Hello everyone, I'm new to rpguild but not to rp's in general. I don't necessarily love deep lore unless I'm consuming it myself, but the rp's I try to run are heavy story based. Albeit the depth I try to bring depends on what my players are interested in, first and foremost. Then mainly context. When you embark on a quest or journey I run, the depth will hopefully come from the character's I craft and the choices you have in terms of solving a problem. I also really love combat, so if you want to flex god himself at the end of a campaign, then you've come to the right rp.
That being said, I've never finished a campaign in person. So I'm rather inexperienced but make up for it with enthusiasm and the desire to see what you all do. Because that's my fun. Is setting up a scenario and reading how my players solve issues and how their ic relationships change. And hopefully make a few friends along the way.
I'm looking for 3-5 members. I'm not a super fast poster, but I can crank out 3 in a week.
I tend to battlemaps to help set the stage and in important encounters, actual gridded maps that I make in inkarnate. But if I get a party together and no one like them, I can scrap em. These are my ideas. I hope you like em and that we can have fun guys and gals.
First idea: Play as kids escaping the country side as it's ravaged by a dragon who controls the kobolds. And due to the proximity of the nest and the grander conflict with the demon king, which the pcs can't help anyways. The smaller towns in the south are left to fend for themselves during a time of crisis.
Setting would be medieval-renaissance towns in chaos due to the impending doom encroaching upon them. In this cutthroat environment the bonds of community are gone and every family is out for themselves. So you have to lie, cheat, and steal to level up and escape the monsters who get through the town guard's patrols.
Second idea: Escaping a mega dungeon created by a wizard who has lived for so long, that even lich would think he was old. In his old age he has lost the plot and has began lose his grip on time itself. I wouldn't portray him as a villain, but rather, as a researcher who amassed ccenturies of progress to himself then lost control of it. The pcs would be tasked with finding him and seeing if they can reverse the degradation before it hurts the surrounding land. Perhaps a magic meltdown? Something akin to letting out demons that were long lost for centuries in his prison?
Third idea: Basically a quest driven rp. Start in a guild hall and reveal the world as the players explore the town and surrounding area to complete missions. This way I can guide people and not overwhelm them. It would be a calmer rp that is meant to just explore simple to complex problems in a setting with magic, but nothing overbearing.
An example: A goblin problem that has wiped out two villages. Or taming a supernatural creature like an out of control ent that is harming others, but this is due to its delirium rather than malice.
