Welcome to Huddeen, New Hampshire. Or rather, what's left of it.

Huddeen was a meager town situated near the three cities of Concord, Manchester, and Nashua. Although the town had enjoyed a close proximity to the cities, Huddeen was left to deal with the outbreak and resulting fallout by itself. The National Guard units that were assigned to relieve the town never arrived, and with the military consolidating resources towards larger population centers such as New York City and Washington D.C., it was ultimately written off as a necessary loss along with much of the New England countryside.

That was roughly two weeks ago. Most of Huddeen has been left to the dead, yet a small holdout still remains: Mulberry Street. One of the few roads in Huddeen, a surprising number of households along the street survived the initial outbreak.

Although these families were lucky to survive the initial outbreak, they are now in the eye of the storm. The electricity, water and gas are all still on, yet as the days pass the likelihood of them turning off increases. Other supplies such as food, unable to be frequently replenished at city supermarkets like before, are beginning to dwindle, forcing the survivors to start rationing. It won't be long before people will be forced to scavenge for resources—provided they can avoid being devoured by the wandering undead in the town.

Regardless of the impending doom, however, Mulberry Street stands strong. Armed with neighborhood camaraderie, some have begun to venture out into the unknown, eager to turn the street into a place of shelter and safety. Will you join your fellow neighbors in rebuilding the neighborhood into a thriving sanctuary, or will you sit back and let them waste their resources on foolish hope?

Hello, and welcome to Left Behind.

If you aren't here from the interest check, the concept behind the roleplay is rather simple. You, and/or your family, are a survivor of a recent zombie apocalypse, and so are most of your neighbors. Rather than devolve into bandits and eventually fight over scraps, the neighborhood has decided to pool their resources together to ensure the survival of their community.

As the roleplay takes place in a small outskirt town, there are no strong resource points to gather supplies from, such a Walmart or other big corporation to scavenge. There are a few local businesses to take from, like a small family diner and a gas station, for example. But those supplies will only last so long, and certainly don't have everything the neighborhood would need to survive. In other words, as the roleplay progresses, they will eventually be forced to venture out further, either into other nearby outskirt communities or into one of the three zombie-infested cities for supplies.

Given the nature of the roleplay setting, this roleplay will primarily be sandbox-based as it is designed for a base-building scenario. You aren't going to be mowing down zombies with machine guns or katanas, you are going to be ensuring that you and your neighbors survive against various things like starvation, mother nature, and of course, being torn apart by building up and creating a thriving sanctuary. The characters in this roleplay aren't apocalyptical badasses, they're just everyday joes trying to make sure that everyone makes it through the end of the civilized world as best as they can.

If that interests you, then the character sheet is below. I will try to answer any questions or concerns that anyone might have, but I also want to leave most things vague enough for players to interpret as they wish in the spirit of the roleplay. But if there is anything you're truly not certain on, then just leave a message and I or any other potential co-GMs will get back to you about it.

I apologize for all the tables in the OOC/character sheet, btw. I just wanted to try something different to see how it looked.

Hopefully they're tropes but subverted instead of just tropes. The different art style for each is meant to be thematic. Not sure if it actually is...

I know I've hopped in late, @Kuro, but if I've got anything wrong - do you prefer photos over art? - feel free to correct me

I don't have a strict preference myself but I do like to keep things uniform. Since everyone else seems to be going for IRL FCs, I'd suggest to do the same for your sheet if possible.

Not at the moment considering I only have three people with a completed sheet.

Since we have around half of the interested sheets in, I'll start looking over the sheets possibly tonight or tomorrow. Expect most likely a weekend launch, though.

GM reviews:

@Sailorsadie

Even with the borked code, I'm cool with your sheet. It doesn't particularly conflict with anything or anyone else, and honestly I like the simplicity of just a nurse practitioner and her dog. Consider it approved.

@Force and Fury

With the Sparlings, I'm kind of mixed on the sheet.

It's a big family, which I'm fine with, large families do exist. But for the sake of the RP, I do have to ask if you're going to be okay with managing six characters in total. I presume you are since you made the sheet, but I wanted to ask before the RP started as some people think they're cool with essentially a lot of work but then keel under pressure/the workload later.

I've also had people mention to me that the Sparlings seem sort of "metagamey". And to be honest, I do see some of their concerns, particularly with Jason. He fits nearly every aspect of characters I feel hesitant to accept: sword swinging, zombie/survivalist "know-it-all" type, etc. I can ignore the sword collection in this particular case, but the whole "playing zombie games and building traps" is what I'm worried about. Granted, I can see that you're planning on him getting a reality check and that realizing life isn't a video game, but I'm just concerned about it being a "get-out-of-jail" free card to triumph over every situation him and/or others are in.

Once you address these concerns, consider the Sparlings accepted.

@Starlance

I'm a fan of the Valeros. Not too many people willingly play old characters in zombie apocalypse roleplays. My only question is that you mention that that you mention their daughter, Amanda, being a regular visitor... but she isn't listed in the sheet? Do you intend on bringing her into the RP, or will she be a background character at most?

The sheet is accepted, I just want to know what's the haps with that particular character.

@TGM

I like the sheet, but I do have a few concerns with Lorraine. Her information feels sparse(-ling, heh, anyhow) compared to the other characters mentioned within the sheet. I know she's struggling to support the family alone and is dealing with the loss of her husband, but what else? Did she have some kind of big job, was she a stay-at-home mom or something? Small details like that to give her more depth as a character.

Once you've done that, feel free to post the sheet in the CS tab.

@Theyra

I like the newbie idea (at least for the family, not so much Tegan). My main concern is that the game dev arc slightly steps on @Force and Fury's toes, since both are going for the game studio angle, albeit with different positions of course. Maybe you two could work something out; perhaps Devon and Kyle know each other? Of course you don't have to do anything, I just figured to note the potential for overlap between the two of you.

Whenever you get a chance, you can go ahead and post it with the other accepted sheets.

She was meant just as an extra bit of flavor for the family/Carlos, zombies happened to pick a weekend when she wasn't visiting, though I suppose when if someone's brain gets munched on and the town needs more manpower she could be used.

Yep, I need to decide on her job which is pretty much it. That was the edit I said I needed to do.
