If you wanna talk massive money sink and a cash cow from Nintendo, all I need to mention is Animal Crossing amiibo cards + figures. They were produced for such a short time that the prices of the cards skyrocketed and they were being scalped. There actually became a market for people making their own fanmade cards because of this. The 50 cards they released in the Welcome Amiibo update acted as a DLC, as each card brought along a new villager you could move into your town, as well as new furniture and items found ONLY in those cards, unless of course, you were a part of the forums and could trade for the items. But, short of that, the items were hard to come by, and I believe it was nearing at least a hundred items locked behind a pretty piece of cardboard.

I am ashamed to admit I spent 150 dollars on a complete set of the 50 WA cards. I also bought each and every one of the Animal Crossing amiibo figures, because they also gave items in-game.

And don't even get me started on the fact that certain other characters could be gotten as well, most notably, Link, Epona, the two Splatoon girls, and a couple of others. There was also a rare set of Sanrio cards in the same set as the Welcome Amiibo cards, and they started off as a Japanese exclusive, so you were looking at 60+ dollars for a complete set of 6. They recently got a re-release all over, but scalpers once again bought the cards, and off went the prices.

Soooo... good job, Nintendo.

My recent bit of gaming.

Enjoyed: Chicken Police (Blacksad, but done right and more engaging in its story.)

Need to play more of: Dark Souls / Subnautica (My attention span is failing me. But minor nitpicks aside, I've enjoyed my time with these. But I also can't seem to motivate myself to play a longer game to completion.)

Why am I even playing this?: Botworld Adventure (It's a mobile game. But it's tolerable, I guess? Don't ask.)

Wanted to like more than I do: Celeste (Pretty art style. Though its controls are so fucking clunky. And I don't know if I can find the right controller/set-up to amend it.)

Immediate Hatred: Unexplored (Crappy puzzle-rooms in a roguelike, that has the least good tutorial I've seen in a while.)

Steam's recent sale has a lot of my wishlist on discount. So tempting, but I don't need to spend more money of vidya games right now.

What has everyone else been playing?

I recently re-played through Mass Effect thanks to the Legendary Edition and boy...a lot of the characterization in that game hasn't aged the best between Garrus basically being a trigger happy cop with some real pro-murder of criminal vibes and the first game especially being an advocate of the "good cop with a gun" mentality.

Also for years people have gotten on Ashley's case for being 'racist' while forgiving actual racists on your crew just because they're weird aliens and I will never not die on the hill that Ashley is the only well developed character in the first game (likely out of necessity given the events of that game) but a lot of people were taken in by the weird alien that human characters are seen as 'boring' just because they're familiar.

Also Mass Effect 2 is the worst of the trilogy especially now that you can see all three of them back to back to back in the same package.

Guardians of the Galaxy is the surprise hit of the year and is a better rendition of those characters than the MCU is.

I've never played a game with so much ambient dialog, it's insane how many different conversations happen. Also the characters make fun of you for exploring off the beaten path to find like 60 upgrade materials so that's cool too.

@Fabricant451 I've seen bits and pieces of playthroughs. The Avengers game make me super apprehensive about giving GotG a shot. Glad to hear that you liked it!

Wasteland 1 is about you and your Arizona Ranger crew rolling into town and picking up a missing person's case, killing a dog, finding your missing person, and killing the kid who owned the dog all the while probably looking like this:

And it's only act 1 and there's thousands more small animals to kill

I haven't been on Steam in forever I forgot about Winter sale completely.

Anyway, I've been playing a bit of Pokemon lately. Specifically an Emerald nuzlocke with some of the worst RNG I have ever seen in a Pokemon game. So many crits or other bullshit. I'm like 3/4ths through the game, so I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off lmao.

Lmao havent been here in a while. Got some new games for christmas.

- So far I adore Hollow Knight. The art style, the atmosphere, the music, all very lovely. It's a bit difficult Hornet. but I've treked through most of Greenpath, so im making good progress.

- Dunno who else knows No Straight Roads, but it's basically in the same boat. The boss themes are amazing and the open world area's fun to explore. Initially, combat's kinda difficult, but I plan on redoing boss fights before moving on, so I should get the hang of it soon.

But the DK West intervals? Kinda cheesy.

- Cuphead. Need I say more?

- Resident Evil 0 and REmake 1 are going to be the death of me I know it-

Enjoy the Mantis Lords. ^-^' Probably have already beaten them by the time I sent this.

So a friend got me, Fuga: Melodies Of Steel for Xmas. Because he's a weeb.

Something that has received no marketing whatsoever. (I certainly hadn't heard of it, before he sent it.) And it has apparently suffered as a result. (Despite it's positive reception. Which is always a shame when something good goes completely under the radar.)

So if I can easily describe the hook... (Since it honestly looked like Furry Advanced Wars at first. And any worthy clone of that game would be bitchin'.)

Instead, its a JRPG where you play as a bunch of dog and cat children, who runaway from German Shepard Nazi's. That destroy your village and kidnap all your families. So you find a giant tank that fires a one-hit kill death beam at its opponents. At the cost of sacrificing one of your children's lives. So you have to try to build relationships, upgrade your tank and its facilities. Etc. Etc. So you don't end up firing little Timmy out of a cannon barrel. (And the artwork is very nice.)

And yeah, I've enjoyed my time with it so far. (Even I keep f*cking up things up at the stupidest moments. Because certain details aren't made clear to me. -.- But I'll just pass it off as being tired.)

DoS2 is a lot of fun.

Baldurs Gate 3 when it eventually hits full release should be amazing.

Maybe try Disco Elysium too. I haven't tried that yet as I don't have the spare time I used to but it looks great.

I played the most recent Yoshi game on the Nintendo switch because Yoshi is super cute and al!

But the music was so bad I had to stop playing, level after level the music grated on my ears, which is odd as Yoshi game music is normally amazingly good! But my goodness, so bad! The game itself was fun but oh my goodness the music was horrendous!

Also why is Yoshi a boy? Yoshi lays eggs, surely that makes Yoshi a girl

Larian Studios is working on Baldurs Gate 3 apparently, so I hope it implements the expansive mechanics from Divinity 2. Fucking better be properly voice acted too.

It's available in Early Access.

I've already bought it and played through the Early Access part once.

Great writing. Interesting characters. Definite replayability.

I just hope Half Orc makes it in along with some more classes. Barbarian, Paladin, Monk, maybe a Bar Brawler kind of subclass for Fighter
