Quick Insight: This roleplay is going to be based on crime dramas along with actual inspiration from our reality. The stories will be guided by the GM (me) and the team that is willing to hop onto this investigation, experience the horrors, and figure out the end to the situation. Warning!!! This roleplay will not be for anyone under the age of 18 and it is highly recommended that people who have triggers and sensitivities do not join this roleplay for we will cover the whole 9-yards.

Rules

Listen to all standing site rules: I feel like this should be self-explanatory, but I always put it just in case. Please follow them and respect the staff of RPG.
No Metagaming: Metagaming, godmoding, whatever you want to call it is not allowed. This is when a person takes OOC discussions to help themselves in the roleplay or creates a perfect character. Please do not do these things since we will be playing regular humans on a heavy-hearted career path.
Replies: Replies will be required to be one-paragraph or 5+ sentences. To keep this roleplay up and going; I will require that everyone at least replies weekly or biweekly. Exemptions to the paragraph rules, so these rules can be cut in characters are in the conference room or situational (short topic scenes).
Ideas and final decisions: If you have an idea and really want to implement it, please talk to me. We can try to figure out your short story/case scene without many issues. Though I have to say it might not go the way you want or it can, depending on what you want that is. You have to remember even if it is guided to go the way you want (ending to catch the person or not) we have characters with natural errors and a GM who makes a final decision- this means things will never go as planned.
Consequences: Every action has consequences so make sure you know what you are doing. If your character shoots someone, if co-workers fall romantically in love, if people argue at work, and I could go on, but I won't. Actions can equal consequences, so make sure you are prepared for the situation you have put your character and yourself in. This is a roleplay in a world at least similar to ours and that means a lot of rules.
Enjoy yourself: Please have fun, that is what roleplaying is all about! If you are not having fun, talk to me. We can try to figure something out and never be scared to leave if we need to. I understand that serious, drama, and horrific roleplay's like this sound like a good idea, and sometimes it doesn't suit everyone's boat.

Warning Rule: Please do not post graphic images/content. I understand that we are in a crime drama roleplay, but others on the site do not wish to see the things that we want to even if it's fake. Everything should be written out in detail not shown through any other form of content.
However, you can do pictures that reference places. For example, if someone died in a street alley. You can put a picture of a street alley at night or in the day to set a scene with descriptions of what happened. You do not need to have a picture with a bloody body in an alleyway to set a scene.

You can put whatever you want in your character sheet. Down below are what is required in a character sheet for this roleplay.

As for face claims, please use real people.

If you have any topics that could be deemed sensitive, please, put them in a hider with a warning just so passerby's and site rules don't kill us.

All character sheets will be asked to be posted in the OOC for review before being moved over/placed into the character tab. Please and thank you.

Overall plot: The plot will change per case taken up by the team. Mainly I will be guiding and creating these plots. Though others can if they wish. Plots will not end unless the case is solved or the team agrees they cannot do anymore for the time being. Sometimes you have boring plots you can solve and other times you have intense grizzly plots that you have to give up on and come back later.

Upon decision there will be downtimes in between plots. Aka. People want to go on vacation, have a few days off, or have time-skips happen. Those will be circumstantial and agreed upon.

The IC/OOC is officially set up! You can go ahead and start creating characters. Hopefully, I will have mine up by tonight or sometime before the weekend. During this time, I will be working on the first case introduction to the roleplay and hopefully can have that up within the same time as my character for the IC starter.

I'll have my sheet up over the next couple of days. Thinking an older gentleman, maybe a former hostage negotiator or something like that.

I don't mind at all. Hop right into character building and any questions you might have, I'll answer to the best of my ability!

I'm leaning towards a young profiler right now. Will also have my sheet done within the next few days.

I'm thinking of a doing a play on the "Final Girl" slasher trope for my character. Where after surviving an experience with a serial killer she goes into law enforcement and forensics to prevent other's from suffering the same trauma

Go for it! It will fuel diversity and spice up interactions amongst the old versus the young.

That is definitely a good plan. Just don't play it unrealistically and what I mean by this, don't take offense. I have seen too many people have characters (in other roleplays of many different kinds) who go through tough situations and never hint or show it bothers them. Remember these characters will be people with emotions and whatever happened in their past even if they went through years of therapy could still bother them.
Aka, issues with medications working sometimes. Nightmares. Even if they do not ever express it to others or they try to hide it. Remember to add that stuff into roleplay.

For example, my character will definitely have some tough times since he went through being an expert sniper in the armed forces which gives him the traits of maybe being loud sometimes or too quiet. Even though he has had anger management and at least a year of therapy, he still has had issues with relationships since his wife died. There will definitely be some days since he lived as Josiah Greene for almost a decade; he might not answer to people calling him by his real name right away.

So what I am trying to say is if that's a big part of your character think about the character's quirks they could pick up from such a situation happening in their life even if it was years ago.

I imagine she used to be a very happy go lucky Legally Blonde kind of gal but afterwards it forced her to mature and a more withdrawn, reserved person. She lost a lot of good friends and now has trouble finding new ones, and she would've went through a few years of therapy until she was functional enough to be in public again.

The killer was still at large and one of the reasons she went into law enforcement was to track them down, but by the time she had entered her career the case had become cold, she hit a brick wall in the investigation and was simply had to settle with the fact that sometimes, terrible things happen to you and never get resolved. So she tries to help other people instead.

As for quirks. She sleeps with a firearm under her pillow, has a heavy distaste for blood and violence. Has to take medication and see a therapist on sundays. It has definitely effected her life in a significant way, though I know she's also apart of a professional team and would have to have some level of stoicism to simply keep working efficiently.

Awesome! I am glad that you are able to think about what was and what it can become. You can definitely start writing your character if you want to since I believe that you will do good with it! For the stoicism, most have to be somewhat of that in this line of work.

If you have any more questions, ask or ideas.

Also, if you ever want it to pop up in a future case/plot. We could always have her attacker pop up in one of the future plots (I feel like that would be a plot for a day when the characters are comfortable or at least relaxed professionally with each other.)

It could be a copy-cat killer too, if we need a twist.

A question I have is how traumatized should I have her be vs how professional. Since too much and it doesn't make sense for the character to be working, and if it's too little it runs into the problem you mentioned earlier where the trauma is being ignored ooc-ly

I think for her to be an agent it would have to be pretty under control. You'd have to figure out what her triggers would be like how certain cases bothered the different agents across the three Criminal Minds shows. Reid had bullying or Derek had priests and molestation.

Just like Lord said, functional. You have expressed that it will be functional with our short talk. She will need to be functional and professional enough that it doesn't usually show though certain cases will cause it to pop up. Like Lord's example, all criminal mind characters had their triggers and you will figure yours out too.

You will do good. Don't worry!

Making my sheet right now. Definitely leaning towards a JJ inspired character. Someone who has is a bit of a maternal figure for the group but with some of the sass that Garcia always used to keep things light. :)
