She is the most recent field leader of the X-Men, a member of the original five, and a mutant leader that's become one of the faces of Krakoa to the wider world and mutants making their way to the island. All of that before a mention of a certain cosmic force. Perhaps more importantly for the future, Jean is one of the very few mutants Krakoans could trust to challenge any faction or member of leadership on the island should need arise. Her story starts as a girl, the car crash on an old two-line highway. She remembers more of it than she'd like, the heat and the concrete and the glass and the blood. The crash began the slow cascade of psychic episodes, culminating in terrified parents calling everyone from trusted clergy to pseudo-specialists out to the family's farmhouse on the Annadale-on-Hudson river. When Jean looks back, now, she understands. As a child, however, loss and death were insurmountable cliff faces she would have to climb each day. It's occurred to Jean recently that there's no telling when extra-dimensional forces might have been nudging her life in one direction, or another. She knows from experience from other timelines and time-travelers that her presence on the first team of X-Men made a difference in the vast multi-verse.

Her first meeting with Xavier was rather unspectacular. He won over her parents well before her won her over. There's no understating what Charles Xavier did to save Jean during the early years. Her drift towards the great void had already begun by the time he even met her, providing a small window of time to help bring Jean back to life. Experiencing death, and the full trauma of it from her own perspective, was enough to send Jean Grey running the ethereal and astral in search of anything, or anyone. She mostly found memories, psychic reflections of reality that burn like small stars, but after enough time she began to experience the echoes of others. Xavier states this is when he came to discover Jean Grey, the telepath. The best account is Xavier's, "the reason she was on the team, the reason she became so central, was because we didn't know the upper-limits of her ability. Yet few know the utility of that mutant gift such as I do." Regardless of intention, Jean spent most of the first few years ducking for cover and yelling for help. It was a disaster. Xavier insisted on having her focus on constant connection to him, to updates to team, to psychic defenses.

It was thankless work that no one but Xavier needed and it almost got her killed a few times. Despite their success, there was hope before Krakoa. The island will forever mean something a little different to Jean Grey. She spent the years in darkness combating the island. She was a main architect in expelling it from the planet. At one point, it had gotten personal with Krakoa and Jean Grey. Where that leaves them today is an unknown wrinkle. The team hit it's stride after Krakoa, new additions, and new dynamics in the Institute. Jean officially graduates Xavier's and begins at Bard College. She will finish a Bachelor's in Biology, all the while remaining a part time X-Men when the team needed her. She was a week from graduating when a mission in space to escape Sentinels sent to kidnap and kill them forced Jean to make a sacrifice and pilot an escape shuttle in extreme radiation conditions. Scott claims to watch her die, minutes before the Phoenix Force resurrects her and keeps her friends safe. The Phoenix Force lost itself in Jean, twisting Jean's darker aspects into the Dark Phoenix.

What started as an attempt at mind control ended in the destruction of a star system and the death of billions, all directly from actions taken by the Dark Phoenix. Logan claims to watch Jean sacrifice herself in order to rob the Phoenix Force of it's precocious 'host.' Jean Grey would disagree in that she died. According to her, she ascended upon her physical death, her interconnected nature with the Phoenix Force, at the time, making any true death an impossibility. She admits to those who have asked that it's hard to merge how people see time and space, and how she and time and space were during her time with the Phoenix Force, after her apparent death. She had died and returned more times than she could, she saw and experienced variations of reality that simply did not belong to the the normal timeline, or any parallel timeline she had seen before. She had been there for Scott when he needed her reassurances most. She appeared for Logan when there was no reason for him to want to keep going. In time, to a very small select few, it became a known secret that Jean Grey was dead, maybe forever.

But she wasn't gone. Even as other Phoenix hosts came to be and fell back, she was an absolution as the White Phoenix of the Crown.

Her return would come recently, in 2015. Her return would immediately get her friends and loves ones in danger, as the Shi'ar Empire would demand her arrest and trial for the deaths caused by the Dark Phoenix. After the many pleas of her close friends, Jean accepted trial-by-combat. X-Men, vs the Shi'Ar Imperial Guard. Though the X-Men are an amazing team of individuals with astonishing powers and more experience together than most, it wasn't enough to defeat the Imperial Guard. In the end it was Jean who challenged the Imperial Guard's leader in single combat. The amount of energy Jean Grey released in those moments was enough to shake the very foundations of the universe; she had done the impossible and won her freedom. Though she promised to continue being a hero and saving as many lives as she had caused the death of, the shadow of the Phoenix is a long, dark, thing. The finishes up the break with the Phoenix, working with the Cuckoos and Emma Frost to free Hope Summers of any possible Phoenix possession. The latest iteration of the X-Men was her team, resulting in success against a reality bending foe.

Jean died in 2019, a secret known only to Xavier and Magneto and Storm. She, along with all the other mutants who died destroying the Mother Mold being created by Orchis in their Forge, were resurrected later using Krakoan resurrection protocols. The mission is a partial success. The mutant circuit responsible for resurrection, the Five, do note unusual difficulty, at parts, and unusual ease, at other parts, in returning Jean Grey to life. Jean has recently been named a member of the Quiet Council, and spends most of her time helping Krakoan missions from X-Force to X-Factor to the Marauders. She has easily been one of the busiest, and most visible, mutants of the new age.



Jean is an Omega level telepath, and an Alpha level telekinetic of immense power.



The Immortal X-Men A mistake by X-Force costs a lot of innocent lives, and drives two original X-Men farther apart than their relationship has ever been as the very soul of Krakoa, the nation, is debated. Cerebra is discussed in greater detail, and an uninvited visitor attempts a lunar walk to access the real power behind what Cerebra has become. Scott and Jean question their place on the Krakoan Quiet Council, wondering if Krakoa, and mutants as a whole, need them doing something else. Something different.

Ripley Ryan has had two different lives. The public life is that of a pretty faced, Alpha girl who excelled in school and her social life growing up in the Texas country side. Star athlete in both cheer and basketball, as well as Editor and Columnist of her school’s newspaper; a gig that landed her becoming the ‘Millennial Voice’ columnist for her rural Texas county’s newspaper. This led to occasional spots on the local Fox affiliate weekend news.

The private life was torture and abuse. First was the trauma of her father’s sexual abuse when she was far too young to understand what was happening; this fact never did stop her mother from, privately, blaming the destruction of her marriage on her daughter for the rest of her life. Second came the broad spectrum of abuse inflicted on Ripley’s mother, a pageant and stage mom who did everything possible to make sure Ripley won crown after crown; be it starving the child, emotional abuse, or, on the rare occasion, actual physical abuse.

When Ripley started high school, her mother announced Ripley would be quitting pageant competition. Relief for Ripley was quickly lost as her mother’s next obsession became known; Ripley’s mother had ambitions to be a Reality TV star, and was convinced turning Ripley into a social media starlet was the path forward, becoming a demanding and cruel social media parent, officially acting as Ripley’s ‘manager.’

By the end of high school, Ripley would boast a total follower count across social media platforms of over a hundred thousand. It provided an income that her mother kept to herself, and sometimes at the cost of her mother setting Ripley up on ‘business meetings’ with men twice, or three times, her age. Ripley was able to siphon some of the money for herself when she started college and moved away, to Florida State University’s Broadcast Journalism school. After a few years in the program, her portfolio of on-air work, both before and in college, allowed her to become an intern at Fox News. Upon graduation, Fox News signed her to an on-air personality contract.

While college had provided Ripley some the first positive relationships of her life, Fox News provided a true mix; her Senior Producer was a good, conservative, man. Some of her Junior Producers were far less upstanding, and her fellow on-air personalities were outright viciously competitive. Despite this, Ripley became a favorite of her conservative audience, becoming a major field reporter for Fox News and Fox Sports, even being one of the main floor reporters for the Republic National Convention. She was well on her way to becoming a conservative media star.

It was on assignment for Fox News covering a metahuman situation in New York city that she was kidnapped by Nuclear Man and taken to Roosevelt Island. Ripley was only one of many human women kidnapped by Nuclear Man, paid in secret by Kree geneticists Dr. Minn-Erva for specimens to experiment on. Of the experiments, the only survivor left when heroes such as Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, and Echo arrived was Ripley.

Although Ripley believed the experiment had given her superpowers, in reality the experiment had infected her with an alien bio-engineered virus that was activated and fueled by her ‘mirroring’ the super-powers of the hero that showed up to control the situation a ‘super-powered’ Ripley Ryan was creating in Manhattan; Captain Marvel. With the virus fueled and activated, Captain Marvel had to act quickly to stop Ripley from spreading the virus to the island of Manhattan by stopping her before she got too charged.

However, Ripley would retain the ‘mirrored’ power-set from Captain Marvel for nearly a year. During this period of time, Ripley would be used as a puppet by Minn-Erva, hellbent on using both Ripley, now re-branded by the fanatical Kree cell under Minn-Erva as ‘Star’, and Captain Marvel in a fight for the Kree Empire against their Skrull invaders. When the truth become known to Ripley, she nearly killed Minn-Erva, with the Kree geneticist only surviving due to Ripley’s lack of experience.

Captain Marvel would save Minn-Erva’s life by getting her medical attention in the nick of time. In return, Minn-Erva admitted her plot, and her role behind her pawn, Ripley ‘Star’ Ryan. This led Captain Marvel to confront Star in Times Square. Although their fight would end with Captain Marvel talking Star down, the collateral damage and, worse, the recordings of the fight would lead Ripley in legal trouble with the government, and to being fired for ‘due cause’ by Fox.

Luckily, she was alive. This was one of the only ‘lucky’ parts for Ripley, as the incident marked the end of her career with Fox, despite Fox News using the incident as fuel on its ongoing attacks on the Avengers for leaving US authority with the move to Avengers Mountain in the Arctic Circle. It led to the complete loss of any super powers, leading Ripley with no other option than to return home in rural Texas, and the unholy wraith of a scorned, neglected, abusive mother.

A Glock pistol to her temple was Ripley Ryan’s answer. When the gun shot, the shell bounced off her. A confused Ripley suddenly appeared as ‘Star’ once more, just as powerful, perhaps more so, than she had ever been. Landing atop the Fox News building in Manhattan, Star felt on top of the world…until she was promptly knocked unconscious. When she came to, it was Loki standing over, cursing and sighing at her. He explained he had tried to extract it from her, and had no idea how she came into possession of it. It was, somehow, literally intertwined with her essence. When Ripley asked what he was talking about, he simply laughed, and told her: the Reality Stone. If she didn’t know what that was, and she didn’t, she’d find out soon as others came for her. With that, the Trickster God left her.

Star continued trying to do what she could to be both a hero and social media star. Though she did some real good, she was unknowingly damaging reality, a fact she did not learn until the Scarlet Witch showed up and told her. Captain Marvel responded to Wanda’s alert, and the two restrained Star while Wanda attempted to come up with a plan to extract the Infinity Gem. Before anything could be decided, the Black Order showed up and attacked, providing a window for Star to escape and disappear. As soon as Star was gone, the Black Order disappeared, leaving Captain Marvel and the Scarlet Witch with the dreadful realization that Star and the Black Order had, on some level, worked together.

Using her conservative media stardom, Ripley Ryan managed to secure a meeting with several high ranking Republican members of Congress. The deal struck was that all charges against Ripley would be wiped from the record, in return, Star would become a metahuman enforcer for a joint effort between the Department of Defense, and the National Security Agency.




On the surface, Star appears to have a very similar powerset to Captain Marvel. This includes flight, energy projection, as well as superhuman durability, strength, agility, reflexes, stamina, endurance, and regeneration.

She can fly at speeds comparable to Captain Marvel, though lacks a pilot’s training, let alone Captain Marvel’s experience with her powers. Likewise, while Star’s strength level is comparable to Captain Marvel’s, once again she lacks the training and experience to make full use of this strength.

While she is not capable of Captain Marvel’s Binary state and related powers/abilities, Star has one thing no other metahuman in the universe has: the Reality Gem literally bound to her. Although she seems totally oblivious how to control it, the Reality Gem seems to go where her subconscious thoughts point it. This alone has made Star one of the most dangerous, and powerful, metahumans on the planet…if not the universe.



Government Contractor — Star finds herself on the frontlines of the US government’s disagreements with the Avengers, Krakoa, and their primary ‘heavy hitter’ when one is required to respond to a metahuman situation.

Friends In Low Places — The Black Order and Star still communicate. They are teachers, they are guides, and they are bored out of their minds being stuck hiding on Earth. But, at least, with Star they have access to an Infinity Gem. What do they plan to do with that? Surely, nothing altruistic.

Project: Thunderbolts — Star has been given a governmental civilian paygrade (read: rank) of Senior Level Service, cleared for confidential briefings up to Top Secret. The first briefing she received was for the project of that joint Department of Defense / National Security Agency effort: Project Thunderolts.

Appearance: Aya is a green eyed, blonde haired girl of Japanese descent, though arguably her most prominent features are her fox ears on the top of her head and the seven tails protruding from her rear. People tend to notice those first.
Powers: Aya has a range of powers that appear magical and supernatural in nature, her powers seem to be mainly tied to her physical, mutant characteristics, her tails. Every time she's grown a new tail she's either gained a new power or her current powers have become stronger.

Fox-fire: Aya can summon blue orbs of fire that float around her, she can launch them at will in any direction, the orbs burn with an supernatural heat and explode on impact.

Animalistic Physiology: Aya's five senses are superior to a normal humans. In addition, her speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, and strength are greater as well, though most others with enhanced strength/agility probably have her beat.

Two forms: Aya can shapeshift into the form of a fox with seven tails, she can use this to slip into smaller spaces and that's about it. She also cannot speak as a fox, though someone with telepathy could still communicate with her.

Illusions: Aya can conjure illusions that can fool the fives senses, typically using them to disguise herself or otherwise slip away unnoticed, or to pull an epic prank. Simple illusions are as easy as breathing, but the more complex ones require much more focus and concentration on her part.

Conjuring: Aya can create and/or manipulate inanimate objects. Such as creating a stick out of thin air or transforming a normal piece of paper into money. Any object she transforms will eventually revert however, and objects she creates will eventually 'poof' out of existence. The largest object she has been able to create/manipulate is roughly the size of a small car.

History: Aya was born to a rich, Japanese couple in Kyoto, Japan. Her mutant traits were immediately apparent, but due to her fox-like features making her look similar to the mythical kitsune her human parents saw this as a blessing of Inari rather than something to be scorned.

Her father was a business man that worked in America, and so Aya ended up being raised in New York for a good portion of her childhood, and became fluent in both Japanese and English as a result. Despite being a mutant her parents protected her from any discrimination and hate from humans, sheltering her heavily and schooling her mainly through private tutors. Seemed money could solve just about anything.

Being sheltered has it's downsides of course, a lack of friends to hang out with for one. Due to this Aya ended up spending a significant amount of her time online and using social media, prides herself on knowing the latest memes and being 'based'. She even ended up becoming a streamer and vlogger, and now at nineteen she's been set loose into the world oh no.

Personality: Aya is somewhat of a hedonistic, tending to go for whatever she thinks is enjoyable at the time. She enjoys teasing and messing with people and likes to confuse people in order to get her way. She does this all in good fun of course, while she was most certainly spoiled she isn't particularly bratty. She is fairly social and surprisingly easy to make friends with, if they can put up with her antics.

Weaknesses: While quite internet savvy, Aya is fairly naïve about the real world due to how sheltered and protected she was, and does not fully grasp that some people will hate her due to her being a mutant. Her antics and pranks can get her into serious trouble if she takes them too far. She has zero combat experience, better at running away than actually getting into a fight.

Powers.
Dr. Strange has a vast and versatile array of spells and mystical abilities, augmented by his arsenal of magical artifacts. They range from the stereotypical options such as flight, energy blasts, shields, teleportation, and astral projection, to more esoteric charms and curses. All magic must be powered by something, and some of Strange’s most potent spells draw from entities that can demand a heavy toll on the user if abused. Strange is also still a human, with all of the weaknesses that entails, and invoking magic frequently requires him to be able to make certain gestures or utter certain phrases. Aside from his magical skill, Stephen also has great medical knowledge and a mind for thinking of creative strategies on the fly, and is an expert martial artist.

History.

Stephen Strange drove himself to become the world’s greatest neurosurgeon due to guilt from his sister’s death. A car accident damaged his nerves and forced him to abandon his surgical career, he searched for a cure and after many failures he came to Kamar Taj, where he studied under The Ancient One. He quickly became a Master of the Mystical Arts and claimed the title of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, defending the planet from magical threats. Over the years he’s met other sorcerers, fought invasions from other realms, joined superhero teams, had over a dozen people/otherworldly entities add him to their “mortal enemies” list, been involved in a complicated romance with a sorceress from the Dark Dimension named Clea that still isn’t resolved because neither is sure how to properly handle divorce procedures for a magical soul bond, gained new powers, lost new powers, made some questionable fashion choices and helped save the world a couple of times.

The most recent disruption to Strange’s life came unexpectedly. The Sorcerer Supreme’s role had been quiet lately, Baron Mordo was dead (for the time being), Dormammu was losing a Dark Dimension civil war badly enough that he had no time to mess with Earth, the Fear Lords had some kind of falling out and were fighting amongst themselves, and Shuma-Gorath was doing whatever he does when he’s not actively trying to devour everything. All was well, until the Vishanti called him for a great mystical war, the War of the Seven Spheres. He tried to resist but was pulled in anyway, into a dimension where time did not flow as it did in mortal realms. The war lasted millennia, scarring Strange’s psyche from the extreme length and constant fighting, but when he returned to Earth only four months had passed, and his body was none the worse for the wear. In his absence, Wong had assumed the role of Sorcerer Supreme and done an admirable job of defending the realm. Now Strange is adrift, searching for what to do and dealing with the lingering effects of the epic conflict, trying to find a role for himself in a rapidly changing world.

During the war Strange saw a vision about who the next Sorcerer Supreme would be. He hasn’t fully decoded it or unraveled the other meanings hidden within, but he knows that it could have grave implications for the future. He’ll try to find this next holder of the title, but what will be left for him after this, and what else will he uncover on his quest?

Dormammu I’ve Come to Bargain (for real this time)
Strange attempts to negotiate a lasting peace treaty between Earth and the Dark Dimension. That’s going to be a challenge, and one that he would prefer not to take up alone. He’s going to have to sit down with some of his bitterest and most duplicitous foes, and also his ex-wife. People say it’s impossible, but Strange is no stranger to doing the impossible.

Powers.

Machine Brain: Sage’s mind is not a literal computer, but is closer may be closer to one than any other organic brain on earth. It has granted her extremely fast processing speed, excellent multitasking and photographic memory. She has used this to develop a great deal of physical and mental skills, especially those related to espionage.

Telepathy: Sage is a skilled telepath. Her greatest ability is her extremely strong psychic defense, manifesting as a powerful firewall that can reflect psychic attacks back at less adept opponents.

Genetic Sight: Sage can get some insight into people’s genetics and potential by close contact. In the past, she has even been able to “jumpstart” dormant mutations in other mutants, though in most cases nothing happens.

History.
Tessa’s history with X-men started when she was just eighteen and met Professor Xavier in the mountains of Afghanistan. She was the first to find him after his legs had been crushed by a boulder, and he noticed her mental talents. He began to train her when the X-men were only a vague idea in his mind; and he found a place she could use her talents: espionage. Tessa became Xavier’s mole inside the Hellfire Club, rising to be a trusted advisor to their leader, Sebastian Shaw. She worked with Shaw and Emma Frost to outwit the telepathic billionaire Elias Bogan in a high stakes game of chance, forming a lasting grudge. Years later, Bogan would exact his revenge by kidnapping and torturing her, until she was rescued by Storm.

From then on, Tessa joined up with Storm and adopted the name Sage, becoming part of the team Storm assembled to search for a set of prophetic diaries left behind by the precognitive mutant Destiny. Her time with Storm’s steam saw encounters with foes such as the international terrorist Viper, the mutant hunting cyborg known as The Fury, and another showdown with Elias Bogan.

After M-Day, Sage moved to England and joined Excalibur. This diversion turned into a dimension hopping excursion with the Exiles, leading to a lot of experiences Sage is still processing. At various points she peered into the blackbox of a Celestial, visited a world where humans were wiped out by robots, had an interdimensional guardian dump a heap of cosmic knowledge into her head, and helped the team battle no less than ten evil alternate reality version of Xavier.

After all of the multiversal travel, Sage returned to Earth and laid low for a while, working in the background until recent events. With the establishment of Krakoa, Sage has become a key part of the island’s operations. She helps to manage the island’s gateway network, and is one of the members of X-Force, Krakoa’s department in charge of clandestine operations.

Tessa's mind has taken a lot of unresolved damage. She's done her best to patch over it, but incidents like the time The Fury hijacked her mind and turned her against her teammates or the massive information dump from Roma have created corners that even her machine brain doesn't dare examine. What is buried can never stay that way, and if it resurfaces at the wrong time it could potentially turn a key piece of Krakoa's security into an internal threat

History: Troy Deacon was born and raised in Harlem, New York City. Though most in his family were on the path of remaining in the concrete jungle, Troy aspired to see the world. Even in his childhood, he was ambitious with his father playing a pivotal part in his work ethic. Like his father who worked for the city conducting maintenance to the New York City subway system, Troy viewed himself as "just another."

His father was a positive role model but he spent many hours working and resting for another day of arduous labor. Not wanting that kind of life for himself and with a lack of financial stability, he forged his own path by enlisting in the US Army as an infantryman. It was not the best occupation but it came with a contract bonus at an amount he'd never seen in his bank account, even after the taxes hit. His parents weren't agreeable to the life choice but they knew they couldn't stop him. He was too stubborn and was considered a man by this time. In hindsight, Troy might have given up every dollar of that bonus if he knew what would follow.

After his initial training, Troy found himself stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 82nd Airborne Division. Like the rest of his upbringing, he never considered himself gifted, and would instead describe himself as he always had… "just another" soldier in the line of duty. Despite that belief, he was considered a top performer in his unit and a few perks in the form of additional military schooling came with it. Nothing flashy but he was on the path to eventually putting his hat into becoming a Ranger. Unfortunately, destiny had different plans for him. Before he could apply for selection, he received orders to deploy to assist with a peacekeeping mission involving rioting protests over the Avengers announcing their neutral stance on Krakoa, and in none other than his home city.

He found the mission to be a little beneath him if not a hassle as he and a contingent of his unit assisted the New York National Guard and the New York City Police to bring some semblance of order to the city. What made matters worse was that there were people on both sides. During some moments he held frustration for those against Krakoa, in others he held frustration against those that were for the new nation… and then there were the few times he wished the Avengers had just shut their fucking mouths about it, to begin with. Troy didn't even have time to see his family when he was so close to them now than he'd been in over two years. It couldn't be helped, however. Troy was just another person tied to the effects of people's pride and fears. Only this time he couldn't shoot away his enemies or his problems.

Right place, right time? Maybe… or maybe he tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and accidentally kicked a black cat underneath a ladder and into a mirror. Good or bad, his life would be changed forever.

He and his squad were responding to a gang of rioters escalating tensions in Time Square. The group his squad came upon appeared to be very different from the usual rowdy protesters. They were fitted in strange black equipment and had access to superhuman abilities. Little did Troy and the other soldiers know, these were members of the Cult of X and not just ordinary members either, they were artificially enhanced, former U-Men. With their sealed helmets and armor, CS gas and rubber bullets only pissed the fuckers off and drew their attacks toward his squad. Outmatched and as his squad was downed one by one, he found himself outnumbered. It wasn't long until he was hit hard by one of the U-Men that had some form of enhanced strength before being thrown high into the air. As he fell he could only be reminded of a time he performed a bad jump during an airborne mission. Only this time he was too close to the ground with no janky parachute or reserve to save him. No time for some haphazard prayer or even a flash of his life before his eyes. Just concrete.

Instead of death, something else caught him. Someone else caught him. The blonde woman adorned in red and white carried him through the air as if he was as light as a handbag across several blocks before setting him down. As he looked at her in awe, she rhetorically asked if he was okay before flying into the fret.

Strangest thing is if he would have answered "yes" he'd be lying. As brief as it was, she did something to him unbeknownst to both of them. Troy and his squad were pulled from the line of duty that day. If only that was the end of his troubles. During his debrief of the events that transpired, a chromatic construct of a large fist appeared flying toward his chest before shattering into nothingness. It frightened him and the military officer questioning him enough to postpone the debriefing. It wasn't until several hours later that someone not in uniform sat across from him with different questions. The man wore the sharpest black suit he'd ever seen while also wearing an eerie aura mystery.

How long have you had your powers? Are you a mutant? What are your thoughts on Krakoa? All the questions received almost the same answer. Some form of "I don't know"

The last question was easier.

“With this potential liability I don't think you're fit to serve your country in that uniform. Mostly like a "change of lifestyle" chapter… but if we can find out the nature of your powers, and if they are of use, would you be interested in serving your country in another way?”

Powers: Construct Creation

Builder - Troy can create chromatic-colored constructs seemingly out of nowhere. He can form the shapes of things that are familiar to him. The more familiar or the simpler the shape, the better the quality of the construct. With enough innovation and creativity, he can create objects he imagines. Whether they function or even appear the way he thinks they will is another matter. He can manipulate and move his constructs without ever having to touch them, but drastically changing their shape causes them to shatter into nothingness.

Demons and Sometimes Angels - Troy has never had full-blown episodes of post-traumatic stress aside from a few nightmares and being overly wary of oblong objects on the road. However, his powers at many times conjure life-like constructs on their own, sometimes on a level of complexity he's not capable of creating on his own. He once awoke to a team of soldiers re-enacting stacking up beside his room door. Another walked into a restroom to find a construct of one of his comrades aiming a pistol at another construct that appeared to be a quivering civilian. He can expel them like his own but sometimes the sights leave him paralyzed. On the flip side to this, there are times when constructs appear in reaction to what Troy may want or need. It's not always a sure solution

From the Mind but Not of the Mind - Troy and his 'handlers" as he calls them believe his powers are simply the product of mental constructs. Yet despite being in an exhaustive or fugue state, he can continue to conjure his creations and it doesn't seem to give him any strain.

Because of her usage of this kind of magic, she has constant nightmares and her battling for control of her mind from otherworldly beings. She has learned to read and write ancient languages on earth and of other worlds. Communicating with entities not from earth either through her dreams or through hallucinations. History:

Ashley was born in Providence, Rhode Island living with her parents. Unbeknownst to her was that her parents were part of a cult. This cult worshiped Nyarlathotep called the Starry Wisdom Cult and groomed Ashley to be the head priestess of said cult. As a child and teenager, she was obvious to the intention of her parents. Being taught about the occult and eldritch knowledge from her parents. Around the age of twelve years old, she was gifted her own grimoire. This grimoire was passed down to each female member of the Williams family. Although she had a good relationship with her parents, she soon figured out what was really going on. Running away from her parents when she was sixteen years old. Drifting from place to place working odd jobs.

Living in a run down apartment with her roommate an old drug dealer named Deloras Hazlewood.Keeping the grimoire with her as she felt a strange sense of safety and comfort from it being near her. When she was eighteen years old she started reading from the grimoire and practicing the spells inside of the book. Her nightmares and hallucinations starting to worsen. Having visions of a shadowy looking man in a strange and alien looking place.

She seems drawn to this man and wants to know more about him. Leading her to research and find out the identity of this man. While also being chased by eldritch beings both in her dreams and in real life.

Her phasing can also disrupt electrical systems, damaging them, she can do this to a person's nervous system as well.

History:

Once the youngest member of the X-men, Kate has long since made a name for herself and proved herself to be vital member of both the X-men and mutantkind. She saved the world once, was the headmistress of Xavier's school for a time, and even lead the X-men for a while.

Things have changed once again, Krakoa has been founded, and for some reason Kate has found herself unable to cross through the gateways. So now she sails to Krakoa, quite bothered by this fact. Why does the island reject her?

Story Arcs: Krakoa - Kate arrives on Krakoa by boat, while she's happy to have finally arrived, she wants to know why she cannot go through the gateways.

An Invitation - Emma Frost invites Kate over, she accepts, but is a little suspicious as to why...

Spider-man has abilities akin to a… well, spider. Due to genetic alteration induced by a radioactive spider bite, he can climb walls; has enhanced strength, durability, stamina, speed, and reflexes; has regeneration; and has a spider-sense, a type of precognitive sixth sense that alerts him to danger. His spider-sense alongside his acrobatic reflexes allows him to easily evade most attacks.

He is also incredibly gifted in technology and chemical engineering, having created synthetic web-fluid shooters that allow him a versatile range of attacks, and a way of swinging around the city. Combining this wit with many years of combat experience makes him a valuable ally in battle, able to improvise non-lethal attacks against foes on the fly.



Peter Parker was just your average nerdy teenager, living with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May in New York City, avoiding bullies like Flash Thompson, and just trying to survive the struggles of high school—until the fateful day a radioactive spider bit him at a science expo. After this, he soon found that he had been granted superpowers, mimicking the abilities of a spider. Using his genius intellect, he created synthetic web fluid and web shooters and began to in secret fight crime as the amazing Spider-man. Peter had a naive, but hopeful spirit that believed that he could use his strange powers to help the citizens of New York, and he soon became an internet sensation. This would lead to him getting the attention of none other than the Avengers, and he would fight alongside the big leagues on several occasions, proving himself to be more than just a quippy young vigilante.

Throughout his life, Peter would learn time and time again that wasn’t easy being a hero. Over the years, the threats grew more dangerous. Supervillains like Shocker, Vulture, Mysterio, then the Green Goblin, Doctor Octavius, Electro, and more. Peter found it incredibly difficult to separate the Spider from the Man, as he struggled to balance “real life” with heroism and to protect the ones he loved from evil. He would face loss many times in his life, losing Aunt May, Gwen Stacy, and others. After dealing with Mysterio revealing Peter’s secret identity to the world, Peter had to work with the Sorcerer Supreme to erase his identity from everyone who knew him. His girlfriend MJ and best friend Ned forgot he was Spider-man, and he had to live on his own, alone.

However, he would rise again and again. Although Peter found himself out of friends, out of money, and out of college, he would work twice as hard to improve, getting into a budget college, working at The Daily Bugle, and swinging through life as Spider-man. He befriended people like Harry Osbourne, and the thief, Black Cat. Even when fighting alongside or against superhumans, aliens, robots, or what have you of much greater power, Peter Parker showed incredible enthusiasm and resilience, always trying to encourage those around him. His skill in combat, intellect, and unrelenting willpower would earn him a spot among the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and help him become an ally of even the X-Men. Yet at the end of the day, Peter would always seem to return to his solo ways as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man of New York.

Presently, Peter Parker is at a high point in his life. He’s become the mentor for a young teen with similar powers as him, Miles Morales. He’s made a solid living off photography and tech, and he’s beginning to create a startup called Parker Industries, with the goal of using technology to help those in need (including depowering dangerous villains). Peter even has a bit of a situationship with Black Cat, trying to help the thief join the good side.

Yet, how long can peace last? With the new mutant nation emerging and protests for or against mutant-kind popping up throughout New York, Peter is being forced to reckon with the reputation and power he holds within the superhero community. While not a mutant, he has fought alongside them many times, and many people look up to him as an ideal superpowered person. Meanwhile, there are whispers in the criminal underworld of old foes remerging to take back the city and crush Spider-man once and for all. Are these just silly rumors? Or is Spider-man about to face something much more sinister?



Cats and Spiders: Peter is mentoring young hero Miles Morales, as well as trying to guide Black Cat towards vigilantism rather than criminality. Peter is learning to be not only a hero who defeats bad guys but someone who truly helps others towards a path of good.

Beyond the Neighborhood: With heroes like Miles Morales and the Defenders emerging to help protect New York City, Spider-man (while still busy), is beginning to realize how key collaboration is and how his abilities could benefit others beyond the Big Apple. Peter may try to create Parker Industries and help that way, while Spider-man may begin to swing out of his usual city, getting more involved in global superhero affairs. Whether it will be trying to spend more time with the Avengers, or trying to help mediate mutant and human relations, we will soon see Peter Parker leaping farther out of his comfort zone.

The Piper has the mutant ability to psychically command rodents. She can control everything from the common sewer rat to mice, capybaras, chinchillas, and more. However, she tends to be most fond of rats and avoids working with squirrels (to avoid stepping on the schtick of Squirrel Girl). When commanding rodents, she can work on a minute level and make single rodents execute complex tasks or can command entire hordes, albeit with somewhat less accuracy. She uses these abilities to collect information, steal items sneakily, or overwhelm foes in combat with bites and scratches.

She can telepathically communicate with hordes of rodents within a certain range, scrying through their senses, or reading their emotional states. When rodents are under her influence, she can sometimes heighten their intelligence so that they can accomplish more complicated tasks outside of her range.

Working with “vermin” so often, she also has a secondary set of abilities: poison and disease resistance. While Piper can still get sick, it is very rare. Her immune system is incredibly resilient, and accustomed to the rot and sickness that is so prevalent in sewer systems or dumpsters.

While not necessarily combat-trained, she is skilled at stealth and acrobatics, able to leap away into the shadows when danger arises.



Louisa Rodney was born a mutant with the strange ability to command rodents, something her parents discovered about her when they’d often find young Louisa in her crib cuddling with a swarm of rats. After several rodent extermination attempts, Louisa would still always end up with a rat or two secretly sticking around, and soon her parents came to simply ignore this unusual affinity, as long as Louisa kept it under wraps.

She was always a social outcast, a bit too awkward to fit in with popular kids, and a bit too offbeat to even hang out with the nerds, so growing up Louisa turned to her rats. She’d spend much time in the alleys or sewers of New York, practicing her abilities and playing with rats, growing quite fond of them. They would tell her very interesting stories about the city and its secrets. Although they couldn’t talk per se, she could read their recent memories and see what they saw. While her parents began to grow distant, caring more for her “normal” human siblings, Louisa grew reclusive, but stayed under the radar, not attracting too much attention.

However, a supervillain attack on her high school led to Louisa having a mental breakdown, and she uncontrollably unleashed a flood of thousands of rats, bringing the villain down but traumatizing everyone in the vicinity.

After this event, she ran away from home, harassed by anti-mutant advocates and various agencies looking to control or utilize her abilities. She turned to the place that always felt like home… the sewers, the alleys, and life among the rats. To get by, she would often command her rats to steal clothes, food, or other basic needs. However, she would begin to get more extravagant, planning heists to steal electronics, furniture, and valuable goods to deck out her sewer lair. She relied on her rats and indulged in greed to numb the pain of isolation.

As much as she wanted to be left alone, Louisa gained the attention of mutants and other parties interested in the information she can collect with her rats. At first, she avoided such people looking for her, but they soon offered her protection, money, and goods. Hesitantly, she’s begun taking on jobs from the underworld to stalk targets or steal things here or there. She would work with the Morlock mutants from time to time, and various criminals. She didn’t want to be bad… but she had to do what she had to survive. That’s what she told herself.

However, in a chance sighting, she and her rats witnessed a murder, some sort of well-dressed, affluent man killing an innocent woman.

Louisa had done and seen terrible things, but this was worse. The murderer somehow realized that the Piper had seen what he had done, and he killed the rat watching him and Louisa fled. Currently, Louisa has begun to find arrays of dead rats throughout her sewers, and has become much more paranoid. These aren’t normal deaths, but precise killings, poor creatures brutally eviscerated to scare her.

She saw something she wasn’t supposed to see, and now she’s being hunted.



Eyes in Every Corner: Louisa has bartered her reconnaissance abilities to those who are willing to seek out The Piper and pay. However, her widespread perception via rat agents has also allowed her to witness things she shouldn’t have. Criminal dealings, supervillain plans, and most recently, a murder. And it seems this murderer wants to make sure no witnesses are left alive.

Rodent Stowaway: Louisa has heard of Krakoa, and part of her yearns to be among other mutants. However, she is deeply afraid of leaving behind her home in the sewers among New York’s rodents. Part of the journey in this roleplay will be reckoning with her mutant side and deciding if she wants to leave her home and stow away to Krakoa.

Molecular Acceleration: Remy has the power to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy, thus “charging” that item with explosive results. He prefers to charge smaller objects, such as his ever-present playing cards, as the time required to charge them is greatly reduced and they are much easier for him to throw. The only real limitation to this ability is the time required to charge the object. The larger it is, the more time it takes.

Most charging takes place through direct skin contact. The power of his explosions is dependent on the mass of the object he is charging, for example, a charged playing card explodes with the force of a grenade. He typically cannot utilize his powers on living matter or organic molecules.

History:

Born with blazing red eyes, the child that would become Gambit was abandoned shortly after birth, no doubt the generally highly religious and superstitious communities of the Bayou wanting little to do with the baby possessing the eyes of a demon, he was taken in and raised by the Thieves Guild. Few mutants exemplify the complicated and convoluted nature of the mutant factions than Gambit.

The young Gambit was commissioned to recover the diary of Nathaniel Essex from the Weapon X Facility in Canada. While he was ultimately discovered in the act, the chaos created by Logan’s escape managed to enable Gambit to escape. Appalled by the experiments he had seen at the Facility, he burned the diary. Back in New Orleans. Despite some suspicions, Essex eventually accepted the story, and Gambit became a respected and established member of the guild.

As part of a peace pact between the Thieves' Guild and their rivals, the Assassins Guild, a marriage was arranged between Remy and Bella Donna Boudreaux, the granddaughter of the head of the Assassins Guild; however, Bella Donna's brother Julien objected to the marriage and challenged Gambit to a duel. Remy killed Julien in self-defence, but was excommunicated and banished from New Orleans in an attempt to maintain the fragile peace between the two guilds.

First brought to the attention of the X-men while assisting in recovering a de-aged Storm from grave danger, the adventuring criminal had little in common with Xavier or other important members of the X-Men, and those who he might have aligned with were the kind to be most suspicious of him. Despite this, after several further encounters he would ultimately join the team. Whether this was due to a true change of heart from the Ex-Thief, or rather more to do with the Southern charms of a certain member, remains up for debate. He would, over time, become a well liked and valued member of the team. This made the revelation that he had long been a double agent working for Sinister, despite his reasons, all the more painful for the X-Men, in particular for Rogue. In their rage, the team abandoned Gambit in the Antarctic, a situation he was unlikely to survive.

The wraith-like Mary bonded with him, allowing him to survive until he reached the Savage Land, a hidden jungle nestled in the icy wasteland. There, Remy struck a deal with the enigmatic being known as the New Sun. In exchange for passage back to America, Remy agreed to run errands for the New Sun, a being that turned out to be a version of himself from other realities. The New Sun’s aim was the destruction of alternate versions of himself, but once this was revealed, Gambit was ultimately able to overcome his assailant, and make it home to America.

Various adventures followed, and despite earlier conflicts, Gambit returned to membership with the X-Men once the nature of his betrayals, and his lack of agency in them, was revealed. Similarly, Rogue and Gambit, despite their tempestuous nature, rekindled their relationship and it has been ‘largely’ uninterrupted since, even surviving Gambit’s brief period of domination by Apocalypse as his Horseman, Death. Ultimately this culminated in the pair finally marrying, the result of a failed ceremony between two other mutants instead becoming the impromptu matrimony of the pair, in a manner that seemed quite suitable for these two.

Since this time, Gambit has settled on Krakoa for the time being, while his wife remains a core part of the X-Men’s effort, he appears to have hung up his hero boots for the moment, quite content to bartend in the Lagoon. It’s a mystery if even Gambit believes the longevity of this attempt at a life no involved in heists and heroics.

Married Life and An Actual Job: Trying to achieve some sort of stability, how’s that going to go?

Espionage: If the above fails, Gambit has long been associated with the shadier dealings of the X-Men, Brotherhood, and more, certainly a skill set the new mutant state needs as it entrenches itself.
