_____________________________________________________________________
Academy was very routine. Shinda had gotten used to it in all things following a certain pattern. He got up in the morning, made breakfast for himself and Shumatsu, packed lunch and walked to the Academy where he and Rei awkwardly greeted each other. Had classes, ate lunch together, and then sat near enough that people at least said they were friends. Today decided to be different, and having even known that it likely would be Shinda still was oddly not prepared for the assigned teams decorating the board. Their class was small, not really anyone of note in his opinion, and the names sorted them into what he assumed was an attempt at making balanced teams. Or maybe not he wasn't sure. What he was sure of was that Rei and him were going to continue to be some semblance of friends? Before he could really think more on that the door slammed open. Shumatsu stood in the door way in his odd hunched over way that he associated with him stumbling into the house past midnight after spending the evening who knows where. He loudly declared that he was picking Shinda up and the younger brother slowly blinked in response before standing and startling slightly at the fact his brother was their apparent sensei. Shinda scrambled after his brother after he made no attempt to wait for him, he knew better then to wait to long otherwise Shumatsu would fuck off to drink or something. Shinda awkwardly grabbed Rei's hand when he worried they were falling behind and checked to make sure the other teammate, Kamui Kaguya, was keeping up. They made their way to a training field, and then Shumatsu was introducing himself, and telling them to climb a cliff that was not the mostly friendly looking in appearance before sundown. Shumatsu left before Shinda could force out a question of comment on the situation. Rei approached the wall with some sort of positive comment and began climbing. Shinda nervously watched him start and glanced at Kamui.

"Boobytraps? You think...I don't know if Shumatsu would put in the effort..."

Shinda shifted uncertain again looking around, he was hoping for some sort of dirrection but he didn't see any indication, Shumatsu wouldn't have bothered with that either. Rummaging around his bag, he pulled out a rope before tyeing it off on an arrow. Glancing at Kamui he shrugged before firing it up higher on the cliff. The rope dangled next to Rei, and didn't make it too far up but at least it would give them a stopping point. Tough he wondered how much weight it would even hold...maybe it would at least slow a fall.

"We won't know much till we try? If we can get a good enough footing we can make stopping points as we go so we aren't rushing to the top, maybe figure out a way to catch on to something if we fall..." Shinda pulled himself up behind his team mate, he was going slow, partially because he was nervous about whatever Shumatsu was planning, if anything, and also partially because if he worse himself off halfways up a cliff it wouldn't be ideal. "We should pace ourselves as best we can, it's after midday but we have a few hours before it starts getting dark so we should have plenty of..." The small pebbles and rocks and dirt falling over head was all the warning they got before a much larger boulder came toppling over well above them.

Kenji Yamanaka“I just wanna be rich and famous, is that too much to ask?!”
_______________________________________________

Kenji couldn't help but let a giggle creep from his lips at the splendour of youth as the children began to gather around. He could already tell that this team had what it took, there was the groundwork for an incredible bond which would help these children pull themselves through many tough times that would surely come.

Although when the Mist boy, Rashiku Karata seemed to be visibily peeved by the explanation of their reassignment, something seemed to switch within the Yamanaka Tokubetsu-Jōnin. With a seemingly instant switch of his facial expressions; Kenji stepped toward the white haired child with noticeable anger in his face. To an onlooker, his face seemed almost black with shade from the shadows befallen upon his face as his hung his head low.

" I had planned for us to go to my favourite restaurant in celebration of the formation of Team 2. But seeing as "Somebody" wants to be a grump, I guess we'll go straight to work. Line up. Single file behind me. We're off to Training Ground 17. My sensei tells me that there is someone there who will be able to help us with our mission. We're going to the Uchiha sector after that. He decreed, his once warm demeanor now vanished entirely from his personality. Paying the team no further heed than a snapping of the index and middle fingers of his gloved left hand as he sauntered off in the direction of the training grounds.

Natsuo Aburame"Everyone talks big till there’s a bug in their mouth. Then they can’t talk at all, cause of the bug in their mouth!"
_______________________________________________

Everything was buzzing and shaking and confused. Natsuo's ears were ringing, and he felt like he'd been picked up and thrown somewhere. At the moment, he seemed to be half-buried in a pile of rocks.

“Hey... um, you alright?” Asked a friendly voice in the darkness.

He answered with a weak grunt. Was he alright? He wiggled his fingers and toes, then his limbs, scattering rocks off of his coat in a sort of wiggly octopus motion. Nothing felt broken. Bakuto for his part seemed to be uninjured as well.

However far more pressing danger lay ahead of them- they weren’t alone. He struggled to listen to what Bakuto was saying to the woman past the ringing in his ears. It seemed she was down a teammate as well, leaving her outnumbered but potentially no less dangerous. Bakuto had no intention of fighting her, so it would be unwise for Natsuo to do any different. There was no telling how far away his other teammates were, nor time to discuss fight strategy with Bakuto. Death outside of a cave seemed preferable to death inside of one. And once they were outside, Hideo may be there to help them kill their masked companion, or their masked companion may be there to help kill Hideo. It could really go either way, so he'd just have to run with it and adapt from there.

He clambered up out of the rock pile and stood up, then cleared his throat.

“I have to agree with my teammate, it would be unwise to murder us here. The rocks are very unstable, and we could all be crushed.”

Natsuo raised his arms and shook his long floppy sleeves about, sending a bunch of glowing beetles tumbling out into the air. Like small lit paper lanterns, they eminated dim light into the cave as they flew around. Some of them zoomed off into the darkness around them, moving like a school of fish. Others stayed near, blinking yellow lights around the cave and Natsuo.

Orochimaru
"It's human nature not to realize the true value of something, unless they lose it."

A woman in a crow's mask and carrying an enormous Odachi marched in uniform step a few feet behind the Sage of Snakes as he made his way from the administration building to the labs. The administration building was still only half rebuilt. When he had arrived in this village ten years prior, the very idea of even having conventional targets for his enemies to strike had been absurd. No... it wasn't until he'd established his hidden labs and recruited enough followers that the order to rebuild what had been a lackluster administration building in the first place made any sort of strategic sense. And now, with Iwagakure providing additional funding and support, putting together a structured village was a real possibility.

He wasn't naïve. He knew that the old Tsuchikage was merely using him as a tool in that political game he wanted to play. The ancient fool was proud, bold even, but it didn't matter to Orochimaru. It was noise, sound, and that was just where he'd chosen to hide: lying in the grass, hidden in the sound. Even this administration building was a misdirection. It was as unimportant as the village itself to his ambitions, but it was useful. The lives of everyone in his village were useful until they weren't.

"Squad 36 has failed their mission, Lord Otokage", the woman stated in a murmur. Her voice rode on the hum of the summer cicada and reached Orochimaru's ears with no effort at all, "all seven operatives were lost."

"Confirmed lost", he queried.

"Confirmed, sir."

A grin spread across Orochimaru's face that the woman would be unable to see, "Make sure they remain lost. We will have to find replacements for their positions."

Like with most people, whether it was acquiring allies, eliminating one's enemies, or exposing traitors, the best tool was almost always temptation.

"It is about time for Nakano to be promoted, isn't it?", he asked in a leisurely way, opening the first door to the only labs located in Otogakure proper. This was where he spent most of his time, but it was important that he make appearances elsewhere. The eyes of his enemies were always on him. They were on him now. Jun did not respond immediately.

"Sir, there is still no word back from that mission."

"When she returns, she will be made jounin and given control over Team 2's vacant jounin spot."

There was a longer pause.

"Sir, that man is here."

"He can wait. You can entertain him", he said coldly, closing the door behind him.

Mai Edano"Death before dishonor."
_______________________________________________
It was like a ninja to not take someone at their word. The honorless creatures that they were didn't seem to have taken her pledge seriously. Of course being a den of thieves and villains, even their children found it impossible to believe one's words. Mai scoffed inwardly, but wasn't their fault. They simply did not understand that when a samurai said to give up their mission or die that it was said, that it existed and was now a bond between her, those that had heard it, the entire universe. She may as well have etched the words into her soul. It would unfortunately be the last lesson that these children thrust into battle would ever learn, but she would make sure that it would be equally etched into their souls as they passed, so that they could, perhaps, take the lesson with them into their next life... it was the least she could do.

"I gave you the only two options before you, surrender or death, and you've chosen death. The word of a samurai is absolute", she said extending her sword forward. She would only need one against these two, she thought. That the caves had begun to collapse hadn't been lost on her. Roku was bleeding out under the rubble, but she knew that the important thing was that she keep her word. She had to. Even when she was very young, she'd been taught that in battle, following your lord and striking down one's enemy must always be at the forefront of your mind, that honor came before all else, that it was a sign of your lack of resolve to consider your own life in your decisions, that even throwing one's life away was preferable to not taking action when there was action to take. And so she advanced towards the one in the hat, whose smaller stature surely indicated that he must have gotten by on trickery, and slashed at him with enough force to cut the ground that her blade had never touched. A faint glow hung in the air where her weapon had been.

Yes, she would teach them to honor the word of a samurai before they were slaughtered by one. A contemptible loss.

Kenshiro Hyuuga
Location: Training Ground 5
Company: Just Shiori
Injuries: cuts and bruises, some splinters
Chakra: 50%

Ken was leaned forward while sitting next to Shiori on one of the scattered trees from the skirmish, holding the folded page from Hotaru's notebook between his knees. "J-Jaa..." He regretfully said towards Burai as the other boy left, barely returning the small wave Ken had given. It felt awful, having Burai dismissed from the team so suddenly. Yet, it did make sense. With how the other boy acted, he clearly needed some... thing. Ken wasn't sure what he needed. Burai would probably get it later, Ken hoped at least.

The boy looked around the field, seeing all the scattered debris and how it ended up where it landed. Ken remembered everything that happened just before he'd ended the battle. He'd seen... almost everything. Some of it was too fast. Hotaru... He was too fast. It was Burai and his own attacks, trees flying in the air, earth and splinters crashing all around, Kuree starting to make her move in response to them, Shiori's webs filled with tiny spiders, and Hotaru. Hotaru was there, witnessing it all, and then either he moved, or used a technique, to suddenly get between Kuree and the boys. In the next moment Ken had felt like he was in a tornado, bits of log and rocks hitting him all over as he was blown away onto his back. Hotaru had scattered everyone, and ended the fight with dismissals of both Kuree and Burai, and now Ken was alone with just the Spiga girl. Normally he would prefer to be around someone that wasn't her, but after the sudden fight that was potentially to the death with Kuree, he minded Shiori's presence far less.

"This cousin of mine seems more qualified than the sand woman but I'm not enjoying the secrets." He told Shiori with a short sigh. "Got any guesses as to what this... special team is?" Ken had a few thoughts on it of his own, but it was of course very unclear. He wondered what she would think, maybe her ideas would be less conflicting than his own. "Read the note yet?" As he'd asked, it was clear he hadn't read his, with it still folded up. At that moment he finally flipped it up and held it in his lap to read it. Somewhat difficult to see from the angle she was at were she to look, yet at the same time he wasn't making any effort to hide what was written.

Rei Chinmoku Location: Sound Village | A scary, dumb cliff.
_______________________________________________
Rei was far more comfortable when his teammates finally joined him on the cliff. It was a good idea from Shinda to try an arrow and rope. Rei was pretty sure he wasn't strong enough to ire and arrow and have it stick in rock, but Shinda was really good with bow and arrow.

Boobytraps? He tugged on the rope to test it and figured that it'd at least be safe to use as a guide for them all or something.

But back to the possible threats, would Shumatsu do that? The sudden trickling of falling pebbles and rocks, to the subsequent collective look up to what was coming by all three of them, was the obvious 'he would absolutely do that'. Rei almost squeaked in surprise and then scrambled to move out of the way as a boulder rolled down their way. He was definitely going to have to fix his sweater and clean everything. This whole trying to move out of the way as quickly as possible business was really going to do a number on his clothes and his hands. Was he even going to have hands by the end of this?

He managed to move out of the way and dodge off to the side, somehow still hanging on. Instinctively, he looked back to the others to see if they were okay and then back up the cliff face. "Okay, what if we take turns or something to fend off what's coming?" He said this and then immediately realized that he mayhap not be the best for this task, but dammit he was going to try. He moved back toward them, determined about this.

Ichika Uchiha“Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________
Ichika could do nothing but wait as Katsuya made a break towards the beach head, with the shadow of anxiety and trauma racing through her mind as she relived the night of the Kyuubi attack on Konoha. Flashbacks of the terrible visage of the demon fox flashing into reality. But even still, she was not frozen with fear or anything of the likes, Ichika had steeled herself and endured far too much for such weakness to overcome her. Even if she was visibly shaken by the demonic battle raging on behind her. No, Ichika was forced to wait and charge her chakra because she literally was unable to act in any other manner. While it was true that on land, she was akin to an apex predator, with very few equals and even fewer whom were her superior; in a marine environment at this range? She was almost entirely helpless.

As Nakano's bombardment continued upon the shore, Ichika scanned the horizon with her bare eyes. Even without the Sharingan, Ichika's eyesight was impressive. The element of surprise had been completely erased, they were now forced to make a head first assault, and the rogue defenders had already begun to muster themselves and return fire. It was scattered, and imprecise in large part due to the damage being caused by Botan's jutsu, but it was not without discipline. The Uchiha wearily smiled as she gladly admitted to herself that she'd underestimated the cloud shinobi.

"Botan-san, do you believe you can maintain this jutsu for long enough for me to secure a foothold on the beach? My chakra reserves are beginning to run low, and as such I do not have the chakra remaining to both perform Hiraishin and secure a position for landfall. But I have a plan, and if you can keep it up, I believe it's possible." Ichika asked, a newfound trust in the cloud shinobi evident from her change in demeanor as she turned towards him as she spoke, arrows, kunai and ranged jutsu whizzing over and past their heads as they spoke. Crouching as she looked back towards the rallying defences almost immediately after, her Sharingan blazing to life.

"Mizuraki, you know that you are very dear to my heart. Thus I trust you, and now Botan too; to lead and protect the students in my absence." Ichika had continued. She wanted to give some words of encouragement to the students present, but the paled skinned woman had never been one for speeches, or heart to heart inspirational conversation. No, what Ichika knew she had to do to inspire those under her command was what she did best, and as such was sure that alongside Kamui's display of bravery and selflessness.

And that?

Was kill.

Kamui Kaguya
"Loyalty and honor above all else."
_______________________________________________

The young trio were still deciding on an approach when falling pebbles stole their attention. Kamui looked up and saw the large boulder Shumatsu had dropped on them. He jumped to the side as the rest of the team evaded the falling rock.

Shinda had created a rope for them to climb with his arrow. A brilliant idea, though Kamui didn't like the thought of hanging on by a lifeline. He'd prefer to keep his fate in his own hands. If he could scale the wall near the others, he'd be able to create footholds for them if they were to fall. He'd lift his hand and watch as phalanges protruded out of his fingertips. This technique was called Hollow Bullet, but he'd be modifying its application here. Instead of firing these bones like projectiles, he extended them and used them to dig.

"I will climb up beside the rope", he'd announce before jabbing knife hands into the stone and pulling himself up. The weight of his body is enough to force the earth down and create space for half a foot to step in.

One after another, he drilled into the stone and swam his way up the cliff. He stayed just beneath the others, planning to use his mobility to catch one of them should they lose their grip. His eyes stayed focus on the top of the cliff, which seemed to be much higher from this perspective. He'd have to channel all of his grit and determination to ensure his team made it to their destination on time.

He stopped for a moment to rest before shouting up to the others, "Should one of you fall, reach out and I will be here to catch you. There are also footholds along the trail following me."

"Thank you, Kamui." Oh thank the kami they had a plan, or as much as one as they were going to get. With Shinda providing rope and Kamui giving backup from the end of the line, Rei felt like it was his job to take the lead. He wasn't sure how he was suppose to break rocks like this, but he supposed that was just another kind of ability he should learn to master. Shockwaves to handle things that weren't people or animals. He wasn't going to be able to handle a whole as boulder, but he could figure out some of the smaller rocks. At the very least, maybe try to knock them off course or something….

Giving a heads up sounded like a better, more feasible option depending on the size. He stayed near the rope, making a point to do his best to find the best path to grip and climb. To his own surprise, he managed to fend off a few rocks from hitting himself or his teammates, and by the grace of his kami he wasn't knocked off balance badly enough to fall into his teammates. Things were good up until another large rock for Rei to yell for them to hear "Boulder going right!"

Please let rocks be it, he hoped.

ICHIKA UCHIHA “Peace earned through communication is just and true, but without the strong to protect those who would shepherd in such an age... Everything will be lost. Power is absolute.”
_______________________________________________

The concentration and strain present in the cloud-nin's posture was highly apparent, his muscles flexing and tensing as he spoke his reply; the jutsu seemingly requiring a great deal of effort to maintain. "I will... try to buy us time..." He had responded with a grunt and a nod, prompting Ichika to respond in kind, despite having not even looked back at Botan. The others likely didn't notice, as the back of her crimson armour was turned to the majority of them, but the Uchiha's eyes squinted and were strained with pain.

Without so much as another word, the maiden of the Uchiha broke into full sprint off of what would have been the bow, had they been aboard any ordinary vessel. But with a great leap from the head of Katsuyu, Ichika began focusing her chakra into her toes, landing in sprint on the water's surface at almost the maximum speed her natural physique would allow her. She did not enhance her physicality with her now relatively limited reserve of chakra as all shinobi ordinarily would. No, she knew that in order for her gambit to pay off, she would have to be meticulous with the expenditure of her chakra. One miscalculation. One missed step, and she would fail.

The ebbing flow of the oceans waves began to rustle and hasten, becoming more violent by the second as the woman ran ahead, closing in on the shore, her crimson visage like a streak of blood as she broke into full sprint. But moments later an enormous wave erupted from the surface, it was obvious to even an untrained eye that this was no natural occurrence. As the wave soared and climbed in height, Ichika closed in on what she could only assume was the combined jutsu of multiple lower class shinobi. Seconds before the mighty wave was set to collide with the Uchiha kunoichi, Ichika readied her wakazashi, and pooled an amount of chakra far greater than one would ordinarily use for such a simple technique as a nin-jump into her feet and lower legs.

With a deafening roar and an upwards thrust, Ichika propelled herself directly into the mighty wave. The increased force provided by the chakra jump allowing the point of her blade to break the surface tension of the wave, and for her body to cleave it's way out to the other side. With a tuck and roll in mid-air, Ichika flipped herself forward, instantly crossing her fingers and forming the seal for the shadow clone jutsu. In a puff of smoke, a physical apparition of the Uchiha jonin appeared beside the real one, and although this would be a heavy tax on her remaining chakra reserves...what she had remaining would have to be enough. he pair then landed feet first upon the back of the now monstrous wave, which was headed directly for the rest of the assault party, and slid down onto the now comparative flat of the ocean, continuing their charge.

The duo then began making serpentine movements, crossing over each others pathways numerous times as they advanced; in the same manner a conman with dice in a cup would in order to fool his victims. The speed at which the paired Ichikas repeatedly switched sides was awe-inspiring, allowing them to both evade incoming fire, of which there was plenty. But also to successfully cause the defending rogues to lose track of which Ichika was the real one. A storm of arrows, kunai and jutsu had begun to target the pair, demonstrating that the defenders were at the very least beginning to focus a significant portion of their fire upon the two women. In response, without any notice to the other whatsoever, they both began to weave seals, too fast to tell for what jutsu specifically, but it was clear that they were not the same series of motions. One of the kunoichi surged forward in a straight line even faster than the two had already been moving, and the other dived under the water's surface.

The two became like Yin and Yang as one made landfall onto the beach, and the other crept her way ever closer to the underwater shoreline. As she made contact, she activated her 'Hiding in Earth' jutsu, and began the peculiar shift of swimming in water, to swimming through land. Meanwhile above the surface, the Ichika whom had now made landfall slammed her hands into the ground and conjured forth a wide wall of earth from the sand. Creating a hefty area of cover for her comrades behind her, whom would surely not be too far behind now.

It had worked. Now, the rest...was up to the other one...

Eri Takeda“No matter what, someone is depending on you.”
_______________________________________________

Eri looked over her students, some much more battered than others, and folded her arms. This had been a rough first day for Rina, but she didn’t think Kimi came out unscathed either. Eri’s first day exercise was meant to lay insecurities bare, to force one to confront the issues that would weaken them both on and off the battlefield. However it might feel a little different doing that as an adult soldier, than as a teenage girl. It was harsh, but was it too harsh? To some degree you had to shelter children from the realities of the world, and to lead them gently when it was time… but when was right?

However Eri reasoned she’d never been the fragile or sheltered type. No, she’d practically raised herself as a kid, as well as… well, she supposed her adopted family. And she’d turned out alright! She was a strong, capable, beautiful woman, who didn’t need to rely on other people to get by. She could handle herself, unlike some. This genin team was an opportunity and a responsibility, and she wouldn’t let her genin grow up to be unreliable adults no matter what their parents were like.

She caught a bit of movement in the distance and looked sharply at the would-be intruders. Someone was approaching her group and interrupting her lesson. In the distance it appeared to be another Jounin and genin team, judging by the heights alone. Was there a scheduling error? Didn’t they know she’d reserved the training ground?

The identity of the team's leader at least, became apparent as the new group edged its way ever closer. It was Kenji Yamanaka, a student of the legendary ninja Kamoji from another generation, and as ever he sauntered and strutted with the grace and decor one would expect of a model, not a fully fledged shinobi and instructor of Konoha's academy. The warm breeze of the land of fire had begun to pick up, and his almost magnolia blonde hair began to flutter in the wind alongside his scarf. His arms stretched out as he drew close enough that he knew Eri Takeda would be able to recognise him. With a hop, skip and jump towards the larger genin team and a wide grin across his face; his arms still outstretched Kenji began to shout.

"TAKEDA-SANNNN! It has been far too long!" He proclaimed, a kind of boyish allure and infatuation present in his tonality as he spoke. Kenji's particular fancy for Eri was fairly common knowledge among the tutors of the academy and even ordinary jonin (if such a thing existed) of the leaf, having become somewhat of a running joke among them. There were scores of women, particularly among the Yamanaka and Hyuga of whom were highly suitable and found him desirable. But Kenji had eyes for only one, and every time he had received a boot or fist to his face after each and every one of his attempts at romantic escapades.

However today no such thing would occur, because if there was one thing that Kenji desired more than Eric's affection; it was her respect, and the respect of others as a peer in the arts of the shinobi. Above all else, despite his fleeting youth and romantic side. The Yamanaka valued professionalism. What kind of teachings would he inadvertently impart on his own students if he was unable to control himself?

He snapped to possibly the loosest and most casual salute the world had ever seen shortly after completing his brief initiation of reminiscence. Flicking his open palm towards Eri as he did so, giving a quick wink that was so fast that if one didn't know it was about to happen, they'd have been entirely unaware that it had occurred at all. Eri had responded to the salute seemingly almost on instinct, and with that the Tokubetsu-Jōnin had continued to speak.

"Alas, I come before you today on matters of great importance to the leaf. So I'm afraid we won't have a bunch of time to catch up. I've received direct orders from Lord Fourth himself to begin an investigation in the Uchiha sector. The details are…sensitive, but I thought given the makeup of your team that it may be pertinent for us to co-operate. I took the idea to Kamoji-Sensei, and he agreed wholeheartedly. You know what he's like."

Eri held back an exasperated sigh. Yes, she did know what Kamoji was like. Of course he would send his student to work alongside her on their first mission. How old was Kenji anyway? There was no way *she* was so old that... no, Kenji couldn't have been even 20 yet. He had to be a Tokubetsu. Had to. He still needed someone to show him the ropes. A responsibility Kamoji had abdicated to her, of course.

A joint mission could be a way she could help round out his training and mature a little into adulthood, thought Eri. But then again, that was the good-for-nothing's idiot's plan. Send his responsibilities and failures at her, knowing she'd take care of them while he lazed around. She may as well have been Kenji's jounin, considering how much time the boy spent in her presence over the years.

She was plenty used to Kenji repeating Kamoji's dumbest pick up lines and pranking her with romantic gifts, and it seemed now was no exception. She knew Kamoji found it the height of comedy to put a spotlight on her perpetual inability to get a boyfriend. It bothered her most not because of the jokes, no, that was just her lot in life by knowing Kamoji at all… but because Kenji suffered for it! It was a shame, as Kenji was no doubt talented enough to make Tokubetsu. He had a better teacher in life, one who wouldn’t enlist young, impressionable students to play dumb pranks and instead molded them into model ninja… well, who knows what he could have accomplished!

Well, Kamoji was right. She would take care of the responsibilities thrown at her. Because she was a good person.

Eri straightened her posture to military stance.

"It is good to see you, Kenji-san. Does the Lord Fourth know you are involving other people on this sensitive mission?" She asked firmly, but kindly.

"Kamoji-Sensei told me that he would inform the Hokage, as my orders also granted me a little bit of leeway when it comes to the composition of the team. Provided I chose an appropriate Jonin to assist me, I was told it would be fine, I guess this kinda thing is how they're plannin' on gauging my judgement? I think I've made the right call, there aren't many shinobi in the leaf more respected than you, Eri-swaaaaaan." He replied, his voice tailing off to a boyish flirt as he finished speaking. Leaning slightly towards the Takeda Jōnin before feeling himself back in with a smile, unbeknownst to him however, the youngest of his charges, Akira Senju, had been almost clinging to his legs and hiding behind the Tokubetsu-Jōnin. Kenji would have been lying if he said he wasn't slightly startled by his bumping into the boy.

Akira let out a sound vaguely akin to a squeal as his new sensei bumped into him, upon Team 2's arrival to the training ground he had instantly noticed the presence of Kimi and Rina, two Uchiha genin whom absolutely terrified him during their time together in the wonderful Hana-sensei's lessons. He had never quite been sure if they used to intentionally bully him in class, be it because he was a Senju or because he was younger and smaller than them, or if their natures were just so much different to his own that it made him uncomfortable and they didn't actually mean any ill will towards him; but neither option altered the extent of his fear of the two girls, who were his elder. The darkly dressed, ebony haired girls stood almost in stark contrast to the Senju boy, who wore natural colours and a brazen azure cloak. In fact the only thing they had in common were the colour of their eyes, once that devilish Sharingan of theirs was activated.

He kept tight behind Kenji's legs, peeking out at the imposing figure of Eri Takeda, before shuffling back behind his sensei, only to peek out once again to assess the other team. This continued for a few seconds as the rest of the two teams gathered around them. As Rashiku drew closer, Akira somewhat felt the tension in his body ease, their prior experience at Takayuki's home allowed the youngest of the present shinobi a degree of comfort around his teammates, especially given how well they had coordinated themselves without any form of communication.

Everything he knew about being a shinobi, and what was required of a three man cell, lead Akira to believe that he was quite safe when his friends were close. And for some reason, he had an unshaking faith in Kenji. Perhaps it was because he too, like Akira, was a younger man in the presence of peers whom were his elder.

Kamui was certainly an interesting team mate. But Shinda was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth as he continued up the path. At least when he inevitably fell off, he could already imagine Shumatsu cackling, he wouldn't splatter on the ground. Boulder going right was called up over him and Shinda scowled. This was not going well already, and dodging while climbing was harder then anticipated. Shinda didn't have much prepared in way of dealing with falling large objects and any delay like this was going to slow them down more and more. They needed a better plan. But he would have to figure something out about this boulder before that. Neither of his teammates seemed prepared or keen on throwing themselves at it.

"I've got this one." Reaching out to the rope the long haired shinobi wrapped it around his waste to support himself and lean back enough to aim his bow at the incoming rock. Shinda drew back his bow string, with nothing on it and released it. A burst of wind shot from the bow impacting the boulder, while it did next to zero noticeable damage, the boulder rotated slightly and flew back some missing the group and hurtling the rest of the way down the cliff side. Shinda took a steadying breath and readjusted his position on the cliff.

A voice from below had him glancing back at Kamui, the other suggested he add some impact to his arrows, and while Shinda was a little embarrassed not being prepared, he nodded seriously before handing back his quiver. He would have to prep better next time. While the wind release was certainly doable for him, he wasn't exactly at the point where he could use it frequently in any situation. He made a mental note to focus on that in training in his free moments. The team work was good though, it meant that they would be able to fill in lacking gaps. Maybe his brother intended this with this exercise...or maybe he was just being lazy and taking a nap at the top of the cliff or something. They continued their climb up to the top, and maybe Shinda was feeling a little confident. This team thing might be good for both himself and Shu.

"Rei let us know if you hear anything. There can't be that many boulders nearby it's going to be noisy if he needs to get more...or maybe he won't and it will be an easier climb." Or maybe he would throw a tree...Shinda banished the thought from his head or tried too. Shumatsu was kind of a dick...

Kamui Kaguya
"Loyalty and honor above all else."
_______________________________________________
The soreness in his fingers was soon quieted by a tingling, numb sensation. And, though you couldn't tell by looking, his biceps trembled as the burning gradually intensified. His attention was brought to Rei's voice warning about another boulder. Could he make it in time? Kamui had just begun to move for his sword when Shinda repositioned and drew his bow. With expert aim he was able to let out a blast of wind, which pushed the boulder over just enough to miss them.

Kamui let out a sigh of relief. He'd take a closer look at the archer's quiver, and an idea came to mind."Shinda, please allow me to hold your quiver. I may be able to augment the arrows in a way that serves us here."

He reached for the quiver as Shinda passed it down and rested it between his thighs. He'd have to move quickly. No telling when Shumatsu would get bored again and find another rock to throw. Using great caution, Kamui slipped the group of arrows out of their container until he could see the tips. He placed his thumb over his index finger and cracked a knuckle. This caused several strings of lightning to emerge and dance along his entire hand.

The lightning crackled as he passed his palm over each arrowhead and applied the same effect. He slid the arrows back into the quiver before deactivating the lightning from his hand and passing the arrows back up to Shinda. Hopefully they'd be able to take advantage of the earths natural susceptibility to lightning. And with any luck, the arrows would have the power to destroy any other falling deterrents.

Location: Training Ground 17Lumika Suto

Still cooling off from her recent celebrations, Lumika stood firm in the silence. She did her best not to show how uncomfortable the silence made her. She tried to fight off any insecurities that rammed their way into her mind. But she still could feel her brow begin to sweat as she imagined the judgment of Takeda-sensei and her peers. 'did I say something wrong? did I cross one of those invisible lines? I haven't been here long enough to master any of their foreign customs! Why is nobody-' The approach of another squad thankfully broke the silence of her first-day stress spiral.

Lumika let out an audible sigh of relief as the pale-haired man crested the horizon. Like a good soldier, Lumika kept her place like a post on the ground. 'Wow... I'm so lucky to be getting taught by Takeda-sensei! She is highly respected and can get compliments from boys without even trying! I bet she has lines of suitors waiting to give her flowers!' Lumika blushed as she imagined herself as a mature woman in a beautiful red kimono, lounging on a fist-shaped throne fanning herself, as lines of boys bring her boxes of fresh barbeque. A sudden squeal knocked Lumika out of her brief daydream. She looked around the training ground to find the source of the disturbance. It was the white-haired boy standing behind Kenji-san. Gripping his leg, he looked scared, or... infatuated with Kimi & Rina. Lumika was not quite sure which yet, as she was a complete novice in romance. But either way, the atmosphere seemed relaxed enough at this point that it would be okay to approach him.

Lumika took advantage of the boy's fixation on his peers and tried to casually sneak her way around behind the scared white-haired boy. Whether he notices her or not. She would open one of her snack seals and start eating some dried apple slices. After a sudden crunch, she says "Apple??" With a friendly toothy smile, holding out some slices to share. If she surprised him, she would giggle innocently. "Sorry... My name is Lumika Suto, You might know my sister Kuree. We're from Sunakage. What is your name?" she said still holding the apple slices out for him even if he hadn't taken any at this point. She was determined to share with him unless he outright refused.

Akira Senju“I'm gonna be the greatest Hokage ever! Just like Grandpa Hashirama!”
_______________________________________________

Akira had almost wet himself at the boisterous young blonde's sudden appearance at Kenji-Sensei's legs beside him, holding out a slice of emerald skinned apple, which incidentally had matched the girl's eyes. "APPLE?!" Akira had hear her say, although he was sure she had not sounded anywhere near as scary to the other's present. The Senju boy wasn't even sure if she had shouted it, but nevertheless he retreated behind the legs of his newly appointed team leader all the same. "Sorry... My name is Lumika Suto, You might know my sister Kuree. We're from Sunakage. What is your name?" She continued, which eased Akira's inordinate and unfounded fears. Slowly but surely, the Hokage hopeful crept out from behind the legs of his new instructor, rubbing his head with his left hand. "Hehe, sorry, you scared me. But you seem really nice!" said the boy, reaching for the slice with his left hand, blushing as he did so; before putting it into his mouth sideways and making a smile of the sliced fruit and squinting his eyes. His cheeks still bright red with embarrassment. "I'm Akira Senju, and one day I'm gonna be the Hokage! I promise! Where are you from? I don't think I've seen you around the village or in school before. Akira slightly choked as he asked the question, due to seemingly swallowing the piece of apple whole without intending to.

He heard his sensei give a boyish chuckle at his and Lumika's interaction before feeling the man rubbing the top of his head, saying "You get her, tiger." This made Akira's face turn a crimson red and weave the Rat, the Dog and ironically, the Tiger seals in order to bring forth a tiny wooden dome from the ground, encompassing himself within it in order to hide his embarrassment. Why does there have to be so many pretty girls?!

Quickly Akira energized Lumika with joy and excitement, Akira just made a bold promise to her! She couldn't wait to build off this enthusiasm! Before she could, confusion evicted joy and excitement. In what felt like seconds to Lumika, Akira's face turned bright red, and he enclosed himself in a dome of wood. Did she cross another invisible social barrier? 'I feel like I'm walking in a minefield today! What am I doing wrong?!? maybe Konoha is a more timid place than I expected... I definitely need to take some local etiquette classes'

Lumika stepped closer to the wood dome and cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted into the wood, she hoped Akira could hear her "Senju-san! Are you okay?!? why are you in there!? do you need some time alone!?" Lumika shouted. Lumika pressed her ear against the wood and listened for any response from Akira. While waiting she looked at Akira's teacher and asked "Do you know what just happened? Did you say something to him?" trying her best to sound quizzical and not accusatory; she was already worried people thought she was rude, she didn't need disrespectful added to the list.
