@SleepingSilence Don't watch the Dragon's Dogma anime on Netflix then. On another note I am enjoying One Punch Man right now.

And despite my ambivalent feelings toward Edgerunners, it was clearly a success. (In garnering interest back into a product with bad PR.) So, maybe now that this is the third time something like this has been positively received on Netflix, they'll make these instead of those shitty live action anime movies. >.>

I dunno why everyone gives CD: Projekt Red so much shit. I mean, they're the best advertising firm I know: They've managed to convince people that they make good games for the past 15 years!

The greatest trick Edgerunners ever pulled was convincing gamers that 2077 wasn't a fucking trashfire.

Like everyone's all like "Wow this game isn't actively on fire anymore, I thought it was bad!" but forgetting the fact that it was pulled from digital stores for like eight fucking months and no amount of polishing can fix the core of that game being an Ubisoft style open world with very little in the way of actual role playing!

But hey, it wouldn't be the first time fans of an anime overreacted to something!

It's really funny you mention that, because that's what my roommate and were actually really, solidly in agreement over in regards to Edgerunners: A lot of how it depicts Night City is far beyond anything you got in the actual game. It's a trashy, run-down dump where you can find hobo camps making a living digging through trash compactors literally right behind the prestigious corposchool. She thought that this was a lot closer to what the creators really wanted it to look like.

And we were just talking about how none of this was in the game itself, and the whole time we're just going, "Man, all this really does just make 2077 look even shittier in retrospect."

I know bad anime tends to have the exact opposite problem of bad western shows. In that its hack writers are giving people exactly want they want.

But after trying to watch, and eventually skimming through the entire montage episode of "Reincarnated As A Sword." It was just insufferable to sit through. (It was just the Spider anime all over again. But the MC is now a far more obnoxious, mass murderer, without the actual need to kill. Including the slice of life Isekai staple of having the overpowered MC adopting his own slave girl.)

Point is, I really hope this upcoming season has better "good shows" than this.

But to review the few anime that I actually finished...

Summertime Rendering is the best kind of anime that improves upon its source material. And its one of the few anime's in recent memory that ended satisfyingly.

Made In Abyss' Second Season might not have been the strongest in terms of logical writing. But it still makes for a compelling watch for the most part.

Also, Crunchyroll apparently paid their English voice actors only $300 bucks for the Jujutsu Kaisen movie.

Just another story of how good they've been to the anime industry.

Narrator: There was not. But at least you get another season of Mob Psycho and Chainsaw Man...

So...

What's everybody else watching?

With the exception of Bluelock. (A so far non-typical sport anime.) I've dropped nearly every show I've started this season.

So I've been looking for more things to watch...

Thus, here's a few of many animated shorts I looked at yesterday.
