Sarah nodded, it was sensible advice. It would be foolish to rush to the hole to take a picture. She saw her Weedle going closer but he was still in the range of her pokeball to call him back she assumed so she let him be.

Weedle shrieked and wriggled but the grip was too firm. The ground got further away and his trainer got smaller and smaller. The words Rapier spoke barely got through. He had felt safer on the ground. Although slowly Weedle started to feel exhilarated soaring in the sky like this. If only he could fly all by himself.

Sarah stepped a step forward when Rapier picked Weedle but when Regan said to keep distance she stepped back again, feeling the ground shake indeed. Regan had seen it too and didn't intervene so she decided to trust Rapier with this for now.
"Saur, pay attention. This is a potentially dangerous situation and you need to be on guard, ready to strike," she said to her Bulbasaur.
Saur nodded, looking at the ground, trying to pinpoint where the Onix was.

When the Onix emerged Sarah turned her face away and raised her arm to shield. Thankfully Regan could swat away one of the projectiles.
Sarah stared at the Onix for a bit until Saur nudged her. "Saur, if he strikes use vinewhip. If Onix sends more projectiles also use vine whip to try and keep us safe. She raised her pokedex and it's metallic voice rambled on about the Onix. Sarah snapped a picture and added a comment to it. She glanced behind them and was happy to see Weedle safe and sound on the ground again. "Are you ok?" Weedle nodded, "Use string shot to slow Onix down when he moves towards us. We will not engage if he doesn't."

The Rattata ran off before an attempt to catch it could be made, but it ran into a tree. Shaking its head it wobbled around the tree and dove into some bushes.
A voice could be heard, not too far from where Bakuto and Gabe were. "Where did that Rattata go to?"
Moments later a Misdreavus floated into sight and stared at them.

Gabe scrambled to his feet as the Rattata hit the tree but only to see it disappear in the bushes. "Aw, it's gone now." Mareep stuck her head in the bushes it dove into. "What do you think was wrong with the little dude?" he asked Bakuto. Mareep moved forward into the bushes to try and spot the pokemon.

He turned in the direction of the voice and he jumped back as the Misdreavus stared at them. "That has to be a caught pokemon, I never seen one of those before so I'm sure they aren't in the wild here. I guess the Ratatta belongs to whoever has this one in the team."
Mareep stepped back, shaking off some twigs and leafs, before she turned to Misdreavus. "Rattata dove in these bushes, she informed the floating pokemon. "Poor thing ran into a tree after it tried to tackle my trainer."

The Ratatta gave Bakuto a few questions about it appeared to be confused but before he could act it ran off. He hears Gabe ask what does he think was wrong with it then a Misdreavus floated into sight. Before Bakuto answers Gabe he pulls out his pokedex to get something on this pokemon.

'Misdreavus, the Screech Pokémon. Misdreavus are extremely mischievous and like to cry out at night just to startle people'

Bakuto then says to Gabe, "Well that pokemon could be what happened to the Ratatta. A mischievous ghost type and a confused pokemon it sort of tells everything that happened." Bakuto then calls out towards Absol, "Alright Absol Buddy looks like we might have a the thing that caused that Ratatta's problems." Absol moved into postion between the trainers and the Misdreavus preparing to protect its trainer. Not really saying much the ghost pokemon or the Mareep. Absol was just waiting for his trainer to give him his orders to deal with the Misdreavus.

The Misdreavus looked at the Mareep and then looked back when leaves were pushed to the side and a twig snapped under someone's foot.
A man showed himself, by the looks of it he was somewhere in his thirties and his blond hair seemed messy. He looked at the two trainers for a moment, but soon had his attention on the Misdreavus. "Where did it go?" he asked.
The Misdreavus looked at the bushes the Mareep had pointed out.
"It left," the man concluded. He turned to the two young males. "What brought you here?" he asked.

Gabe looked from the Bakuto, to Misdreavus, to the man and back. "Well sir, I would say our feet brought us here by walking the path we followed. We were on the way to the rocky area to look for pokemon," Gabe replied with a nod. His impatient nature made him immediately fire another question at the stranger. "The Misdreavus is yours? Cool, where do you find pokemon like that?" he asked, hoping for a travel tale about an exotic place.

The man hadn't sounded too friendly to Mareep so she walked closer, in case Gabe needed help.

The man scowled at the sassy comeback from the boy in front of him. He glanced at the Misdreavus as the second question was asked. "In the cave, here on Rhando," he stated. "There are a few more there if you're interested in them."

With a nod of his head he instructed the Misdreavus to follow him, but he waited a moment longer before leaving to see if any of the boys in front of him wanted to waste more of his time.
The Ghost-Pokémon hovered close to him and silently looked at everyone here. While mischievous in nature, this one seemed rather serious.

Regan kept her eyes on the Onix, which was taking stock. Big guy, but he was cautious, too. Odd, that such a cautious Pokemon could be so careless digging a tunnel. She heard the commands the student gave her Pokemon, staying defensive and cautious as well. Smart kid, she supposed. She also supposed to was her own fault things turned out this way, too, so perhaps it was too soon for her to step back.

The Onix took a breath and gave them a roar. Regan gave him a roar right back. Or a good hearty shout, whichever you prefer to call it. The Onix, stunned or maybe just confused, stopped and stared at her. Regan pressed the advantage, "yeah, you! I fell in your tunnel!"

Sarah flinched when the Onix roared but when Regan roared back her jaw dropped. Staring at the Ranger, just as the Onix was doing, she barely registered the words Regan spoke. Weedle was laughing so hard he fell on the ground. Sarah blinked twice and looked at Onix, she double-checked if Onix was properly registered on the Pokedex before she tried to get Regan's attention by tapping her arm.
"Regan, maybe we should use this moment to back off and head back. We did what we came for I don't want to challenge it if we don't have too," she said half whispering but in a calm voice.

Sarah was glad the pokemon was still there but not very eager to be so close to it. She would just make her report and Regan could report her findings too so the professor could decide if further investigation was needed.

A Hoppip floated by behind the females, looking curiously at them. Weedle managed to get back up, noticed the pokemon and locked eyes with the Hoppip for a moment.

Gabe rubbed the back of his head and grinned sheepishly when the man mentioned he found the Misdreavus on Rhando. He had never seen one and really thought they weren't native to the islands.
"Yeah, I guess. Weird moment, strange guy."

Gabe thought a moment. "Well, I was going to show you the rocky area, we are pretty close there now. For the cave, we'd have to head back to Lilan Town and go further to the cave. If you really like ghost pokemon we could head back. Didn't know Misdreavus was there but I do believe there is a hall fire one there. Otherwise, we can go look around on the rocky area first. I'm fairly sure I saw a Gibble there once"

My... Tunnel? The Onix, still not quite sure what was happening, lifted his head to look. Fell into his-

Oh. Well. There was a hole. He knew where his tunnel lay, it was simply a matter of following the path with his eyes, and there, just yonder, was... It collapsed. He could tell, it wasn't dug, it had collapsed from strain. Which meant... His tunnel collapsed! The shame!

Otherwise completely still, the Onix glanced at the Ranger briefly. He'd seen the uniform before, not that his Onix brain knew what it was exactly. It was the pattern he knew.

Regan, for her part, was staring intently. It was lucky to be her that fell in, and not someone else! If she didn't have a student behind her, trying to pull her away, she'd have some OCHA violations safety concerns to... Discuss.

Onix sensed her restraint and took the opportunity to reverse back the way he came. It was Regan's run to be surprised.

"Do they... Normally do that?" She turned to look at Sarah.

Sarah looked surprised too. "I haven't seen an Onix do that before but I haven't studied Onix so I don't know everything about them, but since he just did that I'd assume they can so it might be normal as well," Sarah said honestly. She was still studying and didn't know everything yet. "I know more about grass and psychic types."
Sarah put her Pokedex away and beckoned her pokemon. "Unless you want to scold this Onix some more perhaps we can return and ask professor Maple," Sarah suggested. "I think it's very sorry for the shallow tunnel," she said with a corner of her mouth curling up slightly.

Weedle tried to get Sarah attention to the Hoppip that was floating nearby, the wind it was floating in subsided and slowly the Hoppip landed behind Sarah and Regan. Weedle turned around too and placed himself before the Hoppip. Sarah turned around to see where her Weedle had gone too and her eyes widened when she saw Hoppip standing there. "A Hoppip! The perfect pokemon for my team."
When Hoppip heard she got described as perfect she blushed.

"If you say so." Somehow, it seemed really goofy to her. Like if an Arbok were to do that, it would be pretty strange. Can snakes go backwards...?

At any rate, the confrontation was over. Probably. They'd found the Onix, so the rest of it was to take the young lady back home. Or wherever else she wanted to go; spending a little bit of time around the islands couldn't be bad. Learning the local lands could only serve her well in her duties.

Sarah took an interest in a nearby Hoppip. The idea of catching a Pokemon to form her team took her back. She caught a few different kinds before she settled on her final team. When she found out Naien could use Solar Beam, that changed her strategy in a major way. "Haha, seems like flattery might get you places. You've got pokeballs, right?" She had some, if the student needed to borrow from her.

River arrived by ferry, with her base within a case strapped to her back. Vaporeon at her side along with an Espeon. Her signature eeveevultions. It was the first she heard of these islands, as Evultion was doing a tour around. Turned out she was the first out of her band to arrive.
Once off the boat she seemed to be recognized by a few traveling vistors she stayed behind and posed for pictures and gave out autographs. Once she made it to the hotel she set her things down and left her base in the hotel room.
River decided to kill some time by exploring the area according to her map there seemed to be amazing caves in the northern part of the island.
She constulted her map after checking in to her hotel and leaving her base behind to go ahead and explore. The northern part of the island was catching her attention.

"What you you think Vaporeon? Espeon? You up for some training?"
"Vapor!"
"Epse"

River smiled as they headed off towards the northern caves ready to explore.

Gabe nodded. "Gible are cool, they are dragons after all, and they can be used in the league because they are part ground so that is a plus. They can be a bit dangerous though, my sister Sarah told me I was lucky it didn't bite me when it saw me, they have a tendency to go after anything that moves." He glanced at Absol. "I hope your Absol reacts well to threat as he is in front he might get targeted first."
Not that Gible attacks were very frequent but still, travellers were advised caution in the rocky area.
"We also have to be careful for holes and caves, Onix can be found too. Even a really big one."

Gabe thought for a moment about Bakuto's question. "I never plan anything. So I am not looking for anything special either. If I stumble over a pokemon I like I'll catch it. I probably should be looking for at least a couple of pokemon I can use in the league though but so far I haven't really searched."

Mareep walked up to Absol again and looked at him. "You see that tree on the left side? When we pass it we should take a left a the big boulder. That path leads to the place where Gabe once saw a Gibble. We don't know if it strayed or if that was it's home though."

Sarah nodded as she reached for a side pocket in her backpack. "I have pokeballs." Sarah doubted for a moment, she was hesitant to just let her Weedle charge for the Hoppip as she didn't want to scare it off but she also knew pokemon often had to be weakened before they could be caught. It was easier in the books than out here.

Hoppip placed itself before Weedle and started to stare Weedle down. Weedle lowered his head a bit in response.
"Very well, Weedle, poison sting," Sarah ordered. Weedle raced towards the Hoppip as fast as his little body could go. Hoppip responded with a tail whip but got hit nevertheless. The impact made Hoppip bounce back far.
"Weedle, string shot on Hoppip, we don't want to lose it."
Weedle shot his string shot at Hoppip.
"Haul it in."
Weedle pulled on the string shot, making Hoppip slam into the ground.
Hoppip got on her feet and tackled Weedle, who got slammed against a rock.
"Are you ok Weedle?" Sarah asked concerned. Weedle nodded and jumped back up, only to be hit by another tackle.
"Poison sting!"
But Hoppip was out of reach before it could hit. She came in for another tackle.
"Poison sting again, faster this time," Sarah said.
Hoppip hit Weedle but Weedle quickly stabbed Hoppip with his stinger before she could retreat.
When Hoppip retreated again and came back for another tackle Sarah was prepared.
"String shot!"
The string shot hit Hoppip right in the face, stopping the attack.
"Alright, a few more poison sting should do it."
While Hoppip tried to shake off the String shot Weedle hit her again with a poison sting. Hoppip tried to fend off Weedle with tail whip and splash but got a few good hits. Hoppip fainted and flew back again, tumbling on the wind, when Weedle stabbed a final poison sting with all the force his little body could muster.
"String shot to catch it and launch Hoppip this way," Sarah said as she enlarged a Pokeball.
Weedle fired his string shot, and with a twist of his head, he changed the direction the Hoppip was tumbling off too, more or less in Sarah's direction.
"Good job," Sarah said as she threw a pokeball.
The Pokeball hit Hoppip, catching it in the red beam and sucking it inside the pokeball.
The Pokeball shook a couple of times before the ping indicated a catch.
Sarah walked up to the pokeball and picked it up. She petted the heavily panting Weedle on his head before she let out Hoppip.
She held the pokemon while she reached to a different side pocket to get a potion.
"There, this will make you feel a bit better but we'll have both of you examined by nurse Joy," she said as she sprayed the potion on Hoppip, who giggled as the spray hit her.
Saur extended a vine to 'high five' Weedle.

Sarah looked at Regan. "Let's go back, I want to go to the pokemon centre for Hoppip and Weedle and report back to the professor." She said as she returned both pokemon to their balls so they could rest.

Finally at last, Dayvt and his team has arrived to the Rorie Islands! Their first stop was the largest island, Rhando. He explained it to his team before, but they're here on an adventure. First, they must get stronger. Second, they need to gather more friends to build their team. And finally, they need to figure out Dia's situation with her Mega Stone, as well as what triggers the mutation of turning Carbinks into Diancie. Much of Dayvt's research on the admittedly sparse subject indicates that these mutations only occur deep inside various natural cave structures. But beyond that? All Dayvt knew was that he was going to need keep looking.

And so after buying some supplies for the road, Dayvt and his team headed north. There was a series of caves to the north that Dayvt was certain would be a good start for their adventure. If what he reviewed on his DexNav is true, there's some good pokemon up there that'll be wonderful additions to Dayvt's team, in particular Lavitars. If nothing else it'll be a good place to train his team and toughen them up for battles later on. As he was leaving town someone did catch his eye though. A blue hair girl with a couple of eveelutions. But something about the girl was familiar... Was she a celebrity or something? Dayvt vaguely remembered watching a video with her in it, but he doesn't remember the details. Either way it seems like they were both heading north. "Maybe we'll run into each other up there." He thought quietly as he brought out his bike, put on his helmet, and started riding north.

River hiked alongside the main trail that lead her and her team to an overlook just before the caves. River took the time to make sure she had all the supplies she needed in her bag in order for some good training and exploring. As she clasped her bag Miccino scrambled down the tree and attempted to snatch it.
River was able to dodge it but instead the Miccino stole a pick from her pocket. It was special to her. "Caspian! Use Water Gun!"
Mincciono let out a cry that seemed to echo everywhere leaving an River, Espeon, and Vaporeon in a slight stun.
Vaporeon taking almost full frontal pretty big hit. River approached Vaporeon to make sure he was alright. "Caspian! Are you okay?" Vaporeon glanced up and felt bad for not getting the pick back in time.

Espeon ran after Minccino, who was running towards the caves and made a quick turn running down a different trail.

Regan remained at the side for get battle. It was her battle to fight, after all. The traditional method of capture doing trainers. She felt compelled to offer advice just once, but withheld. Sarah let her concern for Weedle distract her from the fight. She took the time to check his wellbeing, but that only gave the Hoppip the chance to have another blow. It was fine for now, she had time to learn that lesson on her own. It was an important one, though.

A fine battle and a "good catch. Back to town it is." She got Rapier to lead them back to the nearest road, and let him fly around from there. She still remembered which way the town was.

"That was good work with your Weedle. I wasnt sure how it would go, with the type disadvantage. Hoppip is grass and flying, right? Once you had it tied down, though, that was it."

Weedle put his tail against Saur's vine. Sarah recalled Weedle and Hoppip with the gentle advice to rest a little.
Saur walked beside Sarah.

Sarah was glad about the caught pokemon, it was her first pokemon that was suited for the league.
"Thank you," she said, "Yes, Hoppip is grass and flying that is why I can really use one for the league with the type-restrictions they have. I was lucky it didn't know any flying-type moves.." Sarah paused as she tried to recollect what she knew about Hoppip to begin with. "I don't think Hoppip know any flying-type moves at all so I guess the type-disadvantage wasn't that big for Weedle."

She looked at the more experienced Ranger. "How did I do in general?" Sarah asked, unsure if someone observing the pokemon battle and catch would see things differently. She felt like she did alright.
She turned her head as she thought she had seen a flash of grey in the corner of her eye but she couldn't see anything so she shrugged it off.
