"So you wanna play catch huh?"

“Sure.” Viktor shrugged at the three robbers just before Talos landed on the other side of the vehicle where Zach had been to assist. He was somewhat confident Zach could hold his own there but with Vincent, it spelled a sure victory. That left Viktor with three thugs; the driver and the three that had exited from the rear of the vehicle.

They fired their weapons, and whether as a show of intimidation or incompetence, one of the robbers fired his weapon, releasing foam that hardened contact with the ground before him. One of them moved to the opened door for cover, while the other two remained at the rear.

“Catch!” With another sphere in hand, Viktor pressed down on it with his thumb and tossed it up high above the two robbers at the rear. The attention it grabbed was enough, enough to give Viktor the time he needed. Viktor sprinted forth too fast for the robber who was using the door as cover to react. The improvised barrier became the robber's undoing as the door swung closed, crushing his body painfully against the van's frame. His scream alerted the other two who took aim, but only one fired. The other fumbled backward as the sphere smacked down on the ground due to him anticipating something from it.

Tracking the barrel of the fired weapon, Viktor sidestepped and circled around as a stream of foam followed him.

“Step back! That thing he threw!” The one who was more worried about what the sphere might do warned.

“Huh?” He stopped firing and glanced down at the sphere that suddenly protruded small spikes, bouncing once less than an inch off the ground. As underwhelming as it was, Viktor made up for it as he used the smallest windows of opportunity to strike. Viktor came in and delivered a crushing kick to the wary robber's knee. Then proceeded to the other by grabbing his weapon and elbowing him in the jaw, sending him flying back without it.

With the weapon in hand, Viktor shot at the robber now reeling on the ground from his shattered kneecap. The foam was fired at his limbs to pin him to the ground.

Viktor couldn't help but feel fortunate to have the opportunity to wrap his hands around another firearm. The dart rifle nor this hi-tech rifle were conventional, something he was more used to but they still struck him with a bittersweet nostalgia. There were no lives taken every time he squeezed the trigger, and somewhere deep inside, that made him feel grateful.

“I'm going to put this to use.” Viktor stated as he looked over to find Vincent had used the door to his advantage as well. The driver was now on the floor beneath the door he attempted to use as cover. Good. He then watched as that same robber's gun was hit by lightning from Zach, causing the weapon to spark and steam before the light it gave off died out. And even better.

Viktor turned, firing at the robber, sticking him in the door frame of the van. He intended to do this to the rest to ensure they didn't become a problem later.

“Zatara. Talos. Good work, now check on the downed officers. I'm gonna send up a status report.” Vincent and Zach would find them all unconscious. If they check the inside of the back of the van they'll find more of the strange weapons, money, and valuable items taken from the hostages inside.

“Team. Zatara, Talos, and I have dealt with the robbers and the van on the south side. No casualties and we're ensuring these guys stick around. They're mediocre at best but they're using unique weapons. So far we've identified two types of rifles. One that fires highly electrified bolas and another that fires a hardening foam. The weapons utilize some type of power supply that's vulnerable to electrical currents. Fortunately no brass, but I can't infer that for the thugs inside. We're checking on the police casualties at the moment and plan to search the van after. Any further instructions, Metamorph? Over.”

This was a lot to take in at first. Cora could hear the shouts after she saw Talos swoop down and join the fight. According to Rain's report, they were using weapons that fired based on electrical power sources. That was consistent with the brief bit that Nymph managed to squeak out. "Got it. I can disable those by frying the power sources. I just need to be close so I can. I'm at the hatch on the roof, and I don't see anybody guarding it. I'll check." Stormcaller opened the roof hatch and dropped down into whatever hallway it led to. As she neared any security cameras, they would appear to glitch out and their feeds would warp as if a magnet was interfering with them. Stormcaller took in the surrounding area. Lights began to flicker as she passed by them, though they never really stopped working.

"Stormcaller here, I'm on the top floor. Looks clear, I'm gonna meet you on the 36th floor, Nymph. Keep your head down until I'm there. Once I'm nearby, the cameras won't be able to pick up on us." She said, and then cautiously looked around for the stairs to head down. It was possible that these people had already taken over the security room, and that it wasn't just lying there empty for Cybergirl's convenience. Cora wasn't about to take the chance and blow their cover this early.

Going to the inside of the security room, Metamorph did a quick sweep of it to assure that there were no civilians or criminals. As he did, he noted the differing layout of this floor, no cubicles or real office spaces, but a large control panel that controlled the many CCTV screens. Otherwise, there were two adjacent rooms, one containing the data servers while the second held typical security equipment, flashlights and weapons of sorts.

Why these robbers did not think to at least have one or two of their members up here felt concerning. Having footage of them left room for them to be identified any number of ways. When Iceburn related those same points aloud, he simply nodded. Regardless of their adversaries’ questionable planning, The Meta confirmed that it was just them on this floor and made his way back to Cybergirl, whom had connected to the mainframe. As she flipped through the differing floors that Talos had mentioned, The Meta took note of armed thieves. He asked her to flip to the south garage exit briefly when Talos decided to go aid them.

Catching them as the battle was ending, he absorbed the information Rain relayed.

”There are roughly eight assailants between floors two through six, two to a room. With the two searching the higher floors and three on the ground floor; the total is 13. Given the description of the weapons that Rain provided, Stormcaller and Talos capabilities specifically may prove useful.” The Meta started walking out of the security room, waving Iceburn to follow him.

”That said, B-Squad, cease your floor sweep and regroup with Nymph to make your way down to the 6th floor. A-Squad, after securing the garage, take that southern entrance inside to take control of the lobby. Squad-C will take floor 3. The goal is to entrap them in a pincer movement between floors, while maintaining a close enough distance to provide support if needed.”

Daphne stood by the window with her arms crossed in front of her chest, standing very still. She occasionally glanced over her shoulder to see what Quiver was doing before returning her worried gaze downwards. From this high up she could barely make out the police cars stationed below. The calm but sudden voice of Kila on comms startled her. A tingling sensation spread through her hands and fingers.

The hostages were being held on the lower floors. Vincent's observations were confirmed by Kila to be accurate.
"A..Alright, understood"

She turned to Quiver to relay the information she just received on comms.
"So...uhm..the robbers are on the sixth floor...."
Wait that wasn't what Kila said. She quickly shook her head and corrected herself.
"I mean there are eight of them, not just on the sixth floor..."
"They are spread out between floor two to six and we need to be on the sixth floor."

While she talked the tingling sensation returned. She wrung her hands together to try and make it go away.
"I don't think we can use the elevator...." She trailed off, without giving a proper explanation. Not only was the entrance to the elevator close to the room where the hostages were being held, Cora's powers could possibly make it malfunction. The sheer amount of stairs was steep but it was the safest option.

They reunited with Cora and learned that Kassy was stalking the robbers patrolling the upper floors. Alisa allowed Kassy to stay one step ahead of them by tracking their movements from inside the control room. Squad B was hiding out in the stairwell of the sixth floor catching their breaths. They crouched down just around the corner of the second set of stairs, staying out of sight.

One of the two robbers was patrolling the hallways, circling the room where his accomplice was holding the hostages. He was equipped with a weapon that was different to the ones used by the robbers who fought the A squad. It seemed to be some kind of gauntlet.

Quiver was in cover with Nymph, and another teen hero that Nymph had introduced as "Stormcaller." He had nodded to her in recognition and followed along with the two of them down the stairwell. Being nearby to Stormcaller gave Quiver a particular kind of tingle-ness all over his body. He noticed that his hair was standing on end, as if it had come into contact with static. And could he smell something burning? Probably his imagination. He had to get back to focusing.

He peeked out around the corner and saw one of the robbers, and the weapon he was wielding - an impressively violent looking gauntlet.

"I don't recognize that," He informed Stormcaller and Nymph, "But I only see one of them."

The longer that Quiver waited at the behest of this team though the more he'd lose the advantage into whatever this whole operation was a smokescreen for. But maybe that was okay. With people's lives in the balance, this was more important. He waited in time for the guard to turn his back and head on his routine, then he pulled the exact arrow he needed.

Nocked, fired.

With a whistle the arrow flew towards it's intended target, it split from it's kinetic energy as the metallic ball at one end pulled the other. The bolo wrapped around the guard. The guard gave out a cry and spun as he fell. He attempted to raise the gauntlet but Quiver was already upon him. He held the gauntlet to the guard and pulled him into the stairwell.

"I recognize that it's possible this sort of thing is someone's kink, and I'm not here to shame - but if you don't tell me what it is you and your lot are after I'm going to tighten this knot enough that it stops being the exciting kind and starts being the ouch ouch kind."

The criminals were all taken care of. The police officers were unconscious, but fortunately still breathing, and the back of their truck had more of those weird weapons these guys were weapons they were using, money, and other random valuables.

Kila came over the comms, and told them to go to the lobby. At this point, Zach piped up. “Guys, we can’t exactly storm the lobby and start a fight with these guys. People are going to get hurt. Hmm… I have an idea.” He pointed his wand up and exclaimed “Emutsoc egnahc!” Immediately, Viktor, Vincent’s, as well as his own clothes changed to match the criminals they just took out, complete with sunglasses. Then he tossed the two of them a random weapon before claiming one for himself. “These aren’t exactly my style, but when have you known criminals to have taste? Anyway… Now we just need to get in there and take these guys out without anyone getting hurt.”

With that he took the lead, and went through the other entrance to get inside the lobby without raising suspicion.

Before Vincent moved to check on the guards, he turned to the steel plate on the ground, still tangled up in the sparking threads that had been fired at him. He held his hand out and the plate liquified before jumping toward Vincent's palm, leaving the threads behind. It slithered along his arm and returned to his back, covering his implant once more in a steel shell. Only when he had his steel back did Vincent check on the cops, crouching down and patting their cheeks to make sure they were still alive. "Looks like they're all still kicking," he said as he rose after checking the last one.

He had been about to take to the sky again when he heard Meta's voice over the comms. Vincent listened as their leader for the mission gave instructions to the different groups and waited for him to give him specific orders. When none came, he shrugged and said to Rain and Zatara, "I guess I'm gonna stick with you guys. Let's get this show on the road!"

Vincent had been about to charge through the door, only to stop when Zatara started to speak. He was already a bit miffed that Viktor had taken out the other thugs while he was busy with the one he had trapped under the car door, but he quickly became annoyed when Zach cast an illusion on him, giving him the same outfit the other thieves were wearing. "You've gotta be kidding," he grumbled as he shouldered his weapon, one of the electrified bola guns that had been used on him not too long ago. "I'm not cut out for this sneaking around crap. I'll play along for now, but if things go sideways, I'm cutting loose."

“Affirmative. Out.” Viktor replied to Kila's orders over comms. He rounded the van to check on Zach and Vincent who had completed the check on the police casualties. He gave them both a swift nod of acknowledgment before Zach spoke up.

“Guys, we can’t exactly storm the lobby and start a fight with these guys. People are going to get hurt. Hmm… I have an idea.” He pointed his wand up and exclaimed “Emutsoc egnahc!”

“Change…” Viktor looked down at the new clothes already dawning on his form. “...clothes?” Viktor removed the shades and shot a scowl at Zach before a sigh escaped him.

“These aren’t exactly my style, but when have you known criminals to have taste? Anyway… Now we just need to get in there and take these guys out without anyone getting hurt.”

"You've gotta be kidding," Vincent grumbled as he shouldered one of the weapons from the back of the van. "I'm not cut out for this sneaking around crap. I'll play along for now, but if things go sideways, I'm cutting loose."

“I hate to say this, but this is an adequate approach to the situation.” Viktor placed the shades and took a glance at the weapon he had in hand. “It's not sneaking, Talos. We'll be hidden in plain sight. We use familiarity as our element of surprise. It'll allow us to get in close enough to strike before they discern we're not their comrades. I don't care what method either of you chooses. Just be quick about it and focus on the objective.” Viktor voiced as the three entered the bank from the back entrance. Upon entering, Viktor fired his weapon on the door behind him, sealing the exit off while he feigned several loud and heavy coughs.

“Who's there?! Don't fuck with us! We will END these hostages!” One of the robbers in the lobby threatened as he and the two others with him heard A-Squad enter the building. Viktor nodded his head forward to signal his squad mates to continue moving in.

Just us three! Viktor's voice came out very hoarse before he continued to cough using one of his hands to cover his mouth as he proceeded. The hostages and three robbers were in view. All the trio had to do was get closer before the jig was up. “You only require two to get away with the cash. We figured you *cough* could use the backup. Viktor continued to cough several times again before he kneeled and fell over on his side helplessly, his coughs becoming more aggressive.

The robber didn't seem too impressed by Quiver's threats. He snorted and looked at the three teen heroes surrounding him.
"If you haven't figured that out by now you three are even dumber than your costumes make you look.."

There was a smirk on his face while he continued to insult each of them. Quiver was accused of not being able to back up on his intimidation. Daphne's choice of pink deserved some ridicule. Only Cora seemed to get the least amount of criticism.
"At least you look decently intimidating, whatever that getup is supposed to be."

Aside from talking he didn't appear to be making any effort to escape. At least that's what it looked like. The gauntlet was pushed tightly against him. Daphne kept her eyes trained on the weapon and noticed a steadily building glow. She place her hand on Quiver's shoulder.
"Uh..Quiver? I thin.."

BOOM!

There was a shockwave of blue green tinted energy blasting through the entire stairwell. The kinetic force pushed the teen heroes in different directions. Daphne who was standing close to the stairs, got blasted down. She dispersed in an effort to break her fall. The force of the blast scattered her through the stairwell. Daphne could feel she was overextending and had to revert back, making a rough landing on her side.

Having freed himself the robber pushed his body up from the floor, the remains of the bolo falling away. He inspected the gauntlet and smirked again. This was the first time he used it and it definitely didn't disappoint. He began to load up another charge, just to make sure to knock these teens out for good.

Location Bank, 6th floor
Interactions Nymph, Quiver, and her first victim

Nymph's new friend seemed like he could be trusted. He had the same skills as Green Arrow, and was clearly trying to help them. The goon he caught, though? He was a clearly trying to be an asshole. Stormcaller followed him and Nymph up to the guy, and tuned out the comment about their costumes. Cora was just about to shoot back with something about his hairline, when she was flashbang by blue and green, and flung straight into a water cooler. She couldn't see where Quiver or Nymph landed, but her training had taught her not to stay down. Stormcaller pushed off of the ground and moved upwards away from the floor, now floating about a foot in the air.

"Okay. Fuck you then!"

Stormcaller, despite being partially soaked, raised her hands as a crackling hum slowly filled the room. Blue sparks began to dance between her fingers. She wasn't about to let this guy do whatever that was again, so once she saw that he was free, she let him have it. Stormcaller fired a thin bolt of lightning at the robber's gauntlet. It was bright, almost enough that someone other than Cora would see spots in their eyes afterwards. Depending on how insulated the gauntlet was, it could either be unaffected, or its internal techy bits could be completely burned up, and the robber's arm would feel the rest. The shock could potentially leave the man stunned, but it wasn't enough to kill him.

Quiver was thrown in the opposite direction of Nymph, his lower back smacking against the railing of the stairwell. The force of the blast was strong enough that he went up and over - it was only because of his quick reflexes that he had grabbed the railing and held on, dazed. As his vision cleared a bit, he could make out that Stormcaller was engaged with the enemy. He had to shield his eyes with his other hand as Stormcaller fired off what looked like a white hot lightning bolt in the bad guy's direction. He was still standing but Quiver couldn't tell if he was still conscious or not.

He pulled himself up and over, and fired off another arrow - metal round tip - the slugger, and nailed the robber right in the chest.

Leaving the rest to Stormcaller, Quiver turned to look back at his friend Nymph.

"Are you alright Daphne?" he called down to her. Quiver wondered what their next move should be. The gauntlet fired off a loud enough discharge, and with the others presumably working on fighting outside, did they still have stealth as an option?

The Incorrigible Iceburn!

Metamorph: @DClassified

Iceburn saluted jovially and followed Metamorph. "C-squad! The C stands for cool."

taking in the intel being put together by the other members of the team. "Hmm hmm. Well, I don't care how fancy their guns are, two of them should be no problem." She said, jogging after Metamorph.

"...I mean, okay, small problem. But what are we gonna do, not engage because they have guns?" Iceburn asked rhetorically. "Of course not! You're good in a close up fight Metamorph, so just let me cover for you while you get close. If you need it, that is. I think my most important job is freezing guns." She said with a confident nod. The most effective way to neutralize any gunman was to make them just a regular man.

But she had learned early on not to underestimate a decently sized guy with a baseball bat. If they really wanted too, they could lay down the hurt and catch a hero off guard. But still, much less dangerous than a guy with a gun, and usually they were too reliant on said gun and could be easily defeated without it.

When they reached the stairwell, Iceburn didn't need to be asked to quiet down. Indeed, she cracked her knuckles and went into Serious Mode™. She was going to prove to the team that she was a badass, professional, and useful asset. Sure, she was nervous, but she was confident they were going to win this and Save The Day. When she heard the distant sound of explosive firepower reverberate through the stairwell, she looked at Metamoprh and raised an eyebrow.

As Rain fell to his side in a coughing fit that sounded incredibly genuine, drawing the attention of the robbers toward him and away from the hostages, Vincent slowly moved away from the group and circled around. As he did, he inspected his weapon, seemingly admiring the shiny casing. In reality, he was using his power to search for anything made of steel or even simple iron on the inside, anything he could use to tamper with them. He could feel, in a way he couldn't quite explain, that there wasn't much he could work with and the fact that he didn't know how the weapon even worked didn't help much. Maybe the trigger assembly? he thought, having decided to focus on the one thing that seemed familiar.

It was then that one of the robbers had noticed Vincent had started to wander. He glanced back at Rain, then walked over to Vincent. He put a hand on the young hero's shoulder and opened his mouth, probably to ask what was going on with the guy on the ground, when Vincent reacted. The instincts that had kept him alive on the streets and in the ring kicked into gear as Vincent pulled away from the man, spinning on the ball of his left foot. In the same motion, he grabbed the muzzle of the weapon he held with his right arm and, using the momentum of his spin, he swung the weapon into the side of the criminal's head. He fell to the ground, unconscious, and Vincent stood above him, still gripping his weapon like a club.

He looked up from the unconscious criminal back to his friends and the two thugs as they stared, seemingly stunned by the sudden attack. "Oops..." Vincent said with a shrug. Just then, the building shook, as if a blast had gone off on one of the upper floors. Vincent’s wings burst out of the back of his shirt before molding themselves to his arms, essentially becoming form-fitting, arm-length gauntlets as he readied himself to fight. ”Everything good up there?” he asked into his earpiece.

The gauntlet was unaffected by Cora's lightning bolt. The same could not be said for the robber. If the blast wasn't enough to stun him the slugger arrow fired by Quiver pushed him back to the floor. He rolled backwards, screaming and cursing. The sound of the gauntlet and the crackle of electricity drew the attention of the second robber. He was positioned on the other side with the hostages.

"Nobody move..." He kept his weapon trained on the frightened group of civilians. He slowly retreated from the office area into the hallway. The robber was apprehensive and his body language betrayed what he was feeling. Weapon at the ready, a sound gun he investigated another set of cubicles. The sounds were coming from farther ahead, near the stairwell.

His eyes went wide when he saw his associate downed on the ground, groaning and unable to move. He stood face to face with both Quiver and Stormcaller.
"Nobody fucking move!!"

His voice was shaking slightly and he aimed his weapon at Quiver, pressing down on the trigger, only nothing seemed to happen. The pitch was too low to be picked up on by human ears. It would cause a steadily increasing feeling of nausea and dizziness wherever it was aimed. With his free hand he reached for his cellphone, calling up the other hostage takers to warn them.

"Guys, this is Theo, I'm on the sixth floor an..."

An intense fluttering sound came from the stairwell. A cloud of petals rushed into the hallway and enveloped Theo. He tried to swat it away, but they kept reforming. Eventually his movements slowed and he became calm.

He stopped talking, overcome by a feeling of serenity. Daphne changed from a cloud into a humanoid shape and turned to Cora and Quiver, putting a finger to her pink lips.

"What the hell is going on Theo? THEO?!"

The voice on the other end of the phone yelled angrily. Theo responded with a goofy smile, feeling dazed.
"Relax man..."

"What was that explosion??"

"No idea but everything's good here, everything's really good..." He hung up and just kept staring dreamily at Daphne floating in front of him. She transformed back and grabbed the phone from Theo's hands. Daphne tossed it back at Cora.

"Can you destroy this?"

She got on comms with squad C.

"Metamorph we might have been compromised on the sixth floor. I tried to diffuse the situation but I'm not sure it worked. The hostage takers called their associates on a different floor, but I.... had him say there was nothing going on here."

Just then she heard Vincent on comms asking on the status of things. The possibility of having to drop stealth was getting real. Daphne could feel her confidence wavering.

The Meta led the way down the stairs, absorbing small tidbits of information from his team. With ever enthused Iceburn following behind, he was also being followed by an army of words. He didn’t respond to much of what she said outside of a nod when she presented an idea for a gameplan. While there was the uncertainty of how their weapons would react to her ice powers, she could prove useful otherwise.

On reaching the stairs down to the third floor, a boom from above reflexively made Metamorph’s head jut upward. His eyes connected with Iceburn for several seconds as his breath caught in his chest. Before he could even ask, Nymph’s voice reached his ear. An exhale of relief was released but his posture remained tense.

The mission being potentially compromised was bad, worse given the hostage situation. However, the possibility was always there, and being upset about it wouldn’t help. People’s lives were at stake. Thus, his expression narrowed in focus as he approached the door to the 3rd floor.

”This new information only tells us that we are now moving on borrowed time. We simply have to move quicker than they can relay orders. B-Squad, hurry to the next floor. That explosion was more than enough to put them on edge.” He made eye contact with Iceburn.

”We will need to neutralize the threats at the same time. I want you to act as a decoy for the roaming guard while I sneak through the room to find the hostage taker. You are good at being confusing, so keep him busy, and I will signal to you when to engage.” The Meta explained the plan, though left little time to converse as he entered the door and disappeared inside.

Quiver had his hands up to show the robber he was a non-threat (or at least to appear as one) and he had started to think of something wise to say to the man pointing his weapon at himself and Stormcaller when he caught a glimpse of Nymph. She was in a beautiful flowing flower form, and a swarm of pink petals in a human shape before swirling around en masse - they engulfed the man with a weapon standing a few feet from the heroes.

Undoubtedly it was Nymph, and Quiver was surprised at the sheer tenacity of her. He wondered what it was she was doing to the thief, as his view was obscured by a veritable bouquet of beauty. She didn't appear to be attacking the man. Quiver could suddenly smell a beautiful flowery scent in the air, and felt a gentle euphoria fill his lungs and mind. The hit he took from the earlier gauntlet wielding thief didn't seem to bother him as much either. He felt his hands to his side as Nymph reconstituted in front of him, back in her base form.

Quiver could hear the thief communicating with his allies, and he seemed even more at peace than Will himself. He shook off his sort of "beauty buzz" or contact high and retrieved his slugger arrow from the ground. Oliver may be rich but he sure as hell wasn't.

Nymph was speaking into her headset, and she addressed Metamorph - undoubtedly the leader of this currrent mission. No time to wonder about them. He turned to Stormcaller, who was now holding the weapon previously meant to do them harm.

"I'm sure you'll break it in a cool way, yeah?" He asked her with sincerity, possibly still under the effects of being so close to Nymph's ability. He wondered briefly if that was actually just in his head from being near. But he was too relaxed to really worry about it.

They didn’t have to be in these stupid uniforms for very long. Viktor fell on the ground coughing which distracted the criminals. Talos took the opportunity to knock out one of the robbers. “Well, I guess the jig is up now. Tlob gninthgil!” A lightning bolt fell from the sky, and took the weapons off line.”

“You little twerp!” One of the criminals exclaimed as they ran towards him.

Zach calmly replied “Egnahc sehtolc otni sgnidnib!” Immediately, the criminals uniforms unraveled themselves and tied up their arms and legs causing them to fall to the floor. The criminals squirmed on the ground.

“Egnahc sehtolc otni ruo smrofinu!” Immediately Viktor’s, Vincents, and Zach’s clothes changed back to their uniforms. “Ladies, gentlemen, and anything else in between. Zatara the great and friends have come to set you free!”

Some of the hostages applauded while Zach took a bow. Then he called Kila on his comms. “Zatara to Metamorph. Squad A has secured the lobby. Anything else we have to do?”

Location Bank, 6th floor
Interactions Nymph, Quiver, and the entire team.

Stormcaller, after watching Nymph turn into a cloud of flowers, was hit in the helmet by the phone. Her head felt fuzzy after the second guy pulled the trigger on that gun, but she shrugged it off. She picked the phone up and jolted it. The circuits were fried, and smoke puffed out as she tossed it into a trashcan. "They're gonna come looking probably, even if that guy said it's cool up here. We gotta move. People who rob banks don't normally have weird nausea guns and-" Wait. "I just thought of something." Cora said, as she quickly ran over to the stunned robber and pull the shockwave gauntlet off of his arm. She turned it over in her hands a few times, looking at any indication of electrical conduction. There seemed to be some kind of device that took in a power load, and converted it into a kinetic wave. "It's not EM, but- Oh, it's got a cascader... Yeah. I can work with that." She slid the gauntlet into a pocket on the inside of her coat, for safe keeping. "This is mine now." She said out loud, in an almost mischievous way, and then turned to the guy with the funny-looking gun in his hand.

"Hey, buddy. Might if I borrow that?" That was, however, a rhetorical question, as Stormcaller pulled it out of his hand while he was still in some weird, flowery daze of euphoria. She was tempted to blast him with it, but decided not to. "It looks like it's just soundwaves, some kind of nausea-emitter to stun people. It's funneled down a WF choke- Fuck me. That's perfect." Stormcaller then messaged the entire team. "Stormcaller to team, I'm here with Nymph. We found some guys with more weird weapons, a glove that emits energy shockwaves and a gun that makes people nauseous instead of actually hurt them. I've got them both in my hands right now, and I think I can use it to incapacitate a bunch of their buddies in one go. What do you think, Metamorph?"

Location: Bank Lobby
Interactions: Vincent and Zach

Viktor had ceased his coughing and swiftly moved into the prone the moment Talos struck one of the robbers. He had his rifle trained on a target but was pleased he didn't have to squeeze the trigger as Zach quickly apprehended the robbers. “Exceptional. Swift and focused.” Viktor complimented as he picked himself off the ground, his suit returned to his appearance while he retained the strange rifle he acquired from the van.

The hostages had begun to stand and chatter with relief and happiness, unfortunately, Viktor did not meet them in kind.

“Quiet! The threat remains.” Viktor spoke coldly and pointed the barrel of his rifle toward the service counter. “If you're unharmed, get behind there and maintain noise discipline until we can confirm the enemy is neutralized… please,” He added the last bit like a bandaid to the sting of his cutting tone. Should have known the day would come when I'd be saving hostages.

Viktor paced around the lobby with his head on a swivel while keeping away from the barricaded front entrance. The last thing he wanted was to be placed right in front of a breaching attempt by the police waiting outside.

“No traps but keep an eye on the elevators. We can't get complacent… even with this lousy bunch.”

The Incorrigible Iceburn!

Collab Interactions
Metamorph: @DClassified
NPCS: gm @dreamingflowers

”Good at–?” Iceburn began with a whisper, but Metamorph was already through the door. ”Aaand he’s gone.” Iceburn said. As for his plan…

”Let’s hope they aren’t trigger happy…” She muttered under her breath with a nervous smile. But she was nothing if not a performer, and she had done similar ‘distraction’ roles before in some of the rinky-dink heists she and her friends in Rhelasia used to pull.

But she couldn’t distract anyone in her superhero outfit. She needed a disguise. But how? Her pink eyes scanned the floor and she peeked around the corner. With the coast clear, she made her way…to the janitor’s closet!

As the roaming guard made their patrol, they would suddenly encounter the young pale woman with a cap and a baggy outfit on, pulling a cart of supplies in one hand and a mop in the other.

”Moppin’ floors, moppin’ floors, that’s what I’m getting pa-id fors.” She sang brightly, adding a croaky rasp to her voice and a hunch to her shoulders. Her head was down, her face mostly obscured.

The guard aimed his weapon at Pei, as if her mop and bucket were some sort of deadly weapons.
“What the hell are you doing…?” The question would have been obvious, but what kind of janitor would continue cleaning the building during a heist? He walked up to Pei with a scowl on his face.

“Do you want to end up like the rest of the people here?”

The guard kicked at the bucket, spreading dirty water all over the marble floors. It looked like there were a couple of people who managed to stay out of sight during their sweep of the floors.

”What’s that, sonny?” She croaked, still not looking up, hoping to use her hat to hide the youthfulness of her face. She cupped her ear in his direction. A lot of her hair was white, after all, she had hid a lot of the rainbow part under her cap.

”My hearing isn’t what it used to be!”

“Either get off this floor, or join the hostages downstairs! Understand?”

He really didn’t have time for this nonsense. There was something going on downstairs. Theo’s message was strange to say the least and he could swear he heard the muffled sounds of a distant explosion.

The guard was waiting for Pei to leave the area and he wasn’t being very patient. It would be less than a minute before he’d resort to violence.

Iceburn was nothing if not willing to take a hit for the team… but she wasn’t looking forward to it. At all. Nonetheless, she pushed forward. ”Hmmm? Oh yes, yes, I understand. Just fine, sonny. But, no, thank you. I’ll just clean this floor and move on, I don’t have any sausages.” She said. Hostages kind of sounded like sausages. That was what she was going with here. ”But if you’d like, you can come over for some homemade cake and iced cream!”

The stalling tactics could only take them so far and the guard was fed up. He grabbed Pei and pulled her away from the cleaning supplies with a rough tug on her left arm.
“I don’t think you’re getting my point….”

”Ooh!” Iceburn said, feigning alarm. She winced, preparing to take a hit, but fortunately, he saw fit to only tug her. Harshly, but, whatever. At the very least, he’s not the type of guy to beat up defenseless old ladies. Iceburn would go easy on him.

During a childhood of picking pockets and close up magic, Iceburn was an experienced student of distraction. It was a subtle thing. But while her arm was tucked, Iceburn stumbled forward, bring her other arm around behind her. All she need to do was tap the trigger of the gun, and leave a little mist behind. A little rock of ice stuck behind the trigger of the gun. If he ever tried to pull the trigger, it would get stuck. Iceburn pressed her lips together in anticipation, and waited for her leader’s mark to act.

Meanwhile, within the cubicles, a hunter lurked in search of the hostages on this floor. He could still quite plainly hear his teammate’s interaction with the guard. While he appreciated that she was buying him time, he well understood that the time was quickly diminishing.

The small walled workspaces could be a maze if they hadn’t checked the floors above with similar layouts. Moreover, the young lion knew that the workers wouldn’t be crammed into one of these areas. Instead, he found his way to a corner where he could only assume to be a supervisor’s office.

Peeking around the corner just barely, he could see the hostage taker at the door. There was a bit of distance between the final cubicle and the office, enough so that if there was a wrong turn, their cover would be blown. Exhaling to steady his nerves, Kila put a hand up to his ear as he timed the man’s pacing pattern.

”Now!” His voice cut into the comms as he cut the distance toward his opponent. Just as the man turned his head to face fast-falling footsteps, a heavy shin came down on the back of his head to drop him.

The guard was knocked to the floor before he could pull the trigger on his sound gun. The kick to his head hurt and made him see stars. He squinted and could just about make out a moving shape in front of him. He pretended to have lost consciousness, staying still.

”Squad A, splinter off to the upper floors. Zatara remain in the lobby with the hostages, you are the most equipped for the unexpected. Be cautious Stormcaller, we don’t want—ugh!” His body fell to his hands and knees, as he suddenly felt his body shaking. His dark fading vision made contact with the man he had struck.

When Metamorph turned to communicate with his Team, the guard took the opportunity to quietly change the frequency of his weapon. He fired it at full capacity. The relatively small amount of distance made the effect of the weapon even more potent. The young lion felt waves of shooting pain through his body unlike anything he’d experienced before. Yet, while his ears rang, his exhaled breaths held animalistic snarling beneath.

Unexpectedly he stood up, his posture still somewhat shaky. Even more unexpectedly however, the Metamorph helmet fell to the ground in front of him. A red glow came from above the hostage taker.

Iceburn had heard the command. She heard the command and looked up at the man that had her by the arm. At that point he would probably realize that she was seventeen and not seventy. Iceburn grinned apologetically for her deception and got to work. She stomped on the ground beneath his feet, and her Creation Mist sprayed and then solidified into a frictionless, slippery puddle of ice, just for him.

In order to escape, she twisted her her arm in his grasp and pulled it through the narrow gap in his thumb and fingers. In order to get said leverage she threw her shoulder into him. Normally it wouldn’t knock him over, he had height and weight on her. But with the ice puddle beneath him, Iceburn knew it would send him harshly onto his tailbone while she remained standing.

After that he pointed a gun and pulled the trigger- only to find it stuck. Grinning, Iceburn blasted the gun from his hands with a shard of ice, sending it scattering and ruined. After that, she crossed her arms over each other and blasted his ankles with ice, freezing them to the floor. Uncrossing the x of her hands she flattened him against the ground by freezing his arms tight and then attaching him to the floor. The ice was ice cold and uncomfortable, but it wouldn’t leave any lasting damage or hurt that much. She gave him only a moment to consider his predicament before tossing a snowball at his mouth that stuck there, silencing him. The whole thing would melt in a few hours.

Iceburn let the janitor’s outfit fall off of her.”Thwarted by the Incorrigible Iceburn!” She struck a heroic pose, fists against her hips. Then she started running. ”Justice always wins!”

Iceburn burst into the room with the hostages in her full superheroic uniform. Bold colors, form fitting, with a cropped and sleeveless top with her logo on the back. Couldn’t be mistaken as anything else. Her open hands were misting and crackling with ice power, ready to go.

She wanted to see Metamorph standing victoriously over her opponent, already in the process of freeing the hostages.

What she got was different.

The guard was defeated all right- but he was laying on the ground with two broken arms. It was terribly violent, and she shuddered. The hostages were untouched- neither freed nor harmed. And perhaps worst of all, Metamorph was gone. The only thing left was his mask on the ground. Iceburn was never big on secret identities, but…that couldn’t be good.

”Metamorph?” She asked, walking into the room and making sure it was clear. First, she made sure the fallen sound gun was totally disabled by giving it a freezing blast. There was no way that guard was hurting anyone now. She was reluctant to look at him and see his arms.

Iceburn activated her communications device and radioed in. ”Metamorph? Metamorph, do you copy? Where’d you go, buddy?” She asked.

No response. Iceburn bit her lower lip.

Then she rushed over to the hostages, knelt down, and put on a convincing heroic smile.

”Hi, my name is Iceburn, and I guess I’ll be saving you today. ” She said.

”You all look right as rain to me, and that’s great to see.” Her smile was reassuring and bright.

”My friend, Metamorph, is a bit anti-social, but he’s got a good heart. Did any of you happen to see where he might have gone?” She asked, like she was asking for directions to the grocery store. No big deal. No reason to freak out.

One of the hostages answered in a shaky voice.
“I….I’m not sure where he went. He attacked the robber and…”

The woman was still rattled from the showdown between Metamorph and the robbers. She wasn’t sure who the good guys and the bad guys were anymore.

A man standing behind put his hand on her shoulder. He was remarkably calm and able to provide Pei with a more cohesive answer.

“I saw him leave the way he came, but I can’t be sure what floor he’s on now. I’m guessing he went after the rest of them. He did seem intent to…to take a violent approach. He didn’t harm any of us however….”

”That’s good, that’s good.” She said, her voice soothing for the benefit of the more panicked hostages. ”Thanks very muchly.”

She stood up and steepled her fingers, placing them thoughtfully against her lips. Placing her finger against her comms device again she said across all channels to her squads.

”A-squad, B-squad, this is Iceburn, of C-squad. I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is, the hostages on this floor are safe.” She picked up the mask he wore and gazed upon it.

”The bad news is that Metamorph has gone, uh, AWOL? As in, have no idea where he is. And he apparently,” She pointed the mask knowingly at the man who had told her. ”Is approaching with violent intent. And I got a goon down here with two broken arms which seems like a little much. So. Yeah. For now I’m gonna guide these hostages out of here and…meet up with whoever’s closest?” She shrugged, voice raising an octave.

With her report given, she went to the hostages.

”Okay, everyone. Stay quiet and follow my lead. We’re getting outta here.” Her plan was to get them free of any patrols and then point them to the exit once it was safe enough.
