Name: Tandy Bowen
Alias: Dagger
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Tandy is 5’5 and 115 lbs, with blue eyes and long blonde hair, with an unusual light color mark forming a C around her right eye. Physical genetics were kind to Tandy, thanks in part to a supermodel parent.
Personality: Outgoing, friendly, flirty, but misses being ‘normal’
Powers: Lightforce generations, she generates “living light” generally in the form of daggers. She steals some lightforce which can weaken opponents, and can usually control the daggers to stun, paralyze or kill. Light manipulation, lightforce purge (she can remove toxins or drugs from a person’s system), weakness: Her lightforce only works on living beings. She couldn’t for example throw a dagger through a door or use it to pry something open. She can become agitated or feverish if she collects too much or loses too much lightforce. Lightforce can be addicting. She has to control the amount she drains from someone, as the more she collects, the more ‘drunk’ belligerent she can become.
Skills:She has had years of classical ballet training,
History:Tandy grew up wanting for nothing except love. Her self-centered ex-model mother Melissa and Roxxon exec father Nathan were miserably married, spending most of their together time in spectacular fights that often culminated in police visits. She often retreated to her room with headphones to dance to avoid hearing the fighting. At 14, her father was driving her home from ballet while arguing with someone from Roxxon about an oil rig danger. As he heard the rig explode, the distraction caused him to swerve into a semi, sending the car careening off a bridge into the water. Nathan, was unconscious, and Tandy began to panic as the car started to sink. Something in the falling debris, a wave of energy gave her the strength to escape, saving her father in the process. Nathan Bowen believed he was saved by divine intervention, and set off to find spirituality, but not before draining his family finances to donate. Melissa, who had once relied on youth and looks now found herself in a dire situation. She quickly re-married Phillip, Nathan’s co-worker/best friend from Roxxon. Phillip made uncomfortable advances on Tandy which Melissa turned a blind eye to. Fearing for her safety, Tandy left, catching a bus to New York with no plan in mind. Outside of the Port Authority terminal, Tandy was almost robbed, but saved by a young homeless boy named Tyronne Johnson. She bought him food, and they became friends.
They survived on the streets, selling everything Tandy had brought with the exception of her ballet shoes. They aren't proud of it, but they survived however they could, generally by stealing until they were rounded up like stray dogs, and injected with an experimental drug D-Lite, she and Tyronne would be the only two that survived. Whatever happened to Tandy in the lake grew stronger, and with a bit of practice, learned control of her powers. Tyronne learned had powers, and the two would then team up to help other kids from suffering the same types of fates. They targeted anyone who preyed on the cities vulnerable youth, but Tyronne’s power was out of control. The older they got, the stronger they became. They based their operations out of a church in New York, where a priest was concerned that Tyronne’s powers were dark magic or demon based. As Cloak grew, was not able to stop his darkness from becoming all consuming, and the priest turned to Dr. Strange for help. It was Dr. Strange and Wong who would take Tyronne to the mirrorverse where he remains. Tandy would stay on with Strange for a bit, later joining the Avengers.
Sample Story lines: Tandy has yet to find/confront the person responsible for killing her and Tyronne’s friends with his experimental drug.
Roxxon Corporation - I see them as purveyors of some shady things, Tandy’s father will be under investigation for whatever happened the night of the explosion.
Tandy’s father’s storyline. He would gain his own powers from the incident in the lake, using them for evil instead of good, he believes himself to be a god.
Extra/Notes: I combined a bit of the the short-lived Cloak and Dagger series with the comics. I know Dagger was an Avenger during the Civil War series, but I’m willing to make any changes.
