Cocaine Bear looked ok but I'm not much of a fan of the director. I'll probably wait until it's free on whatever streaming site. I haven't actually seen any reviews for it.

I kind of want to see it myself but I rarely go to the theaters these days. Might just do the same, honestly. Especially from what I've heard people say about the film.

Anyway, as for me: Once again continuing my Marvel rewatch. Close to the 2nd Avengers movie, but I still need to plow through like 2-3 more seasons of TV shows before I get there. Just started season 2 of Agents of SHIELD right after finishing Daredevil last night.

Creed 3 was totally fine, nothing great, nothing bad, but people suggesting it as some live action anime shit are lying to you.

Finished the MCU grind. At least, the movies and not so much the TV shows. I figured that I'd rather go see Ant Man 3 while it was in theaters instead of waiting for it to release on Disney+. That said I had to skip the Spider-Man movies temporarily, mainly because they're not on Disney+ like the rest of the MCU films, so I need to eventually get around to that.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was incredibly eh. It's a movie where the actors try to salvage a script from a screenwriter who was not up to the task of going from cartoon sitcom to movie.

Saw Quantumania and thought it was fine if pretty mediocre and gutless. Doesn't take any risks, has no stakes, shot pretty blandly and there's this awful filter over the actors to make them fit in with the bad CGI background and foreground. Michelle and John were great in it, but that's really all I can say about it.

I agree, tbh. The writing felt stiff and at times the CGI green screen is painfully obvious to the human eye. And then there's things like Murray's character just being there for one scene and never seen again. But otherwise I still found it at least serviceable enough to work as an entry into the MCU. It wasn't Eternals 2.0 for me by any means.

Then again I like Newton and the Ant-Man series in general so I may be slightly more biased here than normal.

I like Newton but they gave her some of the worst dialogue I've seen in a long time...

The funny thing about Ant-Man 3 is how they changed the ending probably on account of the leaks which is why the actual ending that makes sense
is blown past and the tension is gone and replaced with more Baskin Robbins bullshit.

Also maybe don't let this guy write Kang Dynasty if he could barely write a movie revolving around five characters.

Is it Dunkirk loud or is it just loud for the sake of being loud? If that makes any sense. With Dunkirk, you could practically feel the rumbling of planes and other such things in your body. It's the only movie I can really think of off the top of my head where the sound design has had a noticable, personal effect on me when watching it in theaters.

Kind of both? It's definitely loud for the sake of being loud but that only enhances it when a dude gets shot in the face or a dude punches wood really fuckin hard.

John Wick 4 is like a Triple A video game. Expensive looking and really f*cking long.

It was not exactly a thrill ride from start to finish...

Beginning was a bit of a slog, and its first few action set pieces were nearly bloodless for no particular reason. Plot was bloated and nonsensical (even for John Wick.) John Wick is a superhero (even for John Wick.) Acting was the worst of any of the four. And the main villain was on par with Last Jedi's General Hux (had to look his name up.)

Still probably better than the third one? It's still a John Wick movie & it has its moments. Won't spoil it for those who we see it regardless.

I don't think what I said could even be argued against. (Aside from the slow beginning/first hour, I suppose.) There were so many bloodless deaths throughout, that it didn't do the action scenes any favors. John Wick took the 'most punishment' in this movie. But reacted like nothing happened after nearly every fight. The plot *is* much simpler in the first two movies by far. The movie has nice expensive looking shots/cinematography. (Like the dancing scene that has the dancers not act like human beings and keep dancing in the middle of a gun/axe fight.) It's the longest movie. Etc etc.

Unlike most things, I went into this one expecting to like it. (Especially after I saw some IMDB reviews claiming that 'despite being disappointed with the third one, this one is a return to form'.)

But this one reminds me much more of the third one. Even tries the same "tension building moment" of making everyone hunt him, after putting a big bounty on his head. But the "highs" are probably better than the 3rd's. (Though I remember very little about the third one.)

This movie repeats a lot of ideas already done, and from the people I saw checking their phones on several occasions, I know I wasn't the only one in the theater, who thought that the film was dragging.

I know there's this "backlash" of the first John Wick movie. Because everything popular gets some amount of flak, justifiable or not. But the revenge/feeling of catharsis in the first movie has been lost. (IMO) And I didn't *have* to look it up, to know that different writers were apart of the third and fourth one.

How exactly would you rate the movies? (And how would you defend the boring/made to look stupid in every scene that he's in, villain.)
