One of which was his next-door neighbor who went by the name Corinne. Otherwise known as his best friend and childhood crush. All his life Atlas appeared to be outspoken and confident. He took on tasks unflinchingly and faced challenges with an otherworldly grace. However, when it came to Corinne his behavior was almost comical. She was the only one who seemed to overlook his charm. A personality trait he found to be irresistible. With her, his self-confidence faltered resulting in years of a secret attraction.

How Did You Get To Hotel Valhalla:
In early June he had finally convinced himself to face his fear and confess his feelings. Corinne explained that she had felt the same way, but had just started dating someone else. After a smooth recovery on Atlas's part, the two laughed off the awkward situation and decided to remain friends.
On June 7th, around midnight, Atlas was interrupted on his way home from work. A muffled scream had caused him to turn down a dark alleyway behind a local bar. It turned out that the outburst had come from his best friend Corrine. Her date had her pressed against a brick wall, his hand covering her mouth. Tears streamed down her face as she looked at Atlas pleadingly.
Without thinking, Atlas lunged forward pulling the stranger away. While grappling the man, he shouted for Corinne to escape and call the police. After a few moments of struggling, the man pulled out a 9mm Glock and pressed its barrel against Atlas's chest. As he squeezed the trigger, Atlas was able to wrench it out of his assailants grip. Only to fall dead with the gun in his hand.
