Starbright strode out of the plain and onto the docks. He treated the whole thing more or less like a cat walk, despite the lack of media. It was almost alien to him, the feeling of not being watched through a lense. He couldn't really say that he had ever taken a proper vacation. Sure he had been around the world plenty of times, but that was always for a tour or an interview. He never had much time to explore around before it was off to the next location. Unless of course, it was to post a picture of himself at some land mark on social media. Not like he was complaining of course, Starbright loved his job and couldn't imagine a world without it. But now he was looking at multiple weeks away from it. Which may leave someone to question, why was he here?

Well it was quite simple, Starbright couldn't go up from where he was. His whole life he had lived with the thought that there would always be another mountain to climb. But now he was at the top with his whole life ahead of him. What else could he do? Starbright dreaded the thought of stagnation. In his industry that just meant slowly fading away. So lost for answers or purpose, he looked toward other industry legends and came out of it with two options. Alcoholism and hard drugs, or a vacation. So a vacation sounded nice and now here he is, relaxing... he guessed. It was still an uncomfortable feeling for him but it had to be done. Maybe he could think up the next stage of his life here.

Starbright was wore red trunks, black flip flops, and aviators. The only thing covering his chest was the white and blue towel he had draped over both shoulders. The bag he carried off the plane is just as big as you would expect. "Well if you don't mind, I am going to get myself packed in. As you can see there is a lot to pack. After that though, I will be back playing beach volleyball. In case, anyone feels like losing." He said with a confident smile.

Starbright started to head off on his merry way to his villa before turning around with slight furrowed brow as if he was thinking. "Or winning if you're on my team. I don't know if I made that clear..." He begun to turn around before turning back yet again with a confident smile "the point is I will be winning." Starbright then finally walked off proceeding to his living arrangements. He needed to work on his friendly smack talk.

Christina had put to rest Yui's thought about a copycat killer by mentioning the Baron's powers being the 'murder weapon' so to speak. It saved one avenue that needed to be investigated sure. But it also mean there was no way she was avoiding the boat.

"I'm sorry but do I know you? Are you one of the new transfer Heroes I heard about?"

Unlike the ask about peoples connections to the gangs, Yui was prepared for this one. "Well I'm not surprised you don't know me. I've been here for a few years now, but I haven't really made myself known. It was really after the whole EAGLES thing that I decided to change that. HERO needing more heroes and all. I thought I might as well start making a name for myself, instead of letting some exchange hero do it for me." Yui turned her head toward Brooke, she of course didn't mean it as a negative and tried to keep it more positive. "I mean no offense of course Ms McMaimKill, I'm sure you will do great here as well." She said with a smile then turned back to Alpha. "But yeah, I've kept my head out of the way. I shouldn't have any problems."

"Which reminds me. Lets face it, I'm not exactly going to pass for an Irish gangster now am I. I'm not really cut out for being a fake hostage either. So just let me look out for my own disguise. You could say that this sort of thing is an unofficial power of mine anyway." The best lies come from telling the truth, or at least thats what she heard anyway.

Joseph

When the sea plane finally touched down at St Florian, Joseph could honestly say that he was happy to see the end of the flight. He was pretty sure he had left an imprint on the armrest with how hard he'd been gripping it, internally screaming from the second they left Castleburg. While outwardly he had managed to avoid making much more than a quiet whine, or the occasional miniscule whimper when they hit turbulence, he was pretty sure that the fact that he'd gone pale the moment the journey started and was only just beginning to regain any colour to his skin now that they were safely on the ground might've done some damage to the cool, laid back reputation he'd been cultivating the last year or so. But now that they were on solid ground, he could finally breathe easily. No more flying until the end of the vacation, which would be fine because they'd be going back to work, where they'd be expected to be stressed out.

He was content to follow the others without much commentary as they were shown around by the greeter, only really reacting when she handed him the envelope holding the key for his hut. He had to admit, he generally considered himself to be more of a forest and mountains guy than a beach guy, but this place was actually pretty damn beautiful. Looking out at the ocean, the water looked almost completely clear, which was pretty great considering the fact that water he couldn't see the bottom of settled nicely into his list of greatest fears right next to flying. Even the sun was nice, but that was probably just because he wasn't wearing a bulky jacket anymore, the trusty outfit of nearly six years having been ruined beyond repair in the fight against Winterfall. Instead, he wore a nice, potentially even trendy-looking hawaiian shirt the Hag had forced him to buy instead of a new jacket, alongside a nice pair of green shorts and sandals. Much like with the aforementioned shirt, the Hag had smacked him over the head when he described his plans to embarass everyone by wearing them with socks, claiming that he was 'thirty years too young to bear that burden'. So in the end he was dressed uncharacteristically appropriately for the environment, and despite his expectations, found himself surprisingly happy with the results!

The idea brought a small grin to his face, as he finally managed to calm down properly from the flight. It only faltered slightly when he actually looked at the key for his room.

"The Manatee Hut, huh?" He mumbled to himself, looking at the small design of the creature hanging off the keychain. "Can't wait for those jokes to start."

Thankfully, he was on the fitter side compared to the vast majority of his fellow lazy bastards, so they'd have to find something other than his gut to make the manatee comparisons to.

Whatever his colleagues might say though, he was more interested in hanging out with them than he was in unpacking at the moment. The hut was nice, and the idea of getting a not-so-brief nap in before the dinner later on was more than a little tempting, but he'd been a little less social recently than he was before the coup, and he felt like it was about time he started making up for it. It wasn't really an intentional thing either, he'd just had a lot he needed to work on, specifically the contents of a small, plainly wrapped package currently sitting on the bedside table. Honestly, it was actually meant to be Jamie's birthday present, but Seraph's coup and the subsequent time he'd spent stuck in hospital kept him from getting any further than the planning phase until it was nearly too late. So instead, he'd given her a placeholder gift in the form of copious amounts of chocolate, with the plan of giving this one to her when it was finally finished.

Well, he'd finished it just a few days ago, so now it was just a matter of finding the right time to give it to her. Hopefully without all the smartasses that made up his colleagues around to tease him about it too. That led him to decide on doing it on the vacation, where the only real smartass he could think of was Tom, who would probably be distracted hanging out with Grace to make fun of him. A perfect plan, except for the fact that his own nervousness at the idea was proving to be way more of a barrier than his snickering coworkers ever could.

He had time though, and he'd be able to calm himself down enough to find the right moment eventually. Right now, he'd just spend time like he normally would, and try to rid himself of the stress he'd been feeling the last couple of months.

Stepping back out into the sunlight, he quickly caught sight of Jamie, who was currently talking with that one new guy who seemed to hang around Starbright a lot. His name was... Chad, he was pretty sure... Oh well, whatever his name, he'd been meaning to talk to the guy for a while anyway, see if he could potentially poach him away from Starbright to become his cool mentor instead. The guy had probably forgotten who he was, if he ever even knew in the first place, but Joseph was pretty sure they'd seen each other enough for him to realise he wasn't just some stranger approaching them. Probably.

"Hey, Jamie! Chet!" He called as he walked over. "You guys got any plans on what to do yet? Because I don't really have any ideas except sleeping, or waiting for Starbuster to finish unpacking so I can obliterate him in beach volleyball."

"I did have some experiments I wanted to perform during this 'time off', but I guess that'll have to wait," Rumi said, sighing. He had wanted to explore Grace's portal abilities and unlock some of the secrets of reducing distance and crossing space. It could have been revolutionary in cutting shipping, storage, and travel costs, but it would have to be put on hold. Right now, there was HERO work to do. Rumi studied the hologram of the Black Baron, hoping to discern what secrets his outfit held. Surely this fellow had a few tricks up his sleeves to be able to avoid capture for so long. Then again, 1993 was a while ago, and technology has advanced greatly since.

As for an alternate identity and the black Baron's ability, Rumi had a few things to say. "I could also be a hostage," Rumi volunteered. "Theoretically, I can gather information with my Nanobots as a hostage just as well as if I were a criminal. I could also help alleviate some of the Black Baron's inflicted injuries. My Nanobots are also programmed to perform medical treatment. If I could study exactly how his ability works, I might even be able to render it useless."

Alpha

After hearing the "new" hero Cerise spoke about her time in Hero One and working on her disguise, Alpha then monotoned, "...understood...and my name is Alpha as I said...formerly K Nine of the CPD...may I have your name ma'am..."

Then Brum spoke his mind on the subject. Alpha then responded in a normal voice.

"Uh I don't know about that Mr. Brum. Someone may get suspicious that those going undercover somehow captured a president of his own company and a super genius with technology AND has his own private super team. It may raise some flags on us."

Alpha then monotoned, "...it may make more sense for me to play prisoner...you could easily say that I snooped into the wrong territory and caught me red handed...I have gotten stronger I think since the EAGLES incident...but because I didn't take a Tier test...I'm still classed as a C...plus, you could assume my fall out with CPD may have clouded my judgement and I tried to play solo cop and got burned for it..."

“Hey, Chad!”

Chad jumped as he heard the voice, turning quickly to see who called out for him. It took him a second to recognize who he was looking at, but she was pretty easy to put a name to. She was Quake - one of the S-tiers in HERO. Chad had met her very briefly during the EAGLES incident in Hero One, but hadn't gotten the chance to talk to her yet. He regretted that - being a Hero fanatic, Chad was very excited to meet an actual S-tier.

“This place is so nice. There’s a beach, and a bar, and an ocean, and a lot of cool stuff… wanna hang out, maybe? We have a lot of time until dinner with the director. We could build a sand castle or, like, go swimming… it’ll be fun!”

And, more importantly, she wanted to hang out! 'Operation: Make Friends' was turning out to be far easier than Chad had thought it would be! Maybe Chad was actually super cool and just didn't know it?

...Well, Chad liked the compliment to himself, even if it wasn't true. Chad was about to suggest hitting the gym (Imagine how strong a pro hero must be! She probably knew a good routine!) when someone else came up to them.

"Hey, Jamie! Chet! You guys got any plans on what to do yet? Because I don't really have any ideas except sleeping, or waiting for Starbuster to finish unpacking so I can obliterate him in beach volleyball."

While Jamie's name came to Chad instantly, he had no clue who this guy was. The guy definitely looked familiar - Chad had seen him around HERO One before, and his file was one of the ones given to Chad on his very first mission. They hadn't talked at all, so it was understandable that Chad would forget his name.

...Chad still felt pretty bad about that though. Maybe that was why he wasn't as upset as he usually was when people got his name wrong.

"Actually, my name is Chad... Uh, I'd love to hang out with you guys! I was going to go to the gym, but I'd be cool with building sandcastles or playing Volleyball!"

The gym could wait - Quake and the nameless guy (J-something?) were both pretty fit, but even Chad knew most people didn't lift weights during their vacation. Well, they don't in the movies - most he's ever seen was in the romance films where the pretty boy is swimming laps, and the love interest sees him while he dries off his chiseled abs-

Why the heck was he thinking about movies right now? Chad tried to focus - he was on an actual vacation for once, not watching one. Crap, he stopped talking - had to keep the conversation going.

"I-I'm pretty good at Volleyball though, so watch out haha..."

Smooth as sandpaper. Chad bit his cheek to stop from cringing. Time to think about something else - finding J-something's name...

Chad smirked slightly - he'd just wait until Quake said the guy's name! Chad wouldn't have to ask and seem rude, and he'd have something to call this person that was better than 'J-something'.

It was pretty incredible how quickly Chad could become lost in his own delusions and imaginary situations.

Before Chad could respond to Jamie beyond a smile and a wave, Joseph called out to them. "Hey, Jamie! Chet! You guys got any plans on what to do yet? Because I don't really have any ideas except sleeping, or waiting for Starbuster to finish unpacking so I can obliterate him in beach volleyball." Jamie waved. Now they had a proper little group going!

“Joseph!” Jamie’s smile stretched a little wider at the sight of her friend. Oh, it was nice to see him. They hadn’t gotten to talk or hang out in a while- work had been getting in the way, as always. She clapped him on the shoulder, perhaps a bit harder than necessary. “I don’t really know what we’re gonna do. I was just asking Chad if he wanted to have a bit of fun.” She gestured to the teenager in front of her, eyes on Joseph.

"Actually, my name is Chad... Uh, I'd love to hang out with you guys! I was going to go to the gym, but I'd be cool with building sandcastles or playing Volleyball!" Jamie waited for him to continue, knowing that to interrupt would be rude. Duh! But Chad paused and stared off into space for a few moments more than normal before appearing to snap back into himself. "I-I'm pretty good at Volleyball though, so watch out haha..."

A dramatic gasp from Jamie. He had to be kidding! “The gym? On vacation?! You must be crazy. I don’t even go to the gym while I’m working.” Jamie shook her head and made tutting noises. “Come on. We’re gonna go have some fun and play some volleyball. We don't have even numbers, but it's not really that big a deal. We'll just do a 2v1 or maybe a three-way. I’ll race you to the court!”

As soon as she finished her sentence, Jamie was off, jumping off the boardwalk and onto the sand, running as fast as she could to the volleyball courts. Unbeknownst to her, Chad had super speed, making his win inevitable, but, well… racing was still fun!

Tom laughed good naturedly at Grace as she whined about him taking the planner, quietly tossing it away behind his back as far as he could - which, considering it was a big room, was pretty far. "We're not here to maximise efficiency or whatever. The most productive use of our time is just doing what we want to when we're together." He noted, trying to soothe her with that surprisingly profound (he thought it was profound, at least) point. He continued smiling at her when she very evidently calmed down. "Because being spontaneous is what life is all about, Gracie. This isn't the big wide universe with stars and equations and entropy, it's a resort, we should just do whatever we want, that's how we'll have the most fun! And fun is what makes life... well, fun." He looked towards the door. "Damn right it should, with how expensive this place looks I bet this hot stone massage will be awesome..."

And so the pair left their luxurious beach hut and began to head over to where the hot stone massage was going to be taking place. On the way, they briefly stopped to look at Powers' impressive looking hut. He saw Grace looking down at the director's luggage, and that's when he too noticed the suspiciously gun-looking shape inside one of the bags. But to be honest - Tom didn't think much of it. Powers was probably the most paranoid and overly intense mad alive, he probably took an assault rifle with him when he went to the bathroom, let alone on a vacation in a United States unincorporated territory (Tom had to keep reminding himself that the US Virgin Islands wasn't an actual country). So while Tom had to wonder about how Powers got the weapon here, he didn't really find himself too worried about it. And the thought left his mind completely when Grace took his hand and lead him to the massage hut.

Just like every other building in this resort, the massage house was super swanky. It looked like something out of an Ancient Roman resort, with the big marble columns and the statues of the dolphins on the inside. He continued to admire the interior of the room while Grace confirmed with their appointment with the receptionist. When that was done, the couple headed down the hallway and to the door that was marked as Ocean. While not as extravagant at the entrance hall, it looked more or less like Tom would expect it to - nautical, and with the stuff that you need for a massage. "It is totally perfect." He agreed, looking down at Grace with a smile and giving her a smooch on the forehead after she kissed his chin.

Tom didn't have to do much to get ready - he was already wearing a pair of appropriate swim trunks, so all he had to do was unbutton his shirt, looking down to do so. When he looked up, he was almost blinded by Grace's uncharacteristically bright pink bikini. Tom couldn't help but admire his girlfriend for a moment before sitting down opposite Grace on the other massage bed, looking at Grace. "Yeah. We don't... Hero work takes up a lot more time than I think." He shook his head, before responding in quick fire answers. "Favourite movie - The Batman with Robert Pattinson. Favourite food - chilli dog. Favourite ice cream flavour - mint choc chip. Favourite animal - falcon. Okay, now your turn!" He said, smiling.

Location: Meeting Room -> Armoury

"Let's hope that she is, I'm bad at these sort of things." Max replied as he stretched his limbs. He followed Blake as they trod through the labyrinth-like hallways. It was no wonder how he was getting lost; the twist and turns and lock and key were numerous. It made sense, this was HERO after all. After a few more minutes they reached the armoury.

Max whistled, if state-of-the-art was a place, this would be it. "Exclusive scientists, that's pretty dope." He replied, following Blake and making sure not to touch anything in fear of breaking it. He wasn't sure if he could even work off the costs of any of the things inside the armoury. Max, out of curiosity, palmed his encryptor. Naturally it swung open revealing... a whole lot of nothing. He guessed that it made some sort of sense, he was still fairly 'new'.

Max eyed Blake burning the letters and decided to bust his balls a bit, "All the Blake fangirls around the world just felt their heart drop."

Max fumbled and almost dropped the thrown weapon. Did Blake just have no sense of delicacy, who knew how much this thing even costs. "Sheesh, Blake," He replied, straightening himself to look through the sights of the weapon, "Not sure if this thing even accounts for my power. You sure it won't just get sliced up from the inside 'absorbing' my power?" The wind softly whistled as he formed a small ball of air on his fingertip. He then threw a small piece of paper into the dome; the paper shred as it was ribboned up.

"Got any suggestions for what to bring?" Max asked, having already made up his mind to take a back-seat in one of his first biggest mission, "I've heard you've done a similar 'mission' before, I'm sure you got some tips or whatever."

Joseph

@canaryrose@Duoya

Honestly, Joseph was sort of relieved at how easy it was to talk to Jamie. He'd actually been a little nervous she might still be annoyed at him for how painful his improvised treatment had been back during their fight with Winterfall, and adding in the fact that they'd barely managed to talk in about a month and a half, he'd been worried any attempts to have a conversation might end up sort of awkward. Talking to her now though, he realised he was stupid to even consider it a possibility, and he found himself grinning as at least one of his recent fears faded away.

This effect was immediately reversed as she walked up and clapped his shoulder, the doubts over just how forgiven he'd actually been resurfacing. He hoped it was just that the month and a half of power-assisted healing hadn't been enough to properly get rid of the soreness. Yes yes, that was probably it.

"Ah, cool, I was thinking the same thing." He said, nodding as she talked about helping Chad have some fun."It's our job to be the cool older coworkers and help him relax a little, right?"

He chuckled sheepishly as Chad corrected him on his name, pulling a flask out of his pocket and taking a drink.

"Oh, right, sorry Brad. That's my bad." He said, but nodded again when Chad agreed to hang out with them, even pretending not to notice the bit where he stared off into space for like ten seconds. "Don't worry man, you've come to the right people if you want to unwind and pass the time. Jamie's one of the funnest people I know, and wasting time just so happens to be my specialty! Though it does feel a little weird to do it out of work hours... Ah well, I'm sure it'll work out fine. Oh, and don't worry about being too good at volleyball for us, I'm pretty sure I have a decent handicap for you in mind."

He looked around for a moment, as if he was expecting something, before sighing and shrugging his shoulders.

"Well, I'm sure Starbucks'll show up eventually. Until then, I guess we can figure something out."

He continued to drink in the background as Jamie said her part, agreeing with her for the most part. Sure, he normally couldn't really talk considering how he actually tended to spend his time when he wasn't at work, but even he felt like he could relax here, as long as he ignored the nervousness about Jamie potentially still being pissed at him and the birthday present and stuff. Yep, right, he was here on vacation, enjoying time with his coworkers, and at least for today, he was going to relax and not think about any of that stuff.

And then he choked on his drink, as Jamie decided they'd 'do a three-way'. She... probably didn't realise what she'd just said. He was sure she didn't. Definitely not.

"Alright, team time!" He said, definitely still laid back and composed, and definitely not visibly startled. "How're we playin'?! One on two, or one on one on one?! I'm sure Starbright'll get here soon, but we can probably fit in at least one game in that time!"

Grace nodded sympathetically. "Saving the city on a daily basis does tend to be rather time-consuming," she agreed, nodding politely at Tom's answers. "I do love Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman..." Grace said with a nod as she tapped her chin, thinking of her own answers. "Let's see...Parasite, the original Korean one, obviously...and then bibimbap, strawberry, and herons. Herons are quite nice. So majestic...oh, the masseuse is here. Grace gave Tom another warm smile before rolling onto the massage bed. "This better be worth the money..."

One intensely relaxing massage therapy later, Grace stepped out of the room with a bright smile on her face. "So relaxing..." she said warmly as she wrapped an arm around Tom's waist. "It feels much better when you get to let everything go, you know...thank you, jagi," she whispered to him as she cuddled her head against his side. Their brief moment of intimacy was interrupted, however, by a couple that approached them.

The two individuals looked like movie stars, with a certain glitz and glamour and raw beauty that seemingly could only be attained by the rich and famous. The man was tall, with slicked-back black hair and a thick beard of hair. He was huge, maybe 6'5" or 6'6", and muscled like a bodybuilder, with dark brown eyes to match. He was wearing a pair of swim trunks that were covered in little seashells. The woman was possibly a goddess come to life, with longs locks of flowing cinnamon-colored hair and flawless tanned skin. She was wearing a pair of designer shades and a crimson bikini that accentuated an hourglass figure. They were, in short, gorgeous. The woman spoke to the two of them, her voice sharp and boisterous, her pristine fingers lowering her shades to reveal mocha-colored eyes. "Oh. My. Goodness. Spacewalker? Bypass? Wow! I didn't know HERO came to this resort!"

Grace was somewhat peeved for her personal moment to be interrupted by these two strangers, but she pulled away from Tom somewhat, addressing the couple with a polite nod. "Yes, that's us...and you are?" she asked, partly flattered but partly wary.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce us! I'm Andromeda, and this is Nikolai. We're heroes from ATHENA. The Greek hero agency, number 18 in the world!" She smiled proudly, a hint of arrogance on her face, but she spoke more than cordially to the two. "I have to say, I am such a fan of you two. Your powers are so incredible! And I didn't realize you two were together..." She held a hand over her mouth, as if this was a totally shocking revelation. "Wow. I totally ship it. You two are officially my new favorites. I used to close with Seraph, but, you know, the whole coup d'etat thing. Shows how people can really be somebody totally different deep-down, right? Such a shocker...anyway, it's so incredible to be able to speak to you two and see you here at this resort! Such a wonderful coincidence...oh, and by the way, Bypass, that bathing suit looks incredible. Seriously."

Grace blushed, enjoying the flattery immensely. "Oh, thank you, thank you, I was trying to try something different from the usual style, you know!"

"You look great. Suits you perfectly." Andromeda gave another facetious giggle. "You two should come visit us!" She held up her key ring, which had a large stingray on it. "Manta Ray Luxury Hut. It's right down the way here, you can't miss it. We have a lot to talk about...oh, and maybe we could play some doubles tennis or something! Well, see you!" Andromeda gave the group a wave before walking off. Nikolai, who didn't make a sound other than a grunt, followed her. Grace turned to look at Tom. "We should go! They seem nice. And cool. And awesome. We're definitely going."

"Alright, guys, let's go over the plan again..."

The entire mob-infiltration group was crammed into a warehouse storage bay near the docks. Blake, after some preparation and help from Christina and Zoe, looked totally different from usual. His usual spiky hair was, after hours of combing, no longer spiky for once. His scarlet hair had been straightened and pulled back, falling down to the nape of his neck. He was wearing a black formal suit and crimson tie with a black fedora perched on his head. A revolver was clipped to his belt, though he had no intention of actually using it. In his breast pocket was a fake ID for "Niall Fitzpatrick," a talented rookie Irish mobster. "We walk up to the ship with the hostages in tow." Blake gestured to the fake hostages, who were both handcuffed in a pair of magician's handcuffs that Blake had found in his bedroom. "We bring them onboard and snoop around. Hopefully, Black Baron is lured out by the promise of free kills. But! We don't let him kill them. Instead, we isolate Baron, take him out, and then call Christina to evacuate us." Blake smiled confidently. "Perfect plan! Alright, let's go, hostages. I'm gonna probably say some mean things about you guys, but I totally don't mean them. OK? Ok. Let's do it."

Blake grabbed Rumi by the collar and practically dragged him out of the warehouse. Outside, there was a rather large gathering of all sorts of criminals. Yakuza, triads, Irish mobsters, Italian mafiosos, superhero hunters, drug dealers, and more. It would've been a beautiful multicultural event, had it not been a gathering of Castleburg's finest criminals. Sitting on the shore was a massive riverboat, the size of a cruise ship, with bright orange-and-green colors glistening in the sunlight. "OI!" Blake shouted, guiding one of the hostages along. "I found'a 'ero snoopin arooehnd de dahckyards! we gahtta make 'im pay! he yelled. His Irish brogue was modestly more convincing than earlier, and while he did sound precisely like the Lucky Charms leprechaun and not an actual person, it was close enough for the man guarding the boat ramp. Criminals, as it happened, were not very smart.

“a 'ero, 'oehh? we ooehght to joehst feed 'im to de feshes befahre de rest o' 'is 'ero friends fend oehs!”

Blake had to hold back a chuckle. This man’s voice could not have been more comedic He took a deep breath before continuing with the plan. I gaht a better idea. We should keep 'im as a 'ahstage! Gives oehs an advantage if 'eroes do manage to track ‘oehs down," Blake responded, and the man seemed to agree. The poor goon was even dumber than Blake. That was a very sad thing to be. “Alright, alright, you gaht a point dere, mate. Leave 'im in the boiler room, and make sure 'e doesn't roehn ahff. We'll deal wit 'im later. You gaht a tecket?”

"Right ‘ere,” Blake said, flicking the forged pass out of his pocket. The guard gave a nod. “Right this way, mate. Welcome aboard, Niall,” he said, and Blake nodded in response, dragging Rumi along onto the river boat. It was a rather marvelous ship, decorated like the Titanic, with a lovely 1920s theme onboard. Carpets, chandeliers, lovely ballrooms, all filled with the most dastardly criminals in Castleburg. Blake practically carried Rumi along into the boiler room. "Alright, man, here’s the key. If the Baron shows up, just call me. Or, you know, take him out yourself. Whatever." Blake looked down at his watch. "The ship takes off in a few minutes, so the rest of them should be boarding soon. I’m going to go get wasted now. See ya!" Blake tossed a cell phone and a key at Rumi before ducking out of the (very smelly) boiler room. "Have fun with your hacking! " Blake called out before ducking out of the room and making his way back towards the actual gathering.

Blake made his way over to the bar, of course, getting a martini and looking around the room as he sipped the drink. Nobody that looked like the Baron was in sight. Blake did notice, however, somebody that seemed vaguely familiar in the crowd. A girl with long tresses of black hair and crimson eyes, not much older than Patricia, with vampiric pale skin. She dressed in a sparkly burgundy dress and was chatting with one of the Irish mobsters. Blake thought for a moment and then shrugged. Deja vu, maybe.

He texted the group on his phone. No sign of Black Baron. Im at the bar. Ideas?

”Excellent. Then let’s not waste too much more time," Powers said as he simultaneously sank his ball into the final peg. "As it happens, this croquet area is near the edge of the resort’s property. According to my map, there should be a cave just due east of this area." Powers trotted briskly in that direction, his mallet slung over his shoulder, and sure enough, in the horizon, a cave located right along the shore came into view. Standing in front of the cave was a group of suspiciously-dressed men, all wearing uniforms of red and black and wearing ominous black face masks. They were all armed, but not holding their weapons. Clearly, they were unprepared.

Powers held a hand over his eyes to block the sun as he looked. "It seems as though those gentlemen are guarding a number of crates. I think it’s best we give them a visit.” Powers pointed at a nearby sniper post. "I’ll deal with the thugs. You take care of that fellow, if you could.” With that, Powers jogged over towards the group of men, croquet mallet still in hand.

One of the men saw the Director and blinked beneath the mask. “Sir, this is a restricted area, I’m going to have to ask you to- AIEEE!” He didn’t even finish his sentence before Powers had slammed him with the mallet right in the stomach, launching him into the air before he splashed into the water. Powers spun around, taking down two more with a well-aimed mallet strike, before throwing the hammer like a javelin, launching it right into the cranium of one of the men with a deafening crack. The last goon had grabbed his gun and squeezed off a few rounds, but Powers shrugged off the bullets like one would angry mosquitos, before slapping the thug right across the face. The goon crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

”That’s done with,” Powers said, reaching down and removing the top of one of the boxes. He nodded slowly. "Parts,” he muttered, taking out a few of the pieces. "Lots of spare parts. Now, what could they be doing with...nuts and bolts?”

Powers contemplated as he waited for Pandora to return. He scooped one of the guard’s rifles. ”I expect that the entrance to their hideout would be through this cave,” he said, stepping inside. Deep inside the cave, a red glow was pulsing from behind a pair of thick, titanium doors. Powers turned towards Pandora. "If you may,” Powers said, gesturing towards the doors.

It took about 3 minutes for Starbright to return from packing in. Well one would assume packing in. The reality was that he chucked his suitcase on the bed and left with the expectation that someone else would be doing it for him. Starbright was in for a rude awakening when he returned later tonight. Still that wasn't all he did, Starbright made sure to applying sunblock and picked his favorite out of the three pairs of sunglasses he brought. Outside of that he was straight back to the beach.

Starbright wore red trucks, shades, flip flops, and the spirit of a winner.

"Starbright is here. And he is in to win." Starbright gave an almighty pose creating a burst of light behind him that resembled a sun rise. Or a sun set for his volleyball opponents. Starbright, having looked at the others, was immediately going to put Chad on his team. But he had stopped himself, he was on vacation. It could be nice not to control things for a change. "Alright what does everyone think about teams?"

"Oh, right, sorry Brad. That's my bad."

Chad frowned a little bit, not sure if J-something was purposefully trying to say his name wrong as a joke or something. He was about to comment and correct the guy, before he stopped himself. Chad still didn't know his name, so it was pretty hypocritical to want the guy to say Chad's name right... Right?

Whatever - even if it wasn't that big of a deal, he and Quake were being nice enough to hang out with Chad, when he didn't have any friends here. Chad knew Pandora for a few weeks now, and even she still got Chad's Superhero name wrong most of the time!

"Thanks, I'm glad we can hang out! But is making new friends really wasting time?"

Chad was excited to hang out with two other heroes, especially considering how he had relatively little interaction with the others in the organization. That was one of the reasons Chad was so eager to drop going to the gym - normally he'd want to make the most of his time and not waste it. It just so happened that the best use of his time here would be to make friends with the others - he'd be back the usual patrols and weight training when he got back the Castleburg, but Chad didn't normally have much free time to just get to know others.

"Well, I'm sure Starbucks'll show up eventually. Until then, I guess we can figure something out."

That part threw Chad off again - who was this guy J-something kept talking about? Maybe Starbucks was a corporate Hero that Chad had never heard about, but Starbuster? That just sounded like someone trying to get popular by having a name that sounded like Starbright's!

...Which Chad had thought of doing, but decided against it when he realized the legal trouble he could of gotten in. It all turned out for the best though, didn't it?

“The gym? On vacation?! You must be crazy. I don’t even go to the gym while I’m working. Come on. We’re gonna go have some fun and play some volleyball. We don't have even numbers, but it's not really that big a deal. We'll just do a 2v1 or maybe a three-way. I’ll race you to the court!”

Chad jumped back as Quake began running towards the volleyball court, kicking sand back as she did so. The Three-way thing sounded weird - could you have a three-way in volleyball, when there was only a single net? Chad shook his head and quickly followed after Quake, trying to avoid getting lost in his thoughts again.

While he could have gotten to the court in a matter of seconds, Chad chose to not use his power during the race. He wasn't sure what the tall guy could do, but Quake's power was shaking the ground - it wouldn't really be fair for Chad to win the race instantly without the others having a chance, right?

...That was kind of a hollow statement, really. Chad won the race pretty easily, not even being winded as he reached the court. It was hard to compete in a fair race against Chad, when he was one of the best Runners in HERO.

When the others arrived to the court, Chad had begun stretching, getting ready for the match. Percy always told Chad that stretching was always important, even if it was just a light game. Chad stopped pretty quickly though - it might make him look like a tryhard, and Chad wanted these people to like him.

"Alright, team time! How're we playin'?! One on two, or one on one on one?! I'm sure Starbright'll get here soon, but we can probably fit in at least one game in that time!"

Chad suddenly stood up straight, surprised to hear Starbright's name. Was he here? Chad knew that he wasn't selected by HERO to come on the vacation, and Chad hadn't seen him yet-

Then again, Chad wasn't really on the lookout for anyone, was he? He kind of wanted to unpack all of his things as soon as possible and didn't even stop to make plans with people before he went to his hut. It would be easy to not see someone.

"Starbright is here. And he is in to win."

Chad covered his eyes a bit as Starbright posed nearby, a burst of light signaling his arrival. That definitely answered Chad's question.

"Alright what does everyone think about teams?"

Well, a three-way was out of the question now. Chad quickly raised his hand and hopped on his toes, as if he was a child trying to be picked to answer a question by a teacher.

"Oh, oh, I call dibs on being the same team as Starbright!"

Chad felt a bit bad that he was trying to be on the same team as Starbright - he was probably, like, super good at volleyball. And Chad was pretty good at it too, even if he probably wasn't as good as Starbright. Maybe the handicap J-something was talking about would make things fairer, or Quake and him were really good at Volleyball!

"Wait, how'd you get here Starbright? I thought HERO didn't pick you to come on the retreat?"

Chad noticed that there was a sizable amount of Volleyballs nearby, ready to be used by guests at the resort. Chad smiled as he jogged over and grabbed one - the staff here were pretty nice, huh?

Chad tossed the ball to Quake and started walking towards the opposite side of the net.

"You guys can serve first! Let's have fun!"

It'd probably be nice to let them have the advantage, especially since Chad basically picked the teams. Hopefully Starbuster and Starbucks would be fine being on the same team when they showed up.

Pandora smirked as Hugo utterly outplayed her. Wobbling her head at the 'convenient placement' of the croquet area, she followed Director Powers to their intended location. The two of them looked quite ridiculous in a way that pleased her. Hugo in his flower print shirt and her in her bikini top and open-fronted dress bottom.

Pandora nodded and made her way to the sniper post. After a few moments of walking she sank halfway into the earth and leaned forward, zooming silently along the ground. Hugo seemed to be casual about this whole thing so she figured it wasn't a big deal. Just some unsuspecting , overpaid goons. More used to chasing off tourists than X-200 infected mutants.

The sniper was totally unsuspecting. He was watching Powers as he approached through a scope. So when Pandora arrived and tapped on his shoulder, he was taken off guard. He gasped, turning around just as she slammed her fist into his face, knocking his hat clean off. She stepped on his rifle, turning it into goo. Then the summer-dressed woman grabbed for his hands, pushing them together. In a matter of moments she had bound his sleeves together with his own sleeves, and then sunk his coat into the wall.

"What the hell?" He said, confused, lip bloody from the sucker punch. She put a finger to his lips and then reached for his hat, stuffing it plainly into his mouth.

"Hush." She combined his shoelaces together for good measure. "Someone'll come along and get you unfucked. Just be quiet. If you make me regret this I'll come back and turn you into a pair of sunglasses." She threatened. She then lowered her sunglasses to the edge of her nose and looked at him pointedly. That seemed to shut him up. Just in case she put a toe up against his radio and fiddled with the circuits, disabling it, too.

As she slid her way down the hill back towards Hugo, she was rolling her shoulder. "Ugh. Been a while since I punched someone." She complained.

"If you may," He said, directing her towards the door.

Pandora lifted a finger towards him. "In a minute, hold on." She stretched left arm to the right, holding it in place with her other arm. She repeated the process with her right arm. With a groan she leaned down and touched her toes. Her back popped. "Oof." She rose to her full stature once again and twisted her upper body from side to side.

"The goo I'm made of gets bubbles in it. Have to pop 'em, y'know." She explained casually.

Pandora approached the door. Placing her foot on the concrete, her intentions travelled the short distance. The pavement moved slightly out of place, like someone had smeared it with their thumb. "Hup." The smear contacted with the steel doors and then turned into a hole. The hole grew and grew, the metal dripping off like glue. Though there was no increase in temperature. Soon there was a gap large enough for them both to easily fit through.

"I'd say age before beauty, but..." Pandora shrugged. With that she headed inside the base to see what was what.

This mission just might go well.

Patricia leaned against the wall of the warehouse storage bay. Her eyes were focused on Blake as he spoke. For once, she wasn’t rolling her eyes at him, because what he was saying made actual sense. The seven of them had crafted the plan together, and although it wasn’t perfect (she had learned over the past year that no plan ever was), it was good enough. As long as it didn’t get completely blown up. She'd just be happy if it did go well. Well, happy enough. She was still bitter about their stolen vacation. For this mission, she had donned a long, plain, strappy black dress; tan high-heeled sandals; and a red purse. Among various other things, there was a gun, her fake ID (listing her as 21-year-old Patricia O’Connor), and a burner cell in the purse. Her ears were decorated with golden hoops, and she had several sparkly bracelets and a golden necklace on her person. Her nails were painted red. Her hair was done up into a loose bun on the back of her head, and her makeup (red lipstick, smokey eye, heavy mascara, etc.) had been applied perhaps a bit heavier than needed. Whatever. It had been Christina and Zoe who had orchestrated most of their outfits, anyway.

“Alright, then. Let’s go,” said Patricia after Blake spoke. She pushed herself off the wall, grabbed the blind-folded Brooke by the shoulders roughly, and shoved her along after Blake and Rumi. A stutter of fear ran through her at seeing the gangsters, but she quickly tamped it down. Oddly enough, she felt braver than she had last time they had all done something like this. It emboldened her. She kept an impartial face the entire time Blake spoke to the gangsters, although she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes at his stupid Irish accent. If he kept that up, they would absolutely be found out. There was no way anyone actually talked like that!

The gangster raised a brow at Patricia after Blake went in, to which she responded with a shrug. “Same story as ‘im. ‘Ere’s me pass.” She fished it out of her purse and handed it to him. Her Irish accent was much less pronounced than Blake’s because she actually had some semblance of dignity, but she still found it a bit fun.

The guard took a moment to scrutinize her pass, but he eventually handed it over to her. She breathed a sigh of relief. “Have a nice night, lass.” He then clapped her on the shoulder and ushered her in.

As soon as she was allowed in, Patricia followed Blake and made a beeline for the boiler room. She was trying to look like she was being as rough as possible with Brooke while actually not being rough, and it was a hard balance. If Brooke had been actually resisting, she probably would have been able to get away ages ago. The ship was opulent, Patricia noted, and crowded. If they were exposed in the open, they wouldn’t stand much of a chance.

Once they got into the boiler room, Patricia let go of her vice grip on Brooke’s shoulders and lifted up the other woman’s blindfold for a moment. “Sorry about that,” she said, sheepishly. Patricia fully realized it wasn’t the best first impression for someone who actually seemed quite nice. “Basically the same thing Blake said. Just sit here, look hostage-y, and if the Black Baron comes, well… call us and try not to die. Maybe don’t call Blake if he’s getting wasted though.” She gave a key and a cell phone to Brooke and then pulled her blindfold down again. “Good luck.” She left the boiler room after Blake and went back to the ballroom, fully ready to do some sleuthing.

The first rule of going undercover: Look busy. Patti headed for the bar and took up a seat a good ways away from Blake. Ordering a virgin drink might look a bit suspicious, so she just ordered a Shirley Temple. Her eyes flitted around the room, looking for the Black Baron. She knew he was old, but she couldn’t see anyone that resembled him. However, her eyes did set upon someone that made her blood run cold.

Malady. Shit! Patricia immediately averted her gaze and tried to school her expression into something resembling neutrality. She hadn’t seen the other girl since April, and she would be lying if she said she’d been looking forward to seeing her again. Why would Zero be here? If they were after something here… well, then, it was bound to be a shitshow. Hopefully, they didn’t realize that there were “hostages” in the backroom. She took an anxious sip of her drink and reached for her phone, fumbling. She checked behind her before she did to look for any over-the-shoulder creepers, but she took a discreet picture of Kat and sent it to the group chat, along with a text.

im at the bar too. spotted malady. for everyone who doesn't know, she's an extremely dangerous, classified villain. dont let her get you alone and dont let her touch you. hopefully she wont be a problem, but we should probably let christina know about this later.

dont have any ideas. maybe we should wait and just watch the entrance to the boiler room? we should maybe talk to some of the mobsters around

also blake pls don’t drink that entire martini i stg i WILL hurt you
Patricia

Chad easily beat Jamie to the volleyball court, of course. Despite her head start, Jamie certainly wasn’t as good a runner like him. She tried not to look hurt and grinned instead. “Ooh, Starbright’s coming? We should totally wait for him!” A 2v2 would be much better than one of the other things they had thought of.

Jamie took her strappy sandals off and deposited them on the ground next to the court. It was no good to play with those shoes- she would trip!

Before she fully realized it, Starbright had arrived, and he was talking about teams. Jamie almost volunteered herself to be his teammate, but Chad got there first. Oh, well. Being on a superstar’s team was fun and all, but she had Joseph! And he was… Joseph! She couldn’t think of any volleyball-related positive qualities of his.

“Ooh, I love serving!” Jamie caught the ball effortlessly. “Heads up!” She threw the ball into the air, put her hands together, and hit it onto the other side of the net.

Brooke

Her life was in the hands of a group of children with terrible irish accents.

"Y-yeah. I'm gonna die." Brooke mumbled to herself as Firebird smooth talked his way onto the boat full of super villains. "Had a good run, Brooke. Real good. But everyone's clock has to stop eventually. Some sooner than others. All things considered...coulda been worse." She shrugged.

She couldn't even see anything. So she just kept her head down and kept mostly quiet.

"Ouchie," Brooke complained quietly as her shoulder was accidentally pushed near it's rotational limit by Aria.

Soon, they made their way into the boiler room. Aria saw fit to pull of her blindfold, Brooke opening her eyes and blinking a few times. She took the key and cell phone. "Look hostage-y. Got it. Good luck out there." She said. Her face scrunched up as the blindfold was put back over her eyes.

"Uh-" She said as Patricia left her. Brooke felt around blindly for the back pocket of her jeans, storing the cellphone and key in there.

"...Well," she said to Rumi. "You're a super-genius, right? Sir. E Brum? You been, uh, captured many times before? Not me. This is my first time. I had a pretty good track record." She sighed. She sat back, letting her head hit the wall. There wasn't much to look at in the boiler room, so she just listened instead.

Tom nodded, smiling. "Good choices Gracie, good choices. That American remake of Parasite was such a cash grab, I can't believe they thought it was a good idea - and making a sequel too! So lazy..." Tom complained. He was right about what he said earlier. It did feel sometimes that they never got the chance to just relax and talk as much as they wanted to. Castleburg was just such a big and busy city, it always feels rushed no matter what you're up to. And there's also so much crime that it's hard to find the time to take an extended period of time off. But Tom's thoughts were interrupted by the appearance of the masseuse, so he just put his thoughts towards his anticipation for the relaxing experience ahead.

And a relaxing experience it was. Tom sighed contently after, walking with Grace out of the hut. "Damn, it really was, wasn't it?" The steam and heat of the massage room had made his hair fall down out of its style, so he brushed some out of his face just in time to smile down at Grace. "See, I told you. I know you're a supergenius physicist, but you need to listen to me more." He teased her, chuckling. But their conversation was interrupted by the arrival of the couple walking down the road. Tom very quietly went "Woah!" as the two figures appeared down the path.

They certainly did look like movie stars, and Tom spent a few moments racking his brain to figure out if he recognised either of these two from any movies he had seen recently. But that idea was quickly removed when the woman immediately started gushing over meeting Tom and Grace. Tom figured that a super famous movie star wouldn't react like that after recognising them. He let Grace do the talking as she asked who exactly these two people were - they were soon revealed to be heroes from the Greek hero agency. "Oooh, Athena..." He said, nodding, just to totally indicate that he was listening.

Tom smiled as the girl complimented how good they looked together as a couple. "Well, it really wasn't that much of a shock if you knew him, but... Yeah." He then stayed quiet as the two girls had a short chat - while he was listening, a question came up in his mind. He thought it was probably stupid, but he'd voice it to Grace after this interaction is over. He nodded at the suggestion of meeting up again later. "Tennis would totally be fun, I haven't played that in ages." He noted, before waving back as the pair walked off in the other direction.

He looked down at Grace. "Firstly, she's right, that does look really good on you. And yeah, we should totally take them up on their offer." He paused. "But I mean... Don't you think it's weird that Greek heroes have come all the way to the U.S Virgin Islands for a vacation? There's plenty of pretty vacation spots in Greece, or even Europe, but they came all the way here? I dunno, it just seems weird... Probably nothing." He shrugged. "Anyway, what do you wanna do now?"

Max pulled at the lapels of his suit. It was dyed in all black aside from the purple tie and neatly-folded pocket square. He had a black fedora with a purple ribbon to fit his ensemble. Max tried to ignore the fact that he was wearing a suit that cost as much as a beat-up car. It fit him perfectly but he was missing his comfortable, baggy clothing. That and he had an inkling that this mission would probably end with a ruined suit. Tied to his belt was his ID- Alcide Sicily. Others have always said he looked vaguely Italian, so he figured he would roll with it. On his fingers with multiple rings with purple motifs, some too edgy to be worn in public. Finally he had his gun and a retractable baton stick on his leg.

Max listened intently to the Blake's reconfirmation of the plan. The boy made sure to drill it into his head and just follow the plan. Hell, he'd avoid conversing with the other gangsters in the party, he knew his tongue and it could very well just compromise his cover or hell, the mission. Luckily his resting face helped his façade and he fit right at home with the moody criminals. The guard simply grunted at him, as if already convinced he was a criminal. Max still flashed the pass towards him and sauntered in.

Walk as if you need to be somewhere and look busy, no one will bother you then, were the words Max repeated in his head whilst biting his tongue. It was an effort to not comment on some of these criminals' mannerisms or clothing style. Max eyes flickered through the sea of criminals conversing and even partying with each other. What a crazy assortment of scum.

Uh, oh. Max's eyes landed on a familiar figure, a figure he threatened during his short one-fight-stint as a vigilante before becoming an official HERO agent. It was one of the Brookside Bruiser goons with that was with Iron George. The goon seemed to be next to his superiors but Max didn't recognize them. He pulled his fedora downwards as his phone buzzed in his pants.

Max read through the Blake's and Patricia's messages before sending his own-

Got it. Don't let Malady touch you. Luckily Max had taken some of his off-time to reading about some of the notable villains and he knew what Malady looked like. Can't offer much in terms of ideas but... I got a question, how likely is it that the Brookside Brothers are in this get-together? If so it's possible I may be screwed, I recognize one of them. They'd probably recognize me too.

Autocorrect, it's Bruisers... I think.

Rumi played his part as the hostage, keeping his expression emotionless as he was led by Blake into enemy territory. While doing so, he kept his eyes and ears open, constantly examining his surroundings. Nothing much of importance was really worth noting, though, as most of the ship was filled with pure extravagance. The sight of it all made Rumi feel disappointed. There was more to being rich than having chandeliers and red carpets everywhere. This was just a waste of money. He thought such space would've been better suited for having useful technology occupying it like workbenches and 3d printers, but he knew that was merely his own preference.

He resisted the urge to roll his eyes, almost forgetting that he was still a hostage, and continued on until they reached the boiler room. After Blake left, Rumi removed the handcuffs from himself and Brooke before handing over the key and cell phone to her. He rubbed his wrists, relieving the discomfort, and then pressed a button on his glasses. Upon doing so, they transformed into a black visor that covered his eyes. For a moment his vision was dark, but then the visor booted up and the display in his eyes activated. A swarm of nanobots emerged from his sleeves, crawling along his arms before forming into a pair of chrome-grey gauntlets around them. Rumi then raised his left arm, which projected a laser keyboard on his forearm. He began to type a few commands into it to fully bootup his systems and make some last-minute adjustments in his suit's functions.

To Brooke, nothing would have changed in her eyes, with Rumi appearing to act strangely. In reality, Rumi was hard at work. "Hmm?" Rumi turned away from his work for a second to listen to Brooke. "Oh no, this is my first time as well, Ms. Everette. I just thought it'd be fun to play the role for once. Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed in it all. We infiltrated this ship much too easily." A notification appeared in the corner of his eye, and the phone also sounded off a notification indicating a text message.

"You should probably get that," Rumi said to Brooke while opening up the text in his visor. So far, the news wasn't great. There was no sign of their target, the Black Baron, and a member of ZERO, Malady, was spotted in the party. The thought of ZERO being involved in this operation disheartened Rumi. At the same time, though, it was an opportunity to learn more about the organization.

Rumi typed out a response to the group. Our target is still the Black Baron. Malady and any ZERO associates will only be a secondary concern, but do maintain a level of caution around them.

Cerise had not expected to be donning her Devil's jacket again so soon. What once was a great comfort to her had filled her with anxiety, dread, and resurfacing memories. It was just her luck that the first mission she was on would require something like this. To gain trust with these people was the goal and this was how to achieve it. One night in the toxic miasma of her old life to secure her new one. It was a deal she would take with no hesitation. Well maybe a bit.

While she didn't look particularly battle ready, only having one katana on her back visible. Cerise had lined countless small daggers inside of her jacket and was ready to become a human buzz saw at any point. Sure it would tear her jacket to shreds but she wouldn't need it after tonight. It was the perfect send off. If anyone asked it was just 'a keepsake from a previous arrest' anyway.

Cerise waited for the others to go inside first and didn't show herself to the entrance until the rest were gone. It would very suspicious for a Devil to be walking in with Rabbits, considering a good few past conflicts. But more importantly than that, she didn't want to be caught by a good few of the others not being able to pull off an accent. Speaking of getting in, it wasn't too hard. A lot of the time it was having the right look with the right attitude. Then the people at the gate don't even have to check the list. Even still, a mention of the Koshiki Witch had sealed the deal.

"Alright I'm in" Yui messaged the group. "I think I skipped on reading the file about Malady and whatever ZERO is. But if its about physical contact, I'd like to see her try." She then made her way to the bar and ordered a drink. Most Devil's just ordered the same thing. Yui made sure to keep a distance from Blake and the rest, but gave a subtle nod to him.

Grace shrugged at Tom's comment as she "This is an international resort. Not many places in Europe with this climate, anyway." She stretched her arms out, as if to catch more rays of sun. "It's probably nothing. In fact, almost definitely nothing. I read over the security procedures that this place has. It's rather in-depth. A lot of identity confirmation and official paperwork required, and they do background checks as well to make sure you are who you say you are. Plus plenty of security on the island. The only way that any villain could possibly be here is if they knew somebody on the inside," Grace explained as she lifted her arm, slicing downward with her fingertip. A shimmering portal opened in front of her. "I left the brochure in the room; we can head there quickly," she said with a wink, and with that, she hopped through the portal.

She landed back in the room softly, before turning back towards Tom as he entered the hut again via the portal. "C'mere, gwiyeoun," she said bashfully, before wrapping her arms tightly around Tom and very nearly pouncing on him. Her lips collided with Tom's as her form pressed against his. She pulled back, her eyes sparkling with joy, her locks of damp violet hair falling messily in her face, her cheeks gently tinged with a faint shade of red blush. "Oh, Tom, jagi" she said lovingly as her hands roamed across his back, pressing her nose to his. She took a deep breath. "I've wanted to say this for a while..." she started diffidently, looking away for a moment, before her eyes focused in on his again. "But I really lo-"

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

A loud sound, like that of a drill, loudly shrieked out from deep beneath the hut, and the foundations of the building gently shook. It was not enough shaking to concern Grace of the possibility of imminent natural disaster, but it was enough shaking to break the mood for sure. Grace released Tom from her grips, her face rapidly becoming annoyed as she looked at the ground. "Geuliseudoleul wihaeseo!" she hissed, sounding annoyed. "What is this? Maintenance or something? We paid specifically to get away from this type of nonsense-"

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Grace's face turned red again, but this time not out of prudeness, but out of pure irritation. "I am going to figure this out this instant. This is unacceptable for a vacation. This is frankly disgraceful on behalf of the resort. How can I reasonably be expected to enjoy quality time with my boyfriend with this cacophony going on? I am going to find whoever is doing this and give them a piece of my mind," she ranted to Tom, as if he was a resort employee that was causing the noise and shaking in the first place. "We are going to go. Right. Now," Grace demanded as she lifted her palm. An orb of purple energy, the same energy that created her portals, formed in her palm. She pointed it downwards and sent the orb into the ground. The orb, like it was water, splashed outwards and formed a portal as it cut into the ground of the hut. The projectile of energy continued to travel through the earth until it reached the other end, forming a matching portal there. Grace frowned as she tapped her foot. "That took longer than I thought it would take..." she muttered

Grace sat down on the bed, putting on a pair of expensive, sporty sneakers that had probably never seen physical activity since they were removed from the display case. "You don't mind going on a quick excursion, right, Tommy? Sorry about all this..." Grace sighed as the drilling noise commenced again. "But I swear I'm going to lose it if I hear that noise again." Grace stood, walking over to the portal. She dipped her toe in, like she was testing the waters of a pool, before hopping into the portal.

Grace landed inside what appeared to be a maintenance office. There were thick metal walls on three of the sides of the room, with a metal grate floor and a large window of glass on one side. Against one of the metal walls was a security station, with a number of monitors depicting a variety of security camera footage. The man at the computer was wearing a red and black uniform with a matching face mask, but thankfully, he was currently asleep. Grace crept over to the window, her eyes widening as she took in what she was. Inside there was a massive open space inside what appeared to be a cavern. Several layers of metal walkways ran around the sides of the room. In the center of the chamber was a massive black pillar with glowing red tubes wrapping around the device. At the top of the pillar was what appeared to be some sort of cryptic MRI machine, albeit one that was jet black and covered in similar red tubes that were pulsing with energy. Patrolling the walkways were a number of guards in matching red/black uniforms.

"This is insane," Grace whispered, turning to Tom with a sense of great urgency on her face. "What is this place? What's going on here? I-" She was cut off by the sounds of footprints coming from nearby, growing louder and louder, coming from behind a nearby steel door. The sounds of jovial chatting between colleagues also grew louder. A disk of purple energy formed in Grace's palm. "This is bad," she whispered to Tom, looking up urgently at him, as the doors opened. Two uniformed guards looked at each other, before quickly lifting their weapons. "Err, freeze, you! You can't be here!"

Meanwhile, well above the mysterious fortress of death, a figure approached the ongoing beach volleyball game. He was an imposing figure, standing at more than 6 feet tall. He had dark skin and was impressively muscled, though most notably, he had what appeared to be tattoos of chalk traced around his body in elaborate artwork. He had dark black hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and shimmering olive eyes. He was wearing a pair of light blue board shorts. There was something a bit ominous about him, but first and foremost, the man was certainly a stud.

As the volleyball moved over the net, right before it could hit the sand, the man blasted into action. Moving at breakneck speeds, he was suddenly on the court, and grabbed the volleyball before it hit the ground. He lifted the ball into the air, holding it in his palm. "I believe you aren't supposed to let this hit the ground," he said coyly as he smiled. "I'll give you a pass, though. Sorry for interrupting your game. My name is Yousef." He nodded at the group, his smile having a certain charm to it. "I'm a hero from Egypt...ah, but no need to introduce yourselves. I'm, of course, very familiar with your work." He squinted at Joseph and Chad. "Well, most of you, at any rate. I look forward to getting to know some of you, but I'm also happy to be in the presence of such hero legends. Starbright! We've heard of you around the globe now...oh, and you must be Ms. Jamie Stewart. Quake." He smiled warmly as he approached Jamie. He smelled of expensive cologne. "I've read about you in the papers, but you seem even lovelier in person," he said flritatiously. "I'd love to get to know you better. After this game, perhaps?" He reached into his pocket and removed a folded piece of paper. "It's always good to spend some...quality time on vacations. Well, I best not interrupt your game any longer." He tossed the ball to Joseph. "Enjoy your game."

Blake sent another text to the group chat as he absorbed the information that had been divined. He knew that he had seen that mystery girl before, and now he had remembered her from the Gugliano mansion. His interaction had been limited to only a few moments, but in those few moments, the girl had killed the one man that the rest of them combined couldn't keep pinned down. She was certainly dangerous. Blake texted again, alright b careful...looks like something is ab to happen. Blake had sent this because one of the men, a middle-aged balding man with a Dali mustache, had tapped his fork against his cocktail glass repeatedly. Once the room quieted down, the man coughed into his fist before speaking. "Greetings, greetings. As you know, my name is Jim Rockferry, and I'm the president of the Castleburg North Club. I've organized this event today to help rethink how Castleburg conducts organized crime. I'd like to welcome a man that we've all known and hired before. Please welcome our friend, the Black Baron!"

Nearly the entire room cheered, and Blake joined in, clapping his hands together as he focused his eyes on the figure emerging from the crowd. He was an old man. A very old man. He had wrinkled skin and only puffs of white hair remaining, and in his hand was a diamond-studded cane. HE looked sagely around the room before speaking. "Good afternoon, my friends. As you know, I've spent many years of my life working to help bring down heroes. Many, many years. Now, though, my hourglass is running out of sand. My die is cast. Luckily, though, I've found a perfect somebody to help succeed me in this enterprise. Hopefully, she will be the one that helps bring long-lost unity to the different criminal enterprises of Castleburg. She's already proven to me that she deserves the title this past week. Please welcome my successor, the Black Baroness!"

Blake's eyes nearly rocketed out from his sockets as Malady stepped forwards, giving a curtsy, before standing next to the Black Baron, who put a hand on her shoulder. The crowd immediately began to converge onto the teenage girl, and Blake grabbed his phone and sent a text.

wtf wtf wtf what do we doooooooooooooo

He then took a deep breath, grabbed his martini, and downed it all in one sip. He needed it.

Powers nodded, impressed. ”Excellently done," he said as he stepped through the now-melted door. Inside was a long corridor of metal, illuminated with red lighting. Powers folded his arms as he walked down the hallway, mostly unimpeded. There were two guards that were standing in the corridor, but they were no match for the speed and prowess of Powers. In a split second, Powers had grabbed the two guards' heads before they could even realize what was happening, and promptly slammed them together, Three Stooges style. He dropped them to the ground and stepped over their bodies, continuing to make his way through the corridor, which eventually led to another door, protected by some sort of badge reader. Powers did not even need Pandora for this one- he simply wound up and slammed his shoulder directly into the doorway. The door was blasted off its hinges and crushed the unfortunate guards standing behind it to the wall.

Powers entered the room. The room was large and noticeably very cold. Steel floors and steel walls were lined with tons of computer servers. Computer towers full of blinking lights shimmer down on the duo as they entered. Powers crackled his knuckles. ”If I'm not mistaken, back in your day, they didn't quite have this type of tech. I will work on disabling it. If you could deal with the guards that will be arriving any moment now." As Powers made his way over to one of the server towers, as if on cue, three armed guards stormed the room, barking orders at each other. They then raised their weapons, scanning the large server room for any signs of life, as more reinforcements stormed towards the infiltrated room.
