I'm going to dummy this down as simple as possible. There are 8, but there are 5.
Water--> Ice
Water is more used for mult hit uses. Can be combo with Thunder.
Ice can melt into fire, but generally focuses onto one target. Both are the same element.
Fire, generally varies. Can hit many based on the spell, and can combo with earth or wind. Single element.
Wind, varies, can send projectiles flying with harder intensity. Single element.
Lightning -- > Same thing, Lighting can combo with water. Single element.
Earth, varies on use. Single element. Can combo with wind and fire.
Holy/Light, they are the same thing. Just particles condensed to be used for harm or support. Varies on attack use. Not quite counted as an element.
Darkness, same thing I said about light, just different polarity. Not counted as an element.
There is Sylvarant, a dying world that only flourishes when a chosen of mana fulfills the goal of the pilgrimage; the regeneration of the world.
There is the common religion of the “Church of Martel”, Martel was believed to be the goddess who regenerates the world once a Chosen has undergone all the trials offered by the Angels. Because of this belief, a Chosen is selected by the church for every pilgrimage for when the time comes.
What is to be known is the reason behind the Pilgrimage is why they are “regenerating the world.” It is because of the Desians. They are said to consume large amounts of the world’s mana at the Human Ranches. Without mana the world cannot flourish or survive. These beings are also said to get in the way and at times obstruct the path of the Chosen.
Exspheres are small spheres that require special ore before being attached directly on the skin. These enhance ability potential and capability. How these are made are unknown. For elves and people of elven descent, they either invest in healing and holy magic, or dark magic, not both.
Cruxis Crystals share the same properties of an Exsphere, but just like so, it is unknown where or how it is made. But what can be said is that these are hand given by angels. The powers of magic that come from this is conjuration, and holy magic. This is common knowledge for those of Angelic descent, or people of the Church. (Okay, it’s a different kind of common knowledge.)
Many people in Iselia do not know where the Martel temple is located and require a guide when an Oracle is signaling the Chosen and it’s company.
Aionis is a rare stone that if ingested can give a human magic powers. The ability of the four major elements,and variations of healing magic; However they cannot exceed mid-tier healing or elemental magic. (Not so common, but the opportunity will present itself to some.)
Humans- Pretty sure we all know what a human is. Generally light, good with cooking and farming. Really just average, less likely to master magic. Better use with physical flow of combat.
Half Elves- This race is especially most received by prejudice and racism. This is the result of humans and elves breeding. Great with magic. Good with alchemy and general cooking.
Elves- These people are rare, and especially have high intellect. Most noted for their pointy ears, most common hair color is white. Mostly viewed as scholars who know about a great deal of history. Great with magic. Good with alchemy, manipulation of nature, and animal and beast taming.
Half Dwarves - These are rare, result of dwarves and human breeding. Generally taller than a full dwarf, but unlike a normal human, they have the advantages of craftsmanship. and strong armed combat.
Dwarves- These people are generally small in height, strong, and are notoriously great craftsmen. Capable of building gear and weaponry.
Dwarf Elves- This race is the result of Dwarves and Elves breeding. High intellect and craftsmanship, good cooking, capable of making magitech gear, strong hitting, but lowest combat skill.
Centurions- Much is said to be unknown about this particular race, but what is questionable is the relationship they have with monsters. This race, much like monsters comes in different shapes and sizes, but their ruler is Ratatosk. There is one Centurion of each element. Have great manipulation over animals and nature based on element.
The Celestials - This race is particularly different. They appear almost entirely humanoid, sharing qualities of Humans, Elves, and Dwarves, but have altered traits and can imbue the power of the elements naturally. This race is extremely hidden and feared. They cannot however manipulate all elements, which lead them to subtypes: Lunar, Sun,Comet and Nova.
Lunar types having power over Water, Wind, light,darkness,and Psychic.
Sun types having power over earth, fire, light,wind, and lightning.
Comet types having Water,Wind, fire, plant and lighting.
Nova types having power over lightning, darkness,earth,fire and gravity.

and Nova has Fox like traits.
This race is greatly segregated depending on Zone or region. How this race came to be is unknown. They are also unable to use Exspheres and Cruxis crystals. In addition, Lunar and Sun types can heal.
Angels - No one exactly knows how this race came to be; but what can safely be said is they do not generally reside on the planet. It is believed that this race does guide the Church’s goals. Assumed to be good with light and holy magic. The race is believed to be good.
Naphill- A demon basically. Unlike angels, they can roam the planet. Assumed to have Dark powers, Psychic, and life leaching abilities and sometimes gravitational with the addition of two or more elements, better strength or magic, just varies. Incapable of direct use of Exspheres or Cruxis crystals. Can posses a host body.
You will be starting in the city of Iselia, the Village of Oracles. This village is peaceful, and has a non-aggression treaty with the Desians. As long as they avoid interfering or trespassing on the Human Ranch, then no harm would come to them.
